Episode 2: A Bad Feeling
ll
ll
Like a bad comedy, all the girls and Mamoru showed up at the same time 30 minutes later, nearly running to the waiting area, nervous and confused.
ll
ll
ll
Upon meeting up with Usagi, it was Minako who grabbed Usagi's wrists and gave her a nervous and uncomfortable look.
ll
ll
(Mamoru) We came as soon as we could. Just what happened out there at the shop?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah... I don't know know how to feel right now. She looks and sounds exactly like me! But she's different somehow... She's all beaten up and her Sailor Uniform was damaged.
ll
ll
She was barely able to transform before she just, collapsed right in front of me. I wasn't sure if she was... actually me or not so when she did that to prove it... I don't know.
ll
ll
(Ami) So she really did transform into Sailor Moon? I don't even know how that's possible. I mean, there are things like wormholes and other impossible theories, but if that really is another Usagi Tsukino, that would mean she came from another Universe, another reality where Usagi Tsukino exists as the reincarnation of Sailor Moon on the planet Earth.
ll
ll
(Rei) Ami, I know you're just eager to figure out exactly what this is, but for now, put the theories and stuff on hold. We need to figure out what to do with her. We can't just look the other way and leaver her on the street.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I agree. I'll see if she can stay with me and my family. But until we can figure out her current situation, we'll have to be careful.
ll
(Rei) Usagi. Your parents will have heart attacks if they see literally TWO of you in front of them. You two look identical, they wouldn't believe you for a second if you said she was a "friend" or "classmate". She can stay with me and Grandpa Hino for now, I don't think he'll be able to tell the difference between any blonde and Usagi.
ll
ll
(Makoto) Yeah, but there's just one thing I keep thinking about. If she's here, then where are the others from her reality?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Let's ask that when the time is right.
ll
ll
ll
As they finished talking, a doctor came to Usagi and tapped her shoulder.
ll
ll
(Doctor) Hello, Ms. Tsukino? The patient is stable and she is awake. I believe it would be okay for you to visit her for a brief time, but only you. I feel that presence of this many people may put too much stress on the patient.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Thank you doctor. We understand, may I go speak to her?
ll
ll
(Doctor) Yes, please, follow me.
ll
Usagi followed the doctor nervously, giving her friends one last nervous look before disappearing into the hallway with the doctor, everyone feeling more nervous as they waited for her return.
ll
ll
ll
ll
At the room, the doctor opened the door and announced to the girl that she had a visitor.
ll
ll
Usagi entered and the doctor closed the door.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Oh, it's you again. I really didn't know how I ended up here in the first place. But, I guess I know now.
ll
The other Usagi tried to smile, but she didn't have the will or the want to do so.
ll
ll
(Usagi) So... we really are the same person.
ll
(Usagi?) That's correct.
ll
ll
(Usagi) But... How is this possible? Where did you come from? How did you even get here?
ll
ll
A sense of dread washed over Usagi as the other Usagi dryly smiled as she looked outside at the dark clouds that covered the sky.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Well, you can blame that on my friends... They were trying to save me from the fighting, but Rei got hit from behind at the last second as the portal opened, and... now I'm here.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Fighting? You guys were fighting an enemy?
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Yup. This one was really something. They had troops hiding in plain sight, ready to jump out and attack people or, us if we were present.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) At first, they were tough, but after figuring them out, we bust right through their forces, and things were looking good. We were winning.
ll
ll
(Usagi) So what happened.
ll
ll
The other Usagi stopped smiling, she stared right at Usagi with her eyes holding tears.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) They set a trap and we fell for it. Then, they had us surrounded with dozens of troops, right as we were ready to drop.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi?) We tried to fight them, but the others stopped as things were looking worse and worse for us. They surrounded me, trapped me in a circle and were trying to send me away to another part of Tokyo so I would be able to get rest and take them on again at another time.
ll
(Usagi) Wait, they stayed behind? I though you would all have to use your powers to teleport together? Why would they only do it for you?
