Welcome to another chapter of The World Has Fallen. Warning in this chapter for there are character deaths.
The World Has Fallen
Chapter 3
Somewhere Over Europe
Deckard Lennox and his Cemetery Wind unit were inbound in their plane towards Ukraine towards their mission to retrieve classified documents from a secret location in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
After Russia invaded Ukraine, Deckard and his team had just gotten back from an assignment in Pakistan when they received a notification that a classified undercover United States safehouse that CIA agents were using was endangered and the agents had to bail while they had the chance, unfortunately, important documents were left behind. The documents had yet to be found by the Russians, but Major General Carter Wulfric wanted Deckard and his team to retrieve the documents before they fell into the wrong hands. Deckard and his team loaded up 3 of their new trucks called the Demon, a new vehicle designed for the ASF units. The Demon was modeled after the M12A1 Light Anti-Armor Vehicle, also known as the Rocket Warthog from Deckard's favorite video game series, Halo. The Demon is painted black and has white paint stripes lined through the base. Its seats are also white and its tires have a darker tone than the black part of the Demon. Unlike the Warthog that appears in the Halo video game, Deckard's Demon has four seats for one driver and three passengers and space in the back that a fourth passenger can use to operate the gun, making a total of five military personnel per Demon. The armament of the Demon is two M134 Miniguns and two M240 machine guns that retract from the hood, with one M134 Minigun and one M240 machine gun appearing on the left side of the hood and one M134 Minigun and one M240 machine gun appearing on the right side of the hood. It is also armed with two 30 mm (1.18 in) M230 gun pods that retract from the sides, with one on the left and one on the right. It has a 50-caliber M2 machine gun that retracts from the back of the truck where the gunner stands. Finally, it has small smart tracking missiles that can be fired from a special place underneath the truck. Also with the high suspension making the truck a monster off-road, the truck was a perfect military creation.
The truck, however, was only half of the full creation. The Demon can transform into a modified stealth Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter painted completely in black. This was given the codename, Ghost. The Ghost also has light armor which allows it to fly faster and maneuver better than a normal Black Hawk. The Ghost was also built with a high-tech cloaking device, making it invisible on radar, meaning the enemies won't see it coming until it's too late. The armament of the Ghost makes it look like a flying tank. The Armament of the Ghost's guns includes two 7.62 mm (0.30 in) M240 machine guns, two 7.62 mm (0.30 in) M134 miniguns, and two 12.7 mm (0.50 in) GAU-19 Gatling guns. The Ghost also has four hardpoints, 2 per ESSS stub wings, with provisions to carry a combination of rockets and missiles. The armaments of the Ghost's rockets and missiles include 70 mm (2.75 in) Hydra 70 unguided rockets in an M260 7-tube Hydra pod, four AGM-114 Hellfire laser-guided air-to-ground missiles, and 2 AIM-92 Stinger heat-seeking air-to-air missiles. The Ghost is also equipped with a 30 mm (1.18) M230 gun pod and a VOLCANO minefield dispersal system.
The M12A1 LVVA codename was the Demon and the Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter codename was the Ghost, but since these two vehicles were merged into one, these creations were called the Hell's Death Project and since these trucks can be folded up nice and neat, at least 10 of them can be transported on a C-17, however, the plane that Deckard and his team uses only has the capabilities to transport 3 of them.
"Alright here is the plan, I'm going to teleport near the Ukraine-Russian border and then sneak into Russia and make my way into Yekaterinburg to locate the CIA safe house, all of you are to remain here in case of an emergency plan," said Deckard.
"You got it, Decks," said Killshot.
"We're in dangerous territory boys, so be careful," said Deckard, as he disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
Deckard reappeared in a cloud of smoke near the Ukraine-Russian border and then hid in the shadows, as he observed the battlefield. Deckard poke his head out and took a look around at his surroundings and quickly teleported deep into Russian territory, and kept teleporting until he reached Yekaterinburg. Once in Yekaterinburg, Deckard quickly moved into the shadows and moved across the city into a secluded area with a small two-story house. Deckard quietly snuck into the house and began searching for the missing documents. Deckard found nothing on the first floor, so Deckard quietly went upstairs to the second floor and continued his search. As Deckard was searching in one of the abandoned rooms he felt someone behind him, and quickly as possible, Deckard turned around and prepared to throw one of his knives at the intruder, but stopped dead in his tracks when he saw who was behind him. Deckard's gold color eyes were locked onto a certain canine that he has loved since they first met and had been married just two months ago. Standing in front of Deckard was a small West Highland Terrier with white fur, purple eyes, pink eye shadow on her eyelids, and a dark brown nose. The West Highland Terrier has pointy triangular ears with fluff on the insides and fluff on each of her cheeks. The West Highland Terrier was in a black suit with pink and white trim, she also had on a magenta collar with a crown pup tag. After a minute or two of silence, Deckard lowered his blade, still not believing that Sweetie was standing right in front of him.
