When Spring Came
Chapter 9: Quid Pro Quo
AN: Hi lol I'm bringing another update, I'm on a writing spree ;3 Hope y'all enjoy, I had a bit of trouble near the end but I promise it's not a cop out...there will be more...to that...
In the darkness of her room, a teenage girl giggled incessantly. She laid on her stomach as she kicked her feet in the air. There was something sinister about her laughter, especially in such a dark environment. The sun was trying to peek through her curtains, and it was high time she left the inside of her room.
Bulla looked down at her phone with a satisfactory grin on her lips. The headlines were making moves, announcing her brother's and soon-to-be sister-in-law's location quickly. All thanks to a devious trickster and her insistent meddling. About thirty minutes ago, Bulla left an anonymous tip to DMZ that Trunks Briefs was indeed with the blonde woman who was the cause of the commotion last night.
Did she like disturbing the peace? Absolutely. She also needed some more tangible evidence to win that bet with Pan. The blue-haired teen sat back on her bed, looking at the video of her brother and Marron trying to hide from the camera. "Check and mate," she giggled as she grabbed a handful of pop corn and shoved it in her mouth.
How did Bulla know her brother didn't come home? That was quite easy. Saiyan hearing was nothing to laugh at. The girl didn't have ears as big as Piccolo, but she could definitely sense when someone entered or exited the building. She was efficiently nosy.
She had decided it was finally time to declare her victory on this little arrangement. To be honest, Pan never had a chance. "Panny Pan Pan," Bulla said in a sing-song voice, her voice brimming with childlike glee. "It seems like the charade is over."
"Ah-Ah," Pan responded, causing Bulla to fall flat on her face. "Do you not remember, Bulla?"
The teen stared down at her phone, her face contorting in disgust. "What on Earth do you mean? We agreed that once they were dating, the bet was over," Bulla chewed on her nail. Did she forget a detail? That simply wasn't possible.
"Oh Bulla," Pan replied, "I said dating AND kissing..."
Bulla stared at her phone in disbelief. "Are you kidding me, Pan?" She asked, annoyed at the fact that there are so many roadblocks.
"Until I see that with my own two eyes...it's on," Pan said coolly, "and actually, I may or may not have some info over you...okay byeeee..."
Bulla sat in her room, slack-jaw. Info over Bulla Briefs...that is impossible. She'll have to sniff it out herself before she lets Pan of all people have one up over her. Right at that moment, Bulma peeked into the room, a knowing glance at the young teen.
"Do teens now-a-days enjoy lurking in the dark?" She asked as she had a hip resting against the doorway, "It's 11 AM, do you want to open a window or something?"
Bulla grumbled as she sat up in her bed, watching her mother swing open the curtains. There was an ungodly amount of light shining into the room. She squinted as she stared at her mother, attempting to adjust to the glare of the late morning sun. "Much better," Bulma said, a smile of satisfaction on her face.
The blue-haired teen watched as Bulma sat at the edge of her bed and glanced directly at her. "I know what you did, young lady," Bulma stated as she watched her daughter's breath hitch in shock.
"How did you-?" Bulla began, shocked as her brain tried to circle back to what could have possibly caused her mother to know that she leaked the info to DMZ. There was nothing she would have said that gave away that she was Bulla Briefs. "I plead the fifth."
Bulma shook her head, she knew Bulla and she had a tell. It was in her expression when she lied, just like her father, their left brows twitched ever so slightly, giving themselves away. "Alright kid, here is what you are going to do..." Bulma began as she pulled out her phone, "you will tell Trunks and Marron you are sorry, and you will have to help me calm your father down before he rips your brother's head off."
"Are you kidding me, is he actually worked up about it?" Bulla huffed out, "It was almost thirty years ago...character development not in his vocab?" She rolled her eyes as she grabbed the phone from her mother's hand.
Bulma pursed her lips as she watched the hybrid type in something in her phone. If only Bulla knew how far her father had come, she would definitely not be saying anything of the sort then. But, for the lack of better words, Bulma stayed silent. "What are you doing-" She began before Bulla answered a call on her phone.
