Episode 89: Control Freak
Another day has come and Mew and her friends are preparing for lunch. MMolly, Jen, and Tomo are setting the tables and bowls for both humans and Pokemon while Mew, Misty, and Brock are fixing up lunch for everyone.
"Everything's ready!" Brock says.
"Oh boy!" Tomo happily says.
"Yay!" Molly cheers.
Brock turns to his Pokemon who is flying in the air, "Come and get it, Golbat!"
Golbat lands and starts to eat.
"How is it, buddy?" Brock asks.
Golbat happily approves.
"Boy, Brock, your Golbat sure has a good appetite, huh?" Mew says.
"That's no big surprise. Brock makes delicious Pokemon food. All the Pokemon gobble it up," Misty says.
The Pokemon happily agree. Suddenly, Golbat hears something and takes off.
Brock calls out, "Hey! Golbat, where're you going?! Come back here!"
"What's up with Golbat?" Mew asks.
"Where's Golbat going?" Jen asks.
"I don't know, but we better go find out," Misty says.
And with that, everyone begins to follow Golbat to wherever he's going.
Golbat continues to fly while everyone chases after the bat Pokemon.
Brock calls out, "Golbat! Slow down a little, will ya?!
Up ahead, Brock sees what appear to be the remnants of a dust cloud and finds a young lady lying on the ground unconscious.
Brock rushes to her and picks her up in his arms, "Miss! Miss!"
Soon, the young lady regains consciousness/
"Hello. I think you must've passed out," Brock says.
The young lady soon realizes something and bolts out of Brock's arms, and looks around, "Where is it?! Where's my detector!" and looks around until she gasps to see her detector has been destroyed, "Just look at it! My detector's destroyed!"
"Is it a supersonic detector?" Brock asks.
"Yes," The young lady answers.
Brock approaches it, "Let me see."
As Brock examines the device, Golbat lands.
Brock says, "Okay. Miss, would you have a laptop computer with you?"
"Yeah, I have one," The lady answers.
"Then I just may have a way to solve your problem," Brock says.
The lady smiles in response, "Oh, that would be wonderful!"
Later, everyone is inside a shed where Brock is working on the destroyed device.
"Don't you worry. We'll have this working in no time!" Brock says.
The young lady, named Tierra happily says, "I can't thank you enough, Brock! I've already spent all the funds on this research, I don't have any money left to buy new equipment."
"Exactly what kind of research are you doing here, Tierra?" Brockasks.
"I'm here on an archaeological study, Brock. I've been trying to find a secret temple that's supposed to be buried somewhere under these ruins," Tierra says.
"So that's why you had that supersonic thing," Tomo says.
"Your detector must've been what attracted Golbat," Misty says.
Tierra then brings out a tablet, "Look. This is what brought me here. This tablet says that thousands of years ago, there was a queen who was able to control Pokemon, without catching them. By using a mysterious golden mask and staff. The tablet also says that the queen had a secret temple where she kept the mask and staff hidden, so her enemies couldn't steal it. If I discover that temple, I might be able to find the queen's mask and staff and uncover their secrets!"
"Wow, imagined if that stuff really worked," Brock says.
"You could make Pokemon do anything you wanted them to," Misty says.
"I wouldn't really like that. It's almost like abusing them," Mew says.
Pikachu and Eevee agree.
Listening through the roof with a stethoscope, Meowth eavesdrops on what Mew and her friends say.
"Da twoip's getting excited," Meowth says.
"And who wouldn't be excited about a way to control Pokemon?" Jessie says.
"Well, the twerpette with Pikachu and Eevee is not too excited," Meowth says.
"With that mask and staff, we could finally get their Pikachu and Eevee!" James says.
"Pikachu and Eevee would just be the beginning! If we could control Pokemon, we could catch as many of them as we wanted!" Jessie says.
"We could give half to da boss an sell da other half on da side," Meowth says.
Back inside, while Team Rocket chuckles at their plan, Brock finishes repairing Tierra's device, "Well, that's it, Tierra. No problem, you're all set."
"But, what about the supersonic radio detector?" Tierra asks.
"Oh, sorry. The detector's totally unfixable," Brock says.
"But without that…" Tierra says.
But Brock says, "I've got something just as good! Golbat, Supersonic!"
