Episode 70: A Ghost of a Chance!
Mew and her friends are walking down the road, and soon see their destination.
"We're finally here!" Mew happily says.
Even the Pokemon happily say, (We made it!)
"I can't believe it," Misty says.
Over the horizon they see Ecruteak City, home of the fourth Johto League gym. Mew and her friends have minimally made it at last.
Brock soon notices, "That's the Bell Tower. It's a famous Ecruteak City landmark. The Ecruteak City gym should be pretty close by there.
"It looks amazing," Tomo says.
"Come on guys, let's go," Mew says.
And with that, Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee run ahead.
Misty smiles and says, "I don't blame Mew for being excited."
"Her fourth Johto badges are just a match away," Brock says.
And with that, the others follow Mew to the town.
Arriving in the city, Mew and her friends look at the structure of the town.
"This place is a lot older than I thought it would be," Misty says
"The book says Ecruteak City is deep in history and tradition," Brock says.
"Kind of reminds me of Husi Island in the Orange Island," Tomo says.
Suddenly, a blast of fire stops them in their tracks.
And a pink and blue dressed clown comes over, "I'm just the guy you're lookin' for."
"Who are you?" Misty asks.
"I'm Infernando, the fire-breathing clown and street performer extraordinaire," The clown says, and demonstrates his talent, "I summize that you lot are visitors to our town."
"How could you tell that?"
Well, if you lived here, you wouldn't be carrying that guidebook," Infernando says.
Infernando demonstrates his talent again, causing the group to duck their heads.
"Hey, cool it with the fire, will ya?" Misty shouts.
And then Infernando says, "Let me show you something you ain't gonna find in no guidebook." Then Infernando brings out a strange machine, "It's the last one I've got left."
Misty chuckles, "I should've figured you were some kind of salesman."
"What is that thing?" Tomo asks.
Infernando explains, "Exactly, only modified. This here's a treasure detector. Ecruteak's an ancient city, and there are all kinds of historical junk buried subcutaneously. All you gotta do is grab these rods and walk around until you hear the beep beep beep, which means you're standing directly over something that's valuable!"
"Really?" Misty asks
"For real?!" Jen asks.
"Cross my heart and hope to... Hey! Why don't you buy em and try em yourself, kid?" Infernando says.
"This sounds like a ripoff to me," Tomo says, and walks away.
"No thank you," Mew says as she and the others follow Tomo.
"Let's just get to the gym," Misty says.
Everyone else, save for Brock, follows behind.
" The gym?" Infernando questions, and realizes something, "That's what I forgot! The gym's the perfect place to use the treasure detector, it's built on the oldest spot in the whole city!" And turns to Brock, "How about a demonstration?"
"Sure, but only if you think you can use that thing to find me a girlfriend," Brock says.
But Misty then grabs Brock's ear, "He's a clown, not a magician." and pulls Brock away.
Infernando soon follows before stopping, "Come and see after you're through at the gym, folks!"
Meanwhile, at the fountain in the park, Team Rocket sits looking.
"We trailed them twoips all the way here and then lost them," Meowth says.
Jessie asks, "How are we ever gonna steal that Pikachu and Eevee if we don't know where they are?"
James chuckles.
"What are you laughing about, James?" James asks.
"You've obviously overlooked the obvious," James says, "If experience taught us anything about those kids, we know the first place they're going to stop, is at the Johto League gym!"
"Wobbuffet!" (Exactly!) Wobbuffet says, coming out.
"A Johto League gym here?" Jessie questions
"The Ecruteak City gym in the heart of town," James says.
Then Meowth asks, "How about something to stomach ame?"
"I'm hungry, too," Jessie says, "We should eat something. But who knows if there's anything good to eat around here."
"Wobb-uffet!" (A good point.) Wobbuffet says.
"Ecruteak City's food is excellent!" James says.
"Really?" Jessie asks.
Then Meowth asks, "What's their specialty, Jimmy?
