One day, Usagi and Harusuke were heading to Rei's place to study. On their way there, Usagi couldn't help but start complaining.
"Man, the torture begins once again," Usagi groaned. "Another boring day of studying for high school entrance exams over at Rei's place."
"Oh, come on, Sis. You may not like it, but you got to do it anyway," said Harusuke. "Why look at the glass half empty when you can look at it half full? Besides, if you don't, you know that Rei and Luna are going to start picking on you."
Then, they happened to pass by the Game Crown Arcade. Usagi couldn't help but look back, eventually coming to a stop, wanting nothing more than to have some fun rather than study. Harusuke was just about to say something when Usagi stopped herself.
"No! I won't get tempted!" Usagi said. "We all promised to study hard together, and I can't afford to get distracted!"
"Atta girl, Usagi," Harusuke said with a smile. "I knew you could do it. All you need is some willpower, and you'll be fine."
But then, Usagi did a double-take and looked back through the glass doors of the entrance. She then gasped. "What the-! Harusuke, look!"
Harusuke then came over, and he couldn't help but feel surprised. Inside the arcade, they saw all their friends. Minako and Makoto were over at a racing console while Rei and Ami watched them play. The Tsukino siblings then went inside.
"What are you guys doing in here?" asked Harusuke. "I thought that we were going to meet up at Rei's place to study."
"Oh, hey, Harusuke," greeted Ami. "Well, we originally were going to Rei's, but then we heard from Motoki that there was a new game that just got here. So naturally, since Minako loves games as much as you do, she begged to try it out."
"Since then, both her and Makoto have been playing that game," said Rei with a wry smile. "We tried to get them away from it, but they keep insisting one more game."
At that moment, Makoto let out a loud groan of defeat while Minako grinned with pride. Then, Makoto and Minako looked up.
"Oh! Usagi! Harusuke! Get over here!" Makoto spoke excitedly. "You two have got to check this new game out! It's called Battle Lap!"
"Battle Lap?" repeated Usagi. "What kind of game is that?"
Makoto then got up and led Usagi over to the game.
"But, what about studying girls?" Harusuke asked. "I mean, shouldn't we be getting over to Rei's?"
"Don't worry, Harusuke. We've got plenty of time," Minako reassured. "Besides, you're only a teen once in your life. It's okay to enjoy the simple things in life, and this game is cool! You need to check it out."
Harusuke could see that there was no talking the girls out of it. In the end, he came over as well. Makoto then took her seat as she put on the helmet. "This is a racing game that's so realistic that it feels like you're right on the track," she said. "Just step on the clutch, and start the engine. Of course, you'll also want to change gears quickly and to keep shifting to the fifth."
Usagi then put on her helmet and turned the ignition as Makoto instructed, starting the game. Immediately, there was a rumble and roar of a car's engine as her chair began to vibrate. As the race started, the ordango blonde couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed as she tried her best to keep control of her car.
"The noise of the engine is so loud, and I can feel the vibration!" Usagi squeaked. "It's like I'm driving a real race car!"
Then suddenly, there was an unfamiliar voice that came next to her.
"Push harder on the throttle and increase the RPM."
Usagi looked to her right and saw someone else playing the racing game, two seats away. Someone was wearing a maroon button-down and green plaid trousers. At first, Usagi wondered who this person was, but then she quickly returned her attention to the game, following the stranger's advice. Immediately, her car went even faster, and she was soon in more control.
"Wow! Way to go, Sis!" said Harusuke. "You're back in the race!"
"You were a lap behind for a while, but now you're neck and neck with the leader!" Minako gasped. "Go, Usagi!"
While the gang watched Usagi play, they didn't notice that a couple of people were watching the mysterious stranger play, who was racing at an incredible pace and skill.
"Whoa! Check it out!" one man said. "That guy's handling those turns like a real race car driver!"
"And his time is unreal!" said another. "He's going about four hundred kilometers per hour!"
