Episode 99: The GS Ball Mystery

Mew and her friends continue their journey to Olivine City for Mew's next gym battle. They've been walking a long way up the hill to see a nice town over the horizon where there are lots of trees.

"Wow. This place looks really peaceful," Misty says.

"Pika Pika," (And there are so many trees.) Pikachu says.

"You're right Pikachu, there are a lot of trees," Mew says.

"Loetta Loetta?" (The place is lovely, what's this town called?) Meloetta replies.

Tomo turns to Brock, "Hey Brock, Meloetta's wondering what this town is?"

"Let's see…" Brock says, looking at the guide book, "That's Mistletoe Town. The town is not a big town, but it's very peaceful, and it's known for Mistletoe Trees growing in the area, especially during winter."

"That sounds romantic," Misty says.

"And very pretty," Molly adds.

Suddenly, Tomo's stomach begins to growl, causing him to blush.

"Sorry guys, but I'm really hungry," Tomo says.

"According to the guidebook, there's a Pokemon Center here. We can grab something to eat and spend the night there," Brock says.

"Good night. And maybe we can also send some of the Pokemon to our homes, and have some of them come with me to help them train" Mew says.

Misty giggles, "I think you're right. We've been catching a lot of Pokemon lately. My bag has been getting kind of heavy. I think I'll do it too."

"Me too. Even my backpack is getting heavy. I'm sure Mama Kangaskhan and my sister would like to be at the lab for a while," Tomo says, looking at his backpack.

"Maybe I should switch some of my Pokemon. My brother and sisters could also practice training them," Brock says.

"And I'm sure some of my Pokemon would like to be with my sister for a while, and some of the other Pokemon there," Jen says. "We can also use the time to stalk up on more supplies."

Great idea, let's go," Brock says.

The group begins to make their way to the Pokemon Center in Mistletoe Town.

Moments later, Mew and her friends arrive at the Pokemon Center. They first walk to the front desk to see Nurse Joy and her Pokemon assistant, Chansey.

"Hi Nurse Joy," The girls say.

"Hello, and welcome to the Pokemon Center," Nurse Joy says.

Brock comes over with love in his eyes, "Hi Nurse Joy, it's a real pleasure to see you. Maybe you and I can go out on a walk to see the Mistletoe Trees. And maybe we can share a pleasant kiss…"

Misty then grabs Brock by the ear and pulls him away, "Be careful, Mistletoes will poison your lips if you're not careful."

Mew sighs, "Same old brock."

"Eevee," (You said it.) Eevee agrees.

Just then, Nurse Joy asks, "By any chance is one of you named Mew from Pallet Town?"

"Yes, Mew is me," Mew answers.

"I have a package for you," Nurse Joy says.

Tomo, Jen, and Molly reply confused, "A package?"

Even Misty and Brock are confused to hear it.

Nurse Joy then brings out a small package with an envelope attached.

"Here you go. It's a package from Azalea Town," Nurse Joy says.

Mew takes the package and says, "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Nurse Joy says.

Mew then turns to the others as Misty and Brock walk over.

"Who's the package from, Mew?" Misty asks.

Mew picks up the envelope and sees who's it from, "It's from Kurt."

Excluding Molly, everyone is surprised to hear the name.

"Really? It's been a while since we heard from him," Jen says.

"Who's Kurt?" Molly asks.

Brock looks down to Molly, "That's right. You weren't with us when we met Kurt. Kurt is a Pokeball expert and is even known for making Pokeballs out of Apricorns."

"And Apricorns are special fruits on the tree. Each of them is a different color so each of them is used to catch a specific Pokemon," Mew says.

"Mew and I got Blue Apricorns and they're used to catching Water Pokemon," Misty says.

"Brock used his Fast Ball to catch Pineco, and they're made from White Apricorn Balls," Mew says.

"That's amazing," Molly says, impressed.

"It sure was, and Kurt made them himself," Jen says.

Then Tomo asks, "But what did Kurt send you?"

"I don't know," Mew says.

She then presents the envelope to Pikachu and Eevee, "Can one of you hold this?"

"Eevee," (I'll do it.) Eevee says and holds the envelope in her mouth.

"Thank you, Eevee," Mew says.

Mew then opens the package and takes out a familiar gold and silver Pokemon.

That shocked everyone but Molly, "The GS Ball!"

"GS…? Ball…? What's that?" Molly replies confused.

