Buckichamp A/N: SURPRISE! Didn't think we'd drop chapters on back-to-back weeks, did ya? Consider this a bonus treat before our next upload on Thursday, December 2. Chapter 12 is gonna have you on the edge of your seat, and potentially crying.
Anyway, on with Chapter 11!
—
The Symbol of Peace was on his morning commute. He occasionally stopped to help any nearby citizens when they were in trouble. Though he was pressing for time, as he was going to be late for a special event: The Unforeseen Simulation Joint.
He leaped into the air to aid the next person in need, hoping to finish it up quickly and move along. All Might strained a bit as he soared, feeling his body attempting to catch up with him,
I've clearly gotten slower. My powers have been weakening even faster since I gave One For All to Young Midoriya.'
'I'm pushing my hero form too far past the limits. Time is running short. Even if Young Midoriya is a suitable vessel now, he's still a 15 year old boy. I have to make sure I guide him well.'
News suddenly broke out about a hostage situation occurring across town. All Might groaned tiredly before making another jump. He knew he should get to school, but he also knew that he wasn't going to turn away from those that may need his help.
…
-UA High-
Back in class, with Iida now appointed as the class rep, Aizawa turned his attention back to the students once everything had settled down.
"Today's training will be a little different. You'll have three instructors. Me, All Might, and another faculty member will be keeping tabs on you," Aizawa announced.
'Three pros? Is that because of the break in?' Izuku wondered.
"Sir! What kinda training is this?" Sero asked.
The students were then faced with a card that Aizawa held up to them all that read,
"Rescue," Which the teacher also spoke aloud.
"You'll be dealing with natural disasters, shipwrecks, stuff like that."
"Rescue, huh? Sounds like we're in for a big workout," Kaminari commented.
The other students began to chat it up, excitement seething in their bones. Many couldn't wait to test out their abilities and see where their strengths and weaknesses lie.
"Guys, I'm not finished yet. What you wear in this exercise is up to you. I know you're excited about costumes…but keep in mind that you haven't gotten used to them yet, and they might limit your abilities."
Ryuko nodded, taking Aizawa's last sentence to heart. She still had work to do, but she felt confident that she was getting better with keeping up with the power that Senketsu exerted.
"This special training is at an off-campus facility, so we'll be taking a bus to get there. That's all, start getting ready."
'Rescue training. I've been waiting for this. It'll bring me one step closer to being the kind of hero he is. I'll do my best,' Izuku's hand locked into a fist tightly.
Ryuko began to walk past him and chuckled, "Excited to show what you're made of?"
Izuku nodded earnestly, "You bet."
…
Moments later, the students were piling up outside of the bus, waiting for others that may need to catch up. Iida would soon initiate a seating formation so that the transition would run as smoothly as possible. However, it turned out that the bus had a very different layout than the usual two-person seating arrangement. Iida sulked as his efforts went to waste.
"The bus' open layout ruined my boarding strategy..."
"Iida, you really need to chill," Mina attempted to console her classmate.
"If we're pointing out the obvious, then there's something I wanna say...about you, actually," Tsuyu turned her glances towards Midoriya specifically.
"About me? What is it, Asui?"
"I told you to call me Tsu."
"Oh. Yeah. Right," Izuku remarked with a rather bashful look on his face.
"That power of yours. Isn't it a lot like All Might's?" Tsuyu asked, which made the nearby students tilt their sights towards the suspected green hero. Ryuko's interest was piqued as well.
"What? Really? You think so, huh? I never really thought about that. I guess it's kind of similar…"
Crap! Tsuyu appeared to be connecting some dots. Next she would probably end up asking even more questions. What would Izuku do to cover up?
"Wait, Hold on, Tsu. You're forgetting All Might doesn't hurt himself. That makes a huge difference," Kirishima jumped into the conversation.
Izuku sighed in relief. Kirishima was definitely the saving grace as the ultimate wingman here. He is absolute hero material.
Ryuko looked around the inside of the bus, watching all of the students as they talked and got along with one another, even Izuku. She smiled, reminiscing the sense of comfort she felt when she first walked the halls of UA.
Honnōji's students were all straightforward and focused, almost like robots. This made everything feel practically hollow, with Mako being the only sense of life in the whole school. Now Ryuko was surrounded by that lifelike energy. It almost smothered her. But she could definitely get used to it.
