Club 23 - Chapter X - The Video Chats
Quasimodo yet again is going to work on his carving of Disney Castle, which is so close to being done! Only needs to touch up on a few things, when he gets a buzz on his phone. He takes it out of his pocket and notices that his friend Phoebus wants to video chat, so of course he decides to take a break to talk with his friend.
"Hey Pheobs, what's up", says Quasimodo
"Hey Quasi, nothing much just chilling, what are you up to…?" he responds
"Oh just finishing on a few things with the castle that's all, it's practically done"
"Really!, that's awesome man, hey don't try to stay up all night perfecting it, give your body some rest"
"Okay I, will" Quasimodo assures Phoebus, "What are you doing for your night?"
"Usual, studying, studying, and talking with the rest of the group"
Quasimodo gave him a raised eyebrow
"Hey, man what did I do?", Phoebus blurts
"And you say I need more sleep" Quasimodo responds
"Okay, you got me there, anyway I'm going to talk with Ali next so hope he answers"
"I'm sure he's up, he will, nice talk, see ya"
"Yea you too, later Quasi", Quasimodo waves goodbye and Phoebus now starts to video chat with Aladdin who is right now studying for assignments as usual. His phone is actually on silent, but when he takes a break he notices Phoebus has tried to call him, so he answers
"Yo Phoebs," Aladdin greets "Sorry I didn't get your first few calls"
"No worries man, sorry for interrupting your study time" Phoebus responds as he sees the books on Aladdin's table
"It's fine, I'm actually taking a little snack break"
"Oh cool, how's it going with classes and stuff?"
"Oh you know it's…going"
"Yeah, I feel that…how's the girlfriend thing treating you?"
Aladdin chuckles, "Phoebs you know she's not my girlfriend…yet"
"Oh"
"Yeah, I was thinking next Friday, I'll ask her on a date"
"That's really great, look her man, I'm really proud of you, I mean I feel like you've matured a lot since the days I've known you"
"Flattering, but not quite, I still laugh at a lot of things a person my age shouldn't laugh at"
"Haha, true, anyway nice talk, gonna talk to Flynn next"
"Cool, had a nice talk, enjoy the rest of your night"
"I will, see ya Ali," Aladdin puts the deuces sign up and Phoebus ends the call. He then calls Flynn, who is actually playing his acoustic guitar in his room, all of a sudden he hears a noise coming from downstairs, it's Flynn's phone and he sees that the contact is Phoebus and decides to answer it
"Tell me why I had my phone downstairs instead of my room, charging peacefully", Flynn blurts out
"I have no reason man", Phoebus responds blankly, "So what ya up to?"
"I am actually been playing my guitar"
"Cool!"
"Yeah, I actually haven't played it in a while, so I was trying to see if I still remembered"
"Okay, can you play me a little tune?"
"Umm…sure, why not", Flynn smiled as he got positioned to play his guitar
"You ready?", Flynn asks Phoebus
"Yeah, let's hear it!", said Phoebus excitingly
Flynn starts to play and really gets lost in his own music and Phoebus is loving it, he's rocking his head back and forth and really having his own groove. Flynn stops playing
"Woah man, that was really good," said Phoebus
"Thanks really appreciate it, I'm actually reuniting the band of me, you, Ali, Quasi, and Esme"
"Really, we haven't done a performance in a long time"
"I know, it probably would never happen though"
"Hey, you never know," said Phoebus optimistically, "Gonna talk with Meg now, see you later"
"Yea you too man, later"
"Bye, Flynn", Flynn waves and Phoebus closes their conversation. He's onto Megara next and she right now is trying the process of a new hairstyle, but she really can't get it to work. She then sees her phone buzz and notices the calls from Phoebus, she doesn't mind answering since it's her friend.
"Woah", said Phoebus, surprised, "What happened you look…"
"Exhausted", Megara responds flatly, "I know, I've been trying to find a new hairstyle, but it hasn't been working"
"I get it, I mean I don't have long hair like you, but I got pretty long hair, see," Phoebus says as he takes off his ponytail to let his hair go"
"Woah", Megara says actually shocked, "I knew your hair was long, but I was not expecting that"
"Yea, I'm actually surprised myself every time I look in the mirror and see it"
"Anyway, I'm bored, what are you doing?"
"Don't know, I've been talking to Quasi, Ali, and recently Flynn"
"Cool, what are they doing?"
"Quasi's working on the finishing touches of his castle, Ali's studying, and Flynn's playing his guitar"
"That's great for them, I haven't heard Flynn play in a while, how is he?"
