Private Drive, Surrey, 30th June 1991, Durleys House 10:00 a.m.
"How do you do, Harry?" Albus tried to ask smiling
"Harrison" "Excuse me?" Albus looked shocked at the hostility in his voice
"My name, it's Harrison not Harry." Albus nodded thoughtfully. "I came from a school in Scotland : Hogwarts. I'm the headmaster, there." Albus tried to ignore the unsettling feeling he was having.
"I never heard, this name Hogwarts, is it?" Harry frowned a bit
"Hogwarts is a school. A school of magic. A school your parents attended and admitted you after your birth. You can do things can't you, Harry…. Harrison? That other children can't." Albus looked at the thoughtful child. Albus winced, a little, the boy's eyes again became cold and staring at his eyes directly like, promising pain if he's being lied to.
"You mean that, it's magic, what I do?" Harry wondered. "Yes, Harry." said Dumbledore seriously, "And what is it you can do?" "I can make things move without touching them. I can make animals do what I want without training them. I can make bad things happen to Dudley and his friends. I can make people hurt, if I want… I can grow my hair and also I can change people's hair colour." Harry said with eagerness in his voice.
Albus was shocked. A chill ran down his spine. He felt like déjà vu. Fifty years ago, a boy his age had said the same. Those same words. Suddenly, Harry became cold, again. "Prove it." "Huh?" "Magic, prove that you're not lying." Harry dangerously narrowed his eyes.
Dumbledore nodded and took out his wand. Harry watched with his greedy eyes, a general curiosity in his eyes, as Albus made a book fly.
"I knew it." Harry said with a glee
"What you knew, Harrison?" Albus asked warily
"I knew, that I am different. Not a freak, like everyone told me. Yes, I knew Christ made me special. Uncle Vernon used to say that I wasn't normal, that if I go to church, they will burn me for I wasn't normal. But I knew he was lying, I just know that when someone lies to me. Don't know how? He paid the price though, uncle Vernon, he couldn't prove it was me. " Albus looked as Harry's eyes turned greedy at the sight of the wand.
"Violence is not allowed in Hogwarts, Harrison. You'll be taught not only how to do magic but also how to control it. Magic shall never be misused, not everyone gets this gift and what you have been doing shall not be done, again." Dumbledore told sternly
"I …. understand Headmaster. So, how to go for this ….. magical school?" Harry smiled meekly.
"According to the new guidelines, on 31st of August, you'll have to board the train to Hogwarts from King Cross Station. Your train will arrive on the morning of 31st August at Platform 9. The train will leave for Hogwarts at sharp 11 a.m. from the station. Then as a 1st year, you'll be carried to the school by a boat which will be supervised by our school's groundskeeper Hagrid. Then you'll be sorted into one of the four houses where you'll be staying in with your friends for the next 7 years. You can buy 'Hogwarts: A History' it can be helpful to understand about the houses and the functioning of the school.' Albus looked at the thoughtful face of Harry
"This 'Hogwarts: A History', is it compulsory to buy?"
"No, of course not. Most of the students are raised in the wizarding world, so they have a bit idea, though we highly recommend muggle-borns and muggle raised half-bloods to have a better understanding. Why, I believe your mother loved to read this book, even in her seventh year she bought a new edition of the book." Albus told him smiling as he remembered the fiery red-head girl.
"You know my mother?" Harry asked with surprise written in his face. "Don't you? Your aunt, didn't she told you about your parents, anything like how they looked like or their pictures?" Albus asked stunned at this new information. "My parents were a topic, my aunt never responded me too. I just know that they died in a car crash and I got this scar on my forehead. But now, I am confused, if they were magical then how could they die in a mere car accident?" Harry's question gave shock to Albus. Albus had clearly written to Petunia telling the truth about James and Lily's death and a car accident? Albus sighed. He should have listened to Minerva.
"Harrison, your parents were great wizards. They fought with a terrorist named Voldemort. They fought for you to grow up in a safe world. They fought so that you don't have to grow up in fear. They were killed, Harrison. Killed by Voldemort because they were trying to save you." Albus said softly. He wasn't going to repeat what happened with Tom. He hided Tom's identity, tried to suppress Tom and the world got a Dark Lord. He won't do the same with Harry.
"Where is this Voldemort?" Harry asked getting angry, which Albus noticed.
"He is dead. The night, he killed your parents, something happened, no one knew what? But it happened, he tried to kill you. No one Harry, no one remained alive, when he decided to kill someone, except you. He tried to kill you but it was reflected back to him and he died. This is a dark curse, your scar, it is a evidence of what transpired that night. I noticed that it has reduced, from what I remember, it had ten years back." Albus told him softly
"Sometimes, I see green light flashing, a woman screaming not to kill me. Was that woman my mother?" Harry asked. "Yes, she was your mother. And the green light was that curse with which Voldemort killed your parents. But what you must remember is that your parents loved you. They loved you so much that they sacrificed their lives for you." Albus looked at Harry him sadly
"Where may I get my supplies, Headmaster?" Harry asked composing himself
"Muggle raised half-bloods and muggle-borns are introduced to the wizarding world by the deputy headmaster/headmistress, so the first years usually go to get the supply with them. Though as your aunt already knows about wizards and witches, so if you want, you can come with me or your aunt can take you." Albus looked as again Harry got lost in his thoughts
"Aunt, I believe aunt will take me. You don't need to worry headmaster. I won't have any problem searching for the place." Harry nodded.
"Ohk, you have to go to the London street, through which you can go to the Leaky Cauldron. There you will meet the bartender Tom who will give you the access to Diagon Alley. First, you need to go to Gringotts to withdraw your money and then you can shop the items that are on your school list." Dumbledore smiled as Harry listen attentively. "Is it necessary to go to Gringotts to withdraw money? Uncle Vernon also has money, why can't we shop with his money?" Harry asked with curiosity
"Because muggle money doesn't run in the wizarding world. We wizards have our own different currencies. And your parents have already deposited money in your Gringotts' account." Albus smiled. "Like a bank?" Albus nodded. "And how will I know about my account number?" "There is no account number in Gringotts. There is a key which is provided to the account holder." Albus informed him. "Where is the key?" Harry frowned.
"Harry …. Harrison, the key is with the Goblins, although it is your parents who should have provided you but as they are not with us. After your parents death, the Goblins took your family vaults, your parents and your key. So, you'll be receiving the key from them only." Albus informed him and then he gave Harry his acceptance letter and stood to go
"Now, I shall leave. It is a bit late. See you in Hogwarts, Harry Potter." Albus smiled
"Sorry, I was confused and was intrigued by this wizarding world." Harry said sheepishly
"Not a problem, my boy. Most of the muggle-borns and muggle raised half-bloods and their families ask these questions. It is very natural. That's why we always take a whole day to explain them about our world and we also provide them the knowledge so that they don't get confused. Now, I shall see you in Hogwarts." Albus turned to go when he stopped listening Harry's question
"I can talk to snakes too" Dumbledore looked pale "They find me, protect me…. Tell me things, which no one wants me to know…. I found out five years ago, when Dudley pushed me near a snake…. Is this normal? Does other wizards, you know, they can also talk to snakes, isn't it?"
Albus thought, if he should answer this after sometime debating about the pros and cons and searching Harry's face, for any reaction with his eyes. "It is a very rare gift Harrison. Not all wizards can speak with snakes, though I would advise you not to advertise this, it can land you in problem. Okay?" Harry nodded. Albus apparated from there. If he stayed for some more time, he would have noticed an unnatural smile appearing on Harry's face. Slowly, he opened the acceptance letter.