"Oh Trunksie, perfect," Bulla answered, "Hey beloved big brother, I have a little confession-"
"You leaked my location, seriously?" Trunks' voice was not happy, from the sound of it it sounded like he was high in the sky or flying. "Hold still Marron!" He barked as there was shuffling on the phone. "Look, Bulla," Trunks responded exasperated, "I'm now going to have to clean up more than just your mess."
Bulma glanced at her daughter, a knowing glance at her as she folded her arms. Bulla had some impulsivity she needed to work on, despite being a brilliant girl - she suffered the same problem as Vegeta when it came to decision-making. "I'm...sorry...Trunks," it was painful to pull that apology out of her.
"Don't give me that," Trunks grumbled. "If you're sorry, go deal with dad for me, will ya?"
"Where are you going sweetie?" Bulma asked, peeking her head over to the screen, "I just hear a lot of wind, I don't suggest coming here first."
"Oh, hey mom," Trunks chimed, "Kame House, Marron and I figured it's safer to tell her family before Dad..."
Bulma nodded in silence. A smart move by the two of them. "Good idea, I'm sure Marron can disarm 18," the woman chuckled as she looked down over to Bulla. "I think it would be smart if you came over today so we can talk to your dad together. The longer you leave it, the angrier he'll become."
"Noted," Trunks responded. "One step at a time, yeah?"
"Yeah," Bulma said slowly as she looked over to the door in Bulla's room. Almost as if she were expecting someone or something. "Talk to you later, hon."
Marron fussed under Trunks' grip, her eyes screwed tightly shut as the two soared past the ocean. Not only was her innate fear of heights intensified because Trunks was flying over the ocean, but that Marron herself had taken a peek downward. She knew she had little choice in the matter. As the two were placed in a difficult situation, due to Bulla's antics, Marron was left to suck it up and cling onto Trunks for dear life.
"You're shaking like a leaf, Marron," Trunks said as he slowed down, readjusting his grip on her. He watched the terrified blonde open her eyes as she tried to look down, to which Trunks quickly jerked her to make her look back up to him. "Do you just… enjoy being scared?"
Marron huffed, shaking her head violently as she buried her face into his neck. "No, I just don't like not being able to see the ground," she began as she pressed into him. "Please, Trunks… just don't drop me," Marron begged as she whimpered, somewhat pathetically.
Trunks blew out some air from his nose, stifling a chuckle at the ridiculousness from Marron's request. "You realize that wouldn't really bode well for me, right?" Trunks continued, whilst flying slower now that they were far from the city. "The President of Capsule Corporation drops a girl from thousands of feet in the air," Trunks said, mocking the tone of a newscaster, "Don't worry, I got you."
There was a small tug on the corner of Marron's lips. She wanted to smile at him, but the anxiety was killing her. She kept her face pressed against him, making the sound of her voice sound muffled. "Yeah, I think my mom and dad would give you an earful, if that's the case."
"Do you want to fly lower?" Trunks asked, looking down at the blonde. "If that makes you feel more comfortable —"
"Closer to the ocean?" Marron squeaked out. She could feel her stomach drop at the mere thought of going lower. It was already too much for her to be flying in the first place. "We aren't too far from Kame House, are we?"
"No, not really," Trunks said as he squinted, being able to spot the pink house in the distance, "I can get us there faster if you want me to pick up the speed… you don't have to prolong the suffering, y'know."
Marron bit the bottom of her lip, refusing to open her eyes as she slowly nodded. "Okay, you have my permission…" she mumbled, "just please don't drop me."
"I promise I won't," Trunks tried to hold back a chuckle, as he kicked up the speed, zooming into the small island in the middle of the sea. The closer he got, the lower he went. Unbeknownst to Marron, who only realized by the smell of the ocean grazing past her.
