Duo Halfbreeds
Chapter Five: The Bloodbath Colosseum
Raditz yanked Gohan out of his pod and threw him across the ground, causing him to roll against the ground. "You stupid little brat! Do you realize what you cost us?! Costed me!" He yelled.
Gohan pushed himself up, giving a slight groan in pain as he saw Raditz approach him. Gohan froze and shook intensely before being kicked in the gut which sent him flying for thirty yards before slamming against a tree.
Gohan weakly rolled over to his side, his consciousness began to fade and intense pain jolted through his entire body, mainly his back. His eyes stayed open despite how heavy they quickly became and seeing Raditz come closer he wanted to hide but instead the only thing he could do was sit there.
Raditz picked Gohan up by the collar of his arm, an angry snarl formed on his face. "I've wasted too much time and money on a piece of shit like you!" He growled. "After I drop you off at The Bloodbath Colosseum, you can stay there and die for all I care but you are no longer my problem."
Raditz flipped around with Gohan still in his grip and threw Gohan back thirty yards, stopping closely by his pod. Once Raditz caught up, he grabbed Gohan and shoved him in the pod, closed the hatch, then got in his own pod.
Raditz set a new destination on his pod and a short moment later both pods took off simultaneously.
A few days later, Raditz arrives on a small dwarf planet, this planet looked almost as if it was terraformed and it was practically desolate. On one end there was a massive Colosseum, enough to fit hundreds of thousands of viewers.
On the other end, there was a large smooth reinforced stone structure that had multiple towers surrounding it. The structure also had fence wiring on the top of its walls and a large metal gate. This was the structure that the two pods also landed near.
Raditz's pod landed first with Gohan's landing shortly after. Once Raditz got out of his pod he walked over to Gohan's pod as the hatch opened, and instantly generated ki cuffs around Gohan's wrist and feet before the young halfbreed could even get out of his pod.
"Get up." Raditz said. He looked impatient and irritable. Gohan was hesitant and opened his mouth to speak but Raditz interrupted. "I said. Get Up." Gohan swallowed hard and got up quickly, following Raditz as he walked towards a door made of metal fence material. There were several guards around the area as well as around the prison itself and in the tower
The walls by the door were also metal fences with fence wiring on the top. Raditz pulled out a circular chip from his pocket and swiped it through a terminal attached to a keypad. The thing lit green a second later and the door slid open.
Raditz walked through pulling Gohan as they walked through a corridor, surrounded by the same strong fence material. Eventually they reached another door, this one was solid metal and again Raditz swiped the circular chip through another terminal. The doors opened automatically, revealing a wide open area.
The area had two halls fifteen feet forward, one on the right and one on the left. Raditz walked to the one on the left and turned right as he entered the hall, opening a door. Gohan had questions and curiosity but he was far too afraid to ask, Raditz was already as irritable as is, plus on top of it, he had a feeling he didn't want them answered.
After entering the room, there was a man, a little bit shorter than Raditz, sitting in a chair behind a desk in front of the two. The man's skin was brown, spiky, looked like it was some kind of rough hide. He had a battle suit that was shoulderpad-less and was held on by two black banded straps.
He looked surprised. "Raditz?" He said. "Might I ask what you're doing here?" He placed the scouter on his face. "You know you don't need to schedule appointments if you wish to fight, you could've gone ahead and talked to the Colosseum Owner himself."
Raditz gestured his hand and then pointed to Gohan. "I'm on other matters as you can see."
The man's face looked even more surprised. "What's with the child?" His gaze moved to Gohan, he quickly noticed a resemblance. "Is he yours?"
Raditz shook his head. "Nope. It's a long story." He answered. "And to make the long story short, I'm leaving him here."
Duran folded his hands and laid back into his seat. "Uh. Raditz, we don't accept children at this place." He pointed out. "This is one of the most secure prisons in the entire galaxy, I don't think we would even have room for him."
Raditz's gaze moved to Gohan for a second then moved back to Duran as he smirked. "I think you'll want to reconsider." He said. "You wanna bring in more views at the Colosseum don't ya? More views, more profits, more profits, more room."
Duran raised a brow but kept an impassive look. "I'm sorry but are you insinuating that this child is actually worthy of a fight?"
Raditz made a gesture to Gohan, telling him to stay put and then moved closer to Duran, sitting on the seat in front of the desk. "I'm insinuating, if you give him the time, he'll become the best fighter this colosseum has ever known."
