Chloe knew who Quinn was. She was able to find her trace thanks to the rental lease which had to stipulate each name of the roommates. Quinn's name appeared on the High Notes' lease when the band rented the house for a year. She then questioned each member who was conscious enough to answer her. And finally, the Holy Grail, she had found one person in the damn school who knew where Quinn was now. The former member of High Notes said that Quinn had stopped her studies after some setbacks to devote himself to her business.
Chloe was now on a mission. She had to find Quinn and convince her to talk to Beca. Chloe needed to know the whole story because it couldn't stop at the last page of the journal and Beca had to realize that secrets are not always good, that we feel better when we share them. Chloe desperately wanted Beca to know that she could count on her and trust her, no matter what she was hiding.
The redhead entered the Queen's coffee with fanfare. She knew the place well, in fact, since the Bellas had gotten into the habit of drinking a milkshake there every time they returned from competition. It was a bit like their ritual, and they liked the calm that reigned there. It was also the only café still open when they returned. Chloe had never paid attention to the people who worked in this café. She now knew that Quinn was the owner.
Chloe rushed to the bar where a young brunette woman greeted her. She was cleaning the counter in front of her.
"Hello, I'm looking for Quinn Fabray" Chloe asked out of breath.
"Hi, Quinn has just left for an emergency but I can take a message if you want" The brunette replied with a welcoming smile.
"Shoot."
Chloe took a step back. She really thought she could talk to Quinn today. She hadn't anticipated having to postpone her discussion. She didn't know what to do. If she didn't talk to Quinn then her plan would fail and she couldn't confront Beca.
Chloe began to hyperventilate, one hand over her heart, the other gripping the bar, as if her lungs were now supporting the full weight of what she had understood and experienced over the past few days. She saw the brunette go around the bar and come and wrap her arms around her without understanding what she was saying. She saw her lips move but only an excruciating buzzing filled her ears.
"It's okay, don't worry. I'll get you a glass of water."
Chloe saw the brunette go into the kitchen and come back a few minutes later with a glass of water in hand. They were sitting on two stools at the bar. Chloe drank half of her drink before managing to calm her breathing.
"Sorry, I don't know why I reacted like tha" The redhead apologized, observing the water going down the contours of her glass.
"No need to apologize. It happens to me too. Panic attacks are common among people who like to control everything."
Chloe looked up and noticed the mischievous smile of the brunette in front of her. She decided that she liked this young woman, even if she knew nothing about her.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Chloe said and they both laughed.
"I'm sure of it. So tell me, what can Quinn do for you?"
"Ah, that's quite a long story."
"Go ahead, I have plenty of time."
Chloe then explained that she had read Quinn's diary, that she wanted to meet her to prove to her friend that stories don't always end badly. Then she also wanted to reassure herself and see with her own eyes that Quinn was still alive. Chloe had made sure not to reveal too much. She could be chatting with an employee.
"You know Beca then? She came her a few hours ago."
"Was Beca here?" Chloe asked, stunned.
"Yes, in fact, you missed it by an hour more or less" The brunette said, looking at her watch. "She came in to play the piano and met Quinn completely by chance. They talked, exchanged numbers and Beca left." She said.
"Oh, wow. What a coincidence…"
"Yes, that's totally crazy. Besides, Quinn left to join her. Beca called right before you arrived. Quinn didn't tell me anything more except that it was urgent, that it was Beca and that she would call me to tell me more."
"Something must has happened to her! I have to go," Chloe said, picking up her things.
The redhead was already thinking the worst. Why of all people would Beca call Quinn? She had to find her as quickly as possible. She put on her jacket and glanced at the badge hanging on the young woman's shirt.
"Thank you very much, Rachel, see you soon."
"Bye!"
Rachel watched her leave, shaking her head, a smile plastered on her face. Love made anyone do anything.
Beca half-heartedly walked up the stairs, her backpack in one hand, and entered her room. Her stuff was in place. Her bed always made. She lay down for a moment. The pillow still had Chloe's perfume on it. Beca remembered the night they spent glued to each other. She thought she was too stupid to blame someone she liked so much. But one last wall held her back. She couldn't let go completely with Chloe. She just had a proof. As soon as she started saying too much, it ended badly.
With a sigh, she got out of bed and went down to the living room. Jessica and Ashley greeted her with one voice. They were busy doing their nails, sitting between the sofa and the coffee table. Cynthia was slumped sideways in an armchair in the corner, reading a manual on warplanes. The house was rather quiet. The brunette warned her friends that she was going out quickly but was coming back for practice and put on her leather jacket on before going out. Quinn was waiting for her at the park.
