I wake up with my head on Damon's chest.
"How was your sleep?" he asks me.
"It was good, Blaise still asleep?" I reply with.
"No, he's awake, just enjoying playing with his feet." Damon says as we both hear a giggle. Damon smiles down at me.
"What's the plan today?"
"Well, Elena and Stefan came back here late last night. I thought you might want to help me wake them up and get my plan started." He offers.
"Alright, but we need to get Blaise up first." I reply getting up from his chest hovering over him.
He pulls my head back down to his giving me a kiss. He deepens the kiss flipping us over, that way he is on top. His hands roam underneath my top up my stomach. I try to move away a little.
"What's the matter?" He asks pulling away. He gives me a concerned look.
"It's just different then the last time you've seen it." I say a little self conscious.
"That's alright." He says with a shrug. He goes to kiss my neck.
"No Damon, I have stretch marks all over." I tell him.
"You got them from Blaise right?" he checks. I nod. "It's proof that you carried my son. That you grew him and take amazing care of him." I start to tear up. He pulls my head into his chest. "Your okay." He comforts. "We should probably go to Elena and Stefan. I can hear them waking. We will return to this later." He gets up off me.
I get up behind him. He gets Blaise and cradles him tickling his tummy. Blaise is giggling away. I sit on the edge of the bed just smiling enjoying the moment. We sneak into Stefan and Elena's room. Damon puts a toy in Blaise's mouth so he doesn't make tons of noise.
"Mmm. Good morning." Elena says to Stefan.
"I could get used to this." Stefan says cuddling up to Elena. I look at Damon realizing they don't know we are there.
"Rise and shine, sleepyheads." Damon draws attention to himself.
He takes the toy out of Blaise's mouth and tickles his tummy so he's giggling loudly again. Elena and Stefan both sit up, startled at our presence at the end of Stefan's bed. Both of them pull the sheets up to their chins, covering up any parts they may not want us to see.
"Damon! Please!" Elena calls out upset.
"What are you doing?" Stefan asks us.
"Oh, stop being smutty." Damon says he puts an arm around me and pulls me into his side.
He kisses the side of my head. Stefan pulls the sheets further up on Elena, making sure she's covered up properly.
"Seriously, get out of here!" Stefan yells at him.
"If I see something I haven't seen before, I'll throw a dollar at it. Now listen, we have some very important business to discuss." Damon says rolling his eyes.
"And it has to be right now?" Elena asks.
"Well, we have lots to do, now that we're all friends and working toward a common goal." Stefan and Elena exchange looks. Damon gets up from the end of the bed and turns around to face them. "So, in order to open the tomb, we need to find the journal to get the grimoire to undo the spells. First things first-since you are Elena Gilbert, you're on journal duty."
"Since when am I helping?" Elena asks confused. "Why isn't Evie doing it? She's a gilbert."
"Well, Stefan's helping, and you've taken up residence in Stefan's bed, ergo..." Damon trails off. "And Evie is looking after my son."
"You don't have to do anything that you don't want to do." Stefan turns to her to tell her.
"I'll look for it tonight." Elena finally gives in. Elena lays back down in the bed, pulling the sheets over her face.
"Good." Damon agrees.
"How do we know that this journal will hold the location of the grimoire? We're really going to take the word of this vampire? He seemed like a bit of a dimwit" Stefan asks.
"In lieu of any other options." Damon reasons. Elena pulls the sheets down and sits up suddenly.
"OK, what exactly is a grimoire, anyway?" She asks.
"It's a witch's cookbook." I reply with the quick explanation that Damon gave me once upon a time.
"Every spell that a witch casts is unique unto itself, so every witch would document their work." Stefan explains further.
"Yeah. Cookbook." Damon agrees with me.
"What about our mystery vampire? Dimwit obviously wasn't working alone, so whoever's out there knows who we are." Stefan asks.
"And I don't like that disadvantage, so..." Damon taps Blaise on the stomach. "Chop, chop. We start to walk out of the room, Damon turns around, and continues to walk backwards out of the room while talking to Elena and Stefan "You know, I really like this whole ménage a foursome team thing. It's got a bit of a kink to it." He chuckles and then gets serious. "Don't screw it up."