"Pizza, funnel cakes, sushi…" James names.
And James hands her coin purse to James, "Here. Go and buy us a nice lunch, James. We'll stay here."
"Why just me? Aren't you coming?" James asks.
"We gotta consoive our energy," Meowth says.
"We're both too hungry to look for food," Jessie says.
"I'll be back in three shakes of a chocolate shake!" James says.
Meanwhile, Mew and her friends have reached the gym.
"Well, guys, this is the Ecruteak City gym," Brock says.
"It is?" Tomo asks.
"It sure looks different from all the other gyms we've been to," Misty says.
"It sure it," Mew says.
Meanwhile, James is looking out for lunch.
He looks around as he says, "Let's see. There must be some place fast and cheap." and is startled by the sudden fire burst.
And then, Infernando shows up, "I'm just the guy you're looking for!"
"I'm not looking for any guy!" James says.
"Then you must be looking for a little buried treasure!" Infernando says and breaths more fire, "This is your lucky day, my blue-haired friend. This little device is guaranteed to detect buried treasure."
James is intrigued by the technically supped up divining rods, and later...
"WHAT?!" Jessie exclaims, "We sent you to get something to eat, not to get cheated!"
"What is dat ting anyway?!" Meowth asks
"This is a treasure detector!" James says, presenting the device.
Jessie angrily says, "Give me the money and I'll get lunch myself!"
But James says, "Jessie, I spent all the money on this."
Jessie and Meowth smack James as punishment.
Meowth feels his stomach growling, "I gotta get some grub!"
"Don't worry!" James reassures, "All we have to do is use the treasure detector to lead us to all sorts of valuable treasure! Then we'll sell the treasure and buy all the food we want! You'll see." And activates the machine, "The salesman said this place was crawling with treasure." And soon, the rods separate, "See? It's detecting something already! Now I'll simply dig it up!" James starts digging and soon hits something, intriguing Meowth and James as well as himself.
"Let me see!" Meowth says.
And Jessie says, "Maybe it's gold!"
"Take a look, Jessie," Meowth says, and take out the object.
However, their excitement turns to disappointment, "It's just a doity old bottle cap."
James soon takes the cap, "Wait! This cap is from a nine and a half ounce cola bottle that was discontinued 25 years ago! This is, an amazing discovery! Thanks to you, good old treasure detector. And thanks to the good old city of Ecruteak. Now, let's see what else we can dig up!
James walks away as Jessie and Meowth stand with agap mouths.
"I wish he'd use that thing to dig up some pizza," Jessie says, and lets out a sign.
Meowth also sighs, "Or, at least, an anchovy.
Meanwhile, Mew and her friends are near the 'gym', but it's revealed to be a giant half destroyed tower.
"That's it? That's the gym?" Misty asks.
"According to the Pokémon Guidebook, it is," Brock says.
"It kind of looks like the Bell Tower," Molly says.
"Let's go inside and check it out," Mw says.
Soon, everyone enters the building.
"The whole place is burned out," Tomo says.
"Maybe it just happened recently," Misty replies.
But examining the burn marks, Brock says, "I'd say this place has been like this for a long time."
"What do you mean?" Jen asks
""Well, these burns look old," Brock says.
Mew looks at the marks and says, "You're right. These marks look very old. It's possible the tower burned down years ago. Maybe even longer."
Suddenly, something darts behind them, though Pikachu senses it.
Pikachu turns around, "Pika?" (What was...?)
"What is it, Pikachu?" Mew asks
"Pika Pika," (I thought I sensed something.) Pikachu says.
Mew looks around and says, "Huh, I don't see anything."
Soon, Tomo notices a staircase, "Let's check over here."
And with that, the group walks down the stairs. They don't seem to see anything here.
"There doesn't seem to be anything here," Mew says.
"Yeah. Maybe the gym isn't even here," Jen replies.
Just then, fire begins to spread around their location.
"Fire!" Misty cries out.
"Where did that come from?!" Tomo exclaims.
