English Class was the most relaxing class of the day, the female teacher was laid back and often gave little work though she expected them to use particular words and phrases according to the lesson book, this often came with tea and cakes for the people to talk to each other. Lenny was sitting with his group which consisted of Lilly and Hanako. Even though Lenny attended yesterday, this was the first full day where he felt truly calm. Shizune and Misha were watching in the distance but when it came to it, they wanted to be one to speak to Lenny if they found the chance.
Katawa Shoujo- Concord
"Lenny, I sense something is off but do you know what it must be?" Lilly began. She fumbled around looking for her tea cup. Lenny noticed this and decided to grab the cup and held it for Lilly. "Oh thank you Lenny."
"You're welcome." Lenny replied. Lilly took the cup and placed it onto the saucer. She grabbed the tea kettle and began pouring the tea down into the cup before scooting it over to Lenny.
"I wanted to see if this day would gauge how calm you are. You felt nervous the first day when we met, I don't think we had a proper conversation." Lilly explained to Lenny. Lilly was trying the gauge her friend and she was willing to step in and try her best to help him out in case something went wrong. Hanako was sitting there in the distance and watching closely.
"I… I don't think… we had… one.." Lenny answered nervously that he still didn't know her and Hanako too well. Lily nodded before she began speaking.
"I think you two would enjoy each other." Lilly began. She turned to Hanako who was keeping her right hand over her right eye. "Hanako, a sweet person wants to meet you." Lilly called for her friend's name. Hanako removed her hand from her eye when she looked at Lenny with Lenny looking at her back, he was beginning to sweat a bit while the pulse monitor began flashing slightly faster than before. Lenny was nervous around Hanako.
"H… hello?" Lenny tried to speak to Hanako, but he felt like something was holding him back. Hanako looked at Lenny as if the new kid was nervously trying to make a conversation with her.
"Hello." Hanako responded back. Lenny tried to figure out what to say next but he felt like he was walking on eggshells around Hanako. Lenny didn't bother to speak. "You're Lenny are you? I don't think we had a conversation that wasn't about our class work." Hanako asked in a calm gentle voice of hers.
"Yes I am and nice to make… your…? Acquaintance?" Lenny quickly responded by trying to hide the fact that he was nervous, he was having trouble speaking to Hanako. His smile quickly faded though as Lenny began drinking some tea. Lilly watched the two of them speaking to each other.
"Hisao told me about you and I was surprised to have a student with a similar condition to my boyfriend." Hanako tried her best to be open minded with the new student. Her speaking was better than Lenny's but there was a bit of a hush to her voice as she tried to explain.
"Oh. I. think we're getting each other mixed up for one another." Lenny tried to match Hanako in terms of being calm and gentle. Lilly observed this conversation while she was willing to step in and mediate anything between them if it happened.
"Yeah, I feel a little sorry about that as Lilly is the one that takes care of me. Plus even though you and Hisao act differently, the truth of it is that you two don't look that much different from each other. You're both relatively tall, lanky boys. You look like a mix of Hisao and Lenny" Hanako replied. She began sipping her tea with her friend as Lenny looked back at the board where the words were written on it. He wanted to attempt to stay on the lesson while Lilly watched from her seat.
"Probably not used to being around someone like you… Hanako. I… try my best… to… say something nice to you." Lenny was trying to put sentences together and was having some trouble doing so. Lilly knew she needed to step in and help them both out as neither one of them were getting anywhere.
"Need some help, Lenny?" Lilly offered to join the conversation. Lenny looked at Lilly, she was offering to help out with the conversation if it meant keeping it going. Lenny seemed to notice this and decided that he could be good at accepting the help.
"Please do, I'm having trouble." Lenny admitted. His heart monitor was flashing slightly faster now. Lenny felt tense about it, the signal was reading that if he kept this up he would have two accidents today when it came to his condition instead of just racing Emi.
"Sure thing." Lilly replied and she now joined the conversation. "So Hanako, you want to know more about Lenny Hirahi?" Lilly began the conversation as she was taking over for Lenny. From the background, Shizune was watching with Misha as Lilly was talking to Hanako.
