Extras!

I have too many notes about this.

Star Wars expansive material is what made it great. For me it was the video games and those rare times the library had comics from the 80s.

I wrote this unconsciously, but the guiding model was a story to open up the universe for anyone to explore. So that other creatives could make art from it.

These notes are for anyone with creative thoughts or habits.

Anyone can take these, or elements from these, for anything they want.

There are notes still unwritten, but here is most of it organized:

I. Side Stories

The script all only take place during the most important moments in this war. Plenty is missing from the story. Here are some of the better ones.

.

Poe's Musparl Tour

The city Poe visits after taking Rey's speeder. He immediately steals a gun from a gang member, then attacks a rival gang with it. This triggers a gang war.

Poe follows an injured gang member, giving him a lift to his boss' location. Now inside, Poe to takes the boss hostage, trading his life for a large sum of money and three crates of weapons. Gang members fight him long the way. The other gang saves Poe and takes him in.

Now in the other gang's headquarters, this gang takes their helmets off, revealing themselves as Su'Ka'Layans. Poe offers them the money for a ship. For the promise of even more Republic money, they agree. Poe gets a chance to leave on his own, they even give him the fixed codes to Su'Ka'Lay. Poe decides to stay to pick up Finn. He takes a chance to eat lunch, only for the Empire to raid the compound to crush the gang violence.

The Empire spots Poe. He rushes out, without the money or ship, only has the speeder and the crates attached. They chase him, and Poe returns to the script.

.

Finn's Prediction Training

Finn sucks at the Force.

Perhaps training alone on a stray planet will help him at least predict shots better. The Empire learns of this and hires the nearest bounty hunter. The hunter tracks down the failing Finn.

This bounty hunter is a sniper, using hovering drones to reflect his blaster from kilometers away. Readjusting them after every shot he takes. Impossible to predict, never giving away his position. Finn is easily outclassed.

The pressure gives Finn an epiphany: he doesn't need to see the entire image of the future, just the single point where the shot will hit. It only needs to be for a split second. Finn focuses, reduces the visions, no more sky, no more ground, no trail of the laser, no lightsaber, no Finn. He only sees a void —then a single blip.

Finn blocks the beam!

He is doing it! He can deflect the shots now that the window is so small. He even grows enough to extend it just a little, to see the tail of the shot. With this, he reflects the shot perfectly: it is sent back by the drones to the sniper, destroying the gun. Finn leaves the planet, an improved Jedi.

.

Hux and his pal Kylo Ren (this one's my favorite)

Kylo begins his first assignment as a Knight of Ren: to protect the Prince Jacob Hux, a captain currently. Now having a Knight of Ren, Hux feels emboldened to emulate the strategy of a famous general who shifted all his army as a distraction while he and a smaller team overtook the opposing general. The difference is Hux is an idiot.

Not only does the Cluster army not take the distraction, but his own army also becomes confused without their leader and takes massive losses. Only Hux's small ambush team remain, waiting for their opening. They become enveloped instead.

Kylo narrowly saves Hux by faking their own deaths. The two men stow away back to Ren. There, House Hux explains to Emperor Zalfan that "the army had abandoned Hux, and their prince should be awarded for surviving the treachery."

Hux denies this, states the enemy kept calm under his tactics, and his men were simply bested. He demands they all be buried with honors in the Imperial Graveyard. Kylo sees Hux has a good side. Zaltan sees Hux is the ideal idiot who could get rid of Kylo.

Zaltan gives Hux a new block of troopers for a second mission. Hux arrives and immediately proposes the exact same strategy. Kylo sees now Hux is the ideal idiot to get rid of him for Zaltan. Kylo sabotages Hux's plan and secretly plants his own. They win the day.

Hux goes on to gloat about this, and is granted a far more dangerous mission, a gift he gleefully accepts to Kylo's hidden disgust. The head of his house, Aquilla Galencia, begs Kylo to keep Hux alive as House Galencia would be blamed otherwise.

Kylo stays in this relationship for 10 years. Many hijinks to write about.

.

The Organas' Blood Vow

Han Solo is assassinated in the Love Lust Casino. His two children, Venileo and Shari quit their Jedi training and begin tracking their father's killer.

