Here we go with chapter 17th, and I hope everyone is ready. I'm glad to be back on this, especially after watching Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. I really missed this series so much and when I heard they brought back the series to finish with it, I got happy. I read the manga that involved this arc and how so far it looks so good.
I can't wait for part two of this arc will go and how they will finish this. Hell, I hope they end up continuing with the series as time passes on. Thankfully the series got me wanting to continue working on this story. And it also wanted me to finish things off.
Also, to remind everyone who aren't aware of this. The story is set a year after the events of Thousand-Year Blood War and during the Trigon arc of Teen Titans. There will be some mentions of Ichigo, the others, and what happened during the rest of the series. Will they appear?
Maybe they will and maybe they won't. Only time will tell.
So, time for a little recap. Last time, we saw Slade teaming up with more of Trigon's kids. We also saw Isamu wanting to form a relationship with Raven. Will it happen?
Read on to find out and also thanks to my friend General Herbison for his help on my crossovers. We hope you all like them and the new version for this second version. Anyways, let's go with the disclaimer first. I don't own anything from the DC, Bleach, and Star Wars universe.
Just my OCs, except for the OCs from the general. Enjoy the chapter everyone!
Chapter XVII
Jump City
Night has come as the city lights begin turning on. Lighting the way for the people as they go about the night to have a good time. It was Friday after all and the citizens who had finished work for the last five days were now looking forward to going out. To have a good time and relax.
In fact, the Teen Titans were looking forward to having a good time and relaxing tonight. They were all getting things ready for movie night. With a lack of crimes going on for them to deal with, the Titans used this chance to spend some time together and watch some movies. No horror since they didn't want to go to bed with nightmares.
Robin, Starfire, and Hiksri were out on patrol to make sure no crimes or any Hollow attacks happened while they spend time watching the movies. Cyborg and Beast Boy were meanwhile, out getting the movies, while also making sure what they picked was what the others wanted. Isamu and Raven were meanwhile out picking up the pizza. So far, everything was going well and there were no signs of Slade.
So, for the Titans this was good news. This will give them a chance to relax and have a good time.
Robin, Starfire, and Hikari are on top of a rooftop of a large building that overlooks the city. Hikari stood on top of a flagpole, while checking her phone for any Hollow activities. So far, no such activities, which was good. Robin and Starfire were also checking to be sure there were no activities either using their communicator to listen in on the police transmission. Like with Hikari, nothing much is going on.
"Is it just me or have things been getting quiet around the city?" Robin asked as he put the communicator away.
"Isn't that good? Perhaps it seems many of these criminals have learned their lesson and are now looking to better themselves," said Starfire who strongly believes that these bad guys are learning their lesson.
"Or they could be going into hiding," said Hikari as she kept looking at her phone finding no sign of trouble. "Ever since Slade returned, I've noticed many of the superpower villains you've dealt with have disappeared. The same with the Hollow. There used to be plenty of them coming here to try devouring human souls. But ever since you all found out the truth about Raven, they haven't shown up."
Robin knew it couldn't be this couldn't be a coincidence. The villains they've fought must be aware Slade is back, but probably aren't aware of Trigon. However, Slade was someone they feared and didn't try getting in the way. So, that's why they haven't appeared before them.
As for the Hollows, Isamu told them how the Soul Society was aware of Trigon. So, it's possible the Hollows must be aware of Trigon as well. They are hiding in their world. Afraid what will happen if they get in Trigon's way.
Robin knew they would need to speak with the city officials and let them know of the danger. They have been informed Slade is back, but to keep away from him since he's become too dangerous for law enforcement to deal with. He just hopes they'll be able to deal with Slade soon, before he comes back for Raven. And tries forcing her to become the portal.
Hikari puts her phone away and turns to the others. "We'll worry about that later. Right now, we should focus on other things. Perhaps even train you guys to be ready for whatever tricks Slade and Trigon have in store for you guys."
"Train us? Wait. Are you saying, you're going to help us get Soul Reaper powers?" Robin asked, wondering if that was possible.