"Come on, let's go!" Brock says.
"We gotta get out before the whole place goes up!" Mew says.
And with that, everyone begins to head towards the stairs. Suddenly, Mew trips and falls to the ground. She soon sits up and notices something off. She notices her hand in the fire, but is not burning.
"What?" Mew says, confused.
Mew touches the fire, and nothing happens.
Mew calls out, "Guys, check it out."
Everyone turns to see Mew has her hand in the fire, making everyone confused.
Misty touches the fire herself, "The fire isn't hot!
Brock feels the female, "It isn't even warm!"
"This is all an illusion?!" Jen asks.
"This is a job for Noctowl! " Mew says, and calls out her Pokemon, "Go, Noctowl!"
Noctowl comes out of the Pokeball.
Mew calls out, "Noctowl, use your Foresight!"
Noctowl does so, revealing that the flames are really wild Gastly.
"Look, guys! Gastly!" Tomo says.
"They're the ones creating the fire illusion!" Brock says.
"But why?" Molly asks.
Mew walks over and asks, "Excuse me, please?"
One of the Gastly floats to Mew.
Mew asks, "Why did you create an illusion of a fire?"
"Gastly Gastly Gastly. Gastly Gastly," (This is our home, and you're trespassing. We did it to scare you away) One Gastly says.
Another floats over and asks, "Gastly Gastly Gastly?" (Can you understand us?)
"Yes. Quite well, and I was told your reason. Sorry about trespassing at your home. We thought this is the Pokemon Gym," Mew says.
"So what did they say?" Misty asks.
"Apparently, this is your home, and they created the illusion to scare us away," Mew says.
"That make sense," Misty says.
"So we're trespassing at their home," Brock says.
Just then, multiple Haunter show up
"Haunter," Misty says, nervously.
One Haunter floats to Mew and says, "Haunt Haunter Haunt Hunter," (You seem like a nice girl, and your friends don't seem to mean any harm.)
"Thank you. Again, we're sorry for trespassing at your home, we were trying to find the Ecruteak Gym," Mew says.
Soon Gastly says, "Gastly Gastly Gastly." (So you're here to battle Morty?)
"Haunt Haunt Haunt Hanter Haunter Haunt" (He's the Ecruteak Gym Leader that specializes in Ghost Type. He comes here from time to time to visit us, and is a tough trainer.) A Haunter says.
"Sounds like Morty a touch gym leader," Mew says.
The Gastly and Haunter nod happily in reply.
Then the Gastly says, "Gastly Gastly Gastly." (I'm sure Morty would like to battle, but this isn't the Ecruteak Gym.)
"It's not?" Mew asks.
"Haunter Haunter Haunter Haunt Haunter," (No. This is actually the Brass Tower. Morty can explain it to you,) The Haunter says.
"What did Haunter say?" Molly asks.
"Apparently this isn't the Ecruteak Gym. According to them, this is actually the Old Bell Tower before the new tower was built. And said Morty can explain it to us," Mew says.
Suddenly, someone says, "The young trainer speaks the truth. I can tell."
Everyone turns their heads in confusion, and soon they see a Gengar appearing before their eyes, surprising them. Then coming down the stairs is a young man with blonde hair, wearing a light blue and yellow shirt with a blue headband.
Then the man says, "Please understand these Pokémon are not trying to harm you. They're only trying to defend themselves against your intrusion. I know them well.
"I'm guessing you're Morty?" Mew asks.
With a wave of his hands, the ghost Pokémon disappears.
The man walks down the stairs and says, "Yes. My name is Morty. I'm the Ecruteak gym leader."
Everyone is surprised.
"You're the Ecruteak gym leader?" Brock asks.
"That's a shock," Tomo says.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Mew from Pallet Town and I challenge you to a battle," Mew says.
Morty says, "I'll be happy to do battle with you, boys, but this isn't the place to do it. Many trainers come here thinking this is the Ecruteak gym, but it's not."