"Sure, but Bakugo's always angry, so he'll never be that popular," Asui remarked, which clearly struck a nerve with said student.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?! I'LL KICK YOUR ASS!"
"You see?"
Izuku's skin began forming goosebumps once he saw Kacchan getting all riled up, while Ryuko snickered.
"Y'know, we basically just met you. So it's kind of telling that we all know your personality is flaming crap mixed with garbage," Kaminari delivered another blow towards Katsuki's ego.
"YOU'RE GONNA REGRET THE DAY YOU APPLIED TO THIS SCHOOL, YOU LOSER! I'LL KILL-"
"HA! I bet you're having some second thoughts after what happened at the Quirk Assessment Test!" Ryuko jumped onto the train of verbal assault that took place.
"SHUT IT, EXTRA! DON'T FORGET THAT YOU LOST TO ME IN THAT TEST!"
"REALLY? I only remember my fist still has a mark on your chin. How about I make a whole signature on your FACE?" Ryuko bared her fangs back.
Amongst all of this banter, Izuku held his head in a cowering position next to Ryuko. He was practically preparing for a natural disaster that could happen in this bus rather than the ones at the training facility.
'I can't believe what I'm hearing. Kacchan's the one in class who's getting teased. UA is so confusing!"
"This is such a disgusting conversation," Yaoyorozu covered her mouth, repulsed by the bickering.
"Yeah, but it's kind of fun listening to them fight," Uraraka remarked.
Soon the students had arrived and dismounted from the bus, only to be greeted by the Space Hero: Thirteen. She welcomed the students inside the facility, which opened them up to a massive industrial landscape, containing multiple disaster zones; Ruins, Landslide, Mountain, Conflagration, Flood, and Downpour. All encapsulated by the dome-like roof on top.
Ryuko was amazed by what was presented in front of her. Every zone looked absolutely breathtaking. She was actually quite excited to get started with the simulation.
"Hey, shouldn't All Might be here already? Lemme guess, he booked an interview instead," Aizawa asked Thirteen.
"Actually, it's something else. Apparently he did too much hero work on the way to school this morning and used up all of his power. He's resting in the teacher's lounge," Thirteen explained while holding up three fingers.
-Teacher's lounge-
"I'm sorry. I should be able to catch the tail end of the rescue exercises. I'll be there as soon as I can," All Might explained over the phone to Thirteen.
-USJ Facility-
"That man is the height of irresponsibility," Aizawa remarked.
"The clock's ticking, we should get started," Aizawa began to walk away before Thirteen stopped the students.
"Excellent. Before we begin, let me just say one thing. Well, maybe two things. Possibly three, four, or five."
"We get it!" The students collectively noted.
"Listen carefully. I'm sure you're aware that I have a powerful quirk. It's called Black Hole. I can use it to suck up anything and turn it into dust."
"Yeah, you've used Black Hole to save people from all kinds of disasters before, haven't you?" Izuku remarked.
"That's true, but my quirk could also very easily be used to kill."
The students were quite shaken up from Thirteen's analogy.
"Some of you also have powers that can be dangerous. In our superhuman society, all quirks are certified and stringently regulated, so we often overlook how unsafe they can actually be. Please don't forget that if you lose focus or make the wrong move, your powers can be deadly. Even if you're trying to do something virtuous like rescue someone."
"Thanks to Aizawa's fitness tests, you have a solid idea of your quirk's potential. And because of All Might's combat training, you likely experienced how dangerous your powers can be when used against other people. Carry those lessons over to this class. Today you're going to learn how to use your quirks to save people's lives."
"You won't be using your powers to attack enemies or each other, only to help. After all, that's what being a hero is all about. Ensuring the safety of others."
'Thirteen is so cool!' Izuku's body felt as if it was bouncing all over the place from the inside. He was absolutely moved by her speech.
Ryuko looked down at her Kamui and reminisced about the destructive power she possessed when she was fighting Satsuki. Many students at Honnōji were greatly injured on the sidelines, and she didn't even bat an eye in regard to their well-being.
She was a walking time bomb that brought destruction wherever she drew her sword. This was the perfect time to practice controlling how much power she would exert. She was already doing so during the Battle Trial, so she would now enhance that training here. The more that Ryuko could handle the duration of being in sync mode, the better.
Thirteen wrapped up her speech to the students and bowed, "That's all I have to say. Thank you so much for listening."