"No, no, no," Hikari replied while waving her right-hand side to side as she explains herself better. "I'm afraid it's not possible for you guys to become Soul Reapers…" at least, not all of them. "However, we can train you guys and provide you all the tools needed to combat against the supernatural more efficiently."
"That would be very helpful," said Starfire who knew that will give them the edge they'll need.
"Where would you even get the equipment to help us?" Robin asked, wondering where she'd be able to get them what they need.
"Oh, well we have a few friends that can help get us what we need," said Hikari who knew if she asked her master for help, they'll get what they need.
Robin knew this could give them the edge they needed. He won't kill Slade, even if he knows he's dead, he knows he won't be able to do it. However, if the equipment they're given will help neutralize him then that will help. And if they do that, then they can stop Trigon.
"How soon can you call for the tools?" Robin asked.
"I'll put it in right away," said Hikari as she begins texting this to her master. "All right. Now that we got that done, we should get going and…" suddenly she sensed something.
Starfire took notice of Hikari's reaction and knew she was sensing something. "What is it? Is it a Hollow?"
"No, it's something else," said Hikari as she narrowed her eyes. "A dark presence that suddenly appeared in the city."
Robin's communicator begins going off as he sees there's trouble in the city. "There's some sort of riot going on uptown."
"A riot? Why would there be a riot?" Starfire asked.
"I don't know, but we better…wait a minute," Robin suddenly got two more alerts. "There's been an incident in the park. People have been found unconscious and not moving. And there's a pileup close by from here. Could this be Slade?"
"How could it be Slade? These seem to be happening all at once," said Starfire who felt something about this didn't feel right.
Hikari leaped down to join them and began texting her brother. "Isamu and Raven should be close by where the riot is at. Beast Boy and Cyborg should be close by the pileup. We better let them know, while we go help the people."
Robin, though knew something about this didn't feel right and knew this might be bad. "No, Star and I will help with the pileup. You go check with Cyborg and Beast Boy. Have them meet you at the park. I have to assume whatever is going on there they might need some backup."
Hikari understood and soon uses Flash Step to head off to the park. All while contacting her brother. Meanwhile, Robin and Starfire take off down to the city. While contacting their friends and letting them know what's going on.
Meanwhile
Isamu and Raven are in the tower after they had finished buying the pizza. Isamu had set them down on the counter in the kitchen, while Raven was busy getting the paper plates ready. She also had bought plenty of napkins just in case things get messy. Once Isamu is finished, then they'll start making the drinks.
Isamu suggested they make the drinks since he felt it would be better than buying soda. Raven had no problem with this since she normally orders iced tea to drink. As Isamu worked on separating the pizza boxes so the others knew which one to get, Raven couldn't help but turn to Isamu. Staring at him and remembering the words Hikari told her earlier today.
How he feels about her, how he thinks so much about her, and how wants her to be happy. She couldn't help but think about that almost all day. Wanting to give him a chance but was afraid of having her heart broken again like before. So, she kept quiet about this nearly all day long until she could decide what to do.
She soon decided that maybe she'll take the risk. She'll risk opening her heart to someone and see if this can work. Even if it is a risk, she should try. Although, maybe waiting until her father is defeated would be a good chance to wait.
"Hey Raven," Isamu spoke up causing Raven to snap out of her thoughts. "I was wondering. When we defeat your father and things go back to normal, how would you like to come with me to Japan? I can show you around and we can even go visit some of the museums they have there."
Raven was surprised with Isamu's suggestion and how he's inviting her to join him in Japan. "I-I don't know. I mean, that sounds like it would be nice, but I don't know if leaving here would be a good idea. I wouldn't want the others to work on protecting the city on their own, while I'm off on vacation."
Isamu begins chuckling softly and rubs the back of his head. "No, I suppose not. That wouldn't be fair to them. Sorry about that. I just thought you know it would be nice to show you around."
Raven knew Isamu was trying to be nice, but if Hikari is right then she knows he's just trying to get her to like him…and it was working. "But maybe when things have quiet down afterwards, we can go."
