Man, I don't know if it's because I've been reading tons of books recently, but I am invigorated! Maybe it's because of where we are in the story too. It gets interesting from here!
Also, side note, did you guys get a notification for the last chapter? I hate to sound pompous, but it took longer from a few reviews to come in than I thought it would. Just curious!
Enjoy!
Elise felt bad that they hadn't kept their promise to Hisui. All they had asked was that they not cause any damage down here, and yet here they were, dragon skeletons blowing apart as Secarus attacked. They have to explain themselves formally once this was over.
Speaking of Secarus, she dodged a razor-sharp thread of blood and back-flipped over a nearby mound, breaking line of sight with the dragon.
"Where are you running, ladies?!" Secarus demanded with a laugh, "don't tell me you're all bark and no bite!" Elise gritted her teeth at this, trying to think of a plan. She'd gotten separated from Wendy and Nashi, so she had to find them. But in the mean time, Secarus wasn't going to let her go. So she needed to attack and draw attention to herself. They stood little chance alone. Turning her arm into a sword, she jumped from her hiding place and soared towards Secarus, who grinned up at her with Drake's mouth as she approached. He met her blade with his bare hand, stopping it dead.
"There's the little one," he sneered. It looked wrong on Drake's face, and that fact made her even angrier.
"Give Drake back," she hissed.
"A tempting offer," Secarus replied, feigning a look of thought. "Sadly, I must refuse. It's been many years since I controlled living flesh. I want to enjoy myself!" A ball of blood formed in his free hand, and from it spawned countless threads of blood that flew at Elise and cut at her from endless angles. Defending herself with her iron scales, Elise backed off and gathered her breath in her lungs, waiting for the blood to abate.
"Iron Dragon Roar!" Turning back, Elise sent her breath attack at Secarus. The dragon made no attempt to move, and allowed the spell to envelop him. Elise watched with narrowed eyes, waiting to see the effect of her spell.
"Ah, so you have been trained by Metalicana," Secarus' voice came. As the dust cleared, Elise saw Drake's body was unharmed. She was glad for that, but not that she seemed to have no effect on him. Secarus picked up a scrap of iron from the ground and inspected it quietly.
"You do taste wonderful, my dear," she said. Elise watched, shocked, as Secarus bit at the iron scrap. Just like that, the iron bent and turned into blood, which Secarus drank happily.
"How did you do that?" She demanded.
"Don't you know there's iron in blood, my dear?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "No, I suppose you don't. You don't strike me as someone intelligent."
"What the hell did you just-"
"Fire/Sky Dragon Wing Attack!" Before Elise could say anything more, Wendy and Nashi appeared fro, behind Secarus and attacked him together. The oxygen provided by Wendy's attack caused Nashi's flames to roar, and a massive explosion sounded directly on top of Secarus. He roared angrily, but Elise could not see what had happened before Wendy grabbed her and backed away, bouncing at least half a mile away with the winds. When they finally stopped they were taking shelter inside a dragons rib cage, which would have been creepy were in not for the situation they were in.
"Thanks for the save," Elise said, Nashi nodding.
"Good job keeping him distracted," she replied. Wendy frowned back in the direction they came from.
"This is bad," she said, "if we don't hurry, Secarus might take too strong a hold of Drake. We need to hurry."
'So what's the plan, then?" Elise asked. Wendy was silent for a moment, before she turned back to them.
"The plan is this: You two run. Nashi, run back above ground and tell Hisui everything. Spare no details if she asks. Make sure no one comes down here after us. Elise, guard the exit. If I fall, I'll have hurt him enough for you to end him."
"What?!" Nashi demanded. "You're going to fight him alone?!"
"Of course I am!" Wendy snapped. Elise had never seen the healer lose her temper like this. "Do you two not realise what's happening here?! That's a real dragon in Drake's body! I don't doubt both of you are powerful, but against a real dragon? A real one?"
