The SSS arrived in front of the hospital when the sun had set.
"Look there," Elie pointed towards the hospital area.
"The lamps are lit up, but the actual building is pitch black. That can't be good," Randy said what was on everyone's mind.
"Also, it is too early for the gate to be closed. And where is the guard...?" Tio questioned when she saw nobody guarding the closed gate.
"Everything about this is shady. Anyway, we need to che- Look out!"
"It's Revache's war hounds!"
Lloyd and Elie quickly pull out their weapon, followed by Randy and Tio.
"Did they conceal their presence or somethin'?!"
"On our six, too!"
"What!?" Lloyd was taken aback by what Tio informed. Two Revache goons came from inside the hospital yard. "Revache?!"
"Have they been here the whole time?!" Elie gritted her teeth at misreading the situation.
"What the hell do you guys think you're doing?" Randy shouted towards the Revache members in front of them, but they didn't answer.
"Hmm... something feels wrong with them," Lloyd voiced his observation. Their silence was unlike the usual from Revache.
"Everyone, be on guard!"
The three dogs and the mafia ran towards them.
The four of them quickly handled the two mafiosos and the Doven Kaisers.
"They're stronger than before," Elie remarked.
Lloyd nodded. There could only be one answer to that. "It's the drugs. The attack dogs, too."
Randy nodded, still breathing hard. "Sure, but what the hell was up with them? They didn't say a single word before goin' ballistic on us."
"...I could hardly sense any emotion coming from them. This reminds me of-" Tio's words were cut off when one of the downed Revache members stirred up.
"...uggghhHHHH..."
Lloyd gasped. "They're back up?!"
"They should've been knocked out cold!" Randy raised his axe in preparation.
"This is the power of Gnosis!" Tio said with a grimace as the two Revache members stood up.
"Wh-What do we do...?" Elie asked the others.
Before the two goons attacked, several needles were thrown and hit their bodies.
"Irksome pests."
The two crumpled down, falling unconscious.
The creepy voice was familiar. Lloyd looked around, trying to locate the hooded assassin that they had met.
"Yin! Did you kill them!?"
"No. I simply used a form of acupuncture to cut off the flow of their chi. No matter how much strength they possess, they will be asleep for quite a while," the assassin replied.
"Thank goodness..." Lloyd sighed in relief.
"You sure have a knack for showin' up outta the damn blue. Did you come to investigate Revache, too?" Randy asked the masked figure.
"I'm here at Cao's behest," Yin revealed. "But it seems that this simple request will be more vexing than I thought. I always believed this Gnosis was nothing more than a rumor."
"Where did you hear that name?" Tio questioned. The police hadn't written any report about it yet. Unless it was something that Heiyue found out through their own contact.
"Just how much does Heiyue know?"
"About as much as you all," the assassin answered Elie's question. "Revache's disappearance, the existence of the D∴G cult and its remnants... Neither Cao nor I know anything beyond those two pieces of information."
So the suspicious action of Joachim was still unknown even to Heiyue, Lloyd noted.
"Lloyd?" Elie asked in concern.
"Hold up, Mademois-Elie," Randy stopped Elie with a hand. "Let him cook."
"Listen, Yin. Regardless of your intentions, St. Ursula is in a state of emergency. And odds are that the mafia is currently occupying the entire hospital. It's our job to verify whether the hospital staff is safe and act from there. Now that you know that...will you work with us, Yin?"
...
"What?!" Elie shouted in surprise.
"Heh. What are you babbling about, Bannings? Are you actually requesting assistance from someone you've tried to arrest? Someone you've labeled a criminal?" Yin taunted Lloyd. But he was ready for it.
"Like I said. State of emergency. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you planned to uncover the truth behind all this, with or without us. If that's the case, don't you think there's merit in rescuing the people in there and hearing what eyewitnesses have to say?" Lloyd smiled at the assassin.
"Heh. So you wish to work as equals until the end of this matter, is that it?" Yin stared at Lloyd for a moment, trying to gauge his sincerity. It seemed like the assassin liked what he was seeing. "Very well. However, if you start to become a burden, I will act of my own accord. Is that clear?"
"That won't be a problem," Lloyd replied with confidence.