We both leave the room. Damon preps Blaise for a walk even though We are both still in our PJs. Ty has gotten up and says good-bye to us and leaves. He mentions that he will come back either tonight or tomorrow. I know Damon wants to talk without Stefan hearing so he's trying to get us out the door quickly. We head out and Damon takes a turn down a path in the forest. Blaise just looks around curiously.
"This is our regular route. I always wonder if he's looking for any differences from the day before." He tells me.
"Do you think they will tell you if they find the journal?" I ask him when we reach a distance from the house.
"No, but I'm hoping with you being around, but me just acting like your looking after Blaise then they will talk around you." Damon explains.
"Not likely, but it's worth a shot I guess." I say with a shrug.
We finish our walk then head into the house. We do some bonding with Blaise then we head back to my place for dinner. Damon offered to make dinner. I head up to my room to put away and fold Blaise's laundry that Aunt Jenna did. I come down stairs to Damon slicing a tomato and talking to Jenna, who is sitting on a counter with a glass of wine in hand.]\
"My father never approved of anyone I dated, which only made me want them more. Of course. But I definitely think he would approve of Evie." Damon tells her.
"Even after she had the baby?" Jenna asks curiously.
"He would have been proud of me stepping up and looking after them both. What about you?" Damon asks her.
"There were a few guys. Logan isn't the only loser I've dated." Jenna tells him.
I go sit beside her and Damon hands me a wine glass with something red in it. I give him a confused look he just nods to him. I take a sip realizing it's juice. I smile at him happy he thought to include me in something as simple as drinking of wine. He takes a sip of his glass. He puts it down on the counter and I take a sip from it as well. I give him a confused look expecting wine, but getting juice. He just chuckles and smiles at me.
"They ever find him? Or is he still missing?" Damon asks Jenna, ignoring my confused look. Damon has a towel thrown over his shoulder and is looking amazing. I hear Blaise babbling away. Damon is commenting on different stuff Blaise is holding from time to time.
"He's not missing. He's in the Bahamas working on his tan. Very entitled, that one. Marches to his own drum." Jenna drinks the resto of her wine. "He's a Fell. They're all snooty." She finishes.
Damon chuckles and walks over to Jenna, pouring more wine into her glass. She raises her glass to him and Damon turns back around to continue cooking, after commenting on a lid Blaise is holding apparently. I guess he's sitting beside Damon on the other side of the counter as I can't see him. I give Damon a confused look.
"He has a cupboard that is his at my place for when I'm cooking. It just has random little containers and lids of different colours and shapes. It has a few silicone spoons, a wooden spoon. All things he can use to explore while I get some peace while cooking. I made something for him right away here, before I started cooking." Damon explains to me. I nod thinking that's a great idea.
"We can keep that cupboard that way. It's a good idea." Jenna says agreeing with Damon. I nod agreeing with her.
"Hello, Elena." Damon greets as Elena walks in. Jenna turns around and Elena looks shocked to see Damon.
"Hey. Where have you been? We're cooking dinner." Jenna asks her.
"Is Stefan with you?" Damon asks. I know he's skeptical but he's playing a good part.
"Um - he'll be here soon." Elena stutters. Elena leans against the counter which Jenna is sitting on and watches Damon with distaste.
"Elena, quit looking at Damon like he's the devil." I comment having enough taking a sip of my juice.
"Says the girl drinking wine when she has to breastfeed her son." Elena shoots back.
"Actually, Evie and I both have juice in our cups," Damon says to her winking at me.
I lean over the counter to take a short video of Blaise banging a wooden spoon against the floor at Damon's feet. He hits Damon's foot a few times but Damon just moves not drawing attention to it and taking it in stride. I send the video to Lexi. She loves getting videos and pictures of Blaise.
OMG he is getting cuter every minute. Lee was laughing at Blaise hitting Damon. I swear men and their violence. Lexi texts me back.
I know it's crazy how they are, but Damon made Blaise a cupboard in both his place and mine for him to explore.
Jeese he is such a good dad.
I look up and I watch Damon place something at the dinner table and head back to the kitchen. Elena is carrying plates towards the table and Damon deliberately bumps into her.