"We can help!" Elise said, "I'm not leaving you!"
"Neither am I!" Nashi exclaimed.
"Listen to me!" Wendy shouted, her expression angry. No, not angry. Scared. Wendy was scared. "If you two stay here, you'll slow me down! I'll be too focused on helping you two instead of helping Drake! I need to fight at my full power if we're going to save him!"
"But you're an enchanter!" Elise replied, "Just enchant us to be more powerful! I'm not leaving! I want to help!"
"Me too!" Nashi said angrily. Wendy let out a sigh and rubbed her temples with her fingers, looking up again.
"Do you two doubt me?" She asked lowly. A chill went down Elise's spine as the wind around them whipped violently. "I know I took up the post as guild healer, but let me be clear; I could rival both of your fathers easily. I am not a weakling."
"We know that," Nashi said when Elise faltered. "But I want to help Drake. I'm not going to run now. Whatever you're plan is, let us help We can take him down together."
"Exactly," Elise said, "we aren't weak either. Let us help you, Wendy." Wendy gave them both a look, but neither of them backed down. Finally, she sighed and closed her eyes.
"You two are just like your parents," she hissed. "Damn it, fine. Listen closely. The only way I can think of to get Secarus out of Drake's body is for me to infuse Milky Way into my offensive attacks."
"Can you do that?" Nashi asked.
"I've done it before with healing magic," Wendy replied, "So I should be able too. Milky Way summons dragon souls, so if I tinker with the casting a bit I should be able to repel them with it too...But I need time. Time to cast it, and then time to fight Secarus. Can you both hold him off while I figure it out?"
"Do you think we can?" Elise asked. She hated to voice her doubt, but this was a bad situation. "You said you doubted our strength because of Secarus'. Can we hold him off?" Wendy watched her quietly for a moment before she shrugged.
"I don't know, but you'll need too." She said, "Let me be clear, both of you; do not hold back. You need to aim to kill, because Secarus will. If you hesitate because it's Drake, he'll kill you. Go Dragon Force, activate a second element, it doesn't matter. If you don't aim to kill him, he'll kill you. That's all there is too it. Do you understand?" Elise nodded and sighed, stretching her back.
"So you want us to kick Drake's ass," she said. "Simple enough. I do it all the time."
"Do you?" Nashi asked bemusedly.
"Yeah, absolutely. He lies."
"Sure he does."
After the combined attack from Nashi and Wendy, the graveyard had gone quiet. There was no one visible save for Drake, or rather Secarus, as he stalked after the scent of the women. He loved the thrill of the hunt, the pulsing of the blood in their veins as they panicked. It was suck a sweet sound.
Sadly for him, the hunt would not last much longer. The predator was no longer the one hunting.
Before he could react to it, a massive club of iron soared out of the darkness towards him and slammed into his midsection, forcing him to grind his feet into the dirt to avoid getting sent flying. He grinned as looked up, seeing two of his prey coming back to him. He could find the other one later.
Speaking of those two, their magic was stronger than before. This must have been what they called Dragon Force. They both had scales all over their arms and face, but they were very clearly still human. Secarus laughed.
"Do you intend to mock your friend?" He asked, "To use the power that has accelerated his own suffering! How vain!"
"We're going to give you one more chance," the shorter one said. "Release Drake back to us, now."
"Are you stupid?" Secarus demanded, "If I give up the boys body, his Dragon Seed will speed the transformation up! He won't last another week if I'm taken away from him now!"
"Drake would rather that than let a dragon like you use him!" The pink one said. "So last chance!" Secarus just laughed again, power leaking from his frame.
"Come then, girls. Take away your friends one last chance at normalcy. I won't begrudge you, but he might!
Neither Nashi or Elise let Secarus' taunts distract them, no matter how much truth there may or may not have been in them. They weren't going to let him have Drake's body. And since he wasn't going to give it up, they had no choice now but to fight and hold him off for Wendy to get ready.
