Episode 75: Ribbons of Memories Part 1

Mew and her friends are walking down the path and soon reach the top of the hill. To their amazement, they see a large city over the horizon.

"This must be it," Misty says.

"Bandeau City!" Brock says, amazed.

"It looks really pretty," Misty says.

"Well then, let's go find a Pokemon Center," Mew says.

She then lets out a yawn and says, "I'm still tired from staying up all night."

"Me too," Misty says.

Amaura turns to see Jen and Molly are practically sleeping on her back.

"I guess Jen and Molly are tired too," Tomo says.

"Well then, let's find the Pokemon Center and get some rest," Mew says.

Pikachu and Eevee agree as they let out yawns.

Time has passed, and Mew and her friends have found the large Pokemon Center. They soon enter and the first person to see is Nurse Joy.

Seeing them, Nurse Joy says, "Welcome to the Pokemon Center," But notices the tired looks on their faces. "Oh my, you all look tired."

"We sure are," Misty says.

Brock yawns, "We've been up all night the night before and been walking all day. We could really use some sleep."

"Are there rooms for us to stay for the night?" Mew asks.

"Luckily, there's a bedroom with two bunk beds available. I'll register you all and you can get a good night's rest," Nurse Joy says.

"Thanks Nurse Joy," Misty says.

Moments later, Mew and the others have reached the room and are already gotten ready for bed. Once that happens, they're all sleeping in the bed to get a goodnight sleep in the center. They've been traveling for a while and could really use it.

The next day, Mew and her friends have woken up from their sleep and are feeling refreshed. Now they're having breakfast in the Pokemon Center's cafeteria.

Misty happily says, "I feel a lot better after having a goodnight sleep and a bath."

"Yeah. We've been traveling quite a while through the Johto Region," Mew says.

"And get to see the many different places," Tomo adds.

"And see so many Pokemon," Molly happily says.

"Well, we still have ways to go before getting to Olivine City, so there's a lot more places to go from here," Brock says.

"Maybe we can take the time to relax while we're here," Misty says.

"Yeah. I want to see what the city is like," Molly says.

"Me too," Jen says.

Suddenly, they begin to hear something coming from the lobby of the Pokemon Center. The group turns their heads to see a few trainers have gathered with their Pokemon, grooming, letting them meet Nurse Joy, and other other stuff.

"What's going on?" Misty asks.

"I'm not sure," Brock says.

Suddenly, someone says, "They're getting ready for the Pokemon Contest in a Few days."

The group turns to see a young boy walking toward them. The boy has dark blue crew cut hair, with a widow peak, fair skin, and bright yellow eyes. He is wearing glasses, along with a green shirt, blue pants, and red and green sneakers. He is also wearing a beige color backpack on his back.

"Hello, you mention something about a Pokemon Contest?" Mew replies.

"Yeah. A Pokemon Contest is being held here and many trainers are registering and practicing for the contest," The boy says. "By the way, my name is Miles. Miles Michaelis, it's nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you, Miles. My name is Mew, and these are my partners, Pikachu and Eevee," Mew says.

Then Misty says, "I'm Misty, and these are Togepi, and my Pikachu, Sparkle."

"The name's Brock," Brock says.

And Tomo says, "I'm Tomo, and this is Meloetta and Skwovet."

"I'm Jen, and this is Amaura," Jen says.

Molly happily says, "I'm Molly."

"Nice to meet you, are you all planning to enter the Pokemon Contest?" Miles asks.

"Actually, we got here last night and we fell asleep soon after," Misty says.

"What is a Pokemon Contest?" Molly asks.

"A Pokemon Contest is a special contest that presents their Pokemon the best they can. There are two rounds. The first is the Performance Stage, on which the trainer has their Pokemon show off their style and skills, and will be scored on how well they performed. Only a select few are able to move on to the second round. The second round is the Battling Stage, and each trainer can only use one Pokemon for their battle. Those who have their Pokemon knocked out or unable to battle, lose, and the winner moves on to the next round until the last trainer reaches the top. The winning coordinator wins a ribbon which allows them to enter the Grand Festival," Miles explains.

"It sounds different than battling for Gym Badges," Tomo replies.

"It is," Miles says, "For Pokemon Contests, you need to win Five Ribbons in order to enter the Grand Festival. And the winner of the Grand Festival gets to have the Ribbon Cup."