"Whoa. Mmm." Damon says.
Elena smiles in an annoyed way and shakes her head as she continues on past Damon to place the plates at the table.
"Don't do that." Elena says.
"Do what?" Damon asks.
"You know what. That move was deliberate." Elena replies.
"Well, yeah, I was deliberately trying to get to the sink." Damon continues to refute. Jenna has left the room to go get ready for dinner. Elena looks back at Damon and scoffs. Damon, now at the stove, stirs a boiling pot of water.
"Speaking of Stefan, where is he? He's missing family night, which I am enjoying immensely." Damon says mockingly. Elena walks back into the kitchen to gather more dinnerware. Damon pauses briefly before changing the topic. "Is it real?"
"Is what real?" Elena asks.
"This renewed sense of brotherhood." Damon takes the spoon out of the pot and tastes the sauce. He also offers me a taste as well. It's an explosion of flavour. I give him a nod loving it. "Can I trust him?"
"Yes, you can trust him." Elena lies. I can see the lie on her.
Elena walks back to the table to place the napkins. Damon vamp-speeds over to her. Elena turns around and looks up at him.
"Can I trust him?" Damon asks looking right into her eyes.
"I'm wearing vervain, Damon. It's not going to work." Elena immediately jumps to the wrong conclusion.
"I'm not compelling you. I just want you to answer me. Honestly." Damon tells her.
"Of course you can." Elena lies.
Elena moves around Damon and back into the kitchen. Damon follows, he looks at me for confirmation. I shake my head when Elena isn't looking telling him that she is lying. Perks of being a twin, we can always tell when the other is lying.
"There was a time when I trusted him more than anyone." Damon admits.
"Trust breeds trust. You have to give it to get it." Elena lectures. I give her a glare.
"Both Stefan and Damon have made mistakes. Not everything is Damon's fault. Stefan isn't the saint you think he is." I tell her pissed off.
He told me the whole story. I know as much as both Stefan and Damon try to show that they hate each other they love each other very much. Just like I feel about Jer. No one can hurt him, only I can. I would kill for Jer, I would die for him. There was one point where I felt that way for Elena, but these days I'm not so sure.
"Are you lecturing me?" Damon accuses noticing what I did. Elena's glaring at me. Damon gives me a quick smile.
"Do you need to be lectured?" Elena asks placing her hands on her hips ignoring me.
"I just want her back. I'm sure you can understand that." Damon says gearing up for a threat.
"I can understand that you would do anything for her, yes." Elena replies clearly not understanding.
Elena walks past Damon and places a bowl on the table. Damon walks up behind her stopping right behind Elena's back.
"Then you understand what I will do if anyone gets in my way." He threatens like I predicted.
Damon walks away, leaving Elena looking disturbed. I notice Stefan still hasn't arrive. I give Damon a concerned look. He just nods at me. I guess he has it under control. All of a sudden Blaise starts screaming and crying. Damon speeds over to Blaise picking him up right away.
"Did you get your fingers caught, little buddy?" He asks rhetorically. He kisses Blaise's fingers. He continues to cry. Damon walks over to stand next to me. "He probably needs mommy's healing kisses. Right buddy? Mommy kisses are the best." He smirks at me. I kiss Blaise's fingers.
"There all better," I say as he quiets down.
"What did I tell you buddy? Mommy's kisses are magical." He says. Jenna comes downstairs.
"What happened?" Jenna asks concerned. She must have heard Blaise screaming. Jer is right behind her looking just as worried.
"Got his fingers caught in the cupboard door. Nothing a mommy kiss couldn't fix." Damon explains holding a calm Blaise.
Blaise put his head on Damon's shoulder tired from the crying jag. Damon is just rubbing his back, with his other arm under Blaise's butt. We all head into the dining room to eat dinner. After dinner is done and everything is cleaned up Damon and Jer are sitting in the family room playing a video game of some sort. Blaise is in Damon's lap hitting random buttons, probably thinking he's helping dad. I'm sitting on the arm of the couch just watching while sipping my juice. Damon taking sips from me here and there. He's even
"You said you never played this thing before and Blaise is hitting random buttons on you." Jer complains.
