Pranked
1st of April, 1995.
A few days after the interview had been published it was Fred and George's birthday. They were finally turning seventeen. Harry had done his best to get both of them things they wouldn't find anywhere else. He had also received a package from Sirius earlier that week. He had checked it out and decided that he wanted the twins to have it so he had wrapped it up as a birthday gift from the Marauders. He had also managed to enchant despite not having an Arcane Enchanter.
Harry made his way up to the sixth-year boy's dorm early that morning. He walked into the room without making a sound. He smirked. The pranksters didn't expect to be pranked themselves. 'Oh, that's a mistake,' he thought. He knew there was a big chance that they would plot horrible revenge on him, but he'd survive that. It would be worth it. He placed their gifts down by their feet and left the gift from Padfoot and Moody hanging in mid-air between their beds. He hummed softly as he made his way back down the stairs. He was going to take his daily run.
The weather was slowly warming. The sky promised a sunny day. Harry ran deep into the forest. He usually didn't go that far, but it was Saturday. He had nowhere he had to be even though he had an entire birthday surprise set up for the twins. They wouldn't wake up for quite some time yet. He turned invisible so he wouldn't have to deal with the centaurs.
Harry slowed down as he heard a rustle in the bushes ahead of him. He activated his detect life spell and a greenish aura showed up. It meant that the being in front of him was an animal. He had gotten tired of animals showing up as enemies so he had fixed it. He moved forward slowly. His eyes widened as he laid eyes on a small wolf cub. It had gotten stuck in some kind of net. He turned visible. "Shhhh, I'm not going to hurt you," he said softly. He reached out with a calming spell in his hands so he could help the little one. "There you go," he said.
Harry lifted his head as a growl reached his ears. The bitch was beautiful, her fur sleek and dark grey. Her amber eyes were intelligent. "I'm not here to hurt anyone," Harry said calmly. He moved his hands away from the cub. The little one ran back to his mother happily. She lowered her head and sniffed him. Her eyes turned back to Harry. He stood up slowly and backed off. He hadn't known there were wolves in the forest. They hadn't looked like wolves though. 'Maybe that is true,' he thought. He'd read that werewolves mating during a full moon would result in wolf cubs with almost human intelligence. There were rumours that such wolves lived in the forest. He hadn't thought it was true though.
Harry started making his way back to the school after the wolfs had run off. The common room was lively when he entered.
"Harry James Potter we will get you for this." "You will never feel safe again."
Harry smiled at the Weasley twins. "But you look like such lovely ladies," he said. He walked up to them and wrapped his arms around their waists. "It only holds for twelve hours you don't have to look so worried. Here let me help you with that mess of a hair of yours." He led them over to a sofa and sat them down before summoning a comb. He sat down on the back of the sofa behind George. The comb moved through the orange locks smoothly. Blue eyes closed as Harry started pinning the locks up.
"Is it really that nice?" Fred asked her twin.
"Mmmhhmm," George hummed.
Harry smiled as he moved over to the older twin. He was going to put their hair up in two different ways. He didn't want to have to be confused about who was who all day.
"You're evil," Fred whispered. "First you make us look like girls and then you take care of us, that's just not fair."
"Did you really think I'd abandon you?" Harry asked. He placed his hands on Fred's shoulders when he was done. "I need a shower. Then I'll be right back," he said. He headed up and got into the shower. The hot water felt good. As he exited, he almost walked straight into Fred and George.
"We have decided that we won't retaliate if you do this for today too," Fred said.
"Promise," Harry said.
"Promise," they repeated.
Harry walked out to the dorm. "Sure I can do that," he said. He walked over to his nightstand and pulled a vial out. He had counted on something like this so he had tested it. With his glamour, he didn't change properly. His potion was laced with a de-ageing potion. He knew it would work since he had tested it already. He let go of the towel as he drank the potion and dropped the glamour.
"Oh, Merlin that's not fair," George breathed. "You look amazing."
Harry raised an eyebrow. She walked back into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Her hair reached below her shoulder blades. She looked more like her mother that was for certain. She looked pretty good. "I have some clothes that will fit us better," she said as she walked back out to the dorm. She brought out three sets of clothes and gave one each to Fred and George.
They changed and fixed their clothes.
"Yeah, we look great," Fred said. "Let's just rock this for today," George said. "Your hair should be red too, Harry," Fred said.
Harry shrugged. She walked over to a mirror and cast a colour-changing charm at her hair so it turned Weasley red. Then they headed down into the common room.
Lee whistled. "Look at you," he said.
"Awesome I have sisters," Ginny said. She walked up to them and Harry fixed her hair and polished her nails to match them. "There you go sis," she said.
