AN: Here's the next chapter! Izuku finally goes to UA and we find out how his first day goes! Also there is language...Bakugou and there is descriptions of panic attacks.
*Also there is a phone number included in this. DO NOT CALL IT! I don't know who it belongs to, but it's a joke I'll reveal at the end of the chapter. Kudos to you if you figure it out beforehand.
Chapter 9
Izuku was so nervous as he fiddled with his tie in his hands. Maybe he should just ask Mr. Aizawa if he knew how to do it or he was 100% all for not wearing it at all. He'd much rather prefer the latter option. But that would just burden him. Also to tell him he'd rather not wear the tie because it reminded him of something the doctor put on him when he didn't behave wouldn't go over well either. Izuku didn't want to think about it and shook his head of the thought. He was actually kind of excited to go to school again, especially with Kacchan! At UA nonetheless! If he told him, Aizawa might keep him back until Izuku talked about it. He'd rather not yet, thanks. However, if he didn't put on the tie, he could make Aizawa mad and would be disgracing UA, the school he once dreamed about attending that was graciously providing for him. He didn't understand why they were being so generous. Granted he was only there as a cover until they could see about him being officially admitted if possible. That would be like a dream come true, but something still nagged at him. From what Mr. Aizawa said he'd sit with his class during their normal lessons and while they did hero training he'd either be in his counseling sessions or seeing Recovery Girl. Once he put on a little more weight they'd talk about exercising with them as he could gain his strength. Afterward it would be up to Izuku and didn't that not sit well with him.
Taking a deep calming breath, Izuku knew he couldn't bother anymore than he already had, and slipped the offending material around his neck. A shiver surged down his spine. He felt his heart starting to pick and his hand shook as he reached up to touch the...soft cloth and not the humming, heavy metal.
'It's fine. That's me. It's just a tie. It's not going to hurt me.' Izuku repeated to himself. Tying it so it wasn't completely touching him and loose he felt calmed that it was over and done with. Looking in the mirror helped as he saw it was just the tie despite the way it didn't look the way he had seen them before. Hopefully no one would say anything about his tie being so short.
"Izuku, are you ready?" Aizawa said, poking his head in the door after a small knock.
Aizawa smiled. It had been a couple days since Izuku came to live with him. After Bakugou, Hizashi, and Hitoshi, reluctantly, had gone home for the night he took everything to Izuku's room where they used the time to explore all Aizawa had gotten him. Aizawa enjoyed watching Izuku's eyes light up with little sparks of hope.
"This room will be yours for as long as you want it."
The boy cried again when Aizawa told him that and showed him everything he got him in detail. Just as Izuku thought Mr. Aizawa had slipped various posters and a couple figurines past him which he helped put up. There were some of All Might, Present Mic, Edgeshot, and a couple new heroes he had never heard of. He thought the one called Hawks was pretty cool! Apparently was the current Number 3 hero at only 22 having started his agency at 18! Aizawa said later he could use that new laptop or phone to look up all the debuts he missed. Izuku couldn't wait! His quirk looked so cool with those bright red, fierce wings! Not to mention anyone else!
Aizawa got him plenty of books that fit on the small shelf that had a bunch of old textbooks Aizawa said he was more than welcome to look through if there was something he didn't know. Izuku thanked him as he couldn't wait to see what each was about. He told Aizawa, he was the minority of people who loved to learn. Aizawa joked he was already better than half his students. Izuku liked hanging out with Aizawa. The man could be funny when he wasn't trying to be. He made him feel safe and comfortable. He was just himself and while he was cautious, he didn't treat Izuku like he was made of glass.
For the time being Izuku would use the beddings Aizawa already had. Aizawa said he forgot the simple comforts of having your own sheets, comforters, and blankets as he thought about the ones already there. Currently they were black sheets with a navy blue plaid comforter. Izuku said he didn't mind it and liked them a lot. They settled on at least getting him a blanket or two of his own.
