Brawl at the Saloon
"Here's your horse back, friend." Arthur spoke to the same stranger who shouted at him earlier as he handed the lead over.
The man felt relief as his horse was returned to him. "Oh, you really were just borrowing it!"
"Appreciate it." Arthur tipped his hat towards the other man before walking to the other side, where Wendy was awaiting him. "You doing fine, Princess?"
Wendy nodded, although she could not help but look at her sides and see people gazing at her. The blue hair was an apparent dead giveaway. "Um. Should we be returning to camp by now so I can deal with my hair?"
Arthur saw a point in her statement. Still, what had occurred earlier made him want to meet a couple of the other members here. "We can return later. I need to meet a couple of fellers at the saloon. They're probably waiting for quite a while now."
She tilted her head upon hearing that. "Does that mean I have to be with you?"
A defeated sigh escaped Arthur's lips. He didn't want to bring her along, which he thought of earlier, and meet some friends at the saloon. But what other option did he have left? "Unfortunately, yes." He started to walk away before he looked back and nudged towards her. "C'mon, Princess. I'll treat you to a drink."
"I can't drink alcohol, remember?" Wendy reminded the Outlaw.
"I know that." he said with confidence, "How about a lemonade or somethin' of a beverage?"
"Uh…" Wendy thought about it for a while before coming to a decision. "Sure."
"Alright then," He spoke as the Young Dragon Slayer was walking by his side. It was at that moment when he remembered something off when that kid was not whining and groaning. "By the way, how come you was not sick when we were ridin' that horse?"
"Oh…" A thought came to her mind and quickly thought of something to tell. "Let's just say I don't get sick when riding horses."
"…Huh, I didn't know that." Arthur said as he looked at her. He remained sceptical by her words but decided to press more after he meets up with a couple of friends.
-Scene Change-
The duo walk through the rather unbusy, muddy road of Valentine. Wendy felt comfier walking in her new boots rather than bare feet. She looked back at Arthur and asked, "Where are you supposed to meet your friends, Arthur?"
"Right over there." He pointed at the large red building. She turned to the direction of where he was pointing, and sure enough, she could hear a couple of laughter coming within the structure… even though they were a bit far from where it was.
"I think they're having fun right now, Arthur." She spoke.
"You think?" He asked her.
Wendy looked back at the building, and thanks to her enhanced hearing, she heard the laughter again, as well as the piano being played. This time, she heard someone speaking. "Drink up, ladies."
She looked back at the older man. "Yes." Arthur wondered how she knew they were currently occupied at the moment. But he decided to add that to his many questions for her.
As they were at the entrance of their destination, Wendy immediately started coughing uncontrollably. The Outlaw looked at her with a concerned look. "You okay?"
The Sky Dragon Slayer continued to cough before clearing her throat. "Yeah. I can smell smoke coming from within the building."
Arthur raised an eyebrow, and after a few sniffs, he could smell the tobacco from inside. Unlike the kid, he was not at all bothered. "Well, we better go in. Don't want that to deter you from meeting the others."
As the Outlaw opened the door, Wendy scanned the surroundings. She felt nostalgic as she was immediately reminded of the Fairy Tail guild. However, her attention was quickly turned to where the counter was, where two men were talking to two women. Arthur nudged at her as he started to walk towards them. "C'mon, Princess."
The two men heard his voice and turned to see him accompany a kid. "Oh, Arthur. Arthur, come here, come here." One of them greeted him.
Arthur just walked up to them and immediately greeted the two women. "Pleased to meet you."
"Well, ain't you just the tough as teak mountain man? The Ginger one commented.
"Oh, you be quiet, Anastasia..." The other woman spoke to her. "Anyone can tell this one is a pussy cat."
The Hispanic-looking fellow can't help but laugh at that. "Exactly, yes, he's a pussy... cat. Ain't that so, Arthur?"
"Whatever you say." Arthur commented to his friend before looking back at the ladies. "How much you cost, anyway?"
This made the two women laugh before Anastasia sarcastically asked. "Well, ain't that a nice way to talk to a lady?"
This made Arthur counter what she said in a lace of dry sarcasm. "Oh, I didn't know I was talking to a lady."
The two ladies got annoyed at what he had said and had to excuse themselves before leaving them. "Excuse me."
Seeing the duo leave caused the Hispanic man to remark on Arthur's words. "Well, I must say... you got a fine way with the women, amigo."
Arthur slightly laughed at that. "Yeah, a regular dandy and charmer." All of a sudden, he had a feeling that Wendy was looking at him. He turned around and, sure enough, saw the kid staring at him with a disappointed look. "What?"
"Do you usually speak to women with that tone, Arthur?" Wendy asked in an annoyed voice.
He let out an annoyed groan upon hearing that. "What. Can you take a hint of sarcasm, Princess?" Her glare only intensified, which caused him to shake his head. "Would you stop doing that? It's making people uncomfortable."
