Episode 67: The Grass Route

Mew and her friends continue on their journey to Ecruteak City and are near their next stop of their journey.

Brock looks at the guidebook, "According to this guidebook, as soon as we get over this mountain, we'll be in Ecruteak City."

"I can't wait to get to that gym. I gotta win that Ecruteak badge!" Mew says.

"Eevee!" (Me, too!) Eevee says.

And Pikachu says, "Pika!" (Me, three!)

Misty then notices the Grass Pokemon, "Look! Sunflora, and Oddish, and Bellsprout!"

"Yeah, and Gloom, too!" Tomo says.

And Brock says, "The guidebook said that there's supposed to be lots of grass Pokémon around here."

Suddenly, the group turns their heads to see a Pokemon running by. A plant Pokémon that has a round, green body with stubby arms, feet, and tail. It has large, flat ears on the sides of its head and oval, orange eyes with no pupils. On top of its head is a yellow bloom with a white center. Skiploom spreads its petals to absorb as much sunlight as possible.

"Hey, a Skiploom!" mew says, and brings out her Pokedex.

Dexter says, "Skiploom, the evolved form of Hoppip. A Grass and Flying Type. This happy go-lucky grass-type has a flower on its head which opens and closes depending on the temperature."

"Wow, that Skiploom looks like it's in a hurry," Jen says.

"Amaura," (It sure is.) Amaura says.

The Skiploom skips up to a young boy with messy dark blue navy hair. He appears to has been standing in the middle of the field next to the road)

The boy says, "Well, Skippy, are you ready? Gotta make sure that you're all warmed up for the gym!"

Mew and the others approach it.

"I guess that little Skiploom must belong to you," Mew says.

"That's right!" The boy says.

"It seems like a real happy little Pokémon. Have you been Skiploom's trainer for a long time?" Mew says.

"Sure have. Skippy here is the first Pokémon I ever trained," The boy says and turns to his Pokemon, "Isn't that right, Skippy?"

Skippy the Skiploom confirms.

"Really?" Mew replies, "That's just like us. Huh, Pikachu and Eevee?"

Then the boy introduces himself, "My name's Ephraim. What's your name?"

"I'm Mew. It's nice to meet you," Mew says.

"My name's Misty," Misty says,

And Brock introduces himself, "Hi, Ephraim, I'm Brock!"

"I'm Tomo," Tomo says.

"Hello. My name is Jen," Jen says.

"And my name is Molly," Molly says.

` "Hi, Brock! Hi, Misty! Hi, everyone. You guys must be going to the gym in Ecruteak City," Ephraim says.

"Yeah. How'd you know we were going there?" Mew asks.

"Just about everybody who comes up the mountains headed there," Ephraim says.

Then asks "Mew, are you the one who's gonna challenge the Ecruteak City gym leader to a match?

"Uh-huh," Mew says, "And I'm going for another Johto League badge." And shows her badges.

"Wow, you must be really Pokemon great trainers, Mew," Ephiram says,

Mew blushes a bit, "Thank you, but I still have plenty to learn of being a good trainer."

Then Ephraim asks, "Hey Mew. You wouldn't happen to have any grass Pokemon, would you?"

"Grass Pokemon? Sure, I have Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Chikorita, Floette, and a few others," Mew says.

"Then how about a battle?" Ephiram says, "You can use either of your grass Pokemon against me and Skiploom."

"Sure. I don't mind," Mew says.

Soon, the two trainers are ready to battle.

"Ready when you are!" Mew says.

Ephraim calls out, "Ready!"

Mew throws her Pokeball and calls out, "I choose you, Chikorita!"

Chikorita comes out of the Pokemon.

"We can beat a Chikorita!" Ephraim says.

And calls out, "Skiploom, use a Tackle attack!"

Skiploom charges, however it has a little damage.

"I guess your Skiploom's too little for its Tackle attack to work on Chikorita!" Mew says.

Then Ephraim calls out, "Skiploom, try a Double Team attack!"

Soon, Skiploom forms multiple copies of itself, surrounding Chikorita

"It may be little, but its Double Team is awesome!" Misty says.

"You're right, and it takes a lot of training to build speed like that!" Brock says.

"Interesting, your little Skippy is fast, but let's see if I can keep up," Mew says.

Then calls out, "Chikorita, use your Razor Leaf attack!"

Chikoirta uses the attack a few times. At the third Razor Leaf hits the real Skiploom.

"That was a pretty good Double Team, but not as good as your Razor Leaf," Mew says.

