Episode 93: Turning Over A New Bayleef
Mew and her friends continue on their road to Olivine City, and as usual, they are taking their break before continuing on.
Mew calls out, "Come on out, everybody!"
Mew and the others call out some of their Pokemon.
"Whaddya say we have a little fun for a while?" Mew says.
Bayleef happily agrees and runs toward Mew and accidentally knocks her to the ground, shocking everyone.
"Mew, what happened?" Brock asks
"Are you okay, Misty?" Misty asks.
"I'm okay, just a little winded," Mew says.
Soon, everyone is starting to relax in their own way. Brock, Tomo, and some of the Pokemon are looking at the clouds. Misty and Jen are playing with some of their Pokemon, including Togepi, Sparkle, and Amaura. Meanwhile, Molly, Mew, and some of their Pokemon are going to play a game.
"Okay, everybody understand the rules? Whoever catches the branch wins the game," Mew explains.
Everyone agrees.
"Okay, Noctowl, go!" Mew says.
Noctowl flies off with the stick while the rest of the Pokémon pursue.
"Alright, Noctowl, you can let it go, now!" Mew calls out.
Noctowl lets go of the stick, all the Pokémon jump as high as they can, but Bayleef catches the stick first.
"Nice height on that jump, Bayleef! You're the winner!" Mew happily says.
All the Pokemon land and Bayleef charges towards Mew.
"Wait, Bayleef! Take it easy!" Mew calls out.
Bayleef ends up Tackling Mew again and sends her into the water, getting everyone's attention.
"Are you alright Mew?" Molly asks, worried.
"I'm okay," Mew says.
Bayleef walks over in remorse, "Bayleef," (Sorry.)
Mew gets out of the water, "It's okay, Bayleef. You just got a bit too excited."
Bayleef then uses Vine Whip to pick Mew out from the water and places her trainer next to her. Bayleef then nuzzles Mew, another way of saying how sorry she is.
"I know you're sorry Bayleef. But you need to remember that you just evolved, so your body is bigger, and you got more powerful than your old Chikorita self. Just remember to think and try not to tackle everyone in sight. Okay," Mew says.
Bayleef nods in reply.
Soon, Brock and the others approach.
"Mew is right. It's gonna take a little practice for you to control your powers," Brock says.
"You just evolved not long ago, so you still need time to get used to your new form," Misty says.
Bayleef nods, taking her trainer and friends' words to heart.
Misty giggles and turns to Mew, "You know Mew, that's probably the way she shows affection and she just doesn't know her own strength yet."
"Tackling you must be Bayleef's way of saying 'I Love you'!" Brock happily says.
"Huh...?" Everyone replies, confused.
"Love can be painful, Mew! Bayleef wants you to fall for her, and fall hard! That's probably why she's using her Tackle attack!" Brock says.
"Brock, I think you're having a goofy attack…" Misty says.
"It sounds kind of silly," Molly says.
Later, everyone is getting ready to have lunch. Brock is making stew, while Misty and Jen set up the table.
"Well, stew's ready," Brock says.
"Alright. I just hope it tastes as good as it looks, Brock," Tomo says.
Mew then brings the Pokémon their food, Totodile gets in the way
Come on, take it easy, Totodile! You're gonna make me spill it!" Mew says.
Bayleef soon comes running, but stops and thinks about what would happen if she runs in and decides to walk slowly.
"Quit jumping around, Totodile! This stuff is hot!" Mew says.
Mew notices Bayleef, "Hi Bayleef, can help with Totodile. He's excited as a Spoink and I don't want to drop the soup.
Bayleef nods and uses her Vine Whip to pick him up.
Mew sighs in relief, "Thank you."
And with that, Mew and the others have finished setting everything up.
"Looks like we're all set," Brock says.
"Okay everyone, time to eat," Mew says.
And with that, everyone begins eating. Mew then turns to see Bayleef is sitting beside her.
Mew says, "Hey Bayleef, maybe after we're done eating we can train a bit. You know, help you adjust."
"Bayleef!" (Okay!) Bayleef happily says.
Sometime after lunch, Mew is with Eevee and Pikachu to help Bayleef with some training. One to help her not get too rough, and to help Bayleef adjust to her new body and power.