Ginny took Harry's hand and the four of them headed down to the great hall.
"Thank you for these by the way," George said as he reached up to touch the flour leaf clover necklace he was wearing.
Harry had made them necklaces to protect them while they were creating. It held three gems. A garnet that held an enchantment that would clean the air for them. A moonstone that would help enhance their potions and a diamond to protect them from explosions. The last clove would later have their Marauder names engraved on it.
"I thought you could do with something that would constantly protect you from breathing in poisonous fumes and explosions. How many times have we needed to use the bubble-head charm in the past month alone?" Harry said.
Fred chuckled. "A lot," he said.
They sat down by the table. Lee was joking around a lot. Ginny was having a blast. Then Ron arrived. He looked at his brothers and Harry, and he didn't know what to do. His confused expression would fuel Fred and George for days. He looked so lost. The way the twins were acting didn't help at all.
Harry smiled as Ron finally sat down. "You did this to them?" he asked.
"I did," Harry said. "I thought it would be a great prank."
"Who are you?" Ron asked.
Ginny started laughing so hard that she almost fell off the bench. She banged her fist against the table and chipped for air. "Oh," she said as she laughed. "It's… it's Harry."
"Harry?" Ron gave the red-haired woman in front of him a strange look. "You're bonkers, mate."
"I know," Harry said as she flipped her hair behind her shoulder. She laughed and grabbed Fred from his seat and the three of them headed back up to the common room. Harry ran up to her room and fetched the Map. She handed it to George. "Picnic right?" she asked.
"Sure," Fred said.
"I'll see you there, look for Angelina," Harry said before disappearing down to the kitchens. She had asked very nicely if she could please get to do the twin's birthday cake while the elves made the food.
Angelina, Alicia and Katie were in charge of the games. They had planned this behind the twins' backs for weeks now. Including the prank.
Harry baked each layer of the cake and filled the space between them with pear and banana cream and chocolate mousse. She rolled out marzipan and laid it on top and then she started working on the decorations. The whole cake looked like one of the twins' workbenches while they were making some new prank potion. There was a cauldron and then there were several fun prank candies in little piles, even a few that the twins hadn't shown anyone else yet. A chocolate ladle sat in the cauldron. It almost looked like it bubbled. Harry was very pleased with herself.
"Winky takes care of the rest now, Master Harry," Winky said.
Harry offered her a bright smile. "Thank you Winky," she said. She cleaned up and headed back up to the entrance hall. She headed for the great doors. She could hear voices on the other side, but she didn't feel like eavesdropping so she just pushed the doors open and stepped outside. It was Igor Karkaroff and Severus Snape that stood on the other side of the door.
"Good morning Professor," Harry said happily. "Headmaster." She bowed her head to Karkaroff. Severus cast a glance at the student that had interrupted them. Her hair was Weasley-red but it wasn't Ginevra. He had heard the rumour that the twins had been turned into girls for the day. It served them right to be hit with some of their own medicine. The girl looked up at him with bright green eyes. When not hidden behind those thick round glasses, it showed so much clearer that Harry had his mother's eyes. Their eye contact only lasted a single moment, but Severus wouldn't forget it and Harry smiled. Not a mischievous smile. A real happy smile, like his mother's.
"Have a good day Professor Snape," Harry called as she bounced off. She had noticed the look in Severus' eyes. It would seem that Moody might have been right. Severus might care quite a lot for her late mother. It made Harry a little uneasy to do what she had planned on doing, but since it would only happen if Severus tried to invade her mind she didn't feel that bad.
"Good thing you are here Harry," Angelina said. "We are ready to get started."
Fred walked up to Harry and pushed her over to a guy that stood with his back to them speaking to Katie. "You can team up with him," she said.
"Charades is first up," Angelina said as she walked up to her boyfriend slash girlfriend.
The man had turned around as Fred gave that last push and he caught Harry. Harry looked up into his face. "Oliver!" she exclaimed.
Oliver moved his hands from Harry's waist to her shoulders. "Now what has happened here?" he asked. "I'm fairly certain that I had a mixed-gender team last year. Now everyone seems to be girls."
"It's Harry's fault. She did this to us," Fred said. "Thought it would be a grand prank."
"Then how did he turn out like this?" Oliver asked.
"They threatened me," Harry said while pouting at Oliver. "They said they would prank me forever if I didn't take the potion too."
"I have no idea if I should feel bad for you or not," Oliver said while chuckling. "Though I guess it is good on you for actually hitting them with a prank. We tried many times and failed."
"I'm just more resourceful," Harry said proudly.
