I'm Back :)
After Paul drove off, I went straight to my truck and rode out. Forks didn't have many toy stores, but I managed to find a small mom and pops store that had a little bit of everything.
I skimmed through the aisles.
"Hmm what should I get her?" I murmured.
"You seem to be thinking hard. Maybe I can help," a voice said.
I looked up to see a pale girl with blonde hair. Her eyes were abnormally dark for her pale complexion, but it looked like she was wearing contacts. She wore a black long sweater.
"Ahh, don't mind me. I'm just trying to think of a gift to get a little girl," I said.
"How old is the little girl?" She asked.
"Well... she's turning 4."
The girl grabbed a box of legos and gave it it me.
"Legos are good to develop the mind, don't you think?" She asked.
I don't know why, but I felt nervous next to her. She actually reminded me a bit of the Cullen's.
"Y-yeah, thanks," I stuttered.
She turned around and started walking around.
"By the way, my name is Jane," She said.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Lia."
She kept walking away without saying anything else. That was a totally weird interaction. I looked at the Lego and put it back. Legos are fun, but I wanted something more girlie. That's when my eyes spotted the perfect gift. It was a jewelry making kit full of charms and beads.
"Now this seems like more fun."
I grabbed the box, paid for it, and rushed home.
After changing into a new outfit, I jumped in my truck and made my way down to Emily's house.
I couldn't help but feel nervous. I mean, I've spoken to Emily a couple times but I never actually been inside her house. I couldn't help but feel like I'm going to be crashing a little girls birthday party.
I parked my car in front of the house. You could hear the music coming from the back yard. I got out of the car with my gift and made my way towards the house.
Before I could even knock, the door was opened.
"Yay, you made it!" Seth said happily and hugged me.
"Yes I did."
"Come in," he said while ushering me inside.
Emily was seen in the kitchen running around.
"Hey, I'm glad you made it. Everyone's in the backyard. I'm almost done with the food," she smiled.
"Do you need any help?" I asked.
"Well, I'm just about done but you can help me set the table outside. You can put the present on that table," she said while pointed at a decorated table.
I put the present on the table and walked over to Emily where she handed me different food items to bring outside. Seth help carry the heavier dishes.
We made our way to the backyard where all you heard was children's screaming. There was a bunch of kids running around, while the adults sat by the table conversing, and the young adults were playing football.
"Wow, that's a lot of children," I said.
Seth laughed.
The birthday girl was wearing a tiara and running with a group of kids. The next person I instantly spotted was Jacob. He was obviously playing football with his friends.
I decided not to interrupt him and continue with making the table.
"Hey Lia, do you mind serving me a plate? A little bit of everything," Billy asked me.
"Of course."
I served Billy and served myself food as well. I sat next to him and Sue.
"How's everything going Honey?" Sue asked.
"It's going well. I actually got placed now in the Emergency Room specialty so I am excited."
"That sounds exciting! Though, there's not much going on here in Forks," she said.
"Yeah, but that's okay. Better slow honestly," I said.
I looked over to Jacob. He hasn't even noticed that I was here and it bothered me. I bit my lip and kept conversing with Billy and Sue.
Jacobs P.O.V
I heard Lia's truck park in the front.
"Hey Seth, go get Lia. She's probably going to feel nervous about coming here," I told Seth.
Seth nodded his head and went to get her.
"Hey, let's play some football!" Embry said while throwing the ball at me.
I wanted to be available to greet Lia, but Embry started taunting me
"Alright man, you're on!"
We formed our teams and started playing. I heard Lia's voice as she came outside. I started playing better, trying to see if I could get her attention. To my disappointment, she just sat next to my dad and ate food.
"Dude, if you really wanted her attention then you should get hurt," Paul said.
I rolled my eyes.
"That's impossible," I retorted.
"Look, all you gotta do it let me tackle you and you pretend to be hurt," Paul reasoned.
I looked towards Lia. Should I do it?
"She's a nurse bro. She will be all over you," Paul smirked.
Embry started laughing. "Paul actually makes sense."
I growled.
"I don't need to get hurt. I just need to talk to her casually," I reasoned.
"I don't really understand what's going on between you two, but it's very entertaining," Paul laughed.
I didn't know what was going on between us either. We were friends, but sometimes it felt like we were more. I don't know, I felt very comfortable around her and I had to admit I couldn't successfully distance myself from her. I imprinted on Nessie, so there's no way I could have romantic feelings for her, so what is this?
