Episode 68: The Apple Crop
Mw and her friends continue their journey to get to Ecruteak City for Mew's next battle.
Just then, Pikachu smells something, "Pi...Pika? (Do...you smell something?)
Mew then smells the air too, "I smell something too, Pikachu. Let's go find out what it is."
Mew then dashes forwards with Pikachu and Eevee. Tomo, Melotta, Skwovet, Jen, Amaura, and others decide to follow.
"Guys, wait up!" Misty calls.
When they arrive, everyone is amazed to see what it is.
"It's an orchard!"
"Eevee Eevee!" (Full of apples!) Eevee says.
The group rushes over to see the orchard.
"Oh, wow! That fruit looks delicious!" Brock says.
"It sure does!" Misty agrees.
Togepi and Pichu happily agree
Tomo turns to Mew and the others, "Can we check out the orchard?
"Skwovet?" (Can we?)) Skwovet asks.
"I don't think so. You can't just help yourself. That's stealing," Misty says.
"It's not illegal to look. Come on, let's go," Mew says.
Mew, Pikachu and Eevee go on ahead and explore the orchard.
Suddenly, Pikachu hears something, "Pi? Pika? Pika? ("Huh? What was that? Where's that sound coming from?)
Pikachu looks up and sees apples disappearing off the trees
"Pika?" (What?) Pikachu questions in shock.
Mew turns to Pikachu, "What's wrong Pikachu?
Soon, a few apple cores hit Mew on the head.
"Ow!" Mew yelps and rubs her head
Mew looks up, "Hey!"
Soon, Misty and the others rush over.
Misty soon notices the cores on the ground.
"What happened?" Misty asks.
"These cores just hit me on the head," Mew says.
Then Pikachu points out, "Pika! Pika! Pika Pika!" (Up there! Look up! Something's in the trees!)
Everyone soon looks up in the trees.
"I don't see anything but apples," Jen says.
And then an apple falls on Eevee's head, making her yelp, "EEV!" (OW!)
Mew turns to see Eevee rubbing her head and the apple on the ground.
"How did that happen?" Molly asks.
Pikachu then picks up the apple that has hit Eevee on the head.
"Are you okay, Eevee?" Mew asks.
Eevee nods in reply.
"Maybe there's some reason…" Misty says.
But before Misty can finish her sentence an apple falls on Misty, Tom and Brock's heads.
They all scream, "OW!"
And then a net is tossed and captures Pikachu.
"Pikachu!" Mew cries out.
Soon, someone approaches them, "Well, well. I finally caught you, you criminal."
Everyone turns to see a young woman in red overalls and has purple pigtails.
She stands over Pikachu and says, "So you're the sneaky little apple poacher I've been looking for."
Of course, Brock has been love struck, "Ahh! I've found her! Where else but an orchard can I hope to discover the sweet and luscious apple of my eye? Please accept my apology, my friend's Pikachu deserves any and every punishment!"
However, this time, Mew grabs Brock by the ear, "Zip it love boy! If anyone is going to get punished is you! And how dare you act like my Pikachu's a criminal!"
Brock yelps, "Ow! Mew! Not you too!"
Then she lets go of Brock's ear and he falls to the ground. Tomo, Jen, and Molly snicker as they cover their mouths. Misty simply smiles in satisfaction that now Mew's doing what she does to Brock.
Mew then turns to the girl, "Miss I think there's a big misunderstanding. My Pikachu says he didn't steal any fruit and I believe him."
"How can you believe him when he's got one of my apples right in his hands?! What more proof do you need?" The girl says.
"Pikachu!" (I didn't do it!) Pikachu cries out.
Mew then removes the net.
And the girl says, "You're not going to get away with this!"
Mew takes a look at the apple in question, "Interesting. Pikachu, open your mouth as wide as you can."
Pikachu does so.
Mew then says, "Look at those teeth, miss. Pikachu couldn't have made those bite marks. I've seen his bite marks before, but the apple is small."
"That's true," The girl says.
And realizes her mistake, "Oh, I am so sorry for blaming your Pikachu! Please, forgive me!"
"That's okay. It did look kinda suspicious, I guess," Mew says.
Then rubs her head, "Except when you get hit by apples upon entry."
Then the girl says, "When you work as hard as I do tending the trees, it really hurts to know that somebody's out there stealing the fruit. So, when I thought I caught the thief, I suppose I just got carried away."
Later, back at her cabin, the young lady, named Charmaine, settles our heroes down for a zesty meal of apples.
"Charmaine, when you said you tend all the trees here, did you mean you do it all by yourself?" Jen asks.