While at the tech store Aizawa made sure they also set up his phone to his plan and he already had four numbers in his contacts. Kacchan wouldn't leave until Izuku had it memorized. He drilled him until he could say (397) 567-4667 like the back of his hand along with the promise once his phone was set up to text him. Izuku didn't get why that was important when it would be in his contacts. Apparently he might always have access to that Izuku thought mocking his friend. Izuku mentioned it'd be easier to just write it down and Kacchan protested that his dumbass would lose it. Meanie. He was glad to Kacchan hadn't changed too much.
"Yes." Izuku said as he pulled at his tie again.
Aizawa watched as he put on his red high tops. Clearly something was bothering him, but he couldn't put a finger on it. Was he nervous about today? Last night the boy expressed he was excited to attend school to see what UA was like and see all the students. Aizawa took it as a good sign. Although his class was the most rambunctious group yet they were all good kids. Also Izuku wouldn't have too many issues following along with the curriculum.
The day before, Aizawa made sure to go over everything with Izuku. Luckily Izuku didn't need much catching up on as his father said he refused to have a stupid son and often provided school work from all different levels expecting them to be completed correctly. Much of Izuku's alone time was spent self-studying. Izuku didn't mind that too much as he proved to be very intelligent. In some places he struggled and excelled in others, but in a few areas he was ahead for his age. Aizawa was pleased and made sure Izuku knew he could come to him if he needed help. His education level made the cover story more believable. Anyone not in Aizawa's class would be told he's a transfer student under Eraserhead. The students of 1A would be told that he was in witness protection and to leave it at that. Izuku wasn't sure if Aizawa was serious or not, but the older man said if his class couldn't handle minding their own damn business and protecting him then he was expelling them. As future heroes, something they needed to learn you don't have all the facts when it comes being given the duty to protect someone. At the end of the day, a hero does it because that's what they're supposed to do. However, if at any time Izuku felt overwhelmed he could just walk out and Aizawa would handle it. Izuku reassured him that things were bright because he was excited to go to school with this new life and he had Kacchan and now his newest friend Shinsou was there too.
Bakugou strolled quietly into the classroom that morning. Everyone stopped talking and looked at him. His eyes narrowed as he glared down each and every one of them. These punks probably didn't expect to see him coming back to class ever.
"That's right fuckers, I'm still here." Bakugou said with a smirk. There was no way Aizawa was getting rid of him now. Not that he was trying to be smug about it, but it was so tempting and some of that feeling might have slipped out. Not fucking sorry. Ha.
"Bakugou! Watch your language! You may still be here right now, but that could easily change!" Iida shouted.
"Oh shut it! You fucking wish!" Bakugou said, sitting down and turning back to Shinsou two seats behind. "Hey eyebags. He's coming to class today."
Shinsou raised an eyebrow before he understood what Bakugou meant by his statement. A small smile graced his lips. He had been talking with Izuku since that night, mainly over text, but he was thankful for the opportunity to actually get to know the other boy. They shared a little more in common then they thought and Shinsou made sure he would introduce Izuku to the fine dining of cat cafes and the bliss of naps.
"Good. We'll watch out for him." Shinsou said.
"Since when are two friends?" Sero asked curiously.
"We have a mutual friend." Shinsou simply answered in a monotone.
"No way! I don't believe it!" Kaminari said laughing. "Bakugou doesn't have friends!"
"Hey! I'm his friend bro!" Kirishima called.
Bakugou rolled his eyes. Oh yeah. The last few days made what happened at the USJ seem like a distant memory. To be honest, that shit didn't matter anymore. Something way more important came of it and after Bakugou laid in bed thinking about it. He technically was the reason Izuku was saved in the first place. If Aizawa hadn't jumped to save him, he would have never found Izuku. So everything else before that moment in the hospital became not important. He'll admit, he totally forgot that he made…he'll call it an alliance with Shitty Hair. Bakugou wondered if he could cancel his subscription since his services were no longer required to find Izuku. However, he may still be of some use. Admittedly the red haired guy was a friendly fellow and he could probably use him to help Izuku. Fine, he guessed he could stick around for a little while longer.
