A/n As always I don't Own anything, I am just playing in the wonderful sandboxes provided by Star Wars and its owners, along with Harry Potter and those who own it. It is a very fun sandbox.
I want to point out the timeframe. They arrived roughly 5 years before The Battle of Geonosis. I also want to point out that if some things don't add up to canon timeline, I apologize but that's why I tried to leave the exact date a bit ambiguous. If there is something big that you have seen in the previous chapters that really argues against this, please point it out to me.
This chapter has a good bit of after effects from the last chapter. Reactions and fall outs and so forth. As such there will be a few POV changes. I could have done this in the last chapter, but I try to keep chapters to around 4k-5k of actual story telling. There is a reason for that.
I also Realize that some people dont like the jump around, but with everything that happened, it needs to be gone over. I feel it helps me to keep this story solid, on a set path, and helps me to keep it flowing without having to go back and make something up just to fit the story because i forgot some point here or there. You see each character as they develop and I hope it builds every character up into better character development.
Chapter 7
1 year after the battle of Geonosis, 6 years after arrival in the galaxy.
Coruscant, Chancellor's office
Chancellor Palpatine looked around at his office that he was barely holding onto. Geonosis had happened and caused a major issue that he was still dealing with the fallout of. The CIS being, in essence, invaded by their own military of droids had been more than humiliating. The fact that they were so effective at not only taking the planets in the systems, removing leadership, especially as they mainly only removed leadership that was corrupt in some form or fashion and would have been loyal to him, had been inspiring yet infuriating. Then there were the blockades. The army of the republic did not have a good showing at all since they were shown to the galaxy.
When the droids had shut down, the Republic military had taken a wait and see approach, especially as they had lost a good chunk of their forces and needed to rebuild. Of course, the plea for humanitarian efforts from the Republic by the CIS had sparked a huge debate. He thought he could get things back on track, behind the door deals, a nudge here or a push there, and soft uses of force compulsions, and he had several senators doing his whims again. Nothing would ever come back on him, there were no ties. The problem was when those assault droids that he had only ever seen in historical images attacked the senate.
HIS SENATORS WERE ALL DEAD! News had been leaked that they all had ties to either slavery, illegal spice trade, pirates, assassinations, bribery, extortion, or any other lists of crimes. No two were the same, many overlapped. So whoever had sent the droids couldn't even really be prosecuted because, somehow, they had bounties on their heads with enough evidence it couldn't be disputed. Technically, the bounties shouldn't have been placed without a criminal trial, but some loophole had allowed it.
Whoever had claimed the bounties had taken the lesser pay option of dead on the dead or alive contract, but it didn't matter. They had used a legal loophole that no one had known about and according to records, the last time it was used was over 8000 years ago. It had just never been removed from the books. So here he was, in his office reeling from failed plan after failed plan, attack after attack, and he couldn't blame anyone. He had even tried to blame the Jedi, and that had blown up in his face.
And now, questions where being asked if the Russan reformations had led to the decline of the number of Jedi. And then Yoda spoke to the senate
Flashback
"Stretched the Jedi are. Stretched we have been for centuries. Recruit we do, but numbers, never have we had since reformations. Agreed the jedi did, so many, to the dark side we lost in the war. Questioned then as we do now, was it war that turned them? Loss, anger, hate. These to the darkside do they lead. Jedi Clans there were. Sunriders example they are. Strong they where, powerful. 100 members at one time. Other clans lost to time, to war, and finally, to Russan Reformation. Many ancient arts lost have been. Techniques on healing, training, and more. Gain them back, time it would take."
Looking around and seeing everyone focusing on him. "Restrained we are. Reformation sets what learn we can, what abilities we can train, how to train younglings, what research we do." Shaking his head sadly. "Never before, question I did. Question now, I do. Convene the Jedi must, move forward we must. Decide, you must, if reformation, we follow still. Decide we must, if agree we do."
Flashback End
The opinions were all over the place now. The biggest consensus though seemed to be that if the reformations didn't exist, then there would be more jedi, the CIS wouldn't have happened, corruption would be lower, and so forth. On the other hand, he was being blamed for the CIS leaving, questions were being asked about where the army came from, who paid for it and why, and more. These were things he didn't need to or want to deal with. He was supposed to be leading a war from both sides, and when the Jedi were weak enough, the republic and the CIS tired enough of war, he would strike and raise his empire.
Now it seemed a far reaching dream. Looking at his schedule, he gathered himself. It was time for another meeting in the senate, and hoped he could keep them from calling for the vote of no confidence.
