Chapter 6 : Your future awaits
"Mija is this true you went into Your Tíos vision cave even though you knew it was dangerous ". Pedro asked
"Si Abuelo, But I had to otherwise the family would've been worried and the Miracle would have died if I didn't do anything ". She stated
"Mira, you knew that was off limits for a reason and yet you still went in , Estoy muy enojando contigo Mariposa don't you ever do that again do you understand ". Bruno stated
"Si Tio". Mirabel looked down ashamed
"Buena, Te quiero si?" Bruno smiled
"Si". She smiled
The screen then lit up and showed the next scene showing Mirabel pushing open the door to her Tío's old room she looked around and saw so much sand running down near the door.
Mirabel: "Casita can you turn off The sand?"
"Really she doesn't know?" Camilo pointed out
Dolores whispered for him to shut up before things could Esculate.
"You idiot, sometimes I can't believe your my brother ". Dolores rolls her eyes
"Ouch that hurt how dare you think so little of me". Camilo pouted
Mirabel laughed along with her sisters at his Antics.
"Camilo maybe next time try not to whisper so loud". Rosa smiled
The titles of the floor guestuerd to say ' I can't help it in here'.
Mirabel: "You can't help it in here".
The tiles made another guesture as if to say 'Si, but will you be okay?'
Mirabel: " I'll be fine, I need to do this for you for Abuela and maybe a little for me".
"Notice how Mira is the only one that communicates with Casita?" Abel pointed out
"Your right Mijo , It's like she is talking to a real person". Carmen said
"Well, I can't help it besides Casita was my only friend and the only one who understood me and didn't push me aside". Mirabel exclaimed
"Ay Carina, We're not saying anything against you it's just we are very curious to see how you communicate with the house". Carmen retorted
"Lo siento señora It was a bit rude of me, I apologise". Mirabel replies
"Estas bein señorita ". Carmen smiled
Mirabel: " Find the vision, save the Miracle-"
Mirabel had accidentally landed face first into a sand dune and in the process swallowing a bunch of sand.
The entire theatre couldn't help but erupt out in laughter Some were even on the verge of tears, Mirabel flushed with embarrassment but laughed quietly at her own Antics.
"Okay I admit it, Maybe I should've checked before diving headfirst into this". Mirabel laughed
"I'd say that again Mira you swallowed so much sand". Miguel chuckled
"But it was pretty funny nonetheless ". Camilo exclaimed
Mirabel managed to find herself and gather the strength to get up , Whilst wiping her skirt and hair to shake free of all the sand as well as Emptying her glasses, She looked up at the long staircase leading to the top of her Tio's Tower.
Mirabel: "Woah ".
Just then Pico one of Antonio's toucan land on a rock beside Mirabel.
Mirabel: " Oh hello".
"Pico". Antonio yells
"Who's Pico?" Manny asked
"One of my birds sitting right next to Mirabel see?" Antonio pointed to the screen
"Oh that's who your were talking to". Rosa exclaimed
"Si, Fun fact toucans have one of the longest breaks in any species of bird cool right?" Antonio spat
"Wow I didn't know that ". Both twins said fascinated by the small fact
Mirabel looked at the toucan and smiled as it squeaked an 'Hola'.
Mirabel : " Lot of stairs but at least I will have a friend ". She looked toward the bird who flew away quickly .
Mirabel: "Nope he flew away immediately ". She groaned
"Pico you can't just leave Mi Prima like that that's mean". Antonio pouted
"We agree". The twins and Socorro nodded
"Estas bien, I am fine see?" Mirabel gestured to herself
"Si, but still Pico should have been there with you what if you got hurt?" Socorro asked
"Socorro I am fine I promise you and if anything did happen Pico would sense it , Birds can sense danger in case of Emergency ". Mirabel said
"Ok". Socorro replied unsure of weather to believe her.
"Mira please don't tell me your going to climb those stairs". Camilo looked unsure
"Looks like it Amigo ". Rosa said
Mirabel : " Alright, Welcome to the family Madrigal ". She jogged as she sung the family tune
Then a little while later she stopped halfway having to catch her breath, The further she walked up the stairs the harder it became to speed up, She slowly stopped singing and Continued walking up the long flight of stairs.