She opened her eyes to find the cerulean blue waves right below her, Trunks' ki blazing a path right between the ocean. There was one thing Marron wouldn't admit about flying… the views she got were awe-inspiring. The sun was bright in the crystal blue sky, and the sugar white sand of the island she grew up on was coming into view.
Though she lived in Kame House as a young child, she spent many formative years here before moving to West City. The serene sight of the small pink house sent chills across her. Trunks watched as her expression changed to a softer, more gleeful one. He could see it from his point of view; the sight of her childhood home totally enthralled her.
"How long since you were here?" Trunks asked, curiosity laced in his voice. He wouldn't have expected such a reaction from her, especially if her family lived here.
Marron looked up at him, her lit up expression not leaving. "Ah, well, it's hard for me to get here without flying or hopping on a boat," she responded. "My parents come to West City to visit more often than not."
Made sense. Marron was not uber wealthy. It's not like she had all the capsule corp vehicles at her disposal. Nor was she the most skilled at flight…it wasn't too farfetched to think she hadn't been here in some time. "Well, now that you are dating me, you can borrow one of the CC vehicles to get over here…" Trunks wasn't sure why he offered, but it's the least he could do.
"Really?" Marron responded, her smile widening. "That's uncharacteristically sweet of you…"
"Marron, I told you I'm going to have to spoil you in some way to keep up with appearances; take what you need…that's our arrangement," Trunks stated as he came to a slow pace, landing right on the edge of Kame Island.
The two stood at the pink house, and immediately, there was apprehension. Any sort of gleeful mood was quickly soured by the idea of having to confront the first of the two beasts. Marron looked up at Trunks, giving a silent nod as she approached the door, a soft knock as she was met face first with her father, who's face lit up at the sight of his daughter
"Marron?!" He exclaimed excitedly, throwing his arms in a tight squeeze. "Hon, how'd you get all the way over here?" He said before spotting Trunks out the corner of his eye.
"Um, yeah, that's actually why I'm here…" Marron chuckled as Krillin released her, "Trunks was uh… nice enough to fly me out here so we could all chat!" She was tip-toeing. Trunks could sense it in her nervous expression.
"Oh, you don't say," Krillin said, his eyes shifting between his daughter and Trunks all as he stuffed his hands into his pockets, walking over to the steps. "Well, what are you lolly-gagging over there for, Trunks," Krillin responded as he waved him in.
Trunks looked up, wide-eyed as he nodded quietly as he walked up the steps, following Marron and Krillin inside. Marron looked back at Trunks, slight panic in her eyes as she tried to break the silence. "Hey, where's Grandpa Roshi?"
"He's out fishin' with Oolong!" Krillin said as he walked towards the staircase, standing on the final step. Marron was already anticipating what was going to happen next, and she nudged Trunks who was still awkwardly silent. Trunks flinched rubbing his arm, unsure as to why she would do that until it was too late…
It was a warning. "Hey 18, Marron is here!" Krillin exclaimed.
"What?" the woman's voice boomed through the door as she stepped out of the room, coming downstairs. "How did she get here?" 18 said as she reached the final step, looking up and finding Marron and Trunks standing beside each other close to the exit.
"Oh?" 18 inquired, her arms instinctively folding. "Interesting," she said as she plopped down on the armchair.
"H-Hey…18…" Trunks' eyes flicked down to the side. Marron cast a glance over to Trunks…he was a shy imitation of the cocky bastard he was not too long ago. What did her mom do to him?
Trunks was always a muted version of himself around her mom, and it stemmed to the goodbye party where Trunks mistakenly burned off a chunk of her hair. It did not go unnoticed by the android. Her daughter's anger lead to quite the heated exchange of words between Trunks and 18, as two grown adults will typically go about it.
"Don't think I forgot our conversation, Trunks," 18 stated as she motioned the two to sit down. This comment made Marron perk her head up and look at her mother and Trunks before quickly dismissing the thought.