Soon, once Mew and her friends are outside, Golbat uses Supersonic to show Brock what's under the ruins.
"What do you think?" Brock asks.
Tierra is very impressed, "Incredible! How did you do it, Brock?"
"I rejiggered some of the software so your laptop could download and display ultrasound data from Golbat's supersonic waves," Brock says.
"That's just amazing!" Tierra happily says.
"Brock did almost the same thing when he got lost inside Dr. Anna's Pokemon clinic," Misty says.
"Brock's great with Pokemon, and with computers," Jen says.
Soon, Tierra spots something on the computer, "Hey, look! That must be the queen's hidden temple!"
"Looks like it's pretty far down, Tierra," Misty says.
"Do you have any kind of digging equipment?" Mew asks.
"I did, but it got destroyed when a giant column I was lifting fell right on top of it and crushed it," Tierra says.
Brock says, "Don't worry about digging, Tierra! I think I can solve that problem, too!"
And with that, Brock calls out his Pokemon: Geodude and Alolan Geodude.
"Okay you two, there's a temple underground and we need to get there!" Brock says.
And with that, the Pokemon start digging.
Tierra happily says, "This is just great, Brock! Now, thanks to you, I'll be able to explore that temple and maybe even find the mask and staff!
"Yeah, I guess we're both pretty lucky that Golbat brought us together, aren't we?" Brock says.
Meanwhile, as Brock talks, Team Rocket watches and waits.
"We've got to get into that temple before they do!" Jessie says. And then asks, "What's your plan, Meowth?
"This one better be a good one, Meowth," James says.
"Don't worry abot dat, just take a look at my new secret weapon!" Meowth says.
The weapon is soon revealed to be a giant drill with a Dugtrio on top.
"I call it da Dugtrio Dig-a-tron! Come on, let's get inside!" Meowth says.
And with that, Team Rocket enters the machine.
"This is quite an impressive piece of equipment," Jessie says.
"Da Dugtrio Dig-a-tron's specially designed to drill trough anyting!" Meowth says.
"I wish the seats were specially designed for comfortable sitting," Jessie says.
Meowth says, "Quit your complainin! We'll be down in dat temple in no time!"
With the press of a button, the machine activates and starts boring into the ground.
Meanwhile, the gang are already underground with both Geodude leading the way.
"You're doing great, Geodude! Just keep it up! According to this it's straight ahead!" Brock says.
Suddenly, everyone in the tunnel feels it rumbling.
"What's that?" Brock asks.
"I don't know!" Tierra says.
Everyone turns back and finds the path is blocked.
"Oh no! Those boulders are blocking the tunnel we just dug!" Misty panics.
"Now we'll have to punch our way back out," Mew says.
"What a disaster," Tierra says.
"We're stuck in the tunnel," Jen says.
Just then, Brock sees something on the monitor, "Hey, what's this?"
"What is it, Brock?" Molly asks.
"We're near a room! Maybe it's the temple!" Brock says.
"Maybe it's best if we head for it, Brock. When we get there, we can figure out a way to get back to the surface," Tierra says, and turns to the others, "What do you say?"
"Let's do it!" Everyone agrees.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket keeps boring through the ground until they enter the temple.
"Next time, I'm gonna put in seat belts," Meowth says.
"I guess this must be the hidden temple," Jessie says.
"Yeah, but where's that mask and that staff?" James questions.
Meowth soon notices, "Hey, guys! Get a load of that giant statue! It's wearing a mask! And it's got a staff in its hand."
Indeed it is, the statue in the temple has the queen's golden mask and staff.
Jessie grows excited, "You're absolutely right for once, Meowth! Those must be the mask and staff we heard the twerps talking about!"
James nods, "We've got it made. Now we'll be able to control Pokemon, without even catching them!"
Soon, Meowth has both the mask and staff freed, "Now dat we got em, how do we use em to control Pokemon?"
James takes the staff, "Maybe we wave this thing around."
And Jessie takes the mask, "Here, give me that, Meowth. A mask with this kind of graceful beauty was obviously meant to be worn by someone with my kind of regal beauty." And puts the mask on.
Suddenly, something happens to her
"What's wrong? Is it too tight?" James asks.
"Maybe her head's too fat?" Meowth suggests.
Suddenly, Jessie starts laughing, I feel a strange power flowing through me!"