They jumped forward together.
Turning her arms into clubs, Elise slammed them into the ground. Spires of iron erupted from the ground and raced for Secarus, who stopped the one that was going to hit him with his bare hand. As he did, Nashi bore down on him from above.
"Fire Dragon Talons!" She aimed her feet for Drake's head, but Secarus didn't even move. Her kick connected, and an explosion rang out, but it didn't affect him at all. The dragon used Drake's mouth to smirk at her.
"You two call yourselves Dragon Slayers with power like this?" He demanded, "My how the mighty have fallen! How am I to get my revenge if Dragon Slayers now are so weak?!" Nashi landed on her feet and regarded him carefully, looking for an opening. It was hard to tell if Drake's power was being used at all. She hoped so, otherwise she felt much weaker than she wanted too. She cast a glance over at Elise, who nodded curtly. They couldn't let him breathe.
Kicking off the ground, Nashi engulfed her body in flames and raised her fists. She attacked Secarus with a barrage of attacks, all of which he either dodged or let hit him with no effect. As he did so, Elise appeared behind him.
"Iron Dragon Twin Flails!" Her arms turned into chains, and her hands into spiked balls of iron. With a heave and a roar, Elise sent the flails flying at Secarus' back, who was still fending off Nashi.
And then, in a blur, Nashi was kicked backwards and Secarus turned, raising his hand. The first flail hit his open hand and stopped dead in it's tracks, and he pushed it into the second and sent them flying off in another direction. Growling, Elise raised her leg back and turned it into a blade, swinging it horizontally at him. Secarus blocked it as well and, with a flick of his wrist, he sent Elise spiralling in the air and then face first into the dirt.
"This is rather sad," he said with a sigh. "Are you two even trying? Or perhaps you don't wish to hurt your friend's body. Hm, I should of thought of that. No matter. You make for a good warm-up." He raised his hand then, which was turning more into a claw than a hand. "Now then, can I have my turn?"
With a single movement, Secarus ripped open Drake's wrist with his claws.
Nashi gasped as blood spurted from the wound, but it did not hit the ground. Instead, it pooled in the air in front of Secarus.
"I wouldn't worry about your friend," Secarus said, "My magic doesn't cause real damage when I use my body's blood. He will be fine. You two, on the other hand, will not be." The ball of blood shuddered, and countless spikes were formed in it. "Blood Dragon Vein Thread!"
Countless threads of blood shot out of the blood, racing towards both of the girls. Nashi jumped into the air to avoid the first barrage, but the blood raced after her. She jumped and dodged, hiding behind bones, but it was to no avail. She was pierced several times in the arms and legs, the blood threads shooting right through her. The pain was more than she had been expecting; the wounds burned and refused to stop. She turned and raised her hands together, aiming at the rest of the threads. A sphere of flame formed in her hands.
"Fire Dragon Flame Burst!" She shouted, globs of flames shot out of the sphere and hit the threads, exploding against them. She couldn't hit them all though, and she was hit several more times. The burning got worse. Still, she fired and fired until she could not see anymore of the threads. When the chaos ceased, she could hear blood dripping onto the cave floor, which was unfortunately her own. Secarus stood motionless between her and Elise, watching with a raised eyebrow.
"An interesting side effect," he noted as he rubbed his chin. "I'm interested by the effect of this boys blood. Seems it's as poisonous as his magic." Huh? What the hell was he talking about? Deciding to check, Nashi looked down at her wounds. Every hole that had been shot through her was growing black and blue, which was spreading up and down her skin at an alarming rate. She then realised what Secarus meant.
Drake usually opted out of using his magic's secondary effect of poisoning his opponent, especially in sparring with them. Secarus obviously had no such restriction. Even now, Nashi could feel the magic sapping her strength. It wouldn't be long before it was her life the magic was trying to take. Which meant Wendy needed to hurry up.
"Elise," she called, "you alright?"
"More or less," Elise replied as she cracked her knuckles.