"Yeah. We were told about that," Mew says.
"Whoops," Molly says.
"So what is the Bell Tower?" Molly asks.
Morty explains, "Once it was a place of brightness and hope, now it's a place of darkness. That's why so many wild ghost Pokemon have come to live here."
"That makes sense," Molly says.
Mew soon looks to see an old picture on the wall, shocking Mew. Pikachu and Eevee become shocked to see the photo.
Mew walks towards the picture and asks, "What's this?"
"That's a Ho-Oh. One of the ancient, legendary Pokémon," Morty says.
Mew looks at the photo with Pikachu and Eevee. And soon, they realize the picture.
"That's it! I've seen that Pokemon before!" Mew says.
Mew, Piakchu, and Eevee remember the day they saw it. The first day they left on their journey.
But Morty says, I doubt it. You must've seen some other Pokémon."
"But it's true, Morty. Pikachu, Eevee, and I first saw that Pokemon on the day we left for your journey. We rescued Poliwag from a flock of Spearow during a terrible rain storm. It flew over a rainbow," Mew says, and reached into her backpack, "And as it left…"
She then brings out the Rainbow feather from the very Pokemon, "This feather came floating down. I've been holding on to it ever since."
"The Rainbow Wing," Morty says, breathaken.
"It's very pretty," Molly says.
"It's beautiful," Misty says.
Tomo turns to Morty and asks, "You said it's called the Rainbow Wing?"
"It is," Morty says, and approaches Mew.
He then says to her, "Mew, you must have been a very special trainer for Ho-Oh to bestow the feather to you, and for you to actually see it."
"Why you say that?" Mew asks.
"Because, Ho-Oh vanished from the world a long time ago, guys. They haven't been seen for a hundred and fifty years," Morty says.
Everyone is surprised at the revelation.
"A hundred and fifty years?" Mew says, shocked.
Soon, Morty says, "There's a building called the Bell Tower that's just a short distance from where we are now."
"We know about it, we saw it on the way over here," Brock says.
"The Bell Tower is one of the towers that roost the legendary Pokemon. The Bell Tower is where Ho-Oh rests. While the burned tower, the Brass Tower was the roost of Lugia," Morty says.
The group becomes shocked to hear it, "Lugia?!"
"Yes," Morty says.
"But, what happened to the Brass Tower?" Mew asks.
"It was built to promote understanding between humans and Pokémon, and my ancestors protected it for generations," Morty says.
He then explains, "Over the decades, the Bell Tower and the Brass Tower became known as a special place for another reason. It was the only place on earth where Ho-Oh and Lugia, the legendary Pokémons, made contact with humans. The two visits were a sign of peace, but they would only appear to a chosen few, only to those guarding the tower. Then, one day, invaders came who sought to use the Pokemons' powers for evil. In the ensuing battle, a storm came about. A lightning bolt struck and the Brass tower was set afire!"
"That's awful," Mew says.
"It was," Morty says.
And continues, "Lugia has done its best in order to stop the rain by using powerful winds, but the flame threatens to burn the city. Then Lugia called for rain to put out the fire. By the time it happened, the fire had destroyed the tower. Sadly, overcome by the destruction of the fire and the war, Lugia fled, along with Lugia. They ceased to make contact with humans, and neither of them have returned."
"How come the tower was never rebuilt?" Jen asks.
"Some actually wanted to rebuild the tower, but my ancestors insisted that it be left as a witness for future generations of both Mother Nature's wrath, and man's brutality. Their hope was that the Ho-Oh might return to a new place of peace. So far, these hopes have been in vain."
"Poor Ho-Oh and Lugia," Mew says, sadly.
Molly even sadly says, "That's so sad."
"It was," Morty says.
Then Tomo turns to Mew, "Hey Mew, do you think the Lugia we met at the Orange Islands would have been from here."
"I'm not sure," Mew says.
"You met Lugia as well?" Morty asks, taken by surprise.
