Episode 94: Doin' What Comes Natu-rally

Mew and her friends are back on the road to Olivine City for Mew's next gym battle. However, they've been walking on the road for some time, and are starting to get hungry. In fact, all six of their stomachs are growling.

"We gotta find food," Tomo says.

"Pika Pika," (I'm so hungry.) Sparkle replies.

"Eevee Eevee," (You're not the only one, Sparkle.) Eevee replies.

Seeing the guide book, Brock says, "We're in luck, guys! Looks like there's a town up ahead!"

"Where there's a town, there's a hamburger!" Jen happily says.

"I want a burger too," Molly says.

"I'd love a pizza," Misty says.

"Me too," Mew says.

"Maybe I'll have, a pizza burger!" Brock says.

"Good idea, Brock," Tomo says.

Just then, Mew notices, "Hey, look! Let's ask that kid how far the town is.

"Pika Pika!" (Good idea!) Pikachu says.

The group runs ahead to see a young boy in the grass. He has a beige color shirt with a red shirt underneath, hazel hair and blue eyes.

The boy says, "Let's try again, okay?"

And it turns out the boy is talking to his Pokemon, a Natu, a tiny, mostly green avian Pokémon with a nearly spherical body colored in accents of red, yellow, and black. It possesses brightly colored, yellow-and-red wings with thick black stripes. The wings are small and not fully-grown. Natu has a red crest on the top of its head, and its three-toed feet and three tail feathers are red as well. Natu also has almond-shaped eyes and a yellow beak.

"Now look straight at me. Please, Naughty," The boy begs.

"Hello," Mew calls out.

The boy becomes startled when Mew comes up from behind before turning to see her.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you," Mew says.

Then Brock notices, "Hey, isn't that a Natu?"

"It sure is," Mew says, and takes out her Pokedex.

Dexter says, "Natu, the Tiny Bird Pokemon. A Psychic and Flying Type. The Natu moves around by hopping and always seems to be staring at something.

Naughty starts flapping, as if either saying hello or trying to get out of its trainer's arms.

"A Natu. Cool," Jen says.

"I have a Natu too," Tomo says, bringing out his Pokeball.

He then lets out his Natu, and the Pokemon is resting on his shoulder.

"Naughty," The boy says.

"Naughty? Don't you mean your Natu?" Mew asks.

Then Misty says, "I see! Naughty must be the name you call your Natu."

The young boy gets up and runs away without saying a word.

"What's up with him?" Jen asks.

"Maybe he's shy. He seems flustered to see us," Mew says.

Sometime later, Mew and the others reach the town, when fireworks go off.

"What's this?" Tomo asks.

The gang enters the city to explore to see decorations, food stands, vendors, balloons, and lots of people walking around in excitement.

"Hey, cool. It's some kind of festival," Brock says.

Molly looks to see, "Look guys, Aipoms."

The group soon looks to see an Aipom performing.

Someone calls out, "Okay, Aipom, let's start the show! One, two, three and up!"

And as soon as the trainer counts to three, the Aipom climbs up ons tilts.

"That's my stilt-walking Aipom!" The Aipom says.

"Hey, what kind of festival is this?" Mew asks

"It's the Pokemon Street Performer Festival!" The trainer says.

"Pokemon Street Performer?" Jen replies, confused.

"Yeah. They have it here one day a year!" The trainer says

"We got here at the right time, didn't we?" Mew replies.

Pikachu and Eevee agree.

They also hear Brock agreeing before turning to see Brock eating some yakisoba."

"Hey! Thanks a lot!" Mew shouts.

"What happened to sharing?!" Misty says angrily.

Elsewhere, a Machoke is seen performing.

The female trainer says, "Presenting the mighty Machoke!"

And Machoke proceeds to break the chains that bind it.

"Awesome!" Tomo says.

Later, they see a Cubone is seen juggling bones.

"Now, Cubone will attempt to juggle four Bonemerangs!" The trainer says, and tosses the bone.

Cubone manages to juggle it with the other three. E

lsewhere, an Exeggutor is performing.

The trainer says as Exeggutor demonstrates, "This is Exeggutor's angry face! It's crying face! It's laughing face! And now take a look, at it's dizzy face!"

