Chapter 8 : The jinxed dinner
Augustin stares at the now revealed vision in shock while his daughter his standing to the side.
Mirabel: "I broke into Bruno's tower a found his last vision the family is in trouble, the Magic is dying Luisa's gift is fading and I think it all because of me". Mirabel rambled
"Wow That was a lot to take in". Héctor whispered
"You can say That again ". Augustin starts
Mirabel : " Papá?
Augustin still reeling in shook after what happened and then he shook his head out of his thoughts.
Augustin: " We say nothing Abuela wants tonight to be perfect so til the Guzman's leave you did not break into Bruno's tower the Magic is not dying and Luisa's gift is not fading just act normal no one has to know".
"Absolute denial on the table here". Oscar and Felipe point out
"You think?" Victoria replies
"I'd wager about 2 seconds before Dolores finds out". Layla cuts in
"Not disagreeing with you there señorita Layla ". Imelda nods
Just then the door creaked open and Dolores hummed and looked directly at her Prima and Tio.
Dolores:" I know". She squeaked
Dolores then quietly walked away Augustin and Mirabel left shook.
Mirabel : " She's gonna Tell Everyone ".
Augustin: "Miércoles".
"Augustin Madrigal you don't say that to our daughter you are worse then Pepa when it comes to that!" Julieta yelled
"Lo siento Mi amor it slipped out". He apologises
"Don't worry Mamá I didn't repeat it ". Mirabel reassures
"Good Please don't let it happen agian". Julieta stated
Abuela Alma : "Time To eat".
The next scene shows all the Madrigal family sitting down for the dinner.
Abuela Alma: " The madrigals And the Guzmáns will be so good for the Encanto".
Señora Guzmán: "Yes Let's just hope tonight isn't a horrible disaster".
"She's gonna jinx it". Abel stated
"Si, This is not gonna go down well". Rosa said
"Yep clear observations". Bruno replies
Abuela Alma: " To a perfect night".
All: "salud ".
Meanwhile while both Dolores and Mirabel were having a staring contest to keep Dolores from spilling what she knows. Both girls were holding each other's gaze and not looking all while Mirabel was scooping food into her bowl.
"I wonder how long that's gonna keep up". Socorro asked
"I don't know Mija ". Elena shook her head
"Let's just hope she can blink by the end of it". Héctor replied
Dolores looked She was about to blow but Mirabel kept her stare that was until the avocado was passed around.
Mariano: " Avocado".
The bowl was passed from Isabela and Mirabel instantly put the bowl down and checked and not a second later Dolores was already telling Camilo.
"Well it didn't take long for her to tell someone, I am surprised she kept Bruno's secret but this she couldn't keep for one second". Berto explains
"Sorry prima, i shouldn't have spilled". Dolores started
"It's okay I mean I know you had a lot to keep quiet , besides if you didn't we wouldn't be here you would have never got to be with Mariano and I wouldn't have stopped the engagement So Isabela would have to marry a man she didn't love.
"Si, I guess it's true I never thanked you for that". Dolores smiled
"You don't need to thank me Loli ". Mirabel smiled
"Oh but I do I would have married a man I didn't love and all because I couldn't say no; Muchas Gracias Hermanita for everything I am Sorry for everything i did i love you Hermanita ". She hugged Mirabel
"Si, te quiero Isa para siempre ". Mirabel smiled
Dolores: " She found Bruno's vision ".
At that Camilo shapeshifts into Mirabel then Bruno for a split second and transforms back into himself but this time with his face bugged out .
Felix: "Camilo Fix your face".
Abuela Alma poured a glass of wine for the guests to pretend to ingnore the distraction that was happening.
"That's weird ". Carmen and Luisa started
"Let's just say shapeshifting makes you do weird things especially when something shocks or scares me". Camilo replies
"That makes sense". Coco finished
Isabela: "Water". She passes the jug and Mirabel puts it down
Camilo then proceeds to whisper to his father that Mirabel found Bruno's vision and at that Felix spits out his water all over Señora Guzman and Mariano hoping to cover it up with his coughing.