Then came trouble for Usagi. Despite the tip, she was going so fast that she was starting to lose control of her car, making her panic.
"Usagi! Look out for that wall!" Minako cried. "You're going to crash!"
But it was too late. Usagi's car rammed straight into the wall, causing her seat to shake and shudder violently from the impact. The screen then began to flash in large letters, "Game Over."
"Usagi, are you okay?" Harusuke asked. "That was a pretty nasty crash."
Usagi dizzily moaned. "This game feels so realistic; you can even feel the damage when you crash."
"Well, you were going pretty fast," said Minako. "Heck, you were flying on that track."
Usagi then took off her helmet. "It didn't feel that fast to me," she said. "I couldn't even sense anything with the helmet on."
"Is that so?" said a voice. "Then, if that's the case, then you might have a hidden talent for racing."
Usagi looked up, and she, along with the others, saw the mysterious player taking off his helmet, revealing a young boy with fair skin, short tan-blonde hair, and blue eyes. Upon seeing this boy, Usagi's cheeks flushed in a slight pink along with the other girls, smitten with his good looks.
"He looks so cool!" Minako and Makoto squealed.
Harusuke rolled his eyes. "Good grief. It looks like Minako and Makoto just jumped on the train to Crushville."
At that moment, they heard another unfamiliar voice. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Haruka. I'm here to pick you up."
Everyone looked up towards the entrance in time to see a young girl walking towards them. Her outfit had the same colors as the boy, but she wore a sailor school uniform with a green, black striped bow in the center. She also had beautiful, porcelain white skin, a pair of deep blue eyes, wavy teal hair that just went past her shoulders, and had an aura that radiated with grace and beauty.
Usagi and the other girls stared upon seeing her, their eyes wide with amazement and awe. Even Harusuke couldn't help but stare, his cheeks going bright pink. Then, something came falling out of the girl's bag and onto the floor. It was a small hand mirror line with gold metal. The girl was about to pick it up, but then, Harusuke came up and picked it up for her.
"Here. You dropped this, Miss," Harusuke said.
"Why, thank you," the girl said with a smile. "I appreciate it."
Then, the girl looked straight into Harusuke as if she was searching for something in his eyes.
"I-Is there something wrong?" Harusuke asked.
"Your eyes. They have a color that's filled with a certain air of nobility, yet filled with a passion that's as bright as a star," the girl said. "You may have been a prince in your past life."
Harusuke couldn't help but feel his cheeks grow hotter while Usagi and the other girls watched, the other girls appearing to glower slightly.
"That's a random thing to say to a boy you just met," Harusuke said. "But, I appreciate the compliment, I think?"
"Well then, I guess I better get going," the boy said. "Guess I'll be seeing you around." He then can Usagi a gentle pat on top of her head. "Let's race each other some time, Bun-Head."
The two newcomers went on their way, leaving the Tsukino siblings and their group, completely spellbound, unable to process what happened as they watched them leave.
As they went about their way, the girl then spoke to Haruka.
"You seemed to have made a couple of new friends in there," she said with a smile. "They looked quite friendly."
"You're one to talk, Michiru," Haruka chuckled. "You seemed pretty interested in that boy. You sure you ain't trying to make me jealous?"
Michiru chuckled too. "Don't be ridiculous," she said. "I would never be jealous of girls that are so sweet and innocent."
"Speaking of which, that Bun-Head girl seemed to be the most innocent if not childish," said Haruka. "I thought it was cute."
"I felt the same way about that boy," Michiru said. "He seemed so pure yet naive in his cute way."
After that, Usagi and the gang walked home to Rei's place for their study session. They couldn't help but think about their encounter with Haruka and Michiru as they walked.
"Man, that guy was so cool!" squealed Minako. "I think I'm love!"
"No, kidding! It's been a while since I crushed a guy so hard," Makoto agreed.
"I wonder what school those two come from?" wondered Harusuke. "I'm guessing it's a private school, considering that their uniforms are different from ours."
"I think I might know," said Ami. "Those uniforms belong to those who attend Mugen Academy."