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Beats me. In the end, as they were finishing the chant, one of them came from behind Rei and hit on the back of the head, causing her to be knocked out, possibly die, from the blood on the enemy's weapon. But after that? BOOM, I was here.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I see... I'm so sorry for your loss.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Thanks. It's gonna be hard, but I think I'll be okay. But what is this place? I mean, what about this world is different from mine?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well... here, we aren't needed anymore as the Sailor Guardians anymore, so we went on with our lives. But, that was only after we were nearly annihilated by one of the galaxy's first Sailor Guardians, Sailor Galactica.
ll
(Usagi?) Wait! Does that mean... everyone here is alive? Even Mamo?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yes. Would you like to see them?
ll
ll
(Usagi) OF COURSE I WOULD! It feels like I haven't seen their faces in years.
ll
ll
(Usagi) I see. Well, when you get discharged, we'll hold a party for you to welcome you here, okay?
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi?) That sounds wonderful... Usagi.
ll
ll
ll
ll
After a few days of tests and procedures, Usagi(?) was released from the hospital.
ll
ll
As the other Usagi walked out of the hospital doors, wearing fresh clothes that .Usagi and the others had bought for her. The other Usagi put her hood on, trying to conceal her golden blonde hair nervously. Usagi was leaning on her car, waving at the girl from afar, happy to see her looking better already.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Wait, so you drive? I didn't think it would even be possible to get my license...
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, with Haruka's help, we were able to understand the basics and even learn a few things on our own!
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Um... Like what, exactly?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Want me to show you?
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Maybe another time.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Okay... Suit yourself.
ll
ll
ll
The two drove for a while before coming to a familiar looking cafe.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Wait, isn't this-!
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, me and the others thought we should do this in a place you were also familiar with.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Yeah! The one in my world closed a few months ago! Is Matoki and his sister still here!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Sure they are! Come on.
ll
ll
The two parked in a small lot nearby and walked into the cafe.
ll
The other Usagi looked around, it was like she was looking at a time capsule. She didn't want to tell Usagi, but the reason the one in her world "closed" was because Motoki and Unazuki Furuhara were killed in an incident with foot soldiers from the enemy to rile up the Sailor Guardian into falling for their trap.
ll
ll
When the sweet innocent faces of the brother and sister greeted them, the other Usagi shed a small, tear, completely unnoticed by the others.
ll
ll
ll
ll
Motoki was about to go back to work after greeting Usagi, but immediately looked back when he felt Usagi grinning.
ll
ll
(Motoki) Oh, hey Usagi. Eh-
ll
(Motoki) Usagi. What did you do? You have that look like you're about to show me something impossible again.
ll
ll
(Unazuki) Oh come on, there's no way she would- Oh crap, where are my manners! Who's your friend?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh, shes a new friend of mine.
ll
Usagi leaned into the other Usagi's ear.
ll
(Usagi) You can introduce yourself honestly to them if you want. They know about our identities and sometimes, I like to show them things that are basically impossible so the two of us won't be anything new for them.
ll
ll
Usagi leaned out and flashed the other Usagi a smile.
ll
ll
The other Usagi took off her hood and greet the two with a slight bow.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Hello, I am Usagi Tsukino. I'm from another world, separate from yours.
ll
ll
The two stared blankly at the twin Usagi's
ll
ll
ll
(Motoki) Wow... I'm so surprised! She has better manners than our own Usagi!
ll
ll
(Unazuki) I know! She's so polite!