"Sounds like you know a lot," Jen says.

"Yeah. I want to be a Pokemon Coordinator and a Pokemon Breeder just like my mom, and enter the Grand Festival," Miles says.

"That sounds great," Misty says.

"It is. The day of the contest is going to be my tenth birthday, so my parents said it's okay to see the contest tomorrow. I'm actually on my way to get seats for me and my parents," Miles says.

"That sounds great, and you're going to be ten," Jen says.

"Yeah. I'll be officially qualified to be a Pokemon trainer and get my very first Pokemon," Miles says.

"Well then, Happy early birthday," Brock says.

Then Molly asks, "Can we go see the Contest too?"

"I don't see why not," Mew says.

"Yeah. I love to see a real Pokemon Contest," Misty says.

"Me too," Jen says.

"Well then, it seems that it's official," Brock says.

"Great. Follow me and we can give you guys some passes so you can watch the contests," Miles says.

Luckily, Miles is able to ask for the pass with no trouble at all. After that, the group begins to walk around Bandeau City. Mew and her friends are amazed to see the town as they walk across the sidewalk.

"Bandeau City is very big, and has a lot of ribbons around," Misty says.

"And there are a lot of different stores," Mew says.

"Yeah. I was born and raised here, and my parents have been living here for years," Miles says.

"That's nice," Jen says.

And Molly asks, "What do your parents do?"

"My mom is working as a doctor, and my father, well, he's actually the mayor of the city," Miles says.

That catches everyone by surprise, "The mayor?"

Soon enough, Mew and her friends arrive at Miles' home, which is the top floor of a large skyscraper. They're in the living room where Miles introduces them to his parents.

Mile's father is rather round on the body, but he has navy blue hair, and has the same hairstyle as Miles, and has a dark blue beard as well. He is also wearing a burgundy color suit with a black necktie, and dark brown dress shoes, with a white button up dress shirt underneath. While his mother has beautiful curly blonde hair, fair skin, and is wearing a pink shirt, with tight blue jeans, and wears glasses like Miles.

"Welcome Home Miles, were you able to get tickets for the contest?" The father asks with a smile.

"I sure did. I also brought some new friends, Mew, Misty, Brock, Tomo, Jen, Molly, and their Pokemon," Miles says.

"Hello," Mew and her friends reply, along with the Pokemon.

"Hello. It's nice to meet you. I'm Elias, and this is my wife, Carol," The father, Elias says.

"It's nice to meet you," Mew says.

"Miles was telling us about a Pokemon Contest in a few days, so we decided to see it," Brock says.

"I'm glad you've taken an interest. Bandeau City has been helding Pokemon Contests for years," Elias says.

"We also heard that Miles is going to be ten years old soon," Brock says.

"That's right. My little boy will be ten years old and will be qualified to go on his journey," Carol says.

"I am really excited, but I'm also rather nervous. I've never been on a journey before, so I'm a little uneasy. I'm not even sure what I want for my first Pokemon," Miles says.

"It's okay, we all get nervous while traveling for the first time, but it's also exciting," Mew says.

"Yeah. You get to go to so many different places, meet many different trainers, and see many different Pokemon," Misty says.

"And you get to camp out and catch all kinds of Pokemon," Tomo says.

"And you'll be gaining experiences while traveling, learning all sorts of things," Brock says.

"Sounds like you all have experiences," Carol replies.

"Yeah. We've been traveling for a while now. We've been traveling through Kanto and the Orange Islands. Now we're traveling through Johto to compete in the Johto League Silver Conference," Mew says.

"Sounds like you've been traveling a lot," Elias says.

However, he then looks at Mew very carefully, "Hmm…"

"What is it?" Mew asks.

"Oh, it's nothing. It's just you kind of like someone I used to know. Someone from a long time ago," Elias says.

"Really?" Mew asks.

"Yes. You remind me of her when she was your age," Elias says.

"I see," Mew says.

Then Miles asks, "Hey dad, can I show them my room."

"Sure son," Elias says.

Soon enough, Mew and her friends are escorted to Miles' bedroom. Miles' room is big, a large bookshelf with books. A desk that has a lamp, a few journals with some pens on it, along with a bank shaped like Cyndaquil. There is also a television, with a large opening. He also has a bed that has some Pokemon stuffed toys on it.

