OOO Syrup captains POV

Watching my troops dig the trench I turn to begin ordering the farmers back to their homes. One of the scouts returns he's very concerned as are the rest of the troops. Hero Finn has yet to return and dust is almost upon us.

The scout reports "Sir we checked the area where the rumbling came from. A portion of sand sunk along the border but was quickly filled in before we could solve the cause. The scout there reports she saw flames erupt from the sands before they were snuffed out."

I hum to say, "Those rumblings could have been caused by the hidden volcano under that portion of the desert. Anything else?"

The scout continues, "The guards at the well say that they've seen no sign of hero Finn. Sir it's almost dark should I call them back?"

I shake my head to say, "Pull back your scouts and have the guards climb to higher portions of the rocks near the well. Have a team with yourself watching the well too. As soon as the sand beings form return here. Also tell the guards they are not to engage. They are to keep watch if one of those beings emerge looking as hero Finn."

The scout ogles at me shocked but I hold a firm worried face. If once the night sets and the creatures attack we can assume two things. One hero Finn was slain by the mad wizard and we will have to storm the well come morning with full force. And we will have to put hero Finn to rest if the wizard desecrated his corpse by reanimating him into another sand being.

As the last bit of sun trickled along the edges of the horizon the troops pull back from the trench. With long pole arms and arrows ready. I watch as the scout's race back on big horned rams. Making a path with three planks they cross informing us that the sand beings are moving once more.

With a heavy sigh I regret having to tell the princess and queen that hero Finn may have been killed. But that is news for the morning for now we must protect the kingdom. I shout ordering the troops to stand ready for when the creatures approach.

Third person's POV

Down in the sand tomb several grunts can be heard as Finn continuously bashes his shoulder and back against the hardened glass and sand trapping him. Finn is exhausted after clawing single handedly through the hardened or glass filled sand this far. With a growl Finn reels back hand to focus and trigger a small nitro blast with the tips of his fingers. The blast shaking the area of the glass and cracking it enough for Finn to put his weight forward and break free.

Tumbling and rolling headfirst Finn slams against a mound of harden glass to fall down a steep drop. With barely any time to brace himself Finn hits his back hard. Grunting Finn coughs heavily as his lungs get free of the toxic gas. But without much clean air Finn has to move fast. Finn shifts slightly feeling the area around him. Finn seeing his only way forward is down a different direct but he stops as another series of rumbling triggers him to move for cover. Diving into a hole Finn rolls to stop hard as he feels heat emitting from all over the area he's now in.

Standing Finn jumps back as a geyser of toxic sulfur gas and molten rock flies up near him. Finn coughs hard as he has to resort to striking his meteorite to create sound echoes. Hearing a rippling response across Finn dashes through the geysers and jumps as best he can. Remembering his training Finn constantly has to adjust his footing after each jump. And the unsteadiness of each section of hardened sand patch gives him reason to move faster. Landing on the far side Finn exhales his breathing harsh and his lungs feeling as if they were rubbing sandpaper. He can taste stale blood in his spit, which is not good.

Feeling the wall Finn finds a weak spot and begins to cut away at it with his short knife. The weak sand wall gives allowing Finn a way further. Sliding down another pathway Finn stops as laughter catches his attention. Following it Finn stops as the laughter is echoing from somewhere further in a chamber filled with toxic gas. Covering his mouth Finn forces himself forward following the laughter even as his lungs scream at him to turn around. With his eyes feeling as if they've been rubbed dry Finn makes a final turn to find that the path to the laughter is blocked.

Frantically feeling the edges Finn hears the laughter of his target on the other side of the hardened glass bolder. Finn not caring about the gas or the repercussions Finn pulls his sword. Stabbing it into the glass as deep as the glass with give. Finn then ignites the blade with a series of not one but several nitro charges. Blasting his way forward and igniting the room of gas and causing himself even more pain.

The mad wizard who was once laughing turn seeing his gas chamber violently exploding into his workspace. Finn coughing violently pukes blood as he takes several labored steps from the burning chamber behind him. But his face reads clearly Finn is pissed off. Slowly standing back up with flames running across his body from being blasted into the room Finn locks onto the wizard's heartbeat.

The wizard demands, "Who in the night-o-sphere are you!"

Finn doesn't answer he simply throws his sword at the mad wizard who ducks. Raises his hands the wizard makes a mantis likes gesture summoning sand based limbs to trap Finn.

The mad wizard begins to laugh saying "I am the strongest sand wizard in all of OOO you fool. Those ingrates at Wizard city mocked me, all of OOO mocked me! Now like the miners I made my thralls you too shall be a sand slave to my will. Now feel the world burn from inside of you. Your body slowly shriveling up and becoming sand! AS I BECOME YOU... Why can't I feel my everything?"

The wizard looks around himself find his head now a bit away from his body. The wizard's body stumbling forward before going limp too. Spilling blood from itself as he sees Finn once discarded sword returned to Finn's grasp.