Then Ephraim calls out, "Skippy, try a Leech Seed attack!"

Skippy then launches two Leech Seeds.

Mew calls out, "Quick, Chikorita! Knock those seeds away with your Vine Whip!"

Chikorita does so.

"Nice work! " Mew says. Then calls out the next attack, "Finish with a Tackle attack!"

Chikorita charges and attacks and Skiploom is knocked out.

Seeing what happened, Mew says, "Whoops. That might have come out too strong.

Ephraim holds his knocked out Pokemon, "Just hang in there, little buddy. You'll be okay."

"Sorry, Skippy. I guess we got carried away," Mew apologizes.

"Chikorita." (Sorry.) Chikoria says.

"That's okay, Ash. Skiploom will be okay," Ephraim says.

And Brock suggests, "Maybe the best thing to do is to take Skippy home so it can rest."

Yeah," Ephraim agrees.

Soon, Mew and her friends arrive at Ephraim's house, where they meet his mom and dad.

Ephraim's dad says, "No wonder Skippy's exhausted. It sounds like the both of you had a pretty tough battle out there today, son."

"Skippy and I tried all our best attacks, but Mew showed me how an elite trainer handles Pokemon," Ephraim says.

Then his dad says, "Well, I know you're disappointed about losing son, but you should be very grateful. I'm sure you and Skippy learned a lot from battling with an elite trainer like Mew."

Mew chuckles, "I do what I can to help the kids.

Then Ephraim's father asks, "How would you and your friends like to stay here tonight?"

"We'd all like that a whole lot, thanks," Mew says.

Meanwhile, the Pokemon are looking at the flowers and plants. Meloetta even sniffs one of them.

"These are so beautiful," Misty says.

Ephraim's mother says, "Thank you, but they wouldn't be half as nice if our grass Pokemon hadn't helped us grown them."

Everyone becomes puzzled.

"Your, grass Pokemon helped?" Brock asks.

Outside, everyone sees some grass Pokemon tending to flowers, among them include Sunflora, Hoppip and Bellossom.

Ephraim's father says, "It's only natural that grass Pokémon could understand the feelings of flowers and plants a lot better than people could."

"Interesting. That does make sense," Brock says.

"Grass Pokémon always look so peaceful and gentle," Misty says.

You're right," Jen says.

Then Ephraim says, "That might be the way they look, but grass Pokemon can be a real tough battlers too."

"My son wants to prove that, so he's signed up to compete in his first grass Pokémon tournament," Ephraim's mother replies.

"There's a tournament just for grass Pokémon?" Mew asks.

Then Ephraim's father says, "Yes, there's lots of grass Pokémon trainers here, and it's become kind of a tradition. It may not be the Indigo Plateau, the Orange Island League or the Silver Conference, but we enjoy it."

"Wow," Jen says.

"So that must be why you challenged Mew to a battle when we first met!" Brock says.

"That's right. You gotta have experience to win a big tournament," Ephraim says.

Then Tomo says, "Maybe we can enter the tournament. I can enter with Sage."

"Great idea. I can enter Lilligant," Jen says.

Misty turns to Mew, "Hey Mew, do you want to enter the tournament?"

"Hmm, not this time. I gotta think about what I need to do for my next gym battle," Mew says.

"Good point," Misty says.

All of them begin to think about the interesting tournament.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket is elsewhere relaxing.

James sighs, "Ahh, isn't this lovely? Clouds of white, a sky of blue, and a plate of hamburgers. Ah, I'm so happy."

Meowth and Jessie soon sneak two of the burgers on James' plate.

James cries out, "Hey, you're eating my share!"

But Jessie says, "We have to share and share alike, James. It's all for one and one for all."

"Dat's da spirit of Team Rocket!" Meowth says.

"But that's MY hamburger!" James cries out.

The two burger-burglars run away laughing while James pursues.

James cries out, "Come back here you traitors, that's my lunch!"

Wobbuffet then comes in and eats the last of James' burgers.

"Et tu, Wobbuffet?" James questions in shock.

Just then, a piece of paper soon blows into James' face.

James removes the paper, "Hey, what's this?" and look at it.

"What's what?" Meowth asks.

"Read it to us, James," Jessie says.

Then James says, "There's going to be a grass Pokemon tournament tomorrow."

"There's a grass Pokemon tournament?" Jessie asks.

Meowth snatches the paper, "The winner will be handed the victory trophy and a collection of valuable Leaf Stones."

"Leaf Stones, huh?" Jessie and James replies.