Duran chuckled and leaned in forward. "Is this some kind of joke? Out of all fighters I've ever had here, only Prince Vegeta was capable of at such a young age." He said, his gaze moving to Gohan. "You expect me to believe that a brat that is clearly somehow related to you, is capable of the same?"
Raditz shrugged. "Who knows. I've tried training him, all he does is whine and complain." He answered. "But I've seen his potential and the only way it'll come out is if he's cornered or angered." He looked over at Gohan who was seemingly in his own thoughts. "I have a theory that if he's put in this kind of environment, he'll have no choice but to do what he needs to do to survive."
Duran moved his gaze over to Gohan then back to Raditz, taking a few seconds to think. "Let's say I put him in a spot in the Prison. The second people find out he's somewhat Saiyan, he's a goner."
Raditz turned his head back to face Duran. "And? There's no way they'll find it out quick enough. That kid is stubborn as hell, it'll definitely take him some time before he cracks." He explained. "Once they find out he's a Saiyan, it'll be too late for them or at the very least the kid will be capable of defending himself."
Duran unfolded his knuckles and leaned back in his chair. "Let me call in an escort and we can talk more privately." He pressed a button on his desk and then moved closer into what seemed to be some kind of microphone. "Putero, My Office, ASAP, I need you for a task."
A short couple of seconds later, the door opened. Standing was a man that resembled a prehistoric bird of some kind. His head was long and narrow, with a hard bone protruding at the back end. His mouth was a long yellow solid beak, he looked slim, well-built, his hands had four fingers with sharp claws.
The man had three toes with sharp claws, and a long tail with spikes along it, about three inches of space between each spike. His skin was smooth and dark red, almost like solid stone.
"What's up, Sir?" Putero asked. Duran tilted his head to the right, pointing at Gohan. Putero looked at Gohan then moved his head to look back at Duran. "You're joking right?" Duran shook his head in response. "You called me to babysit a kid?"
"I have matters to discuss with a client and I need you to watch him for a bit." Duran explained. "I mean do you really have better things to do?"
Putero gave an unamused look and sighed. "Fine." He said. "What's his name?"
Raditz yanked Gohan and gestured for him to respond, pointing at Putero. "G-Gohan." Gohan answered.
Putero examined Gohan for a second then smirked. "Nah, I like brat better." He chuckled. Gohan frowned and glared at him until Raditz yanked his chain, signaling him to stop.
"It suits him." Raditz added. "Way better than Gohan." He tossed the energy chain to Putero who was quick to grab it.
Putero opened the door and shook the chain, motioning for Gohan to move. "Come on, kid. Follow me." He turned before closing the door. "See ya, Raditz." Once the door was closed behind him he had Gohan follow him to the wide area in the building, it looked more like a lobby of some sort. "You hungry, kid?"
Gohan was unsure at first but his stomach rumbling won his thoughts over. "Y-Yes Sir."
"Don't stutter. It makes you look like a pushover and trust me, you don't wanna look like that in here." Putero replied. They moved to the door that was on south of the building, and passed the door was a large sandy yard.
Putero followed along the right of the structure, there were dozens upon dozens of cells. When Gohan looked to the right he could see dozens more, it created one massive large square that looked like it went on for nearly a couple miles.
"W-Whe." Gohan stopped himself and swallowed hard. "Where are we, Sir?"
Putero looked surprised. "You don't know?" He asked. Gohan shook his head in response. "I'd say it's better you don't know but you're gonna be spending a long time here, so I guess preparation wouldn't hurt." He stopped walking. "You're in the Galaxy's most secure prison. There are some of the most dangerous criminals and threats to the Frieza Force here."
Gohan's eyes went wide. "Cr-Criminals?!"
Putero nodded. "Though if I'm being honest that word is an understatement." He pointed out. "Prisoners from here are often sent to the Colosseum nearby where they are to fight either each other or whatever it is that the Colosseum Owner decides. The wealthy pay to see that kind of mindless violence."
"F-Fight?!" Gohan gasped.
"More or less. There's a variety of situations as to why people are here but some who are willingly come here for money or rather simply shelter, food, and water." Putero explained. "Most however are forced here and the only thing they can do is fight to survive."
Gohan frowned. "W-What if someone can't win a fight?"
Putero sighed. "You either survive or don't. Those who survive have a chance of freedom or a better life, those who don't…well its better left unsaid."
Gohan gulped. "Y-You mean…they die?!"
Putero grimaced. "Eeh…" He was hesitant. "Not exactly… All fights are deathmatches but there are those who refuse to kill and often those fighters are punished. Usually the loser is determined to death anyways but there are some circumstances where that isn't the case."
