Scream V (2022) My Version
Chapter Twelve: A Panther Gone
Having heard the news about his player, Coach Charles Maddox was devastated. He decides to call his team together to the pool hall to talk about it. He wanted them to talk and get things off their chest. They also wanted to mourn the loss of their teammate. He stood in the middle of the pool hall surrounded by the players. He has brought them all cokes considering they are all under age to drink. He starts to give a speech.
"Listen up, today we lost a member of our family. David was a great football player. He was good teammate, a friend, a good all around kid. David had a funny disposition about him. He could make you smile with his infectious laugh, his dancing in the end zone got the home crowd involved." He said as the players all agreed. "He might not have been the smartest person on the team but he was a good kid and he will be missed. Now let's bow our heads in a moment of silence for our fallen Panther." He said as the entire team bows their heads. Chad bowed his head thinking about the moment he left David alone. A part of him blames himself. He shouldn't have left David alone. He couldn't have known that a killer was targeting his friends. "You'll be missed David." Coach Maddox concluded.
"To David!" The team says in unison before taking a sip.
"I don't get it. When we all left, he was still there." One teammate said.
"Yeah but he wasn't alone." Came the voice of another teammate.
"Whoever was the last to see him alive probably killed him." Another teammate spoke.
"Ok so who was the last to see him alive?" Asked teammate one.
"I think it was you." Teammate two spoke pointing to Chad. Chad looked on a little worried. "Yeah you Chad."
"Me what?" Chad asked.
"You and David were working out alone because we all left." Teammate two spoke again. He begins to move towards him. A couple of other teammates also moved towards Chad.
"You probably killed him. Didn't you?" Came the voice of another teammate.
"Hey I didn't kill anyone. He was my friend." Chad said defending himself.
"Yeah right!" You're as sick as your crazy ass uncle." Another one said who shoved Chad. Chad shoved him back. Before he knew it five of his teammates were attacking him punching him then shoving him onto the floor.
"CHAD!" Mindy called out to him as several of his teammates held her back. They watched as other teammates jumped him kicking him in the face and body. "STOP IT!" She yelled.
"What the hell is going on?!" Coach Maddox asked having come out the bathroom.
"Coach stop this please!" Mindy begged.
"Stop it this instant!" Coach Maddox yelled as the group of football players moved away from Chad who was bruised. His face was a bloody mess, his lip was busted and his left eye was sporting a cut above it with purplish bruises on his left cheek. The coach stood Chad up. "Get me a cloth or something. Meeks you ok?" He asked. Chad nodded but was angry. The bar tender got a cloth wet it with water and handed it to the coach. Coach Maddox began to clean Chad's face. "The hell is wrong with you all? He's your teammate."
"He killed David!" A teammate said.
"How could you know that?" Coach Maddox asked.
"Because he was the last one to be seen with him plus his uncle is the infamous killer Randy Meeks." Came another teammate.
"That's your proof geniuses?" Coach Maddox asked. The players looked around at each other not knowing what to say. "First off, just because he was the last to see David alive means nothing. Furthermore, you don't go around blaming people for the actions of their family members. It's stupid and it's wrong. Meeks has done nothing wrong and is a great teammate to all of you. And this is how you treat him? You treat him like an outcast. You're all wrong. Now apologize to him. All of you."
"Sorry." The entire team said to Chad who is cleaning his cut.
"FUCK ALL OF YOU!" Chad yelled grabbing his jacket and walking out of the pool hall.
"I'll be right there. Gotta use the toilet." Mindy said shoving past the players heading to the bathroom. She goes into a stall and begins urinating. She hears two voices.
"Oh my god. Did you see the football team jump Chad?" Girl one asks.
"Yeah I feel bad for him." Girl two said.
"Why?" Girl one asked.
"He's being accused of killing David." Girl two said.
"I don't think he did it." Girl two said.
"Do you not know who his family is. His uncle more specifically." Girl one said.
"Who's his uncle?" Girl two asked.
"His uncle is Randy fucking Meeks." Girl one said. Both left the stalls heading to the sink to wash their hands.
"Oh shit!" Girl two exclaimed. "Wait he's the one who hacked up all those people back in ninety six?"
"Yep. Him and Stu Macher." Girl one said.
"Oh shit!" Girl two exclaimed again.
"Oh shit is right. He and his sister Mindy are fucking psycho. It runs in the family." Girl one said.
"Fuck me." Girl two said. "I don't know about Mindy. I like her. She's always been nice to me."
"Yeah right. Don't be fooled by that. She could easily be luring you to your death." Girl one said.
"You're crazy." Girl two said laughing.
"Not as crazy as she is." Girl one said as they both laughed leaving the bathroom.
What they didn't know was that Mindy had overheard everything they said. She had tears in her eyes. It wasn't fair that she and her brother were being targeted because of who their uncle was. It broke her heart. She cleaned herself off, washed her hands and then left the bathroom. She sprinted out of the pool hall.
"FREAK!!!" Some of the football players yelled to her. Mindy got into Chad's car.
"Let's go." She said. Chad looked over at her. He noticed the tears.
"You ok?" Chad asked her.
"Fine, let's just go." Mindy said as Chad started the engine and peeled out of the parking lot of the pool hall.
Watching the entire scene from his seat was Dewey Riley. He felt bad for the Meeks'Martin twins due to the fact that everyone hates them because of what their uncle did. He didn't think it was fair for them to unjustly be compared to their uncle. He hadn't gotten involved because he didn't feel it was his place to say anything but it hadn't stopped him from feeling bad for them.