"Not really, when I was talking to Hisao this morning when we had our first period class together earlier today, he brought up the name of Lenny. I was wondering, who was this kid? Can I trust him? Was he going to be open and friendly? A million questions were running through my head." Hanako answered while Lilly listened in on this. Misha was also listening and signed the language to Shizune. Shizune responded with some signs of her own.
"I think that is something you two will have to work out together when we go to the library later." Lilly reminded Hanako that there was another opportunity if they were going to get to know each other a bit more. Hanako nodded.
"Oh I forgot about that, you're willing to lead the way?" Hanako told Lilly that this hangout was something that slipped past her mind. Lilly nodded before she turned to Lenny.
"All three of us are going together and since Lenny has yet to see the library. I will lead." Lilly smiled with a nod. Misha was listening in on this as she continued to sign to Shizune about their plan.
"Maybe we can get Lenny to figure out what he's into, we have yet to see what his interests are as of yet." Hanako was curious to see what their partner was interested in. Art? Running? Reading? They didn't know anything about this new student so far. Lilly looked on as Lenny silently passed the empty teacup to Lilly. Lenny was shaking a bit as if he was walking on eggshells either around Hanako or worse, himself.
"I'm not one to really talk much through class because I'm nervous of Hanako." Lenny admitted that he felt a bit embarrassed, so he began to blush. Hanako looked at Lenny who was beginning to notice him shaking again. She didn't know if she should trust her judgment with him or talk to Lilly about it. She decided to go talk with Lilly.
"Lenny seems pretty nervous about talking to us. Is he hiding something?" Hanako asked Lilly if there was something off with Lenny.
"Yeah, there's probably something wrong but neither of us know that he's hiding. What should we do about it? I don't want to pressure him in case he's hiding something that he doesn't want to talk about. Let's give him some time to feel comfortable around us before we ask what he is hiding." Lilly asked Hanako. Lenny felt like time was completely stuck in the one moment where he wasn't able to do anything.
"I don't know, I want to talk to him about it, maybe when we get to the library then we can talk more." Hanako replied, she too felt like Lenny, having nowhere to go, being stuck in that moment of time. She looked at him and then the clock. Misha was eavesdropping on them and figuring out what their intentions were going to be. Lenny got out his notebook and began writing the words down in it to see if it could break the deadlock. Once the ten words had been jotted down, he placed the notebook back into his bag while everyone was trying to figure out what they wanted to do.
"So anything else you wanted to talk about?" Lenny asked as he was attempting to break the deadlock.
"I don't think we've gotten anything done, you have written the words down right?" Lilly asked.
"Yeah I have. I placed the book back in the bag though so do you need anyone to copy them down?" Lenny asked if they would need the words.
"My teacher spelled them out for me since I can't see anything. It's always good to have your ears open too." Lilly explained to Lenny, but Lenny was left with another question that was bugging him.
"How do you read if you can't see?" Lenny asked.
"I read in Braille, I can teach you how to read, plus having my ears open so I can listen to what everyone sounds like is also important." Lilly explained to Lenny how she uses her senses that helps get through her day-to-day life.
"Interesting, I would want one of those in case my eyesight is gone, I would rather be blind than have a heart problem. I would be interested in reading something like that." Lenny admitted that he would have something that would be moreover a minor nuisance than something life threatening.
"I bet you can't wish for something so fickle to change the way you were born; you are born the way you are. I bet if Hanako wished to change something, she wished for her father to come back." Lilly told Lenny that he couldn't change anything if he did everyone would abuse it to bring something back. Lenny was silent when someone mentioned someone else's father. "Is there something wrong Lenny? You don't understand braille?" Lilly asked him. Lenny's body felt tense when someone mentioned their father in front of him, he felt the heart monitor begin to race. Lenny finally snapped out of his silence.
"No, no there is not." Lenny told Lilly that nothing was wrong. He was trying to hide something from Lilly and Hanako until he felt like he was ready to tell them. The bell then rang out as they managed to kill time to enjoy a good class. Now it was off to the library. Lenny gathered his belongings with Lilly and Hanako as the others left the room, they were waiting for Shizune and Misha to leave the room before they were going to make their move. Once the student president and her translator left the room. Lenny began speaking to Lilly. "You're the one who knows where the library is from here, so you lead the way."
