The next day my alarm sounded off at 6am. I had a slight headache from falling asleep in a bad position on on my futon. I dragged myself to the bathroom and got ready to head out to Billy's house. I wanted to get there early to start the day well. Billy was laid back, but I wanted him to know that I take my job serious.

I wondered if his son was going to be home. He seemed like an ass, so I hoped that I wasn't going to have to deal with him much. Though, I secretly wanted to take another look at him.

I made myself coffee and poured some in a big thermos to take to Billy. I grabbed my book bag, headed out to my truck and made my way over to the reserve.

By 7:30am, I was in front of Billy's house. I took my book bag and my thermos and made my way to the house.

"Oh shit, maybe I came too early," I muttered to myself as I walked towards the house. The house had all the lights off. Maybe overdid it.

Before I could turn around to my car, Billy's son opened the door and walking out the front door. He completely ignored me and kept walking.

"Good Morning to you too!" I said loudly.

"Fucking shit head," I grumbled.

Billy was at the front door staring at his son with disbelief.

"I apologize about him. He's been off for a couple of days but he's usually not like that," Billy explained.

"It's fine. You want some coffee?" I said holding up the thermos. The kid wasn't my responsibility so he didn't have to give me any explanations.

"Yes, thank you," he smiled at me.

I walked inside the house and closed the door.

"Let me give you a quick tour of the house," Billy said.

You could tell only men lived in the house. The house didn't have any clear patterns or style. It was just a house full of hunting decorations and different color schemes.

"This is the living room, and the kitchen is across. We have two bedroom but only one bathroom," Billy said while taking me over to the bathroom.

"We also have a garage but Jacob uses it as his workshop," Billy said.

"What kind of workshop?" I asked.

"He's a good mechanic. He usually fixes cars and bikes but that kid can fix almost anything," Billy said brightly.

"Hah, that's good to know. My mom always said it's important to know a good mechanic," I laughed.

"Well your mom was wise," Billy agreed.

If only he wasn't such a dick, I thought to myself.

"And finally, we have a small backyard. It's not much, but it's enough for my boy and I," Billy said.

"It's cute Billy. It's enough for your family and that's all you need," I reassured.

"Sometimes you'll see that people will come pick me up or I'll leave. I don't really work since my accident, but I am considered one of the elders of the reserve. We get together every so often to decide how to better preserve the reserve," Billy explained.

"Sounds cool," I said while walking over to the kitchen.

I started opening the cabinets until I found a mug and poured some coffee in it.

"Here, drink this," I said while handling the coffee over. Billy brought the mug to his lip and his eyes opened wide when he tasted the coffee.

"Wow, that's good!" He said surprised.

"Yeah, I'm a coffee-finatic. I buy good coffee," I smirked.

"Do you want me to make you breakfast?" I asked.

"Not today cause I have to go to a meeting. I'll definitely take the coffee, but tomorrow I would appreciate it," he smiled.

"No problem!" I agreed.

Billy went over to his room. I started cleaning the kitchen.

After a while, someone started knocking on the door. I opened the door to see a boy who was also very muscular but his face looked too young for his body.

"Hey! You must be the help! I am Seth," he smiled brightly.

I couldn't help but laugh.

"The help? My name is Amelia," I said introducing myself.

The boy turned red.

"I didn't mean it like that," he said sincerely.

"I know, I was just pulling your leg," I said while putting my hand on his shoulders. His face brightened up again.

"I'm actually here to pick up Billy. My moms outside ready to take him to the council meeting," He said.

"I'm ready," Billy said from behind me. I moved out of the way.

"You look good!" Seth said.

"I always do," Billy agreed.

Seth grabbed the handles of the wheelchair and easily brought him down the stairs.

"I'll be back later! If you want to leave when you're done, that's fine!" Billy said.

"Alright, stay safe!" I said while waving at him.

I watched Seth easily maneuver Billy into the car. He then closed the wheelchair and put it in the trunk with one hand. I was amazed at that boys strength. What were these boys eating?

Seth got into the back seat and waved bye. I waved back and closed the door.

I continued with the cleansing of the house. I didn't go into that kids room because I didn't want any trouble with him.

When I checked the time, it was already 2pm. Billy had not returned yet. I decided to make some lunch and dinner and just leave it in the oven for them. I opened the fridge to see what they had and not surprisingly, they had absolutely nothing to cook.

I rubbed my temples. I took a deep breath and looked in the pantry for something to make. At least they had pasta. I grabbed the box of spaghetti and the spaghetti sauce. I put water to boil. While I waited for the water to boil, I opened up my nursing fundamentals and started studying.

After a while, I put the spaghetti to boil and finished cooking. While I was mixing the sauce and cheese, I heard the front door slam. I jumped up scared.

Jacob came right through the kitchen and into his room. He slammed his room door.

"What the hell is his problem?" I asked myself. I rolled my eyes and served myself a plate of spaghetti. I took my seat at the dinner table and continued to study.

After a while, the kid's door opened.

"I made spaghetti, if you want some," I yelled out not looking up from my book.

He didn't respond to me. At first, it was silent and then eventually I heard his foot steps getting closer. I heard him grab a bowl from the cabinet and serve himself. He grabbed a chair and sat in front of me. I didn't acknowledge him and kept on reading.

I could feel his eyes bore into my head.

"What are you reading?" He asked.

"I'm studying," I replied.

"Eww. Studying is lame," he said. I rolled my eyes.

"I wouldn't expect more coming from a kid," I said finally looking up to his eyes.

