Episode 69: Houndoon's Special Delivery
Mew, Misty, Brock, Tomo, Jen, Molly and their Pokemon friends continue on the road across the Johto Region and to the next Pokemon Gym. They continue their travels through serious mountains.
Seeing the scenery, Brock says, "That's a really beautiful sight, isn't it, guys? The scenery around here is picture perfect."
"It's like a postcard," Misty says.
"Yeah, and it's so quiet and peaceful here, too," Mew says.
The Pokemon happily agree. Suddenly, everyone hears something and turns their heads to see a Pokemon running down a path.
It's a quadrupedal, canine Pokémon with black fur, a long orange snout, and an orange underbelly. It has small red eyes and a black nose. Around its neck is a white band with a small skull-shaped pendant on its throat. There are two white bands on each of its ankles, as well as three rib-like ridges on its back. It has a long, skinny tail with a triangular tip and three clawed toes on each paw. Atop its head is a pair of long, curved gray horns.
"Is that a Pokemon?" Molly asks.
"I think it is," Jen says.
"I think it's a Houndoom," Mew says, and brings out her Pokedex.
Dexter says, "Houndoom, the Dark Pokémon on. The evolved form of Houndour. A Dark and Fire Type. Houndoom's eerie howl is said to cause those who hear it to shudder in fear.
"Guess a scary Pokemon needs a scary howl," Tomo replies.
And Brock says, "This Houndoom must belong to somebody, Tomo, because it's carrying some kind of bag on its back."
"It looks like it's delivering something to somebody," Mew says.
"I sure wouldn't like to be the one to get that delivery," Misty says
Meanwhile, Team Rocket flies through the mountain range.
Jessie sighs, "Just listen to that sweet mountain song."
"Just feel the free, fresh mountain air as it rushes through your hair," James says.
"Just tink... We made tree cups of tea from only one teabag," Meowth says.
All three are enjoying their tea.
Until Jessie realizes something, "What's the matter with us?! This has to stop! It's all wrong!"
"What's wrong?" James asks.
Meowth: You don't like my tea?" Meowth questions.
Jessie angrily says, "This is no time for sipping and drifting and dreaming! We're acting like a bunch of pink-slip dot-com slackers!
Both James and Meowth quickly realize that Jessie is right.
"You're absolutely right! We've been totally ignoring our Team Rocket responsibilities!" James cries out.
And Meowth says, "Da boss sent us to bring back some rare and valuable Pokémon, and we're gonna do it one a' dese years!"
And James soon spots familiar faces through the binoculars, "Oh! Luck has struck! It's the twerp and her Pikachu and Eevee!"
"Let's keep it simple this time. Just take one Pokémon at a time," Jessie happily says.
Meowth also says, "Nuttin' fancy, just a tried-and-true sneak attack."
Meanwhile, Mew and her friends continue to walk along the mountain.
"We must be up pretty high, my ears just popped," Misty says.
"Mine too," Molly replies.
"Yeah, we've been climbing quite a while," Brock says.
"I can't wait to see what the view's like at the top," Tomo says.
"I love to see it too," Mew says.
"Me three," Jen says.
Suddenly, they hear familiar laughter.
"What was that?!" Tomo asks.
Mew sighs, "I know though laughters anywhere."
And Mew is right, Team Rocket's balloon floats up into their view along with the owners. And Team Rocket performs the motto.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble, today we will triumph!
James:
And make it double, with your umph and my umph!
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie.
James:
James.
Jessie:
We're Team Rocket, blasting off at the speed of light.
James:
Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight, fight!
Wobbuffet:
WOBBUH...
(That is...)
Meowth:
Meowth, dat's right!
"It's Team Rocket!" The group calls out.
What do you losers want this time?!" Misty demands.
"We're getting back to basics, red!" Meowth says.
"Today, we're finally going to capture that Pikachu and Eevee!" Jessie says.
"Wobb-uffet!" (That is right.) Wobbuffet says.
James calls out his Pokemon, "Weezing, I choose you!"
Weezing comes out of the Pokeball.
Then James calls out, "Weezing, use your Smokescreen attack!"
Weezing launches the attack, blinding everyone with the smoke.