The students took her advice to heart and began to applaud the rescue hero's rousing speech. Everyone was pumped to begin their training to become pro heroes.
The cheers were then cut short as the electricity surged from the lights above before dimming. It appeared to be just a malfunction in the machinery as the water fountain also stopped functioning. A purple mist-like wormhole began to appear, which immediately took Aizawa's notice.
The mist then suddenly burst across the area, morphing from an expanding spiral to a large mass that spazzed out and spread like wildfire. A gateway then surfaced near the center as a hand began to emerge from the darkness, revealing an unnerving sight. Aizawa, being quick witted, immediately set his eyes on his students.
"Stay together and don't move! Thirteen, protect the students!"
The students were confused, some being frightened by the sudden change in their teacher's demeanor.
"Whoa, what is that thing?" Kirishima asked, which would set everyone's eyes on the people below near the fountain emerging from the wispy-black smoke.
"Wait, has the training started already? I thought we were rescuing people."
"Something's not right. Those guys look fishy," Ryuko began to step forward, trying to get a closer look at the crowd entering. Izuku also happened to be doing the same.
"STAY BACK! This is real. Those are villains," Aizawa ordered, which stopped the two dead in their tracks. Izuku looked over to his teacher before he saw him putting on his goggles. This was serious.
The students, minus Ryuko and a few others, were visibly shaken. This was real! These weren't hired actors. This wasn't a stunt put on by UA. These were real villains out to kill.
"Huh, I was already excited about just rescuing, but this is much better!" Matoi slammed her fist into her palm, cracking her knuckles in the process.
"What?! Seriously?! How crazy is this chick?!" A handful of the students blurted out as their mouths hung open.
'Welp, She did just transfer from Honnōji after all…" Both Iida and Izuku collectively thought.
"Don't be an idiot, Matoi. You don't know what you're dealing with," Aizawa reprimanded her.
"Hey, I-"
"Ryuko, you should listen to what he says. I'm feeling a murderous aura coming from these guys," Senketsu chided Ryuko, who then bit her tongue and shut her mouth.
"It's not like it's anything different from Satsuki," Ryuko pouted quietly.
"The only real heroes I see are Thirteen and Eraserhead. Perplexing. According to the schedule we retrieved from UA, All Might should be here as well," An ominous voice spoke from the mist.
"So you scumbags used the press as a cover and sneaked onto campus," Aizawa mused.
"Where is he? I went through the trouble of bringing so many friends who were eager to meet him. They want All Might. I can't believe he's not here," The faded blue haired villain remarked while tilting his head.
"Maybe if I kill a few kids, he'll come out to play."
It was on that day the students learned about what dangers the pro heroes were up against every day. The brutal obstacle they faced just to protect everyone. The students were looking straight into an abyss, and it stared right back at them. In this confrontation with suffocating darkness, they would pray that they wouldn't blink.
Everyone stood puzzled at how this many villains were able to breach into UA grounds without the security triggering. Todoroki came to the conclusion that there must be a villain that was able to mask the raid's presence. They had a clear objective here, now it was just the question of what it was.
With that in mind, Aizawa at least had some idea of what was happening. But for now, his priorities were set on the safety of his students.
"Thirteen, get them outta here. And alert the main campus. Actually, if they've got the ability to block our sensors, then they may be jamming our regular communications too. Kaminari, try using your quirk to contact the school."
"Yes sir," Kaminari followed Aizawa's instructions.
"What are you going to do? You can't fight them on your own!" Izuku addressed his concerns.
"There's too many of them. Even if you can nullify their quirks, your fighting style isn't suited for this. Your power works best in stealth and one-on-one fights. That's not gonna help with a group."
Ryuko listened to what Izuku was saying before looking back at her teacher. Even if he was a hardass, he was still a teacher that looked out for his students. She agreed with Izuku; letting Aizawa take this army on alone was not a good plan.
"You can't be a pro if you only have one trick."
Aizawa's words gave a sense of reassurance to his students, but it struck a chord with Midoriya, especially. Almost as if he was hinting at a lesson for him.
"I'll leave it to you, Thirteen."
With that, Aizawa leaped down the towering flights of stairs, ready to show Midoriya exactly what he meant. A squad of ranged quirk wielders began to take their aim to shoot Aizawa. A sudden flash of red ignited in his eyes before the villains found that they couldn't use their attacks.