"Um yeah. And also…" Mew about to explain.
And right on cue, Mew's Lugia comes out of his Pokeball and lands in Mew's arms.
"Lugia?!" Mew says, surprised.
Misty giggles, "You let yourself out again."
"Sounds like he heard us talking," Brock says.
Morty is surprised to see an actual Lugia in Mew's arms, And soon realizes, "You said your name is Mew, right?"
"Yes," Mew says.
"I thought so. You're the trainer that had an interview at Goldenrod City after defeating Whitney, and your little Lugia came out of its Pokeball as well," Morty says.
"That's right. This little Lugia was entrusted to me by Lugia back in the Orange Island," Mew says.
"Yeah. And Mew was also given Lugia's Feather at the time as well," Jen says.
"And was also given a feather from Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno," Tomo says.
Morty smiles, and is amazed, but still remains calm, "I must admit Mew, I'm very amazed that you and your friends have met legendary Pokemon before, and even been entrusted by Lugia itself with its child."
"Yes," Mew says with a nod, "It's a very long story on how I was given Lugia and been given those feathers. But one thing I know, Lugia said that I have a pure heart and that Little Lugia and I were to become partners. We've been together since."
Just then, everyone looks to see Togepi wandering towards the wall and finding a hole in it.
"Togepi!" Mew calls out.
Pikachu calls out, "Pika!" (Hold it!)
"Pika Pi!" (Be careful!) Sparkle calls out.
Pikachu and Sparkle try to stop him, but Togepi goes through the hole.
Misty rushes after him, "Togepi, get away from there! Togepi!"
Pika! Pi Pi Pi! ("Hold on! Togepi!) Pikachu calls out as he, Sparkle, and Eevee chase after him.
Misty calls out, "Togepi!"
"This way!" Morty says.
Soon, everyone follows.
Misty calls out, "Hey, wait for me!"
Everyone follows Morty to an unknown room.
"It's, like a maze," Tomo says.
"The original fire caused lots of the support beams to collapse and crash down here. It's too dangerous to find our way around," Morty says.
Then Misty says, "Morty! Togepi, Sparkle, Eevee and Pikachu!"
"We have other ways of finding them, Misty," Morty says, and calls out, "Gengar!"
Gengar soon comes up and out of the floor.
"Gengar, round up all the ghost Pokémon and look for Pikachu, Eevee, Sparkle, and Togepi," Morty says.
Gengar proceeds to call forth its ghostly friends, and they all gather.
Morty calls out, "Find them! Go!
The ghost Pokemon start their search.
"That's what I call teamwork!" Brock says.
Morty turns to the others, "The ghost Pokémon know this place better than anyone, and if anyone can find your friends, they can."
Meanwhile, Pikachu, Eevee, and Sparkle catch up with Togepi, but Togepi insists that they keep going, which they do.
Outside the tower, Team Rocket continues to wander around for treasure when the detector picks up something.
"The treasure detector's found something! Over here!" James says and runs to a well, "See? There must be another artifact under here!"
"That's what you say," Jessie says.
"All we got so far is a sack of garbage," Meowth says.
Offended, James says, "Sack of garbage?!" and holds up a bag, "This bag holds a veritable trove of ancient treasure! You don't know the value of these collectible caps!"
"Oh, yeah," Jessie says.
Then Meowth says, "We know that value of them alright! Zero!"
"I'll have you know that some of these bottle caps are worth plenty! At collector's conventions, I've seen them go for…" James says.
But Jessie takes the bag, "Well, if they're so valuable, let's sell them!"
James takes the bag back, "No way! I'm not collecting them to sell! I'm collecting them because they're simple and beautiful and because they make me happy! Why are you so money hungry?!"
"I ain't money hungry, I'm just plain old hungry," Meowth says.
Suddenly, Togepi pops out under the well, startling Meowth and happily surprising Team Rocket.
Jessie happily says, "Togepi!"
"We just found a real treasure!" Meowth says.