"What brings you guys over here?" The woman began, before looking over at her daughter. Something strange was a foot…and she intended to get to the bottom of it. "Marron, I know it's difficult for you to ask for help, especially not from him, of all people…"
Trunks ignored that. It would be wise for him to remain quiet to avoid any unnecessary conflict with his… in-law? What labels were parents of your fake partner? "Well, mom, since we are skipping the pleasantries…I'll come clean," Marron breathed in deeply. Trunks internally rolled his eyes, Marron truly knew how to amp up the dramatics.
"Now, dad," Marron began looking over to her father, as she motioned over to the couch, " I suggest you sit down, this may come as a shock to the both of you," Marron breathed in as she watched her mother. This was it, she was going to rip the band-aid right there…something about this was utterly nerve wracking.
Her arm linked onto the horribly uncomfortable Trunks, who refused to look up at either Krillin nor 18. "Trunks and I…" Marron said as she nudged him, trying to queue him to look back up. Marron wanted to chew him out for his lack of response…he needs to back her up!
"We are dating," Trunks said as he leaned back, now looking up at the two parents.
18's eyes flew open, her mouth running totally and completely dry. The woman raked a manicured hand through her golden locks as she looked over at her husband, who was also at a total loss for words. The two parents knew Marron was enamored with Goten… why the sudden switch up?
And what on Kami's green Earth made her choose Trunks. There was a pause between 18 and Krillin looked at each other for a mere moment, before erupting into uproarious laughter. "Oh! I get it," 18 exclaimed. "You're bullshitting us, right?"
"What… no?" Trunks looked up to the two parents. His brow quirked as he looked over to Marron, who gritted her teeth. How would she explain this one? She knew that it was not the most believable circumstance but this reaction was completely unprecedented.
"I know you guys know about my old crush on Goten," Marron tried to say through their booming laughter as she tightened her grip on Trunks' arm. She needed his support before she threw up from what she was about to say. "But Trunks and I… are in love with each other!"
That statement nearly winded the two parents as they stayed silent, before erupting into further laughter. "No way!" Krillin cried as he wiped a tear from his eye. "Marron, hon, how do you expect us to believe that when you made a declaration about how you were going to kill Trunks…"
Trunks looked over to Marron, slack-jawed. "Seriously?" he responded with a scoffed laugh, looking over to Marron with a slightly smizing glance. "How were you going to pull that off, Marronie?"
Marron's cheeks suddenly grew hot from the anger, her cheeks and ears running red. This was absolutely humiliating! She knew this wasn't believable, but both of her parents refused to see it too despite it being straight in their face… that was even worse.
The stubbornness however, did not leave. She folded her arms, snatching her arm away from Trunks as she turned her nose up at them. What she was going to say next was going to immediately cause Marron to regret ever opening her mouth. "Look, I wanted to avoid you guys finding out through DMZ, as Trunks made some untrue statements about our sex life… and I didn't want you to find out that way."
Trunks and her both had very flushed expressions. Trunks shot a glare over to the blonde, his eyes screaming "what the fuck?" It was true, this was to avoid the potential shit-storm of them not telling anyone, but did she have to bring that part up? Trunks shifted in his seat as he played with his thumbs. The room was suddenly silent.
"Marron, hon," 18 cleared her throat as she looked over to Krillin for reassurance. There was no way that her daughter truly wasn't joking. A part of her feeling slightly bad for even bringing this up. "Y-You aren't serious are you?"
Marron nodded. "As serious as a heart attack," her blue eyes lit with determination. "Take it or leave it."
At that moment, Krillin stood up as he looked over to Trunks. The short man tilted his head over to the door, beckoning Trunks to follow him. Trunks quickly stood up and followed him, in truth, anything would be better than sitting in the thick of the tension between mother and daughter.
Trunks could feel his words caught in his throat. This was worse than presenting an idea to the board, and in a board meeting he had people's livelihoods at stake.
"Are you serious about this…about Marron?" Krillin asked him as he looked him up and down, trying to find a sign of the hybrid's intentions. "You two have never gotten along, so pardon my intrusion when I say I don't believe either of you."