"Okay Bayleef, use your Tackle Attack!" Mew calls out.
Bayleef charges for the attack.
"Pikachu dodge and use Thunderbolt!" Mew calls out.
Pikachu dodges the attack and uses Thunderbolt, but Bayleef spins the leaf on her head to deflect the attack.
"Nice defensive attack, Bayleef," Mew says.
"Pika Pi," (Nice thinking.) Pikachu says.
Bayleef feels happily proud of herself.
"Now give out your Swift Attack Bayleef," Mew calls out.
Eevee gives out her Swift Attack, Bayleef dodges the attack and the Swift Attack flies to the bushes and trees. And suddenly, out of the bushes are a group of Beedrill.
"BEEDRILL!" Mew exclaims in a panic.
Then screams, "RUN!"
And with that, Mew and her Pokemon begin to run for their lives to escape the swarm of Bee Pokemon. Just then, Bayleef slips when a piece of the edge breaks off, and Bayleef falls into the river with strong currents and it whisk her away.
"Bayleef!" Mew cries out.
Bayleef tries to keep her head up, but the current is too fast for her.
Mew turns to her Pokemon, "Guys, find the others! Tell them what happened! I'm after Bayleef!"
Pikachu and Eevee agree and hurry back to the others.
Mew then dives into the river and swims to Bayleef.
"Hang on, Bayleef! I'm coming!" Mew calls out.
Mew soon reaches Bayleef and hangs on to her as she and Bayleef are being carried away by the river's fast current.
Meanwhile, Misty and the others are packing up their things and are getting things ready to continue on their journey.
Suddenly, they hear Pikachu's voice, "Pika! Pika!" (Help! Help!)
"Eevee Eevee Eevee!" (Me and Eevee are in trouble!) Eevee cries out.
The rest of the group turns to see Pikachu and Eevee running towards them in a panic.
"Pikachu and Eevee?" Mew replies.
"Something's wrong," Brock says.
The two Pokemon return to the others and are exhausted from all the running. The two Pokemon talk in a panic.
Jen says, "One at a time you guys."
"What happened? Where's Mew and Bayleef?" Misty asks.
Pikachu and Eevee each explain what happened.
Understanding what they say, Tomo is shocked, "Oh no! Bayleef fell in the river after being chased by Beedrill! Mew jumped in the river after her!"
"OH NO!" The girls exclaim.
"We gotta go to that river," Brock says.
"Let's hurry!" Misty says.
And with that, the rest of the gang follow Pikachu and Eevee to the river where Mew and Bayleef are in. Unknown to them, Team Rocket spotted them.
"I wonder why da tweprs and dere Pokemon are in such a big hurry," Meowth replies.
"It appears they're trying to catch Pikachu and Eevee. Or simply following them," James says.
"And what happened to the other twerpette," Meowht replies.
"Well, in either case, they're all in for a major disappointment because we're the ones who are going to catch Pikachu and Eevee, and maybe whatever they're doing." Jessie says.
"Okay, Jess," Meowth replies.
Then James asks, "What's da plan?"
"Just leave it to me, team," Jessie says.
Meanwhile, an elderly woman with her gray hair in a bun, wears a long blue well dress and her Machoke are seen walking along.
"The wildflowers are more beautiful than ever, don't you think so, Machoke?" the woman says.
Machoke agrees, but then they both spot Mew and Bayleef washed up on the river bank
The woman is shocked, Oh, my! An injured trainer and her Pokémon!"
Meanwhile, Pikachu and Eevee lead the others to where Bayleef has fallen in the river.
"Pika. Pikachu. (This is where Bayleef fell.)
"Eevee Eevee Eevee Eevee," (And a little further where Mew separated from us.) Eevee says.
Tomo translates, "Pikachu said that this is where Bayleef fell. Eevee also says that Mew separated from them a little further.
Brock turns to where the current heading, "And they must have got carried downstream!"
"Let's go, we gotta hurry!" Jen says.
Everyone agrees and hurries down the river to follow the current.
Meanwhile, Bayleef awakens to find herself wrapped in a blanket beside a fire. She turns to see Mew is laying on the couch nearby. Bayleef soon remembers that Mew jumped in the river to save her, but wonders how they both end up here. Bayleef's question is answered when the elderly woman and Machoke that saved them enter the room, carrying a tray with two bowls of hot stew on it.