"Hey Shitty Hair." Bakugou grunted.
"Broo! It's Kirishima!" Kirishima whined before noting the seriousness to his tone. "Woah. What's up man?"
"Aizawa found him." Bakugou said dead serious, making direct eye contact.
It took a minute before Kirishima pieced everything together. Yes, Bakugou was being vague on purpose and yes, Kirishima wasn't the brightest red crayon in the box, but he knew with his heart what this meant.
"No way!" Kirishima said excitedly, jumping out of his seat to go to Bakugou's. It was like a kid on Christmas and Bakugou appreciated that he felt this way even though he'd never met Izuku. "Dude, is he okay? I'm assuming he's alive! That's wicked! Aizawa is such a pro! You must be super stoked!"
"Enough shitty hair!" Bakugou yelled, pushing him away.
"Hey Kirishima, what's up with all of the sudden joy?" Ashido asked nosily.
"Guys–"
"Quiet and in your seats!" Aizawa came in shouting. Quickly they scrambled into their seats and sat perfectly as their teacher walked to the podium.
"Mr. Aizawa, is everything okay?!" Iida questioned jumping out his seat and raising his hand. "We heard what happened at the USJ–"
"I'll get to that in a minute. Sit down, Iida." Aizawa said. Iida sat back down without a word. "Good morning. We have a lot to get through today. First and foremost, the UA Sports Festival is about to start." Everyone started cheering! Aizawa was beginning to rethink this whole day with Izuku if they were going to this rowdy. So not worth his headache and Izuku's mentality. Hopefully they'll be the respectful future heroes he knows they can be. Or otherwise they wouldn't be here. "Quiet!"
"Are they sure that's a good idea to hold the festival so soon after villains snuck inside?" Jirou asked.
"Aren't they worried the villains might attack again if we're all in the same place?" Ojiro added.
Aizawa scoffed, "The administration has decided to continue on with the UA Sports Festival to show the threat has been handled and the school is safe. They'll have increased security. As you know this is a huge opportunity at UA that can't be skipped. This is your chance to get spotted by agencies that can assist you in one day going pro. It all starts here even as first years, so I better not see any slacking off in your training. Understand?"
"Yes sir!"
"Now." Aizawa said, taking a breath. "You are only being told this because it will affect your classroom setting. As you know I was transported along with the villains when they made their escape from the USJ. As you can see I escaped unharmed."
"That's because you're like a total badass, right Mr. Aizawa?" Kaminari said.
"No." Aizawa answered. "While there I recovered a missing boy from an incident that occurred almost six years ago who aided in my safe return. That boy is currently in witness protection being monitored by UA. He will be sitting in this class because we have an empty seat, so he can socialize with new people along with people he trusts, and where I can keep an eye on him. What I'm about to hand out is a non-disclosure agreement. Often as pros you'll have to sign them as they're a legally binding written contract that prevents you from speaking about him to anyone else besides the people in this room and the pro heroes on staff. If you break this contract you will be expelled, blacklisted, and prosecuted. Do you understand?"
Aizawa made sure the point got across as he stared down each and every one of them as his eyes started to shine red and his hair began to rise. He would admit out loud to anyone who asked that he took pleasure in seeing them visibly uncomfortable. At least he knew two of his students were in good hands with this information. Bakugou and Shinsou were already well aware and they knew if they wanted to see Izuku outside school then to keep quiet. Aizawa mentioned if Izuku wanted he could see Bakugou's parents, but until he was ready it would have to wait. According to the younger, loud blond in his life he hadn't told his parents yet as he said he wasn't sure if, when, and how he could bring it up. 'Remember Izuku, my childhood friend and Inko's son, yeah…he's been found and not dead.' Bakugou said his mother would flip her shit and be up his ass to see the sweet boy she thought of as her nephew. Aizawa kept the thought to himself that it's mother like son.
"Yes sir."
"Thank you. To anyone else he's a transfer student that I'm personally training. Any and all inquiries about him go through me. Please don't overwhelm him. He's still healing and this so he can learn and get used to being with kids his own age. What he shares is his own choice and I will not tolerate badgering. Understood?"