"Huh?! My quirk!"
"Where're my bullets?"
Suddenly the firing squad was wrapped up in binding cloths that launched them up into the air. Aizawa followed up with pulling the cloth back to slam the three villains into each other, knocking them out cold. The villains stood shocked at how quickly this unknown hero incapacitated their teammates.
"Idiots. That's Eraserhead! A pro! He can cancel your quirks just by looking at you!"
"Cancellation? Bet you can't erase the quirk of a heteromorphic-type like me!"
With the four-armed heteromorph charging at Aizawa, he started to weave out of the way when something came through the periphery of his vision, something quick enough to startle even the villain.
A quick flash of red struck the charging behemoth, the gangster crying out in pain. The erasure hero gritted his teeth when he realized what was happening.
"I've had enough of your prattling, you damn pussies! So how about we try to even the odds a bit here," Ryuko flashed her signature smug grin, the adrenaline rush pumping through her veins. She could finally let loose, permission be damned.
"MATOI! I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU-"
"Lecture me later, Mr. Aizawa. I heard what Deku said to you and if that's true, then you're gonna need my help. I can already tell these guys aren't super tough, so I'll be able to save you some energy here and there," Ryuko asserted. She wasn't going to back down from helping him out, discipline be damned!
'She has a point, but this isn't the time to be playing hero!' Aizawa thought. He didn't want to see a young hero throw their life away.
…
"So, she was a gang leader and she's also a fairly skilled fighter? It doesn't mean the girl can cut it as a hero, though."
Eraserhead sat in the principal's office with Nezu, receiving a briefing on an unusual student transfer coming to UA. Ryuko Matoi wasn't someone whom he deemed fit for hero work.
"I hear your objections and concerns, Aizawa. But that's exactly why I am assigning her to your class," Nezu stated calmly, sipping on a cup of lemon tea.
The scruffy teacher raised an eyebrow, starting to picture where Nezu might be going with this.
"When you agreed to come and teach here, you asked me for permission to expel and re-enroll students. How did you put it? You'd be able to give them a taste of death when they mixed up heroism over throwing one's own life away," Nezu recalled.
"So what you're saying is, if she goes off the rails, you know I'll be able to reign her in or she'll end up going back to whatever the hell is happening with Honnōji Academy, right?"
"Exactly. I know she may end up frustrating you at times, and I apologize in advance. But if we're to stave off an even bigger threat, I can't think of a better teacher than you to guide her while she's here under our oversight," Nezu smiled.
...
"You listen carefully, Matoi," Aizawa started to speak, drawing Ryuko's glance as the villains circled around, trying to figure out who the hell this kid was.
"Don't go doing something stupid. You're here to get stronger, right?"
"Well, duh!" Ryuko shot back, "Isn't that obvious?"
"Then listen closely. Heroism is one thing, but if I see you trying to throw your life away, I won't be able to help you out of this situation if I'm pinned to the ground or you're taken hostage. You're accepting a lot of risks taking these guys on with little intel."
"We're fighting to survive and not end up smashed to bits. It's something I can manage without needing you to be my protector," Ryuko grinned, understanding the core of the message her teacher was trying to hammer home.
"Good. Then listen to what I say and if I tell you to run and get out of here, you'll do it. No questions asked. Understand?"
"Hmph. Don't have to tell me twice!"
Ryuko opened her stance more and steadied her blade, as Aizawa rechambered himself to prepare for the next wave of gangsters. They were uncertain of what to make of the situation for a few moments, but now each one of the unwelcome guests wanted to rip the pair's heads off.
"There he goes, trying to intimidate us. He's becoming a major pain in our ass with that quirk of his. And now this… girl comes in like she's hot shit?"
Shigaraki watched as Ryuko and Aizawa were making quick work of the villains, quite efficiently even. He began scratching at his neck, irritation stirring in his mind. It made him feel sick.
"How annoying."
"The worst thing about dealing with UA, is when they live up to all their hype."
The students watched from afar, their already stacked bewilderment now being toppled by Ryuko jumping to Aizawa's aid.
"Okay! Could she get any more crazy?!" Kaminari shouted aloud.
"Thirteen, shouldn't she be running with us? This is dangerous behavior!" Iida asked his teacher.