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Wait. You're not freaked out or confused?
ll
ll
(Motoki) No, not really. The one next to you has surprised us with so many dumb things to scare us that we aren't even phased in the slightest.
ll
ll
(Unazuki) Yeah, after a while, we just accepted that Usagi would just do the impossible to get a reaction out of us and we just stopped questioning the limits of what she could do.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) I...see... (I mean, I'm relieved that they're so calm about this, but what has she shown them that was so scary!?)
ll
ll
ll
She felt a hand grab her own.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Come on. The girls and Mamo are over here.
ll
ll
She looked. It was like a living photograph. There they were. Ami Mizuno, Rei Hino, Makoto Kino, Minako Aino and Mamoru Chiba. All of them in the corner booth that they occupied during their middle school and high school days.
ll
ll
She told herself not to cry and walked towards them. They all greeted her, each one slightly shocked in their own way, even Mamoru was visibly confused by seeing two of the same person.
ll
ll
After sat down and ordered drinks, they talked for a bit, the topic being about their jobs, and then it tumbled into how Usagi was financially irresponsible for buying a car for the purpose of making it barely street legal with aftermarket parts.
ll
ll
The talking went on for a few hours. The other Usagi talked a few times, but really just watched the others. It was enough just to watch them for her. The one's from her world were only able to focus on their Sailor Guardian duties, that a conversation like this, talking about their jobs and finances was something completely foreign to her. But it was nice. Each one of them looked content with their lives, and Mamoru was looking at Usagi with a loving gaze. She wished that her Mamoru had looked at her like this. But after the visions from the future had drifted him away from her, just to find out that it was just a test? She could never look at him the same again. But even when they were in a relationship, Mamoru never looked at her like this. He always had something on his mind that he would never tell her. Then after they broke up after a huge fight they had, he barely even looked at her.
ll
ll
She looked at this world's Usagi. She was sooo lucky. She had it all! She had a life after the Sailor Guardians, her friends were still her friends, Mamoru still loved her... It was everything she had ever wanted.
ll
ll
ll
Her train of thought was interrupted when someone to her left tapped her shoulder.
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) Hey Usagi, we need to discuss something with you.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Oh! I'm sorry, what were you saying?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Since we're identical, you can't stay with me since my parents will easily know that something is up. So you'll stay with Rei at the Shrine. She has an extra room that you can stay in so you can have some privacy. Is that okay for now?
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Oh, that's so kind of you Rei! Thank you!
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah, I'll drive you guys there.
ll
ll
(Rei) Oh crap.
ll
ll
(Makoto) Oh you better get ready Rei. With the way Usagi drives, you better get a damn helmet!
ll
ll
(Minako) Ouch! I remember the last time I got a ride from her. The studio asked if I had been the victim of a failed abduction!
ll
ll
(Ami) I will pray for you Rei and Usagi, hopefully you get there without injury.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Uhhhhh. What the heck are they talking about?
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Ooh, they're just drama queens because I drive a little faster than the speed limit.
ll
ll
(Rei) Oh bullshit! You drive like you're racing in one of those anime on television! It's like you're trying to drive as dangerously as possible.
ll
ll
(Usagi) FIIIINE! If it makes you feel any better, I'll drave safely because Usagi's in the car with us. Okay?
ll
ll
(Rei) You better!
ll
ll
ll
The girls dispersed. Ami went one way, Makoto went another and finally Minako also went a different way.
ll
ll
The three got into the car and strapped their seatbelts on, Rei making hers extra tight.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi started the car and locked the doors before flashing Rei a mischievous grin.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Heh heh heh. I was KIDDING!
ll
ll
Usagi put the car in first and revved the engine loudly, a high whistling sound hinting at an aftermarket turbo.
ll
ll
Rei went from nervous to horrified, pleading with Usagi to be careful.
ll
ll
(Rei) Usagi! Usagi, PLEASE, just drive like a normal person, I really just want to go home, I don't care how long it takes. Just PLEASE! DRIVE SLOW!
ll
ll
(Usagi) Okay Rei, I'll drive slowly.
ll
ll
The car launched out of the lot, flying onto the street.
ll
ll
Second gear, Third gear.
ll
Usagi was going about 55 on a city street, flying by buildings as the engine revved into the upper RPM's before going back down when Usagi shifted up into another gear.
ll
ll
After ten seconds, they fly past Makoto, who is just walking down the street and looks back after hearing a familiar sound.