"We thought you might like something to eat after your nap," The woman says.
"Ma." (Here.) Machoke says, and places one of the bowl down in front of Bayleef
"It's a nice, hot stew we made from fresh vegetables grown right here in our garden," The woman says.
Bayleef has a taste, likes it and chows down.
"There's plenty more stew in the kitchen if you'd like a second helping," The woman says.
Bayleef's expression turns to sadness and turns to see Mew still sleeping on the couch.
The woman turns to where Bayleef is looking, "I assume you're worried about your trainer."
Bayleef nods in reply.
"Do not worry, your trainer will be fine. I'm sure she'll wake up soon," The woman says.
And right on cue, Mew's voice softly speaks up, "Bay-Bayleef."
Everyone looks to see Mew opening her eyes and sits up.
"Bayleef…" Mew says, softly
The woman walks to Mew, "Oh good, you're awake. Your Pokemon is worried."
"Oh um, hello," Mew says, noticing the old woman.
Then Bayleef walk over, "Bay," (Mew.)
"Bayleef, you're okay," Mew says, relieved.
Bayleef nuzzles her a bit with glee. Mew smiles and rubs her head.
"I can tell you really love your Pokemon," The woman says.
Then Machoke hands Mew the other bowl of soup.
"Here is some soup for you. They're made from vegetables that I grew in my garden," The woman says.
"Oh thank you," Mew says, and takes the bowl.
Mew takes a sip of the soup and says, "The soup tastes delicious."
"I'm glad you like it. My name is Haruno, it's nice to meet you," The old woman says.
"It's nice to meet you, Haruno. My name is Mew," Mew says.
Bayleef nods happily, and then notices a Bellossom and a Skiploom by the door.
The old woman notices them There you are, there's nothing to be afraid of. Come and introduce yourselves to our new friend, Bayleef and her trainer, Mew"
The two Pokemon come out of hiding.
The woman says to Bayleef, "Bayleef, these are my friends Bellossom and Skiploom. Aren't they adorable?"
Bayleef agrees.
Meanwhile, everyone comes to a stop, and clearly worn out.
"We've been looking for almost an hour!" Brock says.
"And we haven't seen a sign of Bayleef anywhere," Misty says.
"Or Mew," Molly adds.
"But we gotta keep looking," Tomo says.
"But they could be anywhere by now," Jen says.
Togepi then spots something, and the group turns to see the house.
"Hey. Maybe somebody in that house saw Mew and Bayleef go by," Misty says.
Soon, the gang reaches the door.
Tomo calls out, "Hello."
"Hello," Jen calls out.
"Nobody's home," Mew says.
Soon, Bayleef is heard. Bayleef is revealed to be in the garden with the other Pokemon who live with Haruno.
Haruno turns to Mew, "your friend, Bayleef, is stronger already."
"She sure is," Mew says.
"Machoke." (Seems so.) Machoke agrees.
That's when Misty and the others head around back to find Mew and Bayleef.
"There's Bayleef!" Misty says.
"And Mew!" Molly happily says.
Mew and Bayleef turn to see the others.
"We've been looking all over for you, guys," Brock says.
"Hi guys," Mew says.
"We're glad to see you both are okay," Misty says.
Pikachu and Eevee are also relieved with Mew's other Pokemon. As they try to come closer, Skipploom gives Brock a light tackle. Then Skiploom reprimands the group for nearly walking through the flowers.
"Skiploom tackled you because you were able to walk through Haruno's flowers," Tomo says.
"Oh, I get it. We gotta be careful not to step on the flower beds," Misty says.
Brock says, "Sorry about that."
Skiploom nods with a smile.
Just then, Haruno walks over and says, "Excuse me! I'm sorry, but this isn't a public garden."
"Sorry, we didn't mean to trespass," Misty says.
"Yeah, we called at the front door, but nobody answered," Brock says.
"I'm Tomo," Tomo says.
"I'm Jen," Jen says.
"I'm Molly," Molly says.
"I'm Misty," Misty says.
"And Brock," Brock says.
"Well, I'm sorry for not answering the door when you arrived. My name is Haruno," Haruno says.