"What are you doing here, Sweetie?" Asked Deckard, still confused about why Sweetie was there.
Sweetie didn't respond, but instead walked right up to the white wolf with silver komodo dragon scales and kissed him right on the lips. Deckard was stunned for a minute but kissed back enjoying having his lover with him again.
"I missed you," said Sweetie, as she and Deckard parted their lips from each other.
"I missed you too, but why are you here?" Asked Deckard, still trying to figure out why Sweetie was there.
Sweetie's face changed from excited to worried, scaring Deckard a little.
"Are you here for some missing documents?" Asked Sweetie.
"Yeah, why?" Asked Deckard, realizing something was wrong.
"We need to leave now!" said Sweetie, grabbing Deckard's arm and beginning to pull him towards the door.
"Sweetie, what's going on?" Asked Deckard.
Suddenly the sounds of multiple vehicles pulling up, the sound of doors opening and closing, and the sounds of many footsteps coming toward them filled their ears. Deckard went to a window and took a peek outside, but when he did he saw multiple canines and human soldiers pointing their guns in his direction.
"GET DOWN!" Yelled Deckard, as he grabbed Sweetie and threw them both to the ground just as all the soldiers outside opened fire on the two canines.
Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA: Crusader Industries Headquarters.
"What do you mean it was easy?" Shouted Morgan, the CEO of Crusader Industries as well as lead designer in most of what Crusader has made. He also was an informant to the ASF, mostly the Nightwatchers. His company is one of the only ones in the world that has the power to get what they want when they want by any means necessary without the public or politicians knowing. That mostly comes down to their technology but also incredible intellect in the Cyber field.
"It was too easy. That is what we mean. Not a single one of us was hit by anything and all the members are dead," Chase would state to the CEO.
"Did you get the manifesto the government wants?" Morgan asked, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Fuchs would then speak in his German accent, "Yes. We also got the Abstergo shipping manifesto you wanted."
This made Morgan sit up in his chair, "You did?"
"They didn't bother destroying anything. If they knew that we would be coming we wouldn't have found either Abstergo or the Chinese shipping," Fuchs said as he handed over the Abstergo-marked paper.
Morgan would start to read through the shipping manifesto and was not pleased with what he saw, "Hmm, says here that they were shipping some more weapons of Chinese and Russian make to somewhere in California."
"Isn't Storm's Headquarters somewhere in Alaska though?" Skye asked.
"You're thinking of the Atlas Wolves. Those damn terrorists," Chase growled under his breath.
"Where the headquarters are is not what I was after," Morgan stated as he looked at the final page that held new information. He seemed to have found what he was looking for and showed it to the Nightwatchers, "This is what I wanted to confirm."
The four members of the ASF team would read what Morgan was showing them.
"All future and current orders to the Atlas Wolves are hereby suspended permanently. Lupe has served its purpose. Make sure to exterminate them immediately. They should not know and be taken by surprise." The manifesto stated.
The Nightwatchers would stare at the paper appalled by what they just read.
"If I know Lupe, he already knows if not has taken steps to protect his assets," Fuchs said.
"And that is the problem," Morgan continued, "Even if China and Russia pulled everything away from Lupe, that brilliant wolf will find a way to make them regret it just like he did the US government many years ago."
"But that also means that they are not being supplied anymore and we can take them out and have one less group to worry about," Skye said.
"We are on the brink of World War Three and plus when was the last time Lupe and his group attacked anything remotely connected to the US and its allies?" Morgan questioned.
That statement made the Nightwatchers stop talking and start to think. Trying to remember the last attack they could remember was on Storm's gang. Lupe has kept his word and hasn't attacked anything related to the US or them. All of his attacks have been on rival gangs, and terrorist groups, especially Storm's being one of his main targets.
"Exactly," Morgan said after a long silence, "You can't recall."
"Lupe has actually been helping us indirectly by attacking our targets before we hit them sometimes and leaving everything we want," Chase recalled.
"He has, hasn't he," Fuchs agreed.