"Alright, Arthur. You can stop now." Charles spoke to him before he introduced himself to her. "I'm Charles."
The Hispanic fellow did the same. "Javier. It's a pleasure to see you awake, amiga."
She smiled at them before bowing down. "Pleasure to meet you too, Mr. Javier and Mr. Charles."
Arthur didn't seem to mind with her saying the courtesy title. " Well, I think I can use a few drinks to de-stress along with the boys before heading back to camp." He, along with the two, went up to the counter and started to drink the shots that were already there. At this time, Arthur ordered a drink for the little girl. "Barkeep, gimme a lemonade would ya?! For the little lady over here."
The Bartender nodded when he heard that and prepared the drink. "It's coming right up!"
"Make it quick," Arthur finished his sentence. He looked around to see one person missing. "Where's Bill?"
Javier chuckled at the thought of what might occur when that person was around. "Oh, man, I dread to think about it."
Wendy heard footsteps just outside the saloon and immediately turned around and saw a rather buffy-looking person. "Um, is that who you're talking about, Mr. Javier?"
Javier and the others turned around, and sure enough, they saw their other friend entering the saloon. "Yep. There he is."
As the four saw Bill taking a single step foot in, he was bumped by another man, and they immediately came into conflict. "Hey, watch where you're going!"
The other man tried to de-escalate the situation. "Take it easy, pal!"
The gruff man didn't take the man's words easily. ""Take it easy", huh?"
Wendy had a bad feeling as she had seen this type of conflict in Fairy Tail's guildhall many times. "He about to kiss that guy or punch him?" She heard Arthur say to his two friends.
The outlaw eventually got his answer as all of the four saw Bill grabbing onto the man and headbutting him onto a table before he came into conflict with the other patrons and got thrown. The Sky Dragon Slayer sighed as she approached the counter to avoid getting involved in what was about to happen. Unfortunately, Javier and the others didn't think the same. "Oh, and we have our answer."
The young dragon slayer saw the three men leaving the counter. Her eyes first laid on Javier, who grabbed an empty bottle and smashed it onto a random patron's head. Then, she saw Charles breaking a wooden chair as he threw it at another unexpected patron, and finally, her eyes lay on Arthur, who immediately threw a fist at a patron's cheek after getting punched. A sigh escaped her lips as she watched the fight and immediately ducked behind the counter to avoid getting hit by another bottle. "Let's just hope things won't escalate further."

The saloon became an arena where the three men had a handful to throw fists with. Bill was having difficulties in dealing with three men at the same time. "Let's just shoot these bastards!"
Charles had a different thought as he easily fended off against his share. "Oh, come on, we can handle these fools!"
"Who are you fools, huh?" Javier said while taunting his opponent before getting punching right into the left side of the jaw.
Arthur threw a few swings at another brawler while blocking any punches thrown at him. Though his hat was knocked out from his head in the process, it didn't deter him as he stopped another hit and uppercut his opponent, who was sent flying into the table, which was immediately destroyed. Seeing the furniture destroyed caused the bartender to shout at the contestants. "Someone's paying for the damage!"
Arthur picked up his Gambler hat with his opponent down and turned to see how the others were faring while rubbing his bruised face. Charles was doing well with his opponents. That same could be said of Javier despite receiving a fair amount of punches to the cheek. Bill was a different story as he was pinned against a wall by two men and was getting punched in the stomach. It was a clear sign of who he was going to save.
Quickly walking to where Bill was, Arthur punched a brawler on the side before hitting the man in the face, knocking him to the ground. He was about to help… "What the hell is going on down here?"
All heads turned to the stars as a colossal man walked down the stairs and saw what had occurred. This immediately spelt terrible news to the bartender. "No, Tommy, stay outta this!"
His words fell on deaf ears as he looked over at Javier. "Come here, you little greaser." As he is on the same floor as the others, Javier lands a punch on him, but Tommy easily overpowers Javier and staggers over to the counter, where he continues to pummel him. "Ya hit like a girl."
Wendy couldn't help but gulp for the concern of the others. She witnessed Charles fighting someone, Bill with another person someone and a man hitting Arthur over the head with a chair, who grabbed onto Arthur, who immediately tried to break free. She would have intervened but knew it was not yet the appropriate time to intervene. "Just be careful. Mr. Javier. That guy looks tough."
"Get the hell off me!" Arthur shouted to the man while resorting to elbow him to break free.
The Hispanic tried to fight back, but he was easily tossed around and getting repeatedly punched by Tommy, who immediately shrug it off. "Ya bum."
"Javier could use some help, Morgan!" Bill shouted at his friend while struggling against his opponent.