ll
ll
The tires screech as Usagi turns onto a freeway, going along other cars. Rei, after screaming many colorful insults at Usagi is finally calming down, repeating to herself to never accept a ride from Usagi again.
ll
After the freeway, Usagi drives much slower. She drives normally, stopping at red lights, driving the speed limit. But Rei is still holding onto her seatbelt, waiting for Usagi to put her life in danger again.
ll
ll
It's when they see the Shrine in the near distance that Rei finally begins to relax.
ll
ll
Usagi drops the two of them off and says farewell for the day before she rolls up her window and guns the car back down the empty street, the sound of her car disappearing after only 20 seconds. The two girls then walk up the long stairs that lead up to the shrine.
ll
ll
ll
The two enter the Shrine. Rei goes the Grandpa Hino explaining that the girl she brought is there to help out the Shrine and will be using the guest room for now.
ll
Grandpa Hino is happy to hear the news and looks forward to meeting the girl soon.
ll
ll
ll
After entering the main unit, Rei leads the other Usagi to the guest room, a furnished room that is free of dust, as if someone was living in there.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Um.. Rei?
ll
ll
(Rei) Yes?
ll
(Usagi?) Is someone already living in this room? There's no dust or anything.
ll
ll
(Rei) Well, one of the big things I do at the Shrine is maintenance. If I neglected one room out of laziness, then what kind of Shrine Maiden would I be, right?
ll
ll
(Usagi?) I see. And once again, I can't tell you how much I appreciate this.
ll
ll
(Rei) Of course. You're one of us now. We're glad to help you out.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Huh? What does that mean?
ll
ll
(Rei) Well... Usagi told us about how you transformed into a Sailor Guardian. That means you are one of the only people in the world that understands us. Understands everything we've been through, all the battles we've fought, the secrets we keep... You are a part of a group that knows things that most do wouldn't even be able to understand.
ll
ll
ll
Keeping her tears at bay once again, the other Usagi thanked Rei once again before Rei went to go do her evening rituals.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) She has... everything I've ever dreamed of. Mamo, the girls, a life? I could only dream of these things once before! But, here I am, a life without Sailor Moon! But... there's also another me here that is apart of their lives as well.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) If she's here, then they'll only look at me like the extra. So if something "tragic" were to happen where she was no more... Then I could be this world's Usagi and have everything I've ever wanted!
ll
ll
She smiled a somewhat sinister smile before snapping out of her thought.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Wait a second!? I can't do that! She is their Usagi because she's from here, if they were to lose her, then I wouldn't be a replacement. But... She her death would be pretty convenient...
ll
ll
She thought it over for the rest of the night, pondering the pros and cons, weighing the costs and benefits until late into the night.
ll
ll
After a few hours, she reached her conclusion and went to sleep.
ll
ll
The next morning, Rei noticed a difference in the other Usagi. She was more upbeat and there was a brightness in her eyes that equaled Usagi's. Rei was happy for the girl, finding a way to keep living after losing everything she ever knew. But frankly, it scared Rei a little. It was like she was trying to copy what she saw in the Usagi from this world.
ll
ll
Keeping the notice in mind, Rei put her to work at the Shrine.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi?) You'll let me work here, at the Shrine!? Oh Rei, I don't know what to say!
ll
ll
(Rei) Um, could you tone it down a little? It's 6 in the morning. And it's something I can do to help you until you're able to support yourself. It's not fair to you that you were thrown from your own world into this one.
ll
ll
The other Usagi wore her shrine uniform, now doing her hair before the day began. It reminded Rei of when the girls came over to help her out with selling the charms to people. Good times...
ll
ll
It still freaked Rei out. How would they be able to tell one from the other if they were to be so similar? I mean sure, only one could drive, albeit recklessly. But what if they needed to differentiate them, just in case something happened, like the other Usagi trying to switch them up and force herself into the original Usagi's role?