"Yes sir."
Satisfied with his class he then said toward the door, "You can come in now."
The door slid open and everyone's eyes moved at once.
'He looks small.'
'I wonder what his quirk is.'
'What happened?'
'He's so cute! I love those curls!'
Their stares being directed made Izuku freeze up and stiffly walk in. They all looked eager to comment, but were silenced by Aizawa's quirked glare that had returned in full force. He was curious to know what they thought and he kind of wished he had a telepathy quirk. As he got a couple steps in he made eye contact with Kacchan and the blond nodded to him. He would be alright. He slowly relaxed as he came beside Aizawa.
"This is Izuku Midoriya. Your seat is between Bakugou and Shinsou."
Izuku nodded and hurried over to his seat. He nervously sat down and Aizawa could see the kid's shoulder and breath tense. He looked at Bakugou and Shinsou making sure they met his eyes before nodding. They nodded back, understanding their unsaid assignment to protect him.
"That is all. You're dismissed until your next class."
As soon as Aizawa walked out of the room all hell broke loose. Everyone in the class save the few loners rushed over toward Izuku asking a flurry of questions with each one getting louder than the last as they each tried to talk over one another.
"You're so cute! Who does your hair?"
"What's your quirk?!"
"What can you tell us?"
"Where do you stay?"
"Woah man!" Kaminari shouted as he was pushed and stepped on. In all the rush Kaminari lost control of his quirk for a moment. From his hands yellow electrical sparks flew into the air before raining down on those around him.
"Ow!" Ashido yelled as she quickly brushed off her clothes that felt like they had a static to them.
"Quiet down before someone gets hurt! Kaminari, please control your quirk! Now I know we all–"
Bakugou growled as he waved off the annoyance and Shinsou rolled his eyes. However what caught their attention was the whimper and quick deep inhale.
"Izuku?" Bakugou said, turning toward him. Izuku's green eyes were blown wide as he stared at nothing, but saw everything.
Izuku's breathing was fast and short. Other seconds he couldn't breathe. Something was clutching around his throat preventing him from taking a breath. Phantom electrical pulses surged down his body so painful that it almost knocked him out of his chair. Everything burned. His skin. His head. His lungs. Endure it. He had done every time before and it'll all be over soon. He gripped the desk in front of him so tightly that his nails dug in as his knuckles turned white. He had done something he wasn't supposed to again! He only got shocked when he did something wrong! What had he done? He was doing something right, right? Everyone said this was a good thing so why was he getting punished! Why wasn't it stopping?!
He needed to get it off. Izuku's breathing and heartbeat ran so quickly as he tried to remove the offending object from his throat. He clawed at his misshapen tie and every once in a while his nails would find his neck and dig in without worry.
"Midoriya." a calm voice said his surname.
"Izuku." the voice said again.
"Hey hero."
Izuku heard the word hero after his name. No. That wasn't right. Whoever that was, was wrong. He's not a hero. Everyone around him dies because he thought he could be one!
"I'm…"
The panic then vanished and Izuku felt lighter than he did before as he welcomed the sweet embrace of nothingness.
Bakugou didn't want to panic alongside Izuku, but Izuku couldn't hear him. Wherever he was, whether it was in my own thoughts or memories, had such a powerful hold on him and crawled its way to bring him down into a pit he was scared his friend wouldn't be able to crawl out of. Hopefully someone wasn't a complete dumbass and went to get Aizawa because he sure as hell wasn't leaving the nerd by himself with these vultures.
Thankfully seconds later, Aizawa burst through the door and a capture-weapon soared through the air wrapping around Izuku's neck like that was where it belonged. Taking only a few large strides Aizawa picked up the boy and walked out. To others he didn't say a word, but those two that could hear everything heard their teacher whisper soft reassurances that he was going to be alright. It all happened so fast and was over before anyone could register what happened.
"Dude! What did you do to him?!" Kaminari asked.
"He found a path through the darkness." Tokoyami muttered.