Then Jessie calls out, "Right, Arbok, now's our chance! Go get Pikachu!"
Arbok charges in.
"We gotta act fast, Pikachu!" Mew says.
Pikachu leaps in for the attack.
Mew calls out, "Use your Thunderbolt attack and hurry!"
Pikachu launches the attack and sends Arbok flying back to Team Rocket's balloon. Meanwhile, Misty is lost in the smoke while Pikachu cries.
Misty calls out, "Guys, where are you?! I can't see in this smoke!"
Misty suddenly trips on a rock and drops Togepi
Togpei cries out, "To-Ge-Prrrriiii!" (Oh, my, gosh!)
"Ah! Togepi!" Misty cries out, "Togepi, Where are you?! Togepi!"
"Pi Pi Pi!" (Togepi!) Sparkle the Pikachu cries out.
Togepi soon rolls out of the smoke and right in front of Weezing. Soon, Togepi moves his hands back and forth and uses Metronome that turns into Teleport, and teleports away. And moments later, Togepi ends up in a tree. Togepi soon looks down to notice he is in a high spot.
Togepi cries in a panic and grabs onto the tree in fear, "Toge-Toge piiii!" (Someone help!)
Meanwhile, back at the battle…
James calls out, "Weezing, use Tackle attack!"
Weezing closes in for the attack.
Mew calls out, "Go, Pikachu! Tackle attack right back!"
Pikachu charges in and nails Weezing, sending it right back into Team Rocket's balloon.
Mew throws her Pokeball and calls out, "Chikorita, I choose you!"
Chikortia comes out of the Pokeball.
Mew calls out, "Okay, Chikorita, aim a Razor Leaf attack right at that balloon!"
Chikorita uses Razor Leaf at the Balloon, and punctures the balloon, sending Team Rocket flying.
Jessie says, "Failed again."
"Foiled again," James says.
"Wobbu, Wobbu." (Here we, go again.) Wobbuffet says.
And Meowth says, "Our simple plan is spoiled again."
"Woooobbuffet!" (All too true!) Wobbuffet says.
Team Rocket cries out, "We're blasting off like always!"
"Woooobbuffet!" (That is right!) Wobbuffet cries out.
And are soon gone.
Misty continues searching around, "Togepi! Togepi, can you hear me?!"
"Pi pi pi!" (Togepi!) Sparkle calls out.
"What's wrong?" Mew asks.
"Togepi?" Tomo asks.
"What do you mean? Where's Togepi?" Brock asks.
"I don't know, it just disappeared," Misty says, frightened.
"What?" Tomo asks, shocked.
"Togepi's gone?!" Jen asks, frightened.
"That's impossible!" Brock says.
"Togepi, answer me! Come back! Misty calls out.
Mew calls out, "Togepi.
"Togepi!" Tomo calls out.
Pikachu and Sparkle call out, "Pi-Pi-Pi! (Togepi!)
Everyone continues to call out for Togepi, but aren't aware that Togepi has teleported himself away from the others.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the mountain, the Houndoom comes trudging through the forest when it hears a cry for help.
"Heru?" (Huh?) Houndoom question.
And looks up to see Togepi up in a tree as the poor baby Pokemon cries out, "Piiiii! Toge? Toge Toge Piiiii! (Help me! Someone's come to save me!)
Houndoom is shocked to see the baby Pokemon in trouble.
Hounddoom calls out, "Heru, Heru." (Hmmm, hang on.)
The Houndoom hop on each branch until he reaches where Togepi is. Seeing the rescuer, Togepi is pleased, and Houndoom helps Togepi on his back. Then Houndoom jumps back down to the ground and places Togepi on the ground floor.
Togepi is grateful, "Toge-Toge Piiii!" (You saved me!)
"Heru." (Stay safe.) Houndoom says, and about to leave.
But Togepi calls out, "Toge-Toge Piiii!" (Wait, please don't go!)
"Heru?" (Huh?) Houndoom question.
Togepi cries out.
Togepi begins to cry.
"Heru." (Hey, don't cry. Here.) Houndoom says and spots an apple in the tree.
The Houndoom manages to shoot it down with an Ember attack and gives it to Togepi.
