Chapter 5 : secrets spilled and pressure cracks
The next scene shows it being morning and the Madrigals all getting ready for breakfast and their day. Just then Mirabel raced up to the to the breakfast line and saw Dolores (Camilo) and she was stacking Arepas on his plate.
Mirabel: "Dolores Hey you know out of all my cousins you're like my favourite cousin , and I feel like I can talk to you about anything ,Ergo You can talk to me about anything like the problem with the Magic last night that no one seemed to know about that maybe you heard about that maybe I should know about".
"That hurt by the way even though I didn't show it". Camilo whined
"Well How was I supposed to know that, okay it's my fault I should of known it was you". Mirabel replies
"Yeah Camilo do you really think you're the favourite ". Antonio stuck his tongue out
Mirabel snickers at the two brothers fighting over who was the favourite.
"What's so funny?" Dolores asked
"I just think it's adorable that they think I'd choose a favourite primo". Mirabel whispered
"I guess it is ". Dolores hugged Mirabel
"Listen I am sorry for using you for information it was wrong of me Your mi Prima not some gossip machine". Mirabel apologises
"Estas bien Mira, besides if you didn't we wouldn't be having a new Miracle because of you". Dolores smiled
"Besides I always thought of you as my little sister rather than my Prima ". She added
"Me too Gracias Loli ". She hugged Dolores
Felix:"Camilo stop pretending to be Dolores so you can have seconds".
Camilo: "Worth a shot."
Casita then used her shutters to smack him in the back for stealing extra Arepas. He screeched in pain at how hard she hit him.
Both families laughed at him getting in trouble by a house.
"It's not funny ". Camilo whined
"Are you kidding that's hilarious". Isabela laughed
"Casita knows what your up to all the time Cami and don't deny it". Antonio piped
"Sonbrino if you just want any extras come and ask me okay I would be happy to give it to you". Julieta said
"Gracias Tia". Camilo thanked
Mirabel looked annoyed that it wasn't Dolores and instead Camilo, just then Dolores popped out from behind and squeaked and went in front to get her food.
Dolores: " The only one worried about the Magic is you and the rats talking in the walls, Oh and Luisa i heard her eye twitching all night". She squeaked
"Hold up you can hear someone's eye twitch isn't that a bit creepy". Miguel stated
"Your telling me". Dolores started
Mirabel then looked towards Luisa who had just put down the family breakfast table.
Luisa:"There we go".
Abuela Alma:" Everyone to the table let's go , Let's go".
The chairs were shifted to the table and everyone sat down with their plates, Mirabel raced past her Tia to get a spot next to Luisa, Pepa on the other hand looked upset but as soon as she sat down near Felix her cloud dissolved.
"Sorry Tia I didn't mean to". Mirabel apologises
"Estas bien Mi vida just be careful yes?" She smiled
"Si". Mirabel replies
Abuela Alma:" Family we are all thankful for Antonio's new… Gift". She tried to sit down but the animals were sitting in her seat.
Over to the side Felix gave him a look of approval and a thumbs up.
Antonio: "I told them to warm up your seat".
Both families laughed at the cute scene and Alma looked to her youngest grandson and smiled at him he smiled back.
Abuela Alma: " Thank you Toñito ".
Abuela Alma:" As I said I am sure we can put your blessings to good use".
"Mamá he's five he supposed to be a child not to be working goodness me!!" Bruno sighed
Meanwhile over a few seats down Mirabel was wanting to talk to Luisa, Luisa just wanted to avoid any conversation and finish so she could get her chores done.
Mirabel: "Luisa , Dolores your totally freaking out any chance you may know something about the Magic".
Just then Luisa's eye profusely twitches.
Mirabel:" You Do!!"
"Very subtle Mira nice job ". Camilo rolled his eyes
"Yes okay laugh it up, so what subtly is not strong suit big deal". Mirabel shooed
" Hey I am just saying you could of at least talked to Luisa in private". Camilo added
"How, The only time I could get her alone was breakfast because news flash she was overwhelmed and overworking herself to death". Mirabel replies
Abuela Alma: "Mirabel if you can't pay attention i will help you".
Mirabel: " Actually no I was just... "
Abuela Alma: "Casita ".
Casita then moved Mirabel's chair to the front of the table right next to where Alma was sitting and in the process banged her chest into the table.
