Club 23 - Chapter XXIII - The Band Is Back Together...ish
It's Saturday…Saturday morning to be exact and Flynn has woken up ready for the day ahead of him, and the others…not so much
"Ugggh, Flynn…why did you want us in at your house at eight in the morning", said Aladdin still tired, "I was literally up all night talking to Jasmine", he continued
"Oooooh, what happened…I want all the details?", Flynn said, still ready for the day and feeling not an inch of tiredness
"As I told you, we were up all night talking…then her father walked in and we both got scared, so she ended the conversation, man just the thought of him spooks me"
"Hmmm, isn't he rich or something?"
"Yes!", says Aladdin with a hint of some emotion, "Let's not talk about that now"
"Ali's right", said Phoebus chiming in, "Why the hell are we here so early, plus where is everybody else?"
"Relax boys", Flynn responds, "I'll get to what we are doing in a little bit, Quasi and Esme are on their way"
"Good, because whatever this is, it better be important Rider," Phoebus said with some slight anger in his voice
"Okay, easy there bud, it is"
A few minutes later Quasimodo and Esmeralda arrive
"Umm, Esme…are you sure that's Flynn's house?" said Quasimodo
"Yep, that's the place," Esmeralda said surly
"Maybe I don't recognize it because it got a new paint job or I haven't been here this often"
"I'll bet the latter," said Esmeralda as the two of them walked to meet up with their friends
"Hey Quasi…Hey Esme", said Aladdin who was still kinda tired
"Jeez, man, looked like you fighting your sleep vs actually enjoying it", responded Esmeralda Aladdin actually smiling at the joke
"Don't mention it", said Aladdin. After he said that there was a brief moment between Esmeralda and Phoebus, they haven't really spoken to each other since Phoebus asked her out, but now since they were here together, they might as well make some sort of attempt.
"Hey", he said to her
"Hey", she said back to him
"Alright, everybody!" said Flynn, interrupting the two's moment, "Glad you all can make it for this very special thing, I have planned, Ali, join me" he continues as Aladdin joins him behind his garage
"Um, so we went up to meet with Tiana and her assistant Charlotte…"
"Assistant manager Charlotte", Flynn interrupted and Aladdin continued
"Anyways, we met up with the two of them and they have allowed us to…"
"Have the band! and today is going to be some rehearsals for what songs we're gonna sing!", Flynn interrupted again with enthusiasm
"Um…Flynn" said Quasimodo
"Shoot, Quasi"
"Why so early though?"
"Because we have to get ourselves really prepared, this is like our first important gig, in like…forever, can't you see, this is our comeback show!"
"Um…Flynn" this time said by Esmeralda
"Shoot, Esme"
"What songs are we gonna sing?"
"Damn…I shoulda thought about that, but I'm sure we'll figure it out along the way", he said, "Anyway, let's get going!", he exclaimed as his garage door was going up, showing a band set. Quasimodo went over to the drum set and questioned if he could still play as well as he did
"Umm, Flynn, what if I can play as well as good as I used to, I mean ever since I took up carving as a hobby I quit the drums" Quasimodo states as Flynn sits down next to him
"Look, I understand this might be tough for you, but I want you to know, Quasi as that I believe all that knowledge with the drums, start slowly, but surely, come back…back…back," he says pretending to fade
As he listens to Flynn and begins to play something a little simple, it's all starting to come back. Everything starts to come back, like pieces to a puzzle, or when a detective solves a huge mystery. Quasimodo keeps going and going and everybody is taking notice. He pretends that Madelliane is in front of him being his number one fan and continues until he takes a pause. He looks up at Flynn, he looks up at all of his friends, and they are all in awe of how good Quasimodo did
"Quasimodo!", Emeralda cheered, "That was amazing!", she then came over to give him a high-five
"Yeah, man that was really good", said Phoebus
"Thank you guys", said Quasimodo, looks like I still got the hang of it"
"Let me try with this guitar", says Aladdin as he begins to play
Aladdin hasn't played in a good while as well, but he kinda heard what Flynn said to Quasimodo and applied it to himself, and he too was playing well as well
"Wow…nice Aladdin," said Quasimodo
"Thanks, and nice drumming skills as well", Aladdin complemented Quasimodo back
"Let me play this guitar", said Phoebus, who still from time to time would play his own guitar at home if he timed, played, and had an awesome performance as well
"That was good," said Esmeralda
Phoebus told her, "Thanks" with a smile
"Excuse me guitar bros, but let me show you how it's done", said Flynn as he picked up his lucky guitar
"Okay…stage is yours", said Aladdin
"Yeah, I know, it's my garage", said Flynn as he played, despite the talk, he actually playing really well and in fact, everybody clapped when he was done
"Thank you, thank you", Flynn said as he bowed, "Five bucks for an encore" Everybody chucked at the joke he was making, and he continued
"That was great everybody, one more person we need to check out", he then forwarded his attention to Esmeralda
"Who…me, um I don't play an instrument," said Esmeralda slightly confused
"Ahem", Flynn then pointed to his lips
"Oh…right, I'm vocals, I forgot about that" Esmeralda lied
"Yeah, you are, and I think after what we did, I think it's fair that we hear you sing…acapella", said Flynn with all the other boys agreeing
"Acapella…interesting", said Esmeralda slightly nervous
"Yeah, why not, just go on the mic and give us your all!", said Flynn sounding like a motivational speaker
"Okay, but I'm not sure I can do this, I mean it's been ages since I've sung, I mean I don't want my voice to sound like a broken dishwasher, I mean…" Esmeralda rambled until a hand appeared on her shoulder
"It's alright…you got this", said Phoebus
Esmeralda slightly smiled at him and took a deep breath, "Okay" and took the microphone and sang
I threw a wish in the well
Don't ask me, I'll never tell
I looked at you as it fell

