And you guys thought last chapter was kinda intense.
LOL
Although I aim kinda disappointed with my length here. Then again, ain't no way to drag this out anymore, am I right?
Another word of warning though, I'm going to be going on vacation after today. So I may not be able to write the next chapter for next week. So next Monday there may not be a chapter. My bad!
Enjoy!
There really wasn't much Drake could say to describe the fear he felt in that moment.
As he stood there, staring into the darkened angry gaze of his childhood friend, he felt empty. How exactly were they supposed to beat what had been bred to kill immortal beings?
"What the hell do we do now?" He heard Taro's voice from behind him. "If what Zeus said about her and Natsu is true..."
"Then she's very dangerous right now." Terra said. "We need to tread very carefully, or else we'd be risking our death."
"I've encountered this before," It was Gin who spoke now. "She became like this when we fought against your Demon Hunters, Neptu."
"I remember," Neptu said. "The power she exuded then...The Gods should definitely fear her."
"Drake, what should we do?" It was this question voiced by Steph that Drake realised they were all waiting on him. He had become some sort of leader in the last few hours, and now everyone was looking at him and expecting him to lead.
"I-" He started, stopping before he said something dumb. If he was being completely honest, he had no idea what they were going to do. He thought back to Silverridge, to the crater. END had survived at Etherion Blast strong enough to destroy a city at point blank range. What could they possibly hope to do that would let them beat her away?
He didn't know what to do.
"T-Tristan," he finally managed. "C-Can you use Divine Territory and cut her magic off? If you can, this fight ends here." Tristan gulped, but nodding.
"Easy," he said, bringing his hands together. The man glowed, and Drake watched expectantly.
Before the light left Tristan, and Drake's eyes widened.
END had appeared behind him, driving her right fist into his skull. Tristan was sent careening right off the mountain from this blow, but he was recovered quickly as Terra commanded the mountain beneath them to jut out and catch him.
Unfortunately, this sent the entire group into a panic. Some tried to attack. Other tried to regroup. Others just looked around in confusion. END did the first of these things. She phased out of view and appeared behind Terra, slamming her fist into her stomach and sending the woman to the ground. Jackson sped towards her and aimed a kick for her head, but END grabbed his foot and swung him around her head and slammed his body into Winter and Taro as they got too close. She jumped to avoid the Blizzard Akio sent at her feet, gathering flames in her hands and sending them at him. The mountain exploded beneath their feet at the impact, the smoke giving END all the space she needed. Drake sat in silence, paralysed by indecision, as he heard his friends getting destroyed by the demon Nashi had had inside her own body all this time. What could he do? How were they supposed to beat something that had been created to be so powerful?
"Drake!" It was Steph's voice. Turning, Drake saw his guildmates by his side, watching him warily. They all seemed fairly panicked, but calmer than others.
"We have work to do," Elise said flatly. "Gather yourself."
"What do we do?" He asked weakly. "We're not gonna be able to defeat her. If what Zeus said is true-"
"What Zeus said doesn't matter," Simon interrupted. "What does matter is that we're all right here, right now. We didn't come this far, fight this hard all these years to lose now. So get to your feet, find your balls ans get ready. It ain't over yet."
"Yeah," Elise agreed. "Like we said, have faith in us. We can handle a little-"
Drake didn't hear Elise finish her sentence, as a fireball came into direct contact with her head. He watched her get sent backwards, barely coming to a stop before falling off of the mountain. Drake turned and saw END watching them, eyes lifeless. Most of the others sat around either stunned into silence or caring for those that had gotten hurt, which wasn't good. How had she decimated them that quickly?
No, he knew how. It was the power she'd been born with. The power Zeref imbued Natsu with, that he indirectly passed to his daughter. And here it stood, poised to kill them all like it was nothing. He looked to the others, seeing them all lying in various states of disarray.
No, he wasn't going to let this happen. No one else was going to die for him, not here. Not now. Not ever.
With this in mind, he took a few tentative steps forward.
"Drake don't be dumb!" Simon shouted, grabbing his arm. But Drake shook him off. He wasn't going to take this.
