Lloyd POV: After beating that warrior we rushed back to the Bounty at top speed. Nya was in front of us, but we all got there basically at the same time. Zane and Kai were on the deck, but Kai was on the ground. Hugging himself and shaking really hard, with a terrified look on his face.
Zane stepped back as Nya rushed over and sat down next to him. She gave us all a look that clearly said that they needed to be alone. So we went up to the main room.
As soon as I closed the door Cole asked, "How is he doing?"
"I'm not sure, but I believe Kai is having a panic attack." Zane answered, and that made me sick to my stomach.
"That's… not good." I whispered, but he heard me.
"The trauma he suffered is greater than we thought. And he's finding it difficult to answer my questions. But I do have an idea about that." he said, and that caught my attention.
"What?" Jay asked, kinda looking out the window.
"Yuko was also there and seems to be able to recall events more easily. Perhaps asking her would be better." he said, reluctantly
He does have a point. She doesn't seem as traumatized as Kai, but she could be hiding it better since she was there longer. I hate to push anyone into talking about their past, but we can't keep going in circles like this. Especially if this Malic character is coming for Kai, and I'm not taking that risk.
"We'll try. But let's not push it too far." I said, and they all nodded.
Zane started up the Bounty and I looked out to Nya and Kai. From what I could tell Kai wasn't shaking anymore and they were talking calmly. I wish I could go out there and help, but I know I can't.
He needs his sister right now.
Nya POV: after they all left I turned my attention to Kai. His breath was as shaky as everything else and he wasn't meeting my eyes. I leaned against the side and waited until he caught his breath a little.
Once he calmed down a bit I whispered, "Are you okay?"
He still didn't meet my eyes, but shook his head a little. He wasn't ready to talk yet.
"That's alright. Take your time." I reassured, trying to sound gentle.
He just took some deep breaths and I waited patiently until he was ready. The Bounty started up and we left the area. Kai calmed down a bit more after we left and finally loosen his grip on himself.
"Feeling better?" I asked, and he nodded.
"Sorry for freaking out… That was a bit much." he said, sounding tired and still a little shaky.
"You were surprised. You can't help what you can't control." I said, gently wrapping my arm around him.
He let me do that and rested his head on me. Now that he calmed down he seemed really worn out. The others brought us back to Borg Tower and I helped Kai up.
But he was way too tired now to make it inside. Lloyd, as he walked over, noticed this and helped me take him to his room. He didn't really fight, but he could barely help us.
Fortunately he still had some blankets and pillows here and we were able to make sure he was comfortable.
He was out when we closed the door and I asked, "Why did you guys head for Borg Tower?" As far as I knew no one got really hurt.
"We were going to try and talk to Yuko. See if she can explain things." he answered, but he seemed nervous about that.
But that was a good idea. She can definitely help us if she can. And I do want to know more about the man that hurt my brother.