"We're going to need to try a little harder," she said.
"You think?"
"Yeah, probably."
"Damn. Alright, I'm game when you are." A silence fell upon the three of them, Nashi and Elise circling Secarus quietly. He lazily kept his eye on them, but didn't seem very worried.
He would be.
Elise gave her a curt nod, which was the signal. Nashi made flames erupt from her feet, sending her flying at Secarus. As she did so, Elise came at him from behind, her arms in the shape of serrated swords. Secarus dodged her initial punch and tried to block Elise's blow as well, but she landed a slash on his midsection. Growling, Secarus spread the wings that had formed in Drake's back and took to the air, but that didn't matter.
"Iron Dragon Spear-Bow!" Elise's arms transformed into a massive crossbow, with iron spears loaded. She fired them at Secarus, who dodged as best he could. Nashi flew after him, using the spears that embedded in the cave roof to swing around and add some flair to her attacks. Swinging off one of the spears, she kicked Secarus in the face and then fell down below to dodge the blood that raced after her. Knowing it would follow her, she let her back face the ground and aimed her hands back up at the blood, incinerating it.
Secarus raced through the smokescreen and grappled with her, but she wouldn't let him get the upper hand. Super-heating her body, Secarus' hands began to smoke as he refused to let go. Nashi used this to her advantage and grabbed at his face, making him growl in pain as her hand made his face smoke. It hurt her heart to hurt Drake like this, but they had no choice. Secarus kicked away from her and brought his hands together, blood forming there.
"Blood Dragon Stream!" The blood spurted from his hands like a flamethrower for Nashi, who planned to respond in kind.
"Fire Dragon Roar!" The breath attack connected with the stream and caused an explosion, throwing up another smokescreen. It was her turn to use it. Nashi flew through it and raised her fist at Secarus, who was ready for her. The blood in his hand shifted, taking the form of a halberd. He swung it at her, but Nashi used her flames to twist in the air and dodge it horizontally. She stumbled but landed on her feet, just to look up at see Elise fighting him with her own arm turned into a sword and the other a shield. Secarus' halberd struck the shield, which shuddered and shot out a lance on iron in response. It pierced Secarus' shoulder, causing him to roar.
"Foolish children!" He shouted, kicking Elise in the stomach and forcing her back, "do you think your foolish attempts can kill a true dragon?!"
"We need to match our timing better!" Elise shouted, "he can't focus on both of us!"
"After you!" Nashi replied. Elise sprinted at Secarus, and Nashi was about to follow her in.
Then it happened.
"Blood Dragon Secret Art!" Secarus shouted, aiming his palm at Elise. "Meat Puppet!"
Elise froze in space, a look on surprise on her face. Secarus turned and aimed his palm at her as well, and Nashi felt her body immediately resist her minds orders. She froze mid-jump, grimacing as her body attacked her.
"W-What the-" She tried, interrupted by Secarus' laughter.
"Weren't ready for that were you, you insolent sacks of meat?" Secarus demanded, his wings flapping angrily. Nashi took this moment to notice the transformation had accelerated during the fight. Drake's eyes were now more reptilian then humans, and there was few spots of skin not covered in scales. The wings were bigger too.
"What did you do?" Elise demanded, shuddering against his control. Secarus laughed again.
"I took control of your blood," he said to her. "Your muscles will not respond to your own wishes now. I control everything. If I so wished, I could explode your puny hearts by pumping too much through it. Do you know what happens when blood rushes too fast in your bodies, humans? Your super-heat, and not in a fun way, daughter of fire. Then, your carefully regulated body begins to rupture from the overflow. Which one of you would like to test this feeling?" Nashi felt her stomach turning at the idea. Where was Wendy?
"Then why explain yourself?" She demanded, "why not just end us?" Secarus snorted.
