The Weasley Brothers

13th of August, 1995.

Fleur was rushing around the house nervously. Bill was coming today and she was all over the place. Winky had cleaned the house from top to bottom the day before. She loved it. Now she was taking care of the garden and Kato had even heard her singing as she worked. He was pretty sure she was happy.

"Are we picking him up?" Kato called.

"Oui!" Fleur called back.

"When are we picking him up or do you want to go alone?" Kato called. They really should have talked about that earlier. Kato knew it might get awkward if he was there. He was glad he had quite a lot of things to do that would take him out of the house or keep him in his room. He knew that Fleur wanted him and Bill to get to know each other too, but they needed time alone.

"You might as well come just so he knows you are here. We aren't doing anything special today," Fleur said.

Kato sighed. "That just means I'll leave the two of you to yourselves as soon as we get home. I'll explain things to Bill," he said. "Are you done yet?"

"Oh, I don't know," Fleur said. She came walking down the hall and Kato smiled. "You look fantastic," he said.

"You think so?" Fleur asked as she twirled.

"Oui," Kato said. "You are lovely."

They headed to Gringotts to meet Bill. At least Fleur had told Bill that Kato would be there. He hung back as Fleur walked up to Bill. He wanted to give them a semblance of privacy at least.

"So you are Kato?" Bill said as he and Fleur came walking up to Kato. They shook hands.

"I am Kato, yes," Kato said in English considering that Bill did not speak French as far as he knew.

"It's nice to finally have a face with the name," Bill said. "I have heard quite a bit about you at work too…" He still wasn't sure if this was the same person, but with a name like Kato Peverell, he assumed this was the same guy.

"I'm part of Clan Alfknif so I can imagine my clan mates talking about me," Kato said.

"I haven't heard of many humans being allowed to be part of the clans," Bill said. "You must have impressed them."

Kato chuckled. "Yes, well. I gave them something they couldn't get otherwise," he said.

"It must have been quite special to get accepted into a clan," Bill said. He was impressed. He was surprised that Kato was so modest. He had almost expected him to be a bit cocky. "Fleur says you'll be staying out of our way," he said with a smile. "I was considering asking my little brother Charlie to join us. He doesn't take enough time off. It would be good for him to just relax on a beach for a bit. The bonus is that you won't have to feel as much like a third-wheel." He was smiling broadly.

"Great, instead I get to play tour guide," Kato said but he was smiling too. "You do whatever you want. I'm going to head into the non-magical world to check on some things and then who knows? I might check out the sights. See you tomorrow?" Kato disappeared before either Fleur or Bill could say anything.

Bill smiled at Fleur. "Well, I guess he really isn't interested in playing third-wheel," Bill said. He wrapped an arm around Fleur. "It is very nice of him," he said.

"Kato wants the people around 'im to be 'appy," Fleur said.

16th of August, 1995.

Harry turned his head to the side. He was sitting at the top of a mountain. He had never been this clear-headed in these dreams before. He spread his wings and flew down to the ground below. He focused as he landed on the dew-covered ground. He pulled his spirit out of the animal's body so he could see it from the outside. It was a dragon. 'Figures,' he thought. He felt uneasy though. His soul was that of a dragon in a human body. He reached out and placed a hand against the beast's scaly side. He couldn't do this. He couldn't take on his animagus form. He wouldn't be able to go back. He would be forever stuck. He sighed. It would have been nice to be able to use an animal form, but he was alright with his animagus being a dragon because that was who he was.

"Oh, well," he sighed. He could live with that. It really did make sense after all.

He drifted off back into dreamland.

...

"Charlie can make it here on the eighteenth," Bill said at breakfast.

"Sounds nice," Kato said. "Gabrielle is coming back on the nineteenth. I was thinking we could go to Disneyland on Tuesday. "

"Oh, that sounds fun," Fleur said.

"I'll get everything set up for that then," Kato said. "You two have fun today."

"Oh, there was a letter for you as well," Bill said. He handed it to Kato. Kato opened the letter. He chuckled. "They are coyotes," he told Fleur. The twins had figured out their forms. That was great to know. He wished he could learn the transformation with them, but he couldn't.

