Chapter Three:
Makerboy's Wahoo World Date
It felt great to wind down after kicking serious Octarian tentacle, after a rescue mission.
After making it back to Tentekeel Outpost, Makerboy hung up his uniform, then he headed back to his apartment in Inkopolis to freshen up. The green-haired squid helped himself to a drink of tasty cola from the fridge, then he went to the bathroom for a shower.
Feeling a bit sweaty from all of that action, while slightly inked up from Octarian fire, Makerboy was ready to wash up before he did anything else. He put aside his shoes, then he threw his shirt in the laundry along with his black pants. And then, he stepped into the shower stall and turned the knob.
A hiss filled the bathroom as steamy water rained down upon the green-haired Inkling, rinsing and massaging his lean body. He grabbed some soap and lathered up his shoulders before lathering his torso, then he let the water rinse it off.
'Dang, I feel fresh already.' Makerboy thought.
He let the water rinse him for a little longer, then he turned off the shower and stepped out. Makerboy grabbed a green towel and dried off, then he looked at the mirror to see the identical green-haired squid in the boxers that was his own reflection. Makerboy flexed his muscles, then he picked up his phone and took a selfie.
'Just got out of the shower after a Turf War.' He texted, posting the picture on Twitter, 'Like the Squid Sisters say, ya gotta stay fresh.'
Makerboy posted the picture and saw the reactions. A couple red hearts popped up in the comments, likely sent by girls who were all over him. The green-haired Inkling grinned, he sure was quite the popular Inkling with all the charm.
The tan Inkling exited the bathroom and opened his closet in the bedroom, looking for a new shirt to wear. He settled upon a gray undershirt and a green sweater, then he slipped them on, before grabbing some green socks and a pair of white sneakers.
Now, that he was fresh. It was time to take care of something more important.
He looked at his phone and checked his texts. He saw a text from SGA, asking if he was up for another hang-out, and then he saw a text from Jim. Makerboy pulled up the window and chuckled, seeing that Jim had photographed himself making out with Marina in the Off The Hook studio, and Marina was wearing a variant of Callie's octo-hypno costume.
"Hope people don't pay much attention to your fun." Makerboy quipped.
And finally, he saw a text from her, his girlfriend Saiko Bichitaru, asking him if they still had their date at Wahoo World.
"Yeah, I'm free." He quipped, texting Saiko that, he also made sure to tell her that Jim was okay.
Saiko was aware that Makerboy often worked with the Squidbeak Splatoon, depending on what was going on, and she didn't mind that he was helping the good guys kick bad guy butt to save the world. Makerboy was helpful and one of the nicest Inklings in town, which contributed to his charm, even if some people didn't know about his agent activities.
Now, it was time for a date. Makerboy texted Saiko to tell her that he was on his way. And then, he took a couple deep breaths, and departed his place. Once he stepped outside, Makerboy morphed into squid form and launched himself into the air like a rocket. He could not be late.
Makerboy flew over Inkopolis until he came in for landing right by the gates to Wahoo World itself. The Inkling waved to a couple Jellyfish heading into the park, then he leaned on a sign post and tapped his foot, waiting for his girlfriend to show up.
And yet, where was Saiko?
"Were you looking for someone?"
He turned and slipped on some shades, flashing a sweet grin. Approaching him, wearing a black crop top, a tan vest, and a brown skirt, was a pink-haired Octoling with purple eyes. The Octoling was actually Saiko Bichitaru, Makerboy's girlfriend, and she was usually a pink-haired anime female. But, not too long ago, Saiko had turned into an Octoling.
It wasn't by her own free will, some mysterious entity had popped up with a staff and cast a spell that turned Saiko into an Octoling. And this wasn't the first time someone Makerboy knew got hit by a spell that changed them, his other crush Shantae had gotten turned into a giantess a few weeks ago before she returned to normal, with Dark Squid's help, of course.
As for when Saiko would revert back to her human self, it would be a while, unless the curse was eternal and she would be an Octoling until the day she drew her final breath. But Makerboy loved her unconditionally, especially as Saiko was still the same chick on the inside.
"How's my girl?" Makerboy asked Saiko.
"Fresh in the flesh." Saiko replied, looping her arm around the Inkling to kiss him on the cheek.
Makerboy smiled and swept his human-turned Octoling girlfriend off her feet, "Shall we have some fun, babe?"
"You bet, sweet squid." Saiko whispered in his ear.
Being the courteous squid he was, Makerboy held Saiko gently and carried her into Wahoo World, even as a couple Inklings watched the handsome green Inkling boy carry the shapely Octoling through the gates. And once they were inside the park, that was when the fun began.
The first thing Makerboy and Saiko decided to do in the park was watch the Jellyfish juggling act, they sat down in a couple lawn-chairs by a glass dome and watched as a Jellyfish in a colorful costume juggled a pair of Sea Snails, throwing them into the air, before catching them all with ease.
And then, the Jellyfish brought out a couple 8 Balls and began to juggle them alongside the Sea Snails. Saiko was so impressed, she leaped from her chair with a squeal. Makerboy grinned and snapped a picture of the juggling jellyfish. Then he took a selfie with the Jellyfish behind him while making sure Saiko got into the shot.
