Chapter 158: Kelly's Windy Day

Kelly eyed his crane nervously as it was carefully rolled off the trailer of Nelson's Ballast Tractor. It was a very windy day, and Kelly knew how dangerous that could be. Nelson walked up to him.

"Strong winds today, you guys better be careful."

"No need to tell me twice. Strong winds are dangerous, especially for cranes."

The Pack soon got to work on the new library. But the wind was so strong that they could hardly get their work done. Kelly fought hard to keep his crane upright, but it was a loosing battle. A loud creaking noise was heard as the large machine began to tilt.

" What the- no, non, no, no, no, no!"

A loud CRASH! echoed throughout the yard. Everyone came running to find Kelly dazed and confused as he climbed out of the Crane's cab.

"Are you alright, Kelly?" Byron asked.

"Ergh, not really. My head hurts. Did I hit anyone else?"

"No," replied Jack, "but you took out the supplies shed.

The paramedics arrived to take Kelly away, a bandage wrapped tightly around his head. Miss Jenny was waiting for him at the ambulance.

"I'm sorry, Miss Jenny."

"It wasn't your fault, Kelly. You'll be feeling better in no time."

Fortunately, Kelly only suffered a mild concussion and was told to take a week off of work.

"A week of rest and proper medication and you'll be ready to work.

But Kelly was worried. What if the next time this happened he hurt someone?"

A week later, Kelly was getting ready for work when the phone rang.

"Hello?""

"Kelly, come quick! Isobella crashed while delivering a piano and is now teetering over the Quarry Bridge!"

"I'm on my way!"

Kelly rushed over as fast as he could. Miss Jenny and the piano owner were there trying to keep Isobella calm.

"Don't worry, Isobella! Kelly's here, he'll get you out!"

"Hurry, Kelly! I don't know how much longer my truck will stay balanced!"

Kelly was still worried, but knew Isobella needed him. First, he removed the piano, making sure not to unbalance the lorry. But as he moved to rescue Isobella, the wind picked up. Kelly froze in fear.

"What's wrong?"

"I- I can't do it. I'm scared."

"You can do it Kelly!"

Having found his confidence once , Kelly slowly hooked the flatbed and slowly but surely , pulled Isobella back to safety.

"Well done, Kelly!"

"And thank you!"

Kelly just beamed in triumph.