Coruscant, Jedi Temple, Council chambers
They sat around still trying to figure out what to actually do. They had been attacked, two younglings taken, the archives were still in a scramble, and they had a report saying something was missing from the vault, but no one knew what. Not going into the fact that the security system said the door was never opened. Mace Windu looked around and after clearing his throat. "Again, the decision on Skywalker is postponed. After all that has happened, we can not truly make a decision. I do emphasize though, that one should be made, and propose that the three masters not on the council be given the duty of choosing and implementing a proper punishment. The fact that there has not even been a tribunal after a year is disturbing." Everyone nodded along. It really was their best choice. "Then it is decided. I will select three masters to handle this situation."
Shaak Ti looked around and signaled she wished to speak. After receiving confirmation she posed her questions. "Has there been any word at all about the location of Ahsoka Tano and Barriss Offee? For that matter, do we have any idea why he would take those two and not others? With a teleportation like ability, which is all I can really call it, why only those two?" Many saw how the loss of the two younglings had really grated on her. She was one of the masters who spent a good bit of time around the younglings, helping with history or saber styles, really anything they needed help with.
It was also well known that she had been considering taking Tano as her padawan when she was older. Part of the reason had been because they were both Togruta and as such, there were some cultural and evolutionary things she could help her with. The other thing, though no one really knew this as she had, not hidden it, but had not mentioned it, was that she and Ahsoka were cousins. Something like 3rd cousins or such. She truly felt she could train her properly.
"Information on them, there is little. Information on suspected ship, little there is." Yoda answered. It wasn't a welcome answer, but the truth was there. Plo-Koon looked at the others bringing up a holographic ship in the center of the room. "The ship's name, according to the ID code it sent and the audio recording is Versteckte Klinge. I ran it through the Coruscant Securities language database, something they had not done as they had no reason to, and it came back as meaning The Hidden Blade." His deep voice, slightly altered by the mask he was required to wear, was full of concern.
"Master Plo-Koon, would you care to elaborate why you looked at this specific ship?" Mace Windu inquired. It seemed a far stretch, and as alarming as the name sounded, many ships from many cultures had odd names. "Of course. There are three reasons. First, I contacted Coruscant security to see if I could have a list of all the ships that were not military or other vetted ships that entered the atmosphere on the day of. Although they could hide themselves, I felt that it was best to check close to the time of the event as opposed to further back." As he looked around, he could see many nodding their heads.
"I then removed several ships as they were registered to certain people or governments, such as the passenger cruiser from Corellia. As such, I was able to narrow down to 12 ships that fit the basic criteria. The second reason though that I believe this ship was carrying the sith, was that I further narrowed it down based on where they landed. Four of these 12 ships landed within a close distance to the temple. Finally, At the end of the attack, this ship is the only one that launched and left before order could be restored. As such, it is reasonable to assume they had something to do with the attack, especially if we assume that all of the sith have a way to teleport as was seen by the disappearing padawans." It was good logic. It left a lot of questions, but gave them something to look into.
"Excuse me, but can you enhance this image?" Obi-Wan was looking at it. Like something was niggling at the back of his mind. After it was enlarged, Yoda looked at him, "Something you see?" Obi-Wan simply shook his head no before slowly answering. "I do not know master. It feels like I should know this ship, or rather its style, but…. I don't know." "Meditate on this you should. Our roles we have, training there is to do. Many thoughts there is and debates to be had. Senate, debate to remove the reformation, it does. Our own view, we should have.
Jedi Temple, Yoda's private room
Yoda sat in his chamber having meditated most of the afternoon. The force was still heavily clouded with the dark side of the force, but it was not as oppressive as it had been. Perhaps it is better to say getting worse it is not. Ever since the attack, he had felt a little less sure of himself, a little less confident in his decisions. He had quickly found a foreign thought in his mind, however, he had studied it before destroying it. It had only one statement, something he had not heard in a long time. Dark does not mean evil, just as Light does not mean good.
He did not believe that, nor did he think it had any true meaning. No, excuse to commit evil this is, excuse to destroy it is. No other way they say. Yoda had seen many go down that road. The question though was how to deal with this information. He knew someone was trying to send a message. The question though was why. He also wondered if it wasn't meant to distract him. There were several more, but they were all linked to these two.
The other worrying thing for him was the pure number of the sith. To have so many they could assault the temple, among the other things they did, was worrying to say the least. What was even more worrying was how the sith were able to keep up in combat, and usage of force abilities. It was almost as if they were using a gestalt, as if the whole attack was nothing more than a diversion. If so, what was the real goal? What was taken from the vault, and how had it been taken? Few answers, and each brings more questions. Refocusing on his meditations, he settled down for a long night.