"Mugen Academy?!" Minako suddenly exclaimed. "That explains everything!"
"Mugen Academy?" puzzled Usagi. "What kind of school is that? I don't think I've heard of it."
"You've never heard of Mugen Academy, Usagi?!" Minako sighed, shaking her head. "Boy, you need to keep up with the times. The Tokyo Bay, Land Reclamation Project, developed several large tracts of commercial use. One of the largest is Sankakusu, home to the Mugen District and its private school, Mugen Academy. Soon after it opened, its prestige went off the scale, attracting tons of famous actors, musicians, and even Olympic athletes wanting to study there!"
"So, basically, it's a school for the gifted," deduced Harusuke. "You seem to know a lot about that school, Minako."
"Of course, I do!" Minako spoke eagerly. "Some of the biggest and hottest teen stars study there, and they even have a massive concert hall for them to perform! You could even meet celebrities just for going to that school!" She then sighed wistfully. "Oh, I wish I could transfer there tomorrow if I could! It's a girl's dream come true!"
"You're too starstruck," Makoto spoke flatly.
"An academy for geniuses, eh? Yet another school Usagi couldn't get into," Rei spoke snootily. "Not even in a million years."
"Now, Rei, don't say that out loud," chided Ami. "Even though it's pretty much true."
Usagi scowled at Rei and Ami. "I'm within earshot, you know," she pouted huffily.
"It does sound like an interesting school," Harusuke said. "And now that I think about it, I do like the colors of their uniforms."
"Like what you saw that girl with Haruka was wearing?" asked Rei.
That made Harusuke glance over at Rei along with the other girls.
"Wait. What? What do you mean by that, Rei?" asked Harusuke.
"Don't play dumb, Harusuke," Rei spoke. "You were practically staring at that girl. We all saw how you were acting."
"You looked like a guy that fell in love at first sight," Makoto chimed in. "If anything, you were as starstruck as Minako was."
Harusuke's cheeks began to heat up. "I-I wasn't starstruck!" he denied. "I mean, sure, she was pretty, but there was no way I was staring at her!"
Usagi and the girls only stared at Harusuke skeptically.
Harusuke then sighed. "Anyway, we need to get over at Rei's place. If we got time to talk about those two and Mugen Academy, then we got time to study."
The male Tsukino then walked on ahead, trying to ignore the questioning stares behind him.
Tomoe and Kaolinite were busy at work making Daimon Eggs in the lab. They had just created about a dozen or so and now just finishing up on a thirteenth.
"Kaolinite, the Daimon Egg is ready," said Tomoe. "Do you wish to use this one to capture a Pure Heart?"
"Yes, Tomoe," Kaolinite said. "I've already come up with a target in mind."
Tomoe took the finished Egg into his hands and let it go. Kaolinite took the Egg into her hands as it came to her and then set off to find her next Pure Heart victim.
The next day, Usagi was walking by herself from school, going to Rei's place for another study session, planning to meet the others there. Then, as she happened to walk past a cafe, she saw someone that she didn't expect to see. A certain blonde with a red bow was sneakily making her way inside of it, making sure no one saw her.
"That was Minako just now," Usagi said to herself. "I wonder what she's up to?"
The ordango blonde entered the cafe and saw Minako carefully peeking out behind the wall by the entrance. Usagi then came over.
"Hey, Minako. What are-" Usagi began to say.
"Be quiet!" Minako suddenly interrupted, whispering. "Can't you see that I'm busy watching?"
Usagi was puzzled as she looked where Minako was watching, and sure enough, sitting next to the window having coffee together was Haruka and Michiru.
"Minako, what are you doing spying on them like this?" Usagi asked.
"Usagi, I've decided," Minako whispered to Usagi, ignoring her question. "He's the one. Haruka is the ideal man that I've been searching for."
Usagi let out a shocked scream mixed with a whisper. "Just a minute, Minako! You can't do that!" she squeaked. "Besides, you already tell by looking at the guy that he's already taken!"