Gohan tilted his head. "What happens to the Winner that refuse?"
"Suffice to say…he's punished severely." Putero replied. "Look, kid, don't worry about it right now. Let's go eat some lunch."
Gohan nodded and frowned in response, his gaze moving back to the hundreds of cells. He turned his head forward when they started walking up some stairs, after two flights, they turned to a large door. Past this door was a massive, clean, shiny, cafeteria, with possibly the best smells Gohan has smelled in awhile.
These wonderful smells made it hard to think about what he was recently told and it only made his stomach louder in rumble. As they moved in closer Gohan could see several aisles in the cafeteria where several different, what clearly were guards, serving food on their own trays.
Putero grabbed two trays as they reached the end of one aisle and handed one to Gohan. "Here you go." He said. "Pick whatever you want, just don't go crazy."
Gohan's face lit up. "Really?" He replied. Putero nodded in response and Gohan had to admit it was a bit overwhelming. There were so many exotic kinds of food but it didn't matter to him, it looked good, it smelled good, and he was starving. Every time his Uncle would make him eat, it was some nasty gray slop.
"So he's your Nephew, huh?" Duran had a surprised look on his face. Raditz nodded in response. "He'll get killed if we let him in the prison, let alone fight in that Colosseum."
Raditz shrugged. "Then we'll know if he's a waste of time or not. It's simple, he either survives or doesn't."
Duran sighed and raised his shoulders. "Okay but where's the catch?"
Raditz raised a brow. "Catch? What do you mean?"
"Come on, you don't expect me to believe that Prince Vegeta would be fine with nearly letting one of the remaining Saiyans be in a spot where he could die?" Duran pointed out. "I mean what does Lord Frieza think of this?"
"Prince Vegeta could care less." Raditz answered. "He's a halfbreed, a disgrace to the race. If he survives and becomes useful, then he'll be valuable, otherwise he's useless to us. As for Lord Frieza." His gaze moved elsewhere. "He doesn't know yet."
Duran's eyes widened. "You haven't told Lord Frieza? Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Raditz gestured his hand. "Sh! No, of course not! But you know the deal when meeting him!" He explained. "That brat goes in there, he won't survive the encounter, on top of it, Vegeta and I will be severely punished."
"You'll be severely punished if you don't report to him immediately." Duran said.
Raditz raised his shoulders. "I mean..yeah but not like we have a choice. We'll report to him when the time is right." He replied. "As for right now, I could care less about the brat, he ain't my problem anymore." Raditz stood up. "I'll be going now, the brat ended up costing me all of my money."
"Well see ya then.."
As Raditz opened the door he stopped. "Oh and if the kid asks or even mentions it. Be sure to let him know his home planet and family is gone."
Duran stood up and nodded. "Of course."
Several minutes later, after Gohan was done. Putero escorted Gohan back to the room, with Raditz having already left, this meant Gohan was escorted to the actual prison. Putero went through the south door again, entering the large yard.
He took Gohan to the northeast side and went past an open doorway. This doorway opened them to a hall of more cells, which Putero walked to the left side of til they were near the end. There was an empty cell third to last on the left side.
Putero opened the cell and motioned for Gohan to go in there. Gohan was hesitant, walking after a few seconds and turning as the door was closed behind him. At the same time his energy cuffs dissipated.
"In about an hour, all of the Cell doors will automatically open up and you can get some yard time." Putero said, looking at his wrist. He looked back at Gohan. "Word of advice though, don't get in the wrong crowd and choose your friends wisely." He walked away and disappeared from sight.
Gohan turned to look at his cell, there was a sink off to the right back corner and a toilet to the left. His bed was right next to him, it looked hard and very uncomfortable. Having nothing to do, he sat on the bed and sighed heavily.
He resisted the urge to cry but every second became increasingly harder as he realized more and more how alone he was. He could see a couple of empty cells in front of him, and several other cells full. He knew if he cried he'd be a target but he gave up and didn't care.
As the hour passed, Gohan decided to stay in his cell then go outside. However…other inmates made it clear that wasn't going to be possible. Two particular inmates stood in front of Gohan's cell with wicked smirks formed on their faces.
"Well well what do we have here?" One said. This guy had a military-cut styled hair, he was slightly bulky and wide, about the tallest between the two with a height of five feet and eleven inches. His skin was gray and had only black pants and black boots on. He looked at the one next to him.