"And yours?" Fleur asked.

"I will never be able to take on the form unless, of course, that is the next step for me. It is a part of me and always has been," Kato said.

"I see," Fleur said. She had an idea of what he meant, and she didn't feel the need to push him on it. "We'll see you later," she said.

Kato waved and headed out. He wanted to pick up some ingredients for Fred and George. He had spent the day before in St Mungos with Alice. She was doing a lot better. She was almost nine in behaviour now. She was reading a lot of books. Frank still hadn't woken up, but he wasn't as tense anymore.

Kato moved from one shop to another to find things and then he went out to the green fields outside of Paris to look for other things. The type of plants that Rashall would send him out to get or Rhavaniel would have wanted. He packed everything away for Fred and George and their experiments. He loved gathering plants.

18th of August, 1995.

"Am I seeing things or is Kato out there with a dragon?" Bill asked.

"That is Qozul," Fleur said. "Kato found him when he was just a hatchling and he clung on to Kato like he is Qozul's mother."

"Now I'm sure Charlie won't regret coming here," Bill said. "He loves dragons more than anything else. What type of dragon is that anyway?"

"Crystalback. They are nearly extinct or at least the goblins think so," Fleur said.

"I'll go get Charlie," Bill said. "He should be arriving soon and he will be grumpy. He always is when he has to leave his dragons." He kissed her and headed out. He arrived by the bank and settled down to wait for Charlie. He was hoping that Kato would still be out with the dragon when they returned. That would get Charlie's mood up.

"Hey big bro," Charlie said.

"You look like shit," Bill said bluntly. He looked Charlie over. His left arm was in a cast and a good bit of his hair had been burned off. "I'm guessing someone forced you to come here," he said.

"As soon as they saw your letter," Charlie said. "I couldn't get them to shut up. Even if I hadn't agreed my boss would have just sent me here."

"Come on. Let's go home to Fleur," Bill said.

"So how has your week been huh lover boy," Charlie said. He slapped Bill on the shoulder.

"Fleur is amazing," Bill said. He smiled dreamily. "She has the cutest smile and such a big heart…"

"Okay, I lost you," Charlie said. He looked around. The Delacour family had a nice house. Bill showed him to his room. Charlie dumped his bag on the floor. He could see the ocean from his window. He moved the curtain aside. A glimmer of green caught his eyes among the waves. "Is that…" he headed out of the room and down to the shore. His breath caught in his throat as he saw the beautiful dragon break through the water's surface. Charlie had only ever read about the Cristallum Parvus in books. The dragon played in the water and then a man broke through the surface next to it. The dragon pushed him back into the water.

The man surfaced again and he looked over at Charlie. "You gonna stand there and watch or will you join us? The water is amazing," he said.

"Would love to," Charlie called back. "But my burns wouldn't appreciate the salt water." he watched as the man in the water dived down and reappeared in the shallows. He walked up to Charlie.

"I'm a healer," he said. "Do you want me to look at it?" he asked.

"Our healers have already done what they can," Charlie said. "Dragon fire is hard to heal."

"You mind if I take a look?"

Charlie shrugged, "Sure if you have to," he said.

Kato reached out and touched around the burn wound. "They have covered it in burn salve?" he asked and Charlie nodded. "This shouldn't be a problem to fix," he said. His hands started glowing as he went to heal the wounds.

Charlie felt how the leftover pain that the pain potion and burn salve didn't take care of vanished. He gave the guy a surprised look before heading inside so he could check his face over. He shook his arm out of the cast and stretched his fingers before heading back outside. "How did you do that?" he asked as he came back. "No one can heal burns from dragon fire that easily. Something about the magic of the fire just stops magic from working."

"I don't use wand magic to heal," Kato said. "I'm Kato Peverell by the way."

"Charlie Weasley," Charlie said as he held his hand out.

Kato took the offered hand and shook it.

"Is that a Cristallum Parvus?" Charlie asked as he pointed to Qozul who was still swimming.

"Yes," Kato said. "I found him. The rest of his litter was dead and his mother was gone."

"You are allowed to keep him?" Charlie asked.

"Yes."