"Yes, just me," Charmaine says.
"I bet trying to run an orchard and protect it, too, is a lot of work for one person," Tomo says.
"I manage alright, but now that it's harvest time, it would be nice to have some help," Charmaine says.
The group then looks at each other and nods their heads.
Then Mew says, "We have an idea, Charmaine. Since you've been so nice to us, maybe we could return the favor and spend the day helping you pick apples."
"Oh, I couldn't ask you," Charmaine says.
But Brock takes Charmaine's hand, "Please, you must allow us to assist you! We can work side by side, sweating and toiling in the broiling sun or shivering in the freezing wind and rain! Every day from sun-up to sun-down."
"Why can't we just buy a bag of apples from the supermarket?" Misty questions with a slump.
"I think it sounds fun," Molly replies.
Soon, Charmaine leads the group to the security system in another part of the orchard.
"I strung these noisemakers through the trees so they'll go off whenever Pidgey come and try to take the apples," Charmaine says.
"Isn't that a clever idea? Clever idea," Brock says.
"It may be clever, but unfortunately, my apples are still disappearing," Charmaine says.
Meanwhile, a grabber grabs one of the apples and reels it in through the bushes. We soon see that it's Team Rocket up to their old tricks.
Meowth laughs, "A bunch of dinky little noise makers like dat ain't gonna stop me from grabbin' all the apples I want! This bright red baby's all for me. Down da hatch!"
But before Meowth can take a bite, Jessie smacks him into a bush from behind.
"What's the idea?!" Meowth exclaims.
"Why should you have that apple all to yourself?" Jessie questions.
And James says, "We're a team, and we're supposed to share everything equally, remember?!"
"James and I haven't eaten either, you know. We're starving, too! Hand over that apple, Meowth, and we'll split it fair and square!" Jessie says.
Unknown to Meowth, a pair of light yellow paws come out of the bushes and quietly takes the apple out of Meowth's paw before eating it and putting the core in Meowth's paw.
"Okay, take it easy, I'm a cat type, not a hog type!" Meowth says, and looks to find the apple has already been eaten to to his shock.
Jessie begins shouting at Meowth, "You selfish little glutton!"
"Now what do you have to say?!" James says.
Meowth defends himself, "I didn't eat it, honest!"
But Jessie and James are not believing it, "That's a lie!
The three soon hear rustling and see a figure scurrying about. It leaps from a tree and sets off a noisemaker, prompting Team Rocket to amscray while Mew and the others hear the alarm.
"Those are my noisemakers!" Charmaine says.
Pikachu rushes toward the source in order to catch the culprit as the thief, which turns out to be a Pichu, dashes through the trees along with other Pichu taking apples left and right as Mew and the others give chase.
"Hurry!" Mew calls out.
One Pichu drops its apple while it and its comrades make their escape as the group stops.
Charmaine picks up the apple, "These have the same bite marks on the other apple you showed me."
Pikachu soon runs towards the bushes where the thieves escaped.
Pikachu!" Mew calls out.
The Pichu soon stop, thinking they escaped, but Pikachu darts out and he reprimands them for their actions.
Pikachu sternly says, "Pika Pikachu chu Pikachu Pika Pika. Pikachu!" (Now you should know better than to take other people's apples. Say you're sorry!)
"Pichu." (Sorry.) The three Pichu sadly reply.
Suddenly, another Pichu is heard crying out in distress, prompting the three Pichu and Pikachu to go follow the sound.
In one of the bushes, there are multiple Pichu huddled together, worried and frightened as they look up. The three Pichu that Pikachu caught soon arrive along with Pikachu, and they soon look up and see what has the other Pichu worried, a Fearow circling overhead that Mew, Charmaine, and the others notice.
"That Fearow has its eyes on something and that means trouble!" Charmaine says.
And it's heading in the same direction Pikachu was! Come on, let's go!" Mew says.
Mew and the others hurry down the path and see what Pikachu is heading towards, and find the thieves.
"Oh, my," Charmaine says.
"They're Pichu," Misty says.
"And a lot of them," Jen says.
Mew brings out her Pokedex, and Dexter says, "Pichu, the Tiny Mouse Pokémon. The pre-evolved form of Pikachu. An Electric Type. Despite their size, Pichu release bursts of electricity that can shock even humans. However, Pichu are unskilled at controlling their electricity, and sometimes release it by accident when surprised, or when laughing, and shock themselves."
"So these are the Pokemon that have been stealing all my apples?" Charmaine questions.
"They're cute," Molly says.