"Oh right, you never saw it before," Mew says.

Then Misty suggests, "Maybe we should discuss this over lunch." Then looks to see Togepi rubbing his tummy, "Togepi is getting hungry."

"Pika Pika," (Me too.) Sparkle says.

Misty also notices, "I'm guessing you're hungry too."

Sparkle nods in reply.

"So are we," Tomo says.

Meloetta and Skwovet nod their heads in agreement.

A little while later, Mew and her friends, and even the Pokemon are having lunch in the Pokemon Center's cafeteria.

Molly soon asks, "So what is the GS Ball?"

"We don't really know, Molly," Jen says.

"Yeah. The GS Ball is really mysterious," Tomo says.

"How did you get it?" Molly asks, curious.

"Well, we were asked by Professor Oak to head to Valencia Island in the Orange Islands. The Orange Islands is where Jen lives before she started traveling with us. And her sister is officially part of the Orange Crew there," Misty says.

"Really?" Molly asks, amazing.

"That's right. I heard she's already getting different trainers, especially being able to battle prehistoric Pokemon," Jen says.

"Cool," Molly says.

She then asks, "So what happened when you arrived at Valencia Island?"

"Well when we arrived, we were able to meet with Professor Ivy…" But before Misty can continue. Mew covers her mouth.

The group soon notice Brock is sitting at the corner with his back facing them, and is sulking.

He says, sounding petrified, "Don't mention that name…"

"Eevee," (Oh no…) Eevee replies.

"Pika Pikachu," (Not again.) Pikachu adds

Confused, Molly asks, "What's wrong with Brock?"

"You don't wanna know," Tomo says with a sigh.

Mew then turns to Brock, "Come on Brock, we're talking about the GS Ball, not about you know who. So let's continue."

Brock quickly returns to his old self and sits with the others, "Okay."

"Um questions, can't you use one of those um, teleporter devices to transport the GS Ball?" Molly asks.

"Actually, she couldn't," Misty says.

"Really?" Molly asks, surprised.

"That's the reason why Professor Oak wanted us to go. She couldn't get it transported like a normal Pokeball could. It's very weird," Mew says.

"Mew's right, that GS Ball has been quite a mystery for all of us. I remember when we were first told about the GS Ball," Brock says.

Flashback 1: Valencia Island, Professor Ivy's Lab

"Well, there's the Pokéball," Professor Ivy says.

The group looks to see that this Pokeball is very different. It's gold on the top and it's silver on the bottom. And it looks like it has some initials engraved on it.

A little surprised, Mew says, "Wow! Sure is different."

"I never saw one like that before," Misty says.

"Pikachu/Eevee" (Me neither.) Pikachu and Eevee reply.

Meloetta, Skwovet, Togepi, and Pichu are curious about the Pokeball themselves.

Then Brock asks, "Why is it all gold and silver?"

"We haven't been able to discover the reason for that or very much else about the Pokéball, I'm afraid," Professor Ivy says.

Soon, Mew notices the symbol on the Pokeball, "G.S? What does that mean?"

Professor Ivy looks at it and says, "So you noticed. If you look closely, you can see the letters G S."

"I see it," Mew says.

"We don't know what G.S stands for. So we decided to call it a GS Ball," Professor Ivy says.

"A GS Ball," Mew replies, staring at the Pokeball.

Brock turns to Professor Ivy, "We heard you can't transport it."

Professor Ivy turns to the girls, "Would you demonstrate?"

Charity walks to the control and presses the button for the Pokeball to be teleported, but after that, the Pokeball remains. Mew and the others are a little surprised.

Professor Ivy says, "Naturally, we've tried to open it."

The girls nod their heads in reply.

Then Professor Ivy explains, "We've tried buzz saws, hammers, crowbars, hacksaws, power drills, and lasers! We've tried everything, but this Pokéball has us stumped!"

The girls nod their heads.

The Mew and the others turn to the Pokeball as Pikachu and the Pokemon look at it curiously.

"That is one stubborn Pokeball," Mew says.

"Yeah," Tomo replies with a nod.

Flashback 1 Ends:

"Wow. So the professor or the girls couldn't open it either?" Molly asks, surprised.

"Not at all. They told us they tried everything, but nothing worked," Misty says.

"And even after bringing it back to Professor Oak, even he couldn't figure out what the GS Ball is or where it even come from," Tomo says

Flashback 2: Professor Oak's Lab

Soon, Mew and the others enter the room.