Trunks knew he had to lie and usually, he had an easy time doing so. But Krillin put on a strong poker face, and he really wanted to crack. But Trunks couldn't, it wouldn't be fair to Marron after putting her in such a difficult spot with her own mother. "I am completely serious, Marron means a lot to me," Trunks began, "she is stubborn and infuriating at times, but she's…"
Trunks paused, trying not to say anything that would come across as off putting. Marron was a lot of things, he could call her obnoxiously gorgeous, she had the will and drive of a billion suns and most of all…"she's Marron."
In truth, Trunks cherished Marron as a friend , and she means a lot to him as a friend. . He was also serious about their fake relationship. He didn't plan on entertaining a relationship with anyone until their goals were achieved. What they had was purely transactional.
"Seriously, Trunks," Krillin began rubbing his mustache, glaring at the sand below his brown sandals, his free hand behind his back as he contemplated what he said. "I'm having a hard time believing that," he sighed out. "But, if this is true…I'm going to need you to know something..."
Trunks perked his ears, glancing at Krillin's serious expression as the noseless man stared directly over to him. There was seldom a time that Krillin was serious in this way. "Marron really was in love with Goten for a long time, and, honestly , I don't think she's over him," the shorter man sat down at the wooden white steps of the home staring out into the ocean waves. "I don't want either of you to get hurt now," Krillin patted the stair step beside him, motioning the lavender-haired man to sit beside him, "but you may just be competing for her love."
Trunks wished he could scream into the void. He appreciated Krillin's advice, if he was intending to court Marron, but none of this meant anything to him . The fact he was so serious told him Krillin was buying into it and even offering advice… sweet but such an uncomfortable predicament to be in.
"I'll keep that in mind," Trunks responded, giving Krillin a half-hearted smile. "Trust me though, I think we will both be okay," he responded, "Marron's a lot tougher than she looks." That is true. Who else would continue to vie for someone's love after failing miserably? Only the thick skulled, infuriatingly stubborn Marron Chestnut.
There was a soft smile from Krillin. Somehow, the father barely believed Trunks. Despite having his reservations, there was a hint of something in Trunks' eye when he spoke of his daughter that told him there was more than met the eye about their relationship.
Maybe it's a Briefs thing. His mother did marry a genocidal alien turned good. "Does Vegeta know?" Krillin asked, watching Trunks' face pale, causing Krillin to chuckle. "I take that as a no."
At that moment, Marron stepped outside pushing past the two men with her mother following right behind her. Trunks caught a slight tear in Marron's eyes, a sight he'd seen more and more of as of late. "Marron, I'm sorry, that's not what I meant."
"Leave me alone," Marron huffed as she walked over to the side of Kame House, frustration tangled in her voice. Instinctively, Trunks wanted to stop the discord, having witnessed far too many between his mother and sister, but Krillin tapped his shoulder motioning him to follow him back inside. Trunks stayed still, from the doorstep, listening to the two.
18 stood a few feet away, "I'm sorry," she whispered as she approached her, watching Marron sit down in the grassy patch as she sat down beside her.
"I'm not a hussy ," Marron huffed, "it was a misunderstanding – I can't believe you'd think I'd resort to something like that because I didn't get Goten's attention."
"That was out of line for me," 18 said softly, as she held her daughter's cheek, wiping the single tear that came out. "You are a grown woman, I shouldn't question your decisions…" she stated before shooting a look back at Trunks, her eyes were like daggers, aiming straight for his vitals. "But why him?"
Marron let out a labored breath, as she hugged her knees. "He gets me," she replied, "we're just two people trying to make sense of things…is it so bad to rely on someone who you once considered the enemy?"
"Enemy is a bit drastic, yeah?" 18 chuckled as she tucked one of Marron's blonde hairs behind her ear. "As long as you are happy…that's all I care about, but I question the both of you and your motives…this is unlike you."
Trunks felt his face grow slightly warm, the conversation between the two faded out as he got further in his head. Marron should get an award for her acting, much more convincing than whatever he said to Krillin earlier. But her soft voice really pulled at his heartstrings.