"I must say that I'm surprised," Charlie said. "Normally you have to be a licenced Dragon Handler to care for a dragon."

"I'm not," Kato said. "But I have some abilities that give me a certain advantage." He looked out at Qozul. "Qozul aav, join us," he called. The teen dragon flew up to Kato. "What Monah?" he asked.

"Charlie here works with Dovah. He would like to look at you," Kato said. He turned to Charlie. "He will let you take a look at him within reason."

Charlie was staring at Kato. "You can talk to him?" he asked.

"I know the language that dragons speak," Kato said.

"They talk," Charlie said. "I mean I have always said they are smart enough to talk. I just didn't know they could actually talk."

"I have a lexicon. Unfortunately, it doesn't translate to English so I will have to fix that, but I could send a copy your way once I have done that," Kato said.

"Could you really?" Charlie said. He would love to learn the language. That would be so practical and cool. If he could talk to their dragons, his life would be so much easier. He lifted Qozul's wing and looked at the membrane as it spread out. He lifted the little dragon up and turned him over. "Compared to other dragons, very little is known about Crystalbacks," Charlie said.

"Well, he doesn't breathe fire," Kato said.

"Interesting," Charlie said. "I assume he can do something else then?"

"If you let go of him we can show you," Kato said. "Qozul. Charlie would like to see your qo spaan, lightning shield."

"Qozul will show fahdon," Qozul said. He jumped away and lightning shot from his wings.

"Beautiful," Charlie said.

"He is a teenager so he is a little rambunctious right now. Thankfully, Crystalbacks listen to their elders and he sees me as the head of his pack," Kato said.

Bill watched his brother talk to Kato. He was glad that they seemed to get along. He had felt bad leaving Kato alone when he had been at the Delacour house first.

"Looks like we can leave without them noticing," Fleur said.

Bill nodded. "I'll let them know that we'll be back for dinner," he said. He headed down to the beach and caught Kato's attention. "Fleur and I are leaving. We'll be back for dinner," he said.

"Okay, good to know," Kato said.

Bill looked at his brother who was examining Qozul. He chuckled. It looked like Charlie hadn't even noticed him. "Don't worry about overworking food," he said.

"I'll ask Winky to make something light," Kato said. "You two have fun. I'm sure Charlie will stop messing with Qozul eventually.

Bill laughed as he headed back to Fleur. They left so they would get in time for the show.

"So brother, how are the dragons doing?" Bill asked Charlie as they sat down to eat dinner that evening.

"We just got a new Ironbelly in and he is angry. I don't know where he is from. They must have done something horrible to him," Charlie said. He looked at Kato. "You could probably figure it out."

"I probably could, but I just don't have the time," Kato said.

"We'll manage," Charlie said. "It would be interesting to have you over at some point though. Just the fact that you can heal burns is fantastic."

"I'll have a chat with the goblins about that," Kato said. "I'm certainly interested in seeing a dragon preserve. Probably won't happen within the next year and a half at least though. I'm locked until I have healed my current clients. France is close enough I can go back and forth, but Romania would mess with my head a little too much with the time difference and all."

"You are welcome whenever you can make it," Charlie said. "Everyone would appreciate it."

Bill watched his brother. He wondered briefly if Charlie was gay. It wasn't the first time that thought crossed his mind. With six of them, it made sense. Charlie had never been interested in women. It was just the dragons. That was all he would talk about. Sure Kato was something special considering he could talk to dragons and he had a very rare dragon in his possession. It could just be those things that interested Charlie, but Bill wasn't against pushing a little to see if Kato and Charlie would end up as more than friends.

Fleur must have noticed that he was plotting because she gave him a look. He doubted she would be against helping him, though.

22nd of August, 1995.

"Oh, the princesses are so pretty," Gabrielle said. "I want a dress like that." She looked up at Kato as she pointed at Aurora.

"We could probably make that happen," Kato said. "Though we should find some way for you to see the movies first."

"What is a movie?" Gabrielle asked.

"Moving pictures that tell a story," Kato said.

"Could we?" Gabrielle asked.

"I'll see what I can do," Kato said. "Now let's see what the rides are like."