"That's his quirk." Tsu said.
"Really? That calmed him down, no sweat!" Kirishima said.
"It's because I removed his current state of mind. I guess there's no point in hiding it since you just saw it. I was hoping to keep quiet about it until after the Sports Festival. My quirk is called Brainwashing. After I have you under my control you'll do what I say as long as it doesn't require you to think. That's all I'll say." Shinsou answered.
"Wow! That's totally cool!" Ashido commented.
"Definitely." Ojiro added.
Shinsou smiled gladly that even though his quirk got outed before he wanted, they weren't mad or judgmental. They were really cool about it. When Tsu found out after USJ she said that she didn't mind his quirk, thought it was powerful, and had a strong feeling that the others would feel the same. Yeah, excuse him for not feeling the sentiment. He went to look at Bakugou and found him gone along with another member of their class.
Bakugou ran out almost a minute after Aizawa. He needed to make sure Izuku was okay. He might have to break his promise to Izuku, but if it meant Izuku would get better then he'd be fine with the nerd mad at him. Plus Izuku couldn't stay mad at anyone for long. Bakugou knew it would be like a day tops before he came crying back. He hated seeing him like this.
"Bakugou."
Bakugou stopped and let out a frustrated huff. What the fuck did he want now? Didn't his hard-ass do enough already?
"The fuck you want?" Bakugou snarled as he violently turned around.
"The boy. Midoriya. Was he who you were talking about all this time?" Iida asked.
Iida had thought a lot about Bakugou and what he was saying since the USJ. Bakugou was after those villains because they were connected to someone he was adamantly searching for. Admittedly, Iida did something that might be frowned upon, but as a future hero sometimes you have to go digging for answers no one asked questions for. He asked his brother to look into Bakugou. If someone, his classmate, was going through so much trouble then it had to be important. Bakugou was among the few who survived the Musutafu Massacre. This boy must be someone from that event.
"Why does it matter to you?" Bakugou asked.
"You seemed to have a different reaction to everyone else about his arrival. Not to mention you're going out of your way to chase after him. Bakugou, I know about what happened." Iida said.
"Did you fucking look me up?! What the fuck Four Eyes?! You know that's like, illegal and shit right?!"
Bakugou was fucking pissed. He didn't need his whole past trauma laid out like the Sunday News. That was his business to share with who he wanted.
"I thought about what you said at the USJ. I was wrong about your ambitions for being here. I can respect your goal to become a hero to help protect those you care about. I would do the same for my brother. At the end of the day you are my classmate and comrade despite I find your attitude unbecoming especially for a hero. If Midoriya is who you have been speaking about then he must be important to you. He's now a part of this class and I will do my best to help watch over him. Even if he wasn't I promised myself I would aid you because you are my classmates and he's important to you. For what it's worth Bakugou, I'm sorry." Iida said with a slight bow.
"Yeah. Whatever." Bakugou said, rolling his eyes. "He's one of the few people I give two shits about. Just know, if you or any of those dumbfucks do anything to him he doesn't like you'll have to answer to me."
"I understand Bakugou and share the notion despite being vulgar." Iida agreed.
Bakugou ended the conversation with a smirk and flipped him off before running off to find where Aizawa had taken Izuku.
Chiyo almost yelled at Aizawa for kicking her door before she saw the sweet boy he'd taken in nestled in his arms. Oh dear. Her heart bled for this child. She quickly motioned for him to place him on a bed near the window as she grabbed her stethoscope.
"Is he alright?" Aizawa asked Recovery Girl as she listened to his heart and lungs.
She took a breath in relief. "Yes. You said he was having a panic attack. Do we know what caused it?"
"No. I stepped out–"
"It was Sparky."
Aizawa turned to see Bakugou standing there panting. He must have chased after them as soon as he was given the chance. He wasn't surprised, but what surprised him was that he knew. Sparky was…Kaminari. What did Kaminari do? Yes the kid was a scatterbrain and couldn't keep his mouth shut, but he didn't think he would do anything malicious. Not when he was scared shitless of Aizawa.
