Chapter 309: A Big Day For James

"Ugh, I am so done being pregnant."

James chuckled, gently stroking his wife's hair as they lay in bed.

"Don't worry dear, the baby will be here soon.."

"Not soon enough, it won't."

"I thought you wanted to be a mother?"

"I still do, but the morning sickness and the cravings are killing me."

James nodded in understanding, before checking the clock.

"I've got to get to work. Will you be alright?"

Molly rolled her eyes.

"I may be pregnant, but I can still take care of myself."

"But what if-"

"There's always someone not working, they can give me a ride to the hospital if it does."

James nodded, and kissed her forehead.

"Alright. I love you."

"I love you, too."

Later that day, James was coming back to Knapford with a goods train when he found Sir Topham Hatt waiting for him.

"Leave those trucks there, James. Percy will shunt them away."

"Of course, sir. Do you have another job for me?"

Sir Topham Hatt shook his head.

"No James, this is something much more important. Molly's water broke."

James's eyes went wide.

"Is she alright?"

"Emily gave her a ride to the hospital. Now get going!"

James turned towards the parking lot, but Sir Topham Hatt stopped him to thrust a pair of keys into his hand.

"There'd better not be a single scratch on my car."

James nodded, and sprinted out of the station.

When he arrived at the hospital, he found Emily waiting for him.

"Took you long enough," she said as she led him to the maternity ward. Once they reached Molly's suite, James immediately rushed to her side, allowing her to grab his hand.

"James, is that you?"

"I'm here, sweetheart."

"James, I swear to god I will- OH GOD!"

"You're doing great, Molly! Just one more push!"

Molly cried in pain, before…"

"Congratulations, it's a girl!"

Molly breathed a sigh of relief, but it didn't last long before another contraction hit her.

"There's another one! You're having twins!"

"Twins? Do you hear that, Molly?"

"All I hear is that we're not done!"

After another 10 minutes, Molly delivered a healthy baby boy. Despite the agony she had been in, Molly couldn't be happier as she held her twin children.

"They're beautiful."

James smiled, giving his family a small hug.

"Just like their mother."

Just then, a nurse came in with the birth certificates.

"So, what are you going to call these cuties?"

Molly smiled. James and her had the perfect names in mind.

"For the boy, we were thinking of Jessie. And for the girl, we were thinking of Mary."

"Excellent choices!"

The next morning, Molly was clear to go home. Currently, James, Molly, Thomas, and Emily were watching their children play. They were building a block tower on the living room floor.

"Aw, they're so cute!" Emily cooed.

"Thanks, Emily," Molly replied. The four of them watched as Mary and Thomas Jr. placed the final block on the tower together, because Thomas Jr. placed a small kiss on her cheek, making the parents laugh.

"Looks like we've got a real ladies' man on our hands," Thomas laughed.

"No way! Mary has him wrapped around her finger," James jabbed back.

"Your daughter better not break my son's heart," Emily warned Molly. Molly scoffed.

"I'd be more worried about him."

And the four parents had a good long laugh.

A/N: Hope you guys enjoyed it! Sorry it's a little short, but I needed a quick chapter I could get out of the way before I start on my next big project. I warned you all last week that it would be a controversial one, and that was an understatement. Brace yourself, for when we next meet we'll begin Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure.