I watched Lia get up and I felt myself panic. Was she leaving?
"Okay, do it!" I told Paul.
Paul gave a smirk and charged towards me. I closed my eyes and braced myself for his tackle.
Paul tackled me so hard, we let out a loud bang as we hit the floor. I over exaggeratedly groaned on the floor. On another note, I was pretty sure he actually dislocated my shoulder.
"Thank me later," he muttered.
Just as he predicted, she came running to help me. I tried to hold back my smile. I grabbed my shoulder and groaned.
"Paul, what the hell!?" She shouted at him.
"He will be fine," he smirked.
She looked at my eyes with worried. I felt an electric rush flow through me. Why did I feel this way around her?
"Quick, what's 12 times 2?" She said.
"24," I groaned.
"How many fingers do I have up?" She asked while holding up 4 fingers.
"Four," I groaned.
"Okay, no concussion. You probably dislocated your shoulder though since you're holding it," she said.
She put her arm around my neck.
"Here, let me help you up," she said.
I knew I was too heavy for her so I assisted her in sitting me up. My shoulder was dislocated.
"Let's get you to the-" I caught her off by popping my shoulder back in place. She winced.
"That's got to hurt," she muttered.
"It does," I poured..
"Well, since you put it back in place, let's go wrap it and ice it," she said.
I nodded my head and got up from the floor. Everyone looked at us confused. Hell, even I didn't know why I just did what I did for her attention. They knew I couldn't get hurt that easily and they also knew I'm imprinted with Nessie. I got strange looks as she walked me into the kitchen.
I sat down on the chair and watched her as she grabbed a bag that was on the kitchen counter and fill it with ice. She slowly put it on my shoulder.
"Paul is such a jerk. If I didn't know any better, I would think he did this on purpose," she said.
"He most likely did," I agreed.
"God, and at a children's party," she said while rolling her eyes.
I couldn't help but to laugh. She looked at me confused.
"I'm glad you find this situation funny."
"I'm just glad you were there to help me," I said.
"Well you didn't really need me. You popped your shoulder back. All I did was ice it."
"Yeah, but you iced it the best," I smiled.
I saw her cheeks turn a tinge of pink. I thought she looked adorable when she blushed.
"Here, I brought you something to wrap his shoulder with," Emily said.
"Thanks," she said.
Emily ran outside and left us alone.
"Do you need help taking off your shirt?" She asked.
My shoulder didn't hurt anymore but I had to keep up the charade.
"Yes please," I pouted.
I could tell she was nervous. Her fingers delicately grabbed my shirt and pulled it over my head. She grabbed the wrap and started wrapping my shoulder. I knew I shouldn't be enjoying this, but I was.
"Good as new," she said nervously. I saw her cheeks tinged pink.
"Thanks," I smiled at her.
"Hey, we're going to sing Happy Birthday!" Quil shouted through the door.
"Umm, we should go..." she said. She put a strand of hair behind her ear and made her way outside. I followed.
Amelia's P.O.V
After we cut the cake, I decided to go home. I was a little tired and it was getting late. After saying my goodbyes, I made my way out of the house.
"Hey, do you want me to accompany you?" Jacob asked.
"It's fine. I live pretty far. There's no point of you coming with and then having to come back here," I said.
"Well, let me walk you to your car," he said.
"Sure?" I said awkwardly.
Jacob walked with me to my car which honestly wasn't a long walk.
"Alrighty, I'll be going now," I said while opening the car door.
Jacob smile turned into a frown when I opened the door.
"Wait," he said.
I looked at him confused. He started smelling the air.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Something doesn't smell right," he said.
I tried smelling the air but didn't sense anything.
"I don't smell anything," I said truthfully.
He came to the driver seat and started smelling my car.
"Where did you go today?" He asked .
"Umm... in my car... I went to some random shop here in Forks... why?"
"Did you talk to anyone weird or someone who made you uncomfortable?" He asked.
I instantly remembered the girl.
"Well sorta, but what does that have to do with my car?" I asked.
"It's just the perfume. I guess they left their stench on you," he basically growled.
"Well... your question was oddly specific. Anyways, I'll be going now," I said while getting into my car.
"Stay safe and don't talk to strangers," he said.
I drove off.