"Ouch that must of hurt Estas bien Mira?" Miguel asked
"Si, I am fine it was just a bruise is all". Mirabel replies
"I am sorry Mi vida I should have listened to you and should have been more careful ". Alma apologises
Mirabel smiled and then looked back to the screen.
Abuela Alma: "As I was saying we must never take our Miracle for granted so today we will work twice as hard".
Mirabel:" Mhm and I will help Luisa ".
Just as Mirabel was about to get out of her seat something stopped her from leaving.
Abuela Alma: "Stop".
Really Mamá you keep doing that she is going to get bruised and Julie can't fix her every time ". Bruno added
"I am fine Tio Really ". She shook her head
"Just precautions Mira". Bruno nodded
Abuela Alma: " First an announcement, I have spoken to the Gusmans about Mariano's proposal to Isabela, Dolores do we have a date?"
Dolores: "Tonight he wants five babies ".
Isabela grew flowers in her hair from surprise .
Most of the room went silent and was shocked at what was just said.
"She wants how many!!" Héctor yells
"Hold up Señora you were planning to marry your granddaughter off and I don't think that's right, just my opinion ". Miguel speaks
"That's what I would say Mamá did Isabela agree to this?" Pepa asked
All heads turn to Isabela at which she slightly shook her head. Bruno was fuming first his youngest Sonbrina and now his oldest this could not get any worse.
"Would you all just stop, Putting it on Isa she had pressure from Abuela to make her happy and be perfect all the time and she had her reasons, We are all at fault here for not Asking what Isa wanted. And I am sure Abuela is making it up to her and she is really trying her hardest to make up for lost time she was so afraid of loosing herself and this family she forgot what it meant to love ". Mirabel explains
"Gracias Amor ". Alma whispered
Isabela laughed and went up to her and hugged her tight and Mirabel smiled.
"Gracias Hermana how do I deserve you?" Isabela asked
"I don't know honestly, but you're making change and I am glad to have the sister I know and love back". Mirabel replies
" I am sorry for not telling you guys sooner but I'll promise I will try I was just so afraid to ". Isabela starts
" Estas bien Amor we know you mean well and love you all the same". Augustin said
"Si, Your Papá is right and we will try to be better than we were". Julieta added
Isabela hugs her parents Dolores smiled at least she didn't find out.
"That's what I like to hear this a safe space and this is about growth which reminds me I have a few New people to bring in, but first Dolores do you want to tell us something, see your not the only one with secrets". Layla replied
Dolores shrunk in her seat and squeaked.
"Loli do you have something you want to tell us?" Bruno asked
"No". She squeaked
"Dolores ". Layla scolded
"Okay I may have… sort of Maybe… Possibly lied that Isa wanted to have 5 children ". Dolores squeaked
"WHAT, YOU LIED TO ME ". Isabela pretended to yell.
"Lo siento ". Dolores apologises
Meanwhile Mirabel hid behind Miguel 's chair to avoid the fight.
"Estas bien Mira?" He asked
She shook her head and frowned.
"Trust me when I say you don't want to get in a fight with Isa her vines are everywhere and I don't want to get in the middle". Mirabel Whispered
"Don't worry I am sure it'll die down soon". Miguel smiled
Meanwhile Dolores continued to profusely apologise but Isa was burning fire with her eyes.
"I am really sorry Isa". Dolores started
Isabela just laughs and shook her head
"I was messing around it's okay I kind of knew beforehand , I was heading to the bathroom when I heard you whisper to yourself I already knew you liked Mariano don't get me wrong he's a nice guy but he's not my type, your much better suited for him anyway ". Isabela nodded
"So your not mad at me?" She coaxed her head
"Oh, I am still mad at you for lying, but I think I can let it go JUST DON'T EVER LIE TO ME AGAIN got it?" Isabela stated
"Si". Dolores hugged Isabela
"Okay now that is solved can we meet these new people ?" Camilo asked
"Please Anything to avoid another fight". Pedro whispered
"Si we may, Although get ready because there is going to be a lot of hugs". Layla warned
Just then Layla snapped her fingers and both Rivera's living and dead showed up. Luisa and Enrique were worried for Miguel and Socorro and hugged them tightly.
WHERE HAVE YOU TWO BEEN WE WERE WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU TWO DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN". Luisa panicked
"Lo siento Mamá ". They said through muffed apologises
"I will let you all get acquainted". Layla replied
For the next 45 minutes there were introductions passed around and hugs and reunion stuff going on they all were happy to see each other again and to make some new friends along the way.