Eventually, Arthur breaks free from the man and knocks him out with a sucker punch to the face and walk towards where Javier was being slammed onto the table by Tommy. "Hey, tough guy!" He punches the big guy on the back of his head, which causes him to throw him over the table and knocks his hat off his head again.
"You want some too, huh?" He asked before grabbing Arthur by the collar and throws him out of the window, which shattered the glass in the process. The Outlaw lands onto the porch before he is rolled onto the muddy grounds of valentine. He immediately gets up with dirt soaked onto him as Tommy walks out of the saloon to engage on a fistfight. "Come on, pretty boy…"
"Pretty boy?" Arthur can't believe what he heard and went into his fighting stance. "You're kidding me? Pretty boy?" Unsurprisingly, their fight had grabbed the attention of the entire town, and they encircled the two to spectate on the fight.
Arthur blocked a punch from Tommy with his left fist before punching him right in the face. The spectators can't help but to cheer on either which of the two would win. "Knock his head off!"
The outlaw was immediately grabbed into the throat and was thrown to the side, but he remained his balance. At that same time, Bill, Javier, and Charles excited the saloon and watched the fight with Wendy, who stood onto the porch and watch Arthur engage Tommy. The young dragon slayer can't help but nervously comment, "Uh…the ENTIRE town is watching, guys?"
Javier didn't seem to mind about that. "Just relax, amiga, Arthur can take care of it."
The two continued to trade blows at one another while throwing insults to reach other. "You must be the village idiot, huh?"
"You okay there, Arthur?" Charles asked while spectating the fight.
"Yeah, I got this son of a bitch." Arthur answered before being hit on the face before stumbling down to the ground before putting the outlaw on a chokehold. Despite the size difference, Arthur elbowed Tommy to the stomach multiple times before he was released and retaliated back. All the while the spectators continued to cheer on for the big guy. "Show him how we do it in Valentine"
The same could be said for other individual. "You've got this one, Arthur!"
Arthur ducked down to avoid a swing and stood up to hit his opponent on the face. "You're making a real fool of yourself." A few hits and dodges in, it seems like all of his attacks seemed to be ineffective against Tommy. When he got closer, the other guy wrapped his hands around the Outlaw's neck. "I'll crack your damn skull open."
With all of his strength, he throws Arthur to the muddy ground and proceeds to bury his head onto to. It seems like Arthur struggled to break free this time. In a sudden twist, Arthur manages to break free and punches Tommy directly to the left side of his head before proceeding to kick him in the balls which made him fall to the ground. Not wanting to lose this opportunity, Arthur gets on top of the big guy before he started to punch him in the head.
Seeing the obvious winner, Wendy tried to stop Arthur from continuing to beat the man. "Arthur, I think you should stop." Much to her dismay, he didn't stop and proceeded to punch Tommy once again. The onlookers didn't make a move to even stop the fight. Even Arthur's friends took no action. A disappointed sigh escaped her lips as she had to deal with this on own her. "I don't want to do this. But this is for his own good. I'm sorry to what I am about to do, Mr. Arthur."
As Arthur shook his right hand before he thew another punch to his opponent's face. Right he was about to, he felt a pair of hands grabbing onto his back brown jacket. As he was about to glance to look at who was behind him, he was suddenly thrown to the side, with his back being slammed onto one of the wooden poles of the saloon. All watchers were silent as they watched him land back onto the muddy ground. He felt dazed for a bit before shaking his head and standing and looked to see who had done it. Wendy.
"Okay, why did you do that, you little shit?!" He said, feeling infuriated that she had interrupted him with his fight against Tommy. He walked towards her despite the pain he felt on his back and was about to…

"Stop! Stop!" A stranger from the crowds put himself in between Arthur and Wendy as he was facing the former. "Please, I beg you. Stop."
Arthur did just that. Though that didn't prevent him from glaring at this stranger as he continued speaking. "Come, sir. She only did that just to stop the fight. You won the fight already, surely that's enough?"
"What business is it of yours?" A muddied Arthur asked this stranger.
"No business. No business, sir." He pleaded. "But please... I beg you. Don't make it worse for yourself."
Being fed up with the man's words, Arthur pushed the man aside to sit in front of the General Store. The stranger looked at Wendy and held out his hand. "Thank you. For stopping the fight. Not many folks are brave enough to break up fights these days."
The young dragon slayer nervously laughed. "You're welcome." She was about to shake when she heard him cough to the side and smelled something. Blood. This caused her to be concerned. "Are you okay?"
The man looked back at her. "Oh, there's nothing you should be concerned about, miss." He glanced over to her side to see Tommy rubbing the left side of his face. "Excuse me. I need to check up on someone."
The young dragon slayer saw the man walking over to the big guy and checked up on him. It looks like the crowd were heading back to the building but not before giving a few glances at her due to what occurred earlier. She then looked over at the General Store, where Arthur, Javier, Bill, and Charles were talking to Dutch and another man who was in a suit. The new person caught her interest. "Who is that?"