"You certainly do seem strange," James says.
Jessie takes the staff and says, "With this mask and this staff, I'm not the old Jessie... from this moment on I am the Queen of all Pokemon!"
"Dat ting's cutting off your coiculation," Meowth says.
Then Jessie says, "You are my lowly subjects! Kneel before me!"
"With my bad knees?" James questions.
"Come out, Victreebel," Jessie commands.
And to James and Meowth's shock, Victreebel comes out of its Pokeball.
"Hey! I didn't tell you to come out of your Pokéball! You take orders from me!" James cries out.
But Jessie commands, "Go, Victreebel. Go and attack, your master."
Victreebel does so.
James cries out, "What are you doing?! Stop! Let go of me!"
"See? I controlled Victreebel," Jessie says.
But Meowth is not convinced, "Dat don't prove nutin, Victreebel always attacks James dat way."
"Wrong! I have the power to control any Pokemon I want to!" Jessie says.
"Are you sure, Jessie?" Merowth asks.
"Of course, I'm sure! In fact, I'll prove it to you!" Jessie says.
And commands, "Meowth, do a little dance for your queen."
And with that, Meowth falls into a daze and does what Jessie says. James finally lifts Victreebel off to see the display.
"I wish I could stop making a dope outta myself here," Meowth says.
"Then stop that dreadful dancing!" James calls out.
But Meowth says, "Believe me, Jimmy, I wanna stop but my body got a mind of its own!"
"Well, now what do you think of your queen?" Jessie asks.
James and Meowth bow before her, "Hail Jessie!"
"I beg your pardon, oh queen," Meowth says.
Jessie chuckles, "Pardon granted, this time."
Just then, there is a rumbling sound as the two Geodudes burst through the wall, and Mew and the others arrive in the temple.
"Geodude," (Final stop.) Both Geodude says
"Guess this must be the place," Brock says.
Just then, Jessie calls out, "The twerps!"
Everyone finds that Jessie is wearing the mask and wielding the staff.
"The mask, and the staff, just like it said on the tablet! Those are priceless artifacts!" Jessie says, astonished.
And Jessie lets out a chuckle.
And with that, Team Rocket performs their motto.
Jessie:
Prepare for the worst trouble you've ever seen!
James:
With the staff and the mask, Jessie's the queen!
Jessie:
I'll rule the world with power and might.
James:
She'll capture Pokemon without a fight.
Jessie:
A Queen whose subjects must all kneel down before me.
James:
Uhhhh, But... I'll just kneel on one knee.
Jessie:
Jessie, her royal highness.
James:
James, her lowly... hey! Wait a second!
Jessie:
Queen Jessie, ruling all with power and might!
James:
You better surrender or she'll go on like this all night.
Meowth: (sighs)
Why fight?
"Team Rocket!" Everyone but Tierre exclaims in shock.
"Those are priceless pieces of ancient history and they belong in a museum!" Tierra calls out.
"Silence!" Jessie commands, "They now belong to Queen Jessie!"
"But they're artifacts!" Tierra calls out.
But Brock says, "Don't even try to reason with them.
"Team Rocket doesn't care about history or archaeology," Mew says.
"All those three care about is causing trouble and stealing Pokemon," Misty adds.
"They're mean!" Jen says.
"And they steal!" Molly says.
Pikachu, Eevee, Sparkle, Amura, Meloetta, and Skwovet confront team Rocket.
Jessie laughs, "You're so right, twerps And today we're going to be doing both!"
Pikachu and Sparkle start sparking.
"You're both pretty tough, but Jessie's in control now!" James says.
"Yeah, just wait and see! She'll have you dancing round, doing the most embarrassing stuff you've ever seen!" Meowth says.
"Do you have to show just how embarrassing?" James questions.
Jessie then commands, "Pikachu! Eevee! I rule you!"
And in no time, Pikachu and Eevee feel Jessie's newfound power, but the two begin to fight it.
Meowth sees it, "It's woikin!"
"Now you're precious Pikachu and Eevee will do whatever we say!" James adds.
"Pika Pi!" (Mew!) Pikachu cries out.
"Eevee!" (Help us!) Eevee cries out
"Oh, no!" Mew says, stunned.
Mew rushes to them, "Don't let em get to you two!"
