Over Duty

There was never a dull day in the Hotel. It was always either someone on the staff or one of the guests causing trouble for them. Charlie really tried to grin and bear it but Vaggie could see it was taking a toll on the Princess.

"Baxter I swear if you and Pentious can't make it until morning without causing an explosion I will cut both of your arms off! Then at least we can have some piece and quiet until they grow back!" Vaggie slammed the bedroom door shut and rubbed her temples. "Your dad just got us that new lobby too."

Charlie groaned heavily and collapsed face first over the edge of the bed, kicking her shoes off and airing out muffled complaints.

"What'd you say hon?"

"I said it's like dealing with kids sometimes." She rolled on her back, frowning. "Their fights seem childish too. Why not just divide the lab into two colors? It's big enough."

"It's not big enough for both their egos." As Vaggie got dressed for bed she kept an eye on Charlie in the mirror. The Princess looked tired, which was to be expected with them getting more guests lately. It seemed like she was being taken more seriously now too, which came with it's own complications.

Putting her nightgown on she approached the bed right as Charlie mumbled to herself, "We'd have less trouble having a kid of our own."

Vaggie's heart, or whatever she had, fluttered. "I don't think we can do that Charlie. Neither of us have the right... parts for making one." She felt herself be pulled up to straddle Charlie's lower stomach.

The Princess was firm but gentle in her touch, smoothing her hands over Vaggie's thighs. It made Vaggie tremble under her fingers.

"We're in Hell, anything goes down here." At the words her hand moved further between Vaggie's legs. "I think we'd make great parents."

"I-" Vaggie allowed her self one second to imagine it. A baby that was the perfect mix of her and Charlie. Then she looked down at her girlfriend. Charlie's face wasn't often a picture of lust but right now it was. Her horns, her fangs, her smile, her half-lid eyes. "Right now you're really making me want to find a way to put a baby in here." Her hands pressed against Charlie's stomach. She heard Charlie whimper, and she hadn't even gotten started.

A few blissful hours later and Charlie was passed out in their bed, finally sleeping soundly. Vaggie couldn't help but admire her. This wasn't fair. She shouldn't be this happy, she shouldn't make promises she can't deliver on. Just as she was about push those thoughts away and sleep she caught a flash of something, or someone, flying by their window.

Another wannabe intruder maybe? After the chaos that Adam caused it wouldn't be odd to get more people trying to do the same and get their name out there.

Quickly throwing on her nightgown and fetching her spear she walked out onto the balcony. Looking around she didn't see anyone. Maybe if she got higher up to her trusty Crow's nest.

Still nothing. It could have been her imagination? She must be more tired then she thought.

"Making babies with the Hellborn now are you?" Vaggie stabbed at the source of the voice behind her only to have it deflected by a sword.

"Lute."

"Vaggatha." Greeted the Exorcist from the other end of the nest. "That was quite the show you put on."

Vaggie cringed, "Did you watch me with Charlie you fucking pervert?!"

"Disgusting and no. I have no desire to see any of what you do with your Demon Princess fucktoy." The words made Vaggie growl and take a step closer, the spear pushing closer to Lute but the angel didn't seem to care.

It was frustrating to see that mask of indifference and judgement staring back at her. Vaggie couldn't sense any killing intent, and if Lute did try something that would break the deal between Lucifer and God. Adam and Lute were already on thin ice for their attack on the Hotel.

"Good because from what I hear you're spending way too much time around Adam." How Lute could stand him was far beyond Vaggie's understanding.

"I could say the same for you and the Princess. If you spent half as time trying to sabotage this little project of hers as you are fucking her then maybe none of us would be in this situation right now." Lute pushed the spear away with her sword as a show of superiority but Vaggie wasn't buying it, still gripping her weapon tight. "Oh God don't tell me you're actually buying what she's saying. Come on, is her cunt that good that you-"

"Don't talk about Charlie like that." She was now face to face with Lute, their blades almost cutting into each others skin. "Remember I was one of the best Exorcists Heaven ever had."

"You... were?" It wasn't said in a mocking tone, Lute knew it to be true but it was the past tense that gave her pause. Vaggie's grip loosened slightly. "Hit a nerve it seems. You should know this by know but He won't wait forever." The words weren't said in a threatening tone yet they sent chills down Vaggie's spine. "As long as you remember your mission."

Lute's smirk looked so familiar it made Vaggie recoil. To think she used to have one almost like it. "I could never forget." But she could. All those moments she spent with Charlie made her forget what she was down here for.

"I hope you aren't lying to us Vaggatha." Lute leaned over the edge and let herself fall, opening her wings, "I think we woke up your Sleeping Beauty."

Vaggie turned around to see Charlie on the balcony. When she turned back Lute was nowhere in sight. Was she even here? Maybe she was spending a bit too much time around Adam after all. She seemed to be adopting some of his flare for theatrics.

She flew back down to her girlfriend, surprising her with a hug from behind. "I still need to get used to seeing your wings out in the open." Usually Vaggie only made them appear when she needed to stretch them a little, like any other limp needed. "Couldn't sleep?"

"I was just thinking about how it went with Adam and Lute. If they come back with stronger angels we're gonna need a lot more demons on our side." They barely made it through this fight. If the Hotel kept going Vaggie could lose Charlie for good in one of these petty fights with Heaven's higher ups.

That thought scared her more then any punishment they might give her when they realize that Vaggie is actually in love with Charlie. This stopped being just a mission a long time ago. Maybe they'd banish her like they first did with Lucifer and Lilith? She could only be so lucky.

"Hey there's nothing we can't handle. No matter what they throw us. Like you said, I'm not doing this alone. None of us are. We're in this together Vaggie." Charlie's beaming smile made her insides twist in a very uncomfortable knot.

"Of course we are babe." Vaggie looked up at Heaven again, narrowing her eye at them and extending her middle finger at them. She could already feel the passing judgment. "And we're gonna win. I know it."