Quinn opened her bag of dried fruits and handed it to Beca. The brunette took an apricot, thanking her, looking concerned. The wind was blowing a little that October day but the children's games were not completely deserted. Quinn put her bag in a pocket, pulled the sides of her beige trench coat around her and glanced at Beca. She could see that her new friend wasn't easy with words so she decided to start.
"When I was pregnant, I spent my time in parks like this."
Beca raised her gaze to show she was listening. Her eyes showed a semblance of recognition.
"I watched children play and imagined what mine might look like. I saw myself teaching them how to read, showing them how to ride a bike and reassuring them when she fell. But very quickly, reality returned. I was hit in the face when I saw all these mothers with their children. They were twice my age. They knew what they were doing and I didn't. I was already struggling to pay the bills for the first exams..."
"I never imagined myself being a mother. All little girls think about what dress they will wear to their wedding and what they will name their children, but not me."
A gust of wind enveloped them again and the two young women tensed at the feeling of the lower temperatures of the late afternoon.
"I dreamed dozens of times of being able to go back. Undo what happened. But today I know that I would have liked to be that mother. I thought so much about all the things he had done to me that I ended up confusing my child with his father. He was so bad, Quinn, I swear, he was malicious."
The emotion was palpable in Beca's voice. She watched the children play. She wanted so badly to forget everything he had done. Quinn placed her hand gently on Beca's crossed ones as if to tell her she understood.
"I denied the pregnancy until the end. Nobody knew about it and anyway, it wasn't even visible. I gave birth to a little girl almost a year ago. And I come here to see her."
Beca was crying silently now. She took a deep breath and took Quinn's hand in hers. She smiled at her then pointed to a lady with a stroller. The woman was training the child to walk by holding their hands. The baby was doing well. Quinn watched the duo for a moment and noticed the eye shape similar to Beca's and the almost black brown hair. The little girl wore it short for now with little curls at the ends.
Beca cleared her throat and leaned into Quinn as if to tell her a secret.
"Her name is Lucy. I am named after one of my grandmothers, I gave her the other. And also because Lucy means light. I hoped she brought a little more joy to the world around her than I did."
Quinn laughed. They definitely had an impressive number of things in common.
"Do you know that's my middle name?"
Beca nodded, her eyes laughing. But her expression quickly became serious again.
"I am no longer allowed to approach her."
The announcement was clear and definitive. Quinn took a while to find the right reaction to have. She squeezed the hand that was still in hers as if to remind Beca that she was there, that she was ready to listen and that she would not leave. After a clearing of her throat and a sigh, Beca continued.
"I lost control. After giving birth. He learned it. Her father. I still don't know how. My parents maybe since they found out when I gave birth. It was a little hard to hide my hospital stay. I woke up and there he was, sitting in that chair with my daughter in his arms. I have always been more impulsive than violent. Really, it's often a matter of acting without thinking for me. But at that moment, I wanted to kill him. Truly, for everything he had done. And I wanted him to let go of her, not to come near her again."
She sniffed loudly. Her breathing was erratic. Beca was having trouble controlling her emotions.
"He could have stayed away but he came back to hurt me and I couldn't let him hurt Lucy. So when I saw him, I went crazy. I jumped out of bed and attacked him, not considering that he still had Lucy in his arms. The nurses came when they heard all the noise and saw me trying to strangle him. Of course, Lucy wasn't harmed but it was enough for him to file a complaint and win his case. It took him a few months, but he managed to make me look like a crazy person who couldn't handle her child, who wanted to hurt her. He was surely right. At that point, I wasn't ready for her. But I would never have hurt her, Quinn, I swear, she's my little girl."
Beca collapsed into Quinn's arms as the blonde whispered that she understood, that everything was okay. The blonde now understood everything they had in common and why Beca had read her diary. She also realized that Beca had been betrayed so many times and had to strengthen herself to a point where letting someone new into her life meant risking everything falling apart. How similar they were after all. She hugged her even tighter. Quinn knew now that she could help her if Beca would let her.
"I gave Beth up for adoption after I gave birth. And it was Rachel's mother who adopted her."
Beca pulled away in shock after Quinn's revelation. She took a tissue out of her bag and blew her nose loudly. Quinn decided that telling her own story would give Beca confidence.