"What do you mean?"
"Those extras got too rowdy and Sparky's quirk sparked. The sparks touched Izuku and he started to freak out." Bakugou started before he stopped. Sucks to suck if this made the nerd mad at him, but he couldn't watch him suffer in silence. "Mr. Aizawa, Izuku told me some things about his captivity when I stayed over. They…that bastard doc tortured him and they put a shock collar on him."
Recovery Girl and Aizawa looked at Bakugou in heartbroken disbelief. Recovery Girl made a small gasp as she placed a hand over her heart. Eyes then wandered over to where Izuku lay resting in the bed peacefully. The older woman looked closely at his neck. It didn't show any signs of burns or anything so whoever this was careful or at least taunted the child.
Aizawa cursed at his ignorance. He noticed that Izuku was struggling this morning, especially with his tie that would remind anyone of a choke hold. He should have talked to him. Maybe if he nudged Izuku a little he'd open up. In the days of knowing the kid, Izuku had his mind set on not worrying others about his problems. That wasn't healthy, but trust wasn't something he could play with. For right now, today seemed like a failure on his part. Maybe it was too early to introduce him back with kids his own age. Maybe they should have started off small. He promised himself and Izuku he'd always watch out for him.
Toshinori was dead tired. He had been in the nurse's office that morning so she could finish his healing and after some classes and a few other matters he was bone tired and ready for a nap. Chiyo told him when he was tired to come back and she'd let him rest there without worry. If anyone asked she'd tell them he was an outside patient she needed to see.
"Thanks Chiyo. I just needed a place to lay down before my next class."
Izuku heard a deep voice speak. It felt almost comforting, like he had heard it before. Like an old friend who just stopped by for a cup of tea.
Izuku knew what happened. He had another panic attack. He took in a deep breath that could be seen as sleeping to help bring himself back. It was going to be okay. It just had to be.
"Of course, but don't you dare disturb my patient, you hear me. He's been through a lot and doesn't need anymore trouble." Recovery Girl's voice answered.
"Of course. I'll be quiet." the man whispered as he sneaked a peak at the boy who laid peacefully asleep on the bed. The boy had wild curls and freckles. Cute kid. He was wearing a UA uniform so he must have been from one of the other courses and gotten ill or something. However the mass of bandages around him said otherwise. Guess, the kid really did have a rough day.
"You better. Now, I have to go out to the practice fields for Class 2A and 2B training. Just close the door when you leave."
After he was sure she was gone Izuku opened his eyes to see a tall man with blond hair in a dark suit. Izuku knew he didn't know this man, but looking at him nagged him otherwise. As the man turned to lay down their eyes met and Izuku squeaked.
"Oh. Sorry my boy I didn't mean to wake you!" the tall man said with a chuckle.
"Oh no sir. Not at all. I was just waking up when she left." Izuku answered. He was familiar with most of the teachers having at least shown pictures, but he certainly didn't recognize this frail man. "Are you a teacher here?"
" I'm sure you know that All Might teaches her now. I'm his secretary. I make sure he has time to do everything his schedule asks for and then some."
"Oh wow. Kacchan said that All Might taught here, but I haven't got a chance to meet him yet!" Izuku said. His old love for his favorite hero would never die. He was still amazing and it was so cool to think that he was teaching now to help the next generation. He was so envious of Kacchan who got to train with him! Maybe he'd be able to introduce him and get his autograph!
"I don't think I've seen you around, are you a student here?"
"Um…" What was he supposed to say? 'No, not really. I'm living with Eraserhead because he found me in a villain base and is making sure they don't come for me.' Yeah that'll go well with someone who personally knows the Number One Hero! He then remembered that Mr. Aizawa said this was who he was to anyone else. "Just transferred."
Wasn't technically a lie.
"Well then welcome to UA young man. My name is Toshinori Yagi."
"Pleased to meet you Mr. Yagi." Izuku said.
"You must be excited to have transferred here. Which course are you in?"
"Well, uh, right now, I'm sitting in Mr. Aizawa's 1A class."