Everyone laughs hysterically.

Team Rocket soon spots Mew and the gang, more like the Pokemon performing.

"Say. If some of these performing Pokemon were handled properly, they could be big money makers,"

"Let's go and check around a little," Meowth says.

Jessie and James agree.

Then Team Rocket split up to see which Pokemon would be worth stealing.

Meanwhile, another Pokemon street performance is about to begin

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, step right up and see the mysterious Natu," A man in a blue outfit says.

Mew and the others arrive to see the performance.

"Hey. Another Natu," Tomo says.

The man says, "Now some of you may be familiar with a Natu and its mysterious stare. A far away gaze that has puzzled man for centuries. But the simple fact is, the Natu is peering into the future. This Natu sees the future, and for the price of one small coin, it can see your future."

": It must be like a fortune teller," Misty says.

Soon, a little girl steps forward, "Me! I want to!"

"Very well, young lady, "The man says. Then turns to his Pokemon, "Natu, do you feel you can successfully see into her future?"

Natu confirms and hops onto the young girl's head.

"Alright, Natu. Are you ready to begin?" The man replies.

Natu confirms.

Then the man says, "Now, young lady, if you would be so kind as to present a coin to my friend."

The young girl reaches into her pocket and gets one out, "Here." and hands it to Natu.

Natu takes the coin and hops back to its trainer.

Well done, Natu. Now, purify the offering," The man says.

Natu hops onto the edge of a trough and purifies the coin.

Then the man says, "Now, look into her light future, her dark future, her cloudy future."

As its trainer talks, Natu hops from rock to rock before hopping onto a perch.

"Consider them all carefully. Now, gaze into her near future," The man says, and asks, "Have you done this, Natu?"

Natu confirms.

"I. I believe Natu is seeing something," the man says.

"What's it seeing?" The little girl asks.

"First, Natu must place your purified coin offering in the box," the man says.

As the man talks, Natu hops onto said box and puts the coin is.

"Ring the bell," the man adds.

Natu does so.

"Clap twice." the man continues,

Natu does so.

Then the man says, "Alright, Natu! Future Sight!"

Then Natu performs the ability, and from the doors in front of it comes a scroll that levitates into Natu's beak, amazing our heroes before Natu hops onto its trainer's hand.

"Read it," The man says, and presents it to the girl.

The girl opens the scroll and says, "A flower blooms in the light. Did you hear that, mommy?"

"Maybe it means your dance solo in the school play will go well," The mother replies.

"That must be it. I'm sure you'll be the star of the show," The fortune teller says.

The young child runs up to her mother, happy with her fortune.

"What do you say, honey?" The mother asks.

Then turns to the Pokemon, "Thank you, Natu!"

Natu accepts the thanks.

"Now, don't be shy, who else would like his or her fortune told?" The fortune teller replies.

Misty soon rushes over in excitement, "Me! I would!"

"Next we have a cute girl with a cute Pokemon. And since this is a new reading, we'll try a new Natu!" The man says.

Then turns to his left, "McKenzie! Take the stage!"

Soon, the boy from before comes out.

"Hey! Look who it is!" Misty says.

"That's the boy from before," Tomo says.

"And his Natu, Naughty," Mew says.

McKenzie spots Mew and her group, and approaches the trainer, possibly his mentor.

"Alright, McKenzie, it's your turn," The man says.

"Okay," The boy, McKenzie says.

He then announces, "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! "

Then the man whispers, "We're past that part."

The audience laughs a bit.

"Now some of you may already be familiar with the Natu…" McKenzie says.

The man whispers too, "We're way past that part, too."

The audience laughs again as Misty gets out a coin.

"Oh, right. Natu, purify!" McKenzie says.

Natu heads to the trough without the coin.

"Now look into her light future, her dark future, her cloudy future!" McKenzie says, sounding flustered.

Misty says, "Hello?"

McKenzie notices that he forgot the coin, and panics, "I forgot the coin!"

The audience laughs again.

"Okay, McKenzie, I'll take over from here," The man says.

With Natu landing on his head, McKenzie nods and runs away.

"That went pretty badly," Misty says.