"Pikachu, I command you both to unleash an electrical attack on that twerp!" Jessie commands.
"Yeah, right. Pikachu is never gonna attack us just because you say so, Jessie," Mew says.
However, Mew notices Pikachu is in front of her, and charges an attack.
"Pikachu!" Mew panics.
Pikachu attacks, but Mew quickly dodges.
"Oh Pikachu!" Mew says, worried.
"It worked!" Molly says, shocked.
"The legend on the tablet must be true!" Tierra says.
"Then Jessie really can control Pokemon without having to catch them!" Misty says.
Jessie laughs, "I told you so, heroes. Come, you two, time for us to go."
And with that, Pikachu and Eevee walk towards Jessie, unable to resist Jessie's power.
"Pikachu! Eevee! Wait!" Mew calls out.
"That's it, obey your queen," Jessie says.
"Pikachu, Eevee, come back!" Mew calls out.
"Keep coming, right this way," Jessie says until both Pokemon are near her.
Then Jessie turns to James, "How do we get this thing back to ground level?"
"Don't ask me, Jessie. I suppose we just throw it into reverse," James says.
But Meowth says, "I forgot! Dere's no revoise, we gotta flip de machine upside down to get back outta here!"
"I'll have your head for this!" Jessie shouts in rage.
Meowth panics, "Please, let me keep my head, your majesty! I'll do anyting you want me to, see?!"
"Please, Meowth. Not the dance again," James says.
"We can't let Team Rocket get away! Geodude, Golbat, go rescue Pikachu and Eevee!" Brock says.
Both Geodude and Golbat agree and set off.
Then Brock calls out, "Go, Onix! You, too!"
Tomo calls out, "Skwovet, Meloetta go!"
"You too, Amura!"
And with that, all the Pokemon charge.
But Jessie is not standing down, "Fools! The queen has power over all Pokemon!"
All of Brock's Pokemon stop in their tracks, even Tomo and Jen's Pokemon.
"She's controlling Brock's Pokemon, too!" Misty cries out.
Brock calls out, "Onix! Golbat! Geodude!"
"Meloetta! Skwovet!" Tomo calls out.
"Amura!" Jen cries out.
All the Pokemon continue to struggle, but Golbat breaks free of Jessie's power.
"Golbat's free!" Molly happily says.
Jessie then tries to use the staff again, "You will obey me!"
However, Golbat counters Jessie's power with Supersonic, canceling it out completely before flying around her.
Jessie cries out, "Hey! Stop it! Do what I tell you! Stay out of my hair!"
"What's wrong?! Why ain't Jessie's magic wand woiking on Golbat?!" Meowth says, confused.
"Maybe that staff works by sending out some kind of supersonic sound waves," Tierra says.
Brock soon gets the idea, "Hey, maybe Golbat's sending out its own supersonic wave to counteract the sound waves that staff gives off! That must be why Golbat and Alucard are the only ones Jessie can't control!"
Brock then calls out, "Golbat, do whatever you have to do to get that staff away from her!"
Golbat charges in.
Jessie then commands, "Geodude, I command you to stop that Golbat!"
Geodude does so.
Then Jessie commands, "Onix, I command you to carry our Dig-a-tron back to the surface immediately!"
Onix slithers forward.
"Onix, no!" Brock cries out.
Then Jessie commands, "Victreebel, retreat to your master for now!"
Victreebel has done so before.
Onix soon busts through the temple wall with the Dig-a-tron in its coils.
"The ceiling!" Mew calls out.
Soon, the temple roof caves in, trapping everyone inside.
"Hey, guys! Is everybody okay?!" Brock asks.
"Yeah," Mew says.
"I think so," Misty says.
Then Brock turns to the others, "How about you?"
"I'm fine, too, Brock," Tierra says.
"So are we," Tomo says as he, Molly, and Jen sit up.
"Good," Brock says.
Soon, it's revealed that both Geodude are left behind.
"I knew you both make it, Geodude," Brock says. Then searches around, "But, where's Golbat?!"
"I think Geodude might've knocked it to the floor, someplace," Mew says
"It must be buried under that huge pile of stones!" Misty says.
"You use the escape tunnel Onix made to get out of this place! I have to find Golbat!" Brock says.