Mirabel : "You'd think there'd be another way to get so high because were magic but no, imagine how many stairs fit in here, Bruno your room is the worst!!" She screamed out of breath
"Tell me about it Mariposa I am actually surprised you managed to make it up all those stairs ". Bruno sighed
"Please tell me you have fewer stairs now that looks tiring ". Franco asked
"Si, Much shorter now". Bruno replied
"Good I don't think I would bother walking up those stairs every day ". Elena added
The next scene showed Mirabel making it to the top and using her hands to pull herself up so she can reach the end. She looked and saw that the bridge was broken off and there was no way of getting across.
Mirabel : "Come On". She sighed
Both families sighed in annoyance and anger as they watched the scene play out.
"Well that's it we can give up, we can leave now right?" Abel sated
"Ha Ha very funny Abel". Héctor replies
"I mean there's no possibility Mira will get to the other side ". Elena shook her head
"Well my dears that's where you are wrong, Number one rule about señorita Mirabel never underestimate her, She is certainly not one to give up". Layla chimed in
"Wait don't Tell us… What I think your gonna tell us Mirabel ". Miguel looked towards Mirabel
"Yes?" She said slowly
Then without a second thought Mirabel grabbed the bridge's post and rope and tied it tightly around herself and then looks directly down to the ground then looked toward the broken bridge and hyped herself to make the jump.
"MIRABEL VALENTINA ROJAS MADRIGAL YOU HAD BETTER NOT YOU KNOW HOW DANGEROUS THAT IS". Both Bruno and Julieta yelled
"Sorry". Mirabel shrugged
She then proceeds to make the jump…
Everyone in that Moment held their Breath hoping Mirabel had made to the other side Safety without breaking anything.
Surprisingly she made it over to the other side safety and in a cheer of celebration Mirabel had Made it and in the process broken off a further piece of said bridge, The piece of bridge fell with a thud and Mirabel winced at the sound Pico looked at her with a look as if to say 'really '.
Everyone let out a huge sigh of relief as the girl made it safely back onto the other side, Julieta went over to her daughter's seat and hugged her so tightly she pushed all the air out of her lungs stronger than Luisa's.
"Don't you EVER do that again". Julieta scolds
"Lo siento Mamá ". She apologised
"You almost gave me a heart attack". Julieta sighed
To be honest Julieta I think she all gave us one". Coco pointed out
Meanwhile while she looked towards her Tio still stunned and trying to comprehend what just happened.
"Tio?" She cautiously asked
"I cannot believe you did that, DO YOU KNOW HOW DANGEROUS THAT REALLY IS YOU GAVE ME A MASSIVE PANIC ATTACK. THERE IS A RESON MY CAVE IS OFF LIMITS , IF YOU EVER THINK ABOUT DOING THAT AGAIN I AGREE WITH YOUR MAMÁ WE WILL PUT A LEASH ON YOU UNDERSTAND YOUNG LADY?" Bruno starts
"Si Tio". Mirabel finished
The next scene shows Mirabel walking slowly into the vision cave with Pico following behind her carefully, As she was walking she suddenly heard a thud and turns out Pico accidentally knocked over an old vase with holes in it and some rats came pouring out and started running to secret places one even up the nose of a Bruno pictured plaque and it looked disgusting.
"Well that's unsettling ". Miguel said
"I agree Mijo". Imelda looked disgusted
Mirabel slowly opened the door to the massive Vision cave and looked shocked, Meanwhile Pico was so scared he flew out and left Mira behind.
Mirabel: " Quitter".
"Pico bad toucan no dessert for a week for leaving Mi Prima like that ". Antonio piped
"We agree". Socorro and the twins nodded
" I am concerned , What if she doesn't make it out?" Berto said
"Remember What I said About Mirabel being not one to give up?" Layla starts
"Yes?" Luisa questioned
"Well put a pin in that thought". Layla stated
Mirabel slowly trenched in the sand and walked slowly inside as she walked inside she'd forgotten how big it really was
Mirabel "Huh Empty".
Just as she turned to reach the door It quickly shut on her making it locked in from the inside.
"She's doomed". Camilo said
Dolores slapped him hard in the shoulder to shut him up, Meanwhile Felix was looking with dissatisfaction at what his son had just said everyone had rolled their eyes in disdain and Camilo nervously smiled as he ignored the eyes that followed waiting for more ridiculous comments .