Isamu was happy to hear that and knew he probably would need to stick around to make sure things get quiet enough for Raven to go with him. "Sounds like a plan then."
It soon got quiet between the two and Raven decided to try changing the subject since she didn't want to make it too quiet between the two. "Isamu, your sister told me you both didn't live in the city. You in fact lived outside of the city?"
Isamu turns to Raven and nods as he looks down at the table thinking back of the memories he had of his home. "Our parents wanted to raise us somewhere nice and quiet. Away from any of the problems of the city and where we could have some fun."
Isamu begins thinking back of the home and began describing it to Raven. "We lived near a lake close by to Mount Fuji. It was very beautiful. We would go walking around the lake, enjoy how quiet things were, watch the cherry blossoms bloom, and we would even go camping outside our house."
Isamu soon described their house being wooden and two-stories. It was large enough for them to live in, it had a basement where they tell scary stories, and even an indoor pool to swim in if it gets cold outside to swim in the lake. Isamu even talked about how during the winter they would go out into the patio where they had their own fire pit made out of bricks to make smores.
"Once in a while, Hikari and I would return to our home to pay our respects to our parents. They…we lost them when we were little and since then our masters took care of us," said Isamu as he tried ignoring the memory of losing his parents.
Raven couldn't help but smile when Isamu mentioned their home and the good times they had. It sounds like they had a nice childhood. But soon her smile disappeared when he mentioned their parents passing on. To lose their parents at a young age and still turn out to be the way they are…good people with big hearts, it made Raven happy knowing the path they were on was a good one.
"I wish I had memories like that. I didn't get to spend much time with my mother, "said Raven having little good memories with her mother, but she still had ones that made her happy. "Whenever I did spend time with her, it would be when she reads a story to me, and it would when she used to sing me to sleep. Those were the only times I had any interaction with her. I was mostly raised by the monks of Azarath, but they still treated me well. Even taught me all I needed to learn to be ready for the world."
"That's pretty cool," said Isamu who is glad to know that Raven's childhood wasn't bad.
Granted, she didn't get to spend too much time with her mother, but she still had some good memories. So, it wasn't all that bad.
"I take it when you met the others it was pretty easy becoming friends with them," said Isamu.
Raven cleared her throat and rubbed the back of her head. "Actually, the first time I met them was when Starfire crashed into the city and began attacking them."
"Say what now?" Isamu asked who was shocked to find out Starfire attacked the others?
"It's a long story. See…" Raven began explaining what happened when the Titans first met.
From Starfire being sold to an evil alien, to her escaping, crashing into the city, fighting the guys, to Raven appearing to the others to calm the situation down. After that, the aliens arrived, and the Titans came together to stop them to save their home.
"After that, we all decided to stick together and become the Teen Titans," said Raven who knew that day was one of the best days ever for her. Since it was the day she met her friends and found people that accepted her, flaws and all.
"Wow. That's pretty cool," said Isamu who was taken aback by the story and was happy to hear how the others got together. "And surprising to hear how you were so shy around the others back then. I wish I had been there to see you like that."
"Ha, ha, very funny," said Raven who knew over time, her personality changed and became less shy to be around people. "Still, if you were around back then, I wouldn't have been against it."
Isamu gave a small smile and nodded in response, while blushing a little. "M-Me too. Still, I'm glad to be here anyways and to stand by your side."
Raven blushed a little bit with what Isamu said and knew she was happy to have him here too. Since his arrival, she felt herself feeling happier than she ever was before. She loves being with her friends but being with Isamu felt different. It felt like how she felt with Malchior, but she knew he wasn't going to break her heart.
She wanted to believe that maybe this time it could be different. Maybe this time, she could let herself lower her guard and believe she has a future. But then she remembers the prophecy and what she's destined to do. She then also thought about what Isamu said and how he promised to make sure everything would turn out well.
If he's right and she doesn't have to become what her father wants her to be…then maybe she can have a future? If so, then maybe she can finally…suddenly her communicator begins going off, as did Isamu's phone.
Raven looks down at her communicator and sees what it is. "Trouble. There's a fight going on in the city."