"Do you think I care if either of you know what's happened to you?" He asked, mirth in his eyes. "Neither of you control the strength or way to loose my control on you. As for not ending you, I want to see the fear in your eyes. I want to watch Dragon Slayers suffer, just as they made our kind suffer. You two will be the first to go. You in particular, pink hair."
"No!" Elise shouted, "Not her! Do it to me!"
"Elise, don't!" Nashi said. Secarus cast a lazy eye over his shoulder, looking at Elise.
"So you care for her that deeply, hm?" He asked, "I assume the feeling is shared by pink hair. I could do it to both of you at the same time but that's no fun. I want one of you to panic as the other explodes. Hm, what to do, what to do... I know!" He turned back to Nashi. "I just start with you anyway!" Nashi gritted her teeth, determined to not show fear or pain.
She didn't manage that.
Her blood raced through her veins at an inhuman pace, causing her to gasp in surprise. In raced faster and faster, and her heart struggled to keep up. Her anxiety didn't help. No, she needed to calm down to slow him down, right? Did it even matter?!
Her skin began to heat up. She could hear Elise crying out somewhere in the background, but for the most part all she heard in her ears was blood. Her heart felt weird, her skin was on fire in the bad way. She was going to die again? Seriously? Like this?!
And then it stopped.
Before Nashi could ask what he was doing, she dropped to the ground and landed on her face. She could feel her muscles spasming, her heart still pumping way too fast. Then it slowed. Her skin cooled down, and her heart pumped like normal. She felt fine. Great, actually.
Was there a breeze in here?
Lifting her head, Nashi found there was. The wind in the graveyard had kicked up, blowing dirt and bone particles around. Elise was fine, but also looked confused. Nashi was too, seeing as how her friend was now next to her instead of where she had been.
"Did you forget there was three of us?" A familiar voice asked. Nashi looked up, a smile spreading on her face as the wind carried Wendy to the ground gently. Her hair had turned pink, and small white wings had sprouted from her back. The air around her pulsed with magic, and with every pulse she felt better and better. Wendy had infused the wind with healing magic. Getting to her feet, Nashi was prepared to help when Wendy looked back at her.
"Both of you get to the exit," she said. "I can take it from here."
"Are you sure?" Elise asked. Wendy nodded.
"I'm sure," she said. Nashi shared a look with Elise, who pressed her mouth into a thin line and nodded. Wendy would be fine.
"If we think you need us, we're coming back," Nashi said.
"With all due respect, Nashi," Wendy said with a kind smile, "I'll be fine."
Wendy kept up the healing gale as the girls retreated, before turning her gaze back to Secarus. For his part, the Blood Dragon hadn't interfered in their escape. He'd stood where he was, wings pulled in so the gale she'd whipped up wouldn't make him fly off, watching. He grinned as her attention turned to her.
"So the Sky Dragon returns to save the pups," he said, "Were you going to let them die, great one?"
"I was coming up with a way to beat you," Wendy replied. "And I have it."
"Do you now?" Secarus asked. "Let's test your hypothesis then!"
Secarus spread his wings, but Wendy was ready. The wind picked up and flung the Blood Dragon into the air, not letting him gain any momentum. Wendy flew in the blink of an eye behind him, raising her hand and enveloping it in Wind.
"Sky Dragon Tornado Impact!" She struck Secarus in the back, and it combination with the wind that moved with her will, caused him to fly across the entire graveyard. Wendy flew faster than even him, getting in front of him and raised her fist again, striking him downwards. The wind caught him and flung him back up to her, and she spun herself at superhuman speed. "Sky Dragon Talons!" Her right foot hit him in the stomach, sending him flying back the way they'd come.
Secarus was finally able to stabilise himself in the wind with his wings. As he flew backwards, he brought his hands together and a pool of blood formed there.
"Blood Dragon Vein Threads!" Countless needles of blood fired for her, but it was child's play for Wendy to avoid them. With the wind at her back, she effortlessly avoided all of the threads and then scattered them in the breeze. In a blink she was back at Secarus, raising her arms.