Then Meowth says, "Those are the rocks they use to make grass Pokemon evolve."

"This is perfect!" Jessie says, "All we have to do is enter the tournament, win the Leaf Stones and sell them!"

"And luckily, I have a grass Pokemon I can battle with!" James says.

"Wobb-uffet!" (How fortunate!) Wobbuffet agrees.

"Alright, Victreebel, let's do some training!" James says, and calls out Victreebel.

However, Victreebel begins to try to eat James again.

James cries out, "Victreebel, battle the competition, not me!"

"It's too bad we don't have another grass Pokémon we could use," Meowth says.

Just then, Jessie chuckles, "When the going gets tough, Meowth, the tough get ideas. And I happen to have a brilliant one. I'm going to enter that tournament, too! Now we'll have two chances to win those Leaf Stones!"

"I hate to break the news to you, Jess, but we ain't got another grass Pokémon," Meowth says.

"Ah! Leave that to me," Jessie says.

Meowth starts to get suspicious as Jessie glares at him weirdly.

"If you're thinking what I'm thinking, I think I'm in trouble!" Meowth says.

Meanwhile, back at Ephraim's house, training is underway.

Ephraim calls out, "Skiploom, Double Team attack!"

Multiple copies of Skippy soon form.

"Hurry! Gotta go faster!" Ephraim says.

Skippy does go faster.

And Ephraim calls out, "Faster! Faster!"

Skippy goes even faster.

Ephraim then calls out, "Great! Let's take a break, Skippy!"

The copies soon return to the original.

"That was really good, Skip. I think your Double Team's getting a lot quicker. I guess we're sorta like these flowers," Ephraim says and looks at the flowers, "They start as seeds, then chutes, then buds, and then the flowers bloom. You and I grow a little day by day just like the flowers do, don't we, Skip?"

Skippy happily agrees.

Mew says, "That was a great training session!"

"You guys work really hard!" Misty says.

"We do," Ephraim says, "Skiploom are pretty small and light, so we have to train extra hard to make sure we can compete against bigger Pokemon."

"That's good thinking, but you better be careful. Don't over-train and get too tired to battle in the tournament tomorrow," Brock says.

"We won't," Ephraim says.

"I can't wait until tomorrow. Sage and I have been training," Tomo says.

"Don't forget me and Lilligant," Jen says.

"I'm sure you all trained hard, and good luck tomorrow," Mew says.

"Yeah," Tomo says.

Ephraim turns to Skippy, "Well, Skippy, think we're ready to win tomorrow?"

Skippy confirms.

And so, the next day, at the stadium, the fans are ready as the tournament begins.

Soon the Announcer says, "Welcome! Welcome, one and all! The 45th annual Grass Tournament is about to begin!"

It soon shows the prize waiting to be claimed. Inside the locker room, all the trainers get ready.

And Team Rocket is among them.

"This place looks like loserville," James says.

"We're a cinch to win those Leaf Stones," Jessie says.

"I only got one request, you guys. Don't foitalize me," Meowth says, dressed as a Sunflora.

Meanwhile, Mew and the others wait for their turn. Jen has her Hisuian Lilligant. Tomo has Sage the Bulbasaur, and Ephraim has Skippy the Skiploom.

Soon, the referee approaches Tomo "Tomo? Your match is up first."

"We're ready to go!" Tomo says.

Then turns to the others, "Wish us luck."

Soon, Mew and Sage are ready to compete

The announcer says, "Appearing in his first grass Pokemon tournament, Tomo and his Bulbasaur, Sage.

The rest of the gang is up in the grandstands watching

"Go get em, Tomo!" Brock calls out.

Misty cheers, "You can do it!"

"Do your best Tomo!" Mew cheers.

The trainer says, "We'll pulverize em! Right, Gloom?"

Gloom agrees.

"Let's wrap this up, Sage," Tomo says.

Sage agrees.

Announcer says, "And now the first match of the tournament is about to start!"

Referee then says, "Ready? Begin!"

"Let's go get em, Gloom!" The trainer calls out, "Start off with a Petal Dance!"

Gloom performs the attack.

Then Tomo calls out, "Sage, grab it with your Vine Whip."

Sage then grabs Gloom with the Vine Whip before it can attack.

"Now, throw it for a loop! Tomo calls out.

Sage then throws Gloom like a sack of potatoes.

The referee announces, "Gloom is unable to continue! Bulbasaur is the winner!"

"Great job, Sage!" Tomo cheers.

"Bulbasaur!" (Alright!) Bulbasaur cheers.