"I just got a text from my sister. Looks like we're heading uptown," said Isamu as he took out the Gikongan aka Substitute Soul Pill to separate his soul from his body. Isamu is now in his Soul Reaper form as he got ready to go.
"Stay in the tower and wait for us to come back," said Isamu to his Mod Soul, who nods and runs to Isamu's room. Isamu then turns towards Raven, before cracking his knuckles. "We going to teleport there?"
Raven nods in response. "The others are off taking care of the other problems in the city. I just hope this isn't Slade."
"If it is then we'll be ready for him," said Isamu as he got his sword ready. "Let's go."
Meanwhile
Cyborg and Beast Boy were driving back with the movies they had rented when they got the call of trouble. It seems there was a riot going on uptown, a pileup downtown, and people passing out in the park. They were told the others were taking care of the first two problems. However, since they are close by, they were told to go to the park to find out what is going on.
Hikari will be joining them just in case this is a Hollow or some other form of supernatural activity. However, Robin warned them to be on their guard. Not to lower their guard no matter what. And not to do anything reckless.
Cyborg and Beast Boy enter the park, quietly. Cyborg had his Sonic Cannon ready, while Beast Boy shapeshift into a dog. Sniffing around for any signs of trouble. So far, it was quiet…too quiet.
They headed towards the location where the call was made, while noticing no sign of life on his scanner. "I don't like the look of this," he whispered to his little buddy. "I can't seem to pick up any signs of life. What about you?"
Beast Boy stops and looks up to his friend before shaking his head. Cyborg sighed knowing this isn't good. They continued walking until they arrived to find a phone on the ground. They rush towards it and find no sign of the unconscious bodies they were told about.
"This is definitely not good," said Cyborg who is worried this might actually be a Hollow attack. "Keep your guard up. If a Hollow is behind this, then we have to be ready to move."
Beast Boy nods in agreement until they hear the sound of a girl screaming. They rush towards the source of the scream, which is coming from beyond the trees. They make it to the other side to see the girl they heard screaming lifted off the ground. The girl is lifted by a large heavy paled-skinned man.
The girl's screams are soon silenced as her skin turns pale and she is soon dropped on the ground. Unconscious and her body looking like a prune. Nearby, they see ten other unconscious bodies, which looked like the girl. Beast Boy shapeshifts back to his normal form and Cyborg aims his weapon at the figure.
"I was hoping to be the one to face our dear little sister," spoke the figure as he begins removing his sunglasses. "But I suppose you two will do until I get to meet her."
Cyborg and Beast Boy's eyes widen in shock when they see four red-colored demon eyes staring at them.
"Dude, those eyes. They look like…" Beast Boy knew what those eyes remind him of.
Cyborg nods knowing what they look like. "He mentioned sister. I guess that means this guy is Raven's brother…or probably half-brother."
"Hmm? You don't look surprised or scared," said the heavy demon who was surprised by their response.
"Let's just say we've pissed off Raven enough to recognize those eyes of yours," said Cyborg as he kept his weapon locked on the other. "So, who are you?"
The demon begins chuckling softly as he strokes his chin. "How interesting. So, you two must be the…Teen Titans I've heard so much about, huh? And Raven huh? I suppose she hasn't told you her real name either?"
"If she doesn't want to tell us her real name, that's okay with us. Now answer the question tubby!" Beast Boy shouted as he kept his cool, not wanting to risk attacking just yet.
"Tubby? Why you little…" the demon though stops himself and begins calming down. "That's fine. Make your jokes, little green bean. It will be your last. You two are in the presence of one of my father's deadly sins, Gluttony…or you can call me Jim."
"Jim? Really, dude? Not really an intimidating name," said Beast Boy.
"It's not meant to be intimidating! That's how I was named!" Jim again had to calm himself, but the green one was getting on his nerve. "Anyways, I was hoping to also come across one of these Soul Reapers I was told much about. But I guess I'll have to kill you both before I can get my chance to…"
Before he can say any more, Cyborg fires at him hitting him right in the chest and knocking him into some trees. This caused the trees he broke to come down crashing on him and leaving him trapped.