Togepi happily says, "Piii!" (Oh, apple!)
Houndoom tries to return to its delivery, but looks back when Togepi calls for help again, this time when a Pinsir comes in to try and take Togepi's apple. Houndoom quickly comes to the rescue, but Pinsir isn't so easily deterred, that is until Houndoom uses another Ember and scares the Pinsir off. Togepi thanks it before it runs off, Togepi tries to flag it down, but it ducks into some bushes to hide. Togepi then trips and drops the apple it was carrying before crying again, prompting Houndoom to return the apple to Togepi before putting it on its back and rushing off to continue its delivery and get Togepi to safety.
Meanwhile, Mew and the others continue to search for Togepi as they call out to the little Spike Egg Pokemon.
Misty calls out, "Answer me, Togepi! Togepi?! This is bad, we've been looking for an hour."
"I know Togepi likes to wander off, but usually we find it right away," Tomo says.
"Loetta," (I know.) Meloetta says.
Then Brock says, "Tomo, Togepi's so little, there's no way it could've gotten so far away from us all by itself."
"Brock's right. Maybe some wild Pokemon picked up Togepi and carried it off somewhere into the woods!" Misty says.
And cries out, "Togepi!"
"Misty, let's stay calm," Brock says.
"Don't worry, we'll find Togepi," Molly says.
"Maybe we'll have better luck if we do what everyone else is doing and look for Togepi from the sky," Mew says, and gets out her Pokeballs.
She then calls out, "Noctowl, Aerodactyl, Chatot, I choose you!
"Good idea, Mew! I'll help, too!" Brock says.
Then calls out, "Golbat, I choose you!" Brock says.
And Golbat comes out.
Then Tomo and Jen call out, "Mandibuzz/Braviary! I choose you!"
And both Mandibuzz and Hisuian Braviary come out.
"Okay, guys, we gotta find Togepi! Split up and report back in half an hour!" Mew calls out.
The Pokemon agree and set out to search.
Meanwhile, Houndoom and Togepi come to a river)
Hounddoom says to Togepi, "Herru." (Okay. Sit tight.)
Togepi agrees as Houndoom leaps from rock to rock. They suddenly stop when a Gyarados leaps over them, ultimately sending them into the river. Houndoom manages to get them both to safety before collapsing from exhaustion, while Togepi goes wandering up a mountain? After one pebble comes loose, Houndoom notices Togepi up on the mountainside before it slips and slides down.
Houndoom soon rushes in and puts Togepi on its head to stop its slide before leaping up the mountain and all the way to the top. They both look and find a massive field of flowers and several bug Pokemon, including Ledyba, Ledian and Butterfree, flying about while some Bellossom dance among the flowers. Togepi soon joins them, though Houndoom advises otherwise, until the Bellossom tosses Togepi right onto the flower petals of a Venusaur. Venasaur gets up, sort of drowsy, and then sneezes Sleep Powder, prompting Houndoom to take the accidental attack while the Venusaur yawns and walks away as Houndoom falls asleep.
Meanwhile, Noctowl and Hisuian Braviary continue scanning the skies for signs of Togepi. Just then, they appear to have found something. The two Pokemon fly down as they inform the trainers.
"How'd it go, Noctowl? Braviary? Did you find anything?" Mew asks.
The two Pokemon point down to the ground to see Pokemon footprints.
Brock recognizes it, "Look! Those must be Togepi's footprints!"
"And if we follow them, they'll lead right to Togepi!" Misty says.
"Yeah, they should be pretty easy," Tomo says.
Soon, Pikachu, Eevee, and Sparkle notice another set of footprints near Togepi's.
"Look! There's another set of footprints, too!" Mew says.
"Judging by the size, it must be something pretty big," Brock says.
Then Jen notices, "Look! Togepi's footprints disappear, but the others don't."
"Whatever left these footprints must've carried Togepi away with it," Brock suspects.
Misty gasps in horror, "Togepi! My poor, sweet, helpless, little Togepi!"
"Let's not jump to conclusions," Mew says.
She kneels down to check the footprints, "Hmm, from the size of the paws and the distance they have. Hmmm…"
"What is it?" Molly asks.
