Club 23 - Chapter XXV - The Preparation Begins
Phoebus was still in his bed, lying down as he had nothing else to do on that Saturday and he just…well just fell asleep, probably dreaming about how Formal is going to be a success, hopefully, if everything goes right. Anyway, Phoebus is asleep and he stays that way until the next morning on Sunday as he wakes up to a notification on the phone…a text from Flynn. Here's what it says,
Hey, so after Quasi gets back from church, he, myself, you, and Ali are going to the mall to get our suits fitted for formal, k
Phoebus replies back
Sure, see ya there
After Phoebus puts down his phone next to his bed, he realizes something
"Wait…suits fitting, damn, then that means, the Formal is right around the corner", he said to himself, slightly panicking
"Then that means, going out with…Esmeralda, wait…why do I think that's a bad thing? She said yes to my proposal, I mean any guy would want that, right?... Ha ha…but what about our years of friendship, would that be it if we…dated?"
He takes a sigh
"There is a lot going on" he still says to himself, "But there are important things that are important though, What suit matches with purple?"
Meanwhile Pocahontas and Megara, at Megara's house
"You WHAT!?", Megara exclaimed
"Lower your voice Meg you're acting like I was flirting with him or something", Pocahontas responded back
"I mean what happened with you getting together with John?" Megara questioned, "Now I got to worry about two British guys"
"Guess what this guy's name is," says Pocahontas
"Please don't let me think what I think it is"
"Yep"
"Great, Now we got to worry about two British guys that just so happened to be named 'John'"
"Meg relax for a second", Pocahontas says as he brings Megara down with her to sit on the couch
"Um, Poca, kinda hard to relax because one…can't believe that's his name, two…can't believe he's British, and three…I'm the person that's trying to get you back with your ex!"
Pocahontas steps back and Megara continues
"I mean I know you're not cheating on him because you two are not together, but damn"
Pocahontas speaks up
"Meg, look, it was nothing, I'm sure that me and John…"
Megara raises an eyebrow
"Smith, are going to continue and be fine, and plus I'm sure that other John doesn't even attend Disney anyway"
Megara gets closer to her friend and hugs her
"You're right, sorry I snapped out on you"
"It's fine" and the two simultaneously smile at each other
"You want something to drink?", says Megara as she gets up from the couch
"A water will be fine", said Pocahontas
Meanwhile, Esmeralda is trying to meditate to get herself ready for the week, which she knows is going to be chaotic since it's the last week before the Spring Formal
As she has her mat placed and calming music to well…calm her she sits with her legs crossed as she goes to the peaceful palace and almost falls asleep until Djali makes some noises and completely throws her off
"What the…?" she says as she tries to figure out where the noise came from, she notices that her room door is unlocked
"Really...Djali" she says as she looks towards her goat with a guilty smile on his face, "We've been through this a thousand times it seems, don't ruin 'Meditation Sunday' okay
"Baaaa, baa'a baaaaa baaa, Ba baaaaaa" (Sorry, won't happen again, I promise), he says
"Thank you, now close mommy's door", as he does his owner's orders, "Now where was I, right", as she gets back to doing her meditation
Now back to the boys, who should be at the mall
"Alright gentlemen, the moment is upon us," said Flynn, "Behold, the greatest tuxedo store East of the Mississippi" he exclaimed
"Um Flynn, not to burst your bubble, but don't you mean West," said Quasimodo correcting his friend
"Or wherever, anyway, let's see what we can find"
Flynn, Phoebus, Aladdin, and Quasimodo enter the store to find suits and shirts and slacks, and shoes to make them look nice. Flynn speaks to them
"Now the key thing is, we gotta look good when standing in front of our date so we need to find something that matches with their aesthetic or just match with them overall
"Well, I know Jasmine loves light blue, so I know she is going to wear that color", chimed Aladdin, "So, I wear that color or I'm thinking white
"I'm definitely going to match with Madellaine", said Quasimodo, "Because my favorite color is green, and hers is too, so it's going to be perfect
"Well, I know that Blondie loves pink, but do I want to wear pink, nah, I'm probably going to go with blue instead", said Flynn
Everyone had given their descriptions of what they wanted to wear, except Phoebus
"So Phoebs", said Flynn, "What are you thinking about wanting to wear to impress Esmeralda?"