"I'm a fast learner. Quick reflexes." Damon explains him using his vampire reflexes, Jer not realizing he's using them.
When they started playing Damon told me that we will need to get one for his place for Jer and Ty to be able to use. Jeremy's phone goes off. He pauses the game and takes out his phone, but ignores the call, he tosses his phone aside and unpauses the game.
"Who are you dodging?" Damon asks curiously.
"This girl Anna. She can be, uh, persistent." Jer explains I give a small giggle.
"Is she hot?" Damon asks. I give him a shove playfully.
"Yeah, yeah, but she can be weird." Jeremy replies with.
"Hot trumps weird, trust me." Damon advices.
Jeremy smiles and laughs. "Is my sister hot, but weird?"
"No, your sister is hot, caring, loving, the same weird as I am.." Damon trails off. I smile and give him a kiss getting up and heading to the counter where Elena and Jenna are sitting.
"He is ridiculously hot!" Jenna whispers.
"Shh!" Elena sushes. I give her a glare. "He's an ass."
"No he's not." I say.
"He's a great dad to Blaise," Jenna points out.
"Don't encourage him. He already thinks that he's Blaise's dad." Elena replies rolling her eyes.
"Why can't he be? The only other person he has close to a father is his uncle Tyler. Damon has stepped up, with no complaints." Jenna sticks up for Damon seeming to get a little upset on Damon's behalf.
"Because Damon is bad news. He will hurt Blaise. Use Blaise to achieve his own goals. Then Blaise and Evie will both be left hurt." Elena continues.
"Enough Elena, your sister can decide herself. I have seen nothing but love and affection from Damon towards Blaise and Evie," Jenna says cutting her off. Elena continues going through things in a box while Jenna helps out.
"What are you doing with all this stuff?" Jenna asks.
"I thought there might be something about my birth parents." Elena tells her. Jenna meets my eyes, probably thinking about dad's journal that she gave me. I shake my head. I want to get the chance to read it before Elena forces me to give it up to her.
"Have you told Jeremy?" Jenna asks.
"I will. When the time is right." Elena says taking charge.
"I don't really get a choice I that." I say with a shrug.
Damon and I were planning on bringing him over to Damon's and telling him there shortly. That way Jeremy had a chance to recover before he had to act like he had no clue again. I don't like it that Elena keeps trying to hide things from little brother. Elena closes up the box. The doorbell rings.
"That's Stefan." Elena says. I follow her to answer it. Damon quickly gets up from the couch and walks over to the door. Jeremy watches him go, upset he paused the game.
"Dude!" Jer calls out.
Elena opens the front door, Damon right behind her. He has his arm thrown over my shoulders, Blaise in his other arm. Stefan looks at Damon, confused to why he's at the house, then to Elena, who shrugs.
"Well?" Damon asks breaking the silence. We all walk out onto the front porch to talk. "Who took it?" He asks after seeing Stefan's face.
"I don't know." Stefan replies. I study his face trying to see if I can tell if he is lying.
"You know what, it's that teacher. There's something really off about him." Damon says sceptically.
"No, he doesn't know anything. Somebody got to it right before me." Stefan says rather quickly.
"Who else knew it was there?" Damon asks getting agitated.
Stefan looks through the window at Jeremy, but doesn't say anything. Damon looks at Jeremy also and begins to walk back into the house.
"No. Damon, leave him out of it!" Elena calls.
"Why, what's the big deal?" Damon asks.
"Can I talk to him, Damon?" I ask calmly.
"Fine, princess. You get your shot." Damon agrees with a sigh. We head back in and I take the remote from Jer's hands.
"What's up?" Jer looks up and asks me.
"Come upstairs real quick." I say to him.
We both head up to my room. I put my finger to my lips and open the window to my room. We climb out on to the roof. The wind should cover the sound if we whisper.
"We don't come out here anymore," Jer comments.
"We need to whisper so Damon and Stefan don't hear." I reply whispering sitting down.
"Alright, what's up?" He whispers back sitting close to me.
"The journal, we think it tells us how to get in somewhere where the vampire who turned Stefan and Damon is. Did you tell anyone else about the journal besides Alaric?" I ask him.