"I guess so," Oliver said as he sat down then he grabbed Harry's hand and pulled her down into his lap. Harry couldn't help the blush. It was probably the surprise of it, but it wasn't like she minded the placement. Oliver was nice when he wasn't a drill sergeant and she trusted him.
Fred raised an eyebrow as he saw them. He elbowed his sister and pointed over to them.
"Oh, that's just so cute," George said.
Green eyes flashed in his direction. "You watch it Georgina or I will make this permanent," Harry threatened.
"You wouldn't dare Heather," George retaliated.
"Oh, wouldn't I," Harry said. She tried to get up from Oliver's lap, but he wouldn't let her. "Meanie," she said.
"It's their birthday," Oliver said. He leaned forward and rested his chin on her head. "Be nice."
Harry sighed and leaned back. It was actually kind of nice to just sit there. She chuckled as the charades started. Oliver helped her up when it was her turn and he held out a hand for her when she was done. "You are just a big teddy aren't you?" Harry asked as she sat back down.
"Hmmm, figured that out after I left school. My girlfriend appreciates it," Oliver said.
"I can imagine that," Harry said.
"I do not recall you enjoying cuddles either," Oliver said.
"Did anyone ever check?" Harry asked.
"You usually moved away from contact," Oliver pointed out.
"I had my reasons," Harry said. "But that doesn't matter anymore." She laughed as Fred did her best to imitate a running faucet.
After charades, it was time for magical Uno, a game where certain cards would throw out magic effects at the players. They sat in a circle with knees touching and played on the blanket in the centre so when someone was hit with magic it often affected the two people sitting right next to them too. Harry fell into Oliver's lap laughing as she was hit with a tickling spell. She could hear the camera go off and see the flash. "Those better just be for us," she managed to get out between breaths.
"Of course, they are just for us, Heather," Fred said.
"Uno!" Alicia called as she dropped her second to last card.
"What do you think she has?" Katie asked.
"Green," Harry said.
"Make it red, make it red," George chanted.
"Uno!" Harry called.
"Oh, no you don't," Angelina said.
"Angie why?"
"Because," Angelina said.
"Uno!"
The game went on for almost two hours before Katie finally managed to win. "Twister," she said.
Harry laughed. When the girls had wanted to be in charge of games, she hadn't expected this. Now, did she show them what she could do, or did she fake it? Harry sighed. She might as well just play.
"How are you doing that Harry?" George asked. He was standing next to the board where Harry was standing in a bridge with one leg almost under herself.
"Left hand to yellow," Angelina called out, and Oliver bumped into Harry as he moved.
"Sorry," he said.
"No problem," Harry said as she moved.
"Call out two," Alicia said.
"Left leg to red and right leg to green," Angelina called out.
"How are you going to do that Harry?" George asked as Fred collapsed and got off the board.
"Like this," Harry said as she lifted herself up on her hands and lowered herself back down almost in a split.
"What have you done with Harry, Heather?" Fred asked. "That just isn't possible," George added.
"Sure it is," Harry said.
"Right had on green," Angelina called out and Oliver collapsed.
Harry moved and stayed standing.
"I guess you win Harry," Fred said. He smirked mischievously as he rushed forward and picked Harry up.
"Let me down," Harry said.
"I don't think so," Fred said. "I think you can stay there."
Harry stopped struggling. She didn't want to hurt him, and she knew he wouldn't do anything too bad to her. She was dropped back in Oliver's lap just in time for lunch.
They are a lovely picnic and then it was time for Spin the Bottle: truth or dare?
This was going to be a tricky one for Harry since she didn't want to lie, but she didn't necessarily want all of them to know all the grimy details of the truth either. Thankfully most of the questions were not going to reveal much.
Oliver looked at the questions and then at Harry. "Are you guys sure?" he asked.
"Oh, Oliver, so innocent and naïve," George said. "You have no idea how fun this will be," Fred said.
"Don't worry Oliver," Harry said. "I'll be fine. I hope your girlfriend is okay with this though."
"Oh, it's fine Harry," Alicia said. She smirked. "I want to see what happens."
Harry laughed. She had been one of the people that kept pushing her into Oliver's lap so she guessed that was fine with her then. They sat down and Fred spun the bottle.
"Which Professor have you had a crush on?" Angelina asked. "They must have worked here while you attended."
"I do fancy Professor Vector. I mean who wouldn't," Fred said.
No one disagreed.
George spun the bottle. Around and around it went.
"Eat something random," Angelina said. She smirked. "Close your eyes."
George closed his eyes and Angelina called for Winky. She had asked Winky to prepare several random weird foods for this. Like sushi rolls with chocolate sauce.
George gagged at the taste but he ate it. "That was awful," he said.