"Hola Señor y Señora". Mirabel waved
"Hola Señorita it's lovely to meet you". Enrique smiled
"You too". Mirabel replies
She smiled and waved at all the Rivera's and Miguel smiled.
Once everyone was settled into their seats the movie started again.
Abuela Alma : "Wonderful such a fine young man for our perfect Isabela who will bring a new generation of Magical blessings and make both our families stronger ".
Abuela walked past Isabela and picked the white flower from her head, when Isa turned she saw Camilo disguised as Mariano making kiss faces at her to tease her. Isabela just rolled her eyes and flourishing flowers and Camilo transformed back and spit out flowers in the process.
"That was not funny by the way ". Isabela pointed out
"I know I just did that to piss you off and worked didn't it?" Camilo smirked
" Si I suppose mission success then are you happy now ?" Isabela smiled
"Si very much". Camilo smiled
Abuela Alma : "Okay our community is counting on us, La famila Madrigal ".
All (chanting) : "La famila Madrigal
Mirabel quickly hurried the chant and instantly got up from her chair.
Mirabel: "Luisa".
Mirabel found her sister already walking away ready to do her chores, Mirabel knew she had to catch up with her to find out what was wrong with the Magic so she ran past Isabela and in the process readjusted her glasses.
Mirabel: "Sorry".
Mirabel hurried after Luisa Isabela looked angry and looked like she was about to punch something.
Isabela: " What is your problem?"
"Really Isa is it that hard to get along with your sister". Augustin pointed out
"Si Papá, back then it was not the best relationship we had." Isabela pointed out
Mirabel smiled and she was glad to have the sister she loved back.
"Mira, I am really sorry for not being there for you all those years, but I promise I will try to be better". Isabela Promised
"Estas bien Isa I know you mean well and I promise to be a better sister from now on". Mirabel smiled
"Uh, this is not good I liked it better when you two hated each other". Camilo whined
"Don't start or I will tie you up so I suggest you keep your mouth shut". Mirabel replies
"Huh try me". Camilo stuck his tongue out
"Bien if that's what you want but I warned you". Mirabel replies
She grabbed one of her sisters vines and tied him to the chair and tight and she smirked and high fives her sister proud of her success.
" She's scary, but cool". Abel pointed out
"Mira, you're not gonna keep him tied up all day are you?" Miguel asked
"No just until he learns to keep his mouth shut and opinions to himself ". Isabela smiled
"Alright let us continue ". Layla said
Mirabel was running through town, but she soon found Luisa lifting the church.
Señora Guzman: "Luisa can you reroute the river".
Luisa : "On it".
"Hang on why do they need the river rerouted?" Rosa asked
"To be honest I have no idea". Luisa replies
Townsperson: "Luisa, the donkeys got out again ".
Luisa : "On it".
"Come on do you ever get a break and here I thought I was bad". Miguel pointed out
"No". She simply replied
"Really Mi princesa never got a break, turns out I was wrong it can get worse, really Mamá this is not good for Lu's health you're gonna break her". Bruno shook his head
"He's right Mamá my poor baby needs a break every now and then and we should've payed attention sooner ". Julieta stated
"Estas bien Mamá, Think about it this way I am much better thanks to Mira and listening to her advice and I have taken time to do the things I love, like reading I've already read six books". Luisa smiled
Mirabel smiled and laughed and so did the rest of the families who were glad to see Luisa doing better than ever. Julieta went and hugged her tightly and so did Isabela and Mirabel, smiles were shared all around then they went back to their seats and the movie continued.
The next part showed Mirabel climbing over a wall to get to her sister.
Mirabel: "Luisa, woah".
She tripped and fell on her face and then got up and readjusted her glasses.
Both families laughed at how clumsy Mira was whilst Mirabel was hiding under the blankets to hide from the embarrassment.
"Ay Mira Mija some things never change do they". Julieta chuckled
Socorro laughed and smiled at Mirabel and told that it was okay and that even she was clumsy sometimes, everyone else on the other hand agreed with her. Meanwhile Miguel on the hand laughed so hard that he nearly fell back off his chair.
"Que, What's picked at your funny bone?" Mirabel smirked
"Nada Mira, It's just your cute when your clumsy embrace it don't change it makes you unique". Miguel explains
Mirabel blushed profusely at his words she didn't know he thought of her as cute for her clumsiness she always thought of it as a bad thing.