He stepped off the wooden staircase as he approached the two women, his hands stuffed into his pocket, the same soft smile on his lips. "Sorry to interrupt," Trunks began as he extended a hand to Marron, "but the princess and I need to go slay a beast."
18 chuckled, shaking her head as she watched the two. No way they were together, that just didn't make sense in her head. But…stranger things have happened. "Alright, good luck with Vegeta, I'm sure he'll love to hear the news," 18 responded as she stood up, softly patting Trunks in the chest. "Don't let him eat my Marron alive, yeah?"
"You got it," Trunks said with a thumbs up as he pulled Marron up from the ground.
Now in a capsule vehicle, Marron looked over to Trunks, pressing her lips tightly together. "So what did you talk about…" she began, looking over to Trunks who focused looking at the sky ahead.
"Oh, y'know," Trunks began as he tapped the wheel, "he started asking me all about how serious I was about you, I lied and said I'm serious, then he believed me, the usual exchange between a boyfriend and girlfriend's dad."
Marron chuckled as she looked out the window. "Thanks," she hummed softly as she watched the clouds float by, "for not letting me do it alone."
"Are you kidding?" Trunks scoffed, "as accursed as this whole situation is, we don't leave each other stranded in the battlefield." There was something he wouldn't bring himself to say, though not a physical equal, Marron was as stubborn as the rest of the fighters. A quality he admired in Marron, despite her infuriating demeanor otherwise.
Marron leaned her head against the window, casting a side glance at the hybrid. "Why are you being nice to me today?"
"Call it a temporary truce," Trunks chimed, "and, because we seem to have a common enemy now."
"Oh, and who is that?" Marron chuckled as she folded her arms, looking over to him watching his lips pull into a smirk. That went without saying, and he's surprised Marron isn't more upset at him today than usual about it
"Bulla, obviously," Trunks replied coolly. "She got us into this mess, I swear she is trying to ruin my life."
"She's just a teenager, I swore the same thing about you when I was her age," Marron rolled her eyes looking down to her manicured nails. "You don't think she's figured us out has she?"
Trunks let out a solid laugh, shaking his head. If Bulla figured them out, then she truly is a genius. But no, she's blinded by the shiny idea that her brother is dating someone and too involved in her bet with Pan to really focus on the real picture.
"No way, honestly though," Trunks looked over to Marron who paused from observing her nails to look back at him. Her gaze was so similar to her mother's…it was kind of freaky in Truns' opinion, the two had the same icy blue eyes, but somehow Marron's was far friendlier. "I'm surprised you aren't chewing me out."
"Like you said," Marron said with a soft smirk, "temporary truce, don't get used to it…"
The two approached closer and closer to Capsule Corp, and the closer it was in the distance the more it felt like a ticking time-bomb. As the two got off the vehicle, Vegeta wasted absolutely no time as he made a spectacle of the two storming out of the entrance.
"Boy, explain now," Vegeta barked pointing at Marron who stood trying to cower behind Trunks.
"What is there to explain?" Trunks groaned, like he had been anticipating this conversation whilst he folded his arms. "Yes, I'm dating the toaster's daughter."
Vegeta shot a glare over to Marron, who wanted to melt into a puddle and disappear. To Vegeta, her lack of urgency was a sign of weakness, no spunk to fight back. "You're mating with the weakling?"
Marron's expression immediately soured. Mating was a strong word, reserved for inappropriate situations that she and Trunks did not partake in. "This is spitting on your grandfather's grave."
"Good thing he doesn't have one!" Trunks snapped back causing Marron's eyes to widen, rather dramatically.
Marron's breath hitched. Should she say something? Would this remedy the situation? "That's a bit…much, Trunks," Marron chimed in, prompting Vegeta to look over to Marron once more. "Mr. Vegeta…sir, I assure you t-that nothing lewd–"
How dare she even attempt to speak to him? And, how dare his own son speak to him with such blatant disrespect. He was not having it. Vegeta plainly ignored her as he looked over to his son, "Trunks, gravity chamber – ten minutes."