"Sky Dragon Wing Attack!" Torrents of air flew from her arms, forcing Secarus into the ceiling, the walls, the floor, and any object in between. Bones snapped as he flew into them, debris fell from the roof as he smashed into stalactites. Wendy picked them all up in a tornado of object and, as Secarus tried to rally himself, she flung it at him with a flick of her wrist. With an angry roar he was hit y a particularly large stalactite and was sent into the ground. As Wendy joined him he got to his feet and raised his hand, aiming it at her. She advanced on him slowly.
"Blood Dragon Secret Art: Meat Puppet!"
Nothing happened. Secarus' eyes widened as Wendy continued to walk towards him.
"What the hell?!" He hissed, "Why won't this work on you?!"
"I'm an enchanter at heart," Wendy replied, "How do you think I freed the girls? I cast an enchant to remove enemy spells from them, and on myself. Your 'Meat Puppet' won't work on me." Secarus grit his teeth, but smiled.
"I'm glad one of you can offer a challenge!" He said, "otherwise this wouldn't be any fun at all!" He slammed his open palm over his heart. "Blood Dragon Secret Art: Pressure Release!" Secarus pulsed with strength. The skin of Drake's body began to steam. The veins in the wings on his back glowed red as blood rushed through them.
"What are you doing?" She demanded. Secarus laughed.
"I've increased the boys blood circulation," he replied. "By pumping his blood faster, I'm creating more energy." Wendy scowled.
"Do you have any idea how dangerous that is?!" She demanded, "the human body isn't meant to have it's blood flow sped up!" Secarus snorted.
"Do you think I care?!" He demanded, "I've died once already! If I can't defeat you here, the least I can do is kill this host! So what will you do, bastard of Grandeeney?! Kill me and the boy?! That's the only way you're getting me out of his body!" Wendy's scowl deepened, and she leaned to crack her neck.
"I suppose I won't get the chance to weaken you any further," she said. "Time to end this."
"Huh?" Wendy took a deep breath, focusing on her arms. She had a lot of practice casting healing magic in a more offensive way, but this was the first time she'd ever tried with Milky Way. Focusing, she raised a hand and ripped off one sleeve of her shirt, and then the other.
She'd drawn the magic circle for Milky Way on her arms in dirt.
"I'm going to give you one last chance," Wendy said. "Leave Drake's body now, or get forcibly removed and die forever. What will it be?" Secarus looked a little worried, but he snarled.
"Do you think I'll cave to your pathetic threats?!" He hissed, "Come, you will be the first to fall!" He flapped his wings at her, and Wendy allowed the wind to pick her up and carry her towards the cavern roof. The runes on her arms glowed with power. Secarus launched at her with another flap of his wings, flying at her much faster than he had before. His Pressure Release really worked. Wendy dodged an incoming stab from a blood weapon with an elegant back-flip, and then blocked Secarus' kick with her shin. She glowered down at him, growing even angrier seeing the evil dragon use Drake's body as his own.
The fact that Wendy had no children of her own was a sore spot for her. She'd watched as the others had their own, and had secretly hoped to find someone to have a family with. Sadly, it hadn't really worked out that way. Being the medic for Fairy Tail, on top of one of it's most powerful wizards, proved to be a full time job. She had no idea how Lucy or Erza had managed it. She simply didn't have the time to have a child. And, in turn, she'd grown attached to the children of her friends. She'd always been there when they were kids to heal a scrap or broken bone, and all of them had always seen her as a fun aunt or friend. She adored that. Without kids of her own, that was the next best thing she could hope for. And she loved them all like her own.
And now an evil spirit was going to take Drake away from them.
Losing Nashi the year before had been hard enough on her and everyone else. But this was something only Wendy could solve. Without her, Secarus got Drake's body as his own. She couldn't allow that. She wouldn't.