"With pleasure." Lilly replied. Lilly was the first to exit the room followed by Hanako and then Lenny with him trailing behind them, they were off to the library. Misha and Shizune were watching before they made their way to the art room. The former didn't know the latter was stalking them and preparing to set up an ambush.
They got to the library, which was the best part of the school, it was a space to hang out, read and play chess. Hisao arrived after finishing his last class of the day. He opened the doors to see Lenny, Lilly and Hanako just getting themselves in. He was right behind them. The three people went up next as the librarian stopped them. She was familiar with the first two but not the third person in the party.
Katawa Shoujo- Everyday Fantasy
"Who are you?" She asked Lenny in particular. "I've never seen you before in this part of the school."
"This is Lenny Hirahi, he's the new kid at Yamaku Academy. I have yet to show him this room in particular." Lilly introduced Lenny to the librarian. She smiled as if she was more or less wanting to get to meet this new student. She also wanted to lay out some ground rules if he was going to stay in the library.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Yuuko Shirakawa, I'm the librarian here. Remember the few rules we have such as no horsing around, no being loud as you can chat but please don't be disruptive. And return the books by said date you borrowed them. We've been having books disappear on us from time to time." Yuuko introduced herself and laid out a few rules for Lenny to follow.
"Nice to meet you too. I promise I will follow these rules as best as I can." Lenny replied. Yuuko gave a warm smile as she was more than pleased to have him over. Hanako walked up to Yuuko as she had a question.
"You know where we can find a chess board?" Hanako asked. Yuuko was going to respond to Lenny when she turned to Hanako as she was ready to answer her question.
"I got one in the back with the pieces, make sure you return them after the session is done." Yuuko replied while she went foraging around for the game. She came out with a wooden checkerboard and the pieces that matched in a plastic bag.
"I will, thank you." Hanako smiled while she took the board and the pieces. The others followed while Hisao checked himself into the library. Once that was all done, they began to head off to their particular spots they liked. Lenny picked out a spot in the corner which had a table and three chairs, a couple of soft plush chairs to sit in. Lenny sat down in one of these chairs and opened his bag. He had brought along one of the books he had taken with him from the hospital and by the looks of things, he was still only at the beginning. He was debating on whether or not to start over, but this caught Lilly's attention.
"What's that you're reading?" Lilly asked as the book was a sci-fi themed one.
"A sci-fi novel." Lenny replied. He was still debating whether or not to start over with the book. Lilly was taking an interest in it and wanted to figure out what exactly it was about. He foraged for the bookmark and when he found it, it was less than fifty pages into the first book.
"What's it called and what's the plot?" Lilly asked as she was curious about what it was called and its plot.
"It's called Ender's game… well the first book and it's about a boy named Ender Wiggen that enrolls in a school to fight off insect like race in a war like a game. Or that's what I gathered from the first few pages." Lenny replied as he tried his best to determine what the plot of the book was. Lilly had taken an interest in this and she decided to get closer to Lenny.
"That sounds cool, I don't know if I'm willing to fight insects in a war?" Lilly asked as she thought the plot of the book was neat.
"Only question is that I have only read the first few pages while I was in the hospital, but I didn't take an interest in reading as I was just so tired all the time. Should I start over from the beginning?" Lenny asked Lilly if it would be a good time to start over. Lilly began to give it some thought about it before she began speaking again.
"Since Yamaku Academy is a new page for you Lenny, start from the beginning." Lilly told Lenny if this was something new for him. Starting over was the best thing he could do as he could collect details he had missed on his first reading.
"Good idea. I'll read a couple of chapters from the beginning while we get ourselves set up for a game of chess." Lenny liked Lilly's idea. Lilly nodded while she rested her hand under her chin.
"Okay I'll play with Hanako first." Lilly responded. Hisao returned with a book as he spotted Lenny reading his.
"I see you got yourself a book. It looks cool." Hisao began talking to Lenny as if he had taken interest in it.
"Yeah I got this and another one from the hospital I was in. Never read the second one as I barely got through this one." Lenny stated. Hisao laughed before while someone was sneaking up on them. He suddenly popped out of the corner from the books in an attempt to scare them.
Katawa Shoujo- Out of the loop
"Boo!" He pranked them harmlessly. He laughed while the others weren't really phased by this except for Lenny who was taken a bit by surprise.