"Drake!" Steph cried out, but he ignored her too. He walked up to square off with END, who just watched him silently.
"...Luna?" He finally asked, thinking back to the crater. How Nashi seemed to have reacted to his words. "I know you're in there, can you here me?" There was no verbal response from her, but Drake could see her body shuddering slightly. A guttural growl escaped her lips, maybe a warning. If it was, he opted not to heed it.
"You don't want to do this," he said as he raised his hands to show he wasn't going to hurt her. "I know you're better than that damn Athena's power. Break free, and we can end this nightmare right here, right now. We can win and go home, yeah? Let's do it. Together."
At first there was no response to his words except the faint shudders. After a few seconds of silence, END took a few tentative steps towards him. They were shaky and unsure, and this gave him hope Luna could hear him. The steps gained speed, and END looked up at him from under her bangs.
And shot at him like a rocket, right hand raised to smash him in the face.
Drake knew he had no time to get out of the way. She was too fast, and he'd been too unprepared. He was going to take the full brunt of this hit. It would hurt no doubt, but he wasn't fast enough to evade. Time seemed to have slowed for him as she raised her claws, ready to punch him so hard he flew into the ocean below. This would be the second time she threw him off a cliff in the last year. That had to be some kind of record right?
And yet, as Drake contemplated what might happen afterwards, the attack stopped. END's fist was a mere few inches from his face, shaking violently. A sonic boom had gone off from her stopping her momentum, blowing Drake's hair out everywhere and making his ears ring.
For a second, nothing happened. The fist stayed shaking before him, and everyone else just watched in shock. END said and did nothing but shake, and Drake's voice had fled. No one said a word.
Until Zeus did.
"Strike him, END!" He commanded. "It is your duty!" There was no response. "It must be the spell malfunctioning. Athena did quick work, perhaps it's not her best. END! I command you to strike him down!"
"NO!"
Drake jumped as an angry voice exploded from END's mouth, and her fist reared back completely as her hands flew up to grab her head. She roared in pain, which silenced any attempt at speaking he may have tried to gather. What the hell was happening. After a few seconds of roaring, another voice came from her mouth.
"I-I was told to-"
"I won't let you, foul woman! Get out of her head!"
"Protocol Nine; subject is resisting mind control. Proceed to-"
"Get out of her head! I promised her I wouldn't hurt them! I PROMISED! NOT HIM! I WON'T LET YOU!" Another roar came from her mouth, this time spewing fire out all over the night sky.
"Subject is resisting; proceed to-"
"Get out! GET OUT!" Another roar of flames. "Drake?! DRAKE?! Can you hear me?! Drake!"
Drake realised he was being called.
"I'm here!" He shouted, taking a step forward. "...E-END? Is that you?"
"Who else could it be?!" END shouted back angrily, her single red eye glowing with anger. "Can you hear me still?! I need you to-"
"Subject is-"
"This thing is stuck in her-"
"Proceed to mental-"
"We need to get this-"
"Subject still resisting-"
Drake stood, dumbfounded, as the two voices cut each other in and out, seemingly battling for control of Luna's voice. The struggle seemed so visceral for one happening solely inside her head, but all he could do was stand and watch.
"Gah! I don't know if you can hear me, but I need your help! Destroy whatever is broadcasting this damn signal! I can't fight her off forever, I'm not strong enough! Destroy the-"
"Subject still resis-"
"Find the-"
"Applying more menta-"
"HELP HER!"
Drake heard that last one loud and clear. He didn't know why END couldn't fight Athena's magic, nor did he know why she was resisting and helping now of all times.
But what he did know was that she'd said she promised not to hurt them. That she couldn't do this on her own.
Courage surged through Drake's veins. This wasn't impossible. It was vert much possible. They could do this.
He almost didn't feel the Dragon Force scales forming on his skin.
"Hey, Zeus." He called out as he turned to face both men. Both of them looked fairly disgruntled from what was happening, but they looked at him all the same. "Did you account for this with all of your precautions?"