"It's okay. We were looking very hard to find our friends," Brock says.
"Oh, you must be very relieved," Haruno says.
Then Meew says, "Sorry to worry you guys."
"It's okay Mew. What matters is that you and Bayleef are okay," Misty says.
Bayleef happily walks to Mew gently and walks to the others to see that she's okay.
Then Haruno says, "I have an idea. Why don't you and your friends stay here for a little while and have some tea."
"Thanks Haruno," Mew says.
Soon enough, Mew and the others have some tea.
"This herbal tea is delicious!" Misty says.
"It tastes just like a garden smells," Brock says.
"I agree. It's really nice," Mew says.
"My Pokemon and I grow lots of different herbs and aromatic flowers. We all love gardening," Haruno says.
Bayleef is seen helping Skiploom water the plants while most of the other Pokemon either play or pitch in.
"The Pokemon like it here," Molly says.
"Yes, and I noticed Mew's Bayleef is particularly happy with its working in the garden," Haurno says.
"I can tell. It's nice that Bayleef is helping out, especially being in a garden. It's a great place for Grass Pokemon," Mew says.
"And it also helps Bayleef be gentle as well," Jen says.
"Yeah," Mew says. She then stands up, "I'm going to check on Bayleef and Skiploom."
Mew walks towards Bayleef who is helping Skiploom water the flowers.
"Hi Bayleef, how are you and Skiploom doing?" Mew asks.
"Bay Bayleef," (We're doing good.) Bayleef says.
"Skip Skiploom," (And Bayleef is a great help.) Skiploom says.
"That's good to hear," Mew says.
Then asks, "Anything I can do to help."
Both Bayleef and Skiploom shake their heads, letting Mew know that they have everything under control
A little later, Bayleef, Bellossom and Skiploom are using one of Bayleef's vines as a jump rope while Mew watches over them as she sits on the fence watching them play.
"You really care about your Pokemon and their feelings," Haruno says.
"I do. My Pokemon friends mean the world to me," Mew says.
"Then I'm sure Bayleef sensed it as well," Haruno says, "If you raise a flower with love and care, somehow the flower will sense that, and it will grow up to be strong and beautiful. The same thing happens with Pokémon."
"Thanks," Mew says.
Bayleef looks to see Mew and Haruno talk. Then turns to play with the other Pokemon.
Not too far away, Team Rocket spots the gardening Pokemon.
"Dat old lady's got a bunch of Pokémon doing all her gardening for her," Meowth says.
Maybe we should find out if she has Pokemon doing her cooking for her," James says.
Jessie sternly says, "Stop thinking about food, James! We've got a perfect opportunity to not only catch Pikachu, but all of those little gardening Pokemon, too."
Wobbuffet soon comes out, "Wobbuffet," (Brilliant!)
"Jessie, with all of those gardening Pokemon, we could start our own garden and have them grow all sorts of delectable fruits and vegetables and herbs and spices!" James says.
But Jessie says, "That's a very interesting fantasy, James, but don't forget, we're thieves, not farmers."
"But wouldn't it be wonderful to leave a life of crime behind and dedicate ourselves to planting and harvesting?" James says.
But Meowth says, "Dat sounds like woik. We better stick to stealing."
"My thoughts exactly. Let's get to it!" Jessie says.
"Wobbuffet!" (I agree!) Wobbuffet replies
Soon, a giant robot stomps towards the house, catching everyone's attention, which is revealed to look like a Bayleef.
"It's, a gigantic Bayleef!" Jen exclaims.
"That's a robot!" Tomo says.
And the Team Rocket Motto appears.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble beyond belief!
James:
Make it double beyond Bayleef!
Soon, the cockpit extends onwards to reveal Team Rocket in the machine.
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie.
James:
James.
Jessie:
Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!
James:
Surrender now, or prepare to fight!
Meowth:
Meowth! Dat's right!
Wobbuffet:
Wobbu! Wobbuffet! ("That's right! Oh, so true!")
Misty and Brock say, "It's them again!"
"Team Rocket!" Tomo, Jen, and Molly add.
"What do you losers want this time?!" Mew demands.
"We want what we've always wanted, twerp," Jessie says.
"We want Pikachu and Eevee, but we're also here to pick all those lovely, garden fresh Pokémon, toom," James says.