"How are you gonna get out now your locked inside". Rosa asked
"Remember that Pin take it out". Layla comments
Mirabel slowly turned back around and as she did so she saw a bright shade of green reflections hidden deep in the sand, She decided to dig through the sand finding part of the vision but only a shard.
Mirabel : " What's hurting the Magic?"
Meanwhile Alma was sweeping up petals from Isabela when she suddenly saw the candle start to flicker a top the windowsill where it sat.
"Oh No". Bruno sighed
"Mira, Darling be very careful I don't want you cutting yourself ". Pedro added
"Si Abuelo Lo prometo". Mirabel smiled
She then continued to dig through the sand and found two other pieces of vision slowly putting them together and as she did so she didn't realise that the vision cave was cracking around her with every piece she had put together.
"MIRABEL GET OUT OF THERE IT'S NOT SAFE". Enrique yelled to the onscreen version of the girl
" I agree get out of there before it crashes ". Rosa agreed
Both Julieta and Bruno held their breaths as they watched the cave starting to crack leaving Mirabel oblivious to what was going around her.
She slowly put the pieces together to reveal a tiny version of her etched in glass frame.
Mirabel :"Me?"
Sand starts pouring slowly onto the vision, Mirabel slowly turns to look up and noticed the cave starting to break, So quickly she grabbed each one of the shards and stuffed them into her bag, As chunks of the cave were falling, She quickly dodged the broken pieces.
"Get out of there Mira". Miguel yelled
"Run, Run!!" Manny and Benny yelled
Everyone held their breaths as they watched with fear and anxiety and dread of what was to come next, Bruno kept staring intensely at the screen not taking his eyes of for one single moment, Julieta had her head buried into Augustin's shoulder as she couldn't bear to watch the sight.
The next part shows Mirabel running but not before turning back and digging through to find the last bit of the vision she quickly stuffs it in the bag and runs whilst on the way tripping up and almost loosing her glasses, She ran dodging another piece of the cave and made it to the door.
She tried pushing open but to no avail It was still locked and as the sand began to rise Mirabel pushed even harder to pry the door open, Meanwhile outside the vision cave rats were scurrying out quickly across to the other side. Mirabel managed to fiddle with the lock and made it out safely sand pouring out from build up.
Mirabel had tumbled out covered in sand and she had made it out, When she had opened her eyes she was close to the edge she quickly jumped back and took a moment to breathe.
Mirabel: "Woah".
"Wow scary ". Abel stated
"I'll say you almost died". Héctor pointed out
Bruno then paused the movie looked at his niece directly in the eyes, Bruno looked mad Mirabel slowly got up from her seat and backed away slowly she then began to run Bruno however blocked her path from going anywhere.
"You want to explain what just happened young lady?" Bruno asked slowly
"See… I …I didn't mean…. What I meant to say was…" she stumbled over her words
"Go on I'm waiting ". Bruno crossed his arms
Bruno wasn't one to get mad that often but when It did happen it was like a fire had erupted and it would take a few days to Cool down .
Mirabel signalled for help from her siblings and cousins but they just watched saying nothing .
Bruno pinches the bridge of his nose and sighed.
"Mirabel you do realise that was dangerous so very dangerous I told you not to go in there there's a reason my cave is off-limits, what if you didn't make it". Bruno explains
"I know and I am sorry but if didn't do this Our house our family our Miracle would all die at the hands of me causing it". Mirabel apologised
"Mira." Julieta sighed
"I just wanted to make you all proud even without a gift ". She sunk to the floor
"Ay Mariposa, don't you see you make us all very proud of you. You are a rare jewel in a rhinestone world you Never needed a gift to make us love you as much as we do and we love you so very very very much ". Pedro said as he hugged her tightly
"Really?" She looked up
"Si more than you'll ever know, You did something only people dream of doing and for that we will forever be grateful ". Pedro replies
"Abuelo is right Mira, without you we never would have understood ourselves the way you do and you showed what it was like without our gifts". Isabela chimes in
"Si, when I was at my gift ceremony you showed me it's okay to be nervous and that you'll still love me even if I didn't get a gift ". Antonio states
Bruno then went up and kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly.