"But now he has no supplies coming in or at least no new stuff. Who knows what kind of setup he has in Alaska. He could have taken measures to counter such a shift in power and made his HQ self sufficient," Chase realized.
"Indeed. But he still needs a supplier," Morgan would smile.
"Please tell me… no," Chase groaned.
"Think about it. War is brewing and Lupe has new hate for Russia and China. Not that we need more allies, but the Atlas Wolves have bases all over the world with at least one in most countries. He can attack anything at a moment's notice. His followers are fiercely loyal to him and probably would not hesitate to obey his order," Morgan explained.
This would make the Nightwatchers go back into thinking. The CEO was right, but how right was he?
Just then their dog tags would activate and an all-call was put through. "Attention Nightwatcher personnel, report to your post immediately. Further instructions will be given to you when you arrive."
"That's our cue to leave,"Skye said, turning for the door.
"Good hunting Nightwatchers," Morgan said as he sat at his desk and watched them leave.
Yekaterinburg, Russia, CIA Safehouse.
Deckard had teleported him and Sweetie outside and deep into the woods and then proceeded to make sure that their attackers wouldn't be finding them anytime soon.
"What the fuck was that!?" Asked Deckard, now that he and Sweetie were alone and he could get some answers.
"Those were soldiers that Storm had hired to ambush you and your team," said Sweetie.
"Why?" Asked Deckard.
"They were only hired to ambush your team to keep you distracted long enough for the true objective," said Sweetie.
"Which is?" Asked Deckard, as he looked at Sweetie with a questionable look.
Sweetie looked at Deckard with sorrow and looked as if she was afraid of telling him.
Deckard looked at Sweetie as if he understood what she meant.
"Are you saying that this was just a distraction and a diversion to keep us busy?" Asked Deckard.
Sweetie nodded her head yes.
"Once I found out what their plan was and how I was supposed to play a part in it I defected from Storm's gang and made my way here to warn you," said Sweetie. "However, Storm figured out about my love for you and ordered my execution along with you and Cemetery Wind."
"Killshot, get the team back to Adventure Bay now!" Commanded Deckard.
"Why? Are you okay?" Asked Killshot over the comms.
"I'm fine, but this mission was just a distraction and a diversion to keep us away from Adventure Bay," said Deckard. "Get the team back to Adventure Bay, I'll find my own way home."
Copy that, Killshot and Cemetery Wind out" said Killshot over the comms.
Deckard hung up and turned to Sweetie.
"We need to get out of here, how did you arrive here?" Asked Deckard.
"An advanced military plane, it's parked on a private airfield," said Sweetie.
"Alright, that's our destination, let's go," said Deckard.
Nightwatcher's Base, Outskirts of Douglas County Colorado. (In the Mountains)
The four elite ASF Nightwatcher operative canines would arrive back at their base that was built under a mountain. The drive to the entrance would be several miles away from the main road and would be nothing but dirt. From there and behind a hill the entrance would be a massive bolder turned blast door. The door would only open for the four members of the group and no one else. Not even the President of the United States of America could get in without special permission from the CIA, ASF, and all four members.
Chase and Fuchs would be driving up the several miles long driveway in their new Rezvani Hurculars 6x6 battle truck that has been modified to be completely bulletproof up to 50. Caliber, installed smokescreen generator, tack dispenser, and a truck bed that holds all the team's gear ready at a moment's notice. As per ASF standards, it would have the American flag on each side next to the passenger and driver doors. The truck would be tan with black trims and reinforced wheels and tires resistant to bullets. It would also have a master com speaker system so inside they can talk to the outside and to top it off they would have red, white, blue, and amber lights and sirens that can be turned on when they are part of a convoy or need to get to somewhere urgently.
Skye and Rosalie would be arriving at the top of the mountain where they would land the team's helicopter which was a modified Airbus H160M helicopter armed with a side-mounted drone launcher that fires suicide drones and two side-mounted M134 miniguns for the gunners. The H160M is equipped with the latest radar and even sonar capabilities and acts as the team's aerial transport or escort. The two female canines would land the helicopter and the platform would retract into the mountain. The opening would close and it would look like nothing ever happened.
The team would have their vehicles secured and then immediately would head to their command and control room where there was an urgent message.
"Are we all here?" Chase asked as he and Fuchs came into the room where Skye and Rosalie would already be waiting for them.
"Yes sir," Skye answered. Yes the German Shepherd and Cockapoo were in love, yes they did want to have puppies one day but now was not the time. The job which by far is the best job in the world comes first.