Soon, the Fearow dives down at the Pichu.
"The Fearow!" Misty cries out.
The Fearow closes in with open talons, but the three Pichu who were caught jump up to a tree branch and shock the Fearow, but knock themselves out in the process.
"The Pichu stunned Fearow, but they shocked themselves with that attack, too!" Brock says, shocked.
Soon, the Fearow shakes off the shock and dives at the Pichu once more, but Pikachu steps in and forces the Fearow to retreat with an attack of his own.
"Another great job, Pikachu," Mew says.
One of the Pichu on the tree branch notices Pikachu's power and is amazed that he stood up for both Pichu and its fellow Pichu. Soon, Some of the Pichu come out of the bushes carrying a leaf loaded with apples.
"Pichu Pichu." (Here's what we took.) The Pichu says.
They soon hear the Pichu's stomach growling.
"Pika?" (What?) Pikachu replies.
Soon, all the Pichu's stomachs begin to growl.
"I don't think they've eaten for quite a while," Brock says.
"These Pichu must've been taking the fruit so their hungry friends would have something to eat," Tomo says.
"The poor things," Mew says.
Then Charmaine remembers, "Come to think of it, there was a report in the paper that said that wild fruit grown in the forest is a lot lower this year than usual."
Pikachu turns to Charmaine, "Pichu. Pika Pika. (Charmaine. We should let them.)
Charmaine chuckles, "Don't worry." and puts down a whole bunch of apples, "Okay, go ahead! Don't be afraid, they're all for you!"
The Pichu, delighted, run towards the apples and chow down.
Boy, the Pichu really love those apples," Tomo says.
And Charmaine says, "I know they're very hungry, but the problem is that they love the apples so much that they'll never leave the orchard now. They'll eat the apples faster than I can pick them. I can't let that happen."
The Pokemon feel bad for the Pichu.
Just then Mew has an idea," Hey, I know!"
"Pika?" (What's up?) Pikachu questions.
Meanwhile, up above the sky, Team Rocket observes the orchard.
"Look! Them trees is loaded with bright, juicy apples!" Meowth says.
"Yes, and they're all our for the picking. Free food!" Jessie says with a chuckle.
And James says, "We won't have to worry about something to eat for a long, long time."
Soon, a flock of Pidgey flies in and dives down at the trees. Meanwhile, down on the ground.
Mew turns to Pikachu, "Okay, sound the alarm, Pikachu!"
Pikachu says to the Pichu, "Pika! Pikachu! Pika Pikachu!" (Pichu! We've got trouble! Pidgey bombers!)
The Pichu pop out of the trees and shock some of the Pidgey while the others continue down, only for more Pichu to jump on their backs and shock them, too. Ultimately they all fall to the ground, unconscious, while the Pidgey fly away and our heroes get to picking.
Witnessing this, Charmaine says, "Mew was right! The Pichu are doing exactly what he and Pikachu taught them to do!"
"They must be protecting the orchard to pay you back for the fruit," Misty says.
"I think you're right, Misty," Brock agrees.
"Is that it?" Charmaine asks.
Mew nods her head, "That's right, Charmaine! And that's not all they can do!" And turns to Pikachu, "Okay, we're ready for stage two, Pikachu, so show the Pichu what they do next."
"Pika!" (Gotcha!) Pikachu says, runs up the tree and picks an apple.
Pikachu calls out, "Pika Pika?" (Are you watching?)
"Pichu." (We are.) One of the Pichus says.
Pikachu climbs down and puts the apple in a crate, "Pika. Pika Pika Pika!" (And there. Okay, now you try it.)
The lead Pichu agrees and some of the Pichu climb up the tree, pick the apples and drop them, allowing the Pichu on the ground to collect them and put them in the crate.
"They're not only protecting the orchard, Misty, they're helping pick the apples," Brock says.
Misty chuckles, "And just for Charmaine."
"With the Pichu pitching in, I can pick more apples than I ever picked before," Charmaine says.
"Instead of being enemies, Charmaine, you and the Pichu could become partners, just like Pikachu, Eevee, and I are," Mew says.
"Pika Pika." (Absolutely.) Pikachu says.
While the Pichu work, Charmaine comes in with a plate full of treats for them.
She calls out, "Time for a break, everybody! After working so hard, you all must be hungry" and puts the plate down, "So I thought you all might like to relax and snack on some of the apples you've been picking."
The Pichu come in and chow down while our heroes come in to check on them.
Tomo laughs, "The Pichu really love those apples, don't they?"
Suddenly, a large shadow looms overhead.
Charmaine notices, "Look! Something's coming!"