Wendy walked towards them, and the new man peeked at his side to see her approaching them. "Ah, this must be the one that Dutch spoke highly off?"
Dutch also looked to where she came from and smiled at seeing her. "Look who it is? And with more suitable clothing."
"You can thank Arthur for given me enough to but these, Mr. Van Der Linde." She clarified to him before looking back at the other man. "By the way, who's he?
The man in the suit bowed down and greeted her with a smile of his own. "Josiah Trelawny at your service, miss."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Trelawny." Wendy gave her own bow.
As the introduction has been already done, Javier though it would be best to do the group's assignment. "Well, now that has been sorted, me and the others need to go to Blackwater."
Arthur just held his hand up in the air. "Just hold on." Seeing that the little girl was them; it would be the right time to get some answers. "Now that she is here, we all need to head back to camp so she can just answer a few questions." Wendy didn't know why, but a sense of dread came to her as they knew she was hiding something from them.
-Scene Change-
The ride back to camp was so quiet. Even more so, it didn't sit well for Wendy as she couldn't help but feel a lot of eyes drawing upon her. Speaking of which, she heard the others talking despite them trying to speak quietly. "So, how's you back, amigo?"
"Fine, I guess." Arthur answered to Javier. "It'll take a few days for me to recover. But think she tossed me harder than I thought. From what you've told me, Dutch, I could've sworn that she had said she was from a tribe or somethin'."
"Wait, she was part of a tribe?" Charles cannot believe what he heard.
Bill thought differently. "I think that is some made-up bullshit she made for us."
Dutch did a quick glance and noticed Wendy seemed to hear them. "You boys, that's enough talk. We're gonna have this discussion with her once we reach camp."
Upon reaching the camp's entrance, everyone proceeded to dismount from their horses. Arthur was helped by Charles, and one of his arms was slung by his shoulder. "Easy, there. We'll take you by your tent."
As the six arrived at camp, many people immediately swarmed into their position. They had worrying looks upon seeing the state Arthur was in. "Arthur!" Mary-Beth immediately came to his aid.
John could say the same. "Jesus. You look like you've taken a lot of beatin' there, Arthur."
"I know..." Arthur acknowledges them.
Susan saw Arthur's dirty state and immediately told the others to help him. "Go help Arthur clean himself. He can't be seen like that."
"Yeah, about that." He spoke before turning his body around and looking at Wendy, who seemed uncomfortable with his gaze. "You can thank the kid for puttin' me in this state. Which makes me wonder, how come you was sick by ridin' that wagon but not with the horses?"
The young dragon slayer tried not to look too nervous by not looking at them in the eyes. "Ah-ha, w-well, I guess it has to do with the wagon's conditions."
Charles seemed to see through her deceit. He then brought up another point. "You tossed Arthur like it was nothing. Something impossible for someone at your age."
"I guess it has to do my unique talent, Mr. Charles." Wendy countered.
And was Abigail's turn to give her own evidence. "When I handed that stew to you, you put it close to your nose to smell anything suspicious. That ain't a normal thing for a child to do! That makes you suspicious of being a victim of abuse!"
Wendy was about to respond when Dutch had a saying with his own words. "Now, what I find hard to believe is that you told us your tribe was killed off." He suspiciously raised an eyebrow at her. "How does a tribe with strength such as yours be wiped out?"
"I…" Wendy was finding the proper words to respond to their questions. The air surrounding the vicinity became difficult to breathe. Their questionings proved too much for her to handle and felt the sense of nervousness starting to crack her façade. "I…"
Seeing the looks that she was about to mentally breakdown, Hosea stepped in to ease the tension. "Everyone please. Give her some space." They all stopped asking Wendy questions. The little girl felt relieved that they were not barraging with inquiries. Though she knew he was going to ask one of his own, but this is going to be just a simple one. "Now, Miss Marvell, can you exactly tell us what you really are? There is no point in hiding your secrets."
Well, he brought up a good point. The young dragon slayer had only been with them for a day and, with the stunt she pulled back in Valentine, there were no longer a pointing of keeping her identity away from them. She awkwardly pressed her index fingers together while trying her best to look at Hosea straight in the eyes. "Uh, how should I say this? I'm something what you call… a Dragon Slayer."
This made everyone go silent for the next few moments. If they were honest, they never expected her to utter such statement. The silence was eventually broken when Arthur suddenly spoke. "I'm sorry…but you're a WHAT!?"
John shared the same mutual feeling as the older outlaw. "What kind of bullshit is that, kid!?"
Wendy looked away from the two before letting a sigh to calm herself down before looking back at the others, who shared the same reaction as John and Arthur. This was not the way she expected her secret to be reveal like this. "Just let me explain what that is."
