"Three?"
Leon Kozlov, also known as Three of Seven, looked up from his drink and smiled. "Evening, Kendra."
"What do you know about defending against Telepathic attacks? You were Borg, so I figured you might know somethin'."
"You came to the right ex-drone… but what I want to know is, are you alright?"
"I am now," Kendra answered. "You should know I didn't have any intention of… well…"
"I figured… hmmm, telepathic defense. You could do what the Vulcans do."
"I'm not built for that… I was thinking I might need… I don't know… an implant that… projects a telepathic forcefield, for lack of a better term… but cybernetics isn't my bailiwick."
"They exist," Three replied. "Talk to Heather."
"I will, but what gets me is how there's not some kinda dampening field in the brig! You'd think…"
"There is… but his telepathy is too damn strong. Cut right through it, although it did take a lot. He was damn near asleep after that Ferengi ship attacked us."
Kendra narrowed her eyes. "To Heather it is, then."
"Kendra?"
"Speak of the devil!"
"You're sure you're alright?"
"Didn't wanna die then, and I don't wanna die now. I don't need to kill myself, I need to kill the telepathic foolery. Don't we have an implant for that?"
"We… we do. Just not here. We need to pick one up."
"I… I think I can manage until then. Maybe we can hamper that Betazoid's telepathy? Drug his food, something? Who is this guy and why's he targeting me?"
"Is the name Tollan Vel familiar?" Three asked
Kendra's skin paled as she nodded. "We used to date," she whispered, her breath catching in her throat. "I broke up with him after… after he cheated on me… and now that he's… Oh my God…"
"Oh, honey…". Heather cooed.
Kendra took a deep breath. "Might as well get it done," she muttered. "Oh! Hey, Alex."
Alex, who had just walked in, smiled. "Are you okay?"
"Better… but I know who that Betazoid is. He's… he's my ex. I broke up with him after he cheated."
"So what, this is his revenge, then?"
"I think so," Kendra replied. "I'm gonna try and get an implant that'll shut him up. He's taken to influencing my dreams. I haven't slept well these past few nights."
"Kendra, honey, you need to rest." Heather squeezed Kendra's hand. "Take a few days off. Doctor's orders."
"Alex, if you could please come with me… I have something I need to talk about."
They left, and Kendra smiled. "I… I wanna thank you for saving me… I… I didn't want…". She let out a weak groan, starting to fall.
"Kendra!" Alex said softly as he caught her.
"I'm… I'm sorry… just… just so tired…"
"Shhh… Kendra," he whispered, holding her close as he carried her to her quarters.
When they got there, Kendra managed to get the door to open, groaning again.
Alex gently placed Kendra on her bed, covering her up.
Kendra hummed softly. "Stay… with… me?" She murmured.
Alex gently held Kendra's hand as she smiled. "Of course I will."
"Alex… I think…". Her eyes began to close. "I'm… fall…". She let out a weak sigh and went limp, falling asleep.
