Episode 76: Ribbons of Memories Part 2
Mew and her friends have arrived in Bandeau City, they've met with a young boy named Miles, who is excited and nervous about officially becoming a Pokemon Coordinator after his tenth birthday. They also met Miles' parents, his father Elias, who is the mayor of the city, and his wife Carol. However, during their first night in Miles' home, Elias has made a shocking discovery about Mew, and has faith that Mew could be the child of his younger sister.
Days Passed: Miles Birthday
"Happy Birthday Miles!" Mew and her friends happily say.
"Thanks guys," Miles says.
As of new, Mew and her friends, along with Miles and his parents are having breakfast at the table.
"I can't wait to go to the Contest Hall to see the Pokemon Contest," Miles says.
"Me too. I've never seen a real Pokemon Contest before," Mew says.
"Neither have I," Tomo says.
"I'm excited to go," Jen says.
"Me too," Misty says.
The Pokemon happily agree as well.
Carol giggles and says, "Sounds like you all are excited."
"I sure am, mom. And I'm really happy that it's happening on my birthday," Miles says.
"I'm really glad to hear it. I'm sure we're going to have a wonderful time," Elias says.
"I can't wait to get there," Molly says.
"Me too. It must be amazing to see the contest up close," Mew says.
"So let's finish eating so we can start heading over to the Contest Hall," Miles says.
"Good idea," Tomo says.
The group continues to have their breakfast and are excited for the contest, Miles is the most excited since they're going there for his birthday today. Elias is happy to see his son happy, however, his sights are also set upon Mew.
Elias says to himself in thoughts of sadness, "Eliza…"
Carol notices this and asks in concern, "Elias, are you alright, dear?"
"I'm okay, just thinking… well, you know," Elias says.
Carol sadly sighs, "Eliza, and her husband, Ichigo."
"Yes. It's been over ten years since what happened. Disappeared without a trace, and no clues to go on," Elias says.
Carol whispers to Elias, "And you're very certain that Mew could be Hanako?"
"I'm afraid I'm not one hundred percent certain. However, the necklace looks identical to my brother-in-law, and the flower birthmark reminds me of how she described' Hananko's birthmark," Elias says.
He then says sadly, "I really want to believe it's hurt, but I don't want to risk Mew thinking otherwise. However, I'm determined to know the truth, so I've already sent a D.N.A sample of Mew's hair during her stay. I might be getting the results today or tomorrow."
"Well then, we'll just have to wait until either the end of the day or tomorrow in order to know the truth," Carol says.
Then smiles, "For now, let's enjoy our son's birthday and have a good time with him and his friends."
"Yes dear," Elias says with a smile.
The couple agree to put Mew's identity on hold and enjoy their son's birthday today.
Sometime later, Mew and her friends, Miles and his parents are now at the Contest Hall to watch the Pokemon Contest that is taking place.
Soon, the person on the battlefield announces, "Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, and I'm happy to be back in Bandeau City for our Pokemon Contest. As you know, I'm Dorrian, and will be hosting the contest in your town which is about to begin."
The woman Dorrian has tawny hair and blue eyes, with fair skin. She also has a mole under her right eye. She is also wearing a green short sleeve kimono top, with Bellossom flowers on it, along with a dark green obi belt, and wears a dark japanese skirt with yellow tights. She is also wearing bright green shoes. She also wears a red flower hair clip on the left side of her hair.
Seeing her appearance, Mew, Misty, and Brock are surprised to see the woman's face.
"Hold on, Dorrian?" Mew asks.
"But she looks a lot like Vivian," Misty says, shocked.
"No. She looks like Vivian, but closer up, I can tell she's not Vivian," Brock says.
"That's correct. Dorrian is actually Vivian's younger cousin," Miles says.
"Cousins?" Mew says, confused.
"Yeah," Miles says, "Dorrian is the Contest Announcer for the Johto Region. Her older cousin Vivian is the Contest Announcer for the Hoenn Region. Vivian has a younger sister, Lilian is the Contest Announcer for the Kanto Region. Dorrian also has an older sister named Marian who is the Contest Announcer in Sinnoh."
"Sounds like the Contest Announcers are like Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny," Tomo says.
The contest continues as Dorrian announces, "The winner of the contest will be given the Bandeau Ribbon," and presents a ribbon for everyone to see. The ribbon has a gold plate at the center, and it has a red ribbon with black and white strips on the side. "And any trainer who earns five contest ribbons will be able to participate in the Grand Festival."
Dorrian then turns her head to announce, "And here at our judging station we have our judges for this competition. Here is Mr. Contesta, our contest Director."
"Hello everyone," Mr. Contest says.