Jedi prison cells
Anakin had just finished his talk with Obi-Wan. Like usual, he had been lectured about how he had abused his powers. Like usual, he could see the disappointment, but unlike usual, he accepted it this time. He knew they where trying, in one form or another, to redeem him, or what have you. It wasn't until that attack, the waves of negative energy that had reached his cell, that he started to understand what he nearly became.
Flashback
Skywalker was in his cell meditating. He was still angry at everything. It wasn't as bad as it had been, but still. He was the Chosen One, so why shouldn't he have a few extra perks. For crying out loud, he didn't have a father, he was a vergence in the force, the force itself was his father. He couldn't go dark, and anything he did was the same as being done by the force. Not that anyone ever listened to him. He knew, just knew, he was as strong as Master Yoda in force ability, and as good as Master Windu in his lightsaber combat. Sure, he had been told by others that he still had much to learn, but he didn't truly believe it.
He went rigid, feeling the waves of energy pouring through the temple. It was huge, powerful, but worst of all, it was all dark side energy. He could feel it, the power he would gain from just reaching out to it. All he had to do was touch it, and they wouldn't be able to hold him. And for the first time since he was a child, he was scared. Something was wrong. He felt his senses reaching out, he felt the pull, he knew he shouldn't, he was a jedi, he knew he should and could resist. The temptation was right there. "Guard!" He yelled. Quickly getting attention from the two knights watching over him. He realized he must have a frantic look on his face. He could feel the sweat on his forehead.
He had to hold out just a little longer, "S…Stun… Me" The effort to not give in was tremendous. He didn't see the guard's eyes go wide, he didn't see him nod. The world simply went black.
Flashback End
He had been questioned about it after by others, his response was always the same. I am not dark, I am not evil. I refuse to let it get a hold of me. He had been scared at how easily it seemed to work its way into him. Since then, he had focused heavily on his meditations, focused heavily on the code. He still believed he should have been given leeway, allowed a relationship for a woman he harbored a crush on since he was a kid. But, perhaps, he could admit that he had gone about it the wrong way. He would have to talk to others, maybe he could get a new viewpoint. He wouldn't admit he was wrong yet, no. But he could try to see it from others' viewpoints. That was at least worth doing.
Satine Kryze was the leader of the Mandalorian people. Some referred to her as Duchess or as Mandalore, and by their title usage, she usually had a good idea of what they might want. She missed her sister though. Though Bo Katan had been born after her, Satine had a twin sister that had disappeared when they were very young. She remembered a build up of light and noise, the wind whipping around. She had been thrown to the ground, and when she woke up later, she found that her sister had disappeared.
She missed her with a vengeance. The report claimed it was a terrorist attack meant to target the whole family. Though no one had been able to really decide what had happened, not even the Jedi when they came to investigate. It had also put Satine as the next head, something she still felt to this day she was not suited for. Especially on days like today. Her and Bo where arguing again. Again it was Bo stating they needed to do something about Death Watch, and her refusing to raise arms against terrorists. It was getting heated.
"Bo, if we fight back, how many people will be harmed? How many families will be torn apart? How many siblings will be …." trailing off as a tear fell from her eyes, her arms wrapped around herself. Bo had stopped at the last part. She still blames herself for that. Damn. Bo raised her hands in a surrendering fashion, and took a couple of breaths to calm down. "Satine, I'm sorry. I …. I should know how you feel about that by now." She stopped and looked over at her sister. "Look, I get it. And for the record, I am not advocating war mongering or charging off to battle for no reason. What I am advocating is three fold." holding up her hands again to stop any argument. "Please hear me out, Satine. Please, that's all I am asking." Satine looked at her, and after a moment's hesitation, nodded her head.
They were in the garden, so she sat down on one of the benches and motioned for her to sit as well. After a minute, Bo spoke up. "Look, I don't agree with everything your trying to do. We have a rich history, but that history is also filled with the loss of life and families going extinct. With everything going on though in the Galaxy, the CIS, the army of the republic, the public executions of the senators, though corrupt, and the attack on the Jedi temple by what we can only assume are Sith, we need some type of actual defensive force. I am not saying build a army or anything, not really. But warriors from each clan, working together, under your Aegis. Their role would simply be to patrol our space and deal with pirates, slavers, that sort of thing. A ground force that is dedicated to protecting you and select others. Have rules set for when they can use non-lethal or lethal maneuvers." She took a breath and looked at Satine.
Satine was warring with her emotions. Yes, they did need something, but she was worried it would bring more harm than good. She really hated being in this position at times. "Bo, I get it. And… I will consider those options. A defensive patrol force for Mandalorian space is…. Acceptable, considering what is happening. I don't like it. But, I suppose I can't really argue against it. But the clans will each give equally. I will not have one clan claiming superiority and running off to Force knows where on some vendetta. That's another thing. Blood Feuds and such. Any such things need to be arbitrated. No need to have people killing each other off for some perceived insult or who took the last bread roll." Bo nodded along. It would be hard but she had a base idea. "If we make the defense force a… something like a position of honor, refusing a particular clan or clans entrance until matters are solved, equitably, that could be a big driving force. You would in essence be saying 'you are right now not worthy of defending the people' would be a huge blow."