"Nice shot," said Beast Boy as the two heroes ran over to check on the people. "Are they…you know? Alive?"
Cyborg begins checking the girl and sighed in relief. "She's alive. But her vitals are weak…" he then begins scanning the other people. "The rest of them have the same weak vital signs. What the hell did he do to them?"
Jim's scream of anger can be heard as he breaks free of the trees and his eyes glow red. "You two are going to pay for that! No one makes a fool out of me!"
Cyborg got into a fighting stance and Beast Boy transformed into a rhino. Cyborg knew this wasn't going to end well, but he knew they need to stop this guy and save the people before it's too late.
"Bring it on," said Cyborg as he leaps on Beast Boy's back, and they charge in towards Jim.
Downtown
Robin and Starfire arrived to help the people out of their vehicles after crashing into each other. It wasn't as bad as Robin feared it was, which was good. However, they still called the ambulance to arrive to tend to the injured. While they waited, Robin questioned the drivers wondering what happened.
All while Starfire focused on helping get the people out of the vehicles. Robin was told that the people suddenly felt drained. They didn't feel like driving anymore and began slowing down, which caused the vehicles to crash into them. After the crash, they felt completely fine, but they didn't understand what happened.
This worried Robin and Starfire since they didn't know how this could have happened.
"Do you suppose they were exhausted?" Starfire asked.
Robin shook his head in response. "Some did look tired, but not enough to have them suddenly stop. Something must have caused them to act this way. I just don't know what it is."
The ambulance soon arrived as Robin motioned where to stop. However, he noticed something is wrong when the car didn't stop when he told them to. Starfire goes over and stops the vehicles from moving forward towards the people. Robin goes to the drivers to find out what's going on when he notices them acting strange.
It appears they looked lazy and were leaning back against their seats. Yawning loudly with their foot down on the pedals. Robin pulls out the drivers and stops the vehicles. He begins checking on them and they appear unresponsive to his questioning.
"Are they, all right? What is going on?" Starfire asked wondering what's happening.
"I don't know. They just appear to be acting…lazy?" Robin wonders if this is some sort of spell that is causing them to act this way. "We better contact Raven and see if she can get here to lend us a hand."
"So, Raven isn't here?" Robin and Starfire turn to the source of the voice to find a pale skinny man with long black hair and had sunglasses on. "What a pain. I was hoping she would be here so I wouldn't have to go anywhere else. But I guess you two will do."
Starfire was about to speak with the pale figure, but Robin stopped her when he moved his arm up to block her. "You're the one who did this? I have to assume if you're looking for Raven that means you are working for Slade?" No, Robin knew this one must be working for only one person. "Or is it Trigon?"
The pale-skinned figure sighed softly as he slowly stood up. "So, you know the old man's name? I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, since Raven probably told you," said the figure as he begins removing his sunglasses and reveals his four glowing red eyes.
Robin and Starfire looked on shocked by what they were seeing. Those eyes, they were the same as Raven's when she got angry. Her demon side takes over for a moment and letting loose her anger. But they never thought they would see it with someone else.
"Who are you? And what do you want with Raven?" Starfire asked as her eyes began glowing green as were her hands.
"Who am I? What a pain. I don't like giving my name to people who are going to die," said the pale skinny man as he rubs the back of his head. "However, since that one-eye guy told us about Raven's friends, I guess I can tell you. My name is Sloth, although the name I was given as an alias is Jack, and I'm Raven's stepbrother."
"Stepbrother? That's a lie!" said Starfire. "Raven doesn't have any brothers. She would have told us about that."
"That's because she doesn't know," said Jack as he begins slowly walking towards the two. "And too bad, neither one of you will be alive to tell her this anyways."
Robin got his bo-staff ready for this fight as he got on his guard. "We'll see about that," he then remembered what he said earlier. "This one-eyed guy. Is his name Slade?"
"I guess? But who cares? He's not going to do anything," said Jack as he kept walking towards the two heroes. "I think he's too scared to fight your Soul Reaper friends. Oh well, it doesn't matter. My brothers will probably kill them and then your friends."