Soon, they hear Pikachu's voice, "Pi Pi Pi!" (Togepi!)
Soon, Pikachu, Eevee, and Sparkle pop out as well, which makes Team Rocket even more surprised.
"It's Pikachu!" Jessie says.
"And Eevee!" James adds.
"And the Pichu that evolved into Pikachu!" Meowth says, "We hit the jackpot!
The three Pokemon are ready to attack.
But Jessie says, "Be careful."
"I wouldn't zap us if I were you," James says.
"Unless you wanna zap your friend, Togepi, too," Meowth says, holding Togepi.
Soon, the three back down, and pick up the four Pokemon in their arms.
Jessie happily says, "We've won!"
"Two Pikachu, Eevee, and Togepi!" Meowth says.
And James happily says, "And we never would've caught them if I hadn't bought my trusty treasure detector!"
As Team Rocket celebrates, a pair of Gastly eyes spot them
"Meanwhile, our heroes are still searching inside the tower when that same Gastly comes and informs Morty about the Pokemon whereabouts.
"Gastly," Mew says.
Morty asks, "Any sign of them?"
Gastly says, "Gastly," (We've found them.)
"They've seen your Pokemon," Morty says, and heads up the stairs.
"Wow. You can understand them too? How you do that?" Mew replies, amazed.
"Practice," Morty says.
Everyone else follows. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is making a break for it with the Pokemon they captured.
"We got two Pikachu!" Meowth says.
"Togepi!" James says.
"And Eevee, too!" Jessie adds.
And Meowth says, "And there's nothing they can do!"
As Team Rocket runs, Gengar spots them and uses its tongue to trip Team Rocket up.
"You tripped me, Meowth!" Jessie says.
"It wasn't me, Jessie. I tripped, too," Meowth says.
"It must've been something!" James says.
Gengar soon comes out of the sidewalk and stares James in the face.
"Gengar!" James cries out.
Soon, Mew, her friends, and Morty arrive.
"Hey, look!" Tomo calls out.
And Morty demands, "Give back those Pokémon!"
And with that, Team Rocket performs the motto.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble, we've got Two Pikachu!
James:
Make it double, we've got Togepi and Eevee, too!
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all people within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie.
James:
James.
Jessie:
Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!
James:
Surrender now, or prepare to fight!
Meowth:
Meowth, dat's right!
"Give us back our Pokemon!" Mew says, and charges in.
But Meowth retaliates with a Scratch attack, "Back off, twoipo!"
Jessie and James applaud Meowth's performance.
"Excellent scratching," Jessie says.
"Your claws deserve applause," James says.
"Wobbuffet!" (I agree!) Wobbuffet says.
"If you're looking for applause, I suggest you look elsewhere," Jessie says, and recalls Wobbuffet to the Pokeball.
Pikachu, Eevee, and Sparkle struggle to break free.
"Give em back!" Mew says
"They're ours now! Let's see you try to get them," Jessie says.
Mew angrily says, "You just watch me!"
"We'll battle you for em!" Misty says.
"We'd be delighted," Jessie says.
But Meowth says, "No, we won't! When we battle em, we always get blasted away! I say this time, we run away!
"What should we do, James?" Jessie asks.
"Let's beat it! Come on!" James says.
Team Rocket retreats as Mew and the others give chase.
Mew calls out, "Come back here! You cowards! You're afraid to even battle me!"
"So what if we are cowards?! We've finally got your twerps' four most valuable Pokémon!" Jessie says.
Team Rocket calls out, "You can't catch us!"
We can't let them get away!" Mew says.
Then Morty calls out, "Gengar!" and Gengar flies alongside, "Catch up with them! Hurry!"
Gengar closes in.
Morty calls out, "Gengar, take back the Pokemon!"
Jessie throws her Pokeball, "Arbok, I choose you!"
James does the same, "Weezing, go!"
Both Pokemon come out.