"Geez. I don't know whether to call you impulsive or what..." Elie sighed.
"Lloyd CAN be a bit too audacious in the heat of the moment," Tio chimed in.
"Hey, now's not the time for talk. Cecile, Juna, and Shizuku are waiting for us," Randy reminded the others.
"Right. Our top priority is locating the hospital staff and patients and confirming their safety. And while we're at it, we can ask them about the overall situation," Lloyd defined their objective.
"Understood!"
"Roger that."
"Heh. Shall we go?"
The five of them entered the hospital area.
Cecile, Juna, and Shizuku... please be safe...
The hospital door was locked, so they went to the dormitories in order to look for clues and fought more Revache goons and the Doven Kaisers. Yin was honestly a big help for using his Eastern technique to keep the downed member unconscious. Their effort bore fruit when they met Martha, the Nurse Head of the hospital, who informed them about the key being taken from her by the goons. They ascended to the second floor and quickly defeated them. Key in hand, Lloyd quickly went to the front door of the hospital.
(He didn't even consider the rooftop bridge.)
"Lloyd, wait a second!" Elie called, out of breath from chasing him.
"Yeah, I even have to carry Tio-tot with me," Randy followed behind her.
The red-faced Tio only sighed. "Please give me a warning next time, Randy."
From the shadow, Yin appeared. "Hmph. Your comrades need more training."
"We don't have time for this. Let's open the door!"
The other four people nodded, each brandishing their weapon.
Lloyd entered the key into the door and opened it.
Dark.
The lobby of the hospital was dark. However, the light from the outside seeped in through the windows. From there, Lloyd could make out the chaotic sudden attack from Revache. The chairs were flipped, and the boards had dents on them.
"There's no staff or patients anywhere in sight," Lloyd confirmed to the others.
"Not a trace of the mafia, either," Elie followed up.
"That's not true. I can sense them moving about... The hospital staff are likely taking shelter throughout the entire building," Yin revealed, shaking his head. "Hmm, what is this? I sensed some unconscious bodies."
"Agreed. I am detecting the presence of multiple people in here," Tio confirmed. "Sadly, I can't detect the unconscious people like Yin did."
Unconscious people meant the patients, or worse, Juna subduing the mafia. Not that it wasn't a good thing, but Lloyd didn't want Juna to get hurt.
"Juna..." Elie trailed off. "I'm worried about Shizuku and Cecile, too."
"Hm? What's that?" Yin pointed at the receptionist's table. His sharp eyes picked something under the darkness of the room. It was a paper placed under some weight to keep it from flying away from the wind.
"Paper?"
"There's a big, attention-grabbing word written there. 'For Lloyd.' That's you this paper refers to?" Yin grabbed the paper and read it. "Hmmm. Interesting."
He offered the paper to Lloyd, whose eyes took a little longer to adjust to the darkness.
304: Cecile, Shizuku.
302: Philia, Lytton, Dyson (wounded), random guy I didn't remember the name (running off to the linen room), Michael
202: Belldine, Ada, three patients
201: Lan, Gwen (she panicked, I calmed her down, but maybe you can help better), three patients.
1st floor northside lab: Sera, Chaleur, Chief Clark, Flora
ICU: several dead patients (life-support dead from the orbal power shutdown)
"This is...!" Elie exclaimed.
"The list of the people bunkered on each room. It must be Juna's works," Lloyd nodded.
"Heh. As expected of Juna," Randy smirked.
"But does that mean Juna faced the mafia and the hounds? I'm not sure she'd be unscathed," Tio pointed out. That brought everyone back.
"For now, we're going to each room and reassure everyone. After that, we'll go look for Juna," Lloyd decided their course of action.
"And subdue all the mafia, of course," Randy said.
"Alright!"
They went to the medical office area. Looking around in alert, they found no mafia there, so they quickly turned north to the lab.
"Crossbell Police Department," Lloyd said, knocking on the door.
The door was swiftly opened, and Lloyd saw the relieved face of Sera, the receptionist of the hospital.
"Lloyd?!"
"Sera. Is everyone from Juna's list still here?"
The receptionist nodded. "Yes. You're going to check on all of us?"
"Yes," Elie answered. "Do you know where Juna is?"