Chase would nod and go over to the main console in the CIC. A light would be flashing and he would activate the transmitter while Fuchs made sure it was fully encrypted. When the call connected, their commander, Atlas, would show on the main screen. He seemed a bit unsettled.
"Nightwatchers," He addressed them, "I have called you here for a debriefing of your last mission and to tell you some interesting news that could change the course of history as we know it."
"First things first, debrief," Chase stated.
"Alright, your mission at Red Cliff was a success and got us the documents we needed. We have already deployed raid teams to the locations where the documents said they stored or at least received more arms and ammunition from Abstergo, China, and Russia. What we have also found out from Crusader is that the Russians, Chinese, and Abstergo no longer support or supply the Atlas Wolves," Atlas explained.
"Sir permission to speak freely?" Fuchs would ask.
"Granted," said the commander.
"I find it awfully weird why the Atlas Special Forces have basically the same name as the Atlas Wolves, and you," Fuchs concurred.
"I would have to agree sir," Chase agreed.
"My mother gave me the name that I have because she said I would explore the world using the World Atlas. I can only guess why Lupe chose the same name for his organization for he does have bases all over the world and is not reported on the Atlas. ASF got its name for it is a United States International Special Forces group. Therefore Atlas was used instead of world or global for the GRF is already a thing and 'world' wouldn't sound right for the Russians and Chinese are very against the ASF because it directly responds to their illegal aggression. That is why the ASF is a thing under the guise of the CIA and Interpol," Atlas explained, "Anyway back to the moment at hand. Due to this news about the Atlas Wolves, we immediately started to come up with a plan to raid their bases around the United States and her allies until I pointed out that they haven't been targeting us but instead focused their efforts against Strom and his gang and other rival organizations. After we did a bit more digging we found out that the last attack on any of the US or her allies by the Atlas Wolves was against the traitor Jason Cage and the subway station in Germany that was mostly caring would-be suicide bombers. We can't ignore the fact that civilians were killed and a good number of troops in those encounters but both were good two to three years ago at this point."
"So what is the plan with the Atlas Wolves now?" Skye asked.
"That is why this transmission has to be encrypted again. Standby," Atlas would state, and then the screen went black. The Nightwatchers would look at each other with confusion. What did Atlas mean when he said it needed to be encrypted again. Either way, Fuchs encrypted again and Atlas came back but on one side. One the other was the leader of the Atlas Wolves himself. Lupe.
XXX
The Nightwatchers barked and growled at the sight of the wolf. There wouldn't be shouting, however. The canines were understandably pissed that what would be the enemy was now talking to them in their own base. Lupe would have a neutral look but Chase could tell that the Wolf was stressed in some way and almost looked kind of remorseful.
"Lupe, you have to tell them exactly what you told me," Atlas stated.
Lupe would nod and then speak. The Nightwatchers would listen, mostly because they had to because of their commander but also wanted to hear the wolf out.
"Nightwatchers," Lupe would start, "You have no real reason to trust me and I don't blame you but I plead that you listen to me because I have information on the Royal Cartel and where they are going. I know because one of their own defected and broadcasted on one of my channels everything they were planning."
"Everything that Lupe is about to say, Nightwatchers, has been unfortunately confirmed by our own satellites and Deckard himself. You must listen," Atlas informed the team. Chase would nod speaking on behalf of the whole team.
"Your friends in Adventure Bay are in grave danger. The transmission we received gave a when, where, how, synopsis of what is going to happen. Strom's target is your friends, the PAW Patrol," Lupe warned.
Skye scoffed, "Yeah, I'm sure Strom has enough to overwhelm a fully blown military outpost. Armed with some of the best equipment and weapons. Strom can only dream that he can get our friends."
Chase looked to Skye with a face that said, "He has done it before."
"That is where you are wrong Skye," Atlas interjected, "Strom has attacked major bases throughout NATO and other American allies with some moderate success but not a lot. The point is, Storm is not afraid to assault an American base now. Adventure Bay is just a small outpost among many others."
"Strom is having all his North and South American groups converge on Adventure Bay while his Europe group harasses and delays Deckard and his team. He wants to hurt you where it hurts most and that is with your friends, your family," Lupe explained, "I also have a full three terabyte drive that has top secret information about new weapons the Chinese and Russians are getting from Abstergo. It also has past, present, and future ship outs for the weapons and equipment. I also have war plans they may use to attack the United States itself. I have to give it to you in person to pass it up to your chain of command."