"Kenji, was that necessary?" Hisao asked his friend if that was a necessary move.
"No but I wanted to do it anyway. I have a crazy new conspiracy that will blow you all out of the water! The female students are taking over the school!" Kenji called out as he was giving his beliefs.
"How can you tell?" Hisao asked. Lenny wasn't responding, deep into the concentration of his reading. "I don't see any feminist conspiracists plotting their takeover." Hisao told Kenji that he was dumbfounded. There was nothing of interest for Kenji to be worked up over.
"I am about to go undercover to gather evidence, I will be back in three days, if you know where I have gone if I don't get back, find the notebook I have logged all of my information in a journal I have in my dorm and I want it published." Kenji responded. Hisao began to think of something in order to make him go away. Lenny was reading, Hanako and Lilly were playing chess and Kenji was being a nuisance. Hisao knew the perfect way to make him go away.
"Okay I'll let you do it." Hisao sighed. Kenji smiled with glee before he began to move off. Hisao sighed. Kenji then left the library as he knew the perfect place to stalk the girls. Hisao sighed as Lenny was busy reading and Lilly and Hanako were playing chess.
Katawa Shoujo- The Student Council
Rin was in the art studio as she did her best to hide the painting she made for Lenny. Emi was outside and acting as a runner in case the cover had been blown. Plan was to distract Shizune and Misha long enough for Lenny to get bored and leave the library allowing Shizune to go over there. If the painting had been found out, Emi was going to use her legs and speed to go to the library and try to hide Lenny. Shizune and Misha entered with the other art students, and they began to look around. Shizune began to sign while Misha handled the translation.
"Lovely batch of pictures you have here. I was expecting that the art club was going to make something interesting today." Misha began as Shizune's heart was fluttering with excitement. The director of the art club began speaking for himself. "Many of these will be valuable for the festival coming up where young creators would express themselves talent wise."
"We've been hard at work making sure that your pictures are the highest quality for the upcoming event, and we would like to see which ones are your favorite." Shinchi told Shizune and Misha while he clapped.
"Thanks again Mr. Nomiya. I've seen you've done a couple of sketches yourself which is very nice. We would like to see the paintings done by your students." Misha praised the art teacher. Shizune walked over and began to scan the pictures of some of the students. Rin looked on nervously hoping that the picture made for Lenny wasn't discovered. Shizune turned and began signing to Misha. "The first year students have a lot to learn but progress is being made." Rin looked around a bit more before she began to whisper.
"When do you think Shizune will find my pictures?" Rin whispered to Shinchi.
"Don't know but your pictures are last according to Shizune, she always saves them for last." Shinchi whispered back to Rin. The best for last right?
"I just don't want my friend to get discovered." Rin whispered back. Shizune continued to patrol the second-year students' work before she turned and began to sign.
"Some of the second-year students are showing remarkable talent. We know a couple we would want to use." Misha told the group while Shizune removed the pictures from the frames, she had chosen those. Kenji then entered the room as he wanted to observe.
"Sorry for running late." Kenji tried to cover up the fact that he wasn't one to show up for events like these. Shizune continued to look at the pictures while moving on. "I bet Misha is one to lead the next conspiracy attack."
"Kenji be quiet." Rin whispered to Kenji to not be so loud. Kenji looked onward as Rin felt the intensity only grow from there. One of her stubby little arms began to twitch. Shizune continued to scan the paintings as she was looking for the best ones. She turned and began to sign to Misha.
"Third year students are showing their true colors. This is going to be an excellent year. Last but not least is the favorite of the group Rin Tezuka." Misha told the group as Shizune was removing her favorites. Rin had made several pictures in a few days, and they were all being presented to Shizune. Shizune looked onward as Rin's stubby arm continued to twitch faster. She didn't know what Misha was going to say or find. Shizune turned and she began to sign. "I like that picture, the one with the falling Yen. What does it represent?" Shizune took the picture off so it was going to be presented.
"Going broke." Rin decided to put it bluntly. She knew she needed to keep her tongue pinned, she didn't want to give anything away. "So far so good." Rin whispered to herself. Her face was growing purple as she didn't want to give herself away even if it meant not breathing. If Kenji did and he gave the location of where Lenny was, it would be game over for them.
