Club 23 - Chapter XIV - The Meeting
"Well hello gorgeous", said Naveen in his usual flirty tone whenever he meets Esmeralda
"Well hello," responded Esmeralda, who was trying to put a flirty tone back
"Where are you off to?", he asks with that smile on his face
"I'm off to my class", she answers
"Oh, I'm sorry", says Naveen in a rather polite way, "I'll let you pass by, you know I like my good mix of brains and beauty" and there he goes again with that suave tone that Esmeralda has come to know
"Oh…how flattering", is all Esmeralda can say
As Esmeralda passes Naveen, he quickly stops her with one more thing to say.
"What", she says slightly irritated
"Oh, it's just about the Spring Formal"
Those two words start to trigger her, as she doesn't have any idea why he would bring up the Spring Formal
"What about the Spring Formal?", she asks hesitantly
"Oh it's that the committee is having its first public meeting"
Now she is intrigued when he mentions there's a meeting
"Really, when?"
"Tomorrow, during lunch, everyone's gonna be there, go tell your little group about it"
"I will, thanks" She gives him a little smile and he smiles back and goes their own separate ways
Classes were boring…per usual, so when Esmeralda was out of them hours later and had to break the news to her friends. She exits her final class and spots Phoebus and Quasimodo walking to the exit, She tries to hurry to them as fast as she can and does so successfully
"Hey, you two…I got something to tell you", she says, slightly out of breath
"That you need some water", says Quasimodo out of concern while Phoebus looks on, "because of have some in my bag" he continues
"Yes, but that's not the only thing, there's a meeting about the Spring Formal tomorrow hosted by the committee during lunch"
"Really?", said Phoebus, "Do you have any idea what this could be about?", he continued
"Not sure, Chances are they are doing a presentation covering overall stuff"
"Cool, and where did you get the information from?"
"I actually got in from Naveen when I was walking over to my class"
Phoebus stood silent while Quasimodo talked over
"Tried to work his magic on you, it seems," said Quasimodo smirking
Esmeralda giggled at the comment, "Yep, and it didn't work as much" Phoebus then renters the conversation
"Okay, I'll text the rest to meet us at the…"
"Auditorium," said Esmeralda helping out Phoebus, "Tell them to meet us at the auditorium during lunch instead of our normal table"
"Aye aye captain", said Phoebus which Esmeralda smiles
"See ya then," said Esmeralda
"See ya", said Phoebus
"Bye Esme", said Quasimodo
Esmeralda had walked to her house by herself after talking with Phoebus and Quasimodo. She made it to her house and sat on her couch in her room. While she was lying there she was thinking about Phoebus's answers to Flynn's questions about who he was planning to ask out
"So let me get this straight: she only has two classes with him, she is slightly younger, and she has two favorite colors which are red and blue", says Esmeralda talking to herself out loud, "Huh she seems, interesting, well whoever it is I hope she makes Phoebus happy because he needs to be happy, anyways, I'm going to head off to bed, boy I hope this meeting at lunch will be interesting" She takes a quick shower and heads her body to sleep for tomorrow
Tomorrow comes and Esmeralda wakes up and per usual, feels like she hasn't got enough sleep, but doesn't want to be late especially for today since today is the Spring Formal committee meeting. So, she does her daily routine of washing her face, doing her hair, eating her breakfast, brushing her teeth, putting on her outfit, fixing her hair, checking her outfit, grabbing her bag, and walking out the door. She walks to the entrance of the school and notices her two girlfriends, Pocahontas and Megara, having a little chat, She decides to greet them.
"Hey yall, how's it going?", she says
"Hey Esme, it's going good so far", says Pocahontas
"Feeling okay, cause y'know…tired", said Megara
"I feel that" agreed Esmeralda, "Anyway, have you seen any of the guys lately?"
"No, but chances are they are talking outside about God knows what?", said Megara
"True, while I have you two here, you got Phoebus's text message, right?"
"The one about the Spring Formal meeting at lunch, then yes," said Pocahontas
"You too, Meg?"
"Yep Esme, got that message too"
The girls continued to chat until they noticed a guy who was wearing semi-business attire and couldn't mark out who it was until Megara noticed Aladdin, Phoebus, and Quasimodo walking alongside him, quickly noticed that the guy in the professional wear was none other than Flynn Rider himself. Megara had tapped the shoulder of both Esmeralda and Pocahontas to get their attention and once they took a glance they were shocked as Megara.
"What…the…fuck…are you wearing?" said Megara
"Ummm…did you not get the same message that was sent by Phoebus, We are attending a meeting, so why not dress like we are going to a meeting, yes Poca, everything I'm wearing is very eco-friendly", said Flynn wearing a navy blue button down, black slacks and shoes to match
Pocahontas slightly laughed, "Wow, stylish and sustainable, I'll be honest, looks good on you Flynn, or whether we call you Eugene"
"Prefer Flynn, but both are fine"
"See, I told you guys that he was totally gonna act rich when he wore this", said Aladdin towards Phoebus and Quasimodo
"Yea, sorry about that", said Quasimodo
"Quasi don't apologize because this is actually comedy gold", said Aladdin
The group made it inside as classes were about to begin, survived those…well barely survived, and made their way towards lunch. They ate a little before heading to the auditorium, where they tried to get new seats for the meeting about the Spring Formal. The seating order was this: one seat to the left of Aladdin, then Pocahontas, followed by Megara, and then Flynn with a seat to the right of him. Below them were Quasimodo at the end, with Phoebus in the middle, followed by Esmeralda with a seat on the right of her. Before the meeting starts Jasmine and Rapunzel arrive with Jasmine taking the vacant seat next to Aladdin and Rapunzel taking the vacant seat next to Flynn.