They continued to talk back and forth. Satine didn't like all the fighting, but she agreed, though very reluctantly, that the people needed protection. Her plans, as well thought as they were, were causing problems for the economy and many clans. And if they can't protect themselves, it may get even worse. Death Watch was a prime example, and as such, giving a little would, most likely, take their legs out from underneath them. Just as they were getting ready to go get food, as it had been a long discussion, the room seemed to start vibrating. The wind picked up, and a light seemed to start growing.
Flashing back to what happened as a child, Satine jumped to Bo and tackled her. "I won't lose another sibling!" She screamed. The wind kicked up the dirt and dust in the area, the garden bushes and trees swayed around and some branches snapped in the gust. The light grew larger and brighter, forcing her and the guards that had run into the room to cover their eyes. The room seemed to be trembling with an unknown power, until it climaxed. A loud bang was heard as three bodies seemed to drop out the air.
They were crumpled in a heap, and seemed to be barely stirring. Bo and Satine both looked as the guards rushed into the room and stood between them and the newcomers. Bo had drawn her blasters and was pointing it at the group. "Captain, be prepared to take The Mandalore and run, if I say to. I give this order as the head warrior of clan Kryze." The captain, a tall man, simply nodded.
That's when they heard the voices. "Susan, get off of me." "I'd love to Daph, but seeing as your ass is pinning my chest down, I don't think it's me on you." came a second voice, both obviously female. "Quiet, both of you." Came a 3rd voice, this one obviously male and a bit older than the other two. After they had disentangled themselves, they stood up, looking around. It was the first voice, a female as had been surmised with blond hair and icy blue eyes that noticed them first. "Susan, Lord Black, I believe we are not alone." They saw a stick in her hand, pointed down, much like one would a blade. Something tells me its not just a stick. Bo thought to herself.
The second girl had turned to them as well. Beyond the stick in her hand as well, they could see she was a redhead, with brown eyes. They seemed wary of them, and Bo also noticed that she seemed to slip into a fighting stance. Not aggressive, but ready to respond. Came the next thought came. Finally, the male turned to them. He took a half step in front of the girls, not a parent, no familial resemblance to the other two, was Bo's next thought. He had black hair, an aristocratic look to his high cheekbones and other features, and his eyes seemed to be gray. And then he stumbled a bit. He was looking at Bo straight in the eyes, and whispered a name that neither Bo nor Satine had spoken out loud in a long time. A name that they had once cherished and loved. "Lily?"
Sith hidden planet
Harry and Hermione were leading their two apprentices through basic meditations designed to help them find their magical core. It had taken some time for them to come around, but with the help of the force ghost of Satelle Shan, someone whom Ahsoka had secretly admired and looked up to based on her initial questioning and squees, the two apprentices had started basic training. It was a mix of meditation for finding their magical cores. After they where able to find it, the next step would be to understand the difference between the feeling of the force and the feeling of magic.
They still helped them exercise and there were other things they were learning. Math, science, navigation, and more. But most of it was being done in the way of games. Ahsoka was the more outgoing of the two, and was very active. Barriss on the other hand was more introverted and loved to just sit and read. The similarities between them and Harry and Hermione when they were at school was striking. A wave through the force caught them all off guard. "Harry, did you…" "Yes Hermione. I don't know what, but whatever it was, it felt both as the force, and as magic."
"Some help has come, and I hope you are willing to accept it. It is time to move onto the true second phase of the plan." Came the voice of Darth Vectivus. He was standing behind them with a smirk on his face. "Yes, things are about to get interesting."
Chapter End
A/N
Ok, first off, I think its obvious, but Lily Potter is not, I repeat NOT, Bo Katan. Next chapter will have a much larger focus on Harry and Hermione, and a bit of a reveal on 'THE PLAN' i know I haven't really given much on it, but there is a reason. I wanted some build up.
Next chapter will also explain how the three new comers got there, why their there and more. There is a big deal coming. The next chapter may be a good bit longer, but if it is too much longer, I will break it up into two chapters.
Finally, we are building up to the next fight, the first real meeting of the jedi and the new sith, and also what will happen to anakin. We will also get some more on Padme next chapter. Again, I want to point out, this chapter had some jumping around, but it was necessary to move certain parts of this story in the direction I wanted and to give the reactions I felt should be viewed.