"Over the years, I have watched you between those cracks in the walls grow into an amazing resilient thoughtful kind young woman with nothing but a heart of gold". Bruno compliments
"Don't forget fiery temper ". Rosa said
"Si, that too". Bruno laughed
"Gracias, I needed that and I love you all". Mirabel replies
"Just know that we are here for you whenever you need us okay Mija". Imelda starts
"Si, I'll remember that". Mirabel promised
The next scene shows Mirabel rushing out of her Tio's room and running down the stairs and on the way crashing into Alma.
"Hang on, now did you get back to the other side Mija?" Elena asked
"Don't ask". Mirabel replies
Mirabel then ran down the hallway and bumped into Alma on her way to her room.
Abuela Alma: "Where are you coming from in such a hurry".
Mirabel: "I-I was just".
Abuela Alma: " What is in your hair".
Just then Luisa pops out looking like she had been crying tears flowing down her cheeks
Luisa: "My gift, I am loosing my gift".
Abuela Alma : "What".
Luisa: "Mirabel and I will having this little talk, and I realise that was carrying too much so when I tried to carry so much I realised it was putting in behind me so I started grabbing all the donkeys but when I went to go to the donkeys in the barn and they were heavy".
"Luisa princesa, You realise it Okay to take breaks when you need it". Bruno stated
"I know that now, It's just that I wanted to help so badly that if I didn't do it I would be useless ". Luisa replied
"Lu, you're never useless in fact your amazing and we are very lucky to have a sister like you. When you saw Mira and me fighting almost constantly who broke us up?" Isabela asked
"Me". Luisa smiled
"And who loved doing Painting classes with Dolores and got covered in paint by the time you two finished ". Camilo added
"Me". Luisa smirked
"And who made that charm bracelet for me on my birthday?" Antonio piped
"I did". She smiled
"See Lu, Just being You is all that we need and no gift required for that". Mirabel replies
She then got up and hugged her tightly and the rest followed including the Rivera kids, When they broke apart they wen back to their seats.
"Thanks guys". She smiled
Onscreen Mirabel and Alma stood there speechless as Luisa ran crying to her room.
Abuela Alma: "What did you do , what did you say to her?"
Mirabel: "Nothing I –"
Just then the church bell rang Signalling that it was late afternoon, Abuela walked away from Mirabel to go get her guests for the big proposal dinner.
Abuela Alma : " Mirabel, I have to get the Guzman's for Isabela's engagement tonight we can't have any more problems and whatever you're doing stop doing it".
Before Anyone could say anything, surprisingly Isabela looked annoyed and mad and wanted to say something.
"YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN TALK TO MY SISTER LIKE THAT LIKE SHE'S THE PROBLEM, ABUELA SHE SAVED ME FROM MAKING THE WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE WHICH I COULDN'T TAKE BACK AND SHE HELPED DOLORES WITH MARIANO, SO SHE IS NOT THE PROBLEM IF ANYTHING SHE IS THE SOLUTION WHICH WE FAILED TO REALISE . I SPENT YEARS AWAY FROM HER BECAUSE YOU ASKED ME TO THE STUPIDEST THINGS GRANTED SOME OF IT WAS MY FAULT BUT STILL I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN THERE FOR HER THEN BUT I AM NOW, SO DON'T EVER TALK DOWN TO MY SISTER AGAIN". Isabela yelled
Everyone in the room was shook at the Outbreak Of Isabela's words , Luisa smiled and backed her sister up and Mirabel smiled and looked thankful.
"Mira, Lo siento mucho you know I never thought of you as a problem and if you thought that it is completely unacceptable of me to say such a think I am very sorry Mija ". Alma apologises
"Esta bien, I know you're changing and I know you love me but it's still gonna take a while for me to trust you but I will always love you no matter how unfair things may seem". Mirabel exclaimed
"Si, I understand ". She nodded
The next scene shows Mirabel running to her room and laying the vision pieces out on her desk as she carefully looked at them.
Mirabel: " Why am I Your vision Tio Bruno?"
Bruno sighed and turned to his Sonbrina and shook his head laughing.
"Oh dear lord, Ay Mirabel ". Bruno smiled
This was going to be rough…