"I don't know. Maybe Juna went to the roof. Because I remember telling her that the mafia came from upstairs," Sera revealed.
The SSS plus Yin looked at each other.
"Right. Thank you for the information. We've called the CGF to apprehend everyone here. Please wait until then. There haven't been any Revache members on the first floor as far as we could see, but maybe they're still upstairs, so it's better if you wait here still."
After giving his command, Lloyd and the others quickly left the room and went back to the lobby to head to the second floor.
"I'm worried for Juna," Elie said, clear distress in her voice as they ran towards the stairs.
Lloyd didn't reply. But it was clear to anyone who saw him how worried he was.
"For now, let's just check on every room from Juna's list."
Tio's words got them to refocus themselves.
Once they arrived on the second floor, they still found no sign of the mafia. Doubt started to seep into Lloyd's mind. Did Juna take them all out? Nevertheless, they knocked on the door to Room 201
"Crossbell Police Department."
When the door opened, everyone saw Lan from behind the door. "Randy! Cecile's brother! I'm glad!"
"Me too, Lan. It's good to see you safe and sound," Randy grinned.
"Is everyone okay? I saw Juna mentioned about Gwen panicking?" Elie asked Lan.
"She's been okay, I think," Lan pointed to Gwen, who took one of the empty beds for herself. "I coaxed her to sleep. Thank Aidios, Juna was able to calm her down."
"I see... Please wait here again. We're gonna look for the mafia and check the others too."
"Right! Be careful out there, Randy, Lloyd."
"Thanks, Lan. When the situation's all right, what about grabbing some drinks with me?" Randy winked at the nurse.
"Randy!" Elie chastised her colleague.
"Can't keep yourself down even in this kind of situation, huh?" Tio sighed.
"Anyway, we'll go. You too, be careful, Lan," Lloyd nodded before gesturing for everyone to leave the room.
They continued their way to the corridor, running past the nurse's station before Lloyd stopped.
In front of them, four Revache goons were laid down on the ground, unconscious. Weapons were strewn around them.
"Whew," Randy whistled. "Did Junie take them all out? Nice one."
Yin approached them and put his hand around their nose. "Still breathing. They're unconscious."
Considering how strong they were under the influence of Gnosis, it didn't paint a good picture for Juna to face all of them. How wounded was she?
"Yin, can you make sure they stay unconscious?" Lloyd asked the assassin for help.
"Sure." As Yin threw his needles into the four unconscious bodies, he hummed.
"What's wrong?" Elie asked the assassin with some hesitation.
"Their flow of chi had been messed up from the start. I can guess that's how they went unconscious in the first place," Yin observed before turning to Lloyd. "This Juna of yours, did she know Eastern technique too?"
Lloyd shook his head. "I don't know, but she's learning Eight Leaves under Arios MacLaine. Do they have your chi-disrupting technique, too?"
"Make sense," Yin nodded to himself. "I seldom encountered their practitioner, but they're infamous in the East. The style's founder combined eight styles of Eastern swordsmanship and supplementary martial arts. They might have one or two techniques that disrupt the flow of chi in your opponent's body."
"I see... Thank you for the explanation, Yin. Let's go, everyone!"
Lloyd and the others checked the people in Room 203 and later Room 302. There were some mishaps with Representative Gable; the man Juna didn't know who ran away to the linen room. But in the end, they managed to coax him to bunker with the others in 302. After that, they knocked on the door to Room 304.
"Cecile, Shizuku. It's the SSS."
The door was opened, and Lloyd was instantly greeted by a tight embrace from the older nurse.
"Lloyd!"
"Whew. The babyfaced lady killer charm works as usual," Randy whistled.
"Randy!" Elie elbowed the red-haired man before she sighed at his nature.
"I'm glad you're okay, Cecile."
"For now, how about we enter the room first?" Tio suggested, to which everyone agreed.
Inside the room, Lloyd and the others explained what they had done, what Juna had done, and their mission to find Juna. Cecile's expression of worry never left her face.
"So, Cecile, did Juna say anything else except for our arrival?" For some reason, Juna had a lot of faith that the SSS would arrive and help. It warmed his heart that Juna believed them that much, but he wanted to know if Juna told them anything else.