But the stone above shows signs of coming loose. Brock then runs off to find Golbat.
"Brock, you can't!" Tierra calls out.
"It's dangerous down here!" Misty calls out.
"There's gotta be a way to find it under…" Brock says, and kneels down as he puts his hands to his ears, "Go."
"What's he doing over there?" Tomo asks.
"I'm not sure, but I think he's trying to listen for Golbat's supersonic waves," Misty says.
"That's impossible! Isn't it?" Molly asks, surprised.
"I think the range for normal human hearing is between 20 hertz and about 20,000 hertz or so. A normal person couldn't hear Golbat's supersonic waves," Tierra says.
"Maybe a normal person couldn't but I bet Brock could," Misty says.
Yeah," Mew agrees.
In his thoughts, Brock says, "Where are you, Golbat? Where are you?!
Suddenly, the roof starts to cave in again. All the while, Brock listens for Golbat. Then at last…
"I hear you. I can hear Golbat!" Brock says, and runs to where Gobat is.
"Hey, that's great!" Mew.
Everyone follows behind.
"I knew you could do it if anybody could!" Mew says.
Soon, everyone digs Golbat out, and are able to find him/
"There's my buddy, Golbat!" Brock happily says.
"Come on, hurry!" Tierra calls out.
Everyone heads towards the tunnel as the temple roof caves in. Meanwhile, up on the surface, Team Rocket climbs out with some of the Pokemon in tow, including Pikachu and Eevee.
"Thank you, Onix," Jessie says.
Then commands the Pokemon, "Pikachu, Eevee, everyone, this way,"
Jessie, Eevee, and Pikachu head to the left.
"What are you doing, Jess?" James asks.
"Now's our chance to make our getaway," Meowth says.
"This is also our chance to get revenge on those twerps, for all the times they've shocked us! We'll wait here, and when they all come crawling up, Pikachu and Eevee will hit them with a giant Thunderbolt!" Jessie says.
Right on cue, Pikachu and Eevee start sparking.
"Not yet! I said wait for the…" Jessie says.
But they release the attack anyway.
"What are you two doing?! I command you both to…" Jessie demands, but notices something's up.
Pikachu and Eevee are free from Jessie's control.
Jessie runs away, screaming, "Help! Those two Pikachu are attacking me!"
But as soon as Pikachu and Eevee over an arrangement of stones, he falls back under Jessie's command.
Seeing that, Jessie says Pikachu, Eevee, I command you both to wait for those so-called heroes!
Pikachu and Eevee follow Jessie's command.
"Whatever," Jessie says.
All three soon cross the threshold of stones.
"Alright, Pikachu, Eevee, shock them when they…" Jessie says.
But then Pikachu and Eevee attack them again as Mew is the first to surface.
"Jessie?" Mew says, confused.
She soon notices Pikachu and Eevee chasing Jessie, "Pikachu? Eevee?"
Eevee soon stops at the stones, but Pikachu continues, and is under Jessie's spell again.
Noticing this, Jessie tries again, "Let's try again."
Jessie and Pikachu cross the threshold again.
"Now stay here and wait for…" Jessie says, but Pikachu and Eevee zap her again.
Tomo, Molly, and Jen begin laughing.
"I wonder what's going on here," Mew wonders.
Tierra soon realizes, "I know!"
"Do what I tell you, you…" Jessie angrily says.
But Tierra says, "They won't work here!"
Jessie, Pikachu and Eevee turn and Mew, and the others and Tierra.
"What won't work?!" Jessie questions.
Then Tierra explains, "It says on the tablet that the queen was only able to use her mask and staff to control Pokemon from within her home village. See those half-buried stones behind you? That's the boundary line, and you're outside it. So if you want to control any Pokemon, you have to stay back in there!"
"What do you mean?!" Meowth asks.
James understands, "The only way Jessie can continue her reign as Pokemon Control Queen is if she reigns in this sandbox?!"
Jessie sighs, "It's certainly good to be the Pokemon Queen, but it would be a royal pain to live here for the rest of my life. What should I do? What should I…"
"Pika!" (Jessie!) Pikachu shouts.
Jessie turns to see Pikachu and Eevee sparking and begins to panic.
"Let's get out of here!" Jessie runs away.
Team Rocket retreats.
"Pikachu! Eevee!" Mew happily calls out.