They quickly find a drug addict hitman working for the Eastern Syndicate. Venileo barely gets any information from the pathetic creature before the brash Shari kills him. A horrified Venileo restrains Shari, who defends her actions. The man said it was all over gambling debts Han had to Eastern Syndicate. Venileo tries to explain why that doesn't make sense, but Shari remains set in her blame. She goes off on her own to attack her new enemies.

Venileo infiltrates the headquarters first, hoping to stop Shari from making a mistake. He suspects more was at play around Han's assassination, especially learning all of Han's debt is being paid off by a third party today. Venileo wonders who it is, only to see an Imperial shuttle welcomed into the hideout.

Only for Shari to emerge out, having butchered everyone inside. A massive fight breaks out. Venileo kills the boss, the boss destroys the records, and his sister gets fatally injured. Her dying words:

"Imperial Family"

Venileo repeats these words as he joins the Republic Cluster military.

.

Rey's Bad Day

Someone always needed to be present when Rey was a child. Alone her lightning would trash the place. Rey's ability to fix object recruits her into a gang of bandits. They particularly like her work with the healing pods. Life is hard, but she has a home and the veneer of family. Her power growing as she gets older, until at 12 she begins casting visions.

Uncontrollable views of every possible future flood her eyes, and she becomes obsessed with the worst futures. Terrified, she insists no one can leave anymore! Only to freak out and say that no one can stay either. She feels totally trapped. A childhood friend tries to calm her down, only for Rey fo lash out and severely hurt the girl. Rey finally faints.

The close-knit crew is split on what to do. Many fear the girl. The leader Dagr decides they will take Rey and find someone who can help her -insisting they will travel together as a group. Half split off and leave (only to be attacked by a rival band of scavengers, as Rey predicted).

Rey awakens to see Dagr and his half inside a ship. She immediately sees every death that could happen here. Rey becomes erratic, her power lashes out trying to stop the ship, but accidentally destroys it.

Only Rey survives. Pure horror. The trauma sets in as she struggles back to her home. She buries every vision and suffocates her budding ability.

Rey makes it back. She is alone.

Until a straggler from the first group returns, having barely survived the attack. Rey tries to talk to him, but he only crawls into a pod, wordlessly demanding she heal him. Rey does so, then he leaves. Rey doesn't see another person for months, until a client needing healing drops on her doorstep. Rey lives like this for 5 years.

.

Life of Poe

Born an active child while his father was serving with the Republic Cluster Military. When he returns, he makes sure to beat Poe into obedience. His father has no true patriotism, only serving for the money and works to avoid real battles. Poe learns through him he only needs to look obedient and continues causing ruckuses then getting out fast.

At school Poe gets to fly a speeder and loves it. Breaks into it after hours to take it for a joyride, nearly getting caught. For his graduation, he follows in his siblings' footsteps and joins the military with no real other options. Unlike them, Poe has a real goal in joining: to fly a Pulsar.9.

Poe does remarkably well in the academy. Soon, he is the first Alderaanian accepted into the Elites. He finally gets in the cockpit of a Pulsar.9 for his first mission, only to immediately sense something is wrong. He catches the ambush in time to save himself but fails to save his fellow soldiers. The chase lasts over a week before Poe makes it back.

The Republic Cluster under General Organa has spun his story into propaganda, making Poe out to be a hero. He intends to quit, detesting General Organa's spin on this mistake that killed his team and nearly killed him. Heading home he learns his father was killed by the Empire while he was gone. Poe is offered no catharsis. He continues to fly for the Cluster, the work keeping his mind off his life.

.

II. Document Guide for how these stories look:

As stated above, the script was made to open the world up for other creatives. The 2 years between scripts that Finn, Rey, and Poe spent together are called "the best days." Comic books, video games, episodic shows, etc. would be based in this timeframe. That, of course goes for fanfic as well.

The Important details:

.

The Eagle, loyal steed.

A more streamlined black Millennium Falcon type ship. This is the ship they all travel together in.

.

Poe, The Captain.