Alma looks concerned then shrugs it off and asks her granddaughter to pass the cream.
Mirabel: Papá the cream".
"Yeah okay subtle is nethier of your strong suits ". Victoria laughed
"Mhm i agree with you there vic". Rosita chuckled
Felix then turned to his wife and told her that Mirabel found Bruno's vision and at hearing this Pepa's cloud grew with worry.
Alma saw this and tried to calm the situation.
Abuela Alma: "Pepa your cloud".
Pepa: "clear skies, clear skies, clear skies ".
"Mamá you need to stop doing that with the whole ' clear skies' thing you only want Pepi to control her weather well news flash it is not helping only making worse". Julieta said
"Lo siento Mijas I guess I just put too much pressure ". Alma whispered
"Si Mamá te quireo". They smiled
Pepa proceeds to tell Julieta what had happened and at this she looks at daughter with concern, Mirabel on the other hand looks away and starts drinking some juice. Then she stops and notices the cracks are starting to form again and she takes a deeper look that is until Mariano snapped her out of it.
Mariano: "Mirabel ".
At her name being called she bangs her head from underneath the table and rubs the sore spot.
Mariano: " Everything Okay?"
She answers the onscreen Mariano quite quickly.
"No it is not I am trying to keep this from happening our Casita is cracking I might of ruined my sister's proposal in less than 2 minutes and in the process caused a lot of havoc causing a disaster causing Abuela to be mad at me so everything and everyone is NOT fine". Mirabel rambled
"Mira are you … ok?" Abel stated
"Lo siento I just had to let it out". Mirabel apologises
"No apologies needed it's okay you were probably the only apart from Dolores that kept quiet all these years". Layla replied
Augustin: " Everything is great She's Just excited for you to propose which you should do as fast as you can".
Mirabel: "yes".
Mariano: "I was actually gonna-"
She turns Isabela to face Mariano and brush off her shoulders.
Mirabel: "Your actually gonna great ".
"Well this is not gonna end well". Enrique said
"What did I tell you never jinx it ". Abel exclaimed
Mariano looked towards his mother asking for help and she gladly took the opportunity .
Señora Guzman: "W-w-well since Everyone here has a talent my Mariano wanted to begin with a song".
Señora Guzman: " Luisa can you bring over the piano ".
Luisa : " Okay ". She cried
Is it just me or did I just figure out something ". Miguel stated
"What is it Chamaco?" Héctor asked
"Well notice how Casita's cracks start to get bigger from under the table since their hidden and notice how Mirabel is hiding her actual feelings just so she doesn't cause more damage ". Miguel points to the screen
"Si, I see it too Hermano". Socorro nods
"See what?" Bruno asked
"Well think about it Mirabel's emotions are tied to you Casita, think about when Mirabel is upset you're upset and when She's happy you're happy and when she feels like her emotions are bubbling to the surface that's the cracks of her internal pain". He explains
"Plus she's the only apart from Señora Alma that can communicate with the house". Miguel adds
"How did you figure that out so fast?" Mirabel asked
"Clear observation Mira". Miguel laughs
"Ha Ha very funny". Mirabel rolls her eyes
"It is true Mi vida I hate seeing you like this all upset and besides I knew you were our Miracle from day one". Casita states
"So let me get this straight we have been ignoring all Mira's signs for help". Camilo replies
"Pretty much, Although there is two people that helped ' heal her cracks' per say". Layla explains
"Who?" Rosa asked
Then Layla pointed to Antonio and Bruno.
"Us?" They both looked surprised
"How did we help?" Bruno asked
"I'll give you an example when Mirabel's birthday rolled around and it was her 15th birthday she had made a dress and had a tiara on and the shoes and Antonio was the only one that wished her happy birthday and that made her smile it made a crack disappear even more if you get what I mean". Casita explains
" I remember that she so sad until I climbed up and gave her a massive hug ". Antonio remembered
"WAIT A SECOND YOU FORGOT ABOUT HER QUINCESENRA". Rosa yells
They all looked down in shame and sadnesses and Mirabel had a small but fake smile on her face.