Finn shrugs off the sandy appendages to advance onto the disembodied head. Finn pulls the crown from off the wizard's head to kick him back to his body. Once close Finn releases a nitro blast that rips the wizard into a bloody crater on the floor. Finn still breathing harshly spits to rolls his shoulders. Looking around Finn notices a thin illumination of magic pulsing in a beam. Finn follows the humming magical energy that once feed the wizards crown. Sliding down another entrance Finn finds the source of the magic. As well as a large being behind feeding the source.

The being rises to asks "Paris did it work did you collect enough sand hosts to help me?"

Finn steps closer answering "I'm not the wizard you've allied yourself with fiend. But I will kill you if you continue whatever plan you had conspired with him."

The shelled creature says "What but how he's a powerful wizard."

Finn counters by saying, "Who had a one tracked mind and a ego to match. I cut off his head and blow his body into a bloody smear on the chamber floor. Now I won't repeat myself what was your plans with him?"

The creature gulps looking at Finn's ignited sword to answers "Once he collected enough hosts and created a big enough army we were going to conquer my homeland near the planets center."

Finn says "You're plan was doomed to fail. The sand creatures weakness was excessive heat and light. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the crusts of the planet get hotter in spots. Your sand creations need it to be cool so they don't burn themselves out."

The shelled creature drops to his face saying "Oh man I gonked up big time... Time to go back home a total loser..."

Finn nods to add, "You may live but the gem you were using stays with me. Consider it payment for me allowing you to leave here alive. And if you try something like this again you'll watch as I gut you slowly."

The creature gulps to quickly flee not noticing Finns truly exhausted and beaten state. Stumbling over at the large crystal Finn raises his sword and hacks off several large chunks. Pocketing the pieces and storing the crown Finn steps back and blasts the ceiling making sure that the chamber fills with molten lava. Escaping up the entrance Finn once again blasts the entrance sealing away the crystal. Finn finds the exit to blasts the mad wizards workshop burying all his work and ideas. Finn having to hurry and crawl while still in a good deal of pain to escape.

The syrup guards were shocked as half way through the assault of the sand beings stopped. To shortly after broke apart into piles of sand and bone fragments. The syrup captain with his first squad scouts hurried to the well in hopes that Finn had returned. But the troops he left there had to flee as the ground became far too unstable.

As the sand pours down into the fire burping pit some of the knights worry that Finn is dead. But slowly from the cloud of burning sands Finn emerges his coughing worse. His breathing sounding as if someone was scratching a rough surface with blood and wounds clear for all to see. Quickly the knights hurried him back to the palace and called for the doctors.

Now hours later both Breakfast queen and princess along with a few other royals are in doctor princess's hospital. After a series of treatments and test doctor princess exits Finn's room with a few magical healers exiting with her.

Doctor princess says "It's a good thing you hurried him here after your healer voice her concerns. He's inhaled a very dangerous amount of sulfur gas. His lungs are blistered but we have located all the sours and have applied as much treatment as he needs."

A healer witch says, "He'll have to remain bed ridden for at least two weeks until the sours are gone. We've also halted any chance that additional complications will arise. All we can do is hope to Glob for the best."

Flame princess hair flares as bits of her anger shows asking "What the heck was he doing down there without some kind of protection?"

Doctor princess answers "I managed to get some answers from Finn before we put him into a medical sleep. The protective mask he was wearing was destroyed due to the seismic activities the wizard magic conducted. Finn had no choice but to stop him with what little air was available to him."

Queen Bubblegum gentle takes Doctor princesses hand to say "Thank you still for your hard work Deborah. But my concern now is how did this wizard get such a powerful artifact?"

Angel queen crosses her arms angered at what she discovered to say, "I am as confused as you are. I've sent seekers and various wizards to find and collect artifacts from all around OOO. Yet this one is not mentioned in any of the old texts. I see no maker's sigil or identifying runes. Whoever made this made sure not to be traced."

Flame queen says, "Billy did warn us that true unflinching evil and good left to fester acts more cautious when allowed. And true some of us have allowed chaos or control within our borders. Be it has been controlled for many years... I fear there maybe still a few holdouts wanting OOO to return to the olds ways. When borders were constantly being contested and peace was just a dream heroes constantly died to obtain for us all."

Ice queen growls to say, "I say we start with public executions again. Remind those rowdy few that we are in charge for a reason."

Ice queen smirk turns sour as Lizard princess says "But we all can't just execute those that speak out about us Simone. Look Finn is the hero we should wait for his input before casting such a huge decision. After all any kingdom spanning laws we make must also be informed to the heroes."

Breakfast princess says "She's right Finn as the current hero enforces our laws with a wider reach inside and around all our borders. We can't make such decisions without at least giving him a chance to give us a prospective we aren't seeing."

For several minutes these talk continue until Breakfast queen suggest they hold further talks until later. The consensus being that they all need rest. As the princess and queens make their way home Ice queen takes a hallway by herself. Ducking into a room she smiles as her pet Patience bows to her.