"Hi Professor, how is scanning the GS Ball?" Mew says.

Then Misty asks, "Have you been able to figure anything out about the GS Ball yet?"

"Nothing so far," Tracey says.

"The only thing that we know about it is that it's made of silver and gold. I think," Mew says.

"Other than that, I'm totally stumped," Professor Oak says.

"Wow. If you can't solve the mystery… And Professor Ivy couldn't solve it, then…" Misty says.

Tracey taps on Misty's shoulder and looks behind him. Tracey does too. Misty does the same, and to no surprise…

Brock begins sulking, "That...name...!"

Misty sweat drops, "Oops."

"Misty, I'm just a Pokémon Watcher, but my advice is to watch what you say around Brock. Especially about you know who," Tracey replies.

"Right," Misty replies.

"I just can't figure out who made this GS Ball or why," Professor Oak says.

"It is a mystery," Mew says.

Flashback 2 Ends:

"Yeah. It's very weird that not even Professor Oak could figure anything out about it," Jen says.

"That's very odd," Molly says.

"And we were hoping to find some answers to the GS Ball when we got to the lab, but nothing," Misty says.

But Tomo then says, "But Mewtwo was able to learn something about it."

"What is it?" Molly asks.

"There was a Pokemon inside of it. I was shocked when Mewtwo was able to sense life within the GS Ball," Mew says.

Flashback 3: Professor Oak's Lab

The group nods their heads. Then everyone turns to see Young Mewtwo, still staring at the GS Ball. Mew and Professor Oak approach Mewtwo.

"So Mewtwo, what do you think of the GS Ball? It's mysterious huh," Mew says.

Mewtwo suddenly says, "There's… life…"

"Huh?" Mew and Professor Oak reply, confused.

Misty and the others become just as confused.

"Life? In the GS Ball?" Professor Oak asks.

"What do you mean?" Mew asks.

Mewtwo turns to them and says, "There's life in this Pokeball. It's faint, but I can sense a sign of life trapped inside."

"What does that mean?" Tomo asks.

"I think. It's not likely, but it seems possible. Of course, we can't open it, so there's no way of knowing," Professor Oak says.

"Why?" Jen asks.

"I think what Profesor Oak means is that, it's possible that…" Brock says. Then look at the GS Ball, "There might be a Pokemon trapped in the GS Ball."

"A Pokemon?" Misty says, confused.

"Is that even possible?" Tracey asks.

"Hmm, that possibility can't be ruled out, especially since Mewtwo can sense it. However, the origin and purpose of the GS ball is a complete mystery," Professor Oak says.

"I'm sure we'll figure something out," Tomo says.

Flashback 3 Ends:

"So there might be a Pokemon trapped inside of that GS Ball?" Molly asks.

"It seems so," Mew says. "It's not exactly easy to prove, but I'm willing to take Mewtwo's word for it."

"But even then, the Professor wanted to learn more about the GS Ball and so he decided to ask if we could take the GS Ball to Kurt, who is an expert when it comes to Pokeballs," Brock says.

"And he hoped that Kurt could come up with something about the GS Ball," Mew says.

"Did he find the answers?" Molly asks.

"He kind of did, in a way…" Mew says.

Flashback 4: Kurt's House

"Alright, it's clear that the ball is…" Kurt says.

"It's clear that the ball is...?" The group asks eagerly.

"Well, it is a kind of Pokeball that is made of silver and gold. And judging how it feels and weight, we can assume there must be something inside of it. Judging by the material made, someone must have struck genius when creating it. But as for what's inside… it is possible that it's a Pokemon," Kurt says.

"So then, there really is a Pokemon inside?" Mew asks.

"Possibly. I hate to disappoint you, but I don't know what kind could have been stored in there," Kurt says, "Well, once I've looked at it more closely I should be able to say more."

"Don't worry, you guys. If anybody can figure this out, it's my grandpa," Maisie says.

"Thanks a lot for trying to help us out, Kurt," Mew says.

Flashback 4 Ends:

"And after examining the Pokeball, we learned something interesting about it," Mew says.

Flashback 5: Kurt's House

"Indeed. Whoever created the GS Ball made it so that the Pokemon inside couldn't break free. Whoever created it must have used very strong material to make it possible," Kurt says.

He thinks a bit, "However, it might be possible that… hmmm…"

"What do you mean?" Jen asks.

