"Anything new?" Sasuke shook his head. "No new message either?"

"Nothing." Itachi fought the urge to slide against the wall and dive in despair. "There are a lot more surveillance here, we can't just go as quickly as the others. Hopefully they'll succeed and learn things too." Sasuke looked up at the night sky for a quick second. "We can still take one of the guards or soldiers and make them speak by force."

"We're running out of opti…" Itachi blinked.

"Nii-san?"

"The jashinist is Hidan, we agree on that?" Sasuke nodded. "He tends to kill aimlessly and in bloody ways." And if the memories of his past life served him right, he used any people he'd come across as sacrifices.

"Yeah, I know."

"If Samuru does have some mind control abilities, then the few who escaped it might be targets, and Hidan would use them as sacrifices for Jashin."

"Find the rebels, Hidan shouldn't be far," Sasuke finished for him.

In any dictatorship, there was resistance. And for any resistance, there were people looking to terminate it.

They searched the city looking for them, but nothing.

"Wait, there's a place we didn't go to."

"Really?"

"The old tree. Akane destroyed it, so what it was doing stopped but the rumors kept going from what Min told me."

"Show the way."

In other circumstances, Itachi would have thought the field of red amaranths beneath the moonlight was beautiful. Now though, he could only see Hidan in it, a dead man a few meters in front of him.

However, what was shocking was to see Akane and a man they had not seen up until now with Hidan.

"I am sure Samuru will be happy to hear how you are treating his bride to be."

"His fucking what!? As if…" Akane raised a brow.

"The Shinigami is Izanami, Jashin was one of her bellow deities, do you know what this means?"

"Like hell I'm gonna obey you bitch!" The man with Akane stepped forward, but she held him back, smiling at him.

"Kennichi, it's fine." Akane looked down at the dead man. "Keep your little sacrifices outside the city though, Samuru does not want such disturbances for our wedding on Sunday." Itachi's blood froze in his veins, yet at the same time was boiling.

Dread and fury were mixing in the pit of his stomach. But there was also a sliver of hope. He knew Akane by heart, he knew she would not give out this information for nothing, especially to someone she didn't like. If anything, she would have kept this piece of information to herself to keep Hidan from doing anything.

"The fuck you're getting married to him!"

"They are, so shut up," Kennichi replied coldly, almost mechanically. "Just find the rebels."

"Tch, fine." Akane and him left, leaving Hidan alone. "I'm gonna kill this bitch, she won't see it coming…" When Hidan turned around, he found Itachi's red sharingans. He went through his memories.

He had contacted Shikamaru before leaving the continent, who told him that nothing had changed in the Nara Forest, but that he'd check himself and not take his words as the truth knowing the situation. He saw Hidan waking up from his slumber and Samuru above him, telling him it was lucky his bond with Jashin had not been broken in death as it was what allowed him to bring him back. He put the pieces of his blown-up body back together, recreating his tongue as well before introducing himself as Samuru, the hitogami of Izanagi, the god of creation. He told him he needed his help and his service to subdue people to his power and that he needed to go meet the Hokage soon.

So, Hidan was brought back shortly before Samuru met up with him.

Hidan left for the Eastern Continent once Samuru went to the Land of Water and met other hitogamis of deities his level. They explained to him how hitogamis were there.

There was a stone that contained Natural Energy directly from the deity when they were still walking this earth. Their powers were contained in a sphere that was keeping it under control, often in a stone tablet in the most important shrine the deity had. A hitogami was formed when they had this stone and swallowed it. At least, for them as for the five higher ones the stones' powers were so big that they would be absorbed by anyone close by who could handle it. Except for Izanami, whose stone was lost centuries ago.

Itachi stopped his genjutsu, Hidan falling to the ground.

"Nii-san?"

"I'm going to infiltrate the place they're hiding."

"How about you tell me what you've learned first?" He led them to the lair Taiga used years ago.

Sasuke did not like the place at all, but they should be safe.