"I agree. But right now she seems to be handling herself well alongside Aizawa. We don't have a lot to work with here, so this is for the best to keep everyone else safe," Thirteen responded.
Iida was a bit hesitant at first, but nodded. The students began to make their way over to the entrance with Thirteen with haste. The only one not moving was Midoriya, who had stopped to watch the skirmish happening below.
"Whoa, they're actually holding them off. They might have a chance to hold out long enough for more pros to show up," Izuku commented.
"This is no time to be analyzing! We have to go!" Iida called out, snapping Izuku back to the task at hand.
As the class turns to escape from the ensuing battle below, they found themselves cut off by the mysterious gaseous villain from the center of the facility.
"There is no escape for you." The voice called through the mist before revealing itself. Yellow eyes formed within the billowing purple smoke.
Aizawa and Ryuko turned their eyes towards the tall purple mist villain that seemed to be blocking the other students from exiting the facility. Aizawa immediately attempted to storm towards them, but was cut off by a handful of villains blocking his path. Ryuko saw what he intended to do and slashed with her scissor blade to blow them away, only for the two to be swarmed by even more thugs.
"Greetings, we are the League Of Villains. I do apologize for the abrupt visit, but at this moment we are here to complete an important task. That being responsible for the Symbol Of Peace's last dying breaths, I'm sure you can understand."
Before he could continue any further, his speech was cut off by the two battle cries of Kirishima and Bakugo as they lunged at him. Putting their all into it, the two struck at the mist, which led to a massive explosion at the front gate.
"Did ya think we were just gonna stand around and let ya tear this place to shreds?" Kirishima spoke amongst the smoke.
"You live up to your school's reputation. But you should be more careful, children. Otherwise, someone might get hurt," The purple villain responded.
"You two, get out of the way, right now!" Thirteen shouted.
The purple mist began to expand and spread out rapidly. Its form enveloping around the students, blinding them as it began to warp them to different locations. Iida, being quick on his feet, swooped in to grab Uraraka and Sato before leaping out of the smoke.
Many students were scattered amongst the many zones in the USJ: Midoriya, Asui, and Mineta in the Flood Zone, Ojiro in the Conflagration Zone, Yaoyorozu, Kaminari, and Jirou in the Mountain, Todoroki in Landslide, and Kirishima and Bakugo in the Ruins. The other remaining students were still at the front gate, along with Ryuko fighting alongside Aizawa.
Midoriya stood on the prop yacht after he was saved by Tsuyu Asui, Class 1A's resident frog quirk user. Next to her is Minoru Mineta, the one who could stick things together with his... balls.
'Yep, quite the crack team we got here. At least Asui can swim in the water. Wait, that was mean! When did I get so crude? ...I've been around Kacchan and Ryuko too much, huh?' Izuku pondered before Asui came aboard the boat.
"I'm glad you're here. I thought I was dead meat. Thank you again, Asui." Midoriya said, feeling ever so grateful.
The person in question hopped from the side of the damaged yacht up to the ship's railing to make contact with Midoriya.
"I thought I told you to call me Tsu."
"ARE YOU GUYS SERIOUSLY HAVING A CONVERSATION RIGHT NOW?! WE'RE ABOUT TO GET KILLED BY VILLAINS AND YOU GUYS ARE YUCKING IT UP!" The small grape-themed hero screamed.
"I hate to admit it, but Mineta's got a point. We're surrounded by villains and our classmates are scattered around the facility. Adding that to the fact that our teachers and arguably the strongest fighter in the class are currently going head to head with the main bad guys, we're between a rock and a hard place," Tsu said bluntly, further lowering Mineta's spirit's.
While Mineta continues his freakout, Midoriya began to analyze their current dilemma. These villains attacked the class with the sole purpose of killing All Might. That left him with two conclusions: The first thing that came to mind was that they knew about his injury and were going to use that against him. If it wasn't that, then they had something in their arsenal that could contend with the man that changed the weather with just one punch.
Honestly, the latter scenario sounded a WHOLE LOT WORSE than the former scenario in terms of pure nightmare fuel.
"That smoke villain said they were here to kill All Might, right? They really spent a lot of time planning this."
Both Tsu and Mineta turn towards their classmate as he delved into their current situation.
"Yeah, but what's the point? No one can beat All Might in a fight, so them saying they're gonna kill All Might is just plain stupid! He's the greatest hero in the entire world, no one can beat him!" Mineta exclaimed.