When she first sang the verse, her voice was soft and pleasant and at some times deep, but it managed to work as she continued

Her voice becoming more confident and confident as well as her stage presence, took the boys in awe, especially a certain someone

After she was done, everybody clapped and told her well she did, Flynn stood in front of his garage and told everybody, "Wow…amazing job, next weekend, let's work on more music and sound choices, and you'll be free to go"
After he said that, they all thanked Flynn and Phoebus caught up with Esmeralda and said, "Why that song?"
She shrugged her shoulders and told him, "I don't know, popped into mind I guess"
"Never that you listened to Carly Rae Jepsen",
"Well now, you know", she laughed and moved along and all he could think was "Wow"
Meanwhile, Pocahontas and Megara are doing some early shopping for the Spring Formal, they take a break in the middle and sit down on one of the mall benches. Pocahontas takes her phone out to call someone
"Alright, Meg…hope it goes well" said Pocahontas optimistically
"And if it doesn't…", said Megara
"Umm…don't know yet"
Pocahontas makes the call, and the other person answers
"Hello"
"Hey John…"
"Pocahontas, is this you?"
"Umm…yeah, it is"
John still flustered, "I'm sorry, as wasn't expecting this"
"It's all right because I'm not expected myself to ask you this question"
"Okay go on"
Pocahontas lets out a deep sigh, "What are wearing to the Spring Formal?"
"Umm…haven't decided yet, I'm going shopping for a suit tomorrow actually"
"Okay, well take your time, I'll see you later…I guess"
"Yeah…see you later, I guess", and he hangs up
"So…", says Megara
"So, I think it's going pretty well," says Pocahontas with a slight smile
"Well, that's good," said Megara, until they both spot within the corner of their eye a man about the same size and height as Smith, with his brown hair tied up Pocahontas especially can't stop staring and Megara takes good note of this and says
"Welp, we probably found a roadblock…a major roadblock"