"The man with Akane, Samuru and her are all dressed a particular way, they're hitomagis of more important kamis." Itachi explained briefly what he had just learned to his brother.

"So this guy and Samuru both have a stone…somewhere, that we need to find so we cut off the bond between them and their deities." Itachi nodded. "And you decided to infiltrate the place and take care of Samuru, obviously."

"Because you'd be a better choice?"

"Between you and I, I was trained in infiltration and Akane and I could coordinate a plan from a distance. So yes, I think I'd be a better choice." Itachi glared coldly at him. "But you won't change your mind."

"There are two of them, you know the place better, you're a better choice to look around."

"Can you…just wait until tomorrow? To be sure of where you're going." Itachi did not want to, but he also saw reason in Sasuke's words, so he nodded wordlessly. "You take care of Samuru, I take care of the other one and…" There was a gasp.

Both brothers looked at the source and threw a kunai there. A teenage boy fell from behind a dry and crumbling root, terrified.

"Please excuse our eavesdropping." A woman, maybe around Itachi's age, came out from there as well. "We use this place as a hideout."

"You are the resistance movement," Sasuke figured out, Itachi walking toward them.

"I wouldn't call ourselves much of a movement, but I guess," she said tiredly. "My name is Jin Kyong, but you can call me Jin."

"My name is Itachi, and this is my brother Sasuke. Jin-san, could you enlighten us about what you have been doing?"

"Not much. Every important person started to…be weird, and act weird, and when people tried to say something, they would just…vanish, only for new soldiers to appear."

"Brainwashed into soldiers?" Sasuke inquired with a frown. Jin nodded weakly, her smooth and dark long hair briefly hiding her dark brown eyes.

"We think so. We started to hide here last week when half of us were taken again. There has not been a new batch of soldiers yet though, so we were…trying to find a way to get in when Jashin came after us and followed us here." She looked up at Itachi, taking his hands in hers, her eyes staring deeply into his. "You said you were going to infiltrate the place; would you help us?"

"Do you know where it is?" She nodded. "Then yes." She hugged him around the neck, her face in the crook of his neck.

Sasuke almost raised a brow at this. If he didn't know better, he would almost think this woman was trying to flirt with his brother or trying to use her charms to get what she wanted from him.

Point was, Itachi broke the embrace as soon as she initiated it, a blank face on. It was not as if Sasuke thought it would do anything to his brother. It was not as if he ever wondered about his brother's…tastes, he was sure he was basically just attracted to Akane, as in really, truly attracted and that it had always been the case. They did not talk about his relationship with Izumi, but he was a drastically different boyfriend to Akane.

He was in love, it changed things.

Only Sasuke and Itachi remained in the city. It was hard to slip out of Samuru's radar, to investigate things or leave messages Sasuke would find, but I'd manage. However, now the wedding date was decided, Kennichi would tag along, that I wanted it or not.

He was not talkative but did not seem to agree with Samuru. He was just…there. There was a feeling, deep in my guts, that wanted to care for him.

It was probably Izanami toward Susanoo.

He was the one to tell me about the kami stones. He had his around his neck, hidden beneath his clothes.

I had the displeasure to see Hidan as well, not as dead as I thought he was. He even got his tongue back, which was very annoying.

I went to the palace, someone taking me to Samuru immediately. He was in one of the rooms beneath the palace. When I entered the room, I frowned. He was facing several men, all of them tied up and sitting on the floor.

"Ha, there you are!" he said gleefully to me.

"What's going on?"

"I wanted to share with you how I made my army." Much like the Claw was purple energy around my left arm, curse marks in it, his right arm was covered in golden Natural Energy, curse marks in it as well.

To my horror, he dived the tip of his fingers in one of the men's head. A muffled scream came out of the man's lips before it was completely silent.

"What have you done to him?"

"Izanagi is Creation, I rewrote his mind so that he follows my smallest order without questioning it."

"…and what about makes him…him?" He pursed his lips.