"Great, but the first order of business are our friends," Chase growled.
"Yes, Nightwatchers. You are being sent straight to Adventure Bay. A C-17 is already landing at Centennial Airport. Due to the closed airspace around Adventure Bay, you will be flown in at a field that is as close as possible. From there deploy and make your way into Adventure Bay as fast as possible. With luck, you will be there before Strom and assist your friends," Atlas ordered.
"One question sir," Chase said, wanting to ask a question that was very important.
"Go."
"What about the warehouses?"
"They were taken care of by the military forces there. There is nothing coming from them. That may be one of the reasons why Storm is closing in," Atlas stated.
"We'll leave immediately," Fuchs stated, thinking this conversation is over.
"I look forward to seeing you soon," Lupe said but before anyone could say something he ended the call on his end.
With that Atlas would finish, "You are authorized to go code three. Go as fast as you possibly can." Then he ended the call.
Chase turned to his elite troopers, "Gear up. Rosalie, Fuchs, you are going to be in our Earthroamer. I'll take the Hercules and the armory trailer. Skye, load what you can into your H160M and make sure all rocket pods and ammo are filled and ready for a battle."
The three canines stood at attention and then shouted, "Yes sir." Then they went to get their gear and vehicles ready. Within less than an hour, the Nightwatchers would be leaving their base. Chase would take the lead in the Rezvani Hercules 6x6 truck pulling a black-colored trailer with emergency lights and blackened American Flags. Behind him, Fuchs and Rosalie would be in the team Earthroamer pulling a trailer that had extra armored fuel tanks. On both vehicles, red and blue lights would be flashing and when they made it on the road they activated their sirens and stepped on the gas. Skye would be piloting the H160M out of the mountain and would follow behind the convoy having a birds-eye view and be able to warn if there is a threat. Soon enough, Colorado Highway Patrol cars would also join the convoy escorting the team to Centennial Airport where the C-17 was waiting for them.
After driving they would quickly load the trucks into the C-17 and then the H160M would nicely fold up and fit right in the C-17's remaining space. The team gave the all-clear to fly and the C-17 got ready to take off. Soon enough they were in the air and heading to Washington, Adventure Bay.
Odesa International Airport in Odesa, Odesa Oblast, Ukraine
"Alright listen up, we need to get to Adventure Bay right now. The PAW Patrol might be facing a imminent attack from Storm's gang," said Killshot
"WHAT!" Screamed the other members.
"I don't know any details, but it looks bad," said Killshot.
"Then let's go," said Max as he headed for the plane.
Right before any of the members could reach the plane, a powerful electric shock bomb went off, sending a powerful serge of electricity throughout their bodies. Each member of Task Force Wild Card fell to the ground in a high amount of pain, twitching from the electrical shock that they just received. Multiple canines all dressed in black surrounded the fallen Cemetery Wind operatives and began their work.
"Alright let's make this quick, and just as a reminder some of you will die during this mission as it needs to happen that way," said the male canine in charge.
"Yes Sir," said the other canines as they continued to work.
XXX
Killshot Violette had finally gotten the team back on their modified Antonov An-26 plane after some difficulties and took off back towards the United States to get to Adventure Bay before their enemies could get to their friends.
"Why did we leave Deckard behind again?" Asked Shadow.
"He told us to get back to Adventure Bay as fast as possible and prepare for the imminent attack by hostile forces," said Killshot.
"How big of an attack force are we talking about?" Asked Smokey.
"The exact force amount is unknown," said Killshot.
"What's the plan when we get there?" Asked Sidian.
Before Killshot could answer, two missiles struck the back of the plane sending it spinning toward the ground. Luckily the modification that Deckard had put on this plane worked otherwise the plane would have been blown to bits.
"Mayday, mayday, mayday, this is Global Reaction Force 492, Cemetery Wind," called Killshot. "We've been hit and are going down somewhere in the Rysy mountains. It is in the crest of the High Tatras, which is the eastern part of the Tatra Mountains, lying on the border of Poland and Slovakia."
Killshot tried to keep the plane steady, but he and the rest of Cemetery Wind were about to have a very bad landing.
"Brace for impact!" Yelled Killshot just as the plane slammed into the ground flipping over some and bashing around like a ball in a pinball machine before finally resting right side up.
The Pentagon, Arlington Virginia
A young man was seen running down the halls of the Pentagon, accidentally bumping into a few people and knocking things over. The man quickly said sorry before continuing to run down the halls. Finally, he reached an office room where the United States Secretary of Defense was at the time. The man knocked on the door before entering.