And with that, the Team Rocket motto appears.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble, don't make us be brutal!
James:
And make it double, we want all that fruit...ull...
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie.
James:
James.
Jessie:
Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light.
James:
Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight!
Wobbuffet:
WOBB-UFFET!
(That is right!)
Meowth:
Dat's it, I've had enough of you stealing my line!
Meowth leaps onto Wobbuffet's head and twisting it around until Jessie recalls it.
Mew shouts, "You're wasting your time. You're not getting any of this fruit!"
"That's what you think," Jessie responds.
Then James says, "We're not only going apple picking, but we're also going to pick ourselves a Pikachu and Eevee!
"We're gonna toin dis balloon into a Pikachu fruit basket!" Meowth says.
Charmaine exclaims in shock, "This is even worse than Pokémon poachers!"
"Don't worry, Charmaine, we've had a lot of experience with these three. We'll take care of them," Mew says.
But then, some strange tank with a tube comes out.
But Jessie says, " You may have had experience, twerp, but you haven't experienced anything like our new and improved Team Rocket super-sucker!"
"Go get 'em!" Mew says.
Pikachu and Eevee then leap into battle.
"Here we go!" Meowth says.
With the press of a button, Pikachu is pulled in, but quickly uses his tail to swat Eevee out of arms and into the tree.
"Pikachu!" Mew cries out.
Eevee, who is in the tree, notices, "Eevee!" (Pikachu!)
Pikachu soon hits the nozzle. Pikachu tries to attack, but its power is sucked in.
Meowth laughs triumphantly, "Dis ting sucks up Pikachu's electric attacks and stores all its energy in our battery!"
Jessie and James soon plug multiple plugs into the outlet.
Jessie happily says, "Pikachu's free electricity powers the wonderful appliances that make life worth living."
"Ah! All the comforts of home!" James says, lounging.
And soon, Pikachu finally runs out of energy.
"We have a problem, James. Pikachu's run out of steam," Jessie says.
And James says, "Forget steam, we need more electricity."
But Meowth says, "Don't worry, we got all da powah we need! Our battery's charged up an' ready ta go!"
"Now we're gonna show you how the super-sucker is gonna change Team Rocket's life," Jessie says.
And James says, "That's right, twerps. Instead of blasting off, we'll be sucking up!"
With an evil laugh and the press of a button, multiple hoses come out of the machine.
Meowth laughs, "We've sucked up the power, now it's apple time!"
But before anyone can do anything, the machines start sucking up the apples.
"Hey! Cut it out, Meowth!" Mew shouts.
Even Brock shouts, "You have no right to do this! Our friend work real hard to grow all these apples.
Togepi chirps as Pichu shouts, "Pichu! (You meanies)
Then Misty realizes, "Hey, what about the Pichu?"
Everyone looks and sees the Pichu climbing up the nearest tree.
"The Pichu must want to defend the orchard," Brock says.
This is dangerous. They may not be strong enough to do it," Misty says.
Just then, Misty's Pichu does the same.
Misty cries out, "Pichu!"
Soon, the Pichu, including Misty's Pichu, reach the top of the tree and begin to attack and shock Team Rocket, but wind up knocking themselves out.
"Dem Pichu may be puny Pokémon but together dey pack a pretty powerful punch," Meowth says.
And Jessie says. "Quit babbling and do something to get rid of those rotten runts!"
"Teach them a lesson, then let's go before Pikachu gets his power back!" James says.
"Okay! Dis oughtta blow 'em away!" Meowth says.
With the press of a button, the machine goes in reverse and blows the Pichu out of the tree.
Misty cries out, "Pichu!"
This makes Misty angry, "That does it." but soon notices something.
Everyone looks and see Misty's Pichu, along with the others get up and head back up into the treetops.
"Amazing. They just won't give up," Charmiane says.
"My Pichu refuses to give up either," Misty says.
And cheers, "You can do it Pichu!"
The Pichu soon reach the treetop and start to make a chain to reach Pikachu.
"What are those pesky Pichu up to?" Jessie questions.
One Pichu gets blown away, but is rescued by one of its comrades. Soon, the Pichu chain reaches Pikachu, with Misty's Pichu to grab hold of Pikachu
"Look, they!" James says, surprised.
"They're trying to revive old Pikachu," Meowth says.
And Brock says, "We're in luck! So's Pikachu! Each one of those Pichu is like a little battery, and they're all hooked up to Pikachu!"
"Alright!" Mew cheers.
"Got get em!" Tomo cheers.