"Mr. Sukizo, president of the Pokemon Fan Club," Dorrian adds.
"Remarkable to see you all," Mr. Sukizo says.
"And lastly we have our very own Bandeau City's Nurse Joy," Dorrian adds.
"I'm so glad you all can come today," Nurse Joy says.
"And now it's time to get the contest started with the Appeal's Round…." Dorrian announces.
Soon, the first coordinator will be a female coordinator.
She then calls out to her Pokemon, "Meganium, I choose you."
And out of the Pokeball is her Meganium. Meganium is a quadrupedal, pale-green reptilian Pokémon that resembles a sauropod dinosaur. It has a long neck; yellow eyes; a short, blunt snout; and two stamen-like antennae on top of its snout. The antennae are shorter on a female than on a male. Encircling Meganium's neck are large, pink flower petals with a yellow central pattern and white edges. It has three claws on each foot and a stubby tail.
"Wow. It's a Meganium," Brock says.
"I've never seen one before," Jen says.
"Let's see," Mew says, and brings out her Pokedex.
Dexter says, "Meganium, the Herb Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Chikorita. A Grass Type. The fragrance of Meganium's flower soothes and calms emotions. In battle, this Pokémon gives off more of its becalming scent to blunt the foe's fighting spirit."
Just then, the female Coordinator calls out, "Meganium Energy Ball, and then use Petal Dance.
The Meganium uses an Energy Ball. Followed by Petal Dance. As the Energy Ball flies, the Petal Dance circles around the Energy Ball.
"That's a beautiful and powerful move," Dorrian says.
"Wow. That looks amazing," Molly says.
"Beautiful," Mew says.
"And what power," Brock says.
"I know. It's so amazing," Miles says.
And through the contest, there are other Coordinators who present their Pokemon. There's a trainer with a Typhlosion, Feraligator, Raichu, a Jolteon, Butterfree, and other types of Pokemon. Each of the trainers and their Pokemon are a different performance. Each of them shows the best of the Pokemon's performance and ability the best they can.
Sometime later, after the Appeal's round, everyone claps and cheers for the last Coordinator with a Charmeleon.
"That was amazing," Mew says.
"Yeah. And even Water Pokemon can perform in the contest," Misty says.
"And some of them are really cute," Molly says.
Soon, Dorrian announces, "And now, it's time to announce who will be the eight coordinators who will be moving onto the next round. And here they are on the screen."
Everyone watches on the screen to see the sixteen coordinators who will be competing in the second round. The eight trainers, including the girl with the Meganium, along with two male trainers with a Typhlosion and a Feraligator also made it to the second round.
"Alright," Tomo says.
"The girl with the Meganium made it," Mew says.
"And the trainer with the Typhlosion and Feraligator will be on the second round as well," Misty says.
"Sounds like it's going to be a tough second round," Brock says.
"That's right. The second round will be a battle against the eight trainers, and the winner will get the ribbon and one step closer to the Grand Festival," Miles says.
Soon enough, Dorrian takes the stage near the battlefield, "And now our eight semi-finalists will be competing two by two in the second round, the Contest Battle for the Bandeau Ribbon. And with five minutes on the clock, let the Contest Battle Round One Begin!"
And with that, the first round begins.

The female trainer with her Meganium battle against another coordinator with his Slowking. The female trainer with her Meganium wins the round.

Soon, one of the male trainers with its Typhlosion against another trainer with a pokemon called a Xatu. At the end, the trainer with the Typhlosion wins the match.

And then another trainer with the Feraligatr battle against another trainer with the Starmie. The trainer with the Feraligator is victorious in the match.

Sometime later, after a few matches, it is revealed that the female trainer with the Meganium and the male trainer with the Typhlosion are at the finals of the Pokemon Contest.
Dorrian announces, "And now the Bandeau Conest reaches its final round. We present our two coordinators who will be battling for the Bandeau Ribbon. To my left, is Vincent. And to my right is Sofia…. And with Five Minutes on the clock, let's begin the final match."
And with that, the five minute countdown begins, and so is the final round of the Bandeau Contest.
The male trainer, Vincent throws his Pokeball, "Go Typhlosion!"
"Meganium, I choose you!" Sofia calls out and throws her Pokeball.
"So Vincent is going with Typhlosion," Tomo says.
"And Sofia is going with Meganium," Molly says.
"I wonder who's going to win," Misty wonders.
"Well, Typhlosion is a Fire Type so it has the advantage against Meganium which is a Grass Type. However, since this will be a contest battle, it might not be easy to tell,"Mew says.
"That's right. It's not just power they're looking for. It all comes to how well the Pokemon and the trainer does as they also cause damage to the opponent," Miles says.
Sofia calls out, "Meganium, use Petal Dance!"