Announcer says, "A quick victory for young Tomo, he and his Bulbasaur will move on to the next round."

"Tomo is doing really great, isn't she?" Misty says.

"Go Tomo!" Mew cheers.

Ephraim's mom then says, "Our boy, Ephraim's, match is coming up next, dear."

"This is so exciting!" Ephraim's dad says.

Ephraim's family's grass Pokemon all cheer when Ephraim himself takes the field.

Announcer then says, "Now, two newcomers in their debut match. A local boy, Ephraim, and his Skiploom are pitted against a Victreebel and its trainer who goes by the name of mister Semaj."

Jessie cheers, "Destroy him, James! I mean, mister Semaj!"

Flora Flora!" Meowth cheers.

Ephraim's parents cheer, "Good luck, Ephraim!" "You can do it!"

Ephraim takes a deep breath, "Stay calm no matter what. If we battle smart, nobody can beat Skippy and me."

"Ready? Begin!" The referee announces.

"Okay, Skiploom, let's do it!" Ephraim calls out.

Skippy charges onto the battlefield.

James calls out, "Victreebel, attack with your Razor Leaf!"

Victreebel launches the attack, but Skippy dodges.

"The battle is on and Victreebel's on the offensive!" The announcer says.

James calls out, "Hurry, Victreebel, Vine Whip attack!"

Victreebel closes in to use the attack.

But Ephraim calls out, "Skiploom, dodge that Vine Whip!"

Victreebel launches the attack, and Skippy frantically dodges.

Ephraim's father says, "They've got to attack!"

"This is bad! They're letting Victreebel take control!" Brock says.

And Misty says, "If Skiploom gets tired, the match is over!"

Victreebel attacks over and over.

The Announcer says, "Victreebel is attacking relentlessly!"

"We can't win the match like this! We have to attack Victreebel!" Ephraim says.

Suddenly, Skiploom is wrapped up by Victreebel's attack.

"Skippy's caught in its vine!" Ephraim says, shocked.

James then says, "Alright, Victreebel, toss it into the air!"

Victreebel does so.

Then James says, "Now squash it with Tackle attack!"

Victreebel leaps up to do so.

Ephraim then calls out, "Quick, Skippy! Try a Leech Seed attack!"

Skippy launches the attack and the Leech Seed quickly wraps Victreebel up.

"What's that!?" James claims.

And the attack takes effect.

Ephraim then calls out, "Now surround it with your Double Team attack, Skiploom!"

Skiploom does so, making Victreebel dizzy enough to knock itself out.

"Get up! We can't lose!" James calls out, but nothing happens.

The referee announces, "Victreebel is unable to battle! Skiploom is the winner!"

"We won! We won! We won!" Ephraim cheers.

The announcer says, "That was a thrilling come from behind win. The parents of this talented young trainer must be proud."

Ephraim's parents cheer, "We're very proud!"

His father happily says, "That was my son, Ephraim! Isn't he the greatest little trainer you ever saw?"

And his mother says, "I always knew my son had talent, even when he was a baby! He used to change his own diapoers!"

Then they both cheer, "We're the proudest Pokemon trainer parents in the whole world!" And then they both laugh happily and proudly.

"Sometimes I wish, they weren't," Ephraim says, embarrassed.

I guess that training yesterday really paid off," Misty says.

And Brock says, "Skiploom's Double Team speed's really picking up. It's faster today than it was yesterday."

Seeing the event, Jessie says, "James and that Victreebel are totally worthless. Now you and I will have to win those Leaf Stones."

Then the announcer says, "And now we will begin with our third battle. Jen along with her Hisuian Lilliant."

"Begin!" The referee announces.

The other training calls out, "Bellossom use Sleep Powder."

Bellossom uses Sleep Powder.

"Lilligant, dodge and use Leaf Blade!" Jen calls out.

Lilligant dodges the attack and uses Leaf Blade with a hard strike. Bellossom has been knocked down, but is able to get up.

The trainer then calls out, "Bellossom, use Petal Dance!"

Bellossom then uses Petal Dance.

"Lilligant, quick! Dodge and use Magical Leaf!" Jen calls out.

Lilligant dodges the attack and performs Magical Leaf with full force and Bellossom is knocked out.

"Bellossom is unable to battle. Lilligant is the victor," The referee cheers.

"Yay!" Jen cheers.

Mew and the others cheer happily for Jen's win.

Soon after, Tomo and Sage the Bulbasaur are ready to battle.

"Now it's time for Tomo's battle!" The announcer says.