"We don't know that for sure. It's not like we've asked the guy," insisted Minako. "My heart is on fire with this love, and there's nothing that's going to stop it from burning!"
Then, the waitress interrupted her. "Miss, if you're ready to order, please let me take you to your table."
Minako answered by putting her finger to her lips, silencing her.
After a while, Haruka and Michiru left the cafe and walked together, with Usagi and Minako tailing them from a few feet away.
Usagi was still trying to talk Minako out of this pursuit. "I'm telling you, those two are a couple," she whispered. "So let's just forget about them and head to Rei's."
"Oh, knock it off. There's no use trying to talk me out of this," replied Minako huffily. "Besides, you don't have to stay with me. I'll just spy on them by myself."
"But Minako! No fair!" whined Usagi. "I'm interested in knowing about Haruka, too!"
"But you have Mamoru!" Minako snapped. "He's your guy, remember?!"
Usagi gulped and didn't say anything, knowing that Minako was right. Then, Minako saw Haruka and Michiru separate, Michiru going one way and Haruka going inside a garage shop known as "Kameda Tuning Service."
"You see that? They've gone their separate ways," Minako pointed out with a grin. "Without even a single kiss or a hug. Guess they're not a couple after all."
The two then snuck over to the entrance to the garage, where they saw Haruka walking towards a mechanic who was busily tinkering under the undercarriage of a car.
"Hey there, Mr. Kameda," greeted Haruka. "How's it going?"
Kameda then came out from the undercarriage and smiled when he saw him. "Hey there, Haruka. You're back again, I see," he said while wiping his hands. "Probably wondering how your car's been doing."
"Sorry to bother you like this," apologized Haruka. "I'm just anxious to get on the road again, is all."
"Don't worry about it. Just give me a few more minutes, and this baby will be all set to go," said Kameda. "In the meantime, you can wait around a few minutes while I finish up."
"So, he drives a car too?!" Usagi gushed with delight. "This guy just keeps getting cooler by the second!"
"Hey! Shouldn't you be getting over to Rei's place or something?!" Minako whispered. "Harusuke and Rei are going to be furious if you don't show up!"
"Forget that! This is more important!" said Usagi. "I'm not leaving until I find out everything I can about Haruka!"
Before Minako could say anything more, Haruka walked towards them, forcing them to cover their mouths to keep quiet. However, Haruka not only heard them, but he also saw the edge of Minako's skirt just outside of the door.
"So, little kittens, how long are you going to hide out?" Haruka asked. "Come on out."
Knowing that the jig was up, Usagi and Minako came out.
"So, you knew we were here?" Minako shyly blushed. "Guess you caught us."
"So, what brings you two here?" Haruka asked. "Let me guess. You want to know some personal details about me, that right?"
Usagi and Minako blushed as they scratched the back of their heads in embarrassment. "Yes. You guessed, right!" they both said.
"Well, then, what else do you want to know?" asked Haruka, being coy. "I honestly don't know where to begin."
"I've got a question for you!" Minako spoke out. "That girl you were with earlier! - we want to know what she means to you."
"Yeah! What she means to you!" echoed Usagi. "What's your relationship with her? Are you dating? Is she your girlfriend?"
Haruka felt puzzled. "Wait, are you guys talking about Michiru?" he asked.
At that moment, Minako and Usagi gasped, their eyes filled with tears of comedic dismay.
"Did you hear that, Usagi?! He just called her by her first name!" Minako sobbed. "That proves that she's his girlfriend!"
"I know!" Usagi also sobbed. "That means that we're not fair game, after all!"
Haruka then smiled. "Well, yes, but in actuality, we're a bit closer than that," he said.
Usagi and Minako felt their hearts sink at this. Haruka then walked up to the two girls and spoke kindly to them.
"But you mustn't give up. Something things change. You might still have a chance. You never know."
Minako blushed, feeling smitten with Haruka once again. "R-Right. Okay."