"Just Anna." He says. "Is she a vampire?"
"We aren't sure. We know we have company in town though." I reply trying to keep complete transparency.
"Alright. How can I help get it back? I did pretend I didn't believe the journal at all." Jer tells me.
"Anna was trying to get together with you right?" He nods. "Maybe you meet her at the grill. Damon, Blaise, and I will go as well. Damon can keep an eye out. We can get you pie if you want." I offer him as a trade.
"I want to know what's going on and a slice of pie." Jer bargains.
"Deal," I agree we both spit in our hands and shake them with a laugh.
He text Anna to meet him at the grill. We head back downstairs.
"We are taking him to meet his hot but weird friend before he will tell me anything." I lie looking at Damon.
"Seriously?" Damon asks upset.
"We spit shook on it. He will hold his end." I tell him. Elena walks out of the room while Damon, Blaise, Jer, and I leave. We get into the car.
"Alright Jeremy spill," Damon orders when we get in the car. I glare at Damon.
"Jeremy already did. The hot weird friend is the only other person he told. I just didn't want Elena and Stefan to know that. Now back off my brother." I spit out at Damon pissed that he would treat little brother that way.
"Alright, I'm sorry. I didn't know you had been told." Damon says driving while putting his hands in the surrender motion. "What did you guys spit shake on then?"
"slice of pie and staying in the know," Jer says to Damon with a chuckle.
"If she's the person who has the journal I'll get you the whole damn pie," Damon offers now happy.
We arrive at the grill and Jer gets out. Damon does as well. I corner Damon against the car before he gets Blaise.
"You ever treat Jer like that again, you and I will have issues and I will take your ring. I will hunt you to the ends of the earth torturing you till you beg me to put you out of your misery." I threaten quietly.
"I won't Evie, I wouldn't hurt him. I know how protective you are of him and Blaise." Damon says. I give him a nod backing off. "That was hot," Damon smirks, I roll my eyes.
He gets Blaise and we walk into the grill and sit at the bar. I see Bonnie sitting with a guy probably on a date. She notices me and gives me a subtle nod. I give her a less subtle wave.
"Who are you waving to?" Damon asks.
"Bonnie, I think she's on a date," I tell him.
He orders me a slice of pie and orders one to Jer. Jer's slice of pie arrives just as Anna walks into the grill. He's leaning against the pool table.
"Elena was lying?" Damon asks.
"Yeah, we can always tell when the other is lying. That's why I made sure she wasn't watching when I stated the deal. The second part was technically true," I say smirking at him.
"My little devil." He comments.
Blaise is sitting in a highchair beside us. Damon is putting different flavours on his finger and letting Blaise taste it. Blaise is making faces at the different flavours. I just laugh at him. Damon looks where Jer and Anna are and I see a look of recognition cross his face.
"I think Jeremy might be getting that whole pie after all." Damon says ordering an apple caramel pie to go.
"Getting it already?" I ask confused.
"She was around in 1864, her mother was also a vampire back then. I'm pretty sure Katherine turned her as well." Damon explains looking distant. I put my hand on his back hopefully in comfort. He quickly looks at me and kisses my forehead. "I love you and Blaise. Don't ever doubt that. I burn the world down for you two."
"We both love you too, Damon. We will always be in your corner. We will always pick you first," I say to him. I'm not sure why I said all that but it felt right.
"I'm going to head to her motel. Stay that way you can drive Jer to my place." Damon says.
"Sure," I reply as he speeds off.
Blaise looking just a little lost now that his dad is gone. I just offer him some milk in a bottle not feeling like putting him on the boob right now. I'm hoping to wean him off my boob in a little bit anyway. Anna finally leaves. I grab Jer's pie and gesture to him to walk with me to the car. I have Blaise in one hand the pie in the other. I give the pie to Jer when we reach the car.
"What's this?" Jer asks confused.
"Damon said he would get you a whole pie. He upheld his end." I tell him. "He got our favourite."
"How did he know?" Jer asks surprised getting into the car after I put Blaise in his seat.
"I told him about all the times you and I would share a pie when things weren't going our own way." I say with a smile as I drive us to his place.
"Where are we headed?" Jer asks confused.