"Don't give so much attention to details my love. What matters is that he's loyal." He cupped my face, squishing my cheeks. "Loyalty is everything, get this stuck in that pretty head of yours." I nodded as I could, my eyes not leaving his. He smiled. "Good, you're so obedient now." He pressed his lips against mine.

I refrained myself from hitting him and let him do it instead.

At first, I rejected him. However, this…hypnosis ability of his, almost as if he just had to look at you to make you do what he wanted of you, was annoying. He used, slapped me and kissed me by force, pushing his tongue down my throat and I couldn't do anything about it.

I could only think of Itachi and how…furious he'd be. He had to be when I went to the compound and they were all there, he had seen Samuru kiss me and me not pushing him away.

The best way to get rid of him was to play the submissive bride to be for now. His kami stone was different, like mine. I had no idea where Izanami's was, but Tensui had to have gotten his hands on it to make this pact, bounding her to my clan.

If I wanted to break this bound like she asked me to, I'd need to find it and destroy it.

As for Samuru, his was…he ingested it. Apparently, Izanagi deemed he worthy, the stone turned to liquid, and he drank it. However, as long as Amaterasu's, Susanoo's and Tsukuyomi's kami stones were all intact, I couldn't get it out of him. The three children protected the father, and the mother too.

Destroy theirs, then get rid of Samuru and it would allow me to destroy my own kami stone as well when the day would come.

However, I didn't manage to convey all of this yet, I needed to…

Huh? There was an active chakra source around?

The good thing with Samuru was that he was not a shinobi. Sure, his powers would beat…many shinobis, or just deprive them from the will to fight him. However, it meant he couldn't detect chakra or anything like that.

It was the main reason they didn't meet many complications regarding gathering intel in the city. I trained Sasuke in infiltration, he knew the seals I used during those missions, he could lead this.

Anyway, I was pretty sure there was a chakra nearby, but it was very well hidden, I couldn't pinpoint who it was.

Samuru broke the kiss, the disgusting feeling of his tongue lingering in my mouth.

"We are going to have an incredible wedding night." He looked at the men, his hands in his back. "If you want to take a closer look at some of them, you're free to do so. I have other business to attend to." He left.

I looked up toward the air conduct and spotted a flash of red. I gulped and left the room. I knew where they were leading to outside.

However, I never reached the end of the conducts because Kennichi appeared out of nowhere, his blank face unmoving.

"I didn't see you there."

"What are you doing?"

"Just…I saw Samuru and then…wanted some fresh air. It's…quite damp below the palace, you know?" He wouldn't stop staring.

I spotted the red of the Sharingan in the distance.

"What are you doing here?"

"Making sure you're protected."

"Well, I can defend myself just fi…" He narrowed his red eyes ever so slightly. "Thank you, for your concern." He nodded firmly. "Let's…walk, shall we?" He nodded once more, and I walked toward where I had seen the Sharingan. I tried to make conversation, but his answers were short to non-existent.

However, as we reached the place I wanted to go to at first, I couldn't keep myself to look around. Eventually, I met the red of the Sharingan again. I heard Kennichi asking me something almost as a background noise as I felt myself falling.

I was quickly in another setting that was similar to my place in Konoha, except that the color spectrum was reversed. I was in white; my skin was black and the sky outside was red.

"Akane." I looked up.

"Itachi?" He nodded and I showed our surrounding. "Was the Tsukuyomi necessary?"

"I control time here, so we can talk freely. Well, until you can't handle it anymore."

"I improved my resistance," I reminded him weakly, to which he smirked. "Look, no matter how much I'd love to talk, and I'm sure you'd love to scold me for being reckless…" From the glint in his eyes, he wanted to. "We need to get straight to business. Amaterasu's, Tsukuyomi's and Susanoo's kami stones must be destroyed before attacking Samuru. He swallowed his, it's untouchable as long as the others exist. Kennichi…he keeps Susanoo's stone around his neck, you'd need to get him away from me and…deal with the stone. Preferably, this needs to be done before Sunday, where I'm getting married, again. Let me tell you, he does not care about consent."