"He's actually pretty great, still some things he needs to work on, but nonetheless, great"
"Cool, I'm actually going to go to bed, but nice little convo we had Phoebs about…hair"
"Yeah you too, going to talk to Poca next"
"Cool, see ya later"
"Later, Meg", Phoebus hangs up and moves to call in Pocahontas, who is right now in her living room painting, everything is serene, until she gets a buzz, which annoys her at first since she was in total zen until she notices that it's Phoebus, so she give him a talk
"Hey, sorry if I were interrupting something", said Phoebus
"A little annoyed, but it's fine, I'm doing a painting", Pocahontas responds with a smile
"May I see it?", Phoebus asks
"Sure…but it's not quite dry, so I'm going to be careful"
"Okay"
She turns the painting around and Phoebus is impressed
"Ta-da," says Pocahontas says cheerfully, "It's Spaceship Earth"
"From the EPCOT Center!, Phoebus said ecstatically, "I loved visiting that place when I was a child, and still do!"
"Yeah me too, my favorite spot is The Land"
"The Land, that was a cool spot to be"
"Really, put a key focus on agriculture and conservation, as you can see, it piqued my interest later on"
"Yeah I can see that, I'm sorry, but has your hair gotten longer, or is it just me?" Phoebus asks
"No, it has, waits to watch this" Phoebus laughs as Pocahontas is able to cover most of her body in the front with her hair
"Isn't that crazy!" said Pocahontas laughing
"It definitely is, I'm going to talk to Esmeralda now, so great talk"
"It's been a pleasure, thanks"
"Later, Poca," he hangs up on Pocahontas to move on with Esmeralda. Phoebus doesn't know why it's hard for him to do this, he's already texted her and had a good conversation that way. It's just seeing her virtually is odd. Why is it odd, though, he talks to her in person every single day. It's just weird, he's feeling weird, but he goes because something in his head was telling him to have a conversation with the group via video chat, individually. Well here he goes, Phoebus calls Esmeralda and takes some time, but eventually she answers.
"Woah…woah…woah, didn't mean to see all of that" he blurts out as he first answers as Esmeralda is wearing comfy shorts and a tank top on her couch
"Umm…Phoebs, you okay dude?", says Esmeralda who is a little freaked out
"I'm sorry, Esme, it's just…the camera went on your thighs for a brief moment and I kinda freaked out"
Esmeralda laughed to herself, "Phoebus…you've seen my thighs a bunch of times"
"Umm…no I haven't, the only time I've seen your thighs were at the gym"
"And in the summer", she added
"Right, who can't forget the summer, so…whatcha doin'?"
"Oh you know, just chillin' on my couch, nothing new, what are you doing?"
"Same, on the bean bag chillin'"
"Cool", she responds
"You know, Flynn wants to bring back the band?"
"Really!, we haven't done a performance together in years"
"I know, were like ancient history"
"I know right, crazy!"
"Hey, I got a question"
"Shoot"
"Why didn't you, Poca, and Meg not sit with us at lunch today?"
"We were but were stopped by Jasmine and Rapunzel, they asked if we wanted to sit with them, and we said yes, sorry for not telling you"
"It's cool…you hear about the Spring Formal?"
"Yep, saw the flyers on my way out the door today"
"You going?"
"Don't know yet, plus it's a month from now"
"True, I might not"
"Aw, why not?", Esmeralda said with a legit concern of sadness in her voice
"Homecoming…goes well…Prom…goes well…Spring Formal, strike doesn't go well"
"Phoebus…you can't have the past experiences dictate your present, or your future, let me give out a suggestion"
"Go ahead"
"I believe that you need to bring a date"
"Okay and…"
"And that date needs to be someone special, I mean really special, someone that you won't be embarrassed if you two were seen in public, someone you can laugh and dance with, someone…that is perfect"
"So you're saying I need a perfect date?"
"Not a perfect date, THE perfect date my friend"
Phoebus starts to get a little bit of his confidence back, "Wow, yeah, the perfect date, thanks…but how do I get her
Esmeralda sighs, "You'll know because she will come to you"
"Thanks, Esmeralda"
"No, thank you Phoebus for the conversation"
"I'll catch you later, hope you have a good night's sleep"
"And hope you have a great night's sleep"
Esmeralda hangs up and Phoebus now goes off his bean bag and into his bed. He charges his phone and drifts away to sleep. He can't stop thinking about the last thing she said to him, "Have a great night's sleep." In fact, he can't stop thinking about all the conversations he had with his friends. He wakes up, faces up to the ceiling in his bed, smiles, and says…
"I needed that…I really needed that"