"Damon's. He wants us to head there. He will probably take me along wherever this journal is and he wants you to look after Blaise. He can also tell you what happened easier here." I reply as we pull in. We head into the house. I show Jer his room and a few other staples. I see Ty walking around. "Ty, I forgot you were coming."
"Yeah, is that still okay?" He asks concerned.
"Of course it's fine. Just please don't fight you two," I look between Jer and Ty.
"This is peaceful grounds. Got it." Ty agrees. Jer nods agreeing as well.
"Thank you," I thank. "Where you headed?"
"Damon left some dinner for me," Ty says as we all walk to the kitchen.
"Really? Damon left dinner for you?" Jer asks surprised.
"What does that mean?" Ty asks getting defensive.
"I just didn't think Damon would leave food for anyone but Blaise ans Evie," Jer explains.
"Naw, Damon's a great host. Stefan not so much. Damon seems to be totally cool with having me here though." Ty tells him as his food finishes heating. He pulls a bowl of spaghetti and meat sauce out of the microwave and starts to shovel it in his mouth and heads to his room.
I finish giving a tour to Jer and Damon bursts into the house.
"I know where the grimoire is and I have a feeling Stefan and Elena are already there." Damon says. I give Blaise to Jer and we both head out. Damon lifts me in his arms bridal style. He presses my head to his shoulder. "That way you don't get whip lash," he explains then start to run to the graveyard.
"What are we doing here?" I whisper not feeling comfortable talking at normal volume.
I feel like if I do I'll disturb the dead. Damon puts his finger to his lips showing me to be quiet. He then taps his finger on his ear. I guess he can hear someone. He speeds us over to a forested area. There Elena and Stefan are digging something up. I mouth that I was sorry to Damon when he looks at me. He gives me a hug. I hope he knows I wouldn't do that to him.
"Well, what do you know?" Damon greets stepping out of the cover of the trees, holding my hand. Elena and Stefan turn around startled. "This is an interesting turn of events."
"I can't let you bring her back. I'm sorry." Stefan says to Damon.
"So am I. For thinking for even a second that I could trust you." Damon replies.
"Oh. You're not capable of trust. The fact that you're here means that you read the journal and you were planning on doing this yourself." Stefan replies.
"Of course I was going to do it by myself, because the only one I can count on is me! You made sure of that many years ago, Stefan. But you..." Damon looks back at Elena. "You had me fooled." Elena looks ashamed at Damon's hurt face. "But you never fooled Evelyn. She knew you were lying. She clued me in. Evelyn always knew, Elena. She told me you two have never successfully lied to each other. You two always know when the other is lying. Should have remember that. I know she did." Damon looks at me proudly.
"So what are you going to do now? Because if you try and destroy that, I'll rip her heart out." Damon says after he turns back to Stefan
"You won't kill her." Stefan says. Damon nods, knowing Stefan is right. Instead, he vamp-speeds over to Elena and grabs her in a chokehold.
"I can do one better." Damon says. I just look at him shocked. Not sure what to do because I am pissed at Elena and Stefan, but also I still love my sister. Damon bites his wrist and forces Elena to drink his blood. Elena struggles. "Give me the book, Stefan, or I'm snapping her neck. And you will have a vampire girlfriend."
"Let her go first." Stefan tries to bargain. I snort knowing that, that won't work. Damon pulls his wrist away from Elena's mouth.
"The book!" Damon demands.
"I'm not going to give this to you until she is standing next to me." Stefan still tries.
"I'm pretty sure Damon calls the shots right now. You and Elena both ruined all the trust. You two think you're the good guys. But you're the villain in his story. And Stefan you play saint but you know you aren't." I finally say pissed off.
"The big problem is, I no longer trust that you'll give it back!" Damon backs me up.
"You just did the one thing that ensures that I will." Stefan continues to try to bargain. Damon, still keeping Elena in a chokehold, nods at Stefan. "Okay."
Stefan, eyes filled with terror, slowly places the book on the ground and reaches out for Elena. Damon places his face against Elena's hair, looking as if he might not let her go, but slowly he pulls his arm away from her. Elena slowly edges to the side of the grave, then quickly jumps over it and into Stefan's arms. Stefan wraps her in an embrace. Elena looks at Damon, terrified, and Stefan and her walk out of the woods together. Damon watches them go and picks up the grimoire. Damon looks down at Giuseppe's grave for a moment longer.