Suddenly, a trumpet fanfare is soon heard.

Then the announcer says, "Now it's time for the first round winner, Tomo's second matchup."

Tomo turns to Sage, "Ready Sage?"

"Bulbasaur," (Ready.) Sage says.

They soon see Team Rocket in disguise as they approach the battlefield.

"And now, making their way into the arena is Tomo's opponent. The mysterious beauty only known as Eissej."

Misty says, "Hey, Brock. How do they know if she's a beauty if she's wearing a veil over her face?"

The announcers, "Eissej will be using her Sunflora and Tomo is sticking with Bulbasaur."

"Be tough, Meowth. This is our chance to humiliate that stuck-up twerp," Jessie says.

And Meowth says, "Don't worry, Jessie. I got my thorns out."

Tomo says, confused, "There's something strange about that Sunflora, better keep on your toes, Sage."

Sage agrees.

The referee announces, "Ready? Begin!"

Jessie calls out, "Go Meow-I mean, Sunflora!"

"Flora Flora!" Meowth calls out and charges forward.

"Sage, Take Down attack!" Tomo calls out.

Sage charges.

Jessie calls out, "Sunflora, Scratch attack!"

Meowth then uses the attack.

"Scratch?!" Tomo says, confused.

Sage lands on his toes.

Confused, Brock says, "Misty, how can a Sunflora have a Scratch attack?"

"Something funny's going on," Misty says.

"That's weird," Molly says.

James cheers, "Sunflora! Sunflora! Sunflora!"

Jessie calls out, "Now, a Scratch attack fake out!

"Meowth claps his 'leaves', causing Sage to flinch, giving Meowth the opening he needs to strike with a kick.

"Sage!" Tomo cries out.

Then Jessie calls out, "Follow up with Fury Swipes!"

Meowth continues to use the attack.

Jessie chuckles triumphantly, "How embarrassing. My Sunflora's cutting you to ribbons."

"No way! A Sunflora couldn't use those attacks!" Tomo says.

The announcers, "Bulbasaur's having a tough time against this Sunflora's unconventional attacks!"

"There's gotta be some way to stop Sunflora!" Tomo says.

Just then, Tomo has an idea, "Sage, Razor Leaf attack!"

Sage then fires two razor leaves, cutting off part of Meowth's disguise.

"Guys, what's that?!" Brock asks.

"Looks like an ear!" Misty says.

"But Sunfloras don't have ears," Jen says.

Then Tomo calls out, "Sage, keep hitting Sunflora with your Razor Leaf attack!"

Sage does so, eventually cutting Meowth's disguise apart and revealing his identity.

Meowth cries out, "My petals have fallen!"

"It's Meowth!" Tomo shouts.

"Saur Bulbasaur!" (Which can only mean one thing!) Sage says.

"That means Team Rocket here!" Mew says.

"Those cheaters!" Molly says.

Jessie shouts at Meowth, "What's that matter with you?! We almost had them beat!

"Our plan's ruined!" James shouts.

And soon, the announcer says, "Folks, that Sunflora is an imposter!"

And with that, Team Rocket performs their motto.

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble's our word to the wise!

James:

And make it double, it's us in disguise!

Jessie:

To protect the world from devastation.

James:

To unite all peoples within our nation.

Jessie:

To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James:

To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie: (removes disguise)

Jessie.

James: (removes disguise)

James.

Jessie:

Yes, it's Team Rocket, blasting off at the speed of light.

James:

Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight, fight!

Meowth:

Meowth, dat's right!

"What do you want?!" Tomo demands.

Team Rocket makes a dash for the prizes as Meowth says, "We just want dem Leaf Stones!"

Team Rocket leap for them, "There they are!"

But Tomo says, "Not so fast, Sage, Vine Whip attack em!"

Sage then attacks them with Vine Whip and sends them flying as they cry out, "Team Rocket got whipped again!"

Mew and the others cheer, "Alright!"

Throughout the tournament, Tomo, Jen, and even Ephraim are doing great. By the time the finals has come, it's revealed that Tomo is still going with Sage while Ephraim is going with Skiploom.

The announcer says, "This is it, folks. We're down to the final matchup. It's Mew and Bulbasaur versus Ephraim and Skiploom."

Misty asks, "Who do you think is gonna win this match, Brock?"

"Tomo and Bulbasaur definitely have more experience and ability, but I'm sure that Tomo knows much tougher Ephraim and Skiploom have gotten and how much they want to win this."