"Yeah, but think about it. If the villains spent so much time planning this attack, then they probably figured out a way to kill him," Tsu chimed in.
"Right, they wouldn't be attacking us if they didn't have something or someone that can fight All Might. And I think that big monster next to the leader could be it," Midoriya added as the other students listened.
"Plus didn't you hear what that smoke guy said? Maybe we should worry more about not getting tortured to death," Tsu remarked.
"IF THAT'S THE CASE, WHAT THE HELL ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO?! WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH VILLAINS ALL OVER THE PLACE AND A DAMN ALL MIGHT KILLER TO PUT THE CHERRY ON TOP OF THIS SHIT SUNDAE?!" Mineta screamed.
"Ya know Mineta, I gotta ask, why did you join the Hero Course? Are you sure you're cut out for this?" Tsuyu pried.
"I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD BE DEALING WITH VILLAINS LESS THAN A WEEK INTO SCHOOL! I DON'T WANNA DIIIIIEEEEE!"
Izuku watched the discourse that occurred around him. His classmate's dwindling optimism and the villains surrounding them in the water didn't lend much hope for them in this dire situation. This was a carefully laid out plan on the villains' part, and they just might succeed. But why?
Izuku clamped his fist tightly before he bared his teeth, 'I don't care what the villain's reasons are. I'm not going to just stand by and watch them kill All Might.'
Cycling through Izuku's memories were many of the times that All Might had been there by his side, helping him prepare to start his journey of fulfilling his dream: To become a hero.
'I will face this evil! Head on!' Izuku slammed his fist down and straightened himself up.
"It doesn't matter. Right now, these villains are hell bent on killing All Might and us. We have to work together to keep him safe. Our classmates are probably fighting for their lives right now, and the same goes for our teachers. So if there is a way for us to help, I say let's do it."
Mineta looked at Midoriya, stunned at the words that just came from the green-haired teen's mouth.
"Wait a minute, are you saying we have to fight those villains down there?!" Mineta gestured to the villains floating in the water waiting for them.
"We really don't have a choice, the villains have something that's jamming communications going to and from the USJ. So there's no way for us to call for help. That means it's up to us to stop them."
Midoriya looked down towards the literal sea of enemies staring intensely at them. He then turned back to his classmates.
"So come on. Let's go be heroes!"
To be continued…
Aduubo A/N: So you're probably wondering, why is the dialogue vastly different from the original? Well, the reason is that while we have no problem with the source material, we felt it was a good idea to change it up and give our own style. It'd be pretty boring to just read the same dialogue over and over I imagine, especially if other Fic's do the same. We didn't want to just outright copy the source material. Plus it's a good way to cut down on the unnecessary explanation exposition that Anime is infamously known for.
Pikachu: Plus we wrote this at like 2 in the morning, so this was pretty much being done on pure instinct.
Buckichamp: And besides, we haven't really taken a ton of liberties or huge risks to this point. So I think when we pieced it all together for the initial draft months ago before our review, and we were like "F*** it! It's late and let's have some fun!" And it was indeed fun.
Pikachu: Even though we were more tired than a coal miner during The Great Depression.
Buckichamp: Yeah, that too LMAO! Anyway, time to read over some reviews.
Q: " So I gotta say now, one of the things that annoy me about this fanfic is how the additional dialogue sometimes seems a bit unnatural. Example, when Nezu talked about his experience with Life Fibres. Pretty sure he'd come off as a bit uneasy about his experience with them, and overall his past. But he sounded like he was stating simple facts, like an encyclopedia."
- Some guy
Buckichamp: I'll address this one since I primarily wrote up the Nezu scene in Chapter 10. Keep in mind, all three of us have to agree on this to keep it in. If it's a 2-1 or 1-2 split, further discussions are had to tweak, remove, or do something else with the text.
With Nezu, you don't really see him get super emotional and what not during most of the time we see him on screen. He's usually fairly lax, especially in seemingly stressful situations. The lone exception I can remember seeing Nezu on edge is All For One versus All Might.
The past more than likely troubles Nezu, that's a given. But you have Ryuko, a girl who has bounced around, been involved in gangs, watched her father die in front of her and still searching for answers to the murder (I know someone talked about that in another review, we'll get there) and is honestly a more emotional mess than most might think.