"Yeah," Tomo replies.

"I feel sorry for him," Mew says.

Then the man with his Natu walks over, "Would you like us to tell your fortune?"

"Thanks, but not right now," Misty says.

"We'll be back later," Mew says.

Then the group hurries off in the same direction McKenzie is going.

Meanwhile, McKenzie is lamenting his mess-up, "I'm sorry, Naughty. I ruined things again. It's nerves. That's my problem."

Excuse me," Misty calls out.

McKenzie is once again startled by the group and he goes tumbling down where he was sitting.

Soon, McKenzie explains his problem.

"Yeah. That is a problem," Mew says.

"I can't help it," McKenzie says.

"You get so scared when people look at you…" Brock says.

"That you and Naughty can't perform," Misty adds.

"Yeah," McKenzie replies.

"If you're scared of performing, why are you working with that guy?" Molly asks.

": That guy's my father," McKenzie says.

"He's excellent," Misty says.

"Yeah," McKenzie says, "Dad's pretty famous for his Natu fortune telling. I've been watching him perform ever since I was a baby and I want to be as good as he is someday."

"I bet you will be, McKenzie," Misty says.

"Maybe," McKenzie says, "I know the whole act by heart, but when I get in front of an audience, I just choke. It's my problem, but now it's Naughty's problem, too."

"Well, maybe we can help McKenzie. I help Pokemon with their troubles, and well, maybe some trainers as well. I'm sure we can help," Mew says.

Then introduces herself, "My name is Mew, it's nice to meet you."

"My name is Tomo," Tomo says.

"I'm Jen," Jen says.

"And I'm Molly," Molly says.

"My name's Misty," Misty says.

"And I'm Brock. Nice to meet you," Brock says.

"We'll help you out, McKenzie," Mew says

"I have an idea that might work!" Misty says.

"Thanks a lot!" McKenzie happily says, feeling pleased.

Meanwhile, James is wandering around the festival grounds, "There sure are lots of great Pokemon around here."

"Hey James!" Meowth calls out.

James looks to see Jessie and Meowth approaching them.

"Have you seen the tricks these Pokémon can do? And they get paid for them," Jesie says.

Hearing that, James says, Say. Maybe we could get paid too if we make Meowth do some tricks."

"I ain't no magician!" Meowth says.

"As usual, you're thinking small," Jessie says.

"Why should we settle for small change when we can steal all dem Pokémon and go for gold?" Meowth replies.

And Jessie says, "Once we have a talent pool of Pokémon performers, we can create our own Team Rocket production company."

"Sounds like a big production," Meowth says.

Then Jessie says, "We're going into show business. Let's show those Pokémon we mean business!"

Meanwhile, Misty puts her plan to help McKenzie into action by handing him a Wooper mask

"Here you go," Misty says, holding the mask.

"What's that for?" McKenzie asks.

"If you wear a mask, people won't see your face and maybe you won't get nervous," Misty says.

"Yeah, and Pokemon react to their trainer's reaction. So if you're not nervous, chances are, Naughty won't be nervous, either," Brock says.

McKenzie tries the mask on.

"How is it?" Misty asks.

At first, McKenzie is startled, until he realizes the group can't see his face.

Hey! I think this might work!" McKenzie says.

"Great! Then let's start practicing with your Natu," Mew says.

Okay!" McKenize says with a nod.

Soon, they get to work as Naughty hops onto a swing set

McKenzie says, "I believe Natu is seeing something!"

Naughty confirms.

"Alright. First, Natu must place the purified coin offering in the box," McKenizie says.

Naughty does so.

McKenzie adds, "Now, ring the bell."

Naughty does so.

McKenzie says, "Clap twice!"

Naughty does so.

McKenzie calls out, "Future Sight!"

Naughty stares off into space.

"It's going great so far," Misty says.

"That mask is really helping," Brock says.

"Yeah, now let's see how Naughty does," Mew says.

Naughty's eyes start glowing and the box in front of it starts to shake.

"Come on! You can do it!" McKenzie says.

That's it, Naughty. Get that fortune," Misty says.

However, nothing comes out of the box, leaving the group confused.

"What happened?" Tomo asks.