"Well, there was a legend that took place around forty years ago, that was long before all of you were born," Kurt says.

"What is it, grandpa?" Maisie asks.

"We like to hear it," Tomo says.

"Alright then. I'll tell you the story," Kurt says.

Soon, everyone is sitting in the living room.

"This all took place forty years ago, back when I was around your age. There was a trainer who was once called the Masked Man, who was rumored to be a very strong trainer, but has a strong ambition. His ambition is to capture Legendary Pokemon," Kurt explains.

Everyone is shocked to hear it.

Kurt continues, "Rumor has it, the Masked Man was able to create a very special Pokeball using very special material that can capture a Legendary Pokemon with ease. Legend says that he managed to use the Pokeball to capture a Legendary Pokemon, but while he was out at sea. And it hasn't been seen since."

"So then, you think the GS Ball could be the very same Pokeball?" Misty asks.

"It's possible. I'll have to study it a bit more to make sure," Kurt says.

"So then that means the life that might be in the GS ball is a legendary Pokemon," Brock says.

"Yes. For now, we can't be sure if this GS Ball is the one from the legend. For now, we'll have to research it further to find out," Kurt says.

Flashback 5 Ends:

Molly is surprised, "Oh my."

"Yeah. It was shocking when Kurt told us about it," Misty says.

"If the rumor that Kurt told us was true, then it matches how the professor found the GS Ball at Valencia island," Mew says.

"That seems to be the case. They must have found it when it washed up at the beach near the lab," Brock says.

"It also seems possible considering the circumstances," Misty says.

"Still, I wonder what was in the GS Ball. We figure that it's a Pokemon," Jen says.

"And it's possible to be a Legendary Pokemon," Tomo says.

"Question is, which one, and how are we supposed to open the GS Ball. It's locked up tight," Mew says.

"And we don't know much about the mysterious Masked Man who has created the GS Ball either," Misty says.

"Well, maybe Kurt's letter might have the answer," Jen says

"Oh right, I haven't opened it yet," Mew says.

She then opens the envelope to see a letter inside. She then takes it out to see the letter from Kurt.

"What does it say?" Molly asks.

Mew then begins to read the letter.

Dear, Mew, Misty, Brock, Tomo, and Jen,

How is your journey across the Johto Region? I hope the package with the GS Ball is able to reach you at Mistletoe Town without any trouble. Since I've last seen you, I've continued to examine the GS Ball from top to bottom, and try to figure out ways to unlock it. However, the GS Ball has proven to be as difficult as I thought, until I've come across something astonishing. I was walking in the forest when I came across the Ilex Forest Shrine while in the Ilex Forest. Upon arriving, the GS Ball begins to glow a little, almost like it's responding to it. Legends has it, the shrine is made for a Legendary Pokemon. I've sent it to you because I believe you'll be able to get the GS Ball to a shrine similar to the Ilex Shrine, in a forest near Arborville. I believe the key to solving the mystery is there. Call me when you receive the GS Ball and continue on your journey."

From,

Kurt

"Take the GS Ball to the shrine in the forest of Arborville?" Mew says, confused and holds the GS Ball in her hand.

"And the GS Ball responded to the shrine in the Ilex Forest?" Tomo replies surprised.

"That appears to be the case," Brock says.

"Still, it's kind of weird that the GS Ball is responding to the shrine at the forest we went to a while back," Misty says.

"Yeah. That does seem weird," Mew says.

She then says, "Maybe after we're done eating, I could give Kurt a call."

Moments later, Mew calls Kurt on the Video phone.

"Hello Mew, Misty, Brock, Tomo, Jen," Kurt says.

"Hi Kurt, it's good to see you again," Mew says.

Molly then looks at the screen, but has trouble seeing. Brock picks Molly up so she can see.

"Hello my name is Molly," Molly says.

"Hello Molly, it's nice to meet you," Kurt says. Then turns to the group, "I see you all have gotten a new traveling friend."

"He sure does," Jen says.

"Hey Kurt, I got your package and letter," Mew says, holding the GS Ball, "And the GS Ball has safely been brought here in Mistletoe Town."

"Great. I'm glad to see that the GS Ball got to you all safely," Kurt says.

"Yeah. And we also got your letter saying that we should bring it to a shrine in a forest near Arborville," Misty says.

"That's correct. I believe that if you bring the GS Ball there, we might be able to get some answers about the GS Ball, maybe even opening it," Kurt says.