Robin should have known what happened was a trap. Divide and conquer. The same trick that Slade used on them with Terra. This time though, they are ready.
"We'll see about that," said Robin as he turns to Starfire who nods knowing what he's thinking. "Let's do this."
Uptown
Raven has seen people fighting each other before when she arrived in this world. People fight each other for power, greed, or just for something stupid. In this city though, she's never seen the people act the way she's seen other people act. The people here act more calmly, don't go on riots because they want to, and fight for power.
Yet here she is, witnessing 20 people fighting against each other. All trying to harm one another and showing so much rage. She didn't understand why this is happening. And why these people, who all appeared normal, would be doing this.
Raven had hope when the police arrived, that they would be able to help her restrain the people. However, they appeared to have become affected by whatever is affecting the people and pulled their guns out. Before they could fire though, Isamu appeared. He had left her for a few minutes, claiming he had something to help them.
He took out a small tube and fires dozens of small green substances to hit the people. This soon caused all of them to get knocked out and fell to the ground. Raven kept them from hitting the ground. She sighed in relief that they were all knocked out and gave them a chance to see what happened.
"Sorry for that. I had to go get something from my bag to help calm the situation down," said Isamu as he shows the item he brought. "It's called Shinten. It's a tranquilizer used to help subdue those with low spiritual pressure. I had brought in to use on any humans who might end up seeing us, Soul Reapers. So, that way we can help knock them out and erase their memory of what happened."
"Erase their memory?" Raven asked who didn't like the sound of that at all.
Isamu could see why Raven seems upset by this, but he reminds her the Soul Society likes to work in the shadows. If people knew there was existence of the afterlife and about the Hollows, it would not go over well.
"Don't worry. We only make sure they don't remember seeing us or the Hollows," Isamu turns towards the people and begins to check on them. "Still, in all my travels, I've never seen people act this way before. What gives?"
"I don't know," said Raven as she uses her powers to try sensing their emotions. "All I can sense from them is their anger and rage. But this doesn't make any sense. The people of this city have never acted like this before, much less shown this kind of level of rage. Someone or something caused them to act this way."
Isamu crossed his arms and knew this had to be something magical or supernatural. "Well, let's see if we can find whoever…" he's soon cut off when he and Raven heard something being lifted.
Isamu turns around and gets hit by a bus. Sending him flying towards a nearby building and crashes into it.
"Isamu!" Raven though didn't have time to check on him as she sensed someone charging at her.
Raven looks over to see a tall muscular figure charging at her. Raven uses her magic to create a barrier, but its shattered by the figure. She's soon grabbed and tossed towards a nearby lamppost, destroying it. Raven groans softly as she tries to get up but the figure charges at her once more.
Raven uses her magic to summon some tendrils and wraps it around the figure. This didn't stop him, but it was enough to slow him down. Raven flew out of the way and the figure charged towards the building. Raven got some distance from him and tried to get to Isamu.
That was until the figure leaps from the ground and tackles Raven down. He slams his hand down on her chest and knocks her to the ground. Knocking the air out of the poor girl as he lifts her by her neck. Raven struggled to speak, but he tightened his grip, preventing her from speaking the words to attack.
Raven looks down at the figure and to her shock, she saw what he looked like. Little bit of black hair, pale skin, muscle shirt, dark pants, no shoes, but what caught her attention was his eyes. His glowing four eyes, which looked a lot like her own. The two soon heard someone clapping nearby and heard another figure show up.
"Now, now, Jared, no need to be so rough with our dear sister," said the figure as he appeared to be wearing a business suit, black smooth hair, pale skin, and the same four glowing eyes. "After all, father does need her."
The figure, now revealed to be Jared, understood, and loosens his grip to allow Raven to speak. Raven begins coughing loudly as she tries to get some air in her, while turning towards this other figure.
"Sorry about that, my dear. But it's hard to calm someone who's the representation of wrath," said the figure as he stood in front of Jared and Raven. "As for me, well, you can tell what sin I represent. But before we continue, allow me to introduce myself. My name is James. And we're so happy to finally meet our dear baby sister."