Meganium then performs Petal Dance.
"Typhlosion, use Flame Wheel!" Vincent says.
Typhlosion uses Flame Wheel as it spin right towards the Petal Dance that goes in a spiral. Typhlosion jumps in the air and flies through the Petal Dance.
"Amazing," Mew says.
"It's practically right through it," Tomo says.
Vincent calls out, "Now, use Swift!"
Typhlosion performs Swift as it performs the Flame Wheel, sending out flying flaming stars. That ends up striking at Meganium with full force, causing some damage, and Sofia loses points.
Sofia then calls out, "Meganium, use Vine Whip to jump in the air.
Meganium then does just that and is now flying in the air.
"Now use, Petal Blizzard!" Sofia calls out.
Meganium then performs Petal Blizzard on the ground and it hits the ground to spread the petals across the battlefield, and some end up hitting Typhlosion.
"And now, Magical Leaf!" Sofia calls out.
Meganium then uses Magical Leaf to spread it across the battlefield, and not giving Typhlosion a chance to make a move. At the same time, Typhlosion has taken damage and lost points.
Vincent calls out, " Typhlosion, use Fire Blast!"
Typhlosion then uses Flame Blast with power and skill.
Mew and her friends continue to watch over the contest to see the two coordinators have their powers represent their power and abilities, and show how elegant, cute, strong, and powerful they are. Still, Mew and her friends are amazed to see the two coordinators and their Pokemon work together to defeat the other opponent as the clock ticks backwards.
And once the timer reaches zero, Dorrian announces, "Times up!"
That's when the trainers and their Pokemon come to a stop to look at the screen.
"And the winning coordinator in the Bandeau City Contest is…" Dorrian announces.
Everyone looks at the screen to see the score is really close, very very close that they both almost lost all their points. And in a matter of seconds, it shows Sofia and her Meganium.
And Dorrian announces, "Sofia with her Meganium!"
Everyone in the audience claps and cheers with excitement to see Sofia and her Meganium has won the Bandeau Contest and the ribbon.
"That was amazing," Mew says.
"Sofia and her Meganium were awesome in that battle," Molly says.
"Vicent and his Typhlosion too," Tomo says.
Moments later, the award ceremony is taking place.
Dorrian announces, "And now Mr. Contesta, our Pokemon Contest Head Committee will be presenting our contest winner, Sofia with her Bandeau Ribbon."
Mr. Contesta presents the ribbon, "Congratulations Sofia, that was an astonishing battle."
Sofia then takes the ribbon with glee and her Meganium happily nuzzles her trainer with happiness. Everyone in the audience continues to clap and cheer for the winner of the contest.
Time has passed, and Miles' birthday party is now taking place in his home. Of course, some of Miles' friends also arrived at the festivities and brought the trainer presents as well. They are now in the large dining room with Miles' birthday cake.
Everyone happily cheers, "Happy Birthday Miles!"
"Thank you everyone," Miles says.
Miles then blows out the candles as they clap happily for Miles' birthday celebration as some pull party favors and blow noise makers with excitement. Miles also receives some presents, like some new clothes, a backpack, and items that will be good for his Pokemon journey, and other kinds of presents. And soon, Elias and Carol are giving Miles their present.
"Happy birthday, Miles," Carol says as she places the present on the table.
"Happy birthday, son," Elias says.
"Thanks mom. Thanks dad," Miles happily says.
Miles then removes the ribbon and opens the box to reveal a Pokemon Egg in the incubator. The Pokemon Egg is orange with a yellow mark of what appears to be head feathers.
"Wow. It's a Pokemon Egg," Miles happily says.
"It is. It's somewhat of a tradition for my family on our tenth birthday that we receive a Pokemon Egg before we go on the Pokemon Journey," Elias says.
"Thanks mom. Thanks dad," Miles happily says and looks at the Egg, "I promise to take good care of it."
"And I know we will," Carol says.
"Indeed. I know you will take good care of the egg," Elias says.
Later in the evening, after the party, Mew and her friends are with Miles in his bedroom as Brock and Mew teach Miles how to take care of his new Pokemon Egg.
"You see Miles, you need to gently rub the cloth against the egg as you hold it in your other arms," Mew says.
"Okay," Miles says, and does the same Mew and Brock do.
"That's it, Miles. You're already getting the hang of it," Brock says.
"Thanks. It kind of helps that I've also watched some Pokemon care on the TV," Miles says.
Then turns to Mew, "You must have taken care of Pokemon Eggs before."
"I did to be honest. And it helps that I've been taught by Chanseys along with Adriana and Daisy's help," Mew says.
"I guess it goes to show that even Pokemon can be such good teachers," Miles says.