"The hero course! You must have a good grasp on your quirk for him to scout you."
Aizawa was known for being a hardass and would single out those who weren't up to snuff and fit standards. The kid had to be impressive for Aizawa to just not dismiss him onto 1B. Although he remembered Aizawa had an empty seat in his class so it was likely Nezu told him he didn't have a choice.
Izuku went quiet. The relationship with his quirk was complicated. "Not really."
"That's so. Well don't take it too heart. A quirk is what you make of it, regardless of your history. You decide how you use it, young man."
Izuku's head snapped up and looked at the man who was smiling down at him. His smile reminded him so much of All Might. His words were something he faintly remembered All Might saying in an interview once. It had been such a long time ago he had forgotten.
Izuku smiled as the man's words sank in. Derivative was his quirk influenced by his father's. It allowed him to further understand one of many things he was still so passionate about, quirks. Each and every one was so different and Izuku had the ability to take any of the ones he understood for a test drive. Despite his father's wishes for him to follow him or the doctor's crazy notion to use him, Izuku decided what he specifically used his quirk for. He thought about it once or twice. What could his quirk be used for? A Quirk Counselor was a great option! Imagine how many people he could…help. A Pro Hero. That thought still nagged at him. Did he still want to be a hero? Was he worthy to call himself a potential hero? He still didn't know. He blamed his quirk for this. It wasn't it's or his fault this is how his life had ended up as. Izuku steeled himself. He was serious when he told Mr. Aizawa that he wants his life back and that's what he was going to do. No more being scared. No more of this…
"Being All Might's secretary means you're awesome like him! Thank you Mr. Yagi. I needed to hear that. I think I've learned something recently. Essentially, I was told not to lose when someone already laid the groundwork for me. A lot of people went through the trouble to help in the past few days. I know there is no way to quantify how to repay them, but I learned I can do so in another way. I can live the life they made sacrifices for and provided for me. The world is black and white mixed with grays, but regardless it's the world we live in. I'll live with the bad and use it to move forward toward my new future. Like All Might says, 'I Am Here!'" Izuku said he looked outside to the birds chirping as they landed on the trees before turning to the man whose eyes shook with awe.
Toshinori wanted to tell this kid he was All Might right then. Even simply as Toshinori Yagi, this kid thought he was amazing and what he said touched him even more. He wouldn't admit it, but for a long time he was filled with rage at his master dying at the hands of his greatest enemy. Others after her stepped in to raise him right and he held onto his morals to be a hero. The reason for his mantra, 'I Am Here!'. He should live for her memory, not try to live in it. This small child understood that there is an evil out there in the world lurking in the shadows and if this kid was a hero, he was certain as he lived through it, he'd do everything in his power to bring peace for those darker times.
"Yagi, what are you doing?" Aizawa's stern voice said.
Yagi jumped, spurting a bit of blood. Geez, Aizawa always scared the shit out of him.
"Ah Young Aizawa, me and…sorry young man I never got your name."
"Oh. Izuku Midoriya sir."
All Might didn't know where he had heard that name before. It was like it was on the tip of his tongue he heard recently. Maybe this transfer student was mentioned beforehand and he had just forgotten.
"Yes! Young Midoriya and I were having a delightful conversation! He's told me he's just transferred into your class."
Aizawa looked to Izuku who gave him a shrug. Aizawa nodded that he had done the right thing.
"I see. I guess All Might didn't fill you in this morning after you missed the staff meeting."
Yagi went bright red. Yeah, he might have missed the important staff meeting after the USJ. While he heard from the principal Aizawa had been found after being hijacked by this new League of Villains, he never heard anything else. Apparently what he found was very crucial and he was speaking with Tsukauchi later about those findings. He'd get the full story then.
"Yes, I'm actually speaking with him and the detective later about it. All Might has become a concerned party in the case and may offer some insight."
"See to it." Aizawa said. "Are you feeling okay now Izuku?"
"Yes, thank you. I'm sorry for the problem."