Next to him was someone who resembled an anklyosaurus but in humanoid form. His tail was long and thick, had sharp spines along it and a tip that was almost like a mace. The tip also had stone like spikes all around it.
"Look at his face!" He shouted. "Soft and fleshy!" He laughed while giving a teasing pinch to his face. Which caused Gohan to yelp from the rough hide. "You'll be a goner in no time!" The man had three large thick fingers and had short thick toes. His back was plated with the same spines on it as his tail.
"Careful, ya might snap his face off, Keylo!" The first one chuckled.
Keylo snickered. "Oh relax Van, I was bein gentle." He turned back to face Gohan. "I bet his whole race is like that, disgustingly soft and flesh, probably weak like him too." Van nodded in agreement.
Gohan glared at the two. "Leave me alone, I'm in my cell."
The two laughed again. "Seems the kid doesn't know how it works here!" Van said. "Look kid, you're at the bottom of the ladder here as the new guy, and as the new guy you should be quick to learn that you must do as the rest of us say or else."
"Why?" Gohan asked. "I'll just stay in here and that way I won't bother anyone."
Keylo shook his head. "No no, you can't hide in here. You have to come out to the yard and greet everybody or we'll force you to!" He answered. "So decide now."
"Look what I got everybody!" Keylo shouted as he threw Gohan into the yard. Gohan went flying, ten feet above the ground, for a couple hundred feet till reaching near the center of the yard and sliding across the ground. Keylo darted to the center as Gohan pushed himself back up. "New fish in town! I say we all give him a greeting!"
Within a short few seconds Gohan was surrounded by dozens and dozens of inmates who all gave him wicked stares or smiles. Gohan cowered and shook intensely as he feared for his life.
"What should we do with him?" Van asked.
"I say we use him as slave labor!" One said. His right eye looked a little…loose.
Keylo made an impassive look. "Forghast…that's something that goes without saying."
Forghast was scrawny, skin to bones, and had no hair, wore little clothing. "Oh…Then let's rip his eyes out and eat them!"
The others made a disgusted look. "Who invited Crazy Forg here?" Keylo whispered.
Van shrugged. "You were the one who called out everyone here."
Keylo sighed. "Does anyone have any ideas that are less creepy?"
"I say we give him a taste of Bloodbath!" Another said, quickly revealing himself as he walked past several people. He was about a height of five feet and six inches, he resembled that of a kangaroo almost but in a humanoid form. His tail was thick and large and his body was muscular.
Van formed a smirk. "That's a great idea, Khang." He cracked his knuckles. "Let's all take turns! I'll go first!" He picked Gohan up and tossed him twenty feet in the air. Gohan screamed for help and waved his arms around as he fell towards the ground.
As he came close to Van, Van slammed a fist into Gohan's cheek. Gohan went flying fifteen feet away before sliding up near a medium sized column and a large bruise quickly formed on his right cheek after.
"My turn!" Keylo grinned. He ran up to Gohan rapidly, stopping a few inches before as he slammed the ground. The ground shook and quaked up, launching Gohan thirty feet in the air, and about eighteen feet away. "Quick! Somebody better catch him!"
As Gohan fell towards the ground again, Khang caught him by the back of his armor. Gohan looked up with a frightened look. "Please…" He uttered weakly. Khang gave a short and wicked chuckle as he thrusted his knee into Gohan's gut.
Gohan darted against a nearby column, crashing harshly against it before falling into the ground. He coughed harshly and gasped for air, as intense pain shot up through his back. However, it didn't stop there, one after another they came striking Gohan and eventually causing him to spill blood.
Twenty Agonizing Minutes Later…
Gohan laid barely conscious on the ground, the only thing keeping him conscious was the pure fear that he was going to get hit again. The area around Gohan was now empty as the other inmates were spreaded throughout the yard.
He hoped, kept wishing, that someone out there would come rescue but as every minute passed that hopefulness dissipated faster and faster. Tears spilled from his eyes as he fell unconscious. He laid there for another hour before barely waking up.
He felt weaky, dizzy, and full of ache. His body was covered in various bruises, cuts, scratches, and part of his skin seemed slightly sunburnt. Gohan was so thirsty but when he looked around he didn't see anywhere he could get some water.
He tried to push himself up but his legs were frail and shaky as he stood up, causing him to fall to his knees. Gohan panted heavily as he stared at the ground, his mind filled with thoughts, wishing he could go home and see his parents, a very hopeful thought. His eyes were too dry to even cry.