"Rachel never knew her mother until that moment. She was adopted by two men and her mother was not allowed to approach her on her own. It was their contract. They met again when we were fifteen but Shelby quickly understood that she had wasted too much time with Rachel and preferred to run away so as not to suffer anymore. Rachel is still having trouble dealing with everything related to her mother. This woman left way too much pain behind when she left with my daughter. So imagine how guilty I felt about taking her mother away from the person I loved."
"You did what you thought was right for Beth. You couldn't handle it at that age."
"No, you're right but I didn't think that at all at the time. Shelby returned to live in our town two years later. I hadn't seen Beth since I gave birth and suddenly, Shelby offered me the opportunity to see her, to know her and to teach her things. I lost control too. She's wonderful, Beca, you have no idea. And in my teenage mind, I told myself that I could take care of her because I was her mother. So, one night while I was babysitting Beth, I decided to take away Shelby's rights by hiding false evidence in her apartment. My plan was perfect in my head. I hid evidence, called social services, and had Beth returned to me. But Shelby found out, fortunately. Because I hadn't thought about the consequences. Beth could have ended up in foster care. I was in so much pain that I put myself first, completely forgetting about my daughter. I was selfish and because of that, I wasn't allowed to see her anymore either. After that, I managed to get back on the right path but I was still suffering and I told myself that it was better not to get too close to Rachel to avoid taking her with me in my whirlwind."
Silence fell between the two young women. Beca swallowed everything she had just learned and Quinn watched little Lucy frolicking happily in wise and caring hands.
"At the moment, Rachel and I see Shelby two to three times a year. Beth is doing great. They live in New York. But I don't yet feel completely capable of seeing her constantly and Rachel still has resentment towards her mother."
Beca nodded to show that she heard what was being said to her and was thinking about it without really knowing how to react to it. She turns her gaze towards her daughter who was strapped into the stroller as a sign of departure. Close but so far.
"Lucy's father died this summer. He had custody of Lucy until there. He died in an alcoholic coma. They found him drowned in his own vomit and Lucy was screaming in her bed. Fortunately, they were found the same day. She looks healthy. Maybe there is a God up there after all."
Quinn nodded silently. A tragedy barely avoided. He could rot in hell, that bastard.
"I never told all that. To anyone. Not even to Chloe."
"I don't know Chloe but I think she must be your Rachel. I think you should talk to her. I know it's hard to reveal everything but if she cares about you, she will understand."
Beca squeezes her head.
"I'm not ready to talk to her about Lucy. I can't involve her or everyone in my mess. I might have to leave too. They will all suffer less if they don't know. Because I would like to get Lucy back. I think I can handle her. But I can't ask everyone to accept a baby. It's too much to ask of them."
Quinn took her hands and smiled at her.
"The situation seems complicated but it will get better. I'm sure your friends will be willing to help you. And as for custody, you will get Lucy back. I'm sure, Beca. And if you need help with anything, I'll be here. And Rachel too."
Beca thanked her half-heartedly but kept her thoughtful expression. She wasn't completely convinced and preferred to keep it a secret for a while longer.
"Rachel is going to love all the drama surrounding our meeting" Quinn said, giggling.
"It's true, she seems to love drama" Beca laughs.
"Oh, you can't even imagine. Last time, I came home too late from work and she was waiting for me in the living room with all the lights off. She lit them as I passed by. I almost got a heart attack."
Beca laughed heartily. She imagined the scene worthy of a spy movie.
"All of that scenery to tell me that she had been waiting for me for two hours, that she had already eaten and that my plate was waiting for me in the microwave."
The two young women laughed again. The dark thoughts had receded a little and mood seemed to have returned among the duo. On that note, Beca decided to leave. The girls were going to wait for her for practice if she didn't hurry up. Quinn replied that she better go too before Rachel send an entire elite commando to find her. They parted laughing with the promise of seeing each other again soon. Quinn wanted to meet Chloe after all.
When Beca entered the auditorium, everyone was sitting on the stands talking. Apart from Chloe, the team was complete. The redhead was late again and Beca already knew she was going to have to lead the practice because Chloe was hurt because of her. She plugged in her computer and set up the sound system to begin rehearsals.
The doors slammed behind her and appeared a young Latino woman. Beca had forgotten about this year's recruit. She turned to the team who were already interested in the new Bella and made introductions.