He takes whatever missions he wants, and his friends always go with him. When off-mission, he helps them. Famous in the universe, is a major propaganda figure for the Republic Cluster of Planets. Especially after VII. Hates his boss, General Venileo Organa. Most importantly, he is the son of Alderaanian refugees- a source of both pride and shame.

Strengths: Piloting Machinery, Excellent Improvisational short-term planning, Good Shot

Weaknesses: Merciless, Liar, Morally Split

.

Finn, Jedi Adventurer.

Rough Concept Art: (can be found on A3O on the same article: /works/44094120/chapters/111121630)

A good friend. He refuses to kill, even when the missions call for it. While weak with the Force, he uses his creativity to work within his morality and skill. The shadow boss to Poe, he usually makes the long-term plans for the group.

Strengths: Morally strong, clever under pressure, dynamic in fights, high knowledge of Imperial technology and culture, can make successful long-term plans

Weaknesses: Low Force power, Socially Awkward, Unambitious, Lacks the Courage to Confess to Rey

.

Rey, Struggling Student.

Rough Concept Art: (can be found on A3O on the same article: /works/44094120/chapters/111121630)

Goes by "Shika Dagr," tells Poe its for a 'fresh start.' Massive Jedi/original trilogy fangirl. The chaotic tank of the group. Does her best to help her friends while mastering her powers. Never seems to go perfectly. She lacks a formal education and was raised on propaganda, but remains mostly morally proficient. Will kill.

Strengths: Resurrecting Broken Machinery (only with knowledge of how they work), High Destructive Power, Good Shot

Weaknesses: Unable to make plans, Overly Concerned with being a "good" Jedi, Little Control of Powers Outside of Machinery, Lacks the Courage to Confess to Finn

.

Luke, the Teacher.

Is focusing on teaching the two young Jedi. He teaches Finn skills, and pretends to teach Rey skills while really teaching her moral lessons. Is much more concerned with Rey. Begrudgingly tolerates Poe and his Republic missions. Will only get involved in fights to protect the innocent.

Strengths: Still a top 10 Jedi, High Wisdom, Renowned Across Entire Universe

Weaknesses: Unable to depose despotic Nephew, poor teacher to Rey, general old person problems

.

BB8, the boy.

Just a ball of fun! Rey has heavily upgraded this normally disposable mining droid. She maxed out his personality chip to ease her loneliness on Faldur.

Strengths: Durable!

Weaknesses: Useless.

.

Empire, the Villains.

HATE FINN SO MUCH. They will do anything to kill the Traitor. Stormtroopers, ambitious Imperial Family members with their powerful Knights of Ren, mercenaries, and the devious attack Finn under their command. Poe is the second most hated. Luke third. They don't care about Rey/Shika at all.

Strengths: Extreme Loyalty, enormous wealth, great power

Weaknesses: Frothing Hatred of Finn, limited influence outside of core planets

.

General Organa, the Other Villain.

The general is a dark Jedi who uses his powers to maintain and control the Republic Cluster of Planets. He bastardizes and shames the Republic model it is supposed to be. Has Elites under him do heinous missions to maintain his power. Will threaten Poe with the Force if he disobeys orders, but this is rare. Poe will follow any order.

Strengths: De facto leader of the Galactic Cluster of Planets, top 30 Force user

Weaknesses: Blind by Revenge, Arrogant

.

Kylo, the Shadow.

Nothing revealed until after EPISODE VIII ESCAPE FROM REN.

.

And that's it! A bunch of fun shenanigans can happen with this. Honestly, I could write this forever, but I have spent too much time on this already.

.

III. Clarifications

Due to keeping the story an appropriate size for an industry standard scifi script, I cut some explanations that could be figureed out with context clues.

I could see elements still being confusing, so I'll explain them here. PM me what wasn't clear on and after answering you, I will update this section.

.

What was Hux's plan?

I am worried it might look like the MDS Krannek was Hux's idea. It absolutely wasn't. Operation Krannek had been going on for almost ten years, about when Hux and Kylo Ren were first starting their careers in the military.

The Empire knew the Cluster were making a Death Star. Having much larger territory, they were able to hide it's construction. The Empire has no territory to hide something so high profile, so makes pieces of it disguised as "terraforming missions." Most working on these had no idea.