"It's so exciting to have Ephraim and Mew in the final! I'll be happy when either one of them wins the match," Ephraim's father says.

"Me, too!" His mother agrees.

Then they both cheer, "We're rooting for the both of you, boys!

"You've both been great, but we're gonna win this one, Ephraim," Mew says.

And Ephraim says, "We fought hard to get here, Mew. And we didn't come to lose!"

The referee announces, "Ready? Begin!"

Ephraim calls out, "Get in there, Skippy!"

Skippy charges.

And Tomo calls out, "Let's do it, Sage!"

Sage charges in.

Ephraim calls out, "Skiploom, use your Double Team attack!"

Multiple Skiploom copies swam the field.

Tomo calls out, "Sage, use your Razor Leaf attack!"

Sage launches the attack, striking multiple Skiploom copies, but not the real one.

"It's faster than I thought," Tomo says.

Then Ephraim calls out, "Okay, Skip, try a Leech Seed attack!"

Each of the Skiploom copies fire a Leech Seed.

Tomo calls out, "Knock those seeds away, Sage! Whack em with your Vine Whip!"

Sage does so, revealing the real Leech Seed, which is sent flying right into the real Skiploom.

Ephraim calls out, "Skippy, are you hurt?!"

"Ware Skiploom down with a Vine Whip barrage!" Tomo calls out.

Sage does so.

Ephraim calls out, "You can do it, Skippy! Try to hang in there until we can attack em back!"

Skippy continues to get pounded.

"I think this may be it," Ephraim's mother says.

Then his mother says, "Tomo is just too good! I guess our son's winning streak is finally over."

Suddenly, Brock says, "You know, I have a funny feeling this match isn't gonna end the way we think."

"It won't?" The girls say, confused.

Skiploom is soon knocked back.

"Are you okay, Skip?" Ephraim asks.

Skippy confirms, and is able to get up. Just then, the flower on Skippy's head starts gathering sunlight.

Brock calls out, "Guys! Look!"

Seeing Skiploom hurt, Ephriam calls out, "I don't want you to get hurt, Skippy, so we'll stop when you say so. But you worked just as hard as I did to get here. We can't give up until it's totally over!"

As Ephraim talks, Skippy gathers more sunlight, preparing for its ultimate attack.

Then Tomo calls out, "Sage, end it with Tackle Attack!"

Sage then charges in.

Ephraim calls out, "Okay, do whatever it takes to stop it, Skippy!"

Right on cue, Skippy fires a Solar Beam attack.

"Oh, no!" Tomo says in shock.

The sudden fire of the Solar Beam shocks everyone.

"Skiploom's using a Solar Beam attack!" Brock says.

Skippy's attack lands and sends Sage flying.

"Sage!" Tomo calls out.

Then Ephraim calls out, "Now's our chance! Try a Tackle attack!"

Skippy charges and nails at the attack.

"Sage!" Tomo cries out.

And soon, Bulbasaur falls to the ground. He tries to get up, but is unable to and knocked out.

The referee announces, "Bulbasaur is unable to battle! Skiploom is the tournament winner!"

Ephraim's parents cheer, "He did it!"

Then the announcer says, "In a stunning comeback, first time trainer Ephraim defeats Tomo and is victorious in his first tournament appearance."

"We...did it," Ephraim says, surprised, and amazed.

Tomo rushes to Sage, "Sage."

Ephraim looks over and sees Tomo and his friends checking on Sage.

Tomo asks, "Sarge, how do you feel, buddy?"

Ephraim rushes to them, "Bulbasaur, are you okay?"

Sage regains consciousness and nods his head.

"Thank goodness for that," Molly says, relieved.

Tomo turns to Ephraim, "You guys surprised me, Ephraim. I never expected a Solar Beam from Skippy."

"Neither did I. Skippy sure never knew how to use a Solar Beam attack like that before the tournament," Ephraim says.

Brock then says, "Its level must've gone up during the match. You both trained hard and battled hard in your matches, it's that kind of determination and experience that helps Pokemon go to higher levels and learn more powerful attacks."

Ephraim nods his head, "You're right."

Tomo then presents his hand, "You did great, Ephraim. You deserve to win."

"Thanks," Ephraim says.

Then the two shake hands.

Later on the award ceremony takes place, with Ephraim is on the victory podium

The announcer says, "The winners of this year's grass Pokemon tournament, Ephraim and his Skiploom! They've won the tournament trophy, the Leaf Stones, and the admiration of this crowd!"

Everyone claps and cheers happily for Ephraim and Skippy's win.