"...No, I didn't." He replied. "I was not aware that this power...this thing that resides within were was an actual thing, and not just power. Never did I suspect that END was an actual mind living inside of her."
"Well doesn't that suck," he said as he turned to face them fully, his magic exploding outwards. "I guess this would be the perfect time to destroy that broadcasting tower behind you, right?" Zeus cast a look back at the thing Luna had been hooked up to, realising Drake knew it was a tower to broadcast Athena's magic.
"It would be, I suppose." He said. "Although you must know that Poseidon and I will stand against you."
"I figured," Drake replied. "But we've been given the perfect chance. Everyone!" He shouted this part, gathering everyone's attention. "If you can stand, do so now! We need to destroy that broadcasting tower to free Luna!"
"That's the lead we were looking for," Nami's voice came, drawing her blade with her remaining hand. "Let's go, you slackers! Time to defeat these morons!" Everyone slowly got to their feet and readied themselves, magic exploding outwards. Zeus and Poseidon actually looked a little nervous at this.
"Where the hell is Hades?" Zeus demanded in Poseidon's direction. The man just shrugged, making Zeus growl. "Fine, we'll deal with these insolent children ourselves. Then we can deal with him." With this, Zeus raised a hand over his head, and it began to glow with magic. Poseidon did the same as him, and their magic power exploded outwards.
"I call upon the power of the sky. Hear my cry and grant me the power to strike down my foes. My name will become Jupiter. Imbue me with the strength to reach the heavens."
"I call upon the power of the sea. Hear my cry and grant me the power to strike my foes down. My name will become Neptune. Imbue me with the strength to roll the tides in my favour."
Both men exploded in light, just like the others who used this strange technique. When the light faded, both of them had changed. Jupiter's white hair and beard flowed slightly in the wind, a new staff having appeared in his hand. His robes were covered in armour coloured darkly, and his eyes glowed with intense magic. Neptune's looked very much the same, but his trident glowed bright blue.
"I really should stop asking," Jupiter said as he raised his staff and aimed it at Drake. "But I'll give you one more chance. Need I wait for an answer?" Drake laughed as reared back his arms, gathering his magic there.
"Nah," he said. "You already know what I'll say."
This was all it took for the battle to erupt.
Drake surged forward, hearing everyone running straight behind him. He bolted straight for Zeus, who aimed his staff at him.
"Hastam Tonitrua!" Drake didn't understand the language he spoke, but he did understand the massive pearly white lightning surging straight for him. Drake smirked, tilting backwards as it got close.
Rina flew over his head and took the full brunt of the attack, laughing.
"Get him already!" She shouted as she consumed the lightning. "30mm Lightning Barrage!" Black lightning surged around Drake as he approached, Jupiter dodging all of the attacks. He raised his hands as they got closer, his eyes glowing.
"Tempestatem Infinitum!"As these words a tornado formed on the peak of the mountain, picking Drake up like he was debris and flinging him high into the air with the others. Before he even lost his bearings, he felt his feet connect with earth beneath him. Looking down, he saw himself standing on some debris as it flew around in the tornado.
Drake!" Looking over, he saw Terra and Winter standing on another one. Terra was currently focusing intently, as it was obviously her doing that Drake had any footing at all. Winter only nodded at him, and it was all Drake needed. Watching the girl, he timed his jump from the debris with her hands glowing. He flew straight through the tornado and out, flying straight for Neptune. The man fought Simon and Nami off with his trident, and didn't seem him flying down from above. Rearing back, Drake gathered magic in his feet.
"Poison Dragon Spiral Jaw!" The force from Winter's magic only accelerated him downwards, and his feet soon exploded against the trident as Neptune turned to defend himself.
"Don't call out attacks, you amateur." He said flatly as he easily pushed against Drake, who smirked.
"Guess I don't want you hearing me," he said flatly, taking a deep breath. This was a new one he'd thought up. "Deafening Roar!"
He'd gotten the idea from how his father was defeated by Natsu back in the day.