"What is it, John?" Asked the Secretary of Defense.
"Mr. Allen Johnson, sir, we just received a mayday call from the G.R.F 492, Cemetery Wind's plane, the Sky Striker," said John.
The Secretary of Defense perked his head up at the news of the Cemetery Wind's plane being taken down.
"Any news on their current status?" Asked Allen.
"No sir, the mayday call was broken up into pieces, and we haven't been able to trace their location yet," said John. "However, we've also confirmed that Captain Deckard Lennox is trapped in Russia with an unknown ally."
"Thank you, John," said Allen Johnson.
John left the room leaving the Secretary of Defense alone wondering what will happen now, the Cemetery Wind unit has been working non-stop for who knows how long with global conflicts happening around the world, and now that they are MIA one can only guess what will happen now.
Airstrip 12: Near Adventure Bay, Washington.
A single C-17 would land on the empty airstrip and as soon as it landed a folded helicopter and two ground vehicles were unloaded and readied up. It only took 15 minutes to get the helicopter configured and the vehicles readied and the Nightwatchers were off to Adventure Bay. They were approximately twenty miles away and they needed to get there as soon as possible. Chase could only guess that Strom's scouting parties have already made it and are setting up. One thing they did have going for them was the element of surprise. Or so they thought.
As the convoy was making it to Adventure Bay Chase would get on the radio and contact his fellow Nightwatchers.
"Nightwatchers. Eyes sharp, anything can happen," Chase said over the radio.
"Roger that," Fuchs responded.
"10-4," Skye would also say from her helicopter.
The convoy would not have their lights and sirens on. There was no one on the road and it was barren. There was no use in using their emergency lights as well. It was still broad daylight in the afternoon.
Chase would feel uneasy. He knew something was about to happen but what. Just then Fuchs came over the radio, "Sir, do you smell that?"
"Smell what Fuchs?" Chase questioned.
"I don't know but something smells like gunpowder or at least some sort of explosive," Fuchs clarified.
Chase rolled down the bulletproof just a smidge and he got a whiff of the smell. Instantly he called on the radio, "ALL STOP!"
Just as he said that a massive explosion would go off right in front of him. He somehow just dodged death right there and then even though the vehicle is in would have tanked it anyway. Less damage the better.
As debris fell from the sky, Chase activated the AI-controlled turret in the back of the truck which was a single 7.62 minigun. The AI would immediately identify targets and open fire. When Chase heard his gun start to fire he knew they were in what would have been an ambush.
"Evasive maneuvers and stay together. Weapons free," Chase ordered as he started to drive like hell with Fuch right behind him. Above, Skye would engage the enemy with everything the H160M had to throw at them. From the shit ton of missiles and 50 caliber fire. She would unleash against the enemy. This however made her even more of a target for the gang members.
Instead of firing at the two trucks with no success due to their armor, the gang members would switch their fire to the helicopter. Skye would start to make maneuvers making herself harder to hit but when in close range and when the bad guys have a shoulder-mounted anti-air missile, it is almost impossible to miss.
"Skye, get out of here. NOW!" Chase screamed into the radio.
There was no response, "SKYE! Do you read?"
Nothing. Chase looked up through one of the windows of his truck and would see that the helicopter would be getting out of control. Then as if nothing could get any worse, a missile would shoot up into the air and hit the helicopter making it explode and crash right in front of Chase's vehicle.
"Fuchs, cover me!" Chase shouted into the radio and he got out of his truck.
Fuchs would then drive the armored Earthroamer in between the enemy and Chase as he looked through the wreck for Skye, his beloved, his mate.
While searching Chase would have his rifle out and would shoot to kill the enemy that tried to get on the other side of the bigger truck that was protecting him. After what seemed to him like forever he found Skye but he knew that just looking at her body he knew she was gone.
Skye's head had way too much blood coming from it and the bullets in her chest didn't help. Chase pushed his feelings away. He was still getting shot at and you are to never leave anyone behind whether or not they are alive or dead. He would grab her limp body from the helicopter debris and would put her in the back of the Hercules cabin and would get back in the driver's side and would proceed to take the lead with Fuchs and Rosalie close behind. Chase's AI minigun would have cleaned the house as much as possible and as soon as they were far enough away the minigun would retract back into the truck. They would be speeding as fast as they could to Adventure Bay. They need to get there now!