"That is not right". Abel stated
"Okay but what does that have to do with me?" Bruno asked
"Oh Bruno my dear you do not get it; When she was born you were mostly taking care of her you made her feel loved and appreciated and wanted. I mean you called her Mariposa ever since she was little she loved spending time with you apart from Julieta and Augustin you were the only other one she'd ever get close to. Because the rest of the family only cared about what gift she might have and you on the other hand you didn't care if she got a gift or not to you she was still Mariposa your Sonbrina. Layla replied
"And when you left she didn't know you left to protect her and keep her safe and that was when the cracks started showing, loosing you meant loosing the memory of her fun Tio the one Always made her smile and made her feel loved and appreciated it broke you both. Casita added
"Really?" Bruno questioned
"Si Tio, it's true I didn't know the cracks were caused by emotions but what Miss Layla and Casita said is true I love you so much and when you left it broke me and I didn't even know I was causing cracks I just didn't want to loose you". Mirabel smiled
Bruno then hugged her really tight and placed kisses on her forehead.
"Oh mi Mariposa it broke me to leave you too, you know I love you so very much and I promise I am NEVER leaving again". Bruno promised
Mirabel: "Actually it's family tradition to sing after".
She then shifted to get Mariano on his knees .
Then Mariano starts his proposal speech.
Mariano: "Isabela the most graceful of all the Madrigals".
Mirabel then turned to see a crack and jumped on it to stop it from showing.
Mariano: "Um."
Mirabel: "You're doing great ."
"Nice job covering it up Mira". Camilo rolls his eyes
"Well what do you expect me to do show the cracks and then get the people of Encanto worried I don't think so". Mirabel replies
Mariano: " The most perfect flower in all of the Encanto".
Mirabel then looks to see Two of Antonio 's red tailed lemurs take parts of the vision out of Augustin's pocket , Meanwhile Luisa is struggling with the piano and starts crying. Mirabel sees the Pair take the vision and put them together on the plate she dives underneath the table and tries to retrieve it.
Mirabel: " No".
Mariano: "Will you marry me?"
"Well this absolute chaos". Elena starts
"Tell me about it Mi Amor Isabela does not look happy". Franco adds
"Not to mention the fact that Mirabel just dived under the table". Rosa said
"Well this is embarrassing , I am going to crawl into a hole and never come out enjoy the rest of the movie ". Mirabel ducked under the blankets
"Ah Ah Ah Miss Mirabel Valentina Rojas Madrigal nice try but this not something you can not pass". Casita laughs
The next scene shows More crying from Luisa and Pepa's cloud growing bigger and scaring pico in the process thunder roared from worry and anxiousness from Pepa.
Señora Guzman: "What is happening ".
Dolores: " Mirabel found Bruno's vision she's in it she's gonna destroy the magic and now we are all doomed".
"Dolores Andrea Madrigal you don't just throw your Prima under the bus like that that is not okay". Pepa scolded
"Lo siento Mamá ". Dolores apologises
"Sorry Prima it just got too much for me but still that's no excuse for snitching on you like that I'm sorry". Dolores started
"Estas bien Prima , besides I am kind of glad you exploded because if you didn't I would have never been able to find the source of the problem ". Mirabel smiled
"Que, I thought you would be mad at me!?" Dolores yells
"How can I when you told the truth ". She replies
"No I will not expect that be mad at me yell at me scream at me just do something that isn't apologising for once just please do it". Dolores begged
"No I am not gonna do it". Mirabel said
"Please just let it out". Dolores begged
"She is giving you free rein here just take it". Camilo replies
"Haven't I already yelled enough throughout this entire experience ". Mirabel explains
"Please just do it Mira". Dolores started
"YOU WANT MAD OKAY LETS START WITH THE FACT THAT YOU HEARD ME CRY EVERY NIGHT AND DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING EVEN THOUGH I REALLY NEEDED TO BECAUSE I AM TOO STUPID TO ASK FOR HELP, LETS NOT FORGET THAT NOT ONLY 2 SECONDS LATER YOU DOBBED ON ME FOR RUINING OUR FAMILY HOME FINDING TIO'S VISION EVEN THOUGH I KNOWS ITS GONNA COME DOWN TO ME. IN THE END JUST KNOWING THAT EVERYTHING AT THE HANDS OF ME SO YES I AM MAD BUT I AM TOO AFRAID TO LET IT OUT BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO HURT YOU HAPPY!?" Mirabel screams at the top of her lungs
Dolores hugged her Prima tightly and Mirabel sunk to the floor.