"Let me introduce you to Florencia Fuentes, she is a very good gymnast and a good singer. She will be joining us from now on. So say hello to your new sister and be nice girls. Amy, no weird question."
The blonde saluted with two fingers on her forehead before going to greet her new teammate. Beca returned to her computer and turned on the music to carry them during their warm-up.
"Come on, let's go Bellas! We're running ! 10 mins of running, 5 mins of stretching before starting the chorea. Has anyone seen Chloe?"
They all shook their heads as they passed. Beca tried to call her with no response. With a sigh, she put down her phone and started running. Chloe must arrive eventually.
An hour and a half later, practice was over but Chloe still hadn't appeared. All Beca could think about was going back home to see if she was in her room. Each of the girls had come to ask if she heard of Chloe and of course, Beca didn't know what to say to them except that she had tried to call her dozens of times without success.
Once through the front door, Beca abandoned the girls and her bag in the entrance hall to rush upstairs to Chloe's room. The bed was made, the room tidy. Nothing was missing except Chloe. Beca closed the door but stood there thinking. Where could she be? The university library was closed at that time so she couldn't be there. Last she heard, Chloe never missed a workout. Something had happened to her. Beca was more and more certain of it but didn't dare announce her thoughts to her friends. Saying it out loud would make it true and Beca's blood was already running cold just thinking about everything that could have happened to Chloe.
The brunette came down the steps, looking absent. All the girls were waiting for her instructions at the door, but she didn't know where to start. Maybe one of them knew where Chloe could have gone.
"Has anyone seen Chloe today?" Beca began with both hands on her hips.
"I saw her leave this morning. She was wearing a sports outfit and her usual bag. She also had a sort of diary under her arm." Jessica announced.
"Yes, it's true, we were having breakfast. She stormed into the kitchen saying she was going to see the High Notes to talk to who-knows-who." Ashley continued.
"She took an insulated mug full of coffee and left." Jessica finished.
"I see, a diary, you say?"
Both girls nodded quickly. Beca was starting to have an idea of what Chloe might have done that morning. She fished her phone out of the back pocket of her jeans and opened a chat with Quinn.
Beca to Quinn F. - 06:20 pm
Chloe hasn't come to practice and she's not answering her phone. We saw her with your diary this morning. Did she come to see you?
She placed her phone back in her pocket.
"I think I know where she is but I have to explain it to you for the diary. I'll tell you on the way. We're going to town, come on."
In the minibus, Beca had told her friends the whole story. She had also explained to them why she and Chloe were at odds, emphasizing that she was aware that she was hiding a lot of things from them but that she was going to make efforts soon. With this discussion, the girls arrived in front of Queen's coffee. Stacie double-parked the vehicle and everyone rushed out.
"This way."
Beca led the entire team inside the cafe which was already serving more customers than in the morning. Rachel was busy taking an order so Beca waited off to the side until she was finished to call out to her.
"Beca? What's going on?" Rachel asked, scanning the people around her.
"We're looking for a friend of ours. She was seen with Quinn's diary in her hands so I figured she might have been here." Beca explained.
"Come on, we'll talk in Quinn's office."
The team was led to the back of the building into a small room where a desk and a pile of paperwork were piled up. Rachel sat with one leg on the desk.
"Let me guess, your friend has red hair and sparkling blue eyes?" She asked with a knowing smile.
"Yes, it's her! Ginger Beauty!" Amy exclaimed. Rachel laughed before answering.
"She passed by at the beginning of the afternoon, she was looking for Quinn but she had already left to join you. I told Chloe and she ran off immediately to get to you." Rachel said.
"I see. We haven't seen her since this morning. You were the last person to see her and I..."
Beca's phone rang. Seeing the name displayed on the screen, the brunette's eyes widened. She answered with a trembling hand.
"Hello?"
"Beca! Finally, one of you responds! This is crazy, I tried Stacie and Amy then Ashley and Jessica, no one answered!"
"Hello to you too, Aubrey..." Beca said, rolling her eyes.
The girls shared knowing smiles. They all knew how strained Beca and Aubrey's relationship still was.
"Yes hello. I have bad news. It's Chloe. She's in the hospital, she had an accident."
"What ?! Wait a second, I'll put you on speaker."
"You hear me?"
"Yes!" The group replied.
"Okay, perfect. Chloe is in the hospital, she was in a car accident. I'm on my way to Atlanta, I'll get there as soon as I can. See you later."
"Wait, Aubrey!" Beca called out but the blonde had already hung up.