With these thoughts swirling in her mind, Wendy dodged a stream of blood shot at her and grabbed Secarus by Drake's jacket, glaring straight into his eyes.
"Fine then," she hissed, "I'll make you give him back then!" Secarus flapped his wings to try and escape, but Wendy was faster. Raising her free hand, she delivered at least three dozen blows to Secarus in a second or two, stunning him. That gave her the time she needed.
"Sky Dragon Tornado Prison!" She shouted. The wind responded to her will. The gale grabbed at Secarus' arms and legs, locking him in place. He tried to free himself, but another tornado wrapped around his entire body save for his head, locking him in the air. Backing up, Wendy's arms began to glow.
"Damn you, girl!" Secarus shouted angrily. Wendy glowered at him.
"You wanted to know if any of us were capable of slaying a dragon?" She asked, "let's find out, you and I." As her arms glowed brighter, Secarus began to get pulled towards her. She knew why. Milky Way was pulling him in.
"Damn you!" Secarus roared, "if I was in my own body instead of this kid's, I'd have killed you all! He's fighting me every step of the way! Blast that attack off and I'll kill him right now!"
"Try it," Wendy replied. She'd accounted for Secarus trying to kill Drake last second. There was a lot of healing magic being prepped into her attack. He'd be fine. Secarus looked livid.
"Blood Dragon Roar!" A massive torrent of blood escaped his mouth and flew straight at her, but Wendy didn't bother dodging. It was a last desperate attempt from a desperate dragon.
"Sky Dragon Secret Art: Milky Way Impact!" Rearing her fist back and throwing a punch, a blast of green magic erupted from her knuckles and connected with the breath attack Secarus had used. It flew straight through the center and hit Secarus in the stomach. He gasped, Drake's body spasming.
Then the blood consumed her, and she lost sight of him.
Nashi and Elise had waited long enough. Thee explosions made the antsy, and so they flew back to the site as fast as they could. Using their senses of smell, the girls soon located Wendy and Drake. When they did, they saw Wendy carrying Drake in her arms. Nashi's stomach turned as they landed near her.
"Wendy!" She called, "what the hell happened?"
Wendy was drenched in blood. She laughed and wiped some of it from her face.
"He'll be fine," she said as Elise rushed to take Drake from her arms.
"What did you do?" Elise asked. Wendy wiped blood off her arms and sighed.
"I reversed Milky Way's magic," she said. "Instead of drawing a spirit to me, it expels them. One good hit on Drake and Secarus was sent back to hell." Relief washed over Nashi as she watched Drake's exhausted face.
"You're incredible, Wendy," Elise said with a smile. Wendy might have blushed, but it was hard to tell seeing as she was coated in bloof. Nashi kept exmining Drake's face, but then she released something.
"The scales haven't faded," she said. "And he still has wings." She had missed the wings before, as Wendy had tucked them into his jacket. But the bulge at his shoulder blades was evidence enough. Wendy frowned.
"That I couldn't reverse," she said. "Secarus sped up Drake's transformation in an attempt to get a dragon body. He's got even less time now." Great. Even though they'd managed to save him, now Drake was in even worse condition. This hadn't helped at all.
"Now what?" Elise asked, a hopeless look on her face. Wendy put her hands on her hips and sighed again.
"We take him home," she said, "and explain that he's probably going to become a dragon no matter what."
Before anyone asks, YES Secarus' Pressure Release spell was based on Luffy's gear 2nd from One Piece. I thought it would be a cool reference, what with blood and all.
Unrelated, but why have these last two chapter been so long? Weird. Has my minimum length gone up?! I doubt it. I just didn't want to push this into two chapters when I could solve it one with some Wendy action. She hasn't gotten to do anything since this story started, so I figured it was time for her to lay the smack down! I also attempted to provide a lackluster reason as to why she didn't have kids. Except it or don't, I'll readily admit her not having a kid was a last minute decision from me.
I hope you all enjoyed, leave a review! Let's try and get five!