Pikachu and Eevee happily call out to Mew and the three embrace each other.
"It's good to have you both back," Mew happily says.
Suddenly, the Dugtrio Dig-a-tron turns into a rocket and takes off.
"Prepare for liftoff!" Meowth says.
"Meowth, what's going on?" Jessie asks.
"I neglected to mention dat da Dig-a-tron can fly. Up, up and away!" Meowth says.
The machine flies off.
"We can't let them get away!" Tomo says.
"We gotta save those artifacts!" Tierra says.
Right as Tierra speaks, Golbat takes off/
"Go, Golbat!" Brock says.
"Golbat has the right idea!" Mew says, and calls out, "Go Noctowl!"
Misty calls out, "Go Swana!"
"Go Braviary!" Jen calls out.
"Go Skarmory!" Tomo calls out.
And with that, the five Pokemon follow Golbat.
Back inside the rocket.
"Well," Jessie removes the mask, "I guess this thing's no good to me, now."
"But it's solid gold, isn't it, Jessie?" James replies.
"We could sell it and make a ton of money!" Meowth agrees.
"That's right," Jessie says.
Team Rocket then looks on the screen and sees five flying Pokemon following them.
"We're being followed!" James says.
"Leave this to me!" Meowth says.
With the press of a button, booster rockets activate and the rocket goes faster, leaving everyone in the dust)
"Oh no! Team Rocket's getting away!" Misty says.
"I, guess we can't stop them," Tierra says.
Golbat begins to get tired.
"Golbat!" Brock says. And then calls out, "You can do it, Golbat!"
Hearing his trainer and determined to stop Team Rocket, Golbat starts glowing.
"What's going on with Golbat?" Tomo asks.
The wings straighten and elongate, then they split, and the legs get shorter before the glow fades to reveal a new Pokemon. He is now a purple, chiropteran Pokémon with a small, round body. It has long, pointed ears, yellow eyes with red pupils, and a small mouth that usually has its teeth bared. On its body are two pairs of wings: an upper pair that is slightly larger and a lower pair that developed from its hind legs. Both pairs have green-blue membranes, but the lower pair's membranes are only visible from the back. The upper wings have two claw-like fingers near the middle. On the bottom of its body are what appear to be a pair of stubby feet or tufts of fur.
"Whoa!" Tierra says, surprised.
"Guys, Golbat just evolved!" Misty says.
"Into what?" Molly asks.
"That's a Crobat," Mew says, and takes out her Pokedex.
Dexter then says, "Crobat, the Bat Pokemon, and the evolved form of Golbat. A Poison and Flying Type. With its two additional wings, Crobat is able to fly much faster than Golbat.
"Hey! You can catch 'em now, Crobat!" Brock says.
Crobat agrees and zooms off.
"Crobat's like a rocket!" Tomo says.
"Go get em, you two!" Misty cheers.
Soon, the bat Pokemon close in on Team Rocket, and they notice it.
"Golbat just evolved and it's getting closer!" Jessie says.
"Make this thing go faster!" James cries out.
"This is as fast as it can go," Meowth says.
Then Wobbuffet appears, "WOO BUFFET!" (That's right!)
Brock calls out, "Crobat, use your wings to slice up that rocket!"
Crobat zooms around The Dugtrio Dig-a-tron and slices the metal machine to pieces with their wings, shattering it to pieces and sending Team Rocket crashing into the ground.
"Quick, let's grab those…" Jessie cries out.
But Crobat lands in front of Jessie, "CUUHH-ROW!" (Don't bother!)
"If you want a battle, let's battle!" Jessie says.
"We're ready!" James says.
Let's rumble, bat-boys!" Meowth says.
But Mew calls out, "No way!"
Soon, Mew and the others arrive.
"We'll battle you this time!" Mew calls out.
Then turns to her Pokemon, "Pikachu, Eevee, use your Thunderbolt on em!"
They blast their combined Thunderbolt and send Team Rocket flying.
"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.
"WOBBU!" (?) Wobbuffet cries out.
Soon, everyone is back at Tierra's quarters.
"My expedition was a success! Unfortunately, the temple was destroyed. But luckily, the queen's mask and staff are safe and sound," Tierra says.
"Yeah, and it's all because of Brock and Crobat," Mew says.