They use espinoge to manipulate the Cluster into believing they have an operational secret Death Star. This prevents the Cluster from using their DS, and creates a stalemate. Chos was being used by both sides to bait the other into revealing their DS.

Hux's plan was to start making a second main reactor and get caught, convincing Organa they have no DS and can be attacked without risk.

This is actually Kylo's plan, who tricks Hux into thinking it's his own.

.

What was Kylo's plan?

Kylo's plan changes as the story goes.

First plan: Belittle Hux, get promoted. He hates Hux and wants to be solely responsible for this mission's success. If he was ever too carefree about this, Hux could kill him. And if he kills Hux in self defense (or Hux dies at all) he would be executed by the Empire. He must be subtle. When he brings up the trooper who didn't follow orders, he never thought it would become a credible threat. He can tell Finn's Force power is nothing.

Second plan: After learning about Rey's existence, he wants to use his pursuit of the Traitor to reunite with Rey. He starts being nicer to Hux in case he needs his help to get his cousin back safely. He is fully confident the Empire is about to win the war at this point.

Third plan: Once it becomes clear Finn has ruined this entire operation, Hux must become the fall guy. Kylo is going to be a suspect as well, and his prisoner would be found out. He needs someone else to take care of her temporarily. Finn becomes useful as "the greatest traitor," just for now. The show of power is to strike enough fear for them to seek out Luke and train to get stronger. Luke will then keep her safe.

This plan continues unseen. When asked, "Why aren't you injured?" Kylo responds, "it's how he fights." Kylo only wanted to imply it was some Force power they didn't understand, but gets very lucky because that becomes exactly how Finn fights. Kylo has many excuses prepared for when Finn finally dies, but it never seems to happen to his deep confusion. It only helps his "greatest traitor" narrative, which is good, but it really pisses him off for some reason.

.

If Rey's power is so great, why did Kylo never go investigate it?

This becomes more clear in EPISODE VIII ESCAPE FROM REN, but it is never clarified completely there either.

Kylo could tell something great was on the planet, but choose not to pursue it. He is not a man with hope. He only saw it as a possible problem if approached. Every time the Force reached out to him, he rejected it.

This reaching is what caused Finn to awaken. If Kylo would not answer the call, then another must. It turned from Kylo and sought another nearby. It would have found nothing had the conditioning units functioned. These normally program troopers to avoid "Force thoughts," like empathy. Without these controlling him, Finn had become the most empathetic person in proximity to Kylo. And while he is weak and ill-fitted to be a hero, he was the only one they could choose.

Finn is still quite poor with the Force. He can't tell he is being guided yet, and as a result does far too much on his own. Makes for a fun character tho'

IV. Cut Material

Most of cut material was technical jargon. The original dialogue these details were relayed through have long been destroyed, these are simple summaries.

SRR HEALING PODS

The healing pods first take a genetic sample from patient. It analyses this and creates a digital model around this information. This conclusion is paired with a scan of the the major differences in the patient, displayed on the front panel of the machine. A operator will then select the needed replacements. The patient is sedated, the pod is able to flip them when need. Lasers remove damaged tissue. Unlike the healing pods from the Original Trilogy that seemingly used water, these pods use gas to supply raw elemental material. Different lasers arrange these materials to match the requested tissue.

These pods have several major problems. The largest is the dense design leads to overheating and has been known to crash during operations. The next is when operating on deeper tissue, like internal organs or bones, the patients natural immune system the incomplete tissues the pods are constructing. As a result, the pods will attack this immune system. It will replace them, but this has also been known to be a problem later in life for patients. Rey shows concern since this was the procedure given to Finn. Finn doesn't mind. This scene was meant to show how little Finn cares for his own life, and how much he is willing to shrug off major violations to himself.

The scene concluded with Finn explaining the pods are only used for treating skin and other superficial injuries now.

.