Beca cursed, putting her phone away only to pick it up again two seconds later because it was ringing again.
"It's Quinn." Beca said to Rachel.
The brunette opened her eyes wide. Quinn must have been home a few hours ago by now. Why would she call Beca instead of Rachel?
"Hello, Quinn?"
"Beca? My name is James, I'm a paramedic. I wanted to warn you that Quinn was involved in a traffic accident on Abernathy Boulevard. But everything is fine with her, just a little smoke in her lungs. She is with me but on oxygen so cannot speak. We are heading to Grady Memorial Hospital."
"Okay" Beca replied, her voice shaking. "We're going to meet her at the hospital. Thanks, James."
And Beca hung up. She raised a very worried look in the direction of her friends. Rachel stepped forward and took her shoulders firmly.
"Tell me she's okay, Beca. Please."
"Yes, yes, she's fine. She was also in an accident. She inhaled smoke so they took her to the hospital."
Beca had a quiver in her voice. She couldn't flinch now. She tried to cling to the facts. Quinn was going to be okay. They had to go see if Chloe was okay. She took the lead and left the room to join the car, her friends following behind. She vaguely heard Rachel explaining the situation to an employee before seeing her get into her car parked further away. They all set off towards the hospital with the darkest thoughts in their mind.
Grady Memorial Hospital was huge. One of the tallest in Atlanta. Obviously, none of them had been there before so Stacie drove the vehicle through several surrounding streets before finding the entrance to the main hospital parking lot. Once parked, the Bellas rushed towards the first entrance of the building. After an interminable wait, the receptionist told them very slowly that they were not in the right service. They went out to enter the building opposite where a queue awaited them at reception. A secretary greeted them without envy and informed them that they had to go to the third floor for the emergency service. Beca was starting to lose her patience with all these medical workers who seemed to be plotting so she would never find Chloe. She found the situation absurd. And who in their right mind would put their emergency room upstairs?
At the ding of the elevator, the girls ejected themselves from the device to finally find the emergency reception. It was written in large letters on the signs attached to the ceiling. They couldn't be wrong anymore. Stacie and Beca went to wait in line in front of the secretary while the others settled in the waiting room.
In line, Stacie was scanning her phone full of unread messages from Aubrey while Beca tried to calm her body which could no longer take all the waiting. She poked her head over the three patients in front of her to see an old lady rummaging through her purse with masterful slowness.
"Dammit" Beca muttered, crossing her arms.
Stacie watched her friend out of the corner of her eye and felt all the anxiety the little brunette was giving off. Beca rarely expressed her feelings but you could read them very well through her gestures.
"It's going to be okay, Becs, I'm sure she'll pull through."
Stacie reached for a hand on her friend's shoulder and was surprised she wasn't rejected outright. Beca gave her a concerned look, her eyebrows were furrowed and she bit her cheek to keep from screaming, probably.
"I hope so, Stace."
Stacie smiled sadly at her. They walked two steps forward and waited in silence. Beca continued to tap her feet impatiently and Stacie thought she was going to have a nervous breakdown if they didn't hear from Chloe soon.
Ten minutes later - or ten years according to Beca - the duo presented themselves in front of the receptionist who sized them up with her eyes as if she didn't want to welcome anyone.
"Hello, we're here for Chloe Beale. B. E. A. L. E." Stacie spelled out without being asked.
The receptionist started typing without saying a word. Beca gripped the wicket with both hands to stop herself from strangling the woman who wasn't going fast enough for her liking. The gesture did not escape Stacie who smirked even though she was not far from doing the same thing either.
"Thoracic surgery" the woman announced loudly in a nasal voice. "You can wait in the hallway."
"Surgery ? To do what ?" Beca asked, leaning down.
"Car accident, thoracic surgery. Corridor, left." The bored woman repeated.
"Which corridor? Can't you speak in full sentences?!" Beca got angry.
Stacie held her back and spoke kindlier to the receptionist to make up for it, even though she found her behavior completely disrespectful and inappropriate.
"Can you tell us which corridor please?"
"This one" The woman indicated, pointing to a corridor behind them. "The doctor will call you when he leaves the operating room."
"Thank you Madam..."
"NEXT!" The receptionist shouted without letting Stacie finish her sentence.
Stacie pulled Beca by the arm.
"That's so nice of you!" Beca said loudly. "What a cowhide, that one!"