"You seem pretty tense there, miss Tezuka, are you that nervous?" Shinchi asked Rin if there was anything she was nervous about.
"Yeah, it's that painting I did yesterday, what if someone finds it and gives out all the information. Kenji isn't reliable at all when it comes to keeping his mouth shut." Rin replied to Shinchi about why she was keeping it a secret. "He told me to cover it up, so it doesn't get discovered." Shizune continued to patrol while she took the last painting from Rin and Misha began speaking with her own gratitude.
"That's all for today. We will come around next week to pick the second round of paintings for the upcoming festival." Misha announced. Shizune however wasn't going anywhere as she spotted something in the corner being obstructed by the other paintings. "Wait, Shizune has found something else that has caught her attention." Shizune dragged out the canvas, which was made yesterday by Rin, the sunrise canvas she had made for Lenny. Rin knew it was only a matter of time before Lenny's cover was blown.
"Oh no." Rin muttered to herself. Shizune placed the picture onto one of the stands as she began to examine it.
"Shizune says she lights the lighting and the picture's complexity despite the simplistic idea. It looks really well made though we don't know if Rin made this for someone special." Misha gave everyone what Shizune was trying to say. Rin felt nervous, no one dared to open their mouths if they were going to stick to their plan. Her stubby arms began to twitch again as if she was beginning to sweat. "Who did she intend to give this picture to?" Kenji decided to read the signature and whom he had listened to from his dorm neighbor Hisao.
"She intended to give it to Lenny Hirahi." Kenji blurted out. Rin looked at him with fright, he had blown it all away. Shizune felt a bit excited as Misha walked over to Kenji. Shizune continued to sign while Rin was ready to head out of the room to tell Emi to get Lenny and get him somewhere safe.
"Where can we find him?" Misha asked Kenji if he had any ideas on where they could find Lenny.
"He's in the library when I last saw him, he was hanging out with Hisao, Hanako and Lilly." Kenji told Misha who in turn, signed with Shizune. Shizune had a devious smirk on her face. She began to rapidly sign to Misha.
"Okay we're going to be on our way, Mr. Nomiya, pack the pictures we've picked out, we're heading to the library next." Misha gave the orders to the art teacher to pack up the chosen paintings, but Rin was already out the door. She went over to Emi who was the fastest girl in the entire school.
"Lenny's cover has been blown, Shizune must be on her way to the library, get Lenny out of there and hide him in your dorm for the time being. Get going and get his friends out, I'll have them stay at my dorm." Rin gives Emi the directions she needs in order to keep Lenny from the nose of the student president.
"I'm off." Emi told Rin, she turned and took off like a rocket and headed for the library, Rin followed behind as the two girls seemed to be panicking. Hopefully Shizune was going to take her sweet time packing the paintings up so they could evacuate Lenny and his friends.
Back in the library, Hanako was playing chess against Lenny. Lenny was clearly losing against Hanako who had managed to get the upper hand in all of this match. Lilly and Hisao were chatting away on the side as Yuuko came to visit.
"Lenny seems to be the friendly type around here, much like Emi." Yuuko began.
"Unlike Emi, Lenny is pretty calm, he's not as infectious as Emi in terms of being nice, but he's slowly getting his bearings around here." Hisao nodded while Yuuko began speaking again.
"Nice kid I might say." Yuuko replied. "I wonder if I can find books that will suit his interests."
"Wait, you know Lenny likes science fiction?" Hisao asked Yuuko. He wasn't so sure about Yuuko figuring out Lenny's secrets.
"Yeah, I heard you, if I find any movies or books that he will be interested in, I will give them to you." Yuuko told Hisao that she was willing to give the newcomer whatever he pleased if he was going to return it in the end.
"That's nice to hear about. I guess we should continue trying to do everything to make Lenny feel at home." Hisao nodded with approval, he smiled a bit as Hanako was the next to speak.
"So Lenny, why do you like this Ender Wiggen so much?" Hanako asked. Lenny began to think, he was having trouble thinking of two things at once, what his next move was going to be and Hanako's question. He began to think as he decided to answer.
"Well that's kind of a hard one to answer, I mean one should try using everything to your advantage when it comes to this. I don't know if I've been going easy on you or you're just good and I'm relatively new?" Lenny asked. He was trying to figure out what to do with his remaining chess pieces, well he had nothing to lose so might as well think of a new plan.