Rey's Shuttle

This is the only cut scene I have a major problem with. Star Ships are extremely complicated, Finn just walking in and quickly eyeballing the ship and correctly diagnosing the problem in under a minute is highly unlikely. Originally, he talked to Rey about when exactly the shuttle would fail. From her descriptions they did a test start. Rey demonstrated knowledge of the shuttle by explaining the battery and the auxiliary battery are separated for atmospheric and space travel. But this was not the problem as it was start up that was failing. This leads to discussion about the engines. Rey thinks the engine is not getting enough hydrogen from the compression, and batteries are unable to use the hydrogen synthesizer to substitute. She was considering rigging an external system to make this happen. Finn then notices the generator is very worn. They do another test start and he can clearly tell the sound from the generator is off, way too slow. From there, the normal scene plays out.

You can see why this scene was cut.

.

V. Locations

Faldur

A red, dry carbon planet with no native population. It was soft-terraformed by miners to export synthesized carbon materials on the galactic market. During the Sideous Era, it was taken over by Sienar Fleet Systems who declared monopoly holding on the planet. It solely worked on constructing Imperial spacecrafts, but after Luke liberated the planet, all ongoing constructions were immediately halted. These failed machines dot the entire planet. (Content removed for EPIX spoilers)

The planet's GDP relies from exporting the materials off planet from the many space elevators that can be seen on the surface.

It is located deep in the Outer Rim, far from the Republic or Empire.

.

Su' Ka' Lay

A wet, old planet. Vegetation is composed of algae-variants, filling the roles equivalent to trees, bushes, and grass. The ground is black, the sky is permanently covered in thick clouds. The old inhabitants left long ago, leaving only ten ominous pyramids.

The new race of bird people populating are convinced the pyramids are a part of a longstanding religious prophecy. The Vatshnien Pirates are using these to intercept ships traveling in hyperspace.

.

Chos

A sterile rock, empty in terms of resources, useless in terms of location. Yellowish brown. Site of the longest and largest single sustained conflict between the Empire and the Republic. Completely destroyed by the DS Gammalann.

.

Agnomenon

Vice Admiral Hux's assigned ship. A typical Star Destroyer IV, meaning it has adopted 7? hangars on each side of the ship. This was designed to have every fighter inside launch as soon as the Star Destroyer arrives. Kylo was granted hangar 2 as a private domicile. Kylo converted the overhead security room to a garden where he meditates.

.

VI Name Meanings

I make names that aren't empty. Each carries a piece of our culture that came before. It's only right in my mind to continue those grand tales that stuck around in the human heart for so long. Most names come from Greek myth, as it is my favorite. I will often pair these with a Scientific word to make the name "Sci-Fi Fantasy," which Star Wars is. Star Wars itself has a habit of using Biblical names as well in Luke and Leia. I continue this trend in making royal humanoids on Coruscant take on Biblical names, only sometimes mixing them with Science terms. I am only providing the names that have been revealed as of Episode VII.

.

MDS Krannek

A shuffling of the letters in "Kraken," the the ship eating giant octopus of European myth. It shares the creature's depiction, but its symbolic role derives from the inaccurate Hollywood depiction of the Greek sea monster. While called "Cetus" in Greek myth, the famous adventure film "Clash of the Titans" changed its name to Kraken, which is good. It's a better name. It is the unstoppable monster sent by Poseidon to kill Andromeda, and slain by the hero Perseus using the head of the villainous villainess Gorgan. Symbolic of this unstoppable monster (Content removed for EPIX spoilers).

.

DS Gammalann

Sounds showy, telling of General Venileo Organa's character. Like many names, it mixes Science and Fantasy. The first half of the name comes from the "gamma rays" emitted from nuclear fission reactors/bombs. An appropriate science addition. The second half of the name derives from "Camlann," the location of the final battle where King Arthur and the sorceress Mordred both perish. An appropriate addition as this is where (Content removed for EPIX spoilers).

.

Emperor (removed for EPVIII spoilers) Zaltan

The first name (removed for EPVIII spoilers), a reference to the Biblical king who (Content removed for EPIX spoilers). His last name Zaltan sounds like Sultan but begins with a Z. I thought this sounded cool, and referred to a ruler. Functional.

.