"Did he force himself on you?" I pursed my lips.

"When he first kissed me, I pushed him away and then…he has this weird hypnotic power, my body responded but my mind was…throwing up hard." He nodded and looked on the side. "I'm not…I'm not enjoying it or…"

"I know. It doesn't mean I don't want to torture him though." He looked back at me. "Sasuke is going to deal with this Kennichi. The others are in the Land of Onis and the Land of Wisdom to find the kami stones. In any way, I'll get you out of there before Sunday, no matter what." I smiled faintly at him, and he walked over to me. He cupped my face in his hands and I put my hands on his wrists. "I'll stay around, so just wait for a few more days. We'll go home quickly." I kissed him on the lips.

It was strange, there was no warmth or anything. I…really didn't like it. Maybe those were criteria Itachi had to take into account too, but right now, communicating was the most important, not kissing.

"There is a shrine on the east side of the city, in the mountain chain. It's Izanagi's shrine, there's a secret passageway underneath it that goes to a hidden spot in the mountains, where there is another shrine. It's where the wedding is supposed to happen. I think you can reach it by the air, but not the shrine it's…it reacts to hitogamis only."

"Alright." I took a deep breath. "I should go now." I nodded weakly and he poked my forehead with a small frown. "Please be careful."

"Yes." He smiled at me, and I was back next to Kennichi.

"Is everything alright?" I had my hand on my forehead.

"Yes…yes, it's fine. I am tired thought, could we go back?" He nodded.

"They keep coming back!" Naruto yelled. "And Kurama is useless!"

"Maybe we need to break this thing!" Haku replied, on the roof of the shrine.

"What if we shouldn't break it!?"

"I know as much as you Naruto!"

"That's…" A chain flew in front of him, breaking the sphere in a million pieces. Then, it was wrapped around the yellow stone in it and taken away. "Hey wait up!" He jumped on the ground, realizing whatever these creatures were, they were gone. Haku silently jumped down next to him and pointed his finger in front of them. "What…" He blinked. "Old man!?" Masashi looked up from the stone he had in his hand.

"It's Masashi, brat."

"You've decided to help us?"

"If you've destroyed this black being, then I guess I am in your debt."

"So…you're helping us." Naruto caught the kami stone.

"You can't destroy it yet."

"You know what this is?"

"I've been on this continent for decades, I learned things. Follow me."

"We're going back to the city?" Naruto asked him, catching up to him with Haku.

"Yes, and quickly. Now this is out of the shrine, it's only a question of time until the man you are after realizes it. Once this, Tsukuyomi's and Susanoo's kami stones are destroyed, you can destroy his but not before."

"We should hurry then."

"We are getting married tomorrow!" I blinked in shock.

"What? It's three days before the…"

"I know, but there was a change of plans. It's tomorrow." Samuru left the room like he came in it.

It was odd to say the least.

I had to find Itachi and tell him though. I left the palace and found a hidden spot in a dark alley. There I summoned Uma, wrote a quick message, and teleported him to Sasuke.

"Well well well…" I widened my eyes and stood up, knowing he was right behind me. "I really thought you'd be on my side, yet you leave me again." I turned around slowly, Samuru shaking his head at me. "I guess I will have to deal with these insects myself then."

"Don…"

"Shhhh…" he said, pressing his finger on my mouth. "You don't get a word in this." My eyelids started to be heavier and heavier until I fell forward.

Shit.

Of course, when I regained consciousness, I was locked up. I was underground in a cell, said cell barely having any light in it. I tried to stand up, only to realize I was tied up at my ankles, and that my wrists were tied to them. There was a gag on my mouth and Samuru must have had something hidden up his sleeves because I couldn't use my chakra, nor the Claw.

I was powerless.

"Nii-san…"

"You go destroy that stone, I'm going to make Hidan talk," Itachi replied, already walking away.

Tomorrow?