"You're just as clueless as me sometimes. I think I'd have to read your books if I can get copies of them." Hanako expressed to Lenny that she could wish to read the stuff he was reading. Lenny moved the knight to take out the rook that was threatening his king. He just had made a move that was going to save him for the moment but for Hanako all she needed to do was adapt and make her next move.
"Don't worry Hanako, I've already taken a look at the books that Lenny has and we do have them. Want me to check them out for you and I'll have them ready for you or do you want to check them out yourself." Yuuko asked Hanako if she was more than fine with checking the book out herself.
"Yeah you can check them out as I can pick them up on my way out." Hanako told Yuuko. Yuuko nodded and headed off to get the books that Hanako could be interested in reading. Hanako turned back to the chess game as she was going to make her finishing move on Lenny. Sensing that the king was cornered, she decided to move in for the kill. Hanako moves her queen in as she then takes out the last remaining knight. For Lenny, he had nowhere else to go.
"Checkmate." Hanako told Lenny. Lenny had been beaten by Hanako. Hanako had managed to easily outsmart Lenny like a fox and a rabbit.
"I guess I'm not a genius like Ender?" Lenny asked. He had put up the best fight he could even if Hanako found a way to defeat him in the end.
"Possibly so, I think you're trying to have fun, but you had no straightforward plan, I was able to beat you today." Hanako told Lenny while she had fun beating him at chess. "Shall we try again?" Hanako asked. But before Lenny could say yes, Emi came barreling into the room as she had news for Lenny.
"Lenny pack your things and you're coming with me. Shizune has found out where you are." Emi told Lenny as she wasn't out of breath despite how sweaty she was.
"Where am I going?" Lenny asked Emi, he was completely confused by the fact that Emi was dragging him off. He got up and grabbed his packed bag. He slung it over his shoulder while Hanako, Hisao and Lilly watched with confusion.
"Woah what's going on?" Lilly asked as she was alarmed by this and needed to find out why Emi was taking them. Hanako was busy packing the chess game up as Emi was tugging Lenny by his arm.
"Shizune and Misha found out where he was and now the only logical thing to do is to hide him away." Emi explained. She then turned to Lenny and began to speak to him. "You're going to be staying inside of my dorm for the time being. I want to make sure you stay hidden. Follow me." Emi instructed Lenny where he was going. She grabbed his hand and began to pull him away, she made sure not to go too fast in case Lenny ended up having another black out from exhaustion. Within moments they left the room as Yuuko cleaned up the chess game. Rin came in next as she gathered everyone else.
"Okay everyone, you're coming with me." Rin instructed them. Hisao, Hanako and Lilly followed Rin as she was bringing them to her dorm. They all left the room as Yuuko was putting the chess game away. Yuuko was looking out at her room after quickly handing Hanako the books she had found and let her borrow them. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry and they knew why.
A couple of minutes would pass as the doors opened to reveal Shizune, Misha and Kenji looking all over for Lenny, although they had plans to come here, they were mainly coming for one person. They looked around but they couldn't find him anywhere.
"Where is he?" Misha asked while she scanned the room, he was nowhere to be seen. "Kenji told us he was here, and he must've disappeared like magic into thin air." Misha and Shizune were surprised, how could Lenny know they were coming? He took off the moment that they were approaching with his friends. Shizune signed something to Misha as it was for Kenji. "You're purely unreliable Kenji." Misha told him with annoyance.
"I didn't know that Hisao had runners, Rin just left the moment I told you where he was. Feminists were faster than I was able to account for." Kenji tried to justify his reasoning. Their one chance was gone. Shizune made a couple of quick signs to Misha who decided to translate for her.
"There are no feminists." Misha told Kenji as she was rather bothered by this. Kenji was making up nonsense that no one wanted to hear.
Lenny and Emi had run to Emi's dorm room as Lenny was exhausted, his heart monitor was flashing nicely as he was getting a workout. Emi got the key to her dorm and opened it. The door opened and they entered inside.
Katawa Shoujo- Hokabi
"You're surprisingly nimble, you're definitely working on your stamina." Emi complimented Lenny. Lenny got out his water canteen from his bag and tried to drink from it, but it was empty.