"It didn't work!" Jen says.

Embarrassed, McKenzie says, "I guess Naughty haven't practiced Future Sight as much as we should've."

"Well that shouldn't be too hard, you just need to practice it," Mew says.

"Maybe it could learn Future Sight better if you could raise its level," Brock says.

"And the best way to raise its level is by battling," Tomo says. "Come on, we'll battle with you!"

McKenzie removes the mask, "Battle?" He then gets nervous and puts the mask back on.

"He's afraid to battle, too," Misty says.

Then Brock says, "Maybe you'd be stronger if you wore the mask when you perform."

"I don't know. People might laugh at me," McKenzie says, embarrassed.

Suddenly, someone says, "I think that's a fine idea."

Everyone looks and sees McKenzie's father.

"Dad!" McKenize says, surprised and removes the mask.

McKenzie's dad says, "I'm for anything as long as it pleases the audience. A mask might make the act more entertaining."

"I guess," McKenize replies.

"And the more you perform, the better you'll get," McKenize dad says.

"That's right! Like how Pokémon get better by battling!" Mew says

"And maybe you'll get over your stage fright!" Brock says.

"Yeah. Why don't you give it a try, McKenzie?" Mew says.

"Well…" McKenize says, and puts the mask on "I guess it couldn't hurt to try."

Later, McKenzie is seen doing his act.

McKenzie calls out, "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, step right up and…"

Mew and her friends watch from the alley.

"At least McKenzie's getting off to a good start," Misty says.

"He doesn't seem nervous at all," Tomo says.

McKenzie calls out, "Introducing Naughty the Natu!"

However, Naughty is nowhere in sight.

The boy searches around, "Naughty? Hey, Naughty! Where are you?! Naughty!"

When McKenzie turns around, its revealed that Naughty was clinging to his back, prompting Mew and her friends worry while the audience laughs

"I think he's only acting," Brock says.

"I think you're right," Mew says.

"That's funny. Naughty was here just a second ago," McKenize says, and calls out, "Naughty?! Yo, Naughty! Yo, Naughty!"

The audience keeps laughing. Even Tomo, Jen, and Molly begin laughing.

"The crowd loves it," Misty says.

"They're doing the act their own way!" Brock says.

"Well, it's working," Mew says.

Even McKenzie's father likes the act.

McKenzie finally finds his Natu, "Oh, there you are, Naughty!"

As McKenzie speaks and the crowd laughs, Team Rocket takes to the air. Suddenly, a bomb drops behind the crowd, causing them to panic and run.

"Hey!" McKenize yelps and lifts up the mask, "What's going on here?!"

Team Rocket laughs with wicked glee as they hover overhead. And begin their motto.

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble and lots of thrills!

James:

Make it double if we have some spills!

"Team Rocket!" Mew and her friends cry out.

"Yeah, but not da Team Rocket you're used to seeing," Meowth announces, "Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to present the Rockin Rocket Trapeze Team!"

Jessie and James descend downward to street level.

"What are they pulling this time?!" Misty demands.

"Trouble that's what!" Mew says.

Jessie:

To protect the world from... (grabs one of the stilt walking Aipom) devastation!

Jessie tosses the Aipom upward and it lands in a net held out by Meowth.

James:

To unite all peoples, within... (grabs the comedic Exeggutor and tosses it up) our nation!

Meowth extends another net to catch the Exeggutor.

Jessie: (tosses up the juggling Cubone)

To denounce the evils of truth and love!

James: (tosses up a Hitmontop)

To extend our reach to the stars above!

Both Cubone and Hitmontop are soon caught.

Jessie:

Jessie!

The chain breaking Machoke is also seen captured.

James:

James!

Jessie:

Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!

James:

Surrender, now, or prepare to fight!

Meowth:

Dat's right!

The female trainer cries out, "That's my Machoke up there!"

"Losers! You're trying to steal all the performing Pokemon!" Mew shouts.

Jessie swoops down and snatches Naughty.

McKenzie cries out, "Hey!"

Landing in the basket, Jessie says, "Alright, James, finale time!"

"Here goes!" James says, and throws his Pokeball.

Then Weezing comes out.