"Would you have actually done it?" I ask.
"No, I wouldn't want to deal with her as a vampire. I would much rather have you by my side forever." He admits. "It's his fault." Damon says as if trying to convince himself and not me.
"You and him have both made mistakes. Neither one of you are blameless. The big difference between Stefan and you is that Stefan likes to pretend he is perfect and throw your mistakes in your face. Your problem is you try to play the part of the super villain in the story because you are hurt about your brother throwing your mistakes in your face and pretending he makes none." I explain to him my observations. He just nods.
"We should head back. We need to tell Jeremy about what happened and deliver him home." Damon says.
He speeds us both back to his place. We head inside and I notice that Stefan and Elena aren't here. Jer is sitting on the couch with Blaise sleeping in the playpen beside him. Ty is there and they are just talking they both look to us.
"How did it go?" Jer asks us.
"Well, your sister and my brother betrayed me. But I did get it." Damon tells him holding up the grimoire.
"Do I want to ask?" Ty asks looking around.
"Probably not." I say sitting down on the couch beside him.
"I'll get a video game system and games tomorrow." Damon tells them. "Come on Jeremy. I should get you home." They both leave.
"Damon's getting a video game system?" Ty asks shocked. "This place looks like a museum. I'm surprised he'd be willing."
"Yeah, he wants it for you and Jer to be able to use."
"Like I said great host." Tyler says laughing.
"I see, I see." I admit.
Ty heads up to his room and I pull out my dad's journal flipping through it. I stumble across pages about experiments on Vampires. I stop to read them, curious. I see descriptions of torture going on for number 12144. My dad seems to have participated in them. It breaks my heart to read this. He references a patient by the number 21051. He writes descriptions of the vampires. There is even a drawing of them. I flip to the drawing of 21051. The journal falls from my hands in shock. I see a drawing of Damon staring back at me. I hear my name in the distance. I come back to Damon kneeling at my feet calling my name.
"Evie, are you alright?" Damon asks concerned.
"No," I say ready to cry.
"No? What happened? Who hurt you?" Damon asks.
"I hurt you." I say bursting into tears.
"No, you've never hurt me what are you talking about?" he asks confused trying to make everything alright.
"21051," I whisper. He freezes for a second.
"Where did you hear that?" He asks
"My dad's journal. It has a sketch of you and 12144." I tell him trying to stop my tears.
"You didn't know Evie. You had no idea. You would never hurt me like that." He takes me into his arms.
"There's one that was alive when my dad was alive. We need to help him." I say.
"See that's what makes you good. You want to save a vampire you have never met." Damon says. "Well, who was still there and where is there?"
"12144 is still there. Under Whitmore college." I tell him.
"That's impossible, Evie. I saw him die the night of my escape." He says shaking his head.
"You left him there?" I ask in a small voice.
"No, he was my best friend. I tried to get him out. Someone knocked over a candle and things were a lot more flammable back then. I tried so hard but I had to turn off my emotions if I wanted to survive." Damon explains almost in tears himself.
"Then don't we owe it to him to see if he is still there. My dad did experiments on him. I could probably get entrance to at least see by using my dads name." I tell him.
"I don't want you anywhere near them, Evie. They are so dangerous. If they find out about Blaise. You will become an experiment for breeding vampires." Damon tells me starting to freak out. He picks up Blaise and paces back and forth holding him, trying to calm him down.
"Damon, I won't say anything about Blaise. Even if I do my parents only know that I got drunk at a party and got pregnant. By a human. I will be safe. I need to do something." I insist.
"Fine, but anything that seems off you get out of there." Damon says.
"Alright, I promise. I can do it after we get Katherine back. I'll make the phone calls before though." I offer.
"Thank you." Damon says deflating dropping beside me on the couch still holding Blaise.
"Blaise calm you?"
"Yeah, having him close helps me calm down. It helps me remember that he's safe. Holding both of you would make it perfect though." Damon says pulling me into his side. I laugh.