ll
ll
ll
Rei tried for a few days to ignore the nagging sense of dread the seemed to loom over her. It was something that evaded her every time she tried to find and understand what this sense meant.
ll
ll
ll
She tried reading the future for anything that would be even remotely considered a looming threat, just as she had done when they were Sailor Guardians. But to her frustration, there was nothing, she had done the same ritual along with her other daily rituals for a few days in a row, but nothing came of it.
ll
ll
She tried to continue ignoring the sense, but just couldn't.
ll
ll
ll
She tried bringing it up later on, in a meeting at the cafe with Ami, since she was pretty educated on the human nature and people in general.
ll
ll
(Ami) Jeez Rei! Do you hear yourself? You sound like you're trying to describe the plot of some kind of Sci-Fi manga.
ll
ll
(Rei) Oh you've got to be joking right? We are literally reincarnations of people who defended royalty on the Moon who NOW defended the Earth from incoming threats! Hell! We've been the damn future for crying out loud! Is what I'm saying reaaaally all that exaggerated or fictional when you take everything we've ever done into account.
ll
ll
Ami wasn't laughing anymore. Her expression became slightly serious. She sighed, taking a deep breath, realizing that rei had a point, and was serious about her claim.
ll
ll
(Ami) And you really think that any version of Usagi is even remotely capable of this? How can you be so sure?
ll
(Rei) Call it a feeling or a hunch or whatever you want. But there's something wrong with this Usagi. This morning, she was copying the way Usagi usually acts, even doing her hair the same way.
ll
ll
(Ami) Well what did you think she would do? She herself is also Usagi. But you have a point there as well. Although she can sometimes be emotional, she's not one to reveal her negative feelings from under that bubbly exterior she shows everyone. For all we know, she could be going insane, but we wouldn't know until she broke.
ll
ll
(Rei) See!? You get what I'm trying to say!
ll
ll
(Ami) Rei!
ll
ll
Rei noticed that she had just yelled and was standing, drawing the attention of the other patrons for a second.
ll
ll
Rei sat down, slightly embarrassed.
ll
ll
(Ami) So if, and I reaaally mean IF, she's mentally unstable and might try to replace Usagi. What do you suggest we do? We can try altering their appearances to be different, but that's too easy to get around, so what did you have in mind?
ll
ll
(Rei) Well. I thought that our Usagi could wear something that the other wouldn't notice, like a bracelet or something. Just something that will be big enough for us to recognize, but small enough to fool the other Usagi. You know, something that we'll know she's wearing, but the other won't. You get what I'm sayin?
ll
ll
(Ami) I do, but you haven't said anything that we can actually use.
ll
ll
(Rei) That part... I have yet to figure out yet, but I'm heading over to the garage today, so I guess I'll discuss it with her today.
ll
ll
(Ami) Really? I guess it's good timing then. You can discuss this with her and maybe see if she's willing to believe you. Because you gotta remember. She looks for the good in EVERYONE, so it might be hard for you to convince her that someone has a possible ill will towards her.
ll
ll
Before the two departed, they wished each other well and Ami wished Rei luck.
ll
ll
Rei found the old car that her grandfather had stored away at the Shrine for many years.
ll
ll
It was an orange 1978 Datsun 280z. Grandpa Hino had forgotten where he had parked it, but he said in his own words "I used to get all the girls in town with that beauty! They loved getting in the car and even more so when I floored it on the highway!"
ll
ll
She had to push it manually out of the shed it had been kept in.
ll
ll
There was a lot of damage to be fixed. Rusted panels, worn down engine components... a LOT of work to be done. But thankfully, she had a her own personal mechanic. A.K.A. Usagi.
ll
ll
She called the shop to see if she was off that day.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Hello, Haru's Automotive, if it has an engine and wheels, we can service and repair it! This is Usagi speaking!
ll
ll
Rei laughed a little. She sounded so cheery and enthusiastic, that she couldn't help but feel the need to laugh a little.
ll
ll
The cheery tone dropped for a flat one.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh, hey Rei.