"You have a nice room," Brock says.

"Thanks. I know it's not like how many children of the mayor to expect, but my dad likes to keep things simple, I kind of pick it up from him too," Miles says.

Then Miles says, "Still, I'm going to miss my parents, my friends, and also my room when I leave, but I've been wanting to be a coordinator for a long time."

"That's okay Miles, everyone gets nervous sometimes," Mew says.

"I know, but I don't even know which Pokemon I want first, and I'll be going to see Professor Elm a week after my Birthday," Miles explains.

"We know Professor Elm, he's really nice," Tomo says.

"And he's a great researcher," Brock says.

"Really?" Miles asks.

"He sure is. And he also helps take care of the Pokemon a trainer can get here," Misty says.

"I know that, but still not sure on the Pokemon I want," Miles says.

Then Mew has an idea, "Maybe if you see them up close, it can help."

Then throws her Pokeball, "Cyndaqill! Chikortia! Totodile! I choose you!"

And with that, Mew's Totodile, Cyndaquil, and Chikortia come out of the Pokeballs.

"Wow! You have all three of the Johto Pokemon!" Miles says, amazed.

"I sure do," Mew says.

And Chikortia jumps onto Mew's shoulders and snuggles against her cheek.

Mew giggles, "Oh Chikortia."

Miles giggles, "Looks like your Chikorita really likes you."

"You have no idea," Mew replies.

She then places Chikortia on the floor, "Also, despite her having a scent scene and being sweet, my Chikortia is one tough little lead."

"Chiko," (That's right.) Chikortia says with pride.

Totdile begins to do a happy dance with glee.

Molly giggles, "Totodile is very funny."

"It sure is. It looks like a very happy Totodile," Miles says.

Miles then kneels to Cyndaquil, "Hello Cyndaquil, it's nice to meet you."

"Cyndaquil," (Hello.) Cyndaquil replies.

"Your Pokemon seems really nice, and well cared for," Miles says.

"Thanks. I make sure that they're healthy and strong," Mew says.

Totodile walks over and asks, "Tot Tot Totodile?" (I'm hungry, when can we eat?)

"Totodile, we had breakfast over an hour ago. We'll eat later," Mew says.

"You can understand your Totodile, Mew?" Miles asks, surprised.

"I do," Mew says.

"Mew can understand Pokemon, and as you can see Pokemon really likes her," Misty says.

"Wow! Really?!" Miles asks, amazed, "How did you do that?"

"To be honest, I don't know," Mew says.

"Yeah. Mew can understand Pokemon as long as she can remember. What's more, Mew is actually raised by Pokemon as well," Brock says.

"Really?" Miles asks, astonished.

"Yeah," Tomo says, "I can understand Pokemon as well, and I was raised by Mama Kangaskhan."

"Amazing," Miles says, astonished.

"Of course, Tomo and I aren't relatives or related, but we like to think of each other as brother and sister because we have a lot in common," Mew says.

"Really? Where did you both live?" Miles asks.

"Mew used to live in the forest outside of Pallet Town with her adopted father, Zeraora. Tomo lived in the Pokemon Nature Preserved in the same region," Misty explains.

"If Mew used to live in Pallet Town, then it must mean you both must have come from the Kanto Region, and that means you lived in the same town as Professor Oak," Miles says.

"That's right," Mew says.

Then turns to the others, "What about you guys?"

"Well, I used to be the Pewter City Gym Leader before I let my dad take over. Now I'm traveling to become the best Pokemon Breeder," Brock says.

And Misty says, "I lived at the Cerulean Gym, where my three sisters are gym leaders. Now I'm traveling to be a Water Pokemon Master, even though I have more than Water Type."

"I actually came from Jurassic Island in Orange Island, and I'm traveling so I can learn about being a trainer, and maybe someday help my sister run her gym that specializes in Prehistoric Pokemon," Jen says.

"I lived at Greenfields here in the Johto Region, and I came with Mew and the others to travel with them," Molly says.

"That's amazing, you all come from different places and are traveling together," Miles says, amazed.

"Well, every trainer is different, they either travel on their own or like us, we travel together," Mew says.