But in that moment, Nezu is the adult and Mikisugi isn't handing over information that easily. He's at least trying to give Ryuko something in her search for answers. He can hide any of that unease for a few short minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if he did need time to decompress after Matoi left for homeroom. We wouldn't include that bit unless we had our reasons.
…..
Man, this guy took us to task. A lot of really good critiques and deep thinking… but one thing I REALLY don't agree with is the writing quality, but to each their own.
I honestly think our writing quality is only starting to improve as we blend three different people's writing and styles into one coherent piece, and not degrading. But addressing a few other notes from Some guy...
Q: "This is where I really have to note how crossing MHA with almost any other world doesn't work, because MHA relies heavily on the concept of superhero society for all its faults, perks, and the whole story. Honnoji falls so very much far from that sort of society, and is its own world. It sounds so far-fetched that not only is it full of Quirkless people, but also isn't influenced at all by hero society.
Plus I really can't see it working with both Ragyo and AFO being the endgame villains. I mean their plans oppose each other's, how's this gonna work? Having one ally with the heroes against the other is the easiest way, but it feels like that would get VERY messy."
Aduubo: Well… we never actually said that Honnoji just consists of quirkless people, hehe. The only thing we know is that Uzu Sanageyama himself is quirkless. We won't know who has a quirk or not until it happens.
Or the alternative response could be that Satsuki is very selective of particular people and only sees Quirks as easy crutches that spoil humanity. Who knows? She's very cryptic in her methods to the point not even the Elite Four themselves know 100%.
As for not being influenced by hero society, we could make the claim that Honnoji is a very secretive school that doesn't try to take interest in affairs outside of the island or outside of the districts of schools they own. They only stay in their own lane, and make sure others stay in theirs.
Bucki: I also wouldn't say whether or not we've decided on what point in time the fanfic stops and if both Ragyo Kiryuin and AFO would be concurrent final bosses. We still have time to choose what direction we'll go in of several possibilities, but we have a few branching paths we're exploring and how that would affect the final outcome of our work.
We don't have to rush into an endgame decision for another few months until we really decide where things are going to stop. If we mainly stick to publishing a chapter every two weeks a majority of the time and see our story through to the end, then I could maybe see the finale happening sometime late next year, or even in 2023 or 2024! We'll see. We have a ton of ideas but nothing that says "This is the definitive ending."
Q: "I'm gonna be honest, writing quality feels like it's degrading from here. I'm specifically talking about Izuku telling Ryuko he's actually Quirkless.
What he really wanted to tell Katsuki was that he wasn't hiding his Quirk, and that he really did just get it. Everything else - by his own admission - spilled out his mouth without him realizing, all because he was overcome with emotions of guilt and other things that had him glued to Katsuki.
With hours having gone by and him having calmed down, it doesn't make sense he'd tell Ryuko what he didn't mean to say. Not to mention he really had no reason to tell her, beside her asking him to tell her instead.
Speaking of, why did she say that again? Doesn't make all that much sense.
Also Kinagase sounds like a damn creep out of context"
Aduubo: If it were any other character, I would totally agree. But in terms with Ryuko, she's someone he had known since childhood. After reclaiming the memories with her, he knows about the bond they share, that he can also trust her.
He knows that Ryuko doesn't bullshit around and would play with his emotions to get answers. Either way, she would ask again because she was there when Katsuki first got his quirk, so she knows what might have happened during the decade where he was forced to deal with him alone. Izuku's mental state is nearly in shambles, and she can understand that since she has similar problems thanks to her father and the isolation in boarding school.
She cares about him. She might not be super bright, but she can definitely read how people feel. So she is able to see that even when Izuku is putting up a front, he still has problems. There are parts where she pays close attention to his body posture and is greatly bothered by it. So if there's any chance to help her friend that took her in, she's going to take it. That's why she was so adamant to make sure that Izuku didn't have to explain himself to Katsuki like a supposed good lap dog.
They are two good friends that want to see each other succeed.
Also ikr Tsumugu needs to word his demands better lol it was the same thing in the anime too
Aduubo: Thank you for the review though! Please don't take this as us responding badly to criticism. We tried to respond as professionally as possible without any misconceptions. We appreciate that you are asking in depth questions and it's fun to discuss deeper things with the audience when possible! That's all for now! Hope you all have a good week! And be sure to get those tickets for Spider-Man. Shit's getting goooood.