"I think these are Houndoom prints," Mew says.
The group is shocked to hear it.
"Is it possible that the prints were from the Houndoom we saw before?" Molly asks.
"It's possible. It's best to follow the prints and see where they lead," Mew says.
And with that, everyone follows the prints.
Meanwhile, Togepi manages to wake up Houndoom. Togepi tries to get onto Houndoom's back, but trips, prompting the Bellossom to help it up before Houndoom takes off while the Bellossom wave goodbye.
Soon, everyone reaches the river.
"The prints end here. They must've crossed," Mew says.
"The current seems pretty strong, we better look for a bridge," Brock says.
But Misty says, "We don't have any time to waste, I say we take our chances."
"Let's go," Mew says.
The group soon hop across the rocks when Mew stops as a Gyarados leaps in front of her.
"That was a Gyarados!" Tomo says.
"That looked like a small one," Brock says.
"You're right. Maybe its parents are swimming someplace nearby," Mew says.
But Misty says, "Don't have time to find out, let's keep going."
The group makes it across and soon sees the footprints.
"Look, guys. Togepi must've started walking again," Misty says.
"Togepi and whatever it's with, Houndoom or not, headed straight for that mountain," Brock says.
"I don't think Togepi could've climbed that thing all by itself," Tomo says.
"You're right. It's possible the Houndoom may still be with him."
Misty runs ahead, "Togepi!"
Misty, wait!" Brock calls out.
"Slow down, Misty!" Mew calls out.
Everyone rushes to catch up with Misty and they soon reach the top of the mountain and the flower field.
"Wow! It's a whole field of flowers!" Molly happily says.
"This place must be like paradise for all these grass and bug type Pokemon," Brock says.
Misty calls out, "Togepi! Are you out there?! Can you hear me, Togepi?! Togepi?!"
Meanwhile, up in the sky above.
Jessie shouts, "I'm sick of this humiliation! Next time we come across those twerps, we're going to win and they're going to lose!"
But Meowth notices something, "Say, speaking of losing, our balloon seems to be losing altitude."
"I wonder what could be the matter," James says.
The three look up and see air leaking out of the hole they patched up from the battle.
"Look! The air's leaking out of the hole we patched up!" Meowth cries out.
"We're falling fast!" James panics.
"We have to do something! We're headed for disaster!" Jessie cries out.
"Woooobbuffet!" (You said it!) Wobbuffet agrees.
Jessie scolds Wobbuffet, "We don't need another disaster!"
"Can't you see that we're about to crash?!" James says.
"Wobbu!" (I didn't think about that!) Wobbuffet says.
Suddenly, Meowth cries out, "Hey, guys! Splashdown time!
The balloon heads down towards the water, but unknown to Team Rocket, they lightly bounce off of a Gyarados' head and land along the riverbank.
Jessie says in relief, "We must've skipped off the surface, James, just like a stone."
Skipping like a stone is a whole lot better than sinking like one, Jessie," James says.
But Meowth freaks out and says, "Don't look now, but I think we're sunk anyways."
Jessie and James: Huh?" James and Jessie reply, confused.
Wobbuffet cries out, Wobbu, Wobb! (Gyarados!)
Right on cue, Team Rocket is facing down an angry Gyarados with a lump on its head from where the balloon hit it. The angry Pokémon fires a Hydro Pump and sends Team Rocket flying.
"Team Rocket's splashing off again!" Team Rocker cries out
Meanwhile, Houndoom and Togepi are seen crossing a gorge on a log as they continue to travel along the path. Soon, it starts to rain, prompting them to take shelter. Once the rain stops and mist fills the air where they stopped, they both look and see a mysterious Pokemon hiding in the bushes that lets out electricity before it jumps away. Togepi and Houndoom are astonished to see it. And soon, the rain ends and the sun comes back out. Then the pair start traveling again, and find an open valley that sparkles dew drops from the rain.
Meanwhile, Mew and the others are still on the search for Togepi.
"Togepi?! Where are you?!" Misty calls out.
"Togepi?!" Tomo calls out.
"Where are you?!" Molly calls out.
"It's gonna be a lot harder to follow Togepi's trail now that the rain washed away those footprints," Brock says.