"Hearing all that is making me more excited to go on my journey," Miles says.

"Of course, being a Pokemon trainer also means you have to work together with your Pokemon, whether it's in a battle, or while traveling," Mew says.

Then Tomo says, "Hey guys, maybe having a battle can help Miles decide on what Pokemon he should choose."

"That's a good idea," Misty.

"Yeah. The top of the skyscraper actually has a battlefield because many trainers live here," Miles says.

"Let's go check it out," Jen says.

Soon enough, Mew and her friends are on the top of the skyscraper, where there is a big battlefield.

"Hey Misty, wanna battle with me first," Mew asks.

"Sure," Misty says.

Then Mew takes out her Pokeball, "I'll choose Chikorita for this battle."

"Great. I'll go with Oddish," Misty says.

Soon enough, Mew and Misty are standing on opposite sides of the Battlefield with their representing Pokemon. Mew chose Chikorita and Misty chose Oddish.

"Alright Mew, you'll make the first move," Misty says.

"Okay then. Chikorita, let's start with your Tackle Attack," Mew calls out.

Chikorita charges in for the attack.

"Oddish, use Tackle too!" Misty calls out.

Oddish charges into Tackle.

Both Pokemon collide their attacks and push each other back.

"Now Chikorita, use Razor Leaf!" Mew calls out.

Chikorita performs the attack.

"Oddish, dodge and use Bullet Seed!" Misty calls out.

Oddish dodges the attack and performs Bullet Seed. The Bullet Seed strikes at Chikorita and sends her back.

"You okay, Chikorita," Mew calls out.

"Chiko," (Doing good.) Chikorita says.

"Alright then, time to give it your Vine Whip!" Mew calls out.

Chikorita performs Vine Whip and is able to whip Oddish back, making the Weed Pokemon fall back and crash to the ground.

"Oddish!" Misty calls out.

Oddish struggles, but is able to stand back on its feet.

"Great. Now use Razor Leaf Attack!" Misty calls out.

"Chikorita, use Razor Leaf too!" Mew calls out.

Both Pokemon perform their attacks and they collide with one another.

While the battle is taking place, Elias opens the door to see Miles and the others watch Misty and Mew battle. Elias can't help but smile to see Miles has made good friends who love Pokemon like he does. However, there is something about Mew that catches his attention. He really feels that he has seen her face before.

At the same time, Miles and the others watch the battle.

"Wow. Mew and Misty are amazing," Miles says.

"Yeah. Mew is a great Pokemon trainer," Tomo says.

"Misty is as well, but her main specialty is Water Type, but she's able to work together with other Types of Pokemon," Brock says.

"Yeah. I think it's interesting that people like to work with specific types of Pokemon, or even specific Pokemon," Miles says.

"Well, for Gym Leaders, they like to use certain types of Pokemon. Brock usually uses Rock Types, Misty uses Water Type. Even my sister, Kate, uses Prehistoric Pokemon for her battles," Jen says.

"Pokemon like Amoura, right? I remember that it's a prehistoric Pokemon as well," Miles says.

"That's right. Of course, my sister and I hang out on Jurassic Island, but it also feels like a second home to us, and we made a lot of friends," Jen says. And hugs her Pokemon, "And I ended up with my best buddy, Amura."

"Amura," (That's right.) Amura happily replies.

Molly looks at the battle, "Wow. Mew and Misty are doing great. Chikorita and Oddish are doing well as well."

Back to the battle, Oddish and Chikorita continue to perform their attacks.

"Oddish, use Stun Spore!" Misty calls out.

Oddish uses Stun Spore.

"Chikorita, dodge and use Razor Leaf!" Mew calls out.

Chikorita dodges the attack and performs Razor Leaf that strikes at Oddish with full force, causing her to fall to the ground.

"Oddish, are you okay?!" Misty calls out.

Oddish struggles, by using her leaves to stand up, despite being bruised and injured from the attack. Just then as Oddish is able to stand on her own feet, she starts to glow. That catches everyone by surprise.

"What's going on?" Miles asks.

"Oddish is evolving," Brock says.

Oddish continues to glow as her shape changes as she evolves. Soon, the light disappears and Misty's Oddish has evolved into a Gloom.

"Oddish evolved into Gloom," Misty says, surprised.