ll
ll
Rei was now laughing out loud.
ll
ll
(Rei) OH! I am so sorry Usagi, I just didn't!-
ll
ll
After a few seconds Rei had composed herself.
ll
ll
(Usagi) You done laughing yet?
ll
ll
(Rei) Yeah. Sorry about that, I just wasn't expecting that.
ll
ll
(Usagi) So... What's up? As far as I know, you don't have a car, even though you have your driver's license.
ll
ll
(Rei) Well, I recently found a car, but I need help repairing it.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh? Now I'm curious. Rei, what car is it?
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) It's a... Nissan 280z?
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Wow Rei, I didn't think you were one for classic cars.
ll
ll
(Rei) Yeah, Gramps parked it in a shed on the property and forgot about it entirely.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Ouch, and for how long?
ll
ll
(Rei) I wanna say... around ten years.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Is it drivable? Wait! Wait for me to get off from work and I'll go take a look myself, okay? Just remember where you parked it. Don't want it getting lost another time do we?
ll
ll
(Rei) Yeah, sure, see you then.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah, see you soon!
ll
ll
ll
ll
ll
A few hours later, Usagi arrived at the Shrine around sun down.
ll
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Alright, I'm here, lets go look at this car.
ll
ll
ll
Before the two went out to the shed, the other Usagi came out of the Shrine.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Usagi! HEEEEEEEEEEEY!
ll
ll
The other Usagi gingerly ran down the long Shrine steps and Usagi hugged her with a warm embrace.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Hey there Usagi, how has it been, getting used to the Shrine?
ll
ll
(Usagi?) It's been wonderful! Rei even let me start working with her! It's really been great and I'm glad you all let me stay here!
ll
ll
(Usagi) That's good to hear. I'm glad Rei is taking good care of you. But then again, that's kinda how she is. She's the type of person to never sit on the sidelines while someone else is in trouble.
ll
ll
Rei accepts the compliment, even though the responsibility was somewhat not really her choice if memory serves correctly, but she didn't say anything, the compliment without an insult was rare.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) So what are you doing here so late in the day?
ll
(Usagi) Well, Rei has a car that needs to be fixed, so I'm here to see what I can do.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Oh! That's right, I forgot you were a mechanic.
ll
ll
The three went to the old shed. Inside, the car had many layers of dust covering it.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Rei, you got the keys?
ll
ll
(Rei) Huh?
ll
ll
(Usagi) The keys for the car. Don't tell me those are lost too!?
ll
ll
The other Usagi walked around the car and came back with something in her hand.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Is this it?
ll
ll
ll
It was an old, bronze key that had the Nissan Logo on the larger part of the key.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) I think so. Hopefully, the engine will just turn over.
ll
ll
ll
Before Usagi inserted the key, she looked at Rei.
ll
ll
(Usagi) You wanna do the honors?
ll
(Rei) Sure.
ll
ll
Rei got into the old, cloth seat and put the key into the ignition, said a small prayer and turned the key.
ll
ll
After a couple cranking noises and a few sputters, the engine turned over and the car was alive!
ll
ll
The two Usagi's were jumping with joy.
ll
ll
Usagi went to the window to talk to Rei.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) Okay, now that we know the engine starts, I got to ask, can you drive manual?
ll
ll
(Rei) Um, whose car did I have to use to practice for my driver's test?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh yeah huh! Well, this is slightly different. This car is a 5-Speed, so there's no sixth gear when you're on the highway. But let's see if it can move. Try puting the car in first and accelerating a little.
ll
ll
Rei carefully put the car in first and pulled forward a little.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Okay, okay... Let me make a call, I need to see if I can barrow my parent's garage. Don't turn off the car okay.
ll
ll
ll
Usagi walked away and put her phone up to her ear and began talking to her mother.
ll
ll
After the excitement from starting the car began to fade, Rei found the other Usagi just looking at the car and it's features.
ll
ll
But she wasn't looking like she was interested, her face seemed blank, like she was day dreaming as she looked at the car.
ll
ll
Rei let the oddball keep looking until Usagi came back, to which the girl seemed to go right back to being vibrant like Usagi.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Alright Rei! We got the go ahead. I'll guide you out of the Shrine and we'll park the car at my house.
ll
ll
(Usagi?) Can I come with you two?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Sorry Usagi, but my parents will be there, and if they see us together, they might get scared and freak out. It's the reason you're not staying with me right now actually.