This guy thought he would marry his Akane tomorrow? Over his dead body.

He found Hidan after a few hours, the latter having sacrificed a few people for Jashin. He still refused to admit Jashin was real knowing how…Hidan practiced his religion.

It was not hard to make him talk. He had barely started to spit insults at him that he was in a genjutsu, saying everything he knew. He was supposed to find whoever it was infiltrated in the city. Akane had been apprehended and locked up. Samuru was planning to marry her during the night.

The priority was to get her out of this place now.

Shortly after midnight, Itachi found himself in the mountains overviewing the shrine and the green space in front of it. He didn't have to wait long for Samuru to appear, dragging a gagged Akane behind him. The Uchiha quietly went to the door they came through and used his sharingan to put the few guards there to sleep.

It was easy to use shurikenjutsu to split them up, and he hurried to get Akane away from him.

"Huh? Aren't you the Hokage?" Samuru asked him, surprised. Itachi didn't spare him a look, holding Akane's shoulders instead. She seemed to be in a daze of some sort, so he removed the gag himself. The corners of her mouth were red from the burn of the rope. "Don't tell me you're the boyfriend!" Itachi glanced at him coldly above his shoulder. "Oh yeah, you're the boyfriend."

Itachi stepped on the side, only for a plant to grow taller than himself. He turned toward Samuru, who had golden energy around his right arm, the hand on the ground. His features were now cold and serious.

"I'm not going to let you take her away from me."

"She's not yours."

"Izanami is mine!"

"Her name is Akane, she is not Izanami," Itachi corrected him.

"Hmph, who she was born as is not as important as her job as an hitogami." Itachi narrowed his eyes. "Now I'll…" Itachi trapped him in a genjutsu.

He took this opportunity to pick Akane up and left quickly, taking the same route he had used to get there. He didn't stop moving and went to the amaranth field on the outskirts of the city. There, he knelt and put Akane down, who sat there without a word. He cupped her face and made her look up.

Her eyes were blank. Itachi repressed a sigh and used his sharingan on her, diving in her mind with Tsukuyomi. He was taken back at how…it seemed like wild plants had taken all of the space there. He walked through them.

Itachi blinked when he saw a purple hand coming through the plants in front of him and clasped onto them. Everything was black, white and red apart from the plants, that were a bright green, and the Claw. He quickly made his way to it and sunk his arm in the plant, trying to find Akane's right arm. Once this was done, he pulled her out of it.

She was unconscious, yet the Claw would not disappear. Itachi looked up and set the plants on fire with Amaterasu. He was careful not to damage Akane's mind though.

As the plants slowly started to turn to ash, Akane mumbled something and opened her eyes.

"What?" Itachi ceased the Tsukuyomi, and he was back in the flower field, the clear sky letting the moon light shine upon them.

Akane rubbed her wrists. They had red marks around them.

"Itachi? What happened?"

"I ruined your wedding, again." She stood up, the Uchiha imitating her.

"Where's Samuru?"

"I put him in a genjutsu." She pursed her lips.

"It won't hold him back for long." She pointed at her head. "You've seen what he did there."

"Is that his power?"

"He…rewrites someone's mind in a way. His gift is creation, and it overpowers what is already there. It's almost as if he was…recreating minds."

"I see." She tensed and he turned around. Samuru was there, rubbing the back of his head.

"Now, that was not appreciated, Hokage-sama. I'm going to ask you once, just once, to leave this place and go back to your continent and leave us alone." Instinctively, he stepped in front of Akane. "I'll take this as a 'no' then."

"Itachi, I can't…really fight right now, I don't know if it's drugs or something else but…"

"I don't want you to be involved in this fight." She blinked as he frowned at Samuru, the Sharingan spinning lazily in his eyes. "I'm dealing with him on my own."

"But…" Seeing the unwavering determination in his eyes, she gulped. "Alright."

Samuru had made it personal the moment he put his eyes on Akane and he would not let it go without a fight.