James calls out, "Weezing, Smokescreen attack!"

Weezing performs the attack, blinding the crowd, including Mew and the others.

Misty throws her Pokeball, "Poliwhirl, I choose you!"

Poliwhirl then comes out.

Misty calls out, "Bubble attack!"

Poliwhirl performs the attack and the smoke is cleared, but Team Rocket has already escaped.

"They got away!" Tomo says.

Elsewhere, Team Rocket has landed with their catch.

James cheers, "We did it! We did it!"

"We're gonna be rich!" Meowth cheers.

"That's right, celebrate while I do all the dirty work," Jessie says.

Meowth and James are puzzled.

"What dirty work, Jess?" James says, confused.

Jessie is seen getting Cubone to put its paw print on a contract.

"The Pokemon talent contracts," Jessie says, "Don't you realize that show business is part show and part business? All performers have to be under contract. Otherwise, how would we know how much they'd get and how much we get?"

"Oh," James replies.

"This spells out everybody's percentages," Jessie says.

Then Meowth asks, "What percentage do we get to keep, Jessie?"

"We keep 90%" Jessie says.

"Jessie, those Pokemon get to keep 10%?" Jessie says, confused.

"Of course not. We're agents, so we get a 10% commission," Jessie says.

"What?" James says, confused.

"Dat sure don't leave much for da Pokémon," Meowth says.

Then Jessie says, "I'll be the head of Pokémon Performer Productions! I'll put these Pokemon in movies, concerts, television! And we'll be raking in the money!"

"Will we be able to buy whatever we want?" James asks.

"Of course!" Jessie answers.

Then James says, "Just think. Every day, I could have instant soup, instant noodles, instant potatoes, instant pudding, instant everything! Get these Pokémon performing this instant!"

"Let's do it!" Jessie says.

Suddenly, Machoke tries to break its bindings and manages to do so, to the shock of Team Rocket, before running away.

"Hey! Come back here!" Jessie shouts.

"Forget it, Jess. We got plenty of talent left," Meowth says.

"Meowth's right, let's take the Pokémon we've got and run!" James says.

Meanwhile, Mew and her friends are looking for the captured Pokemon with their trainers.

"I'll do anything to get Naughty back, Mew. Anything!" McKenzie says.

"Yeah, me, too!" One trainer says.

"So would I!" Another trainer says.

"I want mine back, too!" The third trainer says.

"Don't worry, we'll get your Pokemon back for you," Mew says.

Suddenly, they hear and see Machoke coming.

The female trainer is really relieved, "That's my Machoke! Oh, Machoke, however did you get away!" and hugs ir.

"Where are the other Pokémon, Machoke?" Mew asks.

"Machoke," (Over there.) Machoke answers, pointing in the direction it came from.

Just then, Team Rocket's balloon is taking off.

"Hey! You come back here!" Mew shouts.

"Hey! It's the twoips!" Meowth says.

"Sorry, that's show business!" Jessie says.

They're our Pokémon!" James says.

"No way!" Mew says, and throws her Pokeball, "Bayleef, I choose you!"

Bayleef comes out of the Pokeball.

"Bayleef, use Razor Leaf!" Mew calls out.

Bayleef launches the attack and cuts the net, freeing the Pokemon. Team Rocket notices.

"There goes our entire stock company!" James cries out.

"We still got one left, let's get outta here!" Meowth says, revealing that he still has Naughty the Natu.

On the ground, everyone but McKenzie is reunited with their Pokemon

"They're all back, except Naughty," McKenzie says.

"Oh, no!" Tomo panics.

"It must be up there!" Brock says.

"Bayleef, use Razor Leaf on that balloon!" Mew calls out.

Bayleef does so, causing the balloon to crash right outside a preschool as the teacher and kids come running while McKenzie goes to get his Pokémon.

"Naughty!" McKenzie calls out and picks up the cage, "Naughty."

Soon, Team Rocket comes out from under the balloon.

"Let's at least get that Natu back!" Meowth says.

"Arbok, I choose you!" Jessie says and throws her Pokeball.

Determined, McKenzie says, "Your Arbok doesn't scare us. Ready to battle, Naughty?"