Raven didn't seem shocked to hear what he said and who they are to her. "S-So it's true then. Trigon did have others before me."
James seems surprised by this revelation, since he didn't think she knew about them. "So, you knew all along?"
"N-No. I just figured," Raven had been told by the monks of Azarath, how Trigon's followers had tried in the past to create the one to be the portal for his arrival, but all were failures. "I just assumed you were all killed when you failed to become the portals."
Jared growls in anger and chokes Raven, but James punches him square in the gut, forcing the big man to drop Raven.
"Ah, ah, ah, Jared. Don't make me repeat myself, got it?" James replied with a stern tone, while his eyes glowed.
Raven used this chance to phase through the ground and appeared across the duo. James clapped at what his sister did, before he continued to speak.
"Nice little trick there. A shame none of us inherited any magical abilities like that from our old man. But you can release Raven. We didn't come here to fight you or try harming you," James soon took out a staff, before extending it to form a cane. "We came here because we wanted to make sure everything goes as schedule. Without any delays from your friends, including the Soul Reapers."
Raven knew it. She knew once her father found out the Soul Society would get involved, he'd try to do whatever it took to get them out of the way. She just didn't expect this at all. She never expected to find out she had siblings, much less see them come here to fight them.
"And why would you do that? Why would you help that monster, especially since you know he doesn't give a damn about you all," said Raven who couldn't believe they'd be willing to fight for Trigon.
"Because unlike you, baby sister. Our father rewards loyalty," James begins to explain. "You see, yes, we were failures, but our father saw potential. He offered us rewards if we made sure to prepare for his arrival. Even get rid of any little obstacles that get in his way. And make sure you do your part in opening the doorway for him."
"I won't do it," said Raven who refuses to become his door.
"I'm afraid you don't have a choice in the matter. It's your destiny, your fate, and nothing can stop it. Not you, your friends, or that stupid Soul Reaper," said James as he turned towards the bus. "It's funny. When we were told how he kicked Slade's ass, we thought he would put up more of a fight than this. It seems perhaps, that father hired a weak, pathetic, and useless human to do the…"
Suddenly the area began to shake. James, Jared, and Raven could sense a strong pressure coming down on them. The air began feeling thin and it felt like they were being crushed by something. Raven looks over to see the bus soon slashed in half, before Isamu begins walking out of the bus.
Raven knew what she was sensing was Isamu's Spiritual Pressure. Isamu had explained to her how when a Soul Reaper releases their spiritual energy, the person can feel it. They can feel themselves being crushed by the energy being released by the Soul Reaper. Isamu didn't release too much though, as to avoid hurting the innocent people.
"I'm sorry, but what were you saying about calling me stupid?" Isamu appeared unfazed by the attack from earlier but looks more annoyed.
"Hmm it seems I was wrong," said James who must admit, he didn't expect this at all. Much less sense the strength he was showing off. "You're a lot stronger than you look, but let's see how you deal with the incarnation of wrath itself."
James stood aside and allowed Jared to attack. Jared lets out a loud roar before he charges at Isamu. Raven was going to get involved, but Isamu motioned for her not to do so. He brings his sword down and waits for Jared to get closer.
Once he was close enough, Isamu punched him square in the face. The attack launches Jared flying past James and through several buildings, taking him out.
This surprised James, who didn't expect this at all. Even Raven looked on surprised by this but was at the same time glad to see the tide of this fight changing.
"It seems you're actually more of a challenge than we thought," said James as he begins to smile, and his eyes begins glowing red. "Good. Perhaps for once, I can finally have a real fight," as he said this, James begins pulling from the top of his cane and reveals a sword hidden within it.
"Want a serious fight huh?" Isamu knew if he took his time with this fight, then the people here would never return to normal. "Fine. You'll get it then," he then begins twirling his sword by its handle. "Let me ask you something, James. What do you know about us Soul Reapers?"