"Alright, we'll make sure to bring it there. We're still way to Olivine City so we'll probably get to Arborville on the way there," Mew says.

"That's good, Arborville should be on your way to Olivine City," Kurt says.

"Sounds good. Bye," Mew says.

Kurt and Mew hang up the phone.

"Sounds like we're going to get to Arborville before getting to Olivine City," Tomo says.

Brock looks up the guidebook and says, "Seems so. According to the guidebook, there should be a town a little farther from Mistletoe Town, and we can take the ferry to the other town, and the rest of the way, we can get to Arborville."

"Great," Tomo says.

Mew then holds out the GS Ball, "I hope when we get to Arborville we can figure out the GS Ball and what's inside."

"Us too," Everyone replies.

The Pokemon also agree as well, (Me too.)

After that, the group each have some of their Pokemon transported to their homes, while at the same time, switch them to some of the Pokemon they have at their homes, so they can train and travel with them for a while.

Later in the night, Mew and her friends are sleeping in one of the rooms of the Pokemon Center. They are sleeping so peacefully, they aren't aware that the GS Ball begins to show a dimmed glow in Mew's bag. The low glow soon reveals to be a small figure inside. It has its body curled up into a ball.

As the GS Ball glows, Mew is beginning to dream as she lets out a sigh.

In Mew's dream, she finds herself flying around in a large forest that looks somewhat similar to the Ilex Forest. The young trainer continues to fly around the forest and soon sees a beautiful large lake. She soon turns her left to notice a strange glowing blue figure, looking like a Pokemon standing on fours. She sees it jumping on the lake as it begins to glow and runs off into the woods.

"What is that?" Mew wonders.

Mew continues to fly through the forest and soon reaches a rather large shrine that looks a little similar to the shrine in the Ilex Forest, but it's larger and has small steps.

"That shrine looks like the shrine from the Ilex Forest," Mew says.

Suddenly, she heard something go, "Be…"

Mew turns her head to see a figure flying towards her, and it's glowing Pink. However, the figure is difficult to make out.

"Breeee beee beee…" The figure happily replies as it flies around Mew.

The young trainer smiles to see the figure flying around. Just then, the figure begins to fly deeper in the forest.

Mew calls out, "Wait, where are you going?!"

Suddenly, Mew hears a cry, "BEEEE!" (HELP!)

"Huh?" Mew replies, shocked.

Mew quickly flies over and comes to a stop to see the pink figure is trapped in some kind of net.

The figure cries as it struggles, "Beeeeee! Beeeee!" (Please! Someone help me!)

Whatever the net is made of, it's very difficult for the pink figure to escape. Mew soon looks ahead to notice a strange masked man that is difficult to identify has the GS Ball in his hand. Before Mew can react, the masked man throws the GS Ball and hits the pink figure, sucking it inside. Mew is shocked to see what is happening before her eyes.

Soon enough, Mew sits up in bed in shock. She wakes up in a cold sweat as she pants and soon signs in exhaustion.

"Are you okay, Mew?" Misty's voice speaks up.

Mew turns her head to see Misty sitting next to her on the bed.

"I'm okay. I just had a weird dream last night," Mew says.

Soon, Tomo and the others walk in the room to hear the conversation.

"What happened?" Tomo asks.

"I had a dream last night," Mew answers, "I was in this forest and I was flying over a lake to see a strange glowing blue Pokemon. It looks similar to the Pokemon we saw when we first came to Johto before reaching New Bark Town. And then I found a shrine that looks like the Ilex shrine, and I saw another Pokemon glowing pink flying around me. I couldn't tell what it was and it flew away. But then, I heard it scream and rush over to see a masked man with the GS Ball. He then threw it and caught the mysterious Pokemon. And that's when I woke up."

"That was some strange dream," Brock says.

"It was," Mew says.

She then wonders, "Still, what was that dream about, what were the two Pokemon I saw. And what was inside the GS Ball."

She sighs, "I do hope we find out when we get there."

"Me too. I'm very curious about it," Molly says.

"Come on, we better get ready. We already got plenty of supplies, food, and medicine. We'll grab some breakfast and we'll be heading on our way," Brock says.

Mew smiles and nods her head.

Sometime later, after having some breakfast, Mew and her friends leave the Pokemon Center and continue on their way to Olivine City, but first, they need to get to Arborville and hopefully solve the mystery of the GS Ball once and for all and to find out what it contains.