"Footprints or not, we gotta keep looking till we find Togepi," Mew says.
"Eevee Eevee!" (We just gotta.) Eevee says.
Misty grows worried, "What am I gonna do if I never find Togepi?"
Sparkle nuzzles Misty's cheek," Pika Pika Pikachu." (Don't worry, we'll find him." And nuzzles her cheek some more.
That cheers Misty up a little, "Thanks Sparkle."
Mew brings out her Pokeball, "We can't think that way, Misty. Now, we lost the trail down here, but maybe Noctowl can…"
But then Pikachu and Eevee leap off her shoulders and senses something.
"Hey! What's the matter, guys?" Mew calls out.
Soon, Pikachu and Eevee find more footprints.
Pikachu calls out, "Pika Pika." (Found some more tracks.)
Everyone looks to see more footprints.
"Hey!" Tomo calls out.
"Togepi's footprints!" Tomo says.
"Good work, guys! You're the best!" Mew says.
Then Misty notices, "Look! That Houndoom's footprints are there, too."
"So they stayed together after all," Jen says.
Brock soon notices, "The first set of tracks leads to the tree, so Togepi and the other Pokemon must've stayed here during the rainstorm. Then when the rain stopped, they went on their way."
"The rain only stopped a little a while ago, and the tracks look fresh," Misty says.
Come on! They must be nearby!" Mew says.
"Right!" Everyone agrees.
Soon, everyone rushes ahead.
Meanwhile, Houndoom notices Togepi has fallen asleep and decides to walk the rest of the way until Togepi wakes up. Finally, Houndoom reaches its destination, a farm with a corral full of Mareep and lightly barks to inform its owner, the farmer, that it has arrived.
The farmer notices Houndoom, "Ah, there you are. You had me worried. What took you so long, old friend?"
Houndoom shows the farmer Togepi.
"Well, I see you picked yourself up a passenger along the way," The farmer says.
Suddenly, Misty's voice calls out, "There's Togepi!
The two turn their heads to see Mew and the others as they rush to see Togepi on Houndoom's back.
"Hey!" Tomo calls out.
Togepi!" Brock calls out.
The farmer and Houndoom approach.
Misty rushes to see her little Pokemon, "There's my Togepi! Thank goodness it's all right."
"Misty, Togepi's so all right that it didn't even miss its afternoon nap!" Mew says.
"Wish I could've stayed that relaxed through all this excitement," Brock says.
"Poor little Togepi, it must be worn out from everything that's gone on today," Misty says.
Then the Mareep farmer asks, "So, do this Pokémon belong to you, miss?"
"Yeah, we got separated coming over the mountain," Tomo says.
"And I imagine my faithful friend didn't want to leave it alone, so it brought your Togepi back here," The farmer says.
Misty turns to Houndoom and says, "Thank you for finding Togepi. And thanks for keeping it safe, Houndoom."
Houndoom responds with a smile. And soon,Togepi wakes up from his nap.
Misty smiles and says, "Hello there. Remember me?"
Seeing his mommy, Togepi happily leaps into Misty's arms.
Misty then gives Togepi a hug, "Togepi! I'm so sorry we got separated. I'll be much more careful from now on. Please forgive me."
As Misty hugs her long lost Pokémon, Team Rocket drifts by with hungry eyes
"Great! Not only have we found Pikachu and Eevee, but a whole flock of Mareep, too," Jessie says.
"I love Mareep because they aren't too wild, but they're extraordinarily woolly!" James says.
Then Jessie says, "Meowth, what's that frighteningly rare-looking Pokémon?"
"Dat's a Houndoom. Okay. Today, team, we're gonna catch 'em all!" Meowth says.
Meanwhile, Houndoom's owner takes out what it was carrying in the sack, which was some clippers.
"This is what I've been waiting for. See, I sent Houndoom to town to pick me up some clippers so I can sheer the Mareep," The farmer says, and turns to his Pokemon, "Thanks a lot, Doomy. Good work."
And Houndoom responds.
Just then, Team Rocket strikes, capturing Houndoom in a net and pulls it up.
"Hey! What in the?!" The farmer asks in shock.
Team Rocket laughs.