Then it was the next person's turn. They went around the circle. Harry's first one was rather tame since all she had to do was pretend she didn't speak English. She just switched to Tamrielic until her next turn.
Lee ended up having to give George a massage.
"French kiss the person to your left," Alicia read as the bottle Harry had spun landed. Harry raised an eyebrow.
"Go ahead," Alice said.
"Do I get a say in this?" Oliver asked. Harry was under legal age. He wasn't sure that was a good idea.
"It's just a kiss Oliver, and it isn't like Harry is arguing against it," Alicia said.
Oliver shook his head and Harry smirked as she moved over to him and kissed him. She could hear the cat calls and the whistles.
Oliver looked a little dumbstruck when Harry sat back down. "Where did you learn to kiss like that?" he asked.
"Harry has been spending like forever with Fleur Delacour, the French champion, this year," Fred said.
"She's a good kisser," Harry said. "But she isn't my first kiss."
"Ooooooh."
No more questions were asked at the time and the game quickly proceeded.
"Do your best professor impression, Angelina," Alicia said as she read the slot Angelina's bottle had landed on.
Angelina sighed before she straightened up and did her best McGonagall impression.
Everyone laughed and they went on.
"Become a slave to a player of your choosing, Fred."
Fred sighed. She walked over to Harry and sat down with her. "Please be kind to me Master," she said.
Harry smirked. She reached out and it looked like Fred's clothes changed to be a tad bit more revealing and she added a good deal of leather. It was just an illusion, but it looked real to everyone else. "Be a good pet now Freddie," she said.
Lee hid his face in his hands. "I can't watch this," he said as Harry started ordering Fred around.
Harry's expression never changed from the calm displeasure it had taken on. It didn't matter what Fred said or did.
"Time's up," Angelina said after about five minutes. The game had continued as Fred had been fulfilling her Master's wishes. It was back to Harry again. She spun the bottle.
"How many people have you had sex with?" Angelina asked.
Harry gave her a levelled look. They probably wouldn't believe him if he said the real number, but they also had no way of finding out who the people he had slept with were. "Six," she answered.
"What!?" Lee exclaimed. "You're fourteen!"
Harry shrugged. He wasn't about to explain to Lee how come he had slept with six different people. It wasn't Lee's business.
They went a few more rounds and then they took the board away.
Harry was smiling. She loved this. It was just a great day with friends and they were having fun. They played several more games before dinner and then it was time for the cake.
"Master Harry made it," Winky said as she placed the cake down.
"This looks amazing," Fred said. "Looks like it could blow at any moment," George said. "I guess we better dig in before that happens." "I think we better." The twins cut into the cake and got one big piece each before everyone else was handed a piece by Winky.
"This is really good," Lee said between bites.
"Thank you," Harry said. She checked the time. "You guys should get changed into more comfortable clothes. You'll be changing back soon," she told the twins.
"Come you can change too," Fred said as he pulled Harry along.
"If you say so," Harry said. When they got back Harry had her guitar with her and she sat down and started playing. She had turned her hair back to black and her green eyes gleamed in the light from the enchanted candles that Angelina had summoned.
"I didn't know you played the guitar, Harry," Oliver said.
"There is much we don't know about Harry," Fred said. "We've only scratched the surface," George added.
"This is your birthday, stay on track," Harry warned.
"No, Oliver should know that his Seeker was perfect because he was starved at home, Harry," Fred said.
Oliver met Harry's eyes. "Is that true?" he asked.
Harry nodded slowly. "I try not to lie to Fred and George," he said. "They starved me and my bedroom was the boot cupboard under the stairs until I got my Hogwarts letter. Now they just lock all my things up down there when I come back for the summer." He shrugged. "It doesn't matter," he said. "I'm not going back. I'm staying with Fleur this summer and I'll figure something out for the summer after that." He stopped playing. "Can we not talk about this? I have it under control," he said.
"You want us to turn a blind eye to the fact that you have been abused all your life?" Oliver asked. "I don't think so."
Harry sighed. He looked at Fred and George. "Did you have to?" he asked. "I'm not having this argument. I'm not going back to them, that will just have to be good enough for you."
"Come on guys," Angelina said. "Leave Harry alone. If he says he can handle it, then he can handle it," she said.
"Thanks, Angie," Harry said.
"You better let us know the moment you could use our help, though," Angelina said.
Harry smiled. "Will do," he said.
Alicia sat down in Oliver's lap and glared at him. "Leave it be," she said. "We'll keep an eye on him."
Oliver sighed. "Okay fine," he said.
Harry started playing the guitar again. He liked the team. At least they listened to each other. Someday, before the world knew, he would just tell them all.