"Did he just call you cute?" Isabela whispered excitedly
"I think he did, look at her she is as red as tomato ". Bruno said
Mirabel ran to try and catch up with her sister.
Mirabel: "Luisa, Hey ".
Mirabel: " You gotta tell me about the magic what's going on what are you hiding."
Luisa: " There's Nothing to tell".
"Mija, What did we say about pushing people to tell you something ". Julieta questions
"Not to do it". Mirabel replies
"Sorry Lu". Mirabel apologises
"Estas bien Mira". Luisa smiled
Luisa:" Nothing just got a lot of chores so Maybe you should just go home".
Luisa was trying to pick up donkeys when a townsperson Ushered her over asking to fix his house.
Townsperson : "Luisa My house is leaning to the-"
Luisa then kicked the house back into proper position and the man was surprised. Just then Mirabel jogged in front of Luisa to talk to her.
Mirabel: "Dolores says your eye was twitching and it never twitch's something is making you nervous".
Luisa: "Move you gonna make drop a donkey".
"Sorry Mira , I shouldn't have talked to you like that no matter if I was stressed ". Luisa said
"Estas bien, i was being pushy and you had a lot on your plate". Mirabel replies
"That's no excuse ". She nodded
Annoyed Mirabel moved so that Luisa had room to pick up donkeys, She was starting to get annoyed so she ran up behind her and asked her again.
Mirabel:"Ugh would you just tell me what it is".
Luisa continued to ignore her little sister and focus on her chores.
Mirabel:"Luisa if you know what's hurting the Magic and it gets worse because you won't tell me what's wrong".
Luisa looked like she was about to explode she then around to her sister and yelled.
Luisa:" Nothing's wrong".
"Yeah something is definitely wrong ". Camilo rolled his eyes
"Ya think Camilo, look at her she cracked she looked like she was about to break down". Abel exclaimed
Mirabel had a surprised look on her face she never seen her sister yell at her before
Luisa: " Sorry That snuck out there , what I meant was why would anything me wrong I'm totally fine Luisa is fine the magic's fine I'm totally not nervous".
"That's a lie ". Rosa points out
Luisa singing:
"I am the strong one I am not not nervous I am as tough as the crust of the earth is
I move mountains I move churches and I glow cause I know what my worth is".
Now it was Luisa's turn to feel embarrassed so she hid under the blankets to hide from embarrassment and The rest just looked at the screen, but Mirabel was starting to get worried about her sister she knew she had to Comfort her in someway she just had to figure out how.
Mirabel: "Okay, Hey where are you going ".
Mirabel was weirded out and saw the donkeys back out of the situation.
Luisa singing (Continued):
"I don't ask how hard the work is got a rough indestructible surface
Diamonds are platinum I find-'em I flatten them
I take what I'm how did I break what's demanded".
"But under the surface I feel berserk as a tightrope Walker in a three ring circus
Under the surface was Hercules ever like yo I don't want to fight Cerberus
Under the surface I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service".
Mirabel had enough she went over and hugged her sister tightly and told her that she was needed in this family and that she isn't worthless, Julieta looked like she's about to cry as her baby girl has been broken down for so many years and was surprised that she didn't tell them how she felt.
" A flaw or a crack straw in the stack what breaks the camel's back what breaks the camel's back
It's pressure that will drip, drip, drip that will never stop woah, pressure like a tip tip tip to just go pop woah

"Lu, you know you can ask for help if you need it right you do know that you don't have to take it on all at once, we are here if you you need us". Dolores squeaked
"Dolores is right Mi vida if you ever need help you can come to me or your Papá ". Julieta said
"Si I Will try and ask for help more often". Luisa agreed
"Under The surface I had my nerves and it worsens I worry something is gonna hurt us
Under the surface the ship doesn't swerve as it heard how big the iceberg is
Under the surface I think about my purpose can I have somehow preserve this
Lineup the Domino's the light wind blows
You try to stop at tumbling but on and on it goes".