"None," Cecile shook her head with a frown. "Lloyd..."
"I know. You're worried about Juna," Lloyd answered the unasked question. Giving his sort of older sister a reassuring smile, Lloyd continued, "We'll definitely find her."
Cecile stared at him for a long minute before she let out a fond sigh. "You truly are Guy's brother. That way of reassuring people is just so him."
"Ah..."
"No, don't be sorry," Cecile smiled. "I've made peace with his death a long time ago."
Lloyd frowned. While he could agree, there was one thing still that prevented him from entirely making peace with Guy's death: the mystery behind it. Still, he wasn't obsessed because Guy definitely didn't want him to waste his life. And besides, Juna told him that it would be uncovered, so he would take her word for it.
Lloyd and Cecile continued talking, In the meantime, Elie and Tio were with Shizuku.
"How are you feeling, Shizuku?"
"I'm okay," the younger girl replied Elie. "It's a little scary to hear the chaos at first, but it subsided later, so it is no different from usual. And besides, Juna told us that you would definitely come, so we calmed down."
Tio nodded to herself. "Juna really believed in us, didn't she?"
"Thankfully, we didn't disappoint her. Although..." Elie frowned.
"We're still missing her," Tio finished. They went silent for a few minutes in contemplation before Randy approached them.
"Yo, sorry, Shizuku. Lloyd called Mademois-Elie and Tio-tot."
Tio and Elie looked at each other in confusion. They had just talked to Shizuku for a short while. What did Lloyd need them for?
"Lloyd?" Elie asked their leader.
Lloyd just closed his eyes.
Cecile had just told him something that he thought required everyone's attention.
"Do you remember what Arios told us this afternoon? Shizuku was held up for another health assessment," Lloyd started before turning to Cecile. "Cecile, can you please repeat what you and Juna found out?"
"R-Right. Shizuku was declared healthy three days ago and was told she could leave today by Dr. Mark. However, Juna told me that last night, Arios got a phone call from Dr. Mark saying that Shizuku needed a last-minute assessment." Cecile paused to take a breath. "Now, that isn't strange on its own. There were plenty of cases where we had to take last-minute assessments of the patient's health. But... Dr. Mark has been taking paid leave since two days ago.
The SSS looked at each other while Yin silently leaned on the wall.
"Arios did not say the doctor's name, didn't he?" Tio tried to remember and found no mention of the doctor's name from Arios when they talked this afternoon. Unfortunately, that meant they couldn't confirm Juna's testimony about the call from Arios.
"Yes. We can assume that Juna knew because Arios told her," Elie confirmed. "Still, Lloyd, is this the thing you want us to know?"
Lloyd shook his head. "Please continue, Cecile."
Nodding her head, Cecile continued her story. "Seeing the discrepancies in the situation, Juna and I went to Sera to ask for the schedule. I mean, it can just be a miss in the scheduling, but I did note that it is weird for Dr. Mark to call Arios when he's on leave. Juna seemed to think so, too. In the end, Dr. Mark has been on leave since two days ago, and his work is substituted by Dr. Guenter."
Elie widened her eyes while Tio exhaled.
"And then, what is Juna's reaction?"
Lloyd asked Cecile.
"Huh? Juna's reaction?" Cecile questioned before she answered. "She was angry because it was Joachim. Just the usual Juna."
This was bad.
Juna didn't realize that Joachim was suspicious. Lloyd quickly changed the subject before Cecile could pick up. "I see. Thank you for the information, Cecile. We have to go now."
"Right. Stay safe, Lloyd, everyone."
"Of course. Everyone, let's go!"
"Yes!"
A/N: Ahem. First of all... IF WE CAN HAVE BRUH MOMENT FOR RANDY I WANT MY OWN MEMETIC RANDY TOO! Alright, now that's out of the gate. This is mostly a reiteration of the canon events in the hospital... except for Juna's involvement. We then entered the hospital and no mob! Thank you, Juna. I'm sure the casual players will hate you while the hardcore one will love you for it. There's an achievement if you finish the game under level 40, and the hospital's mandatory mob battle gives too much exp. I myself didn't get that achievement because I'm filthy casual.