"I'm out of water and I'm tired, got any bottles of water on you that I can drink?" Lenny asked Emi if she had any water bottles that he could use. Emi smiled as she was more inclined to help him out.
"Sure thing." Emi told Lenny, she popped open her mini fridge and got out a water bottle. Lenny took the bottle, opened it and began to drink it. "Keep working out every day and you'll be half as fast as me."
"So, you're the fastest student in the school?" Lenny asked while he was drinking his water. Lenny was breathing for air as he wanted to try to cool himself off.
"You got that right." Emi replied. "I'm the fastest thing with no legs." Lenny laughed as he continued to drink the water. This was the first time he had laughed in a long while especially for a person with his condition. He looked around at Emi's room and she had a beautiful room. "I have a track meeting coming up on Monday and I need to use all the opportunities I have to train."
"Your room is beautiful, I didn't know that you liked everything orange." Lenny complimented Emi. Emi heard this before blinking one of her green eyes.
"Well thank you, my mother chose it as my favorite color is too gloomy for my personality, so we went with something that matched me." Emi chirped with her excitement. Lenny finished his water bottle before getting up and putting the bottle into the garbage pail.
"What's your favorite color?" Lenny asked Emi.
"That I can't tell you." Emi told Lenny as she too wasn't ready to give any secrets to him. Lenny decided to turn away for a moment but Emi decided to play some tricks on him before Lenny turned around, Emi was nowhere to be seen.
"Emi, where have you gone off to?" Lenny asked her as he didn't know her location. He looked around to see where his cheerful friend was going. He got onto Emi's bed while looking around for her and when he was in the right spot. Slap! Emi had slapped him with a pillow. Lenny fell onto the bed where Emi was looking up at Lenny.
"Ass." Emi responded. Lenny laughed as he was too tired from today to really fight back against Emi. She had all the freedom to walk all over him if she wished. Emi looked at Lenny while curling up with him. "I certainly had a lot of fun with you today and you just make me smile." Emi giggled while she was patting Lenny's blonde hair.
"You certainly did." Lenny yawned as he didn't know if he wanted to take a nap here or go back to his dorm, get a couple things done and call it a day. "I'm so tired." Lenny admitted, today must've been exhausting for him. Emi looked at Lenny.
"Tired?" Emi asked while she had removed her prosthetic legs and neatly placed them near the bed. She crawled back up to Lenny and cuddled him.
"Yeah I am. You wore me out today." Lenny replied. He was beginning to doze off while Emi had him huddled around her.
"I'll keep wearing you as the days go by. You'll get better and I'll train you harder." Emi promised that she was going to keep pushing him. She felt Lenny falling asleep in her arms. Emi just rested her head on his neck. This was the start of something truly beautiful for him. Emi decided to lay down as well, Lenny's head was on her body while he slept. Emi began to think, was he always this tired? She needed to get him to be more active if he was going to improve himself. Emi stated his head while thinking, she needed to keep trying.
Lenny woke up a half hour later, still tired but he had been partially recharged thanks to Emi. He was more or less ready to head back.
"Well, I'm going to head back to my dorm, it was nice taking a nap with you Emi." Lenny told Emi that he enjoyed his time with her. He grabbed his bag and headed out the door.
"Hey, no problem there. Take care." Emi smiled at Lenny as she was going to see him for the weekend, she was ready to begin pushing him further.
Lenny returned to his dorm and showered up for the night. He made sure to get more water and he took his medication for the night. After the run in with Emi, the long marathon-like race and avoiding Shizune had tired him out. Once he changed, he went over to his bed and called it a night there. He fell asleep on the bed after shutting the lights. To Lenny, Emi was a lot of fun being around.
'Well we have a weekend to ourselves, maybe we should figure out what will work. Sweet, friendly Emi."
[A/N]: Woo getting the fourth chapter done and now I will probably make use of the weekends as a means of developing the characters more, hopefully the aim should be thirty or so chapters in their four acts. Giving the characters additional room for development was something I considered. And yes some characters will get extra scenes instead of the odd line and appearance or two. Hopefully if I get the first act finished and things go strong, I will do the remaining three acts. See you later. Goodbye.