"Other than the fact you all have superhuman abilities and can't be seen by normal people?" James asked before he remembered something else. "Oh, and your swords are supposed to help you kill your enemies. Why?"
Isamu stops spinning his sword and moves it forward. "You're correct on what we use them for, but they aren't weapons. They're called Zanpakutō. When a Soul Reaper awakens their powers, they're given their own Zanpakutō called Asauchi. A nameless Zanpakutō, who a low-level Soul Reaper trains with every day until they can imprint the essence of their soul into it."
Isamu explains that the Asauchi are Zanpakutō that can become anything depending on the Soul Reaper they're paired with. Once their Asauchi is imprinted with the essence of the user's soul, then they will have created their own personalized Zanpakutō.
"That's a nice little story you gave, but I don't really get what the point of all of it is," said James as he points his sword towards Isamu. "So, what you're saying is that sword of yours is supposed to be an extension of yourself? Is that it? If so, am I supposed to be worried? Because it doesn't matter what your sword is called, it won't be enough to defeat me."
Isamu soon begins to smile as he grips his Zanpakutō's handle before he releases some of his Spiritual Pressure. "Well, there's more to it than that. See, we don't just imprint the essence of our soul into out Zanpakutō, they're also give themselves their own name."
"Their own name?" Raven asked as she begins sensing something coming from the sword. Something that made her realize it was more than an ordinary sword.
"That's right. And when a Soul Reaper knows the name of their Zanpakutō, then it can change forms and show off its power. Just like I'm going to do right now. Are you ready?" Isamu asked before he moved his weapon up, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath.
As he did this, James stood on guard. He could sense the boy's power was increasing. Something he didn't expect at all. This boy is different from the ones I've fought against. James thought as he watched the spiritual energy surrounding Isamu.
I've fought against both regular humans and even Meta-Humans before. But this boy…he's different. James thought knowing that as a Soul Reaper, he knew this boy would be different. But since I've never fought a Soul Reaper before, I suppose it's to be expected. I just wonder…how much of my power do I need to release to fight him?
As Isamu kept going, Jared began to reappear. Letting out a loud scream before he begins charging at Isamu. Raven was about to get involved, but then James stopped him. Just in time too, as Isamu opened his eyes and spoke one word.
"Tsuki no byakurō (Lunar White Wolf)," the moment he spoke those words, his sword began to transform. The sword takes on the form of a long blade with a crescent gold moon guard. The color of the blade appears dark as well, while the handle is dark with white stripes around it.
Raven looks surprised with what she just saw. Isamu's sword…his Zanpakutō, it changed form. And his power…it increased. Is this really the power of a Soul Reaper? She thought as she looked on in awe at what she's seeing.
Jared didn't seem impressed, but it's mainly due to his anger and rage towards the Soul Reaper. James, however, was not only impressed, but he began laughing.
His hand gripping his weapon as the son of Trigon looks on with an exciting look on his face. "Finally, a worthy opponent. Let's have some fun, Soul Reaper!"
That's the end of the chapter and it looks like the brothers of Raven have shown up. At least, a few of them. It also looks like our heroes have a lot on their plate. Let's see if they're ready for Raven's demonic brothers.
It also looks like Isamu is showing off more of his power. Also, yes, a Soul Reaper's Zanpakutō are an extension of themselves. Their Zanpakutō have their own personality, they can communicate with their Soul Reaper, and can transform when the user knows their name.
A name that only be known through the Zanpakutō themselves. In the case of Ichigo in the series, he was able to learn the name during his training to regain his powers. However, some like Kenpachi Zaraki took time to finally learn their Zanpakutō's names. This is because if the Soul Reaper and Zanpakutō are not a unit, then the user won't know their sword's name.
Preventing them from tapping into the power of their Zanpakutō. Preventing them from unlocking their full potential and allowing them to get their asses kicked. There are also two forms of a Zanpakutō. This one with Isamu calling on his Zanpakutō's name is called Shikai, the first release.
There's another, but I'll explain it when we get to it. For now, though? How are things going to go for our heroes? Will they be able to handle Raven's brothers or will they run into some trouble?