'You'd love this act.' He texted as he posted the picture on social media.
When the juggling show was finished, Makerboy and Saiko decided to go on the carousel and the green squid helped his woman climb onto one of the sea horses, then he climbed on with her. And luckily, there was room for two on a carousel ride.
Carnival music began playing over a speaker and the carousel started to move. The sea horse moved up and down and Makerboy sat behind his girlfriend, his hands clasped to her slender hips, and he kissed her upon the neck as their ride went round and round. Saiko laughed happily, and, since she was an Octo, she sounded just like any other Octoling.
Once they'd finished the ride, Makerboy and Saiko both decided to get some cotton candy. Makerboy strolled up to the cotton candy booth, run by a nice Jellyfish named Finy, and paid for a strand of cotton candy for himself. And then, he bought another for Saiko.
They sat down upon a bench, helping themselves to their cotton candy, tasting it all slowly, and they ate until it was gone. Saiko belched and Makerboy pulled out a napkin, then he wiped some cotton candy off the Octoling's face. Saiko leaned on Makerboy's shoulder and he put an arm around her, taking in their surroundings, and smiled happily.
Man, today was such a good day to come here for a date, and Makerboy was happy to make sure their date would last as long as possible.
He stood up, holding Saiko's hand, and invited her to go on the Ferris Wheel with him next. Saiko kissed Makerboy, then he led her to their next ride. Thankfully, they had enough money to go on the ride. Saiko paid the Jellyfish a sea coin, then she and Makerboy stepped into the closest Ferris Wheel booth and the door closed.
"Wanna sit on my lap, babe?" Makerboy asked, sitting down on the bench.
Saiko looped her arms around his neck, then she kissed him on the nose, and sat down on the bench. The slender Octoling then adjusted herself until she was sitting comfortably on Makerboy's shoulder right as the Ferris Wheel began to move. Up and down, round and round, it went, and music played over the speakers like in the carousel ride.
"We're gonna be in here for a while." Saiko told Makerboy, gently stroking his face, "But the best part is that nobody is watching us, which means we can have all the fun in the world in here."
'Damn.' Makerboy held Saiko's hand. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves, we don't want to disturb anyone." He told her, "But I will say, we're having so much fun already."
*One Ferris Wheel ride later*
Saiko let off a bubbly Inkling-esque squeal and smiled as Makerboy carried her out of Wahoo World, holding her in his arms, princess-style. The Inkling boy was grinning as hard as his girlfriend was. Saiko kissed him on the cheek and said, "Thank you for taking me to Wahoo World, Makerboy."
"We can come back sometime, if you want." Makerboy told the attractive Octoling.
"Perhaps another day." Saiko whispered in his ear as they strolled through the streets of Inkopolis.
They stopped by a street corner and Makerboy set Saiko down by a lamp post. He stared into her purple eyes, holding her hand gently, while his attractive girlfriend placed a gentle hand upon his cheek. And then, they dipped into a kiss, with Makerboy running a hand beneath her thigh, and he held up Saiko's leg.
Saiko pressed her lips onto Makerboy's lips, kissing him as hard as he could, before they pulled back into reality and Makerboy put her leg down. Saiko hugged Makerboy and leaned her head on his shoulder, Makerboy hugged her back and gave Saiko a kiss on the head.
"How have you been handling your Octoling body?" He asked.
Makerboy took a step back, looking at his girlfriend as she looked down at herself. "I've been alright." She replied, "Its so different from being human, I can turn into an octopus and swim through ink, but I do miss being a human."
"Its not what matters on the outside, babe." Makerboy held her hand, "Its what's on the inside that counts."
Saiko's eyes seemed to well up. "Th-thank you for supporting me during a trying time." She croaked, "Its been so hard, even though being in this form has its benefits, even though I look really cute."
"Everything will be okay, Saiko." Makerboy told his girlfriend, "I'll find a way to get you back to normal. Just hang in there. Don't do anything reckless like join DJ Octavio's army, okay?"
Saiko gave him another kiss, then she walked away. She looked back towards Makerboy and said, "See you later, handsome."
"We can have a movie night tonight, if you want..." Makerboy replied.
The anime girl-turned Octoling flashed him a wink, then she walked away, leaving Makerboy on the sidewalk. He smiled dreamily, thinking of every moment they spent together, and then he strolled through the city, waving to a few Inklings and Jellyfish as he passed.
He was walking past a jewelry store when he thought of Saiko again, then Makerboy stopped and looked at all of the jewels that were on display. He'd bought Saiko so many gifts, but it never hurt to gave her another one. Makerboy had bought her plenty of diamonds, so what else could he buy her?
Just then, his eyes settled on a new-looking piece of jewelry on display. It looked like a regular necklace of diamonds, but the diamonds seemed to let off a magic glow. Then he saw the card with the name of the item on it: 'Nectaria Crystal Charm, can cure curses and bring good luck."
Makerboy's face lit up, maybe this could be what Saiko needed. But how much did it cost?