The two young women withdrew and went to tell their friends. After a bit of searching and trial and error, the whole team found itself in the corridor waiting for families who had come to see patients undergoing cardio-thoracic operations. Amy, Jessica, Ashley and Flo occupied the available chairs while Cynthia, Lily and Stacie sat against the wall opposite. Beca was pacing back and forth, phone in hand as if someone might call her at any minute to tell her it was all a big joke.
Stacie watched her friend from afar. She decided to send a message to Aubrey asking her to call her when she got to the hospital. With the difficulty they had finding the right place, Stacie figured it would be better to go look for Aubrey in the parking lot. Beca's phone buzzed for a message and everyone's eyes turned to her.
"It's Rachel through Quinn's phone. She's fine. They will be able to go home in a few hours. Rachel thinks Chloe and Quinn were in the same accident. Quinn was several cars behind the ones that collided and it created a large pileup."
"She's out of trouble, that's already good news." Cynthia said.
"Um." Beca shrugged without conviction.
The brunette couldn't wait any longer. She could no longer stand the smell of disinfectant, the faded orange walls, the beeps and the doors slamming every two minutes. Her head shifted to the slightest noise, on the lookout for any news that could arrive in their direction. Her phone showed 8:17 p.m. and Beca felt like it had been that time for at least two hours. Unable to take it any longer, she told herself that moving would surely do her good.
"I'm going to get a coffee." She announced without waiting for a response.
"I'll come with you. Aubrey should arrive soon."
Stacie got up to follow Beca and asked Cynthia to contact her if there was anything new. Beca remained silent the whole way to the coffee machine. She inserted two coins and took a cappuccino without sugar. That was the least disgusting thing sold in these coffee machines.
"I can't wait anymore." Stacie whispered.
"Um, we'll know more when Aubrey will arrive."
Stacie nodded. She agreed but it was starting to take a long time. The more time passed, the more opportunity it left for their minds to imagine the craziest scenario. What if Chloe couldn't walk anymore? What if she couldn't sing anymore? What if she didn't make it at all? No, they had to stay positive, Stacie was convinced of that. She came out of her reverie. Her phone rang in her hand.
"Aubrey's here. I'll go get her." She told Beca.
"Okay. I'm going back upstairs."
The two young women separated. Stacie left towards the parking lot. Beca walked towards the entrance to the hallway and waited until Stacie was through the sliding doors to rush to the bathroom. Inside, she huddled in a cubicle and began to cry violently. She couldn't take any more of this stress, of these unanswered questions. Not to mention everything she had confessed to Quinn. Chloe's accident added to the events linked to her daughter piling up in her head and she believed that at one point everything was going to explode. Aubrey's arrival didn't help the situation. Beca already thought that Chloe wouldn't had been in this accident if they hadn't fought so Aubrey would probably think the same thing and she wouldn't hesitate to let Beca know. The brunette blamed herself terribly. For everything she'd said to Chloe, for everything she hadn't told her yet, and for the accident. It was her fault and if something happened to Chloe, Beca wouldn't recover. So she cried her eyes out for a few minutes.
Once the storm passed, Beca went to rinse her face and headed back to the cardio-thoracic surgery corridor. Everyone was waiting for her, even Aubrey. Beca awkwardly waved.
"Where have you been?" Stacie asked directly, who was worried about not seeing her.
"I took a detour through the bathroom. You have news?"
They all shook their heads sadly. Beca looked at Aubrey. The blonde had messy hair and she was still wearing her new job's uniform. Her arms were circling her torso, as if to comfort herself.
"Aubrey, you may know more than us. All we know is that she's having chest surgery." Stacie began.
"Yes, the paramedics described her condition to me a little before telling me that they would tell Chloe's family more. She must have broken ribs, the paramedic suspected a perforated lung. A broken leg too. He told me that a truck ran a light and hit Chloe head-on so the car flattened on her legs. It was the people around who pulled her out because the truck was catching fire and she was very close.
"Oh God!"
The girls began to whisper. The blonde had tears in her eyes as she recounted her conversation with the paramedic.
"Also, she's going to hate me but I had to call her parents." Aubrey said, clenching her teeth.
"Why would that bother her? It's normal to warn them, right?" Stacie asked.
It's Beca, who hadn't spoken since earlier, who tells them the truth.
"Chloe hasn't spoken to her parents since last summer."
A/N: So what did you think? Suggestions, critics? Why do you think Chloe doesn't talk to her parents anymore?
Anyway, thank you for reading, I hope you liked it.
Take care.