Then Misty calls out, "Alright Pichu, you and the others use Thunder Shock, and quick!"
With that, Misty's Pichu, and the others let out Thunder Shock, and it revived Pikachu.
"With all that Pichu juice flowing, Pikachu should be powered back up in no time!" Brock says.
"We'll see!" Charmaine says.
Pikachu cheeks begin to spark as well.
Mew notices, "Guys, look at Pikachu!" and calls out, "Pikachu, use your Thunderbolt!"
The Pichu along with Pikachu have their power sucked into Team Rocket's battery.
Meowth laughs, "Thanks, Pikachu! The more you shock us, the more you charge up our battery!"
Misty calls out, "You can do it, Pichu!"
"Toge Toge!" (Go Pichu!)
Hearing Misty and Togepi, Pichu releases more electricity. And soon, Pichu begins to glow, shocking everyone.
"What's going on?" Tomo asks.
"What's that glow?" Jen asks.
Misty soon realizes, "Brock is that…"
"You're right. Pichu is evolving!" Brock says.
Soon, Misty Pichu's shape changes, and the glow disappears, revealing that Pichu has fully evolved.
Misty happily cheers, "Pichu has evolved into Pikachu!"
"And its tail is in the shape of a heart," Molly says.
"Well, Pichu is a girl after all," Mew says, and looks at her Pokedex, "And it looks like your Pikachu has learned a new move."
Misty looks at the Pokedex and nods.
She then calls out, "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt to give them more power!"
Misty's Pikachu agrees and lets out a Thunderbolt attack. That power begins to overload the battery, causing Team Rocket to panic.
Jessie panics, "James, what's going on?! What's happening?!"
The Pikachu, and Pichu release as much electricity as with all their might. And soon, the needle soon goes over the limit.
Meowth screams, "We stored up too much electricity!"
The battery finally explodes from the overload.
"Our battery pack is destroyed!" Meowth says.
Then James says, "Not only that, but my DVDs are fried."
So is my automatic ice maker," Jessie adds.
Soon, the balloon explodes, causing the apples, Pikachu and the Pichu to fall and sending Team Rocket flying, but not before Pikachu warns the Pichu and Misty's Pikachu to take cover.
Team Rocket cries out, "We're blasting off again!"
"Wooooo!" (WHOOOOOA!) Wobbuffet cries out.
"Pikachu!" (Nice job, gang!) Pikachu says.
Then turns to Misty's newly evolved Pikachu, "Pika Pika," (You were great too.)
"Pikachu," (Thank you.)
Soon, they hear Misty and Mew's voices, "Pikachu!"
Pikachu calls out, "Pika Pi!" (Ash!)
"Pika pi!" (Misty!) Misty's Pichachu.
They turn to see their trainers and friends hurrying towards them.
Charmine is among them, "That was great! Are you all okay?"
The Pichu confirm that they're all safe and sound.
"I don't know how I could ever thank you," Charmaine says.
The Pichu proceeded to climb all over her for a hug.
"Look guys, the Pichu really love Charmaine and Charmaine really loves the Pichu, too," Mew says.
"Lucky Pichu," Brock says.
Then Charmaine says, "I decided that the Pichu and I are gonna be partners from now on."
"Wow! That's a great idea," Misty happily says.
Then turns to Pikachu, "Right, Pikachu."
"Pika Pika!" (You bet!) Pikachu happily says.
Then Charmaine says, "They can help me protect the orchard and I'll let them have all the fruit they want and everybody will be a lot better off."
The Pichu agrees.
"You and the Pichu are gonna be best of friends, Charmaine," Mew says.
"Pika Pika!" (Just like we are!) Pikachu says.
The Pichu begin to celebrate.
Then Brock says, "I have a feeling that from now on, this is gonna be just about the sunniest apple orchard in the whole world."
Later that evening, Mew and her friends bid Charmaine and the Pichu farewell.
"Thanks again, Charmaine!" Mew says.
"Pikachu!" (Goodbye, Pichu!) Pikachu says.
Misty's Pikachu says, "Pika Pika!" (Bye everyone!)
The Pichu bid the group farewell.
Soon, Mew and her friends take their leave. Despite them having a rocky start, Charmaine and the Pichu have become good friends, and they work together to work on and protect the orchard.
Misty then turns to her Pikachu, "So Pikachu, I think it will be a good idea to give you a name."
"Pika Pika," (Good idea.) Misty's Pikachu says.
Misty thinks a bit and says, "Hmm… I think I'll call you… Sparkle."
"Pika Pika," (I love it.) Misty's Pikachu, Sparkle happily says.