Somewhere in the Tatra Mountains
Killshot groaned as he regained consciousness. The landing was rough and with all the bouncing around and flipping over like a ball in a pinball machine was not the most fun. Killshot turned his head to the right and saw Sidian rubbing his head as he was recovering from the crash as well.
"Talk about a rough landing," said Sidian.
"Yeh, no kidding," said Killshot.
"Brother!" Yelled a voice from the back.
Killshot and Sidian turned their heads toward the back of the plane and did not like what they saw. Due to the severe nature of the plane crash, all of the boys who were in the back got tossed around and thrown from their seats. Frostbite was crying over the dead body of his brother. Snowstorm had a one-inch thick piece of wood going right through him, his eyes were closed and he was no longer breathing. For the first time a Cemetery Wind operative has fallen in combat, but Snowstorm wasn't the only one who died. After everyone was removed from the plane and the gear was recovered the dead members of Cemetery Wind included Max Shepherd, Tate Skylar, Flint Gunpowder, Snowstorm Wintergreen, Taser Shaw, Striker Crosstorm, and Seth Firestar. The seven deaths of these Cemetery Wind operatives leave only Shadow Ambrose, Smokey Clawven, Killshot Violette, Sidian Darkmoon, Frostbite Wintergreen, Delgado Torres, and Echo Switchblade alive. Deckard Lennox was still alive somewhere in Russia, but no one knows where.
Max had died from a broken neck when he was thrown from his seat, Tate was crushed between the wall and an equipment crate, Flint was impaled through the head by a piece of metal that was sticking out of the plane's left side, Snowstorm was impaled by a thick branch of wood through the heart, and Taser, Striker, and Seth had all gotten ejected from the plane and had died from numerous blunt force trauma injuries.
"What do we do?" Asked Echo.
"I've already sent out an SOS on a secured emergency signal that Deckard told me about in a case like this had happened and he wasn't here to help," said Killshot. "One of our new advanced Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is inbound to our location right now."
"I hope it gets here soon because we've got company!" Yelled Shadow, as two unidentified planes passed right over them, deploying multiple canine soldiers along the way.
Shadow, Smokey, Killshot, Sidian, Frostbite, Delgado, and Echo were standing behind some wreckage of the plane, boulders, and trees as the enemies opened fire on them. The remaining Cemetery Wind soldiers returned fire, but with half of their team dead and the majority of their weapons and gear destroyed in the crash, the survivors were pinned down and taking heavy fire.
"Boys, if this is the end, it's been an honor serving with you all," said Killshot.
"Same here" the others replied.
"FINNISH THEM!" Yelled the canine in charge.
Just as Killshot and the others were about to meet their maker, a few shots were fired at the canine enemies.
"You boys alright" came a voice above them.
Killshot and the others looked up to see a figure that turned out to be some type of large snake with his tail curled around a carbon fiber recurve bow with a red laser sight.
"Cyanide!? What are you doing here?" Asked Sidian.
"Looking for you two idiots," said Cyanide.
Cyanide slithered down towards the rest of the group. Cyanide was revealed as a serpentine pokemon that was mostly covered in black scales, but it has several markings on its body. It has yellow hexagon markings that run from its head to its tail, small yellow bumps on its underbelly, and various purple scar-like marks. Cyanide has elongated red fangs that protrude from its upper jaw and fierce red eyes. Cyanide's tail is partially red and has a blade-like shape.
"Everyone, this is Cyanide Tailblade, the final member of our trio group of mystery dungeons rescue team back home," said Killshot.
Shadow, Smokey, Frostbite, Delgado, and Echo introduce themselves to their newfound friend. Sadly their reunion was ruined when the bad guys started to shoot at them once more. The remaining Cemetery Wind operatives along with Cyanide shot back at their enemies. With a relit fire burning through Killshot, Sidian, Shadow, Smokey, Frostbite, Delgado, and Echo, the Cemetery Wind operative fought back with everything they had. Suddenly a gunship arrives on the scene and fires a barrage of missiles and gunfire at the bad guys, wiping them all out. A few minutes later a Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey landed in a clearing not too far away, Killshot and the rest of Cemetery Wind gathered their dead and loaded them onto the Osprey, Killshot then proceeded to enter a code on his phone which started the emergency destruction of what's left of the plane and any gear left behind so it doesn't fall into enemy hands.
Cemetery wind has lost half of their team today, but they gain another ally to join the fight. In all else, Killshot and the rest of Cemetery Wind are on their way home. The team settled down while the two pilots flew them to safety. Normally there would be talking among the Task Force Wild Card members, but they just didn't feel like talking… well except for two.