Naughty agrees as the children start to cheer them both on while Mew and the others hurry over.

"McKenzie!" Mew calls out.

Arbok charges in.

McKenzie calls out, "Naughty, use Teleport!"

Naughty soon disappears before reappearing behind Arbok.

McKenzie calls out, "Now, Peck attack!"

Naughty pecks away as the children cheer

"Go, Victreebel!" James says and throws his Pokeball.

Victreebel comes out, but tries to eat James.

James cries out, "Victreebel, please! Not in front of the children!"

The children keep cheering.

"Victreebel, stop that Natu!" James calls out.

Victreebel charges and knocks Naughty away from Arbok.

"Hey, two against one's not fair!" Tomo says.

Then calls out, "Alright Natu, use Swift!" Tomo calls out.

Tomo's Natu performs Swift and nails Victreebel as the children cheer Arbok steps up and Naughty does the same.

McKenzie calls out, "Naughty, use Confuse Ray!"

Arbok is soon put under Naughty's control and slithers back to Team Rocket

"Wait, Arbok! What are you doing?" Jessie panics.

"It's coming right for us!" Meowth cries out.

"WOBUFFET! (That's not good!) Wobbuffet says.

Jessie cries out, "Be quiet, you blue, blabby blob!"

"Do it, Bayleef!" Mew calls out.

Bayleef mule kicks Victeebel right at Arbok and it lands on top of both Arbok and Team Rocket.

"Okay, Pikachu, Eevee, Thunderbolt attack! Bayleef, Razor Leaf!" Mew calls out.

McKenzie calls out, "Naughty!"

"Natu!" Tomo calls out.

Then both boys call out, "Psyshock!"

All the Pokemon perform the attack and hit Team Rocket, causing an explosion that sends Team Rocket flying.

"Why?! Why did my Team Rocket Production Company have to fail so miserably?!" Jessie cries out.

"Well, you know what dey say, Jess: Dere's no business like show business," Meowth says.

"And we've got no show to show!" James says.

Team Rocket cries out, "We're blasting off again!"

"WOBUFFET!" (Not again!) Wobbuffet screams.

Tomo turns to McKenzie, "We did it, McKenzie!

"Yeah!" McKenzie agrees.

Broc turns to the teacher, "Sorry for the interruption, miss. You see, a bunch of Pokemon got kidnapped from the street performer festival."

"The street performer festival?" The teacher questions, "Are any of the Pokemon street performers here with you?"

"Yes," McKenzie says.

Teacher asks, "I know it's a lot to ask, but could you put on a little show for the children here? They all know about the performers and I wanted to take them to see the festival, but it's too far for us to travel in one day."

McKenzie's dad says, "Say no more," and turns to his son, "McKenzie, you're on. It's showtime, son."

The children start cheering McKenzie on. McKenize blushes, but decides to go for it.

Soon, McKenzie's show begins.

McKenzie announces, "Boys and girls, it's my pleasure to introduce to you, the sensation of the Pokemon Street Performer Festival, my mysterious friend, Naughty the Natu!" Then turns to his Pokemon, "Are you ready to shoe the girls and boys what you can do, Naughty?"

Naughty confirms and hops onto a perch.

"I think Naughty already sees something! Alright, Naughty, you know the routine! Ring the bell…" McKenzie says.

Naughty does so.

McKenzie calls out, "Then claps twice…"

Naughty does so before staring at the box in front of him.

McKenzie calls out, "Future Sight!"

Naughty uses the move, and after some concentration, the fortune comes out and into its beak while the kids cheer and McKenzie removes his mask.

McKenzie cheers, "Alright!"

"They did it! Naughty's Future Sight worked!" Tomo cheers.

"That battle must've raised Natu's level!" Brock says.

And Misty notices, "And look, the mask! McKenzie took it off!"

McKenzie's dad then says, "Experience can be difficult, but it teaches Pokemon and people how to grow."

"Right!" Everyone agrees.

Thanks to some help from Mew and his friends, McKenzie was able to get his Natu back and gain the confidence he needed to perfect his performance. Mew and her friends continue on their way as they say goodbye to McKenzie, his dad, and Naughty as they continue on their journey to their next adventure.