"Hey Khang! The kid looks thirsty!" Van shouted. "Perhaps we should give him a drink?"
Khang walked up to Van who was about ten feet away from Gohan and examined him. "Sure! We can give him some water."
Gohan looked up when he heard that, all he could hear and think was water. That sounded great right now. Van returned quickly back with some water and handed it to Khang.
"Here ya go, kid!" Van smirked, putting the cup in Gohan's face. Gohan's eyes slightly widened as he was quick to drink it. "Fresh water! FROM THE TOILETS!" Him and Khang started laughing loudly. Gohan paused, his eyes going wider as he threw the cup and spat any water could.
Van nearly doubled over from laughing so hard, as he finished laughing, he wiped a tear from his eye. "Oh man…You should see the look on your face!" Van said. Gohan's eyes watered heavily, his mouth shook as he tried to resist crying, instead it turned into sobbing. Van made an irritated look. "Oh what are you gonna cry now? How pathetic."
Khang rolled his eyes. "No kidding, I almost pity you.." He added. "Almost!" Both of them snickered and laughed again. As they walked away Gohan started to get angry and frustrated, making a quiet growl. "Oh now the kid is starting to get angry, look at him! Bahahahahaha!"
Van stumbled slightly then swung his leg into Gohan's gut. "Oops…my foot slipped! RIGHT INTO YOUR GUT!" Van joked. Gohan was knocked against the column behind him, causing him to fall back on the ground. Both Khang and Van walked away a couple seconds after, still continuing to laugh.
A few hours later..
Gohan slowly awoke to his surroundings once again, his body in severe pain, and now his stomach rumbling for food. He felt so exhausted and scared but only one thing he could think of was his own mother's cooking.
How the smell would linger in the house, how the taste was full of love, care, and comfort. When Gohan tried to pull himself up, he was still weak, nearly collapsing when he stood, but this time he was a little more determined to stay up. He leaned on the column beside him and looked around the area.
Day time was quickly fading and the yard was a little more empty than earlier. He noticed something, smelled something, and followed that smell. As he continued to follow it for a couple minutes more the only thing he ended up seeing was a long line.
When Gohan took a quick look around, despite how long the line was, it was still small compared to the amount of prisoners around here. He scratched his head in confusion, wondering why. He unconsciously looked up at the person of the back of the line, who was quick to notice.
"If yous thinkin yous gettin in this line, cub, you thinkin wrong." He spoke up. This guy was full rock in exterior and interior. He was slightly wide, and about a height of five feet and two inches, relatively short to some of the others Gohan has met. "I'd suggest running away from this line before Khang or Van finds you around here." The man turned back, facing the same direction as the rest of the line.
Gohan frowned, moving his gaze down. It was pretty clear that only certain people were allowed the line. Yet Gohan's stomach rumbled heavily, and he really wanted something to eat. For a second he was contemplating going into line anyways, that was until he heard Khang and Van's voice.
So Gohan decided to book it and head to his cell. He turned around and ran, whipping his head as he made sure the coast was clear. He only made it about twenty feet away before he was caught by Keylo, who had a smirk on his face.
"Now where do ya think you're goin?" Keylo asked. His eyes moved to Gohan then glanced at the line not far. "Were you trying to get some food without permission?" Gohan shook his head in response. "Oh really? Looks like you panicked and ran from the line."
"I-I swear I wasn't. I-I" Gohan stuttered
"What? You were just "checking" it out? Do you know the severity of those who take when they haven't earned their keep yet?" Keylo said. He shook his head in disappointment. Keylo pulled his hands from his hip, raising his right fist and grinned evil as he thrusted it forward. Gohan flinched and shook but the fist never came.
Gohan opened his right eye to see Keylo's fist having narrowly missed, then it slowly retracted. Keylo laughed heavily. "Good to know you're already being conditioned! I'll let you off this once, but if I catch you hanging around areas you're not supposed to be, It'll be punishment." He said. Keylo walked away towards the line, and Gohan sighed with relief.
He walked through the nearby doorway, allowing him to go inside the walls and to the corridor to the right, making it three cells before the end. This was it, his cell, exactly how he left it. Gohan could see the blanket hanging halfway down, something he purposely did before the others took him away forcefully from his cell.
Gohan checked his surroundings before walking inside and laying on his bed. He yawned loudly and pulled the blanket up on him as he wandered to sleep, hoping this was all but a horrible nightmare. He felt so…so… tired.
To be continued…
A/N: SORRY! This was supposed to be out yesterday but I have had a super long week. I feel horrible!