Just then, Michiru appeared carrying a small box in her hands, having heard everything. "I wouldn't believe that if I were you," she said with a smile. "That's a line that Haruka loves to use to all the cute girls to string them along."
"H-Hey. That's not true, Michiru," Haruka objected lightly.
"If you say so," Michiru teased with a sly smile as she held up her box. "But while you're enjoying all of their attention, I just might take these deserts I bought us to share and eat them myself."
"Okay, okay, you win," Haruka conceded.
Usagi and Minako then scowled upon seeing Michiru and stomped over to her.
"Alright, Michiru! I've got a question for you!" said Minako. "Is Haruka your boyfriend?"
"A simple yes or no will do just fine, thank you!" said Usagi.
Michiru paused for a brief moment, then she smiled. "A simple no," she replied.
Usagi and Minako now felt hopeful.
"Alright! Gorgeous Haruka is all mine!" Minako said to herself.
"No way! He's all mine!" Usagi insisted eagerly.
"Usagi, you already have your love, I said!" snapped Minako. "And it's Mamoru!"
Usagi faltered as she pouted. "Geez. Minako's been giving me a harder time than usual today," she thought grumpily. "Has she been taking mean lessons from Rei or what?"
At the Hikawa Shrine in Rei's room, Rei let out a tremendous sneeze in the bend of her elbow.
Harusuke then gave her a tissue. "Here you go, Rei, and bless you."
"Thanks, Harusuke," sniffed Rei as she blew her nose. "Geez, I must be getting allergies."
"You'll have to be careful this time of year," said Ami. "Especially since there's a lot of pollen."
"Usagi and Minako sure are late, though," Makoto said with a scowl as she looked at the time. "I wonder what those two are up to?"
"I just hope nothing bad happened to them," said Ami. "The fact that it's both of them is making me worried."
"You think that I should try calling them on the communicator?" asked Harusuke. "Maybe something happened."
"Oh, please, Harusuke," scoffed Rei. "If I know those two, they probably spotted some cute boy and have been following him around to see if they could get his phone number."
"Come on, Rei," Ami chuckled. "Even Usagi and Minako aren't that boy crazy."
There was a long silence. Then everyone heaved a collective sigh.
Usagi and Minako were still with Haruka and Michiru, watching Kameda fix up Haruka's car. As they watched, Haruka began telling them a bit about Kameda.
"Mr. Kameda's one of the best mechanics I know," he said. "What he wants more than anything in the world is to be a mechanic for world-class cars on the circuit. He's taught and shown me so much about racing; that's why I love coming to him. When I see him, I feel like I can hear the cars roaring in the distance as they glisten in the blazing heat. I can even feel the smell wafting across the circuit, blowing in the wind."
"Oh, wow. You sure do love cars, don't you, Haruka?" Minako spoke with amazement.
"It's always been Haruka's dream to become a professional race car driver," Michiru spoke happily. "Despite being a prodigy, he's one of the skilled drivers I know."
"Well, you're half right about that, Michiru," said Haruka. "But that dream of being a professional driver is long gone. That was my dream, but now I have a new one."
"Then what is your new dream?" asked Usagi. "Please tell us."
Haruka's smile turned neutral as he glanced wistfully into the sky. "It's to do something that I only I can do. To find the reason why I'm here, my purpose," he spoke with conviction. "And I'll do whatever it takes to achieve that dream, even if it means making some sacrifices. As long as I can obtain that goal, I won't have any regrets."
Usagi and Minako were filled with admiration while Michiru glanced worriedly at Haruka as she gave him a reassuring squeeze of his hand.
"Whoa. Haruka's so self-sacrificing," Minako whispered to Usagi.
"Yeah, but not as cool as Mamo, though," Usagi whispered back.
As they continued to watch Kameda work on Haruka's car, they didn't see the Daimon Egg appear in the room, hovering just above the Kameda. First, it pulsed as it tried to find the perfect host for it. Then, when the Egg pointed towards Kameda, it began to flash wildly. The Egg then merged with the car's steering wheel, causing it to erupt with light.