"Didn't think we'd be back so soon, did you?" Jessie says.
We may be losers, but we're certainly not quitters!" James says.
And Meowth says, "Our balloon's patched up, and we're ready to rob!"
"Wooooobbuffet! (That is right!) Wobbuffet says.
"Alright, if it's a fight you want, you got one!" Mew shouts.
Pikachu calls out, "Pika!" (Bring it!)
"We've already got one Pokemon, let's go for two, shall we?" Jessie says.
"Wobb-uffet!" (I agree!) Wobbuffet calls out.
Mareep Farmer calls out, "Doomy!"
"Don't worry, we're not gonna let them get away with your Houndoom!" Mew says.
Just then, Togepi jumps out of Misty's arms.
"Togepi!" Misty calls out.
Togepi rushes over before coming to a stop, and begins to move his hands from side to side. Then his little paws glow.
"Togepi is using Metronome again!" Tomo says.
"What's going to happen?" Misty questions.
Just then, Togepi unleashes Razor Leaf and it cuts Houndoom free.
Misty cheers, "Go Togepi!"
On the balloon, Jessie says, "Bye, Houndoom. It was nice stealing you."
"Wooooobbuffet! ("This is bad!) Wobbuffet says.
Then Jessie calls out, "Go, Arbok!"
Arbok comes out of the Pokeball.
James does the same, "Victreebel, come out and let's face the enemy!"
Victreebel comes out of the Pokeball, but tries to eat James instead.
James cries out, "Wait! Stop! That's MY face!"
"Wobb-uffet. (Embarrassing.) Wobbuffet says.
Misty cries out, "Togepi!"
Sparkle then leaps into action.
Jessie calls out, "Arbok, use Poison Sting and hurry!"
"Dodge it, Sparkle!" Mew calls out.
Sparkle does so as Victreebel lands in front of Togepi and leaps in to attack. Misty rushes to Togpei and hugs him to protect him.
Then the Farmer calls out, "Go get em!"
Houndoom jumps in and headbutts Victreebel hard enough to send it flying into Team Rocket's balloon.
Then Misty calls out, "Sparkle, give Arbok a Thunderbolt!"
Sparkle gives Arbok an electric shock and sends it flying into the balloon as well.
Then the farmer calls out, "Houndoom use your Flamethrower!"
Houndoom launches the attack, and it completely destroying the balloon and sending Team Rocket flying
Jessie, James and Meowth cry out, "Aah! We give up!"
"Wooooobbuffet!" (We surrender!) Wobbuffet cries out.
"Bye-Bye now!" Misty calls out.
"Toge-Togepriii!" (That'll show those three!) Misty says.
Later that evening, the farmer and Houndoom are showing our heroes the way to Ecruteak City.
"This road will take you where you want to go, everyone. Just follow the path and it will lead you to Purity Canyon, and beyond that is Ecruteak City," The farmer says.
"Thanks for all your help, sir, and we're really grateful to your Houndoom for finding Togepi," Brock says.
"Good luck with sheering all those Mareep," Mew says
"It's time, Togepi. We have to leave, so let's say goodbye to Houndoom," Misty says.
"Toge. (Okay.) Togepi says.
Houndoom says, "Heru, Heru." (Take care, Togepi.)
"Toge-Toge." (Okay, Houndoom.) Togepi says.
Soon, Mew and her friends begin to depart and bid the farmer and Houndoom farewell.
"Take care of yourselves, now," The farmer says,
Soon, Togepi begins to struggle, "Toge? To-Toge-Prrrrrriiiii!"
"What's the matter Togepi? We gotta get going…" Misty asks, "Ah!"
Togepi then jumps out from Misty's arms and runs to Houndoom,
She hugs Houndoom by the leg and says, "Toge priiii!" (Goodbye Houndoom!)
"Herru Heru," (Goodbye Togepi,) Houndoon says,
Houndoom gives Togepi a lick and says, "Heru, Heru." (We'll meet again, someday.)
Togepi happily chirps as he says his last goodbye before returning to Misty. Misty picks up Togepi and is glad the little guy is growing up a little bit at a time. And with that, Mew and her friends continue on their journey to Ecruteak City for Mew's next gym battle.