"Hey Jazz", says Aladdin greeting her
"Hey Ali, how've you been?", she says
"I've been pretty well", he responds as he glances at her, she's wearing a light blue sweater with black leggings that perfectly outlined her figure, he quickly glances back to her face before he is caught staring, "So, what have you been doing?" he asks trying to be smooth and not nervous
"You know…studying"
"Yea, studying sucks"
"I know, trying to memorize stuff, fucks my brain up"
"Woah, never thought you be the one to curse"
Jasmine, slightly blushes out of embarrassment, "Sorry, if that bothered you, trying not to"
"No, I'm good…I think it's a good way to get some frustrations out"
Meanwhile Flynn and Rapunzel
"Hey Flynn," she says, "Wow, your dressed kinda dapper
"Umm…thanks", he says trying to keep up the act, "I've got a question"
"Shoot"
"How's it like with all that hair, how do you take care of it?"
"Oh you know, making sure a brush it, come it and just make sure it's healthy"
"Huh, interesting to know, Blondie, interesting to know"
"Blondie…interesting nickname", says Megara
"Quiet Megara", says Flynn slightly angry, while Meg just laughs, even though he used her full name
The chatter comes to a stop when the committee president, Tiana, and her assistant, Charlotte come out with the announcement
"Hello, student body, the Spring Formal Committee likes to welcome you to this special public meeting, as you all know, I'm Tiana, the committee president, with my assistant Charlotte"
"Hello y'all", says Charlotte cheerfully
"And we are here to discuss and big thing concerning the Spring Formal…the theme"
A little chatter comes from the audience and Tiana continues to speak
"To help me with this, please welcome Ariel, Eric, Belle, Adam, Mulan, and Hercules AKA, the committee members"
The committee members walk out and for some reason, Megara has her eye on a certain member
"What…Hercules, I haven't seen him in a while, he's gotten bigger the last time I saw him" she said to herself, but she couldn't stop staring at his muscles, Flynn took notice
"You alright their bud", Flynn says teasing
"For your information, I am fine Eugene", said Meg slightly angry, this time it was Flynn's term to laugh, even though she used his real name
Back on stage, Tiana starts to talk
"So, this has been the biggest question we have been getting about this ever since the posters were hung up, well Question no more, I am happy to announce that with my assistant and my committee members that the theme for this year's formal is…Hollywood Glamour!"
Everybody had a look that went "interesting", While that was going on Esmeralda started to take notice of who was sitting next to her right
"I can see why because you look like a movie star," said Naveen to her while Phoebus rolled his eyes as she just smiled. Meanwhile, Belle takes the microphone
"Part of the main reason we chose this theme is that, we want everybody to feel like a movie star like they're walking the red carpet, which will be the entryway by the way", Ariel takes it next
"It's going to look so beautiful as you immerse yourself into a movie premiere/awards show", Then it's Eric's turn
"One thing about the concept that I like is that it's supposed to make you feel like a VIP" Then comes Adam's turn
"To touch on what Eric was saying, this is going to be an experience like your being one of your favorite movie stars", Then comes Mulan
"One feature that I like that is going to be incorporated is the walk of fame decor that we have all over the ballroom and the dining areas" Hercules takes the microphone
"Another feature that is going to be a crowd favorite is the Hollywood sign backdrop, I think that's going to bring amazing photo ops, and let me give the microphone back to Tiana"
"Thank you so much y'all, I had so much fun with them and planning it and is there anything you want to add Charlotte", Tiana passes the microphone to her
"Yes Tia, there is, Tickets will be $25 and if you buy them the week off they are $35, so get them while you can, and we hope you enjoy your night there!"
"That is all, thank you, and see you all there!" The committee members left the stage and the group met outside the auditorium. Flynn was the first to speak
"I'm actually a fan of the theme, always wanted to be famous, my name in big lights"
"I think the theme is nice, who also agrees," says Esmeralda
Everybody shakes their head yes, Quasimodo breaks the ice
"Well, I don't know about you, but I'm going to class, see you all later"
"Yea, important class coming up, I'll see you soon", says Phoebus
The rest of the group starts going their separate ways, Esmeralda however stops Flynn
"Flynn, I need your help on something?"
"Go on," said Flynn sounding intrigued
"Remember when you were quizzing on Phoebus's mystery girl for the Spring Formal?"
"Yep"
"Well…I wanna help you figure out who she could be because it's somehow been bothering me yesterday, What if she's not good for him, I don't want to see him hurt, he doesn't take sadness well
Flynn walks up to her, "Well if it makes you feel better about him, then yes, I'll help, deal" he opens his hand for Esmeralda
She smiles and shakes his hand, "Deal"
Interesting partnership that Esmeralda and Flynn have made for themselves, What secrets are they going to uncover...find out soon.
