After lunch, wanting to honor Ella's request to meet her father, Olivia called Amanda to see if she and Carisi could take Noah for a sleepover. Amanda inquired as to why, but respected Olivia's response that she couldn't tell her at that moment. She would one day…just not now.
Hi El. Do you have plans for tonight? Any chance you could come over? There's something I need to talk to you about.
Elliot received this text from Olivia just after lunchtime. While he was happy that she texted him, he was rather intrigued about her message. He was curious as to what she needed to discuss with him. They had been spending a good amount of time together since he returned from undercover, but they were still taking things very slow.
Hi Liv. I don't have plans tonight. What time would you like me to come by? Want me to bring dinner?
Almost immediately, Olivia responded telling Elliot to be there at 7pm, and that they could order dinner when, and if, they wanted to after talking. This message was even more intriguing to Elliot.

Elliot arrived early, but waited in his SUV until his watch read 7pm on the dot. He certainly did not want to seem too eager. Spending time with Olivia is all he wanted to do, but something about tonight felt very ominous. He read through her text messages, searching for a clue as to what she wanted to talk about. After Elliot knocked, Olivia opened the door and gestured for him to enter. "It's good to see you, Liv." Olivia motioned for him to take a seat in the living room, as she moved into the kitchen. "El…would you like a glass of wine?" Elliot nodded yes, and Olivia poured two generous portions, knowing tonight she would need a little liquid courage.
Elliot and Olivia sat facing each other on the sofa, while keeping a safe distance. She continually took sips of her wine, trying to mask her trembling hands. "Liv? Is everything okay?" Elliot reached out to touch Olivia's knee, but she gently pushed him away. Now he was very concerned. "What's going on? Have I done something wrong?"
Olivia shook her head while releasing a breathy sigh. "No. I just have something very important to tell you." She took another gulp of wine, and set down her glass on the coffee table. Olivia brought her hands together in her lap, and began picking at her fingers. "Elliot, I had a visitor yesterday at the precinct. Someone from my past who has a lot to do with you." Elliot kept his gaze laser focused on her, but Olivia couldn't look him in his eyes. "Her name is Ella Humphreys, and I had lunch with her today."
Elliot was confused. He didn't know the name, or who this woman was. "What does this woman have to do with me?" Olivia grabbed her glass again, and took another large gulp of wine.
"Elliot…do you remember when I went undercover for the FBI?" Elliot nodded, but didn't say a word. Of course he remembered that time, and the memory of how it felt when Olivia just vanished for months. After disappearing for ten years, he realized he had no basis for being angry at Olivia for disappearing, but the memory still hurt…deeply.
"If you remember, that wasn't long after you were shot in the elbow, and we had started seeing each other while you were going through your divorce." Elliot continued silently nodding, really not wanting to relive that dark time in his life.
Olivia grabbed her glass again, and drank the remaining wine, and Elliot noticed her hand was shaking as she set the glass back down. "Olivia…why are you dredging up these old memories? Why are you shaking?"
Standing up, Olivia needed to put a little distance between Elliot and herself. She crossed to the window, keeping her back to Elliot. She absolutely could not face Elliot while she continued. "I never let you know…and I had many reasons why…but, a couple of months before I left, I found out I was pregnant." Elliot sat numbly, trying to process the words Olivia was saying.
"What are you trying to tell me Liv? Did you have an abortion?" Olivia bowed her head, and let her tears fall. "No El. That's not what I'm saying."
Elliot stood up and put his hands on his hips. "Liv…are you telling me that you had my child? And you didn't tell me?" Olivia turned to face Elliot head on.
"Yes. El…I had a little girl. Our daughter. But I gave her up for adoption in Oregon. Elliot…I'm so sorry." A couple of tears escaped her eyes, and flowed slowly down her cheeks.
Elliot made no effort to go near Olivia, opting instead to focus his glare on her while trying to contain the rage that was bubbling up inside him. After an exacerbated breath, he crossed to the door, but stopped before exiting. "Liv…I can't be here right now. I can't be around you. I don't even know how to process this." And after that, Elliot left Olivia's apartment, and slammed the door closed behind him. Olivia began to ugly cry, letting out years of sadness and regret. Eventually, she made her way to her bedroom and collapsed into bed, sobbing openly for hours.