The group begins laughing.
Meanwhile, in the other bedroom, Elias and Carol are having an important discussion. After receiving a call from the doctor, Elias and Carol have an important talk.
"So then, the results came out positive," Carol says.
Elias with a smile nods his head, "Yes. I've had Mew's DNA checked with Eliza's and it's certain that she's her daughter. Even her D.N.A matches with Ichigo. There's no doubt about it, she's their daughter."
"So then, are you going to tell her?" Carol asks. "She has the right to know."
"Yes. I plan to tell her tomorrow morning. I… I know that this will come out quite a shock for her, but she has the right to know about us, about her parents, and what happened ten years ago," Elias says.
"I agree, and I think it will help her know that she still has a family. She is our niece, but this Zeraroa that Miles told us is the one who raised her as his own. Of course, if we are going to tell it, it's best we take it slow," Carol says.
Elias nods his head, "I agree. I'm sure Mew has a lot of questions. I just hope we can give her the right answers."
The next day, after having breakfast, Elias and Carol are in the living room with Miles, Mew, and the others. Confused, his parents want to talk to Miles, Mew, and her friends about something important.
"So Elias, what is it you wanna talk about?" Brock asks.
"I'm kind of confused as to why you want to talk to us before Mew and her friends leave to the next gym," Miles says.
"Do not worry son, I promise everything will be cleared to you. To all of you to be honest," Elias says.
"But what is it?" Molly asks.
"Well, for starters, my son told me how over ten years ago, you were adopted by a Pokemon in Pallet Town Forest, correct?" Elias replies.
"Um yes," Mew says.
"And you had no idea who your birth parents are or any other relatives?" Carol asks.
Mew shakes her head in reply, "No. I was barely a year old when my papa found me. The only thing I have that could give me a clue about my birth parents is a necklace and a birthmark on my lower back."
"Do you mind if we see them," Carol asks.
"Um sure," Mew answers.
Mew reaches into her bag and brings out the necklace, and places it on the table for them to see. She then turns around and lifts her shirt to reveal the Gracidea Flower birthmark on Mew's back.
"Oh my," Carol says, surprised.
Elias eyes wide in shock, "It… It's true…"
"Um Elias? Carol? Have you seen this mark before?" Jen asks.
"Yes, we have, especially myself," Elias says, and soon presents the photograph, "I want to show you this."
Mew then takes the photograph for her and the others to see. When they look at it, they are surprised to see the picture. Seeing the photograph is understandable a shock.
"Wow. What girl looks very pretty," Brock says.
"But look… she… She looks a lot like Mew…" Misty says, shocked.
"You're right," Miles says.
"Almost like twins," Tomo says.
Then Jen points to the necklace around the young man's neck, "And look. The guy in the photo has the same necklace Mew does around his neck, and he has another one, but in different colors."
"You're right," Molly says.
Mew looks at Elias and Carol, "But… who are they… and who's the baby the young woman has in her arms."
"I understand you don't remember them, it's been around ten years since you've seen them," Elias says.
"Huh?" Mew replies, confused, tilting her head.
Elias then walks to Mew and says, "You remember when I told you that you remind me of someone I knew. Someone from a long time ago."
"Yes. You did," Mew replies.
"Well, I do apologize for my snooping, but on the first night you've stayed, I've seen you show your necklace to your friends, and seen your birthmark, andI have a strong feeling about you. And so, I've decided to perform a D.N.A test by um, using some of your hair, and I was given the results after the contest," Elias says. Soon, tears begin to form, "Once I've gotten the results, I am happy to know that my suspicions are true."
"And that is…?" Mew asks, and stands up.
Before Mew knows it, Elias gives Mew a hug as tears fall from his face. Mew looks confused and looks at Elias to see the tears and the look in his eyes, and they show pure joy.
"That… that you're my sister's child," Elias says.
Mew is shocked to hear this.
Elias explains, "The young woman in the picture was my younger sister, Eliza. And the man in the picture is my sister's husband, Ichigo. They… they were your parents, Mew, or should I really say, Hanako."
"Han-Hanako?" Mew says, shocked and yet, has hope.
"Yes. At long last, I've finally got to meet you, my sister's daughter, my niece," Elias says.
Misty and the others exclaim in shock, "NIECE?!"
Mew is beyond shocked to hear this, and soon tears fall from her face and begins to hug Elias as doing so. Elias then hugs her back with tears of joy. Misty, and the others are shocked, but also very happy for Mew. Miles is shocked, but is also happy to hear that since Mew is Elias' niece, then that means she's his cousin. Mew is the happiest because she is able to find her family. What's more, the couple in the photo were really her birth parents. Mew actually has a family.