The moment our eyes locked, I felt a jolt of energy surge through me. I thought it was strange, but maybe it was because his light brown eyes caught me by surprise. Man this kid was handsome.

Jacob started choking on his food and I shook the thoughts from my head.

"Oh my god, are you okay kid?" I shouted. His face got extremely red.

"Yes... I...am," he said between coughs.

His face went back to normal.

"Stop calling me kid," he pouted. I couldn't help but smirk.

"Well, you never properly introduced yourself. In fact, every time I've seen you, you've been angry and rude," I stated.

"Yeah, I know," he said rolling his eyes. "I'm going through something, I apologize," he continued.

"Eh, bridge under water," I said. "I'm Amelia," I said while extending my arm for a hand shake.

"Jacob," he said while grabbing my hand. I felt electricity jolt through my fingers. Jacob removed his hand quickly.

"Hah, I must have zapped you because of the carpet, Sorry," I said.

"No, it's okay," he said. His face held a strange expression.

"Are you busy?" I asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.

"Not really," he said sounding more upset.

"Well, you guys need food for me to actually cook. Can you go grocery shopping? I can come along. Just need a couple of things," I told him.

Jacob looked hesitant to answer, but finally he agreed.

"Cool, let's go," I said.

I grabbed my plate and Jacob's and put it in the sink. Jacob followed me out.

"We can take my truck," I said when we left the house.

"There's no need. The market is down the street," he said.

"Yeah, but won't the groceries get too heavy to carry?" I asked.

"We can carry them," he smirked.

"Well whatever, lead the way," I said.

Jacob started walking towards a direction and I followed him.

"So you just recently moved here?" Jacob asked.

"Yeaupp, your dad didn't tell you?" I responded.

"I'm pretty sure he did, but I'm not good at listening when I'm distracted," Jacob laughed.

"I wasn't aware," I said sarcastically.

"Anyways, it's nicer to hear it from the person," he said.

"Hmm, nice save," I laughed. "Well yeah, I moved here recently. I actually applied to a nursing program and got accepted. I'm starting tomorrow at the university," I continued.

"Ohhh, so that's what you were studying," he said.

"Yeah, I like to be prepared."

"Where did your family move too? Are you guys native from La Push?" He asked.

I snorted. "Native to La Push? Have you not seen me? I'm paler than snow and I'm short."

Jacob laughed out loud.

"That was a stupid question," he admitted.

"I moved by myself after my mom died fighting cancer. I'm living next door to Charlie. I rented a room from one of his neighbors," I said.

Jacob was going to say something, but I saw the supermarket and got excited.

"Oh! There it is!" I said running towards it.

I grabbed the cart and went inside. It was a cute little market. It didn't have much but it had what I needed. I didn't go too crazy, just bought enough stuff for the week to make nutritious meals.

"You don't want to get any snacks?" Jacob asked.

"Well, it's not really up to me. This is for your house to cook lunch and dinner," I answered.

"Well it's on me. What will help you study better? Doritos or Cheetos Puffs?" Jacob asked while holding up the two big bags of chips.

"Hmmm, Actually I like these Jalapeño chips!" I said while pointing at the baked chips on the stand.

"Jalapeño chips it is then!" He said while grabbing a bag.

I finished picking the items I needed and went to the counter to ring them up.

"Hey, I haven't seen you before," The cashier said while ringing up my items. I looked up at the guy. He seemed to be around my age. He wasn't exaggerating buff like Jacob or Seth.

"Oh, umm I'm not from here. Just helping out Billy, do you know him?" I asked.

"Of course I know old Billy! Well, welcome to La Push," he said smiling at me.

"Okay Kevin, do your job," Jacob said.

The guy laughed.

"Yes Jacob. Whatever you say," he answered.

He finished ringing up all the items and Jacob paid.

"Alright, time to take all these things home," I said.

I went to grab a couple of bags, but Jacob stopped me.

"Please, don't insult me," he teased. Jacob grabbed all the groceries with one arm.

"Let's go," he said.

"Fucking show off," I muttered as I watched him walk in front of me.

"I heard that," he sang.

"That's the point," I replied in the same singing voice.

I followed him home.

When we got home, I immediately got to cooking dinner. Jacob helped put the stuff away.

"You're not so bad," I joked.

"What?" He asked.

"I thought you were an asshole," I clarified.

"Well, I'm glad I fixed my bad rep," he said.

The phone in the kitchen rang and Jacob picked it up.

"Hello!" He answered.

...

"Bells, I'm so glad to hear from you!"

...

"No, you can't do this to me..."

...

"I'll give you all the time you need. Just don't leave me," he cried.

...

"At least let me say goodbye," he finally said.

...

"I'll be there in a little bit," he slammed the phone.

I awkwardly continued to cook. I obviously wasn't going to ask him what happened. It sounded like a break up to me.

Jacob heaved.

"I have to go," he said while running off.

I didn't say anything. I watched him angrily run out the front door.

I finished the dinner, put it in containers, and cleaned the kitchen again before finally leaving for home.

At first, I didn't like Jacob because he was seemed like a rude person. Now that I met him, he's not as bad as I thought. Though with that Charlie told me and with what I just witnessed, it seems that Jacob is involved in some sort of weird love triangle. The thought bothered me a bit and I didn't understand why. I don't usually get concerned with other peoples affair, but I wanted to know what was going on with him.

I reminded myself that I was here to do my job and survive. It was not my business what he does.