The other Usagi seemed to be a mix of frustrated and disappointed, leaving the two to go back to the Shrine.
ll
ll
Usagi comforted the girl before she left though, saying that the car will come back when they're done working on it, and she can take rides with her whenever she wants.
ll
ll
It was weird. Usagi was comforting a slightly younger Usagi like she was a small child.
ll
ll
The other Usagi then became happy again and went back to the Shrine with a smile.
ll
ll
ll
Meanwhile, Usagi led Rei out of the Shrine, making sure the car didn't hit a wall or edge that would scratch the paint.
ll
ll
After successfully getting the car into the street, Usagi got in her 86 and the two drove slowly to Usagi's house with their hazard lights on, just in case the 280z gave out during the ride.
ll
ll
Thankfully, the 280z made it all the way, even being able to park in the garage.
ll
ll
In the garage, Kenji Tsukino looked at the car in his driveway and the car in his garage.
ll
ll
(Kenji) (With a personality like hers, I never would've thought that she would be doing this kind of thing.)
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) Thanks again Mr. Tsukino for letting Usagi fix my car here.
ll
ll
(Kenji) Yeah, no problem. Usagi is the only one who uses the garage. We don't have a car since we work so close, so we never had a use for it.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Hey dad, you know that this car is younger than you?
ll
ll
(Kenji) No kidding huh? By how much?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well... It's the same age as me!
ll
ll
(Kenji) What!? It's from 1978!? Jeez... That means I'm 20 years older than this car... Thanks Usagi... for making me feel old in a way I never though possible.
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh c'mon Dad, you're not that old yet!
ll
ll
Kenji left the garage after a little laugh with the girls, the Shigo came in as Rei popped the hood for Usagi to start looking for anything that might be too damaged to leave on the car.
ll
ll
ll
(Shingo) So, Dad says you found another car to spend all your time on.
ll
ll
ll
(Usagi) ~Shingo~ If you're about to say what I think you are, then I got a wrench riiight here that says your name on it.
ll
ll
ll
Shingo grinned widely before saying something that Rei didn't hear before Usagi yelled towards the door.
ll
ll
(Usagi) You won't be saying that to ME when I gotta fix your damn car when it breaks down.
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) Wow, you seem pretty mad. What did he say that could get under your skin?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Oh nothing. Just that he thinks cars are just two ton pieces of metal used for transport. He also likes to say "It's just a car, Usagi."
ll
ll
(Usagi) But he's wrong. If you believe deeply enough, it is possible to give cars a life of their own. It's not forcing your imagination or make belief, but a real feeling that one can establish to give one's car a life and personality of it's own.
ll
ll
ll
(Rei) Wow... You're really passionate about these things huh?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Yeah... I've felt this way after seeing some cars race on the freeway and at the local car meets. These people, they treat their cars as if they were their children, doing everything they can to make them as beautiful as possible, but have high performance.
ll
ll
(Rei) So if I were to say what he just said-
ll
ll
(Usagi) I would throw the largest tool I can throw at you. And charge you for fixing the car.
ll
ll
(Rei) Wait what!? You're doing this free of charge!?
ll
ll
(Usagi) Well, I will if you promise to come by and help sometimes, maybe bring some food in the process...
ll
ll
The two talked as Usagi worked on the car, removing several parts from the engine bay as Rei would occasionally help and by the end of the night, the two would be covered in sweat and smell like gasoline. But that didn't stop them from laughing and having a good time.