Gengar disappears, prompting Arbok and Weezing to stop in their tracks. Soon, Gengar appears right behind them and attacks from the rear, sending Arbok into a tree. Gengar appears in front of Team Rocket and blocks their path.
Morty confronts them, "Thieves! You should be ashamed of yourselves! How can people who are Pokémon trainers steal other trainers' Pokémon?!"
"It's quite easy," James says.
"We're Team Rocket members first and people second!" James says.
"I ain't even a people," Meowth says.
Morty calls out, "Gengar, use your Night Shade!"
Gengar fires the attack and free the four Pokemon.
Morty then calls out, "Haunter, Gastly!"
Right on command, two Gastly and a Haunter appear. Haunter catches Pikachu and Eevee while the two Gastyl catches Togepi and Sparkle.
"Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew happily says.
"Togepi! Sparkle!" Misty happily says.
The three Pokemon then carry the others towards their trainer.
"Gastly, Haunter, thank you!" Mew says.
The three Pokemon disappear and the captives reunite with their trainers.
Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew says.
Misty says, "Don't you worry me like that again, Togepi. You too, Sparkle."
Suddenly, Jessie shouts, "Arbok, this battle isn't over!"
"Go get that Gengar!" James calls out.
Both Pokemon charge and close in on Gengar.
Morty calls out, "Dodge it, Gengar!" Morty calls out.
Gengar disappears while Arbok and Weezing get ends up crashing into the concrete.
"Well, I…" James says.
But before James can finish, he spots Gengar floating above
"Gengar!" James cries out.
Jessie calls out, "Arbok, Wrap attack Gengar!"
Arbok manages to do so, but Gengar doesn't seem worried.
"Gengar's in trouble!" Mew calls out.
Morty calls out, "Away, Gengar!"
Gengar quickly disappears and reappears, free of Arbok's coils.
Meowth questions, "Did you...?"
"I think I did!" James says.
"I can't believe my eyes!" Jessie says.
Morty calls out, "Gengar, use your Shadow Ball!"
Gengar charges the attack.
"Arbok, Weezing, hurry!" Jessie calls out.
James calls out, "Team up and attack!"
Both Pokemon do so, but the Shadow Ball launches and nails them, and the force of the attack no only sends them crashing to the ground, but blows Team Rocket away, as well, shocking Mew and the others.
Meowth says, "We were so close that time."
"We lost Pikachu, Eevee, Sparkle and Togepi!" Jessie cries out.
James cries out, "I even lost my treasure detector!"
"We said it before, we'll say it once more…" Meowth says.
Team Rocket cries out, "We're blasting off again!"
Everyone soon looks and sees the crater left after the Shadow Ball landed.
"Gengar's Shadow Ball is pretty awesome," Mew says, surprised.
"And powerful, too," Tomo says.
"Yeah, I'll say," Misty says.
"Look how big the crater is," Jen says.
"Wow," Molly says.
Brock then says, "That may not be the last time you see a Shadow Ball. You'll probably battle Gengar in your gym match.
Later that evening…
"Well Mew, we could have our battles now if you want, but I imagine you and your Pokémon must be tired. Why don't you all have a good rest tonight? And we'll have our gym battles tomorrow," Morty says.
"Yeah, thanks. A good night's rest will make it a better battle," Mew says.
"I'm sure it will, Mew. Well, I'll see you tomorrow, then," Morty says.
Morty and Gengar enter the gym.
"What do you think, Mew? Can you beat em?" Misty asks.
And Brock says, "Ghost Pokémon are tricky, and that one's extra powerful!"
"We'll see tomorrow. Right, Pikachu? Eevee?" Mew replies
"Pika!" (Sure will!) Pikachu says.
"Eevee!" (Yeah!) Eevee says.
With that, Mew and her friends depart from the gym so they can get a goodnight sleep for tomorrow's battle. Of course, witnessing the power and cunning of the Ecruteak gym leader's ghost Pokemon, it makes them wonder how Mew's battle is going to go tomorrow.