"Cool," Mew says, and takes out her Pokedex.

Dexter says, "Gloom, the Weed Pokemon, and the evolved form of Oddish. A Grass and Poison Type. The nectar it drools from its mouth smells so atrocious that it can make noses curl from more than a mile away."

"That's great Gloom, you've evolved," Misty happily says.

"Gloom Gloom," (I'm happy too.) Gloom happily says.

"Gloom is happy too," Mew says.

"Yeah, but we've been battling for sometime, huh," Misty says.

"Yeah, and Chikorita is looking tired," Mew says.

Just then, Elias walks over, "I wouldn't be surprised after the battle they're doing."

"Hi Elias," Mew says.

"Hi dad," Miles says.

"Hello Miles, I can see you're enjoying the battle," Elias says.

"Sure am," Miles says, "Mew and Misty are battling with each other's Pokemon to show me the three Pokemon I might choose. They already showed me Chikorita."

"Yeah. I think it's as good a time as any to switch, to give Chikorita and Gloom some rest," Mew says.

"It's a good idea, and I must say, Mew, you and Misty had a pretty good battle out here. And congrats on your Gloom evolving, Misty," Elias says.

"Thank you," Misty says.

Then Elias has an idea, "Say, since you all are going to the contest together, perhaps you and your friends would like to spend a few days with us until the Pokemon Contest."

Mew and her friends are surprised to hear it.

"Are you sure?" Mew asks.

"I'm sure, you all have been nice to my son, and you all seem to have become good friends. We have a few guest rooms, so we don't mind allowing you to stay," Elias says.

Mew turns to the others, "What do you think?"

"I don't mind," Misty says.

"Sure. I like to stay," Jen says.

"Me too," Molly says.

"Me too," Tomo says.

"I don't mind at all," Brock says.

Mew then turns to Elias, "Sure, we don't mind staying for a few days."

"That's great. We'll prepare the guest rooms so you'll all feel more comfortable," Elias says.

Sometime later in the evening, the girls are in one guest room while the boys are in another. Mew and the girls have their things put away. Just then, Mew's bag falls off the ground and some of her things fall out.

"Whoops," Mew replies, and begins to pick up her things.

And soon, Misty and the girls notice the necklace that she has shown to Meowth a while back. The necklace has a white orb attached with a red ring around it, and an orange half ring crossing the red one.

"What's this?" Molly asks, and picks up the necklace.

"Oh, that's the necklace I've had for a long time, since I was a baby," Mew says as Molly passes her the necklace.

"I didn't know you have that necklace," Misty says.

Unknown to the girls, Elias is walking towards their room to check on them.

He then hears Mew say, "Yeah. I've had this necklace since I was a baby. My papa found it around my neck the day he found me."

Curious, Elias walks towards the room to notice the door is slightly open. He takes a peek to see Mew sitting on the beck with the necklace in her hand. Misty and the others sit beside her to see it.

"It looks really pretty," Molly says.

"Thanks. It is a nice piece of jewelry, but I'm not sure where it came from, or who it belongs to. I suspect it must have been from my birth parents at some point," Mew says.

"Yeah. And it will be hard because you have no clue where you come from before Zeraora found you," Misty says.

"Yeah. I suspect whoever gave it to me must have really loved me," Mew says.

She then sighs, "I still wish I knew who my parents are, where I come from, and who gave me this necklace."

Elias sees the necklace and is shocked to see the necklace Mew is holding. What's more, he sees Mew take off her hat to reveal her hair color and style.

"I'm sure you will someday," Misty says.

"Thanks," Mew says.

"So Mew, other than the necklace, is there anything else you have that will help identify your real parents if we find them?" Jen asks.

"Well, I don't really say much, but I actually have a birthmark," Mew says.

"A birthmark?" Misty questions.

"It's on my lower back. I don't pay much attention to it because of its location, but I have a flower shaped birthmark on my back," Mew says.

"A flower shaped birthmark?" Jen replies, confused.

Mew gently lifts the back of her shirt to reveal a flower shaped mark on her lower back. It's a light reddish pink color birthmark of a six pointed flower, and it shows a little yellow in the center.

Eliasa eyes wide open in shock to see the birthmark on Mew's back.

"Wow. It really is a flower," Misty says.