Trunks was at a loss watching his dad storm off into the building leaving the two of them outside alone. "So much for Bulla handling it," Trunks grumbled as he cast a sad glance over to the blonde. "He's a dick…but all things considered that went a lot better than I thought."
Marron placed a hand on her hip, her lips thin as she shook her head. "Yeah, thank Kami we aren't ever getting married, I'd hate to have him as an in-law," she chuckled, folding her arms. "Guess it's time to get whipped into shape with 'geets."
He looked at her momentarily, shaking his head in disapproval. "No, don't call him that," Trunks replied, giving her a pitiful stare. "You may just get blasted into otherworld."
The color drained out of Marron's face. A grim statement for him to make, but fair. Though she was sure Vegeta would never do such a thing, it's the mere thought that Trunks had to warn her of that…it truly set the tone. Suddenly, she was somewhat concerned for Trunks' own well being.
"Do you want me to stay?" Marron asked, hoping he'd say no.
A part of him wanted her to, for the sake that he was there with her for her parents. But would it be fair to put her through any of Vegeta's verbal assaults, especially after the promise he made 18? "Absolutely not," Trunks replied, "I'll call you…with an update…hopefully."
"Well, don't die," Marron snickered as she patted the Saiyan in the back, "I can't do this if you're gone."
Trunks pursed his lips, nodding in sarcastic agreement. She must know how dumb that sounded right? "Great encouragement, Marron, I'll take that into consideration when he punches the literal shit out of me," Trunks replied.
Marron rolled her eyes as she watched Bulla and Bulma emerge from the building, their eyes wide. "Dad is not happy with you," Bulla replied, "tried to talk to him," she said with a nonchalant shrug.
"Did you now?" Bulma responded, "Because all I heard was you just talking about Marron."
Bulla spun on her heel, glaring back at her mother who was now standing between the "couple". "Yeah, obviously, Marron's awesome!" Bulla said as she threw her arms around Marron into a bear hug, "I finally have the big sister I've always wanted!"
That is true. Bulla loved Marron, in fact she would beg her to do sleep overs for years and when she finally did, she was the happiest kid in all of West City. Unlike Trunks, she could give her useful advice that she didn't have to awkwardly pry out of her mom, especially in the subject of boys.
Though Marron wasn't the kind of girl that kissed and told…she had a few beau's that were fascinating for teen and pre-teen Bulla to hear about. And…now that her brother was dating her, she was one step closer to realizing her dream of having a big sister.
"Ouch, Bulla," Trunks said as he pried her off of Marron. "First of all, she's nobody's property, and we aren't even married."
"Yet," Bulla replied with a wink, making Trunks and Marron go totally pale. The mere thought of marrying one another was disgusting .
"Alrighty," Bulma said clasping her hands together, grabbing Bulla by the shoulders and guiding her back inside, "Marron it was wonderful for you to stop by, let's chat more when Vegeta has cooled down some more, yeah?" Bulma asked, a smile on her lips as she tilted her head towards the entrance for Trunks reminding him that his dad was waiting for him.
"Ah…yeah…totally," Marron replied waving to the chaotic trio before she was left alone outside the compound. She turned around staring at the sky, as it turned to hints of orange and purples and the soft glow of the sunset bounced off of her.
Even if things seemed crazy, Marron held out hope that this would all work out in the end. The crazy lies and schemes, the impossible fake relationship — she wished for the best, deciding to fully trust Trunks in this ridiculous plan.
Is it silly to believe Goten will fall for her, over such futile attempts, despite all her stubbornness? Maybe, but today, Trunks and her were able to overcome their differences…and work as a team to dupe their parents without a squabble. If she was able to do that then…
"I'm Marron fucking Chestnut, and I can do anything."
AN: OKKK thoughts?! Seriously this chapter took a lot out of me, I finally got an app and organized this fic properly and I'm thinking 25-ish chapters, not totally sure yet. The true Marron Vegeta scene is yet to come ;)