General Venileo Organa

His first name combines Galileo, Venn, and Leo. Galileo defied the church very publicly with his heliocentric theory. However, he was unable to explain the many issues his model had that their elaborate geocentric model could explain. His head may have been in the right place, but both his arrogance and lack of knowledge ruined him against his enemies. Symbolic for when the General (Content removed for EPIX spoilers). Venn refers to Venn Diagram, known for being circular and finding similarities between concepts. Venileo's DS Gammalann is a "circular" structure he is connected to, and is himself a man of many gray areas. Compare and contrast him to Palpatine, and you will find much of the same. Leo meaning both Lion and King. A proud king. Unelected, but unopposed. His power implicit and intimidating.

.

Synoscan

Greek word for "total" and then the English word "Scan." A total scan.

.

Datas Skywalker

(Content removed for EPIX spoilers)

.

Jacob Hux

Jacob refers to the Biblical character of the same name, a scoundrel who uses trickery and his mother's blessing to take his competent Brother Esau's land. It's only half symbolic. Hux is not intentionally tricking to Kylo, as he believes they are friends. It is true however, that he is the ruler over a much more competent Imperial Family member by the blessing of his Patriarch.

.

Agnomenon

Partially named after the doomed King Agamemnon, who rallied the largest union of separatist city states to his cause, and after the attack's success, fate undoes the success, and is violently killed by his wife. Symbolic of Hux rallying the Empire to his plan, succeeding, fate undoing his success, and then getting violent killed by his most trusted friend. A man he considered a life partner, as shown when he installed (Content removed for EPVIII spoilers). The other half of the word is "phenomenon," a scientific term for an observable event.

.

Su'Ka'Lay

All the names here are references to the names of birds. An'Di'An refers to the Andean Condor. Cu'Ra refers to the sun god Ra, the Egyptian condor-headed god, a reference to the pyramids nearby. The "Cu" is only a slant for "Cool," as he is like a "Cool Ra." He owns a bar where it is always cloudy near mysterious pyramids. Quite cool. I forget the bird the planet is named after.

.

Shari Organa

Sherry is a type of wine that feels very classical, even titular in the Cask of Amontillado ("Amontillado" being a sherry). Her dark story down revenge tries to emulate these similarly classic tales of woe. The name was reworked to look to have the Sci-Fi feel. It is also a pretty, feminine sounding name.

.

Shika

Refers to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The race of royal attendants, the Shiekah, most notably Impa to Zelda. Zelda herself becomes one of them while in hiding. Symbolic of Rey taking Shika's name while in hiding herself.

.

Jedi Vilpus

Refers to Vulpes, the scientific classification of the genus for Foxes. Further refers to the mythological foxes of Japan, described as shapeshifting tricksters.

.

Faldur

Sounds like failure, falter, and Baldur. This planets myths are based around the Norse.

This is a land of failed Imperial projects, including the plan Kylo and Hux are making. As well as Rey's "failure" to launch and how she "falters" trying to leave. (Content removed for EPIX spoilers). Baldur only had one small weakness. Kylo and Hux's plan only had the one small weakness in Finn. Even Rey, having been raised on this planet has (Content removed for EPIX spoilers).

.

Dagr

Refers to the god of the same name, meaning "day." A sunny man who led Rey's group. Also sounds like "dagger," suggesting being dangerous, but also implicitly treacherous. Symbolic not of his stabbing Rey in the back, but his love of her betraying him.

.

Musparl

Refers to Muspelpheim, the Norse world of fire. "-arl" was added as it sounded like "snarl." Combining to suggest a hot, violent city.

.

Galencia

The family name is a mix of "galaxy" and "Valenicia," a former Roman colony now a lovely city in Spain. I chose this name for the city's coat of arms looking vaguely sinister and has a classical sound to its name.

.

Silva Galencia

The first name is a reduction of the name Rhea Silvia, the mother of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. Curiously, this name literally connects her to Rey, but that is a coincidence. It is symbolic of the Royal Mother's child being threatened and her having to abandon them to be raised by another, as well as the inevitable return of the royal child to (Content removed for EPVIII spoilers).

.