"Don't be. It's fine. This is all a lot to take in and I said I'd be here."
Izuku nodded before looking up. He had been thinking a lot about today. He trusted Mr. Aizawa as much as Kacchan. Mr. Aizawa was always there when he had trouble and Izuku wanted to extend that trust. Kacchan told him that night he needed to talk to someone because no one listened to him. Izuku knew he could do this in his upcoming sessions, but this would be the first step.
"Mr. Aizawa, can we talk?"
Aizawa smiled. "Sure kid. We can go to the lounge where a private office is. Sounds good?"
"Yes. Thank you." Izuku said with a small smile as he gathered the capture-weapon into his arms. The weight fabric was a sign of trust. This had to be important to Aizawa and for him to give it up. Izuku found it hard to believe and promised himself to take care of it.
Izuku needed to be brave while he had the courage. His own words struck through him and felt like Aizawa should know. He should know what he endured those six years. If Aizawa was going to lay down the groundwork to help him regain his life then he should at least know the life that he was giving it too.
Tsukauchi arrived punctually at UA with a briefcase in hand. Toshinori had messaged him also informing him he needed to be informed about Aizawa's recent adventure. The detective agreed to fill him as All Might would need to know since he was involved at the USJ attack and currently teaching at UA , the setting which would be most affected by what happened. Toshinori didn't get it, but Aizawa was a teacher here and the league did attack Class 1A. While he waited he thought about the child Aizawa was with. Izuku Midoriya. A transfer student. From where? He went to pull the boy's file, but it was nowhere to be found. Maybe his transcripts hadn't arrived? No matter, the boy had a good head on his shoulders with a bright future and if he was currently in Aizawa's class he'd see him again.
"I heard you missed the meeting." Tsukauchi commented on walking in.
"Unfortunately I was still healing so Chiyo wasn't kind." Toshinori said bashfully.
"Is she ever?" the detective laughed. The answer was always no.
"Not at all my friend. Please tell me what happened."
Tsukauchi sat down in front of him and pulled out some files laying them on the table.
"When Aizawa was transported by the villain, Kurogiri, he found himself at their base that was located in Kamino. Luckily he made his escape, but not without help apparently. What he found there was something no one thought of. Well, no adult thought of at least. Aizawa found a teenage boy that had been held captive by them for years."
A boy. Oh geez. This kid was probably a mess being stuck with them for so long. He wondered where the boy was now and if he could meet him and give him hope. Wait…a conversation he long forgotten about that he overheard came to mind.
"The Musutafu Massacre. The boy Young Bakugou mentioned. I don't remember his name though and I've been so caught up with everything I haven't had time to look more into it."
"Yes. Aizawa found him. His name is Izuku Midoriya."
Toshinori felt his heart almost leap out his chest. It was pounding so hard he felt it in his ears and it felt like his lungs got caught in his throat. He heard that name less than an hour ago. The bright child who moved him to almost tears.
"Ah Young Aizawa, me and…sorry young man I never got your name."
"Oh. Izuku Midoriya sir."
"Yes! Young Midoriya and I were having a delightful conversation! He's told me he's just transferred into your class."
"It can't be. The boy Aizawa was with…"
"Yes. Principal Nezu, Aizawa, and I have agreed to keep Midoriya here for the time being in case the league might come back for him. He's under the disguise of a transfer student. The case is cold and everyone thought he was dead so no one is jumping up to start over. He's got an interesting quirk and I had a suspicion I didn't tell anyone about it until I knew for sure since the kid is just as in the dark as we are on the major aspects. When you fought him those years ago we collected a blood sample from the scene to see if we could get a match. Of course, with discovering the man being hundreds of years old they were inconclusive. However, Midoriya's quirk, recently called Derivative, allows him to use any quirk as long as he knows how it works. I ran the test myself and didn't let anyone see it. All Might, Izuku Midoriya's DNA test was a match to All For One. I ran a paternity test, he's his father."
All Might's heart no longer beat as it dropped to the floor.
AN: Quite the day that's only just begun! More to come soon! See you!