The five of them switch out who went on the rides. Only Gabrielle went on every single ride. Mostly the rides were two-seaters and they adapted to that.

"Fleur that was amazing," Gabrielle shouted as they came back from Space Mountain. She threw herself as her big sister and hugged her.

Fleur laughed and hugged her back. "I'm glad you like it," she said.

"Can we have ice cream?" Gabrielle asked.

"Sure," Fleur said. She hugged Bill as he reached them. Bill grabbed Gabrielle and lifted her up and placed her on his shoulders. She laughed wildly.

"I guess we should follow them," Charlie said as he watched the Delacour sisters and Bill walk off.

"Oh, certainly," Kato said as he grabbed Charlie's hand before he started weaving through the crowd to follow Bill.

Charlie was a bit surprised that Kato took his hand, but he wasn't about to argue. It was a very practical way to stay together. They stopped by the ice cream shop. He could hear people talking around him. Looking around several people were pointing at them and looking less than pleased. Charlie's eyes narrowed. Kato and he were not a couple, but this was just ridiculous. Normally he would probably have pulled away by now, but the people around him just made him move closer to Kato. If there was something he disliked it was people who judged others.

"What's up?" Kato asked. He hadn't realised he was still holding Charlie's hand.

"People are being rude," Charlie said.

Kato looked like he took in the sights as he looked at the people around them. "I see what you mean," he said.

"I don't like it," Charlie said. "They should just mind their own business."

Kato nodded slowly. He ordered ice cream for them and they joined up with Bill, Fleur and Gabrielle.

Bill watched his brother with a raised eyebrow. Charlie and Kato looked very comfortable holding hands. He didn't say anything though.

Gabrielle was off again once the ice cream was consumed she found Belle and took a picture with her. "They are all so pretty," she said as they walked away from Belle.

"That they are," Kato said.

"Will you be a princess with me Kato?" Gabrielle asked.

"Sure. Which one do you want me to be?" Kato asked.

"I don't know yet. I want to see the movies," Gabrielle said. She bounced off to the next ride and the rest of them followed. Fleur smiled. She was glad that Gabrielle was having so much fun.

25th of August, 1995.

Kato's eyes blinked open slowly. The bed next to him was empty. He took a deep breath and sighed. That might have been for the best even though he somehow doubted Charlie would have reminded him of Rhavaniel He sat up slowly. It was early. He checked the time. Five in the morning. He wrapped himself in a robe before heading out into the house. The shower stopped spraying as Kato walked past the door. He moved into the kitchen and placed the moka pot on the stove.

"I didn't mean to wake you," Charlie said as he walked into the kitchen.

"I always wake early," Kato said.

"How do you feel?" Charlie asked.

Kato chuckled. "I'm fine. I heal if something does happen. Don't you worry about that," he said.

Charlie nodded. He wasn't going to argue with Kato about his body. He hadn't been sure at first if he wanted to have sex with Kato, but he was glad he had accepted the offer. He had hoped to leave before anyone woke up. He wasn't sure what Kato wanted now.

"I take it you are leaving," Kato said.

Charlie nodded. "I… I don't know what you… I … I like you, but I don't know…"

Kato smiled. "How about we look more into it when I can come over to the reserve?" he said.

Charlie smiled. "That sounds like an idea," he said.

"And what happens in between happens," Kato said. "If you are in a relationship then. Well, you are. That is just the way life works."

"Thanks," Charlie said. He walked up to Kato and kissed him. The smell of coffee reached him. "Is that for me?" he asked.

"I don't drink coffee," Kato said. "You go ahead. I know you like it. I'm going to take a shower. I'll send you the dictionary so you can start learning the words, but I can't help you much with pronunciation."

"That's fine," Charlie said. "Bye for now." He caught Kato in another kiss.

"Until I see you again," Kato said. "Bye." He headed out of the kitchen so he could clean up.

Charlie looked after him for a bit as he drank his coffee. He did consider joining Kato, but he wanted to get going. He looked forward to writing to him, though.

Later that day Kato was sitting cuddled up with Gabrielle as they watched the Lion King. They were watching the Swan Princess when Apolline and Marceau came back home. That just started the rewatching of all the movies they had seen the past few days.