"It's so cute," Molly says.

"Thanks. From what papa and Professor Oak observes, it seems to be in the shape of a Gracidea Flower," Mew says. "I was hoping that if I ever find my birth family, I can show them the necklace and the flower as proof. Of course, the chances of finding my birth family is very slim without any idea where I came from."

Seeing the girls are fine, and still shocked to see Mew's necklace and birthmark, Elias slowly takes his leave without the girls noticing a thing.

"I'm sure you will find out someday," Jen says.

"Maybe, if not, then I want to at least know where I come from, and how I ended up in Pallet Town Forest," Mew says.

"That's true, without all that, you're technically reaching a dead end," Misty says.

"True, but learning about where I come from and who my birth family is will be enough for me. Besides, I have papa, Professor Oak, Adriana, Daisy, Eevee, Pikachu, Tomo, the rest of my Pokemon friends from home, and you guys now. Even if I'll never find the truth, you all will have a place in my heart," Mew says.

"That's sweet, Mew," Misty says.

Molly then hugs Mew with a giggle. Tomo does too. Mew also giggles alongside them.

Meanwhile, Elias is sitting on his bed as he ponders about Mew's appearance, her ability to communicate with Pokemon, the necklace, and the birthmark. As of now, he continues to think calmly, but within him feels like a hurricane of emotions.

He looks at the photograph to see a family photo.

There is a beautiful young woman who looks a lot like Mew, but her teal hair is in a bun, and the hair color is more blue, almost turquoise. Her eye color is also a bright emerald green color, and has fair skin like Mew's. She is also wearing a short sleeve, knee length magenta dress with black slip on shoes.

Next to the woman is a bipedal, fox-like Pokémon. It is covered in a coat of long fur that resembles a robe. This "robe" is primarily dark red with red-orange, flame-like markings near its knees. There is also a thin tuft of white fur on its torso, which is flanked by yellow fur draping down from its shoulders. Its forearms feature long red fur resembling sleeves, and its hands and feet are dark gray with three clawed fingers and toes, respectively. A tail covered in yellow fur protrudes from its "robe". Its head is yellow with longer white fur on its cheeks. It has red eyes and a slender snout with a pinkish nose. Three tufts of red-orange fur protrude out of each ear. When its mouth is open, two pointed teeth can be seen on its upper jaw.

Beside her is a man who has blonde hair, blue eyes, a lot like Mew's eyes, and his skin is a bit tan. He is wearing an orange shirt with a collar, and a red necktie, wears beige shorts, along with red and white color sneakers. He also wears a lab coat as well. What's more, the man is wearing the same necklace that Mew currently has now, along with another necklace. The other necklace around his neck has a black orb with blue and yellow rings on it.

The Pokemon besides the man is a large, blue, draconic Pokémon with medium-sized wings shaped like thistle leaves, although it is rarely seen flying. Its bright red head is harder than rock and is very rough. It has a set of glaring, ferocious pale yellow irises. Its arms are longer than its legs, giving it the appearance of a hunchback. It has a thick, moderately-sized tail and sharp white claws on both the hands and feet. It also has tall, conical, red spikes: three on each arm, one on each shoulder, two on each leg, and four on its tail. It has a blunt, brutal snout, bearing a maw with no discernible teeth; instead, small fang-like protrusions sprout from its jaws. It has a series of olive, ellipsoid scutes running across its belly.

In the woman's arms is a baby and from the appearance is a girl wrapped in a blanket. The baby shows signs of dark teal hair, fair skin, and blue eyes.

Elias softly says to himself, "It can't be…"

Flashback:

Years ago, Elias is with the young woman in the photo who's a small child around Mew's age. Elias, who is a younger age as well, watches as the young girl resembles Mew performing at a Pokemon Contest with her Pokemon, a small yellow fox Pokemon with grace, beauty, and fire. Then sees how she battles with her Pokemon at the Contest and wins a large trophy with a ribbon attached to it.

The girl happily hugs the younger Elias, "I did it, Elias. I won."

"You were great Eliza! You really became a great Pokemon Coordinator! I'm so proud of you!" Young Elias happily says.

Flashback Ends:

Elias sadly sighs and says, "Eliza… have I really found her… have I found your little Hanako…. My little niece." and lets tears fall down her face.