"Si, very much and Mira you could never hurt my feelings I just needed you to get it off your chest I know I haven't been the Prima or hermana you deserve but I promise I'll try to be better from now on and know that love you very much". Dolores whispered
"Gracias Loli, god that felt good and wrong at the same time but I'm glad it's off my chest". Mirabel sighed
The lemurs then jump on the table knock the vision toward Alma knocking the glasses of wine off the table in the process.
Alma then looked at the vision in shock and then towards Mirabel, Meanwhile the cracks are spreading everywhere and Mirabel is looking horrified so do Julieta and Augustin with Dolores covering her ears because of the noise, Camilo glitching Of transformations out of shock and fear Felix looking at his son surprised and lastly Pepa trying to calm down her growing cloud as well Isabela punching Mariano in the nose subconsciously with her flowery vine.
"Well That was… chaotic and crazy". Miguel started
"I'm speechless ". Imelda shook
"I'd agree with you there Mi Amor ". Héctor whispered
"No I agree Señora Imelda I have no words". Layla agreed
The next scene shows the community showing a congratulations sign, Meanwhile the family and the Guzmans are getting soaked in Pepa's rain.
All: " felicidades".
The community looking shook about what has happened the pastor even signs a cross to get rid of the evil spirits.
The Guzman's then run out of the room with Mariano's nose being bruised with Alma following behind.
"Please don't tell me your about to blame on this on Mirabel ". Julio rolled his eyes
" I think they are Papá ". Victoria added
Abuela Alma : " Señora por favor ".
Mirabel: " Abuela Please There's got to be an explanation ".
Isabela: " I hate you".
Luisa: " Ah I'm a loser ".
Augustin: "Luisa ".
Pepa: " What did you do?!"
Bruno paused the movie and rightfully so.
"How dare you take it all on Mirabel when she did absolutely nothing, Miguel was right when he said we need to earn her trust back. You don't put the blame on her like that she didn't do anything she didn't deserve that you all should be ashamed of yourselves ". Bruno looked annoyed
"I agree you all just assumed our Mariposa had something to do with it when you know jumping to conclusions in never the right answer. Pedro agreed
"I don't think she would ever do that, you all underestimate Mirabel way too much". Miguel looked furious
"Gracias that's very sweet". Mirabel thanked
The rest of the family looked down in shame all but Antonio.
Mirabel: "I'm not doing anything it Bruno 's vision it's-"
"Sorry for throwing you under the bus Tio I shouldn't have done that". Mirabel apologises
"It's okay Mija I've been through worse". Bruno shook off
"Still I am sorry I never should have said anything ". Mirabel replies
The next scene shows rats scurrying across the floor carrying the pieces of the vision Mirabel watched as they hurried, then flicking back to Alma she looked like she was about to explode.
Abuela Alma: " The Magic is strong everything is fine we are the Madrigals".
Pepa's dark hovers over the Entire Encanto as Alma slams the door to Casita.
Abuela Alma: " Mirabel!" Lightening flashes as thunder roars
"Well this unsettling to say the least". Abel starts
"I wonder what Mirabel is gonna do now". Socorro and the twins answer