"Great, just great," said Sidian who was talking to Killshot.
"What?" Killshot asked as he turned to face his friend.
"Our mission has just began and I know it was part of the plan for some of us to die in the crash, but I was hoping for more of us to be alive, and to make matters worse, that fucking snake had to show up," growled Sidian who was eyeballing Cyanide.
"I know with him showing up is unexpected, but I'm sure we can deal with him, after all when our friends arrive and we reunite I'm sure our leader will make our new friend welcome," said Killshot.
"I hope so," said Sidian as he and all of the other Task Force Wild Card soldiers looked at the snake, who was cleaning his bow and not noticing the looks he was being given.
Adventure Bay, Washington
Chase and Fuchs drove like mad all the way to Adventure Bay. The military was already alerted of their presents and when they arrived at the checkpoint they were not stopped and were just let through. The guards did notice bullet marks on both vehicles and would inform the Lookout of the arrival and possible need for medical treatment.
Only minutes later would the two vehicles would arrive and finally stop at the top of the hill where the Lookout was. Here, Chase would get out of his Hercules and look around. He would see that there were makeshift tents that could house several soldiers, their gear, and other supplies. He would also notice that all around the plateau would be howitzer artillery batteries every few feet aiming in every direction towards the water. Armored vehicles, tanks, and other things would be scattered around. Then he would see the oak tree he and his friends loved to play with. He would notice that the swing was still there and he would have a flashback to when Ryder was alive and they were all having fun in the back.
As Chase was having a moment of remembrance Fuchs would get out of the Earthroamer and over to Chase with Rosalie right behind him with her mechanical gear ready.
"Sir?" Fuchs would ask his commander.
"..." Chase was still in a daze.
"Chase!" Fuchs would shout to get his friend back to earth.
Chase would shake his head getting back to the real world. He would look at Fuchs and Rosalie. They would look back at him with sorrow.
"I need to check Skye," Rosalie would manage to say with her thick German accent.
Chase would look down, take a breath, and then nod. He would open the back door and inside would be a bloody mess of what should have been Skye. On the way, Chase did what he could to stop the bleeding with gauze sheets while driving. Two Army medics would rush over as well and without hesitation would help Rosalie get Skye's body out of the back passenger seats of the 6x6 truck. Once on the ground, Rosalie would check vitals while the other medics started to prep for an IV.
Before they could Rosalie would put her paw up saying no, "She has no vitals. No breathing. No heartbeat. Nothing." She would then look to Chase who was trying to hold back tiers. Rosalie struggled with the words but she was the medic and the only one to call it, "I'm sorry Chase… sh-she's g-gone."
Chase would let out a stressed breath and look down. The two medics would then get a black sheet and would cover Skye's body. Chase was doing his level best to keep his bearing.
Soon enough the PAW Patrol would exit the Lookout excited to see their friends again. Marshall would get over to Chase and give him a hug saying, "It's good to see you again Chase."
Chase would manage to say, "You too." Rocky, Zuma, Rubble, Tracker, Everest, and Koda would all gather around the three Nightwatchers. All their smiles would turn into looks of concern.
Rubble would then say, "Where's Skye."
Chase took a sharp breath in and then looked over to the black sheet on the ground. The other canines would look over and also see the black sheet. Marshall was the first to realize this.
"*Gasp* Oh my God," Marshall would say.
Everest then put a paw to her mouth gasping as well saying, "Oh no. Chase."
Soon enough one by one each of the canines would realize that under that black sheet was Skye's limp body. The once cheery, outgoing, back-flipping, cockapoo was under a sheet, dead."
Chase would then manage to say, "She's… in a better place." He would look up to the sky and breathe again. "Let's… go inside."
Chase would then head over to the Lookout with Fuchs and Rosalie close behind. The rest of the Paw Patrol would follow except Everest and Marshall.
"You think he'll be ok?" Everest would ask the Dally.
"No? No one can be ok after losing a loved one. Chase is holding it down now but I'm sure he'll need someone soon. For the first time in my life, I don't think I would be much use to him though." Marshall would sigh.
"Maybe I can. I lost my family when I was young. It was really hard to move on from it but now look at me," Everest offered.
Marshall would smile at the husky, "I think he'll appreciate it. But not now, he probably has something to tell us."
"Agreed," Everest finished.
With that, they too would head into the Lookout and would go to the top where everyone else went.