"Oh, what will they do?!" Haruno asks, worried.
"We'll pluck their pretty petals and luscious leaves and brew ourselves a pot of Pokemon tea!" James says.
Jessie and Meowth shout, "This isn't teatime! It's trouble time!"
"WOBUFFET! (Absolutely!) Wobbuffet says.
Jessie pushes her Pokemon down, "Engage the robo-Bayleef and let's get to work!"
"Roger!" Moewth says.
The cockpit goes back in its place. Then the robot rears back, everyone runs for it.
"Hurry, let's run for it!" Mew calls out.
Everyone amscrays as the robot destroys part of the fence.
"Robo-Bayleef, Vine Whip attack!" Jessie says.
"Roger! Coming up!" Meowth says.
With the push of a lever, vines extend and snare Pikachu, Eevee, Bellossom, Skiploom and Bayleef.
"They've taken my Pokémon!" Haruno panics.
"Yeah, they took mine, too!" Mew says.
Team Rocket laughs as they put the Pokémon in a containment tube.
"We just picked ourselves a pretty bunch of Pokemon!" Team Rocket cheers.
"WOBUFFET!" (Perfect catch!) Wobbuffet says.
Pikachu cries out, "Pika Pi!" (Mew!)
"Eevee!" (Mew!) Eevee cries out.
Bayleef cries out, "Bayleef!" (Help us!)
Skiploom calls out, "Skiploom!" (Haruno!)
"Bellossom!" (Haruno!) Bellossom cries out.
"Oh, please Oh, please, give us back our Pokémon!" Haruno begs.
"Out of our way!" Jessie says.
The robot rears up as Jessie yells, ready to attack, shocking Haruno and the others.
"Quick! You gotta move! Hurry!" Mew says.
But Haruno's Machoke steps in and saves her life.
"Isn't this simply wonderful? We've captured Pikachu, Eevee, and a whole potpourri of other Pokémon, too," Jessie says.
"We hit da jackpot. And da flower pot, too," Meowth says.
And James says, "We could quit Team Rocket and the Pokémon could provide us with plenty of aromatic herbs and relaxing remedies."
"WOBUFFET!" (Wonderful!) Wobbuffet agrees.
But Meowth says, "Dream on, nature boy!"
The robot turns and runs.
"Bye-bye! Thanks for the Pokémon!" Jessie calls out.
Haruno cries out, "My sweeties! My babies!"
Soon, while Skiploom and Bellossom call out for Haruno, Pikachu, Eevee, and Bayleef see Mew running after them.
"Pika Pi!" (Mew!) Pikachu cries out.
"You're not gonna get away from me! Give back those Pokémon!" Mew calls out.
Misty calls out, "Hurry!"
"Come on, let's follow em!" Brock says.
"Let's go!" Tomo says.
Everyone agrees and pursues Mew.
Up ahead, Mew spots another path and takes it to get to the high ground and run alongside the robot while Team Rocket laughs in triumph.
"Just hang in there, guys! I'm coming to get ya!" Mew calls out.
Soon, Mew has the high ground and is just alongside the robot. Ash jumps and lands on the leaf of the robotic Bayleef.
"Eevee! (Ash!) Eevee cries out.
Even Pikachu, Eevee, and the others are worried.
Team Rocket sees the goings on in the cockpit
"Look at that twerp! She's as stubborn as ever! Meowth, do what you have to to shake her off!" Jessie says.
"Dis oughta do it," Meowth says.
The robot starts bucking and kicking like it was in a rodeo with Mew holding on for dear life until she goes flying right into the containment tube holding the Pokemon.
Bayleef cries out, "Bayleef!" (Mew!)
Mew is able to land on her feet, "Okay, stay calm. I'll get you out of this thing.
Mew then begins to bang on the glass, but nothing happens, "This glass, is tough!" then backs up, "I'll get you out! Don't worry!"
Mew then tries to smash her way through the glass with a running start, but to no avail. Even Pikachu and Eevee try breaking the glass. Even Skiploom and Bellossom are trying to help.
"Stand back, I'm coming through!" Mew says, and tries to smash the glass again, but to no avail as she goes flying into the back of the robot's neck.