Using his Sound Magic, Drake increased his roar by an unsafe amount of decibels. Neptune covered his ears as the roar reached him, the screech so powerful he even closed his eyes in pain. As soon as the roar faded away Simon appeared behind him and swung at him with a blade, only to have it dodged. It wasn't a perfect dodge, more like a guess that something would happen after Drake's attack. Neptune turned and aimed his trident at Simon, who looked up at him defiantly.
"Tempestatem Caelesti!" He shouted, The atmosphere around the peak changing. Storm clouds formed and began to belch an absurd amount of rain, which tore at Drake's very clothing. Covering his face, Drake ignored the pain as the rain sliced open his skin everywhere it could. He fought through it in Neptune's direction, but the man took advantage of the storm and disappeared inside of it. Growling, Drake activated his sound magic and listened intently, finding him approaching Kumi from behind. Sprinting in that direction, he jumped over the catgirls head and blocked the tridents strike with his hands.
"Kumi, now!" He shouted. Quickly understanding his cry, Kumi spawned her anti-magic tubes, which writhed though the air for Neptune. The man jumped back to avoid them, only to fall directly into Quinn's waiting arms. The man sliced at Neptune's back with a spear, which sent an electrical current through his body. The man grunted in pain as he fell through the air, but everyone wasn't done yet. Nami appeared before him, poised to strike him down with her blade. She wasn't fast enough.
Neptune stabbed her in the leg with his trident, causing her to cry out and lower her blade. She didn't stop though. A white glow suspended Neptune in the air, and as Nami fell and her feet hit the ground, she propelled herself back up again and ran her blade straight through Neptune's gut. The man spit up a little blood, but he still headbutt Nami and she fell backwards in surprise. Turning, he also caught Reyna as she attempted to use her Drunken Hawk Stance on him, sending her back into the dirt. Deciding it was time for his attack, Drake jumped up towards the man and reared his fist back, aiming it right for the mans head.
"Poison Dragon Cobra Strike!" His fist went out at lightning speed, but Neptune still caught it as they hit the ground. He tried to run Drake through with the trident, but he dodged it and grappled with the man hand to hand before he managed to get behind him, holding him by the neck with his arm. "Poison Dragon Anaconda Hold!" Reinforcing his arms with magic, Drake used every last bit of his strength and tried to choke the life out of Neptune. He could hear the man gurgling for breath, but he could free from him as he drove his elbow into Drake's head and nearly knocked him out. As he stumbled to the ground, Neptune was stopped from delivering another blow by Simon, who flew in and slice at the mans trident to knock it away. Requipping, Simon changed into his Water Emperor Armour and the two locked tridents with an explosion of magic.
Before either could do anything, Neptune was struck in the back of the head by a pillar of ice, thrown at him by Ultear. As he stumbled Simon twisted and drove his trident under the mans armour, causing it to crack from the pressure before being flung free by it. Neptune growled and grabbed at Simon's weapon, hurling it from the mans hands before raising both of his hands.
"Vorax Gurges!" A whirlpool sprung up from the floor beneath them, consuming everyone nearby in it's wrath. Drake struggled just to keep his head above the water, fearing his lungs would fill with the water before he could get out.
And just like that, the water disappeared.
Drake fell down onto his back and hit the ground hard, moaning as he sat up. Once he did so, he saw Ultear standing nearby, her hands glowing.
"That's two," she said angrily, her eyes aglow with anger. "Two spells I've stolen from you guys!" Neptune looked at her in confusion, raising his hand to blast her away. Ultear, though, was faster.
"Arc of Time: Redirected Offensive!"
Magic exploded out of Ultear's outstretched hands, and the whirlpool blasted horizontally out towards Neptune. From within the whirlpool's center came a storm blasting massive amounts of lightning and rain, all of it raging towards Neptune at a speed Drake couldn't hope to match. It was not only the whirlpool, but the storm she'd consumed from when they were flying towards the mountain. And Ultear had just thrown them both right back at Neptune's face.
"Zeus!" He shouted as the storm roared towards him. "Stop them at all costs! Don't let them take down the broadcasting to-!" The mans sentence was cut off as he was consumed by the storm, nowhere to go but through. Drake watched with baited breath, hoping that the man would not reappear from inside. But he could hear him. He would survive it, just like he feared he would. But Drake would be ready.