"What's going on?!" exclaimed Minako.
Knowing that Kameda was in trouble, Haruka tried to help, but Michiru grabbed his hand, stopping him in his tracks.
"Haruka," Michiru spoke quietly.
"Yeah, I know," Haruka said, calming down. "You don't need to tell me."
The car suddenly stood up and began to morph and bend as it changed. In a manner of seconds, Kameda found himself staring at a Daimon. She had pink skin, and her outfit was of a unitard with a screen on her bosom with long muffler tips on the back, four formula-style wheels, two on her shoulders and two on her thighs, and a racing car helmet on her head. She also had even had red gloves and was holding a steering wheel.
"What the hell are you?!" exclaimed Kameda.
"I'm known as Steering!" the Daimon cackled. "And I've come for your Pure Heart Crystal! Now, it's time to jack it up!"
Before Kameda could even think of running, Steering threw four clamping jacks, each one latching onto his arms and legs as they held him up in the air. Usagi and Minako immediately came rushing over.
"Stop that!" yelled Minako.
"Leave that man alone!" Usagi shouted.
Steering was about to put them down for interfering, but she didn't need to do that. A turned-over can of motor oil had spilled all over the floor, and Minako didn't see it until too late that she began to slip on it. Unfortunately, Usagi ended up skidding on it also, and the two blondes ended up crashing into a tower of cans, which collapsed on top of them.
Seeing no one else in her way, Steering got onto her back using her wheels to roll under Kameda. The screen part of her unitard went down, revealing a Black Star Tattoo in the middle of her bosom. It glowed brightly and unleashed a beam, shooting directly into Kameda's chest. Kameda screamed in agony as his Pure Heart Crystal came out of his chest and into Steering's hands.
"I better take this crystal to Lady Kaolinite," Steering said to herself. "That way, she can check to see if this one contains a talisman."
And with a squeal of her tires, Steering sped away.
Usagi then pulled herself out of the pile of cans, dazed and bruised, but okay. She looked around, trying to find out where the Daimon went. She didn't see it anywhere, but she did see Kameda, who was unconscious while hanging on the jacks.
"Minako! Where are you?!" Usagi cried. "We need to get back Mr. Kameda's heart crystal back quickly!"
Immediately, Minako exploded from the pile of cans. "Here I am, Haruka!" she shrieked. "Your hero's here!" But to her surprise and disappointment, Haruka, along with Michiru, had wisely disappeared. "Wait, he's gone? Where did he go?"
Usagi was quick to snap her back to reality. "Hey! Minako! Now is not the time to think about him!" she scolded. "We have to transform and save Mr. Kameda!"
Minako sheepishly blushed and scowled. "Y-Yeah. I knew that."
Usagi took out her Heart Cosmic Compact while Minako whipped out her Transformation Stick.
"MOON COSMIC POWER MAKE UP!"
"VENUS STAR POWER MAKE UP!"
Transformation Sequence: Usagi
Usagi's Cosmic Heart Compact opens, revealing the pink heart-shaped crystal inside, waving her hand over it. It flashes twice and erupts in pink light. Usagi is now standing in the middle of a light blue heart that's spinning to the right. She stands one leg while holding up her arms and begins pirouetting in the opposite direction, going faster until, in a burst of light, pink ribbons envelop her torso and midsection, transforming into her leotard. She elegantly stretches out her arms, and pink ribbons cover them, forming into her gloves. She then raised her right foot high with incredible flexibility, and pink ribbons cloak it changing into her boots. The heart made of blue light then turns into a circle of sparkles swirling around her waist, forming her skirt and bow. Now no longer in light, Usagi spins around a couple of times like a ballerina and takes a slight bow. As she comes out from her bow, a crescent moon mark glows in the middle of her forehead. Then, a tiara appears bearing a gold symbol of the Moon, along with her earrings, choker, and her ordango covers. Finally, Usagi opens her eyes, her transformation now complete, and strikes her signature pose.