"Really Mamá first Mira then Isa and now Lu this cannot go on like this you're hurting them". Bruno angers
"I know and I am sorry, I am sorry my darling for putting so much pressure on you I didn't know that this was happening please forgive me ". Alma shook her head
"Estas bien Abuela I know you meant well and I was just trying to make you happy , when I forgot what I wanted for once ". Luisa replied
"Please tell me you are doing what you want for once". Abel adds
"Si". She nodded
"Well I think we all learned something from this, which is why we should've never pressured our families even if we are still in pain and hurting everyone agreed?" Julio asked
"Your right Mi Amor ". Coco Nodded
Both the families nodded in stern agreement.
Luisa singing (continued):
" But wait, if I can shake the crushing weight of expectations would that free some room up for joy
Or relaxation or simple pleasure instead we measure this growing pressure
Keeps going, keeps growing".
Mirabel was holding with her sister and happy to see that she finally opened up to her about her true feelings.
Mirabel went over to her sister and looked her in the eyes and smiled.
"Feeling better now that it is all out?" Mirabel asked
"Si, Gracias Hermanita for everything you truly are our Miracle ". Luisa proudly stated
The girls then hugs tightly and Isabela couldn't resist but join the hug as well, As for everyone else they tried not to cry and all they did was smile at the girls and knew that things were getting better.
The next scene showed the two sisters coming back to reality, Luisa lifting a giant rock to keep them both from getting squashed Mirabel was terrified.
Luisa singing (continued):
" Cause all we know is pressure like a drip drip drip that will never stop Woah

And see if she can handle every family burden".
"Luisa , Mi vida we don't expect you to handle everything next time Carina just ask if you need a break". Pepa smiled
"Your Tia is right we share responsibilities now and we help each other out if you ever need help we are right here if you need us". Bruno replies
"Gracias Tio ". Luisa smiled
Bruno got up and hugged his Niece tight and she hugged back but gently so as not to break his bones.
"Watch as she buckles and bends but never breaks
No mistakes just pressure like the grip grip grip and it won't let go woah
Pressure like tip tip tip til it's ready to blow woah".
" Give it to your sister and never wonder if the same pressure would've pulled you under
Who am I if I don't have what it takes no cracks no brakes
No mistakes , No pressure".
Pedro was disappointed in his wife for putting his granddaughter under that much pressure, what happened to the woman he loves he'd ask himself. He went over and hugged his granddaughter and told her it was okay and that she was loved and appreciated for who she is and not her gift.
Mirabel: "I think you're carrying way too much".
Mirabel was pulled into a suffocating hug.
"Sorry Mira I didn't mean to squeeze you that hard". Luisa apologises
"Estas bien Lu it's okay I quite enjoy them actually ". Mirabel laughed
Luisa:" Maybe I overdo it".
Mirabel: "Yep". She said through the muffled hug
Luisa:" But there is something you should You know last night when you saw the cracks I felt weak".
She hugged Mira even further.
Mirabel: " W-w-what What ".
Townsperson: " Luisa the donkeys ".
Luisa: "On it".
"WOULD YOU JUST LEAVE THE BLOODY DONKEYS FOR TWO SECONDS SO I CAN FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG WITH THE MAGIC, OR BETTER YET FIX YOUR STUPID FENCE". Mirabel yelled
Everyone was surprised at Mira's outburst but didn't say anything.
"Uhh you Alright there Mira?" Rosa asked cautious
"Si, sorry its just he hasn't learned to fix things instead of relying on Luisa to do everything for him". Mirabel replies
"I agree Mira from now he can fix his own fence and put his own donkeys away unless they get out of control then I will help but other than that that's it I'm done". Luisa smiled
"That's my girl ". Augustin cheered
Mirabel: " Wait, Wait Wait what do you mean what do you thinks hurting the Magic?"
Luisa: "I don't know but I heard the grownups once, Before Tio Bruno left he had some horrible vision about it".
"Well your not wrong there princesa". Bruno pointed out
Mirabel: "Tio Bruno What in his vision?"
Luisa:" No one knows they never found it, but if something is wrong with the Magic start with Bruno's tower".
Mirabel: " How do I find a vision what am I even looking for?"
Luisa: "Once you find it you'll know but be careful that place is of limits for a reason".
Mirabel looked towards Casita she knew she just had to find a vision and find a way to get it somehow.
"Please don't tell me you gave her directions to my vision cave". Bruno shook his head
"I think she did Amigo ". Héctor whispered
"Okay to be fair I didn't actually think she would go in there". Luisa defended
They all look towards Mirabel and she had shrunken into her seat she was already wishing this was over…