As the storm disappeared and Neptune reappeared, Drake launched himself forward and latched onto Neptune's back with all fours. Despite the mans efforts to shake him off, nothing was working. Getting his mouth close to Neptune's face, Drake exhaled green poison directly into the mans mouth and nose.
It took not three seconds for Neptune's body to grow painfully still, the paralytic poison doing it's job. Drake grinned and glared at the man, who watched him with his eyes stuck wide open.
"For someone so powerful, this is a shitty way to go." He commented. Neptune looked at him defiantly, and Drake released too late he was being to laid back.
Water exploded out from Neptune's body, every drop razor sharp and tearing at Drake's body more than the rest of the mans attacks already did. It was so much pain Drake barely even felt it, but he did feel his body hit the ground.
"Drake!" It was Winter who had shouted this. "Kumi, bind that asshole!"
"On it nyah!" Drake didn't seen Kumi's binds going to work, but he heard them wrap tightly around something, which he could only presume was Neptune. Winter appeared in his vision, watching him weakly. As she did, Drake heard a barrage of attacks going off. The very mountain beneath him shook, and he could only assume Neptune was being blasted to shreds as he lay defenceless.
"Are you okay?" Winter asked weakly, her own face looking ghastly pale and tired.
"I'm fine," he hissed as he tried to stand. "Don't you dare use any of your magic to heal me-" He was already too late in warning her, as Winter was in the midst of closing his wounds with her magic. This girl was unbelievable.
"We're close," she said weakly as she healed him. "It's just Zeus now, and if we all gang up on him-"
BOOM!
Winter was blown away from Drake frown the shockwave, and he himself rolled along the ground from it. Lifting his head, Drake looked back over to where Zeus was standing.
So many of his friends laid around the mountain in heaps, the blast having knocked them away easily. Looking forward, Drake saw Jupiter crackling with power. His eyes were glowing bright white, and the magic rolled off of him so powerfully Drake feared it would knock him out.
"I won't let you succeed!" He shouted, his voice echoing from the sheer power he was exuding. He really did look like a God now. "Our plan has spent so many years to get to this point! To lose it all now...I won't allow it! Imperium Tempestas!" With these two words the weather around the peak of Mt. Olympus responded to Jupiter's will. The storm formed into a full blown hurricane around the peak, with the mountain in the eye. The winds surrounding the peak were going way to fast for the average human to survive should they get knocked into it, and every cloud raged with enough lightning to power an entire country for who knew how many years. This wasn't good. It got even worse when Jupiter raised his fingers to his temple.
"Hephaestus!" He shouted. "Yes I know you're rebuilding! Do you have the satellite in position or not?! Good! If I give you the signal, set it off! Full power!" Drake's stomach fell at this.
"You cannot be serious!" He shouted as he stood. "You're gonna blow us all away?!"
"I'll do what I have to to secure the future!" Jupiter shouted as thunder boomed with every word.
"You said we needed END to save the world! What will you get from killing her?!"
"She can be resurrected again! We know how to do it! I'll kill all of us, even myself, if I can secure the future! I will do what needs to be done!" With this, Jupiter raised his staff and pointed it directly at Drake, the others slowly getting to their feet.
"Come at me, Fairy Tail! Will my plan prevail?! Or will you succeed in ruining everything I've built?!" Drake gritted his teeth, casting a quick glance over at END. She was currently paralysed oh the ground, still gritting her teeth and shouting to herself. It was clear she was still fighting.
Which meant they had to do the same.
Raising his hands, Drake forced Dragon Force to it's very limits and and pumped out as much magic as he could. His arms barely looked like human arms anymore, but he didn't care.
"You're right," he growled. "Let's put an end to this story already."
Now you all know Drake's words aren't mean to be taken seriously. That's not me saying it's over you all know that. I hope you enjoyed though, leave a review! Let's try and get five!
And Neptune may not be done either ;)
Chapter 341: It's Not the END