"Don't worry. I promise I'll get you out, no matter what!" Mew says.
Bayleef then begins to try to break the glass as well.
"Alright, Bayleef!" Mew says.
Mew then tries pulling the tube down while the Pokemon tries to smash it. Team Rocket soon noticed.
"My, they are being foolish, Meowth, aren't they?" Jessie replies.
And Meowth says, "Dey are if dey tink dey can get out of dat glass cage we built Jessie. After all, dat's plexiglass they're ramming into."
"Good think we had to foresight to use plexiglass to make it absolutely, positively unbreakable," James says.
Everyone keeps on trying to break the cage.
"Keep trying! Harder!" Mew calls out.
Soon, some screws on the bottom come loose and allow the tube cage to be lifted slightly before a Tackle from Bayleef breaks it loose all together.
"We did it!" Mew cheers.
Pikachu and Eevee leap into Mew's arms.
"You were great, Bayleef. You were all great!" Mew says.
Both Skiploom and Bellossom appreciate the compliment while Team Rocket can't believe what they see.
"I thought the plexiglass made it absolutely, positively unbreakable!" Jessie says, shocked.
James says with the same expression, "It was, Jessie. It just wasn't absolutely, positively, unshakeable!"
"Guess we shoulda made it absolutely, positively unbreakable and absolutely, positively, unshakeable," Meowth says
"Wobbu! ("I guess!") Wobbuffet agrees.
Then Jessie says, "Let's get out of here before that twerp causes even more trouble!"
"You got it, Jessie," Meowht says.
But Mew says, "Bayleef, use your Razor Leaf! Pikachu, use your Thunderbolt! Eevee, use your Swift!"
All three Pokemon perform the attack, cutting a slit in the neck of the robot, allowing the electricity to travel through the robot and cause an explosion that short-circuits the controls in the cockpit
Jessie cries out, What's going on, Meowth?! What's happening to this thing?!"
I don't know! We're losing power! I can't control it!" Meowth panics.
Another explosion occurs, this time in the cockpit, bringing the robot to a stop.
"Bayleef, this way!" Mew calls out.
Mew and the Pokémon slide down the robot and reunite with the others.
"Mew!" Misty calls out.
"Everyone!" Tomo calls out.
"Are you okay?" Brock asks.
Everybody's fine," Mew answers.
All of Haruno's Pokemon reunite with their elderly friend.
"My babies! Me dear, sweet babies!" Haruno says, happy to have her friends back.
Back inside the robot, Team Rocket decides to resort to plan B.
"Those little twerps can't beat Team Rocket that easily!" Jessie says.
"Since we can't run away, we might as well stay and battle till the bitter end!" James says.
"Maybe we can beat em with our robo-Vine Whip!" Meowth replies.
"Attack!" Team Rocket says and pulls the lever.
The Vine Whip extends out of the robot and towards the group.
Mew then calls out, "Bayleef, get those vines with your Razor Leaf!
The attack launches and cuts the vines, to Team Rocket's shock.
"Pikachu! Eevee! Thunderbolt attack!" Mew calls out.
Both Pikachu and Eevee use the attack and zap Team Rocket, destroying the robot and sending Team Rocket flying.
"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.
"WOBBU!" (WHY US?!) Wobbuffet cries out.
Later, everyone bid their farewell to Haruno and her Pokemon.
"Thank you all, especially you, Mew," Haruno says.
"It's no trouble at all. Sorry that Team Rocket gave you trouble," Mew says.
Bayleef happily nods and nuzzles against Mew.
Mew giggles, "Thanks Bayleef. And you did a great job."
"Bayleef. Bay Bayleef," (You're welcome. And sorry for tackling you.) Bayleef says.
"Don't worry, I know it was an accident," Mew says.
"She sure has a lot more self-control than before," Brock says.
Mew then says, "Still, you should be really proud. You're able to have more self- control."
Bayleef nuzzles Mew. And then pins Mew down.
"Goodness me!" Haruno says, surprised.
Is Bayleef doing what I think she is?" Misty asks.
Brock soon says, "Mew, that looks like a Body Slam attack and Bayleef did it all by herself!"
"Hey, you're a quick learner, aren't you, Bayleef, old buddy?" Mew says.
Bayleef happily agrees.