Phoebus turned around slowly to face his friends since he had really no preparation besides having Esmeralda as his date
"Um…Gray" Is the only thing Phoebus can muster when it comes to how he dressed
"Gray, really Phoebs?", said Flynn, "I mean you do realize that Esmeralda is going to have something vibrant to wear like she always does, you gotta pull out the big guns on this one man", he continued giving his friend some words of encouragement in the only way he knows how
"Well Flynn, you know that I'm always simplistic when it comes to these kinds of things" responded Phoebus and Flynn put his hand on his shoulder and said
"Look, I know you are, but if you want to make an impression, you need to make a statement, boys are you ready to have a montage of clothing outfits in like every 2000s movie ever"
"Um…sure", says Aladdin
"Why not", says Quasimodo
"Montage!", exclaims Flynn and so it begins…
The first combo is what Phoebus suggested a gray tuxedo with a white shirt, gray slacks, and a bowtie with black shoes, it was an alright look, but the boys weren't really feeling it and he changed
The second combo is the same setup, but with a light blue shirt, then another combo with a dark blue shirt, apparently Flynn thought it was a good idea to have Phoebus come out with the same setup, but with a different shirt, didn't look bad, but that's not what they wanted
They even tried some crazier options like a purple tuxedo, like he was the Joker or something, an orange, yellow, tan, brown, and even some with some patterns, still didn't work out.
"It feels like we've been through like every tux, suit, or whatever in this place," said Aladdin, I'm starting to get tired
"Same here", says Quasimodo, I could be home on the finishing touches on my Disney Castle carving"
"You're still not done?", questioned Aladdin
"Well I've been busy with a lot of things, but it's almost here"
"Guys, relax", said Flynn, "Look, I know that we've been through a lot of crappy designs here, but let us not give up home, the fate of our entire friendship hangs in the balance, we need to stay focused" he continued as Aladdin and Quasimodo nodded their heads in agreeance
"Your right, Flynn", said Quasimodo
"Aren't I always"
"Alright, Mr. Ego don't let it all go to your head", said Aladdin
"Okay fine, alright he's about to come out"
Phoebus comes out of the changing room and the looks the boys give him look like they finally found out a scientific discovery. He was wearing a black tuxedo, with a black vest, a black bowtie with a white tuxedo shirt, black slacks, and the shiniest shoes ever. It was perfect, simplistic, and impressive all at once
"So, judging based on reaction, I think this is it"
"Definitely!", said Flynn
"Look amazing Phoebs", said Aladdin
"You look like an action movie star attending a premiere for a movie", said Quasimodo getting descriptive
"Thanks, Quasi", Phoebus said flattered, "Thanks to all of you for helping out with this, hopefully, Esmeralda will give me the same reaction
"I think she will," said Flynn, "Alright Aladdin, Quasimodo, let's figure out our suits" and the three of them go hunting for what they were talking about earlier
Speaking of Esmeralda, she is lying asleep in her bed taking a nap until she hears a notification on her phone, from Megara that says
Hey, I and Poca are going to the mall to continue what we want to wear to the Formal, we know that you don't have any idea about what you wanna wear, so…do you wanna come? I'm at my place
Esmeralda quickly responds with
Sure, I'm on my way
The boys, for the most part, seem pretty set with their outfits, now it's the girls' turn. Find out in the next chapter how the girls are going to find their outfits and the continuation between Pocahontas and the other John (Wolfe). Plus, how are Esmeralda and Phoebus as we get so close to the Spring Formal? The next chapter will be out either on the 30th or December 1st.