Kylo Ren's true name: (Content removed for EPVIII spoilers)

I am only including this to make clear his name is not Ben Solo, this Kylo Ren is not blood related to the Skywalker family. When Vilpus says "He used to be called Kylo Skywalker," this was a name given to him by the people. Without giving too many spoilers, he trained with Luke under the alias Kylo to keep his birth as an Imperial Family prince a secret. They spent so much time together, and Kylo was so talented, that the last name seemed fitting.

I apologize this character his not Ben Solo. That's extremely different. If it wasn't very rude, I wouldn't have given him this name. This leads to the final section of notes...

...

VIII. Hypothetical Renamings

I really like having constructed meaningful names, and it is PAINFUL to use the names of the characters from the films. I still have to of course, the inception of all the characters are identical, the hot shot pilot, the evil stooge, the good stormtrooper, the lonely powerful sand fangirl, its clear who all these characters are. However, I have made a lot of changes to them. They don't really feel like any of the characters at all now. And even worse, their names don't have any depth (except for Rey to Rhea, but that's a coincidence). Here is how I would change them:

.

Hux = Tiryn

Refers to one of the great Myceanaean cities, Tiryns. Known most as the location the false-hero King Eurytheus, who continuously straps real-hero Heracles with impossible labors. Symbolic of Jacob Tiryn's relationship with Kylo/Fane.

.

Finn = Avery / Codename: VRE 03800 / True Name: (Content removed for EPIX spoilers)

Avery is fun to say, no large baggage with the name like other contenders such as James, Luke, Flynn, or Errol. He can carve his own identity with this name. (A minor point, my favorite Star Trek captain is Sisko, played by Avery Brooks. Both are black, but the characters have no similarities. It is a coincidence. Strangely, there is a trend of Star Wars using Trek actor's names, i.e. Neimoidians).

More impressive that Poe/Lok was able to make a name out of these letters, shows his creativity and improvisation better.

A more meta reason for the name. A currently feminine name that is traditionally masculine. Symbolic of returning the hero role to a male character, and to generally return the series to tradition. Simple story, lived tropes, and intensely felt emotions.

Deeper meaning for the character: An aviary is a large cage for birds. Symbolic of the Empire's hold on him and many, many others. Suggesting he is a bird within in, foreshadowing (Content removed for EPVIII spoilers).

(Content removed for EPVIII spoilers).

(Content removed for EPIX spoilers).

.

Rey = Meagohra "May" Galencia / True Name: (Content removed for EPIX spoilers)

Combines Medea, Mongo, and Pandora. Medea is a tragic Greek myth, a witch princess with great magic abandoned by those she loves. Plays a support role to the hero despite her power, and is often portrayed as a villain. Royal linage, a young woman, and an oppressed turned oppressor. (Content removed for EPVIII and EPIX spoilers)

Mongo refers to the Classic Flash Gordon stories that George Lucas originally wanted to adapt instead of Star Wars. Specifically this references (Content removed for EPVIII and EPIX spoilers). Her true name references the (Content removed for EPIX spoilers) of the book.

Pandora references (Content removed for EPIX spoilers).

Naturally, if this was her name, I'd change her mother's name to Herphra, referring to Hermes and Aphrodite. Symbolic for (Content removed for EPIX spoilers)

.

Poe = Lok Lotumac

He is Alderaanian, and the most other famous name from this planet is Organa, such as organic? To fit this light theme his full name refers to the Hemlock,(conium maculatum) a dangerous plant that ties him to the other Greek words in this Trilogy, as it is the poison that killed Socrates. The last name is a mixing of hemlock's scientific epithet and it sounds like "automatic." as he is as fast, reckless, and dangerous as an automatic rifle. His full name then becomes a gun "Locked on Automatic"

His first name also refers to Loki, symbolic for (Content removed for EPIX spoilers).

.

Knights of Ren = Knights of Andra

Meaning "man," these warrior slaves are still people somewhere under all that conditioning.

.

Kylo = Fane Andra

Feign is a tactic to pretend to be affected, as he takes many loyalties and pretends that certain people affect him. Not many can read his true motivations. Meaning "Fake Man." In the past he was known as Fane Skywalker, meaning "Fake Skywalker," fitting as he is the most tortured by Luke Skywalker Syndrome. (Content removed for EPVIII spoilers).
