Welcome one and all to the final update of 2023, the New Year's Special! I'll say it, this has been a fairly tough year, and not just because of things happening in my personal life. But all things must come to an end, so let's send 2023 out with a bang the usual way. This is Part I. Last time, when this story debuted, Malefor somehow found his way to the contained Anti-Monitor and managed to absorb his powers as well as the whole of the Dark Multiverse he was stuck in before vanishing to his own world. But just as he did, the mysterious narrator revealed he knows just who to turn to in order to stop Malefor. But who will he call on? Read on to discover...

(Our scene resumes not in the void that was the so called Dark Multiverse, but instead on Earth Prime, specifically on the streets of Central City, which are being crisscrossed by a bolt of yellow light dashing around the city)

Flash: (In his head) My name is Barry Allen, and I am the fastest man alive. Ever since the Crisis, things just haven't been the same. The loss of my dear friend, Oliver Queen, has hit the entire hero community hard. And now with all our Earths merged into one world, there's just more questions than answers anymore. But that's why we all came together to form the League. A means to bring all the heroes of this new Earth together.

(As he runs along, Flash spies something overhead, a giant violet hole in the sky with two figures falling out of it alongside a bunch of rubble)

Flash: (In his head) And if that's as bad as it could be, we couldn't have picked a better time to come together.

(With no hesitation in his super speed step, Flash rushes towards the scene, saving civilians from the rubble falling out of the sky. And now he sees the figures falling from the sky a lot closer up, and he actually starts rubbing his eyes to make sure he's not going crazy at the sight. But regardless of that, Flash rushes towards where the figures he sees are going to land and starts running up the rubble to catch them just as they're about to hit the ground, as the violet hole in the sky closes up. Flash sets the two of them down and starts catching the last bits of debris and rubble falling through the air, but then he catches the last piece, and it actually burns his skin.)

Flash: (Seeing the strange piece of debris, and the damage it did to his suit) Well that's new.

(And now we see what the piece of debris is. It's a Dark Gem fragment, straight from one of Malefor's Grublin Hordes. As Flash surveys the scene, he looks back towards the figures he caught, and now we see them fully: a pair of dragons, one violet and one ebony. It's Spyro and Cynder, beaten, bruised, and barely holding on)

Flash: Are you two okay?

(Spyro and Cynder can't even respond coherently from their injuries at this point.)

Flash: You two look to be in a pretty bad way. (Picks them both up and slings them over his back) I've got some friends who should be able to help you out. (Eyes the Dark Gem fragment and tries to pick it up again, but this time it doesn't burn him) And we best get this into containment, before it creates any new metas.

(With his cargo of injured parties and strange gems in tow, Flash takes off heading straight for the one place he knows he can get help: STAR Labs' old particle accelerator facility, better known as The Pipeline, as our tale ends for today)

This concludes Part I of the New Year's Special. For Part II, head on over to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Admittedly not much here, just introducing Barry Allen, the Flash, to our story, as well as seeing Spyro and Cynder enter the tale, as well as answer who our mysterious narrator thinks can solve this mess. And from the looks of things, they're not doing too well. What sort of enemy could have left them in such a state as this? I'm thinking you all know the answer, but we'll give you the answer next time anyways. So be sure to tune in for that! Same time... same channel!