Transformation sequence: Minako.
Minako's hand is held up as golden stars swirl around it, alighting her fingernails, turning them into a shade of bright orange. Her transformation stick appears spinning, and she takes hold of it, the star on end as well as the symbol glowing. It begins to turn as Minako is enveloped in yellow light. Then she sweeps the pen over her head as banners of golden stars emit from it. Minako then holds up the pen above her head as the banners of stars form a spiral around her body. They disappear into the ground, forming a circle of stars and burst into more stars going upwards, enveloping Minako's body. Then Minako emerges wearing the same outfit as Sailor Moon's, the center bow, boots, and rims on the gloves colored orange, her back bow, yellow, and her center bow, blue. She then opens her eyes as she assumes her signature pose.
Steering was speeding along the river bed, enjoying herself with how fast she was going and how her mission would soon be complete. Then she heard the sound coming from just behind her. It was the sound of another vehicle.
Steering looked up as she drove and saw who was tailing her. Haruka and Michiru were riding on top of a motorcycle and catching up fast.
"You ready, Michiru?" called out Haruka. "I'm going for it!"
"I'm with you!" responded Michiru. "Do it!"
Haruka gathered speed and rode up the side of the river bed, using the momentum to launch their ride into the air. Steering's eyes went wide as she saw the cycle falling straight towards her.
"What the-! Are they crazy?!" Steering cried. "They're going to kill themselves!"
But as the motorcycle fell, Steering eyes went wide with horror and disbelief, for Haruka and Michiru had mysteriously disappeared as the bike crashed right into her, sending it along with her flying, tumbling, and crashing into the ground.
Steering was in one piece, but she did feel a bit rattled. "That was a close one," she said to herself. "Good thing I remembered to wear my helmet and glasses."
Then, the droid heard the chime of a bicycle along with a pair of voices.
"We're putting the brakes on you!"
"The pure heart of a man's dream will never fall into the hands of evil!"
Steering looked up in surprise and saw Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus arriving on the scene via Venus pedaling on a bike.
Sailor Moon jumped off and landed just in front of the droid. "I am the Pretty Guardian who stands for love and justice! I am Sailor Moon!" she proclaimed. "And now, in the name of the Moon, I'll punish you!"
"Now, hold on a minute!" Sailor Venus spoke indignantly. "Don't go stealing all of the glory for yourself! Especially since you made me pedal all this way!"
"Geez, Venus. You are giving me a hard time today, aren't you?" grumped Sailor Moon.
Steering then got back up and growled menacingly as large metal spikes sprung out from her wheels. "Stay out of my way! I won't let anyone roadblock me any longer!"
Sailor Moon and Venus braced themselves to fight when they heard two unfamiliar voices.
"Stop right there! You stole something that belongs to a man with dreams!"
"And we won't allow you to have that heart crystal!"
Steering then looked back as Sailor Moon and Venus looked up. Just a few feet away were the two mysterious Guardians. The first was tall and wore a sailor uniform whose collar, bow, boots, and skirt colored navy blue, and the center bow was yellow with a familiar crop of short blonde hair. She also wore a white mask and a long cape. The second was shorter in height, and her uniform's choker, collar, gloves, skirt, and heels were sea-green while the bows were blue.
"Who the hell are you?!" demanded Steering.
"Answering the call from the new era," proclaimed the masked Guardian flourishing her cape in the wind. "Sailor Uranus, here to fight with brilliance!"
"Also answering the call from the new era," the second Guardian spoke. "Sailor Neptune, here to fight with elegance!"
Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus were deeply shocked as well as amazed. "No way! The mysterious fighters are Sailor Guardians!?" the two exclaimed.
"I don't give a damn what you are!" Steering snarled. "If you get in my way, I'll run you down!"
Her wheels spun wildly as long spikes grew out of them. But then, Sailor Uranus raised her hand into the air, gathering power. Then, she closed it, the energy turning into a giant amber-colored ringed sphere.
"URANUS WORLD SHAKING!"
She launched her attack by slamming her fist into the ground, hurling it straight towards Steering. The attack struck the Daemon in full force, her body bending and shaking from the sheer power and energy alone. Sailor Neptune then joined in the assault by raising her hands into the air, conjuring a ringed ball of teal energy made of water.
"NEPTUNE DEEP SUBMERGE!"
She then brought them down and launched her attack at Steering, scoring another direct hit, causing the Daemon to fall to her knees, feeling weak.
"Now's your chance, Sailor Moon!" Sailor Venus yelled. "Finish her off!"
"You got it!" acknowledged Sailor Moon.
The Guardian of the Moon then summoned her Spiral Moon Heart Rod, flipped it around her body, holding it up, and spun around and around, her rod glowing as it gathered power.
"MOON SPIRAL HEART ATTACK!"
Sailor Moon came to a stop on her knees as her rod released a mighty blast pink in the shape of a giant heart. Steering looked up in time for the pink heart to crash into her like a crumbling wall. With one last scream of agony and defeat, the Daimon reverted into Haruka's car as the Daimon Egg ejected from its hood, crumbling into pieces, and Kameda's Heart Crystal hovering above it.
Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune quickly rushed over and inspected the crystal.
Sailor Neptune then shook her head. "No, this crystal doesn't contain anything either," she said.
"Looks that way," agreed Sailor Uranus. "Let's get this crystal back to its owner."
"Wait, hold on a second!" Sailor Moon said.
But before Sailor Moon could even question the two, Sailor Uranus and Neptune took flight into the sky and disappeared into the light of the sunset.
Back at the arcade, Usagi and Minako explained what had happened to the others. Needless to say, when they finished, everyone was a bit annoyed with the two.
"So let me get this straight," scowled Rei. "The two of you were chasing Haruka all over town when you were supposed to be studying?"
"Do you have any idea how worried we were about you two?!" Harusuke scolded. "We thought that something terrible happened!"
Usagi and Minako could only hang their heads in shame, not saying a word.
"Now, now. Let's not get too angry," soothed Ami. "Right now, we need to look into those two new Sailor Guardians, now that we know they were the ones that saved us from those daimons."
"I wouldn't worry about that," Harusuke said. "I'll talk to Luna and Artemis about it when we see them again, and boy, are they going to have a field day with this."
Just then, Michiru came in with a girl that looked vaguely similar to a familiar boy. Upon seeing her with this girl, Minako was surprised.
"Michiru! What happened?!" Minako immediately demanded as she raced up. "Where's Haruka?! Why isn't he with you?!"
"But I am with Haruka," replied Michiru.
Rei immediately jumped on top of Minako's back, looking around. "Where?! Where?! I want to meet this handsome hunk!" she gushed.
Makoto then jumped in, hopping on top of Rei's back. "Yeah! I want to know if he looks like my old crush?! Where is he?!"
Michiru then gestured to her left, causing the girls to look left. However, they didn't see anyone other than the girl standing next to her.
It was then that Harusuke spoke up. "Um, girls? I don't know if you've realized this," he said while pointing. "But, I think that the Haruka you're looking for is that girl standing next to Michiru."
Minako, Rei, and Makoto then gawked at the girl in surprise, and sure enough, it was Haruka. Thanks to her buttondown being off, her womanly curves could be seen.
"You've got to be kidding me," Rei spoke aghast. "Haruka's not a boy..."
"He's a girl?!" Makoto spoke just as shocked.
"I don't exactly remember telling anyone I was boy," Haruka said innocently.
Minako immediately sank to the floor in despair, lamenting her broken heart while Ami shook their head in disgust.
"You mean to tell me that Usagi and Minako wasted their time chasing a girl?" Ami sighed as she looked across to the ordango blonde. "I hope you two have learned something from this."
Usagi nodded, trying not to show her disappointment. "I sure did. I told Minako that Mamo was cooler from the beginning, but she didn't listen."
